We love Dr Leshanski and At Home Vet. Dr Leshanski has looked after my dog for the last 2 years. He is proactive and always looking at new treatments for my dogs anxiety issues. He listens to our problems and works with us to find a solution. He was extremely helpful over the holidays when my dog had some urinary issues and made himself available and provided a treatment that resolved the issue. We really treasure his knowledge and his flexibility.

We lost our dear pal Barney after 12 wonderful years last week. He was a beach-loving, rabbit-fearing basset hound who had led quite a life. He went downhill very, very fast. From a happy romp in the park that morning, to full downhill by evening. Dr. Leshanski was so kind. He came over and allowed us to stay with Barney so that he was with us in the end. Barney was comfortable, in his home, with a kind doctor and family surrounding him to tell him goodbye. This sweet, silly dog was our buddy. Our family member. And I could not have asked for a better goodbye. He would have been in pain and scared if I had tried to move him to an emergency vet. I truly offer a heartfelt thank you to Dr Leshanski for being there and for being so kind. Thank you thank you thank you. I certainly sleep better knowing it was an easier crossing of the rainbow for Barney. Erin Borge

Wonderful, caring, supportive vet. Came to help my friend say goodbye to her very sick cat, was thoughtful and sensitive and professional and kind. Really flexible dealing with last minute scheduling changes. He explained everything, and gave everyone time to say goodbye. Poor little cat left peacefully due to Dr. Leshanski's kind, calm approach. Thank you so much Dr. Leshanski.

Dr. Jonathan Leshanski is AMAZING!! He came over my apartment to potentially put my Bernese Mountain Dog to sleep. I told him i didn't know if I was ready. He spent over an hr and half giving me additional options for him. He gave him a couple of medications to try, message therapy & exercise regiment to follow. He asked me to email him updates every 2-3 days for the next 10 days to see if any progress could be made in his quality of life. I'm utterly impressed by this doctor. I would highly recommend him for any pets/ companion animals that hate going to the vet, & definatly hospice and at home euthanasia. Not only does he practice western, but also eastern medicine, acupuncture, & holistic options. He also knows Chinese medicine!!! The price was extremely reasonable. I truly can't say enough good things about this vet. I've had dogs for over 20yrs & I've been to numerous vets. I've never had such a positive experience. I only wish I could give him 10 stars!! Thank you Dr. Leshansky. I'm extremely grateful for all the time and energy you spent on my baby Rocky!!

Back in June, Emily and Jonathan helped us get the paperwork for our cat Winston prior to our move to Europe. They were amazing, professional, and mindful of our concerns and worries to take a plane with our pet. Everything went well, we received the documents on time and the trip went great. I strongly recommend their services. Thank you!

When I lived in NY Dr. Leshanski looked after my two cats I had adopted. He diagnosed quite correctly that one of the cats did not have megacolon (another vet had told me he had and to just put him down when he as only 6 months old - he lived another happy 15 years). Dr. Leshanski continued to look after my boys Mikesch and Seemann. Without him I would have never learned about natural feeding, as it was he who first made me aware of it. Whenever he would come to my home he would give my cats kisses, which no vet has ever done since :) When I left NY he did not charge me for the travel certificates, it was his farewell gift. I will never forget Dr. Leshanski and his beautiful spirit and competent treatments and I am still grateful to this day.

Decided to save some money and cut my dogs nails, went to far and there was blood everywhere. Called At home Vet service and the doc on the other line was very helpful and honest. I can’t remember his name because I was so stressed and anxious about my dog and all the blood I was looking at. So, I am very thankful for the doctor that picked up the phone, he said the bleeding would stop eventually and it did after all the baking soda and corn starch, we put her in the tub and Marley was fine a few minutes after that. Scariest moment of my ENTIRE life. Thanks doc.

I had to make the decision to euthanize my pet and knew that who I chose to do it was just as important and would have to feel right too. When I came across Dr. Leshanski's page, I instantly got a good feeling. I called to make an appointment and his wife Emily answered the phone. She immediately showed warmth, kindness and compassion and I knew my pet's final moments would be in good hands. This was such a relief because I initially considered another service, HomeVets NYC and was continually put off by Wendy McCulloch's business first, arrogant, sterile character. It was very important to me that I feel good about who is coming to my home in what would be the last time I get to spend with my pet. Dr. Leshanki and Emily were accommodating as they could be considering that I called last minute. I wasn't able to go with them because things changed quickly for my pet, but I still felt good about my exchange with them.

Our cat suddenly stopped eating and became very lethargic. Multiple trips to the vet lead to blood tests that determined he had severe anemia and had to be admitted to AMC animal hospital in Manhattan for an immediate blood transfusion. Unfortunately the transfusions only provided temporary relief and multiple biopsies were coming out negative. He would almost appear to be his normal self afterwards but not quite. His behavior was still off (Was falling asleep inside his litter box and would have to rest just to gather the strength to walk a few paces. Could no longer jump). On the third day after his last transfusion he just didn't have any fight left in him. Once we got the follow up blood tests back, they confirmed our worst fears and we had to make a very difficult decision to have him Euthanized before his condition deteriorated ever more. He had lost a lot of weight and it was already very hard for me to watch him like this. We started to look at options and are so glad that this can be done in the comfort of the pets own home. Talked to a few people but many of them were very clinical and almost too 'professional' in their mannerisms and general attitude toward their work. They've obviously been doing this for awhile but I think that experience has probably made a lot of them somewhat desensitized. That's not the kind of person we wanted to perform this procedure and, after some more searching and reading reviews, we got in touch with Doctor Leshanski through her assistant, Emily, who was so attentive and kind over the phone. Later I was able to speak to Doctor Leshanski himself who was just as kind and caring. There was a very clear difference in tone between these two people versus the others I contacted before them. I mentioned this to Emily who told me that they prefer to have an 'old country family doctor' approach even though they were in the city and I liked that. We decided that we found the right person and immediately scheduled an appointment the next morning on short notice. The next day was obviously a very difficult one as many reading this review are probably facing right now but I can assure you, that Mr. Leshanski was nothing but kind, understanding and, most of all, very patient through the whole process. He does not like to rush through it and prefers to go at your own pace. He was also very kind toward our cat and you can really get a sense that both him and Emily really do care a great deal about these animals. I petted our cat (Icha) until his last breath. Said my goodbyes and then allowed the doctor to do his work. He was absolutely ok with my request that he be cremated with his blanket and favorite teddy bear, assured me that he would treat him as if he was his own and I believed him. Shortly after receiving back his ashes, we got a thoughtful hand written card from them expressing their condolences. I cannot recommend Dr. Leshanski and Emily highly enough if you are now faced with this difficult task. It will be some time before I can accept another pet but he will definitely be my first choice for in home checkups whenever I do decide to take in another one. Would be nice to talk to and meet both of them again under better circumstances. R.I.P. Icha. You will be missed and never forgotten.

I was looking for in-home pet euthanasia for my ailing dog. I inquired into Jonathan Leshanski because he had generally good reviews plus he was nearby. 1. Every time I called his office, I got voicemail. 2. I sent an email inquiry and arranged a consultation appointment through his assistant. 3. The vet never showed up to the appointment nor did anyone call. What a horrible way to treat people during a distressful time. Luckily I was able to immediately find another, very gracious, very interactive vet (Wendy McCulloch of Pet Requiem).

Dr. Leshanksi of At Home Vet has been caring for my cat, Buddha, as long as I have had him (Buddha just turned 14 years old in November, and I got him when he was 6 months old—just to give you a sense). From Buddha’s first hairball, to a cyst scare when he was 5, to the diagnosis of his diabetes, and through many a panicked emergency, Dr. Leshanksi has been a true godsend to us. He has never once made me feel like I am asking too many questions (believe me—I ask way too many), or like I’m worrying for no reason, or that my fears are unfounded or crazy. Instead, he listens patiently and responds with a level of compassion and knowledge that is truly unparalleled. He is exceptionally kind and gentle with Buddha, who is not always the easiest patient (in his younger years, he was quite difficult, though he has mellowed in his old age). In every instance along the way when something has come up, Dr. Leshanksi has taken the time and care to explain things to me in a way that I can understand and process, so that I can make informed decisions. He has advised me in very scary situations, even if they happen to occur at really inappropriate times (say, at midnight on a Sunday, or sometimes even when he is out of town). As Buddha has gotten older, we have had to have some difficult conversations about the realities of aging. Dr. Leshanksi has told me so many times with such sincerity and kindness that he is commited to doing absolutely everything he can to making sure the rest of Buddha’s life is as comfortable and happy as it possibly can be—and I truly know he means it. As someone who considers her pets to be family members, this is extremely comforting, and I know that no matter what happens, Buddha is in the absolute best hands with Dr. Leshanksi. I cannot imagine our lives without him and the outstanding level of care he provides. My gratitude to you is infinite, Doc!

My dog has been suffering recently from a stomach bug and after contacting local vets in my area and being unsuccessful in booking a quick appointment, I found Dr. Leshanski's website and couldn't have been happier! He was so incredibly helpful and i couldn't believe he would make an appointment for Sunday at 6. He really made us feel at ease and was so kind and loving with our dogs. He never made us feel silly for the million questions we asked and always responded so politely and intelligently. You can really tell that he cares about his work and your pets as if they were his own! I honestly couldn't have asked for more from a vet and look forward to our visits in the future!

If I could give more stars I would. At Home Veterinary was truly perfect. A lot of at home Veterinarians will not drive out to my location so I appreciate Dr Leshanski taking the time to do so to see my two Cats. His assistant/Wife Emily is truly kind and sweet. These two are truly lovely people. They even helped me look for my cat when she was hiding. The doctor is punctual, patient, and kind. He was honest and answered all my questions and trust me I asked way to many. If you need a house call for your four legged family member be sure to give At Home Veterinary a call because your fur baby/babies are truly in good hands with this Doctor.

I first met Dr Leshanski about 15 years ago when my cat was sick... Knowing how much my cats hate leaving the apartment, I was lucky enough to find Dr Leshanski who came over to examine my cat and alleviate the stress that leaving the apartment would have caused her... 10 years ago I became a mom to 4 two-month-old kittens from the same litter... Once again, Dr Leshanski came over and gave them the care that kittens need... He came back several times to give them their vaccinations... Several months ago, one of my cats was having difficulty walking, and, once again, Dr Leshanski came over to examine my cat... Dr Leshanski is a very kind; compassionate and knowledgeable veterinarian and it's evident that he LOVES his patients very much... I am so grateful to have found Dr Leshanski...

An excellent, skilled, veterinarian with great ability to deliver care in a sensitive and gentle way. He is extremely pragmatic and does not recommend procedures unless absolutely necessary. My dogs and cats love him and I highly recommend Dr. Leshanski.

We met Dr Leshanski one time when we needed some answers for our 12 year old German Shorthaired Pointer. We had a feeling she had cancer because of mass in her throat that kept growing. He came to our house on a Sunday night, he was very flexible, and referred us to Blue Pearl Vets for further testing but mostly confirmed our fears. He gave her a steroid and made her feel comfortable. After the steroid wore off he prescribed her an oral steroid that we were able to use for about 3 weeks before she couldn't stand it. Unfortunately we put her down early on Tuesday morning, I emailed and called Dr L at 2am and 6am but we suspected he wasn't open yet, so we went to Blue Pearl again. They called at 9am but we had just put her down, she was too sick to wait. They were apologetic and so sympathetic. Now it is Friday, 3 days from when we put our Sadie down and we got home from work to find a card from Dr Leshanski and Emily. This was so thoughtful, they had only met Sadie once but were already treating us as if they have known us and her for years. We couldn't have had better end of life care in this big city. Thanks Dr. Leshanski and Emily!

Thank you Dr. Leshanski for your kindness and professionalism. Dr.Leshanski went out of his way to help us on one of our hardest days, when we had to say goodbye to our lovely cat companion of 16 years. Could not ask for anything more. We will definitely be coming back for your services when we are finally ready to adopt a new kitten. Emily, his assistant, is also incredibly kind and helpful. Thank you both.

I have an on-going problem with my dog's UTIs and she gets them multiple times a year. I've seen 5-8 different vets in the past few years and no one has ever bother to explain possible causes and treatments the way Dr. Jonathan did! Other vets have seen my dog for 5 minutes and prescribed the most expensive antibiotics possible, not listening to me when I ask about causes and possible treatments. I'm super pleased with our first appointment and will definitely be using At Home Veterinary Services from now on. Definitely recommend!

We first found Dr. Leshanski when our first cat was dying quite suddenly from cancer. She was traumatized and panicking from the trip to the emergency room and clearly suffering in her last days. We decided we wanted to let her pass on in our own home. Thankfully, Dr. Leshanski was there to help. He was incredibly kind and sensitive through the process, which was extremely hard for both of us. He took care of the whole process of getting her cremated and his recommendation for that service was very reliable. Beyond the world's best bedside manner, Dr. Leshanki is literally a life saver. After our first cat passed, we immediately adopted a set of kittens. One of them seemed to be struggling going to the bathroom, and Dr. L dropped everything to come over to our apartment immediately, knowing the situation was much more serious than we realized. Zeus (the kitten) had a urinary blockage and without Dr. Leshanki's speedy response he would have been in an emergency situation in a matter of hours. As it was, he spent several days at the hospital, but without Dr. L he may not have made it in time. We would never consider using another vet, and recommend him to anyone with pets without reservation. If you're lucky, he'll bring along his young daughter, who is as professional as she is adorable, and equally great with pets. The whole family has the gift!

Totally recommend At Home Veterinary Services! We trust them for both our own pet dogs and our clients at Instinct Dog Training. Very kind, knowledgeable, and caring. In-home veterinary care is such a better option for some dogs. If you’ve been thinking about trying them, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Appreciative of the help ending the suffering of my dear fur family member. Not an easy decision, and very grateful for the compassionate, caring, and professional in-home service.

Laurie Blackstone

Dr. Leshanski and his staff are THE BEST! We have known Dr. L for over 20 years and he has treated our animals with expert knowledge and deep compassion. NYC is fortunate to have him and we recommend him highly!!

Recently I was faced with the agonizing reality that it was probably time to say goodbye to our beloved corgi and furry family member of 14 years. Thank god I found Dr. Leshanski. He was accommodating and compassionate through every step of this horribly painful process. He returned my call immediately, listened to and accurately assessed the situation, was willing to schedule the appointment around our needs, and rescheduled it to allow one of my daughters the time she needed to spend with the pet she had known her entire life. Having lived through traumatic loss previously, the girls and I, suffice it to say, weren't the easiest group to deal with. But he focused on our Cleo, the facts of her medical condition and her comfort, and straightforwardly explained the options to us. His gentleness and genuine concern for Cleo's best interests allowed all of us to be at peace with the decision to say goodbye, and she was surrounded by love and hugs as she left us to run and bound in the land of eternal doggy happiness. I am utterly grateful to Dr. Leshanski for his professionalism, compassion, guidance and true kindness - I cannot imagine a better person to handle this very difficult job.

If you got to this review because you are looking for a dignified way to say farewell to your beloved pet, I know how hard this is. It is one of the most agonizing decisions. We had to say goodbye to our beautiful Dachshund Kala. We made the decision on a Friday evening and called for a Saturday appointment late in the evening. Emily took our call and was incredibly compassionate and arranged the appointment with Dr. Leshanski. Dr. Leshanski made the trip uptown on a Saturday afternoon (at no additional charge, unlike one other vet who seemed rather inconvenienced by the prospect of having to work on a weekend). He made the procedure as bearable as humanly possible. He was respectful, professional and compassionate and it was clear that he did everything he did to minimize the suffering and pain for both Kala and us. Thank you for being there for us.

Irene Klein

Dr. Leshanski has talent with pets! My standard poodle used to shake intensely on his visits to a vet, but loves Dr. Leshanski, and accepts medicine from him. This past weekend, he had a stomach problem, and Dr. Leshanski made an emergency visit. On Saturday night! That's kindness. In addition to being knowledgeable and attentive, he never suggests any superfluous treatments. I highly recommend him!

Kate

Dr Leshanski and Emily have been amazing through one of the worst moments of my life. In this devastating time, saying goodbye to my little best friend, everything was made easy and kind by them both.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Leshanski and his assistant, Emily. I'm a first time cat owner, and on my very first day of adopting a kitten, I made the mistake of trying to trim the matted fur off her stomach. I was in tears I felt so bad and I came across At Home Veterinary on google, who I called immediately. Emily answered and was so kind and understanding, and had Dr. Leshanski email me after receiving pictures of the wound. The two came over the next day, gave her an exam and checked the wound, and gave me some antibiotics for her. There were no lectures, scoldings, or ANY kind of talk that made me feel bad about what I did, as I'm sure he knew I felt bad enough. Instead, for over an hour he listened to me ask frantic questions, pour out my concerns, and answered them genuinely and reassuringly, all while Emily played with my girl and made her feel comfortable! Since the incident, I have kept in touch with Dr. Leshanski, emailing him pictures of the wound to show progress, and he has been amazing at answering me, usually I hear back within two hours. If you go anywhere else for your pets, I strongly suggest you rethink and give At Home Veterinary a call. Dr. Leshanski is a person who was born to help animals.

Lindsay Boone

Dr. Leshanski is honestly the kindest Vet I have ever met. I am sometimes a nervous parent when it comes to my dog and anytime I call him he always answers and puts me at ease. I count myself and my dogs very fortunate to have come across such a caring professional.
