I couldn't believe the lack of empathy that I got from this woman. It all boiled down to money as she claimed that it would be over 900 dollars to treat my puppy for parvo and that everywhere in Las Cruces would charge me the same. I took my sick puppy home in tears and called silver city Advanced Vet Care and I had never received more compasion and understanding. And that 900 dollar claim "doctor" Schumacher made was crazy expensive compared to what I paid Dr. Bradberrys clinic. Recently my nephew was completely taken advantage of at this clinic. He was told a completely different price to get his dog the surgery on Friday and by Monday the price more than doubled. He was given one minute to decide on taking his dog in critical care home or to have him euthanized and He ended up feeling pressured and bullied into the decision of euthanizing his furbaby because the price was to much for him to come up with in one minute especially since the original price of the surgery was now the price of the stay during the weekend and he had to pay that. I am glad she has made those who gave her high ratings but I will never forget how worthless she made me feel and my nephew feel. I can definitely say I will never be advising anyone to her.

I can't say enough about the doctors and support staff at Schumacher Animal Clinic. We switched to Dr. Schumacher in January and our only complaint is that we didn't switch years ago. As long as I live anywhere in this area, this will be my veterinary clinic of choice.

Went to the shot clinic that they held in the parking lot of East Picacho Elementary today. I went to pay with TWO twenties ($40 total). One gal with a nose ring was trying to sell me heartworm pills and I told her I couldn't afford it because all I had was $40 cash, (as I showed her my money in-hand). The shots for my dog cost me $25 total. I gave the gals my money and they would not give me my change at the window, they said, "we will give you your change in the back of the truck", where the shots were to be given. Hesitantly, I went back there to get my change and be with my dog, and the gal tells me I only gave her $25 total!!!! They all affirmed they had only one $20 bill in the till, and they looked at me like I must have been mistaken. Someone back there is definitely not being truthful, (and likely has a pocket full of cash). The gals in front saw me wave the TWO 20's as I said I could not afford heartworm today. Someone pocket my cash. I'm grateful I am not a person in need... What if I needed that $15 to put gas in my car??????????? Or buy food for my kids????????¿??????? It makes me very upset. On the shot documents there is no indication of the cost of shots, no receipts, no nothing. No good. We were rushed right to the back. Awful experience... I will never use this clinic ever ever ever, and I would most definitely never recommend it to anyone. They should learn to screen their employees... ATM machines do not give out $5 bills and those two twenties were the only cash I possessed. It was cash or check only that they accepted with NO RECEIPTS GIVEN!!!!!!!!!¡!! RED FLAG!!!!!! My mistake for going. I only hope they actually gave my dog the proper vaccinations.

We had been going to Dr. William Schumacher for almost 30 years and were always treated with respect and compassion. Now that he has retired, things have changed. The connection and compassion are lost. We had always been extended the courtesy of making monthly payments, and we have never missed a payment. But the final blow was several months ago, when Viola, the receptionist, loudly proclaimed that "we are trying to get rid of this payment plan crap" to my husband, while in the waiting room with 6 other people in it! My husband had never been so humiliated and angry. We are looking for another vet.

I took my dog in, on a SNAP voucher because my son and I operate on a pitifully small fixed income, to get neutered. Knowing that I was there on a SNAP voucher, the staff Still tried to talk me into over $100 worth of extra stuff. I picked my dog up Friday afternoon and they removed the cone from his head, gave me his meds and told me how to administer them, then shooed me out the door with no further instructions. Being that they removed the cone and said Nothing about licking, I assumed licking wasn't an issue, especially since I paid extra for the laser treatment. Well, over the weekend, I notice my dog Still Has His Balls! So I call the office and ask why. I get put on hold for 5 minutes and when the girl gets back on the line she asks if his been licking and tries to sell me GD cone! Says he shouldn't be licking. I said, why was I not told this when I picked him up? "Well, everybody knows this. Plus, in on your invoice." I told her Obviously not Everyone knows this and I didn't get an invoice! She says, "Well, you were on a SNAP voucher." So. How. Was. I. Supposed. To. Just KNOW the GD aftercare instructions and what the hell does any of this have to do with the fact that my. Dog. Still. Has. His. Balls!?! She then tries to convince me that Swelling resulting from licking is making it Look like there are still testicles in that supposedly empty sack. So... Why does he even still have a sack!?! I have NEVER seen a neutered dog with a sack! Bottom line, find yourself ANY vet but this one!

We hat I just learned about this place is they DO NOT care about emergency. My mother's chihuahua food was cought in this contraption and when I knocked on the door, she said it was closed. I asked her 3 times for a refrence but she couldn't think of one. Then she said "well for 100 dollars more" we can take her right now". I said I don't give a f**ck she just needs help and she replied I don't like your attitude and shut the door. I understand her getting upset about my cursing but to denie the dog medical care is beyond me. I will never trust people like that with my animals. I took her down the street to South walnut, they were on break but they STILL took her. I see alot of good reviews, but if you have a emergency I suggest you take your animal else where.

Dr Short is very knowledgeable on teeth and takes her time to explain dental issues. She did 10 extractions on my little chiweenie who has extensive enamel defects. He came home much happier without his painful teeth and you'd never have known he'd had so many out. Definitely recommend!

(VERY SHADY BILLING/OVERCHARGING HERE) When it comes to billing there is a highly suspicious amount of miscommunication between the staff. The front desk lady who seems to have a permanent scowl on her face, said one amount, and the Dr. Said something different. I have had credit here due to a past voucher that I was given, when I came back to use said credit I was told that I needed to pay out of pocket for the services rendered. Which is fine, but when I went to pay my bill the front desk person took my money before I had a chance to look at any reciept, and after reviewing the bill they took my money which was NOT in fact OWED, and also charged me for a medication some months back that I never picked up! It was extremely unprofessional, of the Dr. And employee to try and justify stealing my money. They both knew that they were wrong, just based on the previous reciepts and lack therefore OF, it shows clearly that they overcharged me and instead of refunding me rightfully they sat there annoyed that I was challenging them, and fabricated some frivolous story as to why they CANNOT give me my money back. She even went as far to say "this is usually more, I gave you a deal", which tells me there is a fair amount of bending and manipulation done here. If made right then Im happy to change my outlook on this place but that would entail a refund and an apology. I'd like to urge others, if you're reading this and care for your pet, you're much better off going somewhere else! Especially if you have a voucher, they treat you horrible here. DO NOT GO HERE! EXTREMELY UNORGANIZED BILLING, AND DECEPTIVE, RUDE BEHAVIOUR.

I cannot begin to express how thankful I am to have found Dr. Kyle. She was able to accurately diagnose my dogs chronic allergy issues and figure out an affordable treatment plan. Before her I went to 7 other vets in LC for them to tell me it was this or that. My poor puupy just suffered. Plus they are the only vet in town to carry the Lyme disease vaccine. A big plus for those of us who are not native to NM and want to keep up with regular vaccinations just in case. Give them a shot, if you want a caring, quality vet team.

I take both of my dogs to Dr Schumacher's practice even though they're all the way across town from where I live because I've always had a good experience with everyone there. The vets always take the time to answer questions you might have and let you know what's going on with your animal. As a bonus their prices on any medications you might need are as good as what you'll find online for the same medicine--they seem to do a good job of keeping veterinary care affordable. I'll tell anyone who asks about where to take a pet to visit this practice.

Switch to this vet 6 months ago. Today, that my dog need emergency attention, my clerk was told they can't see her until next week. I called myself to make sure there wasn't a misunderstanding about the urgent need for care. When I called I told the person who answered that my dog need urgent care and was told to hold because she was on another call. Does emergency care not matter to these folks? Do they not know what "urgent" means? It doesn't mean an appointment a week from today. So disappointed. I called my old vet, they're going to see my dog in 45 minutes.

Dr. J. Kyle Schumacher, I understand that the piece of paper hanging in a frame on your wall says that you are entitled to practice as a veterinarian. However, your lack of empathy, your heartless and hurtful tactics, your shameless dances around a set price for a procedure and your absolute utter lack of ability to give a damn make you the most unqualified person I have ever met to hold a position in which compassion should be one of your most important assets. In addition to everything else, you gave my son less than 30 seconds to say goodbye before you injected his friend – his companion – his dog. If I can protect anyone else from experiencing the way you have made my son feel, then I will feel a small bit better about the events of the last few days.

I don't write many reviews, but it's not always easy finding a good place to take care of your pets. My dog is very timid and so I have an especially hard time finding a place he feels comfortable. He was very much at ease the moment we walked in, and the staff was ABSOLUTELY GREAT! Oh, and we didn't even have a long wait even though others were coming and going the whole time. I highly recommend.

Very positive experience with Dr Kyle Schumacher and her staff. My regular vet referred me to Dr Kyle Schumacher for endoscopy on my cat in hopes of avoiding major surgery to retrieve a foreign body from his stomach. Even though I was not a regular client, I was treated exceptionally well. She talked to me and examined my cat and addressed all of my questions and concerns, as well as what I should realistically expect, before I left him. Less than two hours later she called to inform me that the procedure was a success. When I picked him up that afternoon, her office was very busy but she took the time to personally talk to me about what she had found and provide aftercare instructions. And, it all came in at below the cost estimate. Thanks to Dr Kyle Schumaker and her staff for everything.

I have been in this city for close to 19 years now & when I have taken ANY pet, stray or new addition to my family (service animal) here I have NEVER been disappointed! BEWARE this place is awfully and Dr.Anderson is horrible I took my puppy their and he was neglected not taken care of they weren't treating him. And didn't even try to care for my animal. Don't go here especially if you go with a voucher they ignore your wishes and just do what they want that's not how it's suppose to be as your fur baby's owner you should have a say in what happens to them. My heaven was even worse when we went t pick her up then when we took her. And because of that she is no longer with us. Do not trust these people please take your fur baby's somewhere else...

As a veteran I'm deeply offended by the way my sick 5 month old baby and I were treated. Their lack of concern is odious. They should be shut down. I took my baby to the Animal Hospital on North Main Street. Avoid this pitiful place if you are a person of color other than white please.

All staff, Dr.s and assistants included, are obviously animal lovers as welfare of your pet is always their first concern. I've seen them drastically reduce cost of emergency procedures for pet owners who were unable to pay full cost and they are very sensitive to owners wishes and concerns. Tend to be much more affordable then other vets in town.

We love Dr. Short and the whole team at Schumacher's! We have 2 dogs - one dogs who's only needed shots but our other dog has had 2 (TWO) emergency procedures over the last 3 years. One was an abscessed tooth and the other was a terrible skin infection. Both times Schumacher Vet Clinic was very helpful (even taking late calls in the night) and the total costs were reasonable too! My mom's a retired veterinarian, so I can't help but ask her opinion of what our vet recommends (and the associated costs). Mom's always impressed with the treatment recommended by this clinic and thinks they're charging a good fair price for services and meds. I fully trust them and recommend their services to everyone with adored pets!

Service was awful. Our dog had parvo. The bill of course was going to be high. Not to complain about that at all. But the service after we went to pick up our dog was horrible the Vet gave us zero update on how our dog was doing. She told the secretary in the front to tell me the instructions for the antibiotics, instead of being the Vet and coming out her self to update me. I had to make it known I wanted to talk to her. She came out and was extremely brief. Would not tell me the results from the updated test unless I asked, even when I asked she didn't give me exact numbers. Would not explain how I would know if my dog would be getting worse. Told me she's a young, big dog she "should" survive but would not tell me her chances. Horrible service on her part. Would not recommend them to anyone who cares about their animal.
