Great country feel. Helped my puppy feel better
They saved our puppy.
Great place. Very helpful people
5 star experience all around. friendly/family environment. Treat your pet like he/she is theirs.
They were amazing! Bandit had his first visit ever6y and we will not take him anywhere else! Thank you!!!!
I absolutely love this place they are so on top of things not dirty very nice people would recommend this place to everyone if you want and not very expensive
I like this vet. Everyone who works at this office, regardless of their job title, has been kind to both my animals and my kids. We’ve had all good experiences.
My daughter has a flame point Siamese that was extremely constipated and had to be kept there at the vets, they gave us a time frame of around 7 days but we explained we couldnt afford that much so they werd able to fix him in 3 days and he was so happy
We take both of our dogs there. The staff is friendly & professional & very patient and gentle with the animals. You can tell they treat them like family.
We had an emergency and with one call they got us in quickly. They got my dog stiched up good. And they sent us home with some antibiotics and pain pills for the dog. They did a great job and the bill didn't send me to the heart hospital.
I have used Western Trails a few times for my very large dogs. All of the staff, from the front desk, to the veterinarian herself, were very professional and kind to me and my animals. My dogs have received excellent treatment here and I am happy that there is such a great place to take them. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic.
Western Trails Cares We moved here in March 2016 and needed a Vet for our 14 1/2 year old fuzzy boy, Larry. My first encounter was with Joan and Shayna at reception. I had Larry with me. The ladies were professional and very pleasant, (every time we went there regardless of how busy actually). They scheduled us with Dr. Hutsel, who at his first apt knew exactly what was going on with him. We had known that he wasn't doing well, but thought it was just his age, because that is all his other Doctors had told us in the past. After confirming with tests, he was put on medications, and we almost immediately, saw fantastic improvements. He felt good and was happy again. He had a regular Vet Tech, Samatha, who every time we went in for a check up, treated him with such love and kindness. We were blessed with almost 2 additional years of love with our little fuzzy boy. When the time came for our special guy to move on, Dr. Thornton handled it with gentle compassion. Animals have always been a part of my life, as far back as I can remember. I have always made sure they had proper and regular Vet care, but I have NEVER encountered a Doctor who has the Care, Compassion and Knowledge that Dr. Hutsel has. If you have an animal that you love, whatever the species, Western Trails is the place to take them; they care.
They were amazing with all 10 of my puppies
They are open for emergency 24/7 365 days a year. That's amazing for a small town.
Don't let the rural location fool you..this is a top notch veterinary hospital with an incredibly knowledgeable staff and amazing doctors. We take our dog to this vet even though we live in Albuquerque. They are reasonably priced and can treat a variety of conditions.
Real nice
My wife and I have been using Western Trails for eleven years and have been pleased with the services and care our animals have received. The critters they have treated range from a domestic rabbit to my wife's horses. The staff and doctors have always been attentive and responsive to our needs. The familiarity they've established with us and our animals enhances the effectiveness of the care. Docs have come and gone and we miss a couple of them but we've never been given reason to question the competence of any of the vets at Western Trails.
Such a great veterinary hospital! Friendly staff and so caring. We are traveling on the road (from PA to CA) and our poor pitbull wasn't feeling well so we looked up nearby vets and found Western Trails. We took him in and found out he had a fever and lyme disease. They took him in right away ran some tests and gave him an IV to lower his fever. They thoroughly explained everything to us and kept him over night. Gave us some medicine for him and he is back to normal! Thank you to all the staff. You all are truly amazing!
Always the best care. I wouldn't take my animals anywhere else!
They really did a great job on my baby!!
Great staff. They really take care of our furbabies!
I am very happy with the service I have received at Western Trails. They were able to get me in last minute when my usual vet could not see my puppy. Dr. Clark is so nice and caring. She diagnosed my puppy and checked her every week until she was better. All of the vet techs and front desk staff have been nice and helpful, as well. This is a very busy clinic, but I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for the vet. Their prices are also really affordable. I can't say enough good things about them. Thank you Western Trails!
Great place to bring your animals. The staff and Dr's are great and super friendly. Dr Clark is very nice and great with animals
All of the staff are wonderful and caring individuals. I have been coming here for many years.
Best Vets and staff I've ever had, and I've had many in multiple states!! Helped me get my puppy adopted and upto date after finding her abandoned on the highway! Took time to answer all my questions and checked Sonya out thoroughly before giving all necessary shots etc. Made me feel like family, not a client and treated Sonya like a princess!! Love them!!!
We've been taking my dogs here for years. Staff is skilled, professional, and transparent offering affordable and friendly service. Dr. Hutsel called us on a Sunday (her day off) to give us updates on our sheltie Mia. Although this isn't the kind of service we demand or even expect, it's still the service we receive. Although there are other vets that are closer/more convenient and perhaps even cheaper to us, we still choose Western trails. So should you.
Very thourough. Im glad theyre there.
Very respectful. My dog passed away and they sent me a sympathy card and said that they were very sorry they couldn't do anything.
Too expensive
Friendly staff, happy healthy dog.
Not too bad of a vet office
Very good experience. Reasonable prices. Dogs liked it.
Friendly and caring people...they seemed to truly care for both of my cats.
This place don't care how pet owners feel about their pets. I took my little family member there to be seen, and one week later he dies in my arms I called and told them he past and they never told me sorry . I won't send any of my friends there that has animals there
With 6 horses, 4 cats and 3 dogs living on large acreage in a rural environment, we depend on caring, knowledgeable and sensible vet care. In the last year, after years without incident, we have had a dog gored by a stag, a dog with plague and a dog with a broken leg. Thanks to Dr. Boswell and the rest of the staff, all have recovered fully and we still have enough money left to eat! I have a lot of respect for the vets and staff at this office, and have never met with anything but kindness, compassion, excellent care and good old fashioned common sense. They all listen to the owners and respect that perspective; they explain things clearly and intelligently; they reach out with that extra attention when we have been stressed and concerned. I consider myself very lucky to have this vet practice available.
They do a lot of community work for animal shelters.
Dr. Hutsel is amazing. We love her as our pet doctor. She is on top of everything. Makes you feel at home and your animals safe and well taken care of. The management is also simply amazing. I'll never go anywhere else.
Best vet ever!!! Dr Clark is thorough and very caring to both pets and their people...
Kind helpful caring
I used to take my animals here all the time but they are way over priced. I highly recommend east mountain veterinary clinic very reasonably priced and they actually care about the animals.
This vet gives careful attention to each of my dogs, no matter how big or small their issue might be. It is worth it to me to make the drive from Albuquerque to Edgewood for the superb care and service we receive from the staff at Western Trails.
Wonderful staff, they made one of the hardest experiences of my life a lot easier
Knowledgeable veterinarians and reasonably priced service
Very good dr.and assistant
As the years have gone by this place has seemed to have gotten more pricey and I don't feel the staff is friendly. Just not a cozy comfortable atmosphere to sit with my pet. Had a couple of bad experiences here. Will never go back.
Excellent service and vet
Very nice place with good people. They take care of my dogs.
This is a great group of Veterinarians. They not only do cats and dogs, but horses, bunnies, goats, etc. They will do house calls and emergencies for their clients. They remember you and your loved ones.
My wife and I have used Western Trails Veterinary Hospital for several years. The vet and staff have twice made an after-hour house-call to tend to an injured horse, once in mid-winter. The staff and the veterinarians have always been courteous and professional. We have never had unreasonable wait times for an appointment. Twice each year Dr. Thornton schedules house-calls to update vaccinations. This saves me the effort of loading the horses and taking them to the clinic, but it is particularly convenient since the dogs get vaccinated at the same time. I highly recommend Dr. Thornton and Western Trails Veterinary Hospital.
Great people
Worth the drive! Every person there are amazing!
Amazing staff very helpful and knowledgeable
Pricey and then found out part of it was because a thyroid test I paid for was actually two thyroid tests. One in house and the second sent out. So they made money on both tests.
The best veterinarian very professional
If I could I would rate no stars went in to have my dog seen the lady at the desk was rude and very unprofessional. I would not recommended this place to anyone.
Just had another dog spayed and chipped. These folks is straight up professional and freindly
I've never had a pet emergency before. But about two weeks ago my 4 month old puppy got very sick and we were very worried. My in laws recommended Western Trails. We took our sweet Buddy in and from the moment I stepped in the door they made my dog a priority. They did a very thorough exam and concluded she has a forien body. They prepared two estimates and walked me through my options. My poor little Buddy had to have surgery and spend almost a week with the Vet. They were never annoyed with the many calls I placed to check on her and even made it a point to let me know we could come and visit. The entire staff was a complete dream and continue to be through our dog's recovery process. I will be taking all my animals for thier regular visits and if any emergency arise I know they will be in amazing hands at Western Trails!!
This is where I take all my animals.
Great people
Awesome vets just outside Moriarty
I had to utilize their service after hours with the on call doctor. Everything was done in house, urine analysis, x-ray, and full blood work. Dr.Thornton was professional and caring, and I would definitely recommend this clinic, and I live in Texas!
Would rate higher if I could!!!!! They're very friendly and made my fur baby as comfortable as possible! Very reasonably priced too!
Long wait and expensive
An absolutely amazing vet hospital!! They really care about the animals. Dr. Clark was amazing and very knowledgeable. She even interacting with me via text following my pet's emergency surgery fairly late at night when I was worried. Just really had a great experience!!
Very friendly and thorough. We bring our goats out from Corrales to get care here.
Very compassionate, professional and knowledgeable. Saved my Chihuahua's life after a rattle snake bite on a Sunday evening.
Great vet and we have always gotten great service here for our animals at a reasonable price
Tigger and Raven are always welcome here
I always take my 2 German Shepherds here, plenty of running space right outside with no distractions, Dr is so caring about animals as if they are her own !
Great vet I use them for years
Very caring doctors and staff
i took my dog there for 7 month, many tests were done, many meds were given,i was advised to feed my dog a diet that cost me 100 dollars for a med sized bag, allergies were suspected. Just to find out (after taking her somewhere else) that my poor, suffering dog simply had scabies!! Well i am very happy to now be able to help my dog, and i am sure that the vets at Western Trails did their best (they were very nice), but, my goodness!!
Best vet in the east mountains!
I came in with a very pregnant kitty who was in a lot of trouble. I wasn't sure what I was going to do and they were so wonderful with me and my girls. Momma had to have an emergency C section after hours, sadly we lost the babies. I can't thank these lovely ladies enough, for going beyond what they had to, to help us.
Thank you for the excellent care for our animals!
I don't recommend this facility, there are quite a few reasons. Mainly the disinterest of the staff and the wait time. When I first brought my dog and cat to this clinic all that was needed was a few routine shots for my dog and a steroid shot for my cat. My husband and I were slightly disgusted to see fresh blood in the waiting room! OMG! Not only was I in pure shock we then had to wait two hours just to see someone, and she wasn't even the vet. I could go on and on let me tell you. I wanted to give this place a second chance because the staff seemed overwhelmed that day and so I decided to return (bad move.) The women here are abrasive, disinterested and unorganized. The few times I have visited this clinic I have had a real conversation with a Professional Veterinarian once for a total of 5 min. Western Trails might be conveniently located in the east mountains, but for what its worth I'm taking my business over the hill to ABQ.
They are so sympathetic when having to put your fur baby down and they make a complimentary paw print for you to keep forever ❤️I appreciated that a lot
Good service's
Nice staff, friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended
I have always received excellent treatment with my dogs. The staff are great
Very nice and professional people. Great with your pet!
Great people that care. Keep going back.
Love the energy and friendly atmosphere. Our dog loved the vet and she doesn't like people.
Dr Clark was a Jewel, gave me several options so that I wasn't dialed into the most expensive option for my Panda heeler dog. Very friendly and informative probably one of the best vets in the East mountains!
Great vet. But billing is questionable. All in all vary good.
Will NEVER do business here!
We went to Western Trails in an emergency with my husband's pup!!!!! She was in shock, having seizure like behavior, and had a severe calcium deficiency. They gave her a calcium IV, and she pulled out of it!!!!! The vet came out and talked to us, and told us what we needed to do. AWESOME STAFF, they were very comforting during the situation we were dealing with. They took very good care of Jackie, and she's doing great, and fully recovered!!!!!
Nice veterinary. Staff seemed knowledgeable. I passed on getting my pet fixed here bc they wanted me to bring my pet in for a health prescreen b4 surgery to spay. It would have cost me the extra amount for the animal to basically have a physical which vets used to do before a spay or neuter anyway at no charge.
Great Vets. We love this place.
Love the docs & front desk staff
Love how they welcome you. They make you feel like family. They take really care of my dog when I left her for surgery. They treated my dog like their own animal on pet
In November of 2015 my wonderful and champion paint gelding was injured. He layed down in his stall and some how put his leg through the wall. His hock was torn up. His only hope was surgery. Dr. Boswell and the rest of the staff jumped in to save my babies life. It's now March and he is going back in the show ring thanks to them. I thought I would lose my my everything. To some he is just a horse but to me and my family he is everything. If you want to see just the kind of work they do. Then come to a New Mexico Pinto Horse Show this year and come see Billy show and do what he does best. He may not be carrying me in the show ring but he will be bringing my son up to ride right. So thank you western trails for saving the horse that has made so many people happy. Because every animal deserves a chance to live the life as full and as happy as we can give them.
200 dollars to put my baby down , there only money hungery they blurt out how much before they even know what's wrong, they seem to have no passion of the pain we are feeling loosing our baby just money, money money there surgery stunk to they did on my other dog they cut so much out nothing left to hold together oh but she should be fine we'll no . Took me 6 months to heal her leg myself so no they don't care about your animals only the money! Don't say I didn't warn you Thanks
Nice people. Attentive, professional, clean, very animal friendly and knowledgeable.
Ok.
Nice folks
I've taken two of my cats there and have always had a present experience. I recently took my cat who had been acting very strangely that we thought we might have to put her done. Dr. Hutsel took a look at her and figuared out she just had a U.T.I. We were so releaved. She gave us medication and made us feel better. All of the staff their took such good care of us. Highly recommend this place to bring your pets.
Love all of the Vets here- very compassionate practice!
Too many appointments set at one time so people are having to separate dogs in the waiting room. Friendly staff. Doctor misdiagnosed my dogs problem but didnt refund for meds nor visit. Very busy vet office. Crowded.
This is a pretty top notch vet. I have to disagree with the negative review from "Sicily Hoe" (fitting name, though). The staff at Western Trails Veterinary has been very easy to work with and friendly at all times with me (and I am not an easy customer). I feel like they listen to me and go out of their way to be courteous, even when I ask a lot of questions (including questions about pricing). Dr. Boswell has looked at my goats, Great Pyrenees, Anatolians, and German Shepherds at both her office AND at my home. She is very attentive, funny, listens well, and understands that those of us in the country who raise animals both love our pets/livestock AND want to save a dollar by not paying for extra services or medicines our animals maybe don't need or that we can’t afford. Dr. Boswell is also VERY knowledgeable and eager to share that knowledge. She sits down to explain to me in simple terms the science behind whichever medical issue is at hand with my animals. I remember recently her explaining to me at great length, with picture aides, the various differences in the cells of a dog in heat because I was concerned that my Anatolian had "mismated." She did not need to take the time to teach me everything I wanted to know about the biology of a dog going into heat, but I appreciated her doing it, and now I feel like I understand better when dogs are most fertile and what occurs in each stage of heat. Every time Dr. Boswell shares insightful knowledge with me, I feel like it better equips me to know how to deal with issues on my own instead of having to go to the vet every time a new issue arises. Although Dr. Boswell is extremely knowledgeable on a wide variety of farm animals and dog breeds, on more than one occasion she has told me that she did not know something for certain, but would find out. Sure enough, I would get a phone call later and she had by that time consulted with multiple vets she was friends with in order to find out what she needed to know in order to assist me in making a medical decision for an animal. I understand that no single vet knows everything there is to know about every single species of animal, so I appreciate the fact that she is honest about that and will work to find the answers to the questions I have, nonetheless. Dr. Boswell has also saved me from some unnecessary expenses in the past as well. Once I called the emergency after hours line of Dr. Boswell on a Sunday, and after some discussion with Dr. Boswell she advised that although she would be very happy to visit my property to attend to what I thought was an emergency at the time, she could also see my dog without an appointment as soon as she opened the next day in order to provide an urgent consult without me having to incur the additional costs associated with emergency care. So, if you want affordable and expert service from someone who will take the time to give you the information you need to make sometimes difficult decisions for your animals, this is a great vet. If you like to ask questions about services, prices, and the underlying biology of veterinary science, this is a great vet. If you are the kind to get squeamish at the sight of a drop of blood in the waiting room of a highly regarded and intensely utilized vet trusted by all in the community, then I would rather not stand behind you in line. Please kindly cancel your next appointment with Dr. Boswell so that I can get an earlier appointment with her to have one of my dogs neutered since all the other vets within 100 miles want to charge me MUCH MORE than what Dr. Boswell charges!
The best place in town
I love this place! Their kindness, compassion and professionalism is amazing! The doctors understand that pets are very important to their owners and are more than willing to talk about options, their treatment of both owners and pets is wonderful!
Great services
I love this Veterinary Hospital. When ever we bring in a our furballs the staff is always nice and friendly. Dr. Hutsel always has a smile on her face and is very thorough in her exams. She is also very informative in any and all questions you may ask. There prices are also pretty darn reasonable and affordable compared to other veterinaries around Edgewood.
Sweet Dr. THORNTON I LOVE YOU AND SO GREAT
Very kind
Dr. Hutzel and staff are the best. Their care and concern shine through every time I visit with one of my animals.
Wonderful vet clinic, that can meet all your animal needs!
I have had nothing but the best customer service from the staff. I was able to get a procedure done, at a cost that was within reach. Somewhere else and I may have had no choice but to put down our 14 year old. She is better at home now!
Amazing staff
Nice Dr., Front staff didn't seem happy
Dr. Hutsell and all the staff are exceptional. This is a busy clinic, and that's probably because everyone trusts them. I have four fur babies and would not take them anywhere else. One of my pups was diagnosed with diabetes while we were traveling in MN. He was admitted and in intense therapy there for over a week, we thought we'd lost him. Dr. Hutsell, unbeknownst to us at the time, is the expert on insulin levels. We sent her all his charts from MN and she knew what he needed the minute we arrived back in NM. He is still doing great over two years later and we are ecstatic!
Friendly staff i would recommend to anyone in the area.
Difficult to locate. Reception was slow to answer phones. Left me on hold. Expensive to trim dogs nails. Groomer charged half. But they did take me in without an appointment
Absolutely wonderful. Helped us make healthy choices for our dog when she had to get her leg amputated
I took my 7 month old pup in for a checkup because she hasn't been gaining weight or processing her food right. She was acting off and you could tell my baby wasn't herself. I took her in and $117 later they said she was perfectly fine so they gave her the last parvo shot she needed and something to help her stool be more solid. The following Monday we took her to a clinic to get fixed and the vets doing the clinic informed us that our pup had tape worm and that's why shes so skinny cause its pulling all the nutrients from her body so shes not getting the nutrients she needs. We won't be bringing our pups to this facility again.
The staff here always treat my pets with great love and care. They sent a grievance card when we had to put our beloved dog down and it meant so much to our family.
Real friendly professional people
They took exceptional care of my kitty for his surgery.
Great advice, good pricing.
Friendly staff knowledgeable doctors a little pricey excellent place to go
I am so grateful for this place and the compassionate people working here. We had to take our beloved pug to be seen yesterday. She was in such pain. Thank you for making her passing on more bearable.
Amazing staff! They helped us through a very difficult time and were very kind.
