Dr. Shupbach was the doctor on call when I called on a Saturday afternoon concerned about my cat. He was rude, inconvenienced, and obviously didn’t want to be bothered unless we wanted to pay money for an appointment. Why he is in a position where he wants to care for any being is beyond me. This bedside manner is exactly what discourages people from this clinic!!

Wow.... Took our cat in after she lossed immense weight during a few month period. Doctor said nothing wrong just old age. 300 hundred dollars gone We later find ourselves by chance that her teeth are roted and a huge infection is present. Took her to another vet and he was astonished the past report came back clean.

Taos Veterinary Clinic is the best! They saw my dog immediately when he needed care, and got him well again quickly. I trust them and my dog does too!

Good place to take a dog or cat. I have been using Taos Vet for 15 years or more.

We had an emergency when my dog was hit by a car. Dr. Ted was excellent. He provided great care and was very affordable. The vet techs were great. Everyone was very gentle and respectful. He was a semi-feral dog and they accomodated him and his idiosycrasies.

My family has been using this veterinarian clinic for 30 years. When I was a young child, we had to put down our horse. He came out to our house at the Pueblo and we all said a sweet blessing for the horse. Another time, our black lab was protecting our chickens from porcupines. His mouth and throat had been covered with porcupine needles. Again, Dr. Schubach drove out to our Taos Pueblo house and held my had as he comforted me. He sat with me and my dog as I said goodbyes. Over the years my relatives and I have used his services. He hasn't ever been anything but kind and willing to help our animals. I have tremendous gratitude to Dr. Schubach for his service to our community animals. Will always be my first choice.

This is not Taos Vet Clinic--it's the condos off Calle Casa del Cielo up 522 more north and on the other side of the highway!

Would've given this vet a zero if possible. I'm referring to Dr. Schumer(?). I called him clearly upset because my cats nails are overgrown and piercing her pads. I have called vets and groomers in taos but they refuse to cut her nails because I do not have proof of her vaccinations. She has NEVER bitten or scratched ANYONE. Due to the fact that she has a big personality and let's people know when she is upset or doesn't like something, they refuse to clip her nails. When I tried to explain this to him he hung up on me! Will NEVER take my cat to this horrible person. What would He have me do? Put my cat down because she has a big personality. Will NEVER recommend this vet for your beloved family members.

My puppy got sick, so I called my regular vet a answering machine came on had an emergency number to call so I did. A Dr. Shubach answered he told me to go to santa fe and hung up on me, I was desperate and scared for my puppy so I called back and told him your on call and from taos and I am from taos why would I go all the way to santa fe, I want to go to you, so he said come in. I went in he began to give my puppy a shot, I ask what are you giving her, I do ask a lot of questions and he said I hate alot of questions, so I shut up. When he gave my puppy the shot she collapsed, I began to cry he said if your going to cry go outside. Then he said all the blood work is ok but she is dehydrated so leave her here and I will put an I V, I said o.k. but what time can I pick up my puppy up tomorrow to take her to my regular vet. I am not kidding I have never experience this, his personality changed he walked to a room in the back slam the door hard, and yelled "I HATE STUPID PEOPLE!!!", I knocked on door, and said why did you call us STUPID PEOPLE, we are not stupid people he denied it. I got scared decided not to leave my puppy and when I paid him for emergency call and services he stated "sorry for making that comment to you". We all have our regular Dr.s and Vets why did he get so mad.... I Will never go back, his comments were uncalled for. He was very unprofessional.

They were there for us and our pet. Doctor and staff very personable and compassionate. Took extra time to show us lab results and consultation if possible future courses of action. Did not push unnecessary us for lab work

It is unfortunate that dissatisfaction occurs when we have to consider an emergency ahead of a non-urgent issue. We hope that people will understand when it is their turn and they come in with an emergency.

We have been more than pleased over the years with several dogs with minor issues. Less than a year ago our small 11 lb Coton was almost killed by a large Great Dane in our back yard, and Dr Ted saved her with IV fluids and other measures. This clinic is great and serves the community faithfully!

While visiting the area, one of our dogs developed a case of diarrhea which hung on for four days. I was hesitant to call this vet due to poor reviews, but other vets in the area had no openings. Taos clinic was able to see our dog that day. We saw the Veterinarian within 5 minutes of the appointment, after examination he was clear and concise giving an excellent overview of the issue and course of action required. As he estimated our dog was feeling better that evening and the diarrhea cleared. Charge for the exam, injection and medication was quite reasonable, much less than anticipated. I highly recommend this clinic.

Devin Beck

Took my dog here to get spayed and chipped. Everything went well and the service was excellent.

Being new to the Taos area I called several different veterinary clinics to make an appointment for a very ill barn cat who resides on the property I have recently rented. Due to the lack of kindness and empathy by many of the community concerning feral cats they have been left to their own survival instincts. If they are inconvenient they are either killed inhumanely or relocated to become someone else's problem. This cat has never been neutered which has caused him to constantly fight because of his uncontrollable biological urges. I came across him suffering with a purulent wound on his neck. I immediately called the numbers I found on-line hoping to find a compassionate response for this poor creature. I left a message on your message machine to make an appointment to have the wound seen and to schedule to have him neutered. I was told my call would be returned. To no avail! The wound is now badly infected and the cat is very ill. I drained the abscess as best I could and applied topical antibiotics to the area. I kept him hydrated and fed but he needs professional help I cannot give him. Due to him being semi-feral I need an appointed time to be able to catch him. His appearance on the property is erratic. He usually appears very late into the evening. The earliest appointment I could get from another clinic is 2 weeks away! I have a commitment out of town and have to leave this weekend. No one else here cares about this poor creature and will not take any responsibility for him. Please do not say on your telephone message that someone will call back if you do not intend to do so, or hire receptionists with at least have some level of compassion and integrity...I fear this cat will die due totally to lack of human compassion.

Front desk needs to be more pro active! Since I'm leaving for vacation, ask if a cancellation might work for me. Last year visit with the Vet was great!

I took my dog Luna here a few years ago for a broken pelvis also took her in the middle of the night because she was in pain and lethargic but she just ate something that upset her stomach. Took Nova today and although very busy the vet staff was very friendly to me and my kids. They were also very sweet to my big pitbull who was also very happy to meet them. The appointment cost $50.50, medications about $25 each. Yes vet bills can be pricy but so can doctor bills if you're paying cash. I'm feeling hopeful that Novas treatment will help her skin condition. We shall see. Thanks again for the good service.

Called Dr Shupbach with emergency as he was on call. Very rude & arrogant. Told me he had an emergency & since I had the nerve to ask questions concerning what I did/could do - told me he didn't have time for me & hung up. Why even answer the phone then? No concern for an animal that had been injured or compassion. If you care about your animals go elsewhere.

Allegra Huston

Very efficient and competent veterinary service for my cat. Thank you, Dr. Ted.

Beware of unprofessionalism to the T Where do I start ?!? Past year I came to them to get an international health certificate for my dog to travel all throughout Central America all the way to Costa Rica. We figured all of it out together with little to no hiccups besides the unprofessional lady up front with brown hair. They misprinted the official document and I had to drive back after starting my trip... I drove 45 minutes back to have them fix something that should have never been misprinted ( something as simple as my address ) So whatever , a few hiccups and rude office lady, I was on my way far far away from them. I'm returning to Costa Rica again with the same dog and I figured I'd return to them because they had his files and they had done the health certificate so it'd be on file and everything would go smoothly. The visit was and had paid $150 some odd dollars to get everything "figured out" mind you his office is an usda licensed vet clinic, they assured me everything was fine and yogi my dog was all set. I expedited the paperwork to get signed by the APHIS office in California and they called me saying I didn't have one of the three main papers that are needed.. After days and days of headache trying to get ahold of multiple different offices and get everything all situated, I feel like I needed to write a review They didn't even complete the health exam by giving him a parasite exam. So I had to last minute make an appointment with a new vet, pay another 265 dollars for the visit and medications that should have received at the time of my first appointment with Taos vet clinic I've never felt so cheated by a vet office. If you have accreditation for vetraniery services don't you think that you wouldn't have any hiccups or miscommunications in your practice ?!?! the office lady with blonde hair though was very helpful and told me that this situation made her very frustrated because how unprofessional it was. Whenever I come back to visit family in Taos I find that there are so many incompetent people in this town but this so called professional office takes the cake for unprofessional people. I like the other male vet he's always nice and humble But I'm displeased by dr scubachts practice. I will NEVER EVER EVVVVER return to this vet

My wife and I have a twelve year old Lab that began having increasingly severe joint problems on our Christmas trip to our house in El Salto. I called Taos Veterinary Clinic and was able to get an appointment 45 minutes after I called. From the front desk person to Dr. Tidwell, to the charges for the visit I could not be more satisfied! Dr Tidwell put together an injection that seems (6 hours) after the injection to provide significant relief to my Lab. At the very least, we should be able to get back to our home before we have to take the next painful steps. I found Dr Tidwell and his staff very empathetic with our situation! I don’t understand how the negative reviews out there happened.

I own a 14+ yr old dog who was given 2+ more years of quality life by this clinic! Dr. Shupback is an excellent common sense diagnostician and a technically excellent surgeon. Vet techs and front office personnel are kind, competent and courteous. Taos is lucky to have them.....

Judith Cahill

I'm really surprised at the number of poor reviews. I have used Taos Vet for about 6 years for my dog and cat, and the service could not possibly be better. Never had a problem with front desk personnel either. Dr Schupbach is great and all of the assistants who have treated my pets have been great as well.

Ski Gypsy

Dr. Schupbach does an excellent job with my dogs-he handles them gently and takes the time to explain procedures and answer any questions I may have. I have been a client of Taos Vet for over twenty years and have always had positive experiences and interactions! Do not hesitate to call them if you need a good vet!

Mary Lipnicky

I was able to get in the same day when my dog had a breathing issue, and was treated so nicely by everyone from the receptionists to the vet techs to the doctor. I felt they really cared about my dog. Thank you Taos Vet!

adrienne anderson

I waited 50 minutes, saw the vet for 3 minutes and was charged $55.00 for the visit and $22.00 for 13 generic Rimadyl pills for my young dog's hurt shoulder. A bit spendy for a drive -by.

Desirae diamond

People in front desk are very rude and full of attitude definitely won't call or go there again.

Astrid Katt

The vets & staff at Taos Vet Clinic are outstanding. They genuinely care about our pets and take the time to listen & to explain things thoroughly. I couldn't be happier with the care that our two senior pups are receiving at Taos Vet!

Tabitha Hart

Had to stop here because we left our dogs thyroid medication at home and just needed to get a refill for a few days. It was astonishing how rude the front desk was through the entire interaction. I would never come back even if I lived in this area...

Jon Feldstein

The vet was good, but I am giving this review to the front desk person. I was on a payment plan and my payment was due in a couple of days. I called to make another appointment and she treated me as if I was late on my payment. Just some history, I had never gone to this vet before and they were nice enough to see my dog and allow me to pay a week later. I had never been on a payment plan with them before and certainly didn't owe them money from the past but she made me feel as if I had been late paying them previously. I called back and canceled the appointment and told her she was rude. She promptly hung up on me. I will now see a new vet in the future.

Taylor Jenkins

The ladies up front where so helpful when my dog got hit by a car thank you guys for all You're help.

Leanne Arvila

Never made it in to see a doctor, experience with receptionist trying to make appointment was unpleasant. Argued with me on the proper care for my exotic animal before the appointment was even made. Not very good experience for a prospective new client. Advice given by the receptionist was contrary to known professional standards on my breed and I could sense that they would not provide adequate care for my animal, possibly even be detrimental to him.

sugarcayenne seVen

Unfortunately inexperienced, insensitive receptionist is giving out medical advice without consulting a genuine vet tech or doctor, as have been my previous ecperiences. Cold, harsh, unempathetic, refused to allow me to speak with a qualified vet tech & hung up on me. My experience with the doctor & techs has always been positive & sensitive care, but whoever is answering the phone is not a good representation for the clinic. Not a good representation AT ALL. very disappointing. This one person's behavior Completely negates my previous very positive review ********************************************** Very good experience. my dog has a severe chronic condition. Taos vet gave us the RIGHT course of meds & were very understanding & forthcoming, very knowledgeable about her condition. i did not feel JUDGED- as has been the case at another vet in town. the meds were very expensive & i have very little money. the doctor generously gave us a discount on our office visit I have now changed vets

My fiancé and I were on vacation in Taos when our dog developed an eye infection. We were able to get into this clinic the same day. Dr. Tidwell was super thorough and informative. The front desk was very friendly, even called several days later to check up on our dog. His eyes cleared within a couple of days after he visit. The price was fair - comparable to our vet at home.

Lucinda Twins

MONEY!!!! THE LADY ON THE PHONE SAID I NEEDED AT LEAST $500 UP FRONT TO SEE MY DOG AFTER HE WAS HIT BY A CAR. NO COMPASSION OR CONCERN FOR MY DOG. GOD HELP YOU FOR ALL YOUR GREEDINESS!!!

Blaize Sun

Everyone here was professional and friendly. Everyone treated our dog kindly. We called after hours on a Friday evening, and they were able to see our dog the next morning. Prices were reasonable. We've found our new veterinary clinic!

Cathie King-Miller

My Cocker Spaniel had a lipoma that burst. Dr. Ted saw her immediately and took his lunch hour to do emergency surgery. My dog healed well and acts like a puppy again. We took our onery old Bassett in to get his nails cut and they had a hard time with him, yet did an excellent job. Everyone in the office, including the front office, was kind and personable! I have only good things to say about the vet and the office staff!

Damian Wright

I’m so pleased that these are my animal family health care providers! We live in a beautiful rural area! So grateful that Ted and his team are so skilled, talented and seriously intuitive with their care! Thank you for your wonderful service!
