We have been bringing our dogs to SJ Veterinary Hospital for 10 years now. They have always been great with them. We usually see Dr Shevokas because she has been the one taking care or our dogs and knows them, but all the Vets are great. If you have an emergency when they are closed you just have to call and one of them with get back to you usually with in 15 min.

We brought our long haired bunny in to have her nails clipped. She is very fisty when it comes to ANYBODY touching her nails. Since she was a new patient, she got a full physical and nails cut. The Vet who saw Snowball was VERY good with her. Our past experience at the vet's office, in another state, was that it took 3 adults to hold down Snowball! Here, the Vet held her and clipped her nails, and my son and I talked to Snowball. She was fine! They won our business! Great job, great service, great staff!

They took care of my Fur baby when he was in a pinch. Our dog Tunder had some random bout where his bowels just quit working (young dog at the time, fully vaccinated) it took about a week but they nurses him back to health. There were some moments where we thought we were going to lose him, but they let us come and comfort him and were very understanding and caring. This was almost a year ago and Tunder is alive and well!

We had a regular visit, just wanted our cat to receive some shots that she needed. She had some flees because we found her on the street, so we asked a doctor (an old man, I don't know his name) what was the best solution, he left and came back with a spray bottle, sprayed our cat a couple of times, without asking if it's what we wanted or not, and then charged us almost for the whole price of that bottle (we found the same stuff that he used online). So, if you care for what you spend your money for, like we do, better ask more questions and google online for those products. The solution for us was that they gave us $5 back, but they charged us $15 or $20, it happened more than a month ago and I don't have a receipt on hand. But I just wanted to show you, that there is no sense in paying somebody for something you could do yourself and especially for that amount of money.

I only wish they weren't so high or had a senor discount as I am on a low fixed income.I appreciate San Juan Veterinary for their professionalism. The vets are very knowledgeable and take the time and effort to make certain that my pets receive the best care possible. When one of my Chihuahua's died last September I called to let them know & you would have thought it was their pet too.. Today I lost my 9 year old Chihuahua & again I got wonderful treatment...Thank you all for being such a wonderful place to take my babies..

San Juan Veterinary offers very professional services, and we really trust our vet, Dr. Lohman. Our only complaint is the cost; our last trip to get a check up for our little dog, which suffers from congestive heart failure, cost over $300. Yes, they did a blood draw and x-ray, but people dote on their "critters", and this puts them in a real bind if they have to choose between their pet and, say, groceries.

Great techs however Dr. Heike is very argumentative and doesnt seem to be keeping up on her education. She argued with me about which meds could be sent to a pharmacy and whether or not they could be put on hold and when I explained to her I work in the pharmacy she didn't say she was sorry she just told me "well I can't send (brandname)! I can only send (generic)! Her job is a retail customer service job essentially, and sometimes being open to listening instead of swatting everything down can go a long way. Also she misdiagnosed my dogs ear infections last year and I had to treat them for seven months and nothing worked! Dr. Shevokas never even saw my dogs, recommended that I should change food because it sounded like an allergy and boom. She is infection free.

I have been using San Juan for over 35 years and every time I go in the prices go up and the quality goes down. The last time I went in for my dog losing his hair it cost almost $400 and was not what they thought but, I fixed it with $20 shampoo from pet co. And the vet was very rude! Will not be going back to this place.

Took my dogs here because of the good reviews, turns out all they care about is money. I do not recommend this place to anyone. They charge a "exam" fee every time you go in even if it's a follow up or just to get a shot. Now this wouldnt be a problem for me if they did a real exam. Not just a once over. I'm sorry but I takes more than 3 seconds to check a dog. They are also very pushy and try to make you buy the most expensive care for you pup even if it's not what they need. Over all this place may look like a good one but in fact, it's not worth your time. If you care about your pups and want a vet that really cares about them. I'd try somewhere else.

I've been taking my pets there for more than 10 years. I love the staff and think they do a great job. I did notice though that the all over service declined, probably due to high traffic. You do get a discount for having an appointment but yet still have to wait to see a doctor. Then you wait again to pay. Two of my dogs got misdiagnosed by different Vets. I think the high volume of clients puts a tremendous pressure on the entire staff and the allover care suffers. A loyalty program would be nice?

Horrible experience on every level. I was on a road trip and my 5lb. dog swallowed what I believed was a chunk of chocolate. (The size was twice the amount that caused him to go into anaphylactic shock a year ago so I was really panicked.) I initially stopped at another clinic in town and they told me it would be at least 20 minutes before they could try to get him to vomit. I called San Juan Vet Hospital to see if they could get me in sooner. They said "absolutely - bring him over and he'll be seen right away". I can't believe I fell for that. Front desk staff are dishonest and have horrible communication skills. While waiting, I asked them if they do morphine injections (because I know from experience this caused my dog to immediately vomit when he swallowed a grape last year). I kept asking them what treatment they use because I have charcoal and hydrogen peroxide and can figure this out on my own for free, but would prefer it they used something that I know is guaranteed to work (morphine injection). They would never give me a straight answer. I had to wait at least 25 minutes before they were ready for him. They wouldn't let me go back with him so I could be a part of his treatment plan. I was not allowed to see or talk to the doctor before or during his time in the back. I had no idea what they were doing with him and they wouldn't tell me. I had to wait another 30-45 minutes before I was able to meet with the doctor (Beth Lowman) to discuss what she had decided to do (without my permission). The info she was given from her front staff about what I wanted was totally false (staff member I dealt with was very low IQ staff and couldn't even pretend to care about the well being of my dog). I told several staff members that unless they use morphine injections I will solve the problem myself. The doctor said she gave him 3 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide to make him vomit but it didn't work. She said she could also give him charcoal and an anti-nausea drug to keep it down. I said the goal is to make him puke, why would you give him a drug to keep it down? She said that since the hydrogen peroxide didn't work, the goal is now to keep it down (WTF!!!! If he is keeping it down why does he need a drug to keep it down?) She shrugged her shoulders. She also wanted to give him charcoal despite the fact that I told her I have some in my car. The entire visit was 2 hours of mostly being forced to wait in the lobby and not having any idea what was happening to him. I was in the doctors presence for only a couple minutes. I never would have consented to what they did with him. I was charged $139 for 3 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide and a very traumatized dog. I deeply regret paying. (There's more to all the stress they caused but I don't want to write a book.) I should have walked out. (I realized later that my dog had swallowed a big nut and not chocolate, thank God, or he would have ended up dead in their care.)

I am a disabled military vet. I am on a pension and can't afford the cost these money grabbers charge. It's ridiculous. DON'T go here unless you have 3 or 4 hundred dollars to throw away.

My wife’s son brought his dog to these people was told he had a heart problem. Put the dog in there hospital. Two days later dog was going down hill fast. Was told the dog wouldn’t make it. Took the dog to animal haven. They did some test and was told the dog had a bad stomach infection nothing wrong with his heart started him on medication and 3 days later dog was up and playing.

Wanted to like this place but the vet we saw was terrible (Mikal). She was rude, pushy, and very condescending. She kept pushing us to do more tests which is not a huge surprise but she acted like we were terrible people for not wanting try the obvious first (which ended up being the problem). Was hoping to find a vet in town but this won't be the place since they tolerate this woman in their practice.

The vet and medical staff seems very caring. That said, that is to be expected however, one of the front counter personnel lack customer service skills and was very rude and dismissive sever all times...both on the phone and in person. Businesses need to realize that the first contact and resulting treatment by their front staff can reinforce or undermine confidence in that organization.

My friend and I brought our ferret by on July 28th after he started showing signs of illness. We brought him in to see Dr. Lowman and they did a full inspection with X-rays. They were able to determine the issue and prescribe medicine for him, along with giving us a full rundown on his anatomy and what the issues may have been caused by. Almost a month later, our little guy is back to his normal weight and is back to his playful self. We can't be more thankful for their time and expertise.

They didn't tell me what was wrong or give any suggestions on how to maintain his health but they gave him some pain meds and a vaccine shot. I hope that helps. My dog got hit by a car at my house and died here. He bled a lot in the parking lot and they never cleaned up the blood. My other dog was sick and they wanted to do 1600 dollar "exploratory surgery" which I couldn't afford so she died. They didn't even have a solution for a payment plan which I was willing to do. They absolutely didn't help me with my animals and the only reason I went back was because the other places in town had worse reviews. The best of the worst I guess.

Went there to have my pet put down. Staff was awesome. Gave me as much time as I needed with my pet before and after. Explained everything to me so I knew what to expect. I was allowed to leave through a side entrance after everything was completed. Gave me options for cremation, etc. Would have given 5 stars except I had to sit on the floor with my pet. Other places have a small room where you can sit on a couch or chair comfortably with your loved one.

Know their Policy & Procedures & Billing. Who has final decision over Your Most Precious Baby! I just wanted to make him as comfortable as I could for the time i had left. By own actions my baby was going to Die, because I trusted someone who I thought was my friend. I reached out for HELP, for someone to listen and believe me. By my own actions, again, My baby will suffer a horrible death, because I trusted this Vet and my family. A family issue came into picture, when it had no business there, so I was cut out of the process, me the Dog Owner, the name on account. I trusted them to help ease the passing of my one and only Kid, I trusted my family was there to support me and Todd. I was wrong to believe that they cared. Not one person tried to stop what was happening to me and my baby. I had my back against the wall protecting my baby, of COURSE I WENT crazy. Believe me or not., but ask yourself why was I refused to have copies of original paperwork made that could be witnessed by either myself, police officer or another employee refused! Why are they saying my dog was OK, but by leaving I was refusing treatment? Why when in their presence i tried to get 2nd opinion of another Vet and confirmed to help me and leaving office for Office Manager to tell officer something in his ear, then to be detained so I then could not make appointment to get 2nd opinion. And now I have a dog who was being treated for poison, not sure if results are accurate but maybe antifreeze or antifreeze like now fine? Because he is the 2nd Stage of being poisoned, return to Normal. Now is the decline, google antifreeze death for dogs. and tell me I am wrong. 06/11/19 @ 5:00-6:00am, time of possible exposure; 10:00am 1st symptoms appear, didn't quite know what was going on, gave water and started research on way to Dr. Appt. 11:00am, returned home @ 1:00pm, possible cause and realization that I missed my chance to save my baby. What can I do now he was poisoned and going to die, ask for help; 3:00pm to the Vet, ok we'll take care of him and do whats best for him, under the understanding i didn't want a big expense for nothing. I just wanted him to not suffer and to not feel pain. My pain must be felt, and now his will too because no one stopped what was happening to me. Please stop this from happening to someone else.

They are very professional and knowledgeable on the latest studies as well and being friendly and able to talk to about my concerns no matter how big or small. I am so happy with ALL the doctors, vet techs, and office staff. I highly recommend this Veterinarian office to anyone looking for a new vet. By far the worst veterinary experience I have ever encountered. This place rips you off every chance they get. We were told at our first appointment that we had to do an exam to get our puppy her shots. Each exam is $75 and consists of about 30 seconds of the vet looking at your dog. We did said exam and were told that the next time we came in to get the booster shots that we would not have to do another exam. Time comes around 2 weeks later to do the boosters, they put us with another vet without asking or telling us and we are charged for yet another exam without consent . So two puppy shots cost us almost $300. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. You end up wasting half your day in the waiting room and then get ripped off. They don't care about the animals there and are in it only for the money. If I could leave 0 stars I would.

Took my German Shepard to this people was told he had an infection. Was givin medication to treat the infection. Week and a half later dog got really sick. Started calling there emergency number. After calling 32 times and getting no call back went to the vet at 6:30 in the morning. Dog was in the vet for 3 hours then died. I was then told the dog did not have an infection but that it was cancer. On October 17, 2017 took our new pup for shots and a checkup. Was told the pup was healthy and a good weight. October 19, 2017 pup got sick we took him back to the vet now vet said pup was in bad health and very under weight. Could not get a solid answer on why one vet said he was a good weight and two days later now they say she was very under weight. This vet is only out for your money. They schedule so many appointments in a day the vet don't have the time to check your pets like they should. They are in such a hurry to get to the next client they don't take the time to diagnosed your pets problem. On three occasions they were in such a hurry they didn't even check my pets heart bet. They are just in and out. If you Love your pet, please don't take them San Juan Vet!

Lastnight we called about an hour in a half before closing with a very urgent matter and was told they could get me right in. I live only 5 minutes away and was in a room within 10 minutes after arriving, this was suprising and appreciated. The Vet tech came in fairly quick and got vitals on our dog and I was told that the Vet would be with me shortly... I was in the room for an hour with my dog bleeding out of his eye and was never seen by a Veterinarian. I even stood at the door to the lobby for 20-30 minutes and nobody was in sight, no patients or workers around. I walked into the back to have someone cash me out as I had called Valley Veterinary clinic and they were coming after hours to see our dog. The vet tech in the back seemed very surprised to see that we hadn't been seen by the vet yet and were wanting to leave. She proceeded to tell me they had 4 other walkins with only one Veterinarian on staff (Remeber I stood at the door to the lobby for close to 30 minites, also only vehicle parked out front) the vet tech went to unlock the door to let us out as I explained my disappointment from the lack of service and was told I was being rude. I wasnt rude in my opinion and im fairly certain they would feel the same way as I was in that situation. By the time it took me to drive from San Juan Vet to Valley Veterinary Clinic the on call veterinarian was waiting for me at the door, we were seen right away and out of the door withing 30 minutes. I will never take any of my animals back, which is sad since my family has been using them for 30+ years. It cost me $200 more to take my dog in after hours, which sadly after all the wasted time waiting at San Juan Vet it was after hours and I had no choice. If I could give 0 stars I would as I am highly disappointed in my encounter.

My two doxies are seen by San Juan Veterinary Hospital for all their care. The staff is always caring and attentive to details. My oldest dog, Dottie, got out of the yard and disappeared last summer. When found, she had obviously been injured. It was after hours on a Saturday afternoon and the vet who cared for her was thorough in his exam noting injuries not seen by us. She required some stitches and rest but was good as new in a few days. Wonderful vets and supportive staff. Highly recommend them! Another great year of tender, loving care for Dottie & Daisy by the vets and staff at San Juan Veterinary Hospital!

I had an appointment at 10 and was told to wait in my truck because there was concern that my dog had kennel cough. That was understandable since they don’t want to spread the infection to other animals in the waiting room. The front staff said they would have a vet and tech out to see us. We waited and waited. We watched people sign in and check out. So I figured they forgot us. After 45 minutes I went in and asked and was told they were very busy with a lot of emergencies. And that I was next to get a room. I waited 30 more minutes and just decided to leave after another round of people checked in and out that obviously didn’t have emergencies. I made another appointment at a different vet in town and was seen promptly within 5 minutes of my appointment time. I won’t be going back since we were treated very well at the other vet and kind of feel like they lied to us at this clinic about “emergencies”.
