Fair pricing and the staff is always great with our dog. We love how she is treated and the icing on the cake is knowing we are not getting ripped off like a lot of other places do.

Dr. Cooper is an awesome vet. The best vet I have Ever seen with my dogs. I have been to many animal clinics in ABQ on the NE side of town and I am VERY happy with the health checkup I received for my dog. In addition, the prices were reasonable.

Has been my family’s place for many years. The office staff is always professional and quick. For me, the veterinarians are mindful of presenting the best options available in relation to my budget, which is greatly appreciated. Everyone seems attentive, knowledgeable and enjoy what they do. With a special shout-out to Dr. Romero who’s great with my dog.

The staff and Dr. Cooper were very kind to my cat and to us. They helped us when he got sick, and also with the decision to put him down. They were very comforting and helped us think carefully through the decision. They're often very busy, especially on Fridays, but we think it's well worth the wait for their good care.

Really happy with the care the vets and techs show to my pets. Dr. Sadam really listened to all of my concerns and worked with me to find the right solution for my dog's health problem. Kind of a bummer they sell the brands of food that they do, but I've never been pressured or even suggested to switch my dog off of the high quality wholefoods diet that I feed them. Northview is also one of the most affordable vets I've ever been to and they don't try to add on unnecessary procedures which I appreciate.

Myron Grant

Good qualified doctors and caring medical staff. May take awhile to check in. Often put on hold when calling. Parking can be a bit limited at busy times. Usually not too hard to get an appointment.

My wife and I have been taking our four legged house guests to see Dr. Helper and his associates for 20 years +/-. I can't imagine ever finding a more caring, compassionate, and professional group of people anywhere to care for our pets.

All of our animals are patients at Northview. Their hours are fantastic, their prices reasonable, and I always trust the quality of care that the furry ones receive. They are generally great about short-notice appointments, too, and the only time we’ve needed to go elsewhere was during weekends for emergencies. Thanks to all the staff at Northview for the hard work with our pets!

I really wanted to like this clinic. I've been taking my older dog there for a little over a year now. Recently my girlfriend and I adopted another dog. Right after adopting him, we took him to northview for a check-up and to get him established there. A few months later, we planned on taking both of them to Mexico for the thanksgiving long weekend. My girlfriend scheduled an appointment with northview to specifically have both dogs examined and vaccinated before our trip so we wouldn't have any issues at the border. She mentioned the trip and wanting to verify vaccinations to both the front desk staff and the vet. After $190 for an examination of both dogs and couple other specific health checks (we wanted the new dog to have a few bumps checked), she asked for a copy of both dogs vaccine records so we could take them with us (assuming they were both brought up-to-date with their vaccinations during the examination). The front staff printed records for both dogs and we added them to our folder to take with us. It wasn't until later that we realized the vaccine record for our new dog was completely blank. It had the vets signature and the proper heading, but no information about any vaccinations. Luckily we caught that before driving all the way to Mexico and getting stuck at the border. We managed to get a rabies record from the vet the adoption agency used just before leaving the country. We also had to bring the new dog back after the initial examination because the staff threw away the sample they had taken from his bumps before the vet could look it it. In less than 6 months, our new dog was brought in three times and the first time was given an examination as a new patient. At no time, even after being asked to vaccinate for a trip to Mexico, did he receive any vaccinations from northview. As far as they were concerned he had 0 vaccines when coming in, and when leaving all three times. After speaking with the manager of the clinic (after driving to Colorado to ski and not being able to board him due to an expired bordatella and having to drive back), she offered have him caught up on his vaccinations free of charge. So we brought him back. After being called to the back room by the tech and told the vet would be right with us, we waited 20 min in the room only to have the tech come back and say "since he's only getting vaccinations I can just do them". This clinic definitely struggles with communication between their front desk staff, the vets, and most importantly, their customers. I even had issues in the past with the old dog where I suspected a UTI and brought a sample in and paid the lab fee. After the results arrived, I was called to bring the dog back, where I waited another 20-30 min in the room to meet with the vet only to have the vet tell me the sample wasn't good enough to determine. I was sent home and told to collect another sample. After doing that and paying another lab fee, I was told the second time by the other vet that the first sample was good enough and she didn't know why the first vet made me do another sample. This experience not only wasted a lot of my time, but also a significant amount of money. On the plus side, the staff is usually friendly. Even if we hadn't asked for them to be vaccinated to begin with, I cant get over the fact that they let a dog come in and out of their clinic 3 times without inquiring or notifying about vaccinations (especially during an initial examination). They even managed to give us a blank vaccination record without mentioning that it was blank. Could you imagine a pediatrician allowing a child to come in and out of the clinic three times without verifying vaccinations at least once. Unfortunately we will now have to spend more money getting our dogs established at another clinic and hope for better results.

Very disappointed!! I was told that our first wellness check would be of no cost and after the visit the receptionist says the total and that exotics do not get the exam free ...I was lied to and forced to pay for an exam and all I got was a sorry for the wrong information...

Dr Romero is the best Vet we've ever had. She's kind and caring and takes into consideration the finnacial burden a sick 4 legged family member can be. I've brought my dogs here for 18 years. It's probably a little more expensive than other Vets but well worth the money.

Great vets who care about your pets.

Excellent customer service! We unfortunately had to put our family cat to sleep and they got us in on a very short notice without being a current customer. They were very compassionate and helpful. Horrible horrible people. First they misdiagnosed my cat and told me to give her pain medicine. That didn’t make her better so I brought her back. All the staff there made me fee like it was my fault and that I was a bad person. Then They took money out of my account without my authorization. If you hate your animal take them here otherwise steer clear.

I have been bringing my dogs to Northview for 16 years. They are always accommodating and compassionate. I trust Dr. Romero completely, she is an angel!

Lee Roy Beard

For years Dr. Romero has been our dog's vet. She and the staff of Northview were compassionate, caring, and very interested in his health. Follow up phone calls checking on him were routine for Northview. Recently he became to ill to survive and we trusted Dr. Romero to euthanize him and return him home to us in a beautiful memory box. Her concern and sorrow at his demise approached ours. This whole place is filled with wonderful folks who'll take superb care of your pet. We want to THANK them all for their care over the years.

We took our very sick kitty, Simba, in late yesterday. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to him. It was a hard decision, but Doctor Sara Romero and the staff stayed late and helped us through it. Thank you for making Simba's passing painless and caring for us, too.

Always 30 minutes behind appointment times, rude receptionists, and dirty facility. Don't leave a message, they'll never call back. Our vet was nice though.

Michael Morad-McCoy

Arrived a few minutes early for appointment and signed in on their sign-in sheet. Was not addressed by any staff members for over 10 minutes while they answered phone calls, settled bill payments, and signed in others who arrived but did not sign the sheet. After finally being addressed, they took information then said I would be seen soon. 30 minutes after scheduled appointment time I still had not been attended to so I left and made an appointment with another vet. Decided waste of time and my poor, sick cat's time.

Elaine Sacoman

I went to Northview thinking it was another Veterinarian. Without an appointment, they fit me in even thought it was the end of the day. The staff and Dr. Cooper were great to my puppy and myself. My bill was even less than I expected to pay. Northview is my new Animal Hospital. I want to thank them very much.

If you're planning on traveling abroad, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT see Dr. Cooper. Worst experience I have ever had with a vet EVER!!!! She has no knowledge of the paperwork and left me in the office to "figure it out myself". Isn't that your job?? The techs had no idea what to do either, but bless their hearts for trying. I filled it out the best I could and another vet came in and gave them a dewormer they didn't need and I still had to pay for. The tech took the paperwork out of the room for Cooper to sign, 3 hours after I struggled , stressed, and cried to figure out what the heck it even was asking fit. I had to travel eight hours to this vet because the one close to me was closed as well as the Department of Agriculture... just my luck. The Department of Agriculture in Albuquerque was appalled with the paperwork she did send me back with. After driving back between the two offices for 8 hours, I was left in tears and panic that my furry friends wouldn't be able to travel with me. The department of Agriculture and the vets office felt so bad for me for the troubles I was going through because the front desk and dr. Cooper couldn't perform their job as described on the internet and assured by secretary staff. The USDA office couldn't even believe Dr. Cooper would sign her name on something that she didn't fill out, but made me. I was asked, "who is this doctor?! She made you fill this out?! She made you pay how much for this?! Who recommended her?!this is disgraceful!!" After all this was said and done, I was apologized repeatedly to by the sweet office manager, but not once did I receive an apology from Cooper herself. I thought maybe she would even call to apologize for her unprofessional behaviour, but I guess she would rather throw her staff under the bus for her lack of knowledge in a process she is supposedly accredited in. If you see this Dr. Cooper, I hope you realize how lowly I think about you and your arrogance. A poor excuse for a vet with no value in your work. I hope you apologized to your staff for having to clean up your mess. If I am ever asked about a vet, I will be sure to recommend someone else, and be sure to tell them to NEVER be seen by you. You're young and have a lot of learning to do, which should start with the paperwork of animals travelling to the EU. Just a suggestion. Boo to you!

Claire Middleton

Very caring and superior veterinarians.

Leigh Dean

Unfortunately, we had to put our 16 year old Jack Russell Terrier to sleep today. I couldn't have been more please with the care and kindness the vet and the staff showed to me and my husband. This was the most difficult decision, but they made it much easier. Thank you...

Kylie Heng

They saved my dog's life. Twice. The first time she had gotten into two advent calendar chocolates from Trader Joe's. They took her into the back immediately and force-fed her activated charcoal. After she had stabilized, the vet recommended she stay in a 24-hour emergency facility for the night to make sure she had recovered successfully. The second time, they found out she had heart worms after a routine checkup. My dog was immediately put on medication and gave us all the information we needed to make sure she would be okay at home. One day at home she collapsed and stopped breathing, and we rushed over to the clinic. She was non-responsive during the car ride, and as soon as I carried my dog in, one of the receptionists ran to find a vet while the other took her to the back for treatment. It was a horrible and worrying half an hour before a nurse came out to take us back and have the vet talk to us. Luckily, they had managed to save my dog's life. The staff are very familiar with my dog now, they recognize her and I can always hear them saying hello to her when she goes into the back. They are very friendly and understanding when it comes to pets and finances. I now have a cat and will be bringing her to this clinic as well. I trust them to give my pets the best care and treatments, and Dr. Pauly is amazing. She has helped my family save so much money from pet medical fees over the past few years. I recommend this clinic to everyone who has a pet and lives in the NE heights area.

Took my two kittens in for shots and was seen by Holly Dietz. First kitten did good, one shot and was quick. Second kitten was a tramatizing experience. The kitten was kicking everytime the vet stuck her with the needle and the vet drop the needle twice almost sticking me in the foot when she dropped it. After the second failed attempt of trying to get her her shot the vet finally got another "professional" to help. At least two more failed attempts at giving the shot and by that time the kitten was screaming, I turned my head and covered my ears. I should have watched because they gave me back my kitten and she looked like she was about to pass out and was very limp. The vet Holly Dietz was not compassionate and seemed very cold. My kitten has been limping since we've been home and don't know if it's from the shots or if they did something to her when I had my back turned. It was very weird they gave me her back and she was limp. Do not make an appointment with Holly Dietz! She stuck my poor kitten at least 4 or five times.

Friendly staff and good prices.

The staff and vets here are the absolute best. Dr. Pauly always takes amazing care of my dog, regardless of what we're in for, and unlike other vet practices I've been to, they're really reasonable - their fees are fair and you don't get charged six times for every exam, they're willing to call in prescriptions to your regular pharmacy if it will save you money or time, and they're incredibly open to figuring out what's best for you and your pet. The techs are all cheerful and friendly and my dog adores them, the front desk staff are professional and competent, and I really can't speak highly enough of everyone's professionalism. We've gone in for emergencies, for illnesses, for routine puppy visits... it's been great and affordable every time. Thanks, Northview!

My Great Dane puppy broke her toe while we were on vacation. My in-laws were caring for our dogs during that time. I was able to call the vet with my credit card number and they took care of my puppy. She had to be seen every 4-7 days for 10 weeks to change the splint. They are very friendly and loved my puppy as if she was theirs. I highly recommend this clinic. The prices are much more reasonable than most places.

Northview is a great place to bring your pet! I was going to another clinic when my dog, Theo, had an corneal ulcer. The previous clinic was stringing me along and it was becoming very expensive. It was when I was told his eye would need to be removed, I started looking around for another vet for a second opinion and I am glad I did! I was referred to Northview by a friend and it had worked out great. In my first visit, Dr. Helper suggest some alternative medications and a procedure that would help the healing process. Dr. Helper assured me that removing the eye would be an extreme measure and would not be necessary. I am so thankful to Dr. Helper and the Northview staff for their customer service, compassion and understanding during this difficult time for us. We will continue to take our dogs to Northview.

Our family has relied on Northview for 15 years. The doctors are always wonderful, taking great care of our furry family.

The practice manager at this vet is very rude. I have used this vet for 10 years and now they suddenly insist I have the same dogs they have boarded in the past seen by them for a wellness exam when they were just seen in Sept ‘18 in Texas by a licensed vet before I can board them. I can only believe it is to rack up the vet bills. The manager insists it’s a state law but can’t tell me where to find it. When I told her to just point me to the law, she got angry and hung up on me. I would steer clear. UPDATE: On 2-1-19, Northview sent me a letter stating they would no longer see my pets. Obviously, they were angry that I questioned them.

I will never take my rescued ferrets to anyone else unless it is a dire emergency. I had to do that once. The idiot didn't know how to put a catheter in my little guy and instead of calling in help he wound up killing my little PITA. If Northview had been open he would most likely still be with me today. Northview is THE best. Dr. Helper has been terrific with all of my little critters.

Outstanding customer service. Very caring veterinarians!

Our dog had to get a lipoma removed and the staff was very helpful

David Catherine Noble

My experience here was totally different than another vet we took our dog to after the other vet proved they were about $$ and expensive tests and discussing surgery-- and not about considering options that were reasonable for known issues. Northview was caring, effective, addressed and fixed known issues, not even discussing in detail extreme measures until it was determined that reasonable measures were not enough. they seriously went above and beyond what I would have expected in taking care of my dog, and reassuring me and following up. And their costs are ridiculously reasonable. I have nothing bad and only glowing praise for Northview.

The front desk staff, the vet techs, and all the vets are very kind and helpful. They keep me informed about how my pet is doing and what she might need. When my pet has gotten frightenly ill, they get her in to see the vet the same day I call. I also find Northview to be very affordable. My current dog primarily sees Dr. Pauley and Dr. Romero. My dogs who have passed away saw Dr. Helper for treatment. At a few urgent times over the years, my pets have seen other vets there. They are all skilled and kind.

Becky Hotchkiss

We've used this vet's office for several years and have had increasing trouble getting the front desk staff to follow up with medication prescription requests and have become very frustrated by their inability to return calls and make sure we are getting our dogs what they need. We've been told that a prescription will be called in by the end of the day and that we will be notified once that's happened, only to wait two days, not hear anything, call the pharmacy- no prescription, call Northview and be given the run around again on "calling it in by end of day", etc.) Additionally, I can't remember the last time I called the office and didn't have to wait on hold for several minutes, sometimes up to 10 minutes, which is a lot when your loved one is in pain or running out of a pill that keeps them walking and you've already called days prior with no response and the situation has become desparate. Despite the fact that the doctors themselves are fine, dealing with the front desk is a nightmare and we are looking for a better all-around office to take care of our pups.

Christopher Waller

Veterinarians that care and charge reasonable fees. Best vets in ABQ.

Dr. Chrissie Cooper and her vet tech took such wonderful care of my 13-yr old basset hound. He needed a cancerous growth removed and Dr. Cooper advised pulling some teeth, as well. She explained the process, made recommendations, and gave me advice about how to best care for him, and he's back at home healthy and happy! I'm so grateful for the time she spent educating me. Thank you!

Dr. Helper and his team are by far my most trusted vet professionals. Even after our family moved out to the east mountains (and Dr. Helper recommended a vet he trusted in our area), we continued to make the 45 minute drive to his clinic. Their ability to diagnosis quickly and accurately has saved the life of more than one of our pets over the years. He finds what others miss, and provides options without judgement. We’ve also had to euthanize three pets at Northview over the last 14 years, and each time they have been compassionate partners in our decision. I highly recommend their clinic.
