Very professional and honest. My kitty broke his leg so severely that an ordinary vet could not fix it. I took him to Dr Gruda where he was cared for very well and Dr Gruda in his honest opinion told me it was pretty bad and didn't know if he could fix it himself. I'm beyond thankful to Dr. Joy and Dr. Gruda for keeping my best friend alive, last year she became paralyzed, another vet office is town was closer to my house so I took her there but immediately regretted it- I went to Gruda for a second opinion- they ran xrays provided meds and she regained ability to walk on 3 instead of 2 legs! Today that same dog underwent surgery to have her eye removed because the Dr. knew that although my baby isn't in the best shape, and the use of her eye was gone, she still has a life to live. Thank you to ALL the staff at Gruda vet for taking care of my furbaby and being so wonderful to us.

The vet spent about 5 minutes with my cat, charged $100 and gave us eye drops that didn't work. When I called to see what we would be charged to return, since they did not cure him, they said it would still cost for the appointment. I am never going to use this place again. I was totally ripped off!

The best place to get expert treatment for your cats and dogs. Bob Gruda has performed carcinoma resections, tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, femur amputation of osteosarcoma, and chemotherapy on my animals with unparalleled skill. He is very dedicated and attentive to his patients and a gifted surgeon. He regularly performs sensitive and difficult surgeries for less than what a board-certified specialist would charge, and he found a way to work our pets into his busy schedule. He has received so many referrals that the practice has exploded, so appointments are a must. Well-trained, experienced vets work here: you cannot go wrong with Dr. Suzanna Jones or Dr. Lesley Gonzales. Like all vets, this practice promotes and sells Science Diet formulas. The best part of this practice? The knowledgeable, compassionate, highly skilled veterinary techs. However, if you want cutting-edge treatment for your dogs who have chronic or advanced osteoarthritis or other mobility conditions, go to Bounce Back Integrative Vet instead.

They did their best to keep prices fair and low if you are looking for a place to get the best deal as far as an ultrasound they were $400 cheaper than their nearest competitor and I search through almost 20 vets I definitely recommend the drive it is well worth it and they take very good care of your animal

Dr. Gruda is an orthopedic surgeon. Anyone trying to steer you to a different clinic by saying he is not, has ulterior motives. Over the years he has performed orthopedic surgeries on three of my dogs and the results have been excellent. He has a very good reputation in the community and gets tons of referrals from vets who don't do specialized surgeries.

Dr Gruda was excellent in assessing our Sphynx cat who had swallowed a foreign object ( twice in 3 months). He gave IV fluids and waited until the object was passed, no surgery was needed thanks to Dr Gruda’s clinical expertise. He is our new vet !

Dr Gruda seems very knowledgeable and willing to work with me for my dogs ultimate health and mobility . I am glad Santa Fe has a veterinary surgeon with his experience and caring. We will see how things progress, so far I am happy he diagnosed a problem that needs attention. I gave him an extra star, for his personal call to me to answer some questions. Although he is not board certified, he makes up for that in experience. Plus it's easy to tell he loves dogs. My little girl let him hold her on her back, he is the only person besides me that she'll let do that, she was so relaxed in his hands. I am now consulting with Dr Canapp in Maryland, a leading sports medicine orthopedic surgeon. Most people cannot travel that far, so I feel Dr Gruda would be fine, he said pretty much the same thing.

My experience with Gruda has always been very good, and when the time came that I needed to put my beloved cat to sleep I had no doubt where to go. I can not describe how helpful, caring and sympathetic the staff was to me in this difficult time. Rachel, the young and lovely assistant, was especially kind and helpful during what turned out to be by far a more difficult and traumatic experience than I have imagined. She well understood how hard it is to say good bye to someone who has been part of our daily lives for the past 17(!) years. I believe that putting down one's beloved pet is an experience that can be fully appreciated only by those who have gone through it. I urge anyone to use Gruda for treating their pets as this is a humane facility who thinks of the welfare of the animals first and not about the bottom line. Gruda seems professional and like they have great vets. The reason I don't give it a 4 or 5 star is because they are very pushy when it comes to your pet. You take them in for shots or for what ever reason and they want to pile up as much to your bill as possible things that you don't need or your pet clearly does not need. The staff in the front desk can be more polite. When I went in it looked like the front desk employee haven't slept all night she looked far from professional her hair and make up we're a mess and she was not in a good mood.

Gruda Veterinary Hospital has always provided the best veterinary services for our needs. Our cat recently contracted an unknown illness and we were very concerned. Dr. Jones, along with her very friendly and helpful staff, provided answers to all questions without hesitation. This included concerns about costs of elective testing procedures and overall effectiveness. Dr. Jones was wonderful to explain costs versus benefits, and taylor my cat's care to my financial needs. Our kitty cat, is now feeling much better, and I have the peace of mind that we made the right decisions during our office visit. Dr. Jones even called after her shift to get an update on our cat's health. The facilities are immaculate and the prices are competitive with any vet offices I have visited. These people truly care about your pets, and your veterinary experience.

I have been going here for 15 years. I never had a problem until recently. I took my dog in for a eye infection because he is a big pitbull they sent me into a room instantly. I leave the vet and the next morning my dog starts coughing. I wait a day or two then call and they said, have you been anywhere like a dog park I say no just your office but they said that he couldn't of gotten sick from there. I have two other dogs that landed up getting this cough. I return and behold they take me to the same room as before and tell me it's where they put they take (quarantine) sick dogs.WHAT!!!! A lady Doctor says let's take blood work, I do because I am worried about my dog at this point. She calls and said he has high liver count and need medication. My poor dog is now taking ear, eye drops, and cough medicine and now she wants to put him on another medicine. I then start questioning this newer Doctor I've been seeing. So I went for a second opinion. I go to Smiths Clinic, they tell me that there is nothing wrong with his liver and that he should not take any type of liver medication. I don't know seems a little off to me. Like I said I've never had problems like this here just with the newer female doctor.

Never take your cat here They do not know how to care for them I took my male cat here and asked that he be given fluids My cat was brought back to me in his carrier traumatized and covered in urine The vet diagnosed him with pancreatitis I took him later that night to the emergency vet. He did not have pancreatitis. He was dehydrated And was put on an IV and was better Gruda billed.me.for all kimds of tests and misdiagnosed and mishandled him Inexperienced staff in general except for a.few.

Today I took my 7 yr.old English Mastiff for a few issues.Dr.Joy was Fantastic! She's pleasant while listening as I told her my concerns of Kyssa! She's informative of what was needed to diagnose her! She took her in the back to perform a few needed tests! When she returned she showed me her xrays and her bloodwork! There's one that needed to be sent out so the results will be returned asap! I had gone to her several years ago at another place & thought highly of her then when she cared for another dog I had 13 years.I was so relieved to find her at Gruda and she definitely will be Kyssa's Dr.Now! Took my puppy in because she got a bite on her paw. We wanted to get antibiotics and looked over. The vet bandaged her too tightly and caused a wound twice as bad as the original.

I have been going here for a while everything was going fine until I took my pet pit bull for eye surgery and gum reduction. He was doing fine until this surgery that they insisted he needed which was never an issue to him. After that my dog started breathing slowly and became very weak, I took him back and they automatically diagnosed him with cancer without sending results to a lab or knowing for sure. They gave me one option only and that was to emidiantly put him down. I asked them to keep him over night so they can drain his lungs (which were filled with blood) so he could breath better and they complained to me that they would have to stay there and watch him over night and not to get to go home after a long day of work. Excuse me but that’s a little selfish if you ask me, my dog is in a very bad conduction and they are more worried about going home early, don’t do they job if you can’t handle it. It’s only with pit bulls that they seem to have an issue with I don’t recommend this clinic if you have a pitty or if your race is other than caulcasion.

ENDED UP MORE INJURED THAN WHEN WE CAME IN. We brought our puppy in for a laceration on her front paw, which would have only required antibiotics to treat her. But due to Dr. Pava poor bandaging, the bandage was too tightly wrapped and caused our puppy's dewclaw to tear a new cut into the side of her paw. When we went in for a check up, we had a different doctor (who was more experienced) tell us that the bandage was wrapped too tightly which caused the second (deeper) cut on her paw. What makes me most upset is that we paid the clinic an extra $36USD simply to bandage the paw (something I could have done myself) and that their bandaging was what caused further injury.

This review is long overdue. Dr. Gruda and his team at Gruda Vet are no less than amazing. A highly skilled surgeon, Dr. Gruda is self-possessed yet exceedingly responsive. I especially appreciate that he offers multiple treatment options with differing price points so that you can make well informed decisions. His team (Chelsea and Juan, among others) are knowledgeable, compassionate, and highly qualified. Dr. Gruda and his team always go the extra mile to do whatever they can to deliver the best possible results for your medical situation and budget. They work tirelessly to deliver the best care for your animal and to support you through it all. The fees at Gruda vet are beyond reasonable – they are generous. I’m usually astonished by the expenses since they typically amount to about half of what I have paid for similar services in the Phoenix metro area for the past 15 years with Akitas. This is especially notable since the cost of living in Santa Fe is quite high by comparison. The front desk staff is wonderful – especially Debbie. During the course of Viggo’s treatment, I’ve made many calls and left messages which are returned without fail usually by the end of the day. As a person challenged with multiple and extreme chemical sensitivities, I highly value that no harsh chemicals are used in the cleaning of the clinic which is always in immaculate condition and never omits an odor. I’m certain the patients appreciate this as well with their keen sense of smell. Whenever I’ve witnessed a dog go to the bathroom on the floor, the staff is so kind about it and insists on cleaning it up. I’ve observed the janitor smiling, petting, and chatting with animals that he’s cleaning up after. The energy of the clinic is positive and service–oriented and every experience I’ve had there has been heart-warming in spite of the fact that it’s a medical facility. Through my experience with Gruda Vet I was able to learn to trust veterinary medicine again. Dr. Gruda is able to draw upon his extensive experience to offer perspectives that would otherwise not be available. His highly skilled team listens and responds in a knowledgeable yet sensitive way. I full heartedly recommend taking your beloveds to Dr. Gruda. Viggo has been my bestie through years of suffering from chronic pain and illness and losing him as a result of a botched surgery (performed by Northside Vet) would have been a devastating loss. I am forever grateful to Dr. Gruda and his team for Viggo’s miraculous rehabilitation and giving us so much more time to enjoy one another. Dr. Gruda is an outstanding surgeon and a great guy. My heart is full of gratitude.

This is not an easy email to write. I wanted to give you all an update on Rancho's condition. I am afraid I don't have any good news. Rancho was diagnosed with bone cancer (possibly osteosarcoma) at UC Davis last week. The prognosis is not good. He has a few months (maybe a few weeks) to live. The entire saga started last June, when we saw him limping after jumping out of the car window during practice one Sunday. The limp persisted for a week, and a subsequent x-ray showed a bone lesion on his right wrist. After this we went through an extremely frustrating period when NM vets (Dr Gruda from Santa Fe in particular) repeatedly misdiagnosed Rancho's condition. I wish we had never gone to Dr Gruda. He had the time to do Rancho's biopsy (and collect the fees), but couldn't find the time to call us or get the biopsy results to us. Rancho got worse after the biopsy. His limp got very bad, and finally he stopped using his leg altogether. He never had a pain free day after that procedure. We later found that the biopsy had probably introduced bacterial infection into the bone. It took more than a month(!!) to get the biopsy results, which we finally got from our local vets at Ridgeview. The biopsy suggested an (incorrect) diagnosis - fungal infection. We started Rancho on very strong anti-fungal medication. Cost $800 for a month's dose, and nasty side effects. We visited specialist vets at Tuscan AZ, who specialize in these fungal diseases. After 3 months of treatment the Tuscan vets gave up, and asked us to go for a second biopsy. Last week we did a 2nd bone aspirate on Rancho at UC Davis, which confirmed bone cancer. I still remember when we first saw the bone lesion (last June 2015) our local vet said that at least we have caught it early. However, since that time it took us 8 months (!!) to get a correct diagnosis. Unfortunately now there are signs of cancer metastasis to the lungs. So at this late stage even chemo or amputation might be useless. Rancho is the first dog I ever had. My poor boy has been in pain for the last 9 months, and it has been unbearable to watch. I hope no one else has to go through such an experience.

Dr. Lesley Gonzales is our regular vet, and she is wonderful. She's highly skilled, talented, has a kind, sensitive manner with both the animals and with me, and has helped us with some very difficult situations with great professionalism and kindness. Occasionally we see one of the other vets, and that has always been a good experience, too. And the office staff and vet techs are also terrific. People are personable and kind, and even when they are very busy, the level of service is excellent. I have had a multiple animal household for many years, and have seen many different vets in many different states. This clinic is at the top of my list in my 25+ years of having animal companions. One other note is that they offer both conventional veterinary care, and some holistic and complimentary options: herbs, acupuncture, etc., which I really appreciate. And, having gone to many vets over the years, I appreciate the AAHA certification...I know it isn't easy to get and that it is an important credential. This clinic is great...highly recommended.
