Wow! I waited all weekend to get a hold of them because my cat got sick Friday night. I have worked in the vet field for 18 years and have been a CVT for 12 year so I knew how to take care of my pet and waited until Monday. When I called they are all booked up and I can only do a drop off appt ( drop my cat off and they can exam him when they have time). Not what I really want as it is extra stress on my cat (and he is away from me) but I know he needs some sub q fluids, bloodwork, Antibiotics and an anti-medic so I agree. Than I get put on hold again and someone come back on the phone to tell me that they don’t call me at all unless it is something big that needs done. They just treat him. So I have no say in the treatment plan and just have to trust a vet I have never seen or talked to. Or I can bring him in tomorrow. The front staff I talked to all of the were cold and showed no care what so ever. I under being book and drop off appt but call the owner. The owner should always have a say in the care of their pet.

Ridiculous – and INCORRECT – diagnosis! This vet saw me as a walk in when I was traveling through the area and that is the one – and only - good thing I can say. My dog had come up ‘lame’ on one of her front legs. I feared she had tweaked a muscle and the hours driving in the car in a crate had caused it to stiffen up. I wanted her examined and to get anti-inflammatories and pain meds. When the vet asked if she could ‘take an x-ray’ I said yes, suddenly thinking she could’ve somehow fractured a bone and we should certainly check. Then the vet called me in and gave me a diagnosis of OCD - Osteochondritis dissecans – which is a very serious condition, often hereditary, where abnormal cartilage develops which can break off from the bone and cause major issues, often only resolved via surgery. Let me say at the juncture that I was on my way to AKC Agility Nationals with my dog to compete. The vet tells me that my dog needs an MRI and a specialist but likely will need surgery. The idea of continuing to the event where she could run courses with jumps and obstacles? She shakes her head; she’s sorry, but I might as well turn the car around and head home. Obviously, I am in shock, devastated. I pay the bill – barely noticing that she has charged me for THREE x-rays (“Can I take an x-ray?”) which I did not approve/okay in any way. Once in the car, I call my friend, whose dog actually has OCD, and she tells me it is very unlikely my 8 year lab has it, especially never having shown any symptoms. Her cooler head suggests we give it 24 hours to see if there is improvement, during which time I continue driving toward the event. Well, by evening I see some improvement. More in the morning; enough to convince me it’s worth a shot to keep driving. By the time I arrive, she is better still. A friend who is a canine massage therapist (with vet tech experience) spends time working on her and feels strongly she pulled her bicep, which is still a bit in spasm. Two days more rest, the meds, and more massage and she is sound. We compete. She is amazing. In a class of some 350 dogs, she runs well enough to make it to Finals and finishes in 5th place, an awesome achievement. Gee, I guess I am glad I didn’t turn around. Gee, I sure would like that money back for the two x-rays I never approved. And yes, I called to complain about that charge and never heard back.

Traveling during a heavy wind event, my poor dog was so stressed out I was afraid for his well being. I stopped in this clinic to speak to the vet and ask for help. The staff was very understanding and kind, they fixed us right up. SO Grateful they were able to help out my pup!

The vet here graciously stayed open a bit later when we called with an emergency, then offered nothing but a jaded, smug attitude and the questionable advice of an over night stay for an already stressed out dog, without giving any reason why exactly this would help her (he didn’t offer to put her on fluids over night, or give her a bit of hydration right then because they’d have to stay open a whole 10 extra minutes for that.) I would have happily paid extra for a quick after hours treatment, but at this point it was obvious this guy was a hack dressed up in doctor play clothes, and we left in disgust.

Staff are friendly but not very helpful. Both experience on the phone and in person told me the receptionist was not trained well. But after I received services from them I found their bandaging impeccable! My dog had a wound on his leg and the bandage stayed on great! The vet was nice to me and my pets. I highly suggest a better after hours emergency contact though. When I had an emergency with my horse, they told me to go to Grants, NM!

Desk clerks are not friendly at times and put you on hold, then hang up. Over priced and I believe it's the only Veterinarian in town. But my dogs are treated with great care.

Receiving staff treated us well. Nevertheless, veterinarian never came out to talk to me just the tech. Little expensive when compared to other vets. They even charged to trim my pets nails. Pevious vet was for free as part of patient care.

For being the only vet in Gallup I would think the owners would consider an emergency contact number. The staff are not so friendly, maybe 1 or 2 girls will help. I've waited for 10 to 15 minutes before I was even acknowledged. I could have walked out with bags of dog food

Give this place one star, horrible, brought my dog in cause he got a snake bit. We where told he would be fine, and that we could pick him up the next day. We called next morning and they said that he was ok and was in pain. The vet called back an hour later and said my ollie was dead. Poor communication. Just poor everything, was greatly disappointing.

Most people bring their animals here probably because it's just about the only place in town. It has a monopoly on what it does. That being said, the staff are pleasant enough, but there aren't enough to go around. The place can get very, very busy and it's not comfortable to wait while dogs are running around barking & cats are hissing at them. The prices of services and medicines seem to be higher than what you'd expect. On the other hand, the doctors are very skilled and knowledgeable about their ability. That goes a long way. Right now it's the only place to go. I wish they had some competition.

Dr Tess found and pulled a small sticker out of my babies eye. We were back on the road in 20 minutes with my pup feeling much better! I've seen alot of vets due to my travel job, and this is one of the best experiences I've had! Thanks for taking care of my fur baby!

Very busy place! TheVet that Otto saw was very well spoken and knowledgeable. She a was also very calming and gentle. All of our questions were addressed appropriately. Two days following his appointment Otto is back to his regular self running, playing. The prices at quite high compared to what I am used to paying at our regular clinic but this could be the standard costs in this region.
