Although they were unable to help with our dog that had a laceration under her eye (due to time constraints) they still were completely resourceful, helpful, affordable, and kind to our baby girl. Dr. Gray/Grey was kind and helped us out so much. Will not hesitate to bring my animals here again. Thanks everyone over there! Also they got us in same day within 20mins.

The vets are very competent and concerned for your pet. They take time to explain everything and give you options. Reception staff and techs are cool, too. And, Dr. Holly Erickson is vegan...which is great...she doesn't eat animals which makes total sense for a vet.

Update 2019: I continue to really appreciate this clinic! My older dog seems to have a really bad environmental allergy that affects him paws. The entire team here has been so supportive. The doctors are willing to call me to discuss my dog's clinical progress and they've even phoned in prescriptions for antibiotics to my local pharmacy so I don't have to drive all the way to their clinic. I really appreciate how caring and attentive the staff and doctors are at this clinic! I drive across town just for them! Acequia came highly recommended from a family member who has been using them for years. She described vets that are NOT always pushing the invasive/expensive options. She described vets that are willing to try things like watching and waiting to see if the problem gets better. I suspect that their prices for general checkups/care might be higher than some other clinics, but this difference may be completely worth it when you consider the price of emergency vet care. My dogs are younger than two, so we haven't had too many emergencies yet! But one of them did have a very swollen paw that wasn't getting better on its own. The vet at Acequia put him on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds and recommended warm soaks. The swelling was better within a few days! I am very confident that some clinics out there would have immediately recommended sedation and drainage of the fluid collection. Not only would that have been $$$$, can you imagine taking care of a young dog after their paw has been operated on?!?! I appreciate the vets at Acequia being reasonable and level headed!!!

My husband and I have been loyal clients of Acequia Animal Hospital for almost a decade. I've trusted Acequia over the years, even though they are on the pricey side, because I felt the vets there truly cared about the well-being of my animals, and that to me is priceless. My dogs have been treated by every vet that works there and I've never had a problem with any of them. Even the staff was always friendly and helpful; up until the last two years. Around that time, the current receptionist Janice, was hired, and has single-handedly ruined the top-notch experience I used to get at Acequia. Our first concerning encounter with her was the first time we met her. When my husband picked up one of our dogs after a surgery that removed a potentially cancerous mammary gland tumor, an upsetting circumstance for us, Janice was extremely rude to him because our dog, who was most likely in extreme pain, tried biting one of the vet techs when they picked her up. She then sarcastically joked about my husband being "feisty" when I brought my dog in for the follow-up visit, which I did not appreciate. We let this inappropriate behavior slide at the time because we had been loyal clients for such a long time and the vets had been good to us and our dogs, so we figured maybe it was an isolated incident. This past week, our second encounter with Janice occurred. I brought one of our dogs in to Acequia two weeks ago for a routine visit. Our dog was fine when we brought her in, and after almost $500 later for blood work and routine vaccines, she was fine when we left. When our dog became extremely ill this week, we became worried. I called Acequia to see if they could recommend something for us over the phone, to save a trip and money since we had just been there. Janice answered the phone. I could tell she was busy because she tried to rush me off the phone once I told her I didn't want an appointment, just a recommendation from the vet. She gave me HER advice on what to do and ended the call. I let my husband know this, and being more assertive than me, he called them and spoke with a vet tech who gave different instructions than the receptionist. He was understandably upset and requested a call back from the vet as soon as possible. Instead, he received a call back from Janice 3 hours later, a messenger for the vet, stating the vet would not fulfill such a request from him and would not be returning his call. At this point, we decided we've had enough and we are done supporting them with our business. It's extremely disappointing that after a decade of loyalty, and thousands of dollars later, we were treated with such disrespect. We've advised those we know who support this establishment of our experience, and found that many have had similar experiences and vowed not to go back either. If you want the best care possible for your pets along with exceptional customer service, I strongly suggest you do not support this business either. The only reason I gave this review two stars is because I enjoyed going there for at least 7 years before they quickly went downhill.

It is with much disappointment that I'm leaving a one star review. I took my standard poodle to Acequia the end of June for what I suspected was a UTI. Sure enough, after blood work and urine sample it was confirmed. I received antibiotic medication and some anti inflamitories and was asked to bring in a urine sample a week later. UTI now had red blood and some cells that concerned the doctor. I was told it could be a bladder stone or cancer. No xrays were taken. A culture was sent out - results insignificant - by now I'm up to $400 - charged for each urine sample - a culture and no answers except it could be a stone or cancer (again). After being referred to a specialist for an ultrasound, to the tune of an additional $750 for results and exam. I called two doctors, and both asked me the same question. Did Acequia take an x-ray. No. they did not. Meanwhile a month has passed and my dog is still having difficulties. I dedcided to see Dr. Hudgell, at Petroglyph Animal Hospital, my dogs original doctor. Upon his examination and urine test, he didn't see all the red blood, Acequia was mentioning, but he did see a boat-load of white blood cells - he took an xray which showed a large bladder stone. She had surgery two days later and is now doing fine. Had the x-ray been taken on the first appointment, I'm sure I would have saved at least a few hundred dollars, and my dog would have been spared a month of pain and discomfort. I will not be going back.

I've been taking my dog here for the last four years and it's been a fantastic experience. They even have a walled in yard for the dog to hang out in while he waits for the doctor. Highly recommended.

I do not recommend taking a pet to this facility. The owner (Sharon Holland) cancelled an appointment for my dog after I told her in an e mail that I was going to get a second opinion. There are dozens of vets in the area, do not risk your pet's health by going to this clinic.

The doctors are kind and caring, as are the rest of the staff. From reception to techs, everyone is all about the animals! Procedures, surgeries, dental this place does it all and is very upfront about costs. Food and prescriptions are also available here. The waiting area is mid-sized, with an alternative outdoor area. We have a senior dog, an 85 lb puppy, and a cat. They are all well taken care of. Thank you, Dr. Gray, for being so wonderful to our furry family members.

We had our cat for 17 years. Acequia Animal Hospital is personally responsible for the last three years of her life. They made her golden years happy and comfortable and we are so thankful for that. I'd had that cat since I was in kindergarten. With their help, she saw me through college. When we told them our cat died last month, they cried along with us. I love these guys. I just adopted a one year old kitty and I'll be making her first appointment at Acequia soon! <3

2nd to none, this is the best group of Veterinarians. My dog is afraid of most strangers but feels totally relaxed around the staff. Such good honest people wanting nothing but the best for your animals.

I’ve been bringing my dogs to Acequia for years! From puppies up until their time was up. We’ve always been treated professionally and my animals have always been given great care! Over the years we’ve seen every vet and met every vet tech as one of my dogs is a frequent flier there! Their care and compassion far exceeds other places I’ve been. Although they are all great, Beth (vet tech) is one of my favorites! She treats my dogs as her own. I work in the health care field myself and I know it can be easy to become desensitized, but I’ve never felt like this with this great staff at Acequia! I would highly recommended this place!

My daughter adoped a cat & this clinic was on the list for a 10day follow up. Each member of the staff that we came in touch with was friendly & professional. The place is clean with a large waiting room. We have no reason to not return here.

Filed a complaint with the NM board of veterinary medicine. Do not take your pet to this clinic, ours was mis diagnosed and almost died. They are more interested in getting expensive tests done than caring for your pet

Called to get an appointment an hour after they opened, on Saturday January 2, 2016, for my dog that has cancer and wanted them to take a look at him to discuss options and give him something to make him more comfortable. Our regular Vet was closed, so we searched for an emergency clinic and Acequia came up. Our Springer has been sick since Thursday and no one was open. So we waited until this morning (Saturday) and called Acequia. They brushed us off, said they were completely full, clearly did not want to accommodate us or even take a look at our dog. They referred us to the Montgomery emergency clinic, which is 20 miles away. So, we have to wait until Monday when our Vet opens. I do not recommend Acequia for any services, especially when your beloved animal is sick.

I went in today with a new kitten. The doctor proceeded to tend to it without giving me quotes on prices or any idea on how much I’d be paying. I asked repeatedly during the visit and their only excuse was the doctor was new and didn’t know. After returning back from the bank to pay the remaining balance, I respectfully told them next time I would like to be told how much things would cost before they do it without my consent. I was rudely told, “well, I guess we can say this cat won’t be spoiled then.” I have the money. The point is, they weren’t respectful enough to tell me how much I was paying and it should’ve been the professional courtesy. I won’t be returning and my advice to anyone else is to make sure to ask how much things are and get quoted before letting them take in your animal.

I have had almost perfect service at this animal hospital. I've been taking my 3 kittens to Dr. Grey since July. I have never had a problem with the vet techs or my vet. they are all super friendly. Whenever I call and ask for advice and ask for the vet to call me back they always respond quickly. They accept my boyfriend taking my kittens in and they always call me to tell me how the appointment went if I wasn't able to be there due to work constraints. My only complaint is one of the receptionists. I won't mention any names but this particular receptionist has terrible customer service/phone skills. When I first brought Keiko in, she acted like she didn't know how to step up his chart. She needs to learn some respect and remember that we are pet parents. these are our babies and if there's something wrong with our fur babies then were going to be worried and scared. Sometimes its not just the pets that need condolence.

I have been a loyal customer of this vet for 10 years. They are expensive but had good service (originally). I used to get after-care calls directly from the vet. Over the past two years they have employed people that could care less about me or my two dogs whose care I have entrusted with them. My final recent visit I paid over 500 dollars for vaccines and blood work. Shortly after bringing my dog home, she became very ill. My wife called to talk to the Vet, Holly. Instead she was rudely instructed by a receptionist named Janice to try collecting a urine sample. I found it unacceptable that we could not talk directly to our vet. I called back and talked to a vet tech who gave me different instructions. I sternly told the tech I wanted to talk directly with Holly and asked for a call back. I was told the doctor would call me back shortly. Three hours later, Janice the receptionist called me back to tell me the doctor would not talk to me over the phone and hung up on me. Ten years and more than likely 10,000 plus dollars were spent with them. I referred countless friends and family to this vet. I feel terrible for my dog and for the people I sent their way. They made my dog sick and they could care less. Please avoid them; they are expensive and have terrible customer service, and when they make a mistake they will ignore you so they can be rid of you. Shame on this vet clinic. Because of neglect, I now have to pay far more money to help my dog at a different vet.
