Took my pup there to get her updated on her vaccines and the ladies there are nothing but kind and informative, letting me in on precautions towards the flea and tick seasons and how heartworm was on the rise here in Albq. They gave my pup what she needed and then some, even with taked on meds to prevent heartworm/flea+ticks it was very affordable. Definetly coming back again and keeping as a regular vet for my girl!

This place was amazing at first, I really loved the staff. Then we took my dog to the back and it was good at first. Then they come with an estimate for the treatment and it’s about 1000+.. which is extremely high to just drop the day I go there. So obviously I refuse so I can shop around and they give me the worst tome about it. Honestly it was very very rude the way they were acting, i know my dog well enough to know I wouldn’t put him in any danger and they made me feel so awful about taking him home. But I did and I went to another vet to find out that you guys here were completely wrong about what he had. Making me feel like you were trying to get money out of me, very unfortunate. Misdiagnosing my dog for a profit was why I gave you guys a 1 star. Like I said the first impression was nice but I wouldn’t bring your pet here unless you’re looking to spend lots of money for no reason. Try VCA or Rio bravo.

Recently, we had to put our elderly Pomeranian down. The entire staff and doctors at ABQ Pet Care were extremely knowledgeable, sincere and uncommonly caring. Wanted me to do a $600 procedure, advocating for a $4,000 surgery. I decided to get another opinion and I'm glad I did. The procedure would have been pointless and should be easily solved with some antibiotics. I went with ABQ pet care because they were open on the weekend. I should have just waited for my normal vet to be open, would have saved the $65 exam fee. On a plus note, I found the front desk employee to be very nice, everyone else was rather rude. At one point I was told "That vet is dead" when talking about what I had paid for the same procedure in the past. Very rude and unprofessional with that comment. I do not get the impression they care about the animals just the money.Will not go back!

This place took 9 hours to look at my kitten and I brought him in at 8am. Really? Then they said he had a broken toe when originally it was an abscess and basically said well...we are gonna put a bandage on it and hope for the best. Not coming here again.

The doctors are really nice but their secretaries are horrible and rude. I tried calling four times last week to try to make an appointment and three times they didn't pick up and the fourth time they picked up and hung up immediately. I then tried to use their online appointment program and accidentally scheduled the wrong day but they had a reschedule appointment button so I used that and thought it wouldn't be a big deal. The day of the original appointment came around and they called me asking where I was and when I said I had already rescheduled and their program must not work and then the lady hung up on me. I will not be making the other appointment nor will I return.

Very kind staff but I can't help but mention there pricing is pretty high and they seem to encourage the patient to spend more money. They seem quick to offer the highest priced procedures instead of some simpler solutions. After getting second opinions and reviewing my receipts, I have over-paid for most appointments in comparison to other clinics.

Thanks for your kindness and compassion with my Basset, Bigley. I am a new client and I appreciate the care and concern Dr. Ortiz and the techs gave him for his initial visit. Once my poor guy couldn't walk anymore, we returned, and everyone showed the same kindness to me and my husband when he went to heaven later that day. If i could rate this less than one star, i would. I cannot believe. you would think every single life no matter how small they are, matters here, but no. over the past week, my guinea pig has become very very sick, NEITHER of the medications they’ve given us have been working. now i have 2 guinea pigs, one of them previously got very sick and they gave us medicine that worked for him very quickly. they didn’t prescribe the same medication first of all, and then the second one they gave us STILL wasn’t the same. When i tried to contact them i was told i would be contacted by the vet later on, i NEVER got a call back until i had to call, which is where i was told she did contact me but on a number they know is not the primary. My guinea pig is truly very sick and is truly dying and i am beyond upset they didn’t treat it as an emergency, or even as a priority, he’s getting worse and worse every day. I will NEVER be returning here, ever again. IF you have a guinea pig and truly want the best care for him please find help elsewhere!! or, if you do decide to come here, PLEASE do NOT go with Dr. Young, she has no clue what she’s doing with guinea pigs, maybe with dogs and cats but NOT with guinea pigs! This is nothing but the truth from the bottom of my heart. Every life matters!

I very rarely feel compelled to write a review for anything, but ABQ Pet Care is so amazing I feel like I need to tell everyone. Up until finding ABQ Pet Care, my experiences with other vets in Albuquerque had been terrible. In fact, VCA had botched my dog's cast (it fell off 20 minutes after leaving). This was the first time I saw Dr. Tim - he gave my dog a proper cast for his broken leg. Since then they have taken excellent care of both mine and my fathers dogs. Every time I go in there they are professional. loving, and compassionate. It is very obvious to me that EVERYONE at ABQ Pet Care truly cares about the animals. As a dog groomer I recommend all my clients to see Dr. Tim! Although not the cheapest (but also not the most expensive) I find that the type of care my dogs receive is well worth the extra bit of money. Thank you so much ABQ Pet Care, you guys are amazing!

The staff was very nice and treated my little dog so well giving her little treats that she loved. Dr. Ortiz explained what needed to be done for my dog's dental care and I felt very comfortable there. And their pricing is MUCH better than other places I contacted. That was my first time with them and I'm glad I checked them out. I just took my male dog for a dental cleaning yesterday. He's 14 years old and ended up needing 4 teeth pulled. He came out just fine. He's doing well today. The staff is very nice and did a wonderful job with him. I was very worried because of his age with him going under anesthesia, but he did just fine. So both my male and female have had cleanings and teeth pulled and have come out just fine. I definitely recommend this place.

Very poor vet. My cat has been getting nail trims for 10 years and has never had an issue. Today we were sent away because they were too afraid to clip her nails due to a little attitude she was giving.. she's a cat, they are bratty. However I was able to take her home an somehow do it myself. If anything, they showed me I can trim her nails on my own. Also they advertise a 4 dollar nail trim on Tuesdays, but they don't tell you that if more than one person has to help, the price goes up to 21 dollars! Needless to say I will not be back and recommend you try somewhere else that is more experienced.

Took my hedgehog in for having blood in his urine. He was seen fairly quickly, Dr young and her assistant were very friendly and paitent. The pricing for the visit and my hedgehogs medication were super affordable. All around great experience, will deffinalty be making this my primary vet office.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! I wouldn't have given a star, had that been a choice. The negligence and greed of this clinic lead to an incredibly painful death for my pet. Like a human doctor, a vet should first do no harm. ABQ Petcare seems to follow the dictum, first make as much cash as you can. They tell the patient what they think they want to hear, rather than give an honest assessment of the available treatment options. They want to get as many people in the door as possible, rather than offer quality service to those with appointments. I believe that my pet would still be alive had I not trusted the staff at this clinic. ABQ Petcare provided one of the most awful experiences of my life.

When i went there was smell from bunch of wild animals. My dog was extremely scared and nervous. They didn't asked about prior medicine or check any records. They checked her ears but when they brought her back she was bleeding from tonge, apparently she bite herself. Also they told me she has a fleas. And any of my dogs had never fleas. They wanted to put her on a pills. I checked at home none of my dogs has any fleas. I suspect that in the clinic there is dirty and they may have fleas.

The Vet was amazing as we had never seen them before and she had to put our 15 yr old dog down. They were so nice and gave us time to decide what the right thing was to do. After that we received a hand signed card from their office with each staff member writing us a nice note about our loss. Inside the card was one of the sweetest things as a surprise. They took a footprint of his paw placed it on a colorful card and sent it along with the beautiful card. What a compassionate staff and Dr. I would highly recommend them .

Been using this hospital/clinic for the past five years. Know what you are asking for (and how much) BEFORE you let them touch your pet. I went in for a vaccine for my cat... and the vet came in, handled the kitten, stuck the needle in, and we left. Found myself with a $25 "exam fee" on top of the vaccine price. If you don't want to get gouged through ignorance, ask what services they are performing... and say "no" if you don't want them. I only have a small pile of gold for my pet's healthcare... don't let them prey on your ignorance.

I received a call directly from the doctor who explained exactly what was wrong with my dog. She also was willing to work with me as far as cost. I really love the staff at this veterinary practice. I've only dealt with them twice, as I'm not in Albuquerque that often. The first time was when I needed to put down an elderly dog. I scheduled an appointment with another hospital that we had more of a history with, then canceled it because I didn't think I could lose her, then realized it needed to happen and tried to reschedule it but they were a smaller practice and couldn't accommodate me. ABQ Petcare Hospital gave me a range of appointment options and the staff was remarkably supportive and kind. They really go above and beyond to create a kind and peaceful environment. I'm writing this review today because I'm just in Albuquerque briefly as I'm moving, and one of my dogs developed what is probably a UTI. I didn't even notice and call until midday, and they were able to offer me a couple of same-day appointments in the late evening. The staff was all really kind and helpful. They're very transparent about procedures and pricing. They do tend to go all out on treatment and tests (which isn't a bad thing), but when I said that I couldn't afford everything they wanted to do, they were really happy to revise it and work with me. I never felt judged or ripped off. They discussed the pros and cons of every procedure and were able to isolate the most essential ones. The veterinarian went into a lot of detail about his concerns and the reasons behind his thinking, and was really open to questions. They also gave a courtesy follow-up call just to make sure my dog was doing okay with the medication. This is also a small thing, but my dog required some medication that needs to be given as half a pill ever 12 hours, and they gave me the pills pre-cut. I don't know if that's routine for them or not, but it hasn't been at most vets I've been to, and I really appreciated it since almost everything I own is packed up so I'd have to go buy a knife or try to saw through with plastic cutlery. It's just a really thoughtful practice. They're not the cheapest, but their prices are fairly middle-of-the-road, and the personal attention they give is exceptional. I really got the feeling that they cared about my dogs.

This is the worst place in Albuquerque to take your pets. Seems they advocate more for money then they do pets. Took my dog in for dental surgery on a monday. She had xrays and was prescribed medications the week before her surgery. By Thursday after her surgery she was experiencing dry heeving and increased respirations. I took her in and was given a $500 estimate to treat her. I advised the vet she had just had xrays and she advised I was wrong. I told her she needed to double check her records and she did. After admitting she was wrong she advised that my dog needed a second set of xrays because her condition could have changed in a week. The vet did not even check my dogs record before seeing her. If she would have she would have known about the previous xrays and medications that were prescribed a week earlier. Will never take my pets here again.

I love ABQ Pet Care! I have three dogs that have been going there for care since the day they opened and two of them have had their lives saved by the vets. Turnover of vets shouldn't be attributed to something negative...each one who has left has gone on to happier adventures (motherhood etc). I applaud the front desk people who have to deal with never ending phone calls and often quite rude customers...I have spent a lot of time there and have witnessed some of the interactions and the personnel have always been kind. I would and have recommended this business to numerous family members and friends who are equally pleased with the care given. Vets are like doctors - they are not Gods...but they do truly love and care about your fur kids....

They took care of momma and explained everything, however once momma passed, they had us on the run around for our belongings. We made it clear we wanted the blanket back as well as the pet taxi. No one took responsibility resulting in the loss of the only valuables we had. Even more upsetting, we had to call even after being promised we would. Customer service went from great to poor.

Hard to describe but skip this place. $225 for 2 X-rays. Needless testing and if you have pet insurance it is supposed to be cheaper. Don't believe it! $1000 for visit when 1 year old dog vomiting. Wouldn't give me the x-ray I paid for!! Second opinion was $125 and not the same diagnosis. Dog is great now! This place is a rip off joint!!

I've known Dr. Ortiz for many years and was fortunate to have her available to take in my Basset Hound, Roosevelt. He had his teeth cleaned for the first time so there was a couple of extractions he needed. Happy there was no complications and he was well taken care of! Pricing is better compared to the other Vet I was established at first with my other basset hound (locked in a membership) but I would definitely recommend this place and Dr. Ortiz! Roosevelt now has pearly whites!

I would only take my kitty there if I am unable to make it to Vetco. The prices are expensive though I heard the teeth brushing and nail trimming are reasonable, ten dollars for each of them, so about twenty bucks together.

I don't understand why pet health care is so expensive but I don't get why human health care is about ten times more in every case so I might just be biased that way. It's really nice to have little reminders about my pets shots, cards around Christmas time, and a place that does both in house as well as out of house reading on all x-rays or the like. Every pet they've taken care of has done wonderfully, their doctors are kind and concerned, and they treat you as an individual.

I Had to find a vet in a flash on Monday to treat my pet rat during an emergency . *** I do NOT recommend waiting till your pet gets sick to find a vet, SO if you happen to have a pet rat or exotic animal take them to ABQ PET CARE!!*** I called in the morning with my concerns and the front desk Alexa was able to get us in the same day within a couple hours for a scheduled appointment. They let me know if my rats condition worsened to just call and they could get me in sooner. We arrived for our appointment and filled out some paperwork and then they took us back within a few minutes. The tech examined our rat and then the dr came in after to determine what the next steps were. We needed some X-rays. They made sure to come in to let us know exactly how much it was going to cost...NO SURPRISE END BILL. Prices are affordable especially for emergency vet and thankful for that!. (I Recommend A pet vet fund for all people whom own any animals) Once test were ran the DR came back to let us know what she found and then recommend the best treatment for the conditions the rat had. Then we were given instructions, medication and another appointment this week. My rat is not fully healed however during this emergency and traumatic experience ABQ PET CARE was very compassionate and professional with us so far. Will update with future appointments....

Decided to find a vet to neuter and perform gastroplasty on my great dane of 6 1/2 months. After lots of running around to different facilities and research online I decided on this place because of price and their prompt response to questions which were many. Went in for a free consultation and estimate for services. Well after taking Blu in for his work I couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience from start to end. Met a new staff member each time I went in and they are all awesome. Costs were as given in estimate and the care my Blu received was phenomenal. Will start taking all my animals here in the future.
