REVIEWS OF Raritan Animal Hospital IN New Jersey

Wil Torres

This place is great. Everyone is so friendly and so informative. we had a really tough decision to make and they were amazing. They made sure we fully understood our options and how that would affect our family. They were patient and allowed us as much time as we needed. The fees for everything were reasonable and comparable to most places but the genuine compassion and care for us was special and not like any place we’ve ever been.

kdnewbruns

Very professional, very clean.

I am so disgusted! My dog is in utter pain and they WOULD NOT see her!!!! Tiffany was rude and unhelpful! When I said, "you don't have emergency appointments?? What if she was hit by a car? U would send me away??" Her response was, "honestly, we'd patch her and send her to another clinic". This is how you treat a client who has been with you for decades?? Thank god for Plainfield Animal Hospital! They are picking up the slack for this organization's shortcomings!

Great staff

Dr. Ruiz is awesome!! We moved to the area recently, so we had no established vet, and our cat has been dealing with a couple of issues, each of which makes the other difficult to treat. We came to Raritan after a not-great experience at another vet. Dr. Ruiz was excellent with our cat and has been nothing but patient and kind through this whole ordeal. I highly recommend this clinic.

Billy Hansen

Very kind and polite staff. Very caring towards my little girl Princess

Ryan O'Connor

Excellent veterinary care

Max Mintz

Great experience, and they have a fantastic reminder system.

I have been going to this vet for nearly 15 years, and recommend them without hesitation. The doctors are fabulous and treat us (pets & humans!) like family. It is a large enough practice that if you have an emergency they can always get you in immediately, or you can schedule an appointment with your favorite vet. In the past I had a very ill cat, and the doctors worked collectively to determine the nature of her illness. When my new puppy was diagnosed with demodex mange they helped us through the treatment process and have always been incredibly caring and gentle. Their offices are easy to access (right on Route 27), and they offer convenient hours including evening and Saturday appointments. Most important, whenever I have had an ill pet they have been very understanding and respectful of our family decisions about the animal's care, providing us with all the options available with pros and cons, and then letting us make the best decision possible. They have a great deal of equipment and services available on-site, but can also access support and additional services through specialty clinics if necessary. If you are looking for top notch veterinary care from caring staff, then this is the place for you!

My dog had an infection . They told us it was cancer and could be removed at a cost of $3000. Or they could just put him down. Brought him to a specialist in PA looked at him drew blood gave him an antibiotic and in a week he was gack to normal and lived another 8 years.

Michael Andreula

Excellent pet caregivers and amazing staff that animals love and love animals.

Mike Perno

Beautiful employees, beautiful service. Nothing bad to say hands down.

Royanna Commisso

Always a good experience. Staff is very friendly & knowledgeable.

Each time I've visited Raritan Animal Hospital with Flynn, we were seen by a different doctor and each one was as familiar with her as though they were the only one. Very caring and knowledgeable.

Margo Pisack

We had 2 occasions to visit Raritan Animal Hospital with our elderly dog within a 2 month period. Both visits were somewhat urgent and took place on weekends. We were able to get an appt on the same day, and our dog was treated promptly and with sensitivity to his needs as an older dog. I felt that the cost of her care was reasonable and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Grace Lanaris

Excellent care. Love the doctors and the technicians.

John Bonanno

Only place I would trust with my baby

Emily Kaufman

I recently moved to this area, and my friend recommended this animal hospital to me. My cat had an eye infection. He could barely open his eye and needed to see a vet. Raritan Animal Hospital was able to see us right away. The vet and staff were very friendly and provided us with exceptional care. My cat was all better within a week. We will be returning!

Joyce Ramos

Dr. Mills and Dr. Spotnick are amazing! Great and friendly staff. Special shout out to Margaret!

Erika Davidoff

Vets are very gentle and careful with the animals and great at answering all questions.

Jeanne Martin

Great hospital. Friendly people. Very helpful. So glad they're there!

Lindsay Faraher

Great and friendly service; staff are very knowledgeable, and did their best to make my dog feel safe while she was being checked over. Prices were noy exorbitant, which is a plus in my book. I highly recommend this vet if you're in the area.

We've been taking our various "kids" (cats and dogs) to this clinic for the past 15 years or more and I really love their staff and services. Maybe because we've been going there so long, the front desk usually recognize us as soon as we're through the door. Last time, I called and just mentioned my first name and they instantly recognized me. The wait time is sometimes a little longer than I'd like, but given how many patients they have, it's totally understandable. Their vet techs are always very friendly and sweet to our kids. You can tell they really love animals and that's obviously a plus at a veterinary hospital. Some doctors I like better than others and I only found out recently that you can request to schedule with a doctor of your choice. I've been trying to do that more frequently but since we only have time after work, it's not always possible. Still, it's no biggie since even the doctors that aren't my favorites are still very nice and patient. That said, the reason for the four instead of five stars is that they do push some optional vaccines and services that aren't really needed in some circumstances. So you do need to do some of your own research and homework so you know what to ask and what things are optional. But I do think pet owners should be educated themselves on their pets' needs instead of depending solely on doctors. They also very often suggest running tests, even on older animals that are realistically towards the end of life. Having tests done to confirm that they have tumors that you wouldn't consider operating on due to age really doesn't help anything except to line their pockets. The doctors generally agree with me when I bring up quality of life over all these tests - so, again, it's important to do some homework on your own.

mark jelley

Great vet. Trust them with all my pups and cats.

Good service

Raritan Animal and the staff is the best anywhere! They love our pets as much as we do! My Chihuahua Metu would like to comment: "I love everyone at my hospital! My special doctors are Dr. Spodnick and Dr. Laffoon. I had cancer when I was 4. Now I'm 10 and they made sure I got better. I am not always cooperative, but they love me anyway!" XOXO

Lyndsay McGuire

I cannot say enough good things about this veterinary practice. The staff, assistants and vets are all kind, attentive and knowledgeable. The office itself is very clean and welcoming, and appointments are always taken almost exactly on time, which I appreciate a lot. We used to visit another local vet after taking in our stray kitty, and it was a bad experience every time, for us and the cat. We switched to Raritan Animal Hospital about 2 years ago and are never looking back. After the first visit, our cat even got back in his carrier like he wanted to head back to see his new friends! Shortly after, we received a "welcome" card in the mail, and we get cards for the holidays and our cat's birthday annually. Our little guy has a history with urinary problems, and the doctors here have been fantastic about maintaining and monitoring the condition. It's a wonderful place - I always tell people I wish I could find a doctor for myself as good as my cat's vets!

Kristin Hughes

Horrible experience. I arrived with my dog in an emergency situation. I walked in the door. Signed in. The receptionist waited for me to fill out all my information. She then asked me if I had an appointment. I said yes. She then told me I had to leave and go elsewhere because there was no one available to treat my dog! Total waste of time! Thank God this was not a life or death situation! Thank you for the response. Maybe you should ask your employee that was at the front desk with the short dark hair what she did with the paperwork she had me fill out before she turned me away while my dog was throwing up blood! I went to Woodbridge Animal Hospital (with no appointment) they took me in right away and treated my baby!

Francesca Giannetti

These people are great! A friend and fellow cat owner recommended them to me. They are infinitely patient with my formerly stray, still rather feral, cat Albin. Their veterinarians are extremely knowledgeable and explain all the options in careful detail. I'd highly recommend them.

Maike Fillmer

My dog lovers coming here for her vet visits. Everyone takes such good care of her here!

David Cavuto

The care they gave to our two kittens, Jack and Rose, was exceptional. You could see that every member of the staff loves animals, from the docs, to the techs, to the receptionists. It was clear to me that even after their two day stay, the staff was honestly sad to see my kitties leave. I was touched by the personal attention they gave, and it made me felt so good to have our little fuzzy friends in the hands of others who genuinely cared. And in the end, isn't that what you want for your pets, if they have to be away from your family? Thank you, Raritan Animal Hospital!

Guy Mastroianni

Professional and timely. My indoor/outdoor cat has the uncanny knack of getting injured late in the day or on the weekends; which of course severely limits my options regarding urgent care. Twice in the past two months, Raritan has been there for me and Stitch, my four legged friend; diagnosing the nature of his wounds and prescribing the right meds and courses of treatment for recovery. I may be down $600, but Stitch gets to live another day!

M mary

The entire staff at Raritan Animal Hospital - from the front desk right up to the surgeons - are the kindest, most compassionate and knowledgeable veterinarian staff I have ever known (and I have known a few). Edison is not next door to us - as a matter of fact, there are 2 veterinarians closer to us, but we choose to go to Raritan because they are so great.

Matthew Kaplan

This a very well run veterinary practice. It is impressively clean and organized. All of the staff are lovely people who really care. Highly recommend.

Ann Eskow

Very caring staff

Marijah Sroczynski

The staff are friendly and helpful. The docs are knowledgeable and great with critters.

Megan Mayo

We're from out of town and were visiting family when our dog began having some issues. Went to Raritan Animal Hospital at the recommendation of our family's neighbor. Called and they were kind enough to fit us in that morning. Wonderful staff, took great care of our dog. He's feeling much better now. And, to top it off, the visit and medication was very reasonably priced.

Nicole Scholz

I have been bringing my kitten Lulu here since she was a few weeks old. The staff and doctor's here are great. I never feel like I am being rushed. When I go there I can see that they genuinely care for the animals that they have as patients.

Molly Graham

This was such a great vet experience for us and our dog Monkey. The staff was so friendly and warm. Monkey was seen right away and Dr. King was amazing. So happy I found Raritan Animal Hospital.

Ryan Anderson

Entire staff is A+! Everyone is incredibly helpful and give great tips and suggestions.

Sheera Stern

I have used Raritan Animal Hospital for twenty-odd years and have been extremely satisfied with their professionalism, knowledge, and compassion. They are meticulous about caring for animals and communicating with owners. I've learned a great deal from the doctors in the practice. They know when to refer animals for specialized care not offered at Raritan. (Special kudos to Dr. Traurig.) I have always found the front office staff to be professional, patient, and friendly. I had an overwhelmingly enthusiastic lab mix who just loved going there, and they were extremely helpful in settling him; everyone took pains to greet him. Like some other posters, I wish I had medical care as good as my dog's. A number of negative reviews of the practice have been posted. The posters seem to expect trained doctors to do what the owners want them to do, not what standard practice and science dictate. Other posters seem to expect charity care. These comments are not credible. Complaints about long wait times are also not credible. Sometimes emergencies come in. The vets will drop everything to try to save the life of an animal that was hit by a car or suffered another calamity. Expect this at any medical practice.

Amy Purcelly

Staff is so friendly and caring towards the pets and their owners.

Amy Denholtz

The staff at Raritan Animal Hospital is so friendly. Our dog was expectedly nervous, but the staff greeted her and made her feel comfortable during her check up. When we brought her in due to an ear infection, they showed us how to properly clean her ears and give her ear drops. They were able to gently demonstrate this and she earned a treat - peanut butter, her favorite! Thank you for taking care of our dog as we would!

Leneisha Douglas

Wonderful!!place love them they took the best care of my dog deisel

Donna Rosinski-Kauz

I have a rabbit with a delicate stomach and a feisty disposition. They are very careful and caring with him even though he is not an easy patient!

Casper Everhard Jr.

Fast service and remedies.

William Gibbons

While visiting my parents in Edison, my newly adopted rescue dog was running around and slipped on the deck cutting his leg. Raritan Animal Hospital was able to promptly see, and take care of him. While we still have some work to do on my dog's aggression, Raritan Animal Hospital staff remained calm and kind and very professional throughout the process. I highly recommend Raritan Animal Hospital if you need such services in the area.

Kristie Razz

Amazing vet! They're super willing to work with both you and your pet to make sure everyone's needs are met. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great veterinary care experience, especially if you have a cat that REALLY dislikes the vet

Benjamin Vishnevetski

My experience with Raritan Animal Hospital was great! I brought my hedgehog in while she was sick and acting strangely. She was observed by Dr. Spodnick, who was very kind, gentle, and knowledgeable. She took her time to tell me everything I need to know to make my hedgehog feel better. She printed out two packets and reviewed them with me all about hedgehogs and their health. She also prescribed an extremely effective medicine that had my hedgehog feeling better in 3 days. The service was great and all who work there are very kind and inviting. The atmosphere is very nice. I had an amazing experience with a new animal hospital and I trust them completely. Thank you Raritan Animal Hospital!

I brought my 11-year-old dog to the clinic for a dental cleaning. She usually goes to Piscataway Animal Clinic, but they do not perform that procedure there. I was told to bring my dog in between 8-9 am. No food or drink after 8 pm the night before. I followed these guidelines. Zoe is prone to seizures and takes medication every 8 hours to control them, and I administered her Keppra about 6:30 the morning of the procedure. I brought Zoe in at 8:30 and asked how many other dental procedures were being performed, and the answer was only one. I paid the $500.00 deposit using my credit card. I assumed she would get the procedure soon after being brought in. I left, and on the way home the office called and told me to bring her meds later that day. I still assumed she would get the procedure and the meds would be administered afterward. Raritan Animal Clinic called me about 1:00, as I was driving there, and told me the procedure could not be done because Zoe had suffered a seizure. I realized she had been crated for 5 hours without food or water. I did not know the temperature of the room she was in. I wondered if stress, lack of water or temperature of the room may have prompted the seizure. I was furious! I said I was on my way and hung up the phone. When I arrived, frankly I was not pleasant. I loudly demanded my dog, and the folks behind the counter replied, “calm down.” I was yelling, “just give me the dog!” I could not imagine what shape she was in, and just wanted to bring her home. I must be honest, I was upset and just wanted to see my little dog. I was loud and obnoxious. The staff members kept saying, “calm down” but, they were not producing my dog. Dr. Stern came out and tried to explain why Zoe was kept in a cage all that time, saying there was an emergency. I wondered if she was the only medical professional there to handle it. I told her how wrong it is to keep an animal in a cage for that long without food, water and under stress. Someone could have called me and set up another appointment. By this time, Zoe had been without food or water since before 8:00 the night before. I wondered if that did not contribute to her seizure. I got my dog and told Dr. Stern how disappointed I was in her personally as a professional. I felt she was indifferent to the overall well being of my dog and that’s not acceptable in a vet. The next day I checked my credit card account and noticed the charge of $500. 00 was still there. I called Raritan Animal Clinic and asked that it be refunded as there was no procedure performed. I was polite as was the person I spoke with. She took my information and said the money would be refunded to my account. Folks who had their dogs’ dental treatment in the past (at other facilities) have told me the procedure wasn’t that long and in fact, waited for their pets in the office. I understand it is a question of severity, some procedures take longer than others and recovery time varies. Since Raritan Animal Clinic had Zoe’s health records and was aware of her medical history It never occurred to me that my dog would have to wait so long for a dental procedure. To be honest, I have used Raritan Animal Hospital on occasion, only as a last resort. I always got the sense that it is a place of business first and foremost, and it reeks of apathy.

Matthew Appleyard

Members of my household have included a variety of pets into our family and although we have not had the occasion to bring in some of the more exotic ones for care at Raritan Animal Hospital, all our dogs and cat have been there. Whether for emergency procedures or annual check-ups the crew at this facility has always treated my family and our furry friends with the utmost courtesy while providing comprehensive diagnoses with multiple possible plans of action. Though the doctors and assistants have changed over the years the consistency of care has never wavered which makes me feel like they are doing something right. Their more advanced procedures are affordable, administered with care, and followed up by the doctors themselves who demonstrate a clear concern for their patients. I have always been amazed at how our most unruly of pets have settled down on our trips. Not sure how else to say it, this place is great!

Lateefa Hayes

Very friendly staff!

tenzel lennon

They are the best animal hospital I've ever been to. The hospitality was above and beyond and more than anything they saved my dogs life with an emergency surgery. As far as I'm concerned I would never go to any other vet. THANK YOU RARITAN ANIMAL HOSPITAL!

Refuse Service

not trying to negate any of the positive reviews, but i did not care for this place at all. most of the veterinarians - with some notable exceptions - are cool people and provide good care, but the business end of this place really sucks. like, really bad. it seemed like every other visit i had to correct one thing or another in the record or the prescription. vets would ask me to call to give them updates and when i did they didn't get the message, even when they put all caps notes in the chart stating that they are expecting a followup call. on the financial end, i knew i was probably being milked for some extra fees, office visits and tests, but it was only after going elsewhere that i found out by how much. my pet's condition turned out to be way more common and manageable than i was led to believe by raritan. turns out, i only have to bring him in 1 - 2 times a year. my last visit at the place deteriorated into an argument over a quoted fee for one of the services performed that day. i told them i'd only pay what i was quoted for that one thing and they tried to confiscate the prescription medicine, which i wasn't even disputing. after telling them i wouldn't be coming back i got a "you can't fire me i quit" letter, along with my pet's medical record which was comical in how many mistakes it contained, as well as what the office staff really thought of me personally. like, not just that one visit but past ones as well, presumably because i had noticed the mistakes and asked them to update the record for next time. i thought the record was supposed to be clinical but when i got mine i saw the notes were way more personal in nature, describing the conversation with the owner which, by the way, weren't accurate either. now i'm still getting spam from them, including messages asking me to write a review. that's how on the ball they are. they apparently changed my name in their database to "REFUSE SERVICE" and the messages go "Dear REFUSE SERVICE, Raritan Animal Hospital needs your help!!"

Samantha Hunter

They are affiliated with Piscataway animal hospital. They didn't have vets so they sent me here. Super friendly office staff!! everyone in the office is knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend

Mary Hopke

Very professional and caring vets and staff. Not afraid to recommend specialist at another facility if needed.

Robert Koch

Great animal care

Kelly Kato

I like the doctors because they seem knowledgeable and trustworthy.

John Bates

I was really grateful for their kindness and professionalism. I live in LA and I think it's always a bit scary taking my dog somewhere I don't know. We just went in for a vaccination, but it had to be done and documented properly for travel and they were very cooperative and made sure to do it well.

Heidi

They take the best care of all my pets.

Muneca Valerio

Austin Feng

Great environment, efficient process of medication pick up, professional diagnosis and consulting of symptoms for my dog, nice and warm treatment for my dog - this is very important for her because she's always nervous with strangers. I've been with Rartian for over four years and I like it. Will definitely come back.

Michelle Yeung

Wonderful animal hospital. Their veterinarians, technicians, and staff are all loving and well-trained.

John Kenyon

Wonderful caregivers. Our animals (dogs, cats & hamsters) have been patients for more than 25 years. We would highly recomend them..

Courtney

Total ripoff. Brought my kitten with an inflamed paw and was charged $533 for xrays. There was zero compassion from the vet - I felt like I was talking to a robot. Zero followup call to see if he was okay (I don't expect that but other vets I went to have done so in the past) and the lady infront of me even walked out because she was also being ripped off for a $500 bill of xrays. It's all about making money at this place. Will never go back.

B Crittenden Freeman

Very good Caring accurrate

Glenn Small

Very accommodating. Squeezed my dog in before a northeaster. Very happy with the care provided.

ROBIN STRATTON

I have been using Raritan Animal hospital for over 20 yrs with 11 different dogs. The vets go above and beyond the call of duty, very knowledgeable and caring, and the office staff is the best. My dogs love going to the vet and if there happy, I'm happy. I wouldn't go any where else

Timothy Mason

We have been using Raritan Animal Hospital from the time we first got Casper as a puppy. Casper is 11 years old The professional and support staff are kind and caring. From the time we walk in the door " hello Casper" until the time we leave, the experience superb. I would recommend RAH to anyone without hesitation. If you really love your dog or cat Raritan Animal Hospital is the place to go for excellent and kind care for your pet.

Felipe Cabrera

We have been bringing Andy to Raritan Animal Hospital for the last eight years, since he was a puppy and will continue to do so. The staff and medical care is excellent and the facility is very clean.

Marie Witiuk

Great people. They genuinely care about each pet.

John Dias John Dias

Brought my nephew Dax there today. The staff was so great with him and also explaining in details the best care for him!. Highly recommend this place. All were so sweet!

Mark Deavult

Performed a spay on an adopted cat for us, the staff was friendly, the doctors engaged, and incredibly attentive. We really appreciated a follow-up call after we took her home to see how she was doing, that’s not something you see often. We currently use a different vet that’s more convenient to where we live, but wouldn’t hesitate to bring our pets here if we lived closer.

Don Tarr

Raritan Animal Hospitaal is a wonderful facility with the most caring staff of any veterinary facility I have gone to in over 50 years as a prime pet caregiver.

DIANNE DENICOLA

Been taking my dog Shannon to Raritan Animal Hospital for over 6 years since she was a puppy. Very caring staff. Will continue to bring my Pup there. Shannon loves it too! She gets so much attention!

Mary Jo Sitek

Appt. time was kept, place is clean and my JESSICA (14 year old dog) was comfortable, not running for the door.

Angelo Vicari

A fantastic team there. They have a vey gentle and caring team that handle the ups and downs of pet ownership with ease. Either in preventative care or the unfortunate time when its time for you pet to leave, their kindness and caring is welcomed. We had the sad day to let our Doberman, Primo, pass on. We have been through this experience before with other pets, and the professionalism, gentleness and personal care they displayed was second to none. It made a sad day a little bit less painful and we sincerely appreciate it.

irene szaloczi

We have used RAH for a multitude of cats and have always had excellant service. The staff is kind, caring and compassionate. The Doctors are very knowledgable and compassionate. They sre the number one in this area.

Alessio Lerro

We left Highland Park 2 years ago and we still have not found a single Animal Hospital comparable to Raritan Animal Hospital. We have always received the best treatment here and the doctors, assistants, and all the staff are just amazing. Our little dog loved them too!

Rev. David Holder

Nyla loves the staff and they are so welcoming!!

Barry Qualls

I began going to Raritan Animal Hospital in 1990; and I will go nowhere else. The staff is unfailingly courteous and considerate. The doctors are the best in New Jersey--really, equal to the best in the country. They have saved one pet cat's life; and provided care to three different cats over the years that ensured these pets lived the quality lives that they deserve. Go here: you'll never regret it; and your pet will benefit.

Manny Martinez

Kind of expensive.

Jan Verstraete

Skyler Bode

These folks have always taken the best care of our cats. We had to board them for a while due to a remodel, and we always got updates about how they were doing. Everyone made it home safe and healthy.

Brian Sheppard

Nice place. Clean, and friendly. You might have to wait because so many people bring their animals here(a good sign).

Kelly Maizenaski

Amazing staff and doctors

marie witiuk

These people really love animals. They treat them as if they were their own pets. The doctors we saw were excellent explaining everything clearly and in terms that we were able to understand. Surgery was necessary. Stitches were clean and straight. Highly recommend this clinic. Ask about senior citizens discount.

Nicholas Greder

Fast help. Very friendly and caring.

Monica Polanco

We generally go to Piscataway Animal Hospital which is affiliated with Raritan Animal Hospital. We've only had to use them for surgeries on our dog twice. Both times Monte was taken care of with love, caring and expertise. We were given options on pricing both high and low and were able to advise which one we wanted. They are pricey, but since Monte was given such good care both times, we would definitely continue to use them.

Jo Porter

Dr. Laffoon is wonderful. We have used him for over 20 years and wouldnt take our dogs to anyone else-except the specialist he reccomended for her heart. He is caring and understanding.

Barbara Ross

We have used Raritan Animal Hospital for nearly 40 years, covering 3 different dogs. They have always been honest, caring, professional and knowledgable, regardless of the circumstances. The doctors and office take the time to explain procedures, diagnoses, and charges in an easily understandable way. I have referred many family members and friends to Raritan Animal (Edison, Rt 27) and have heard only good reviews from them concerning their service. I feel fortunate to live near this facility, and would highly recommend it to anyone who truly cares about their pet's welfare.

Becky Mealer

I brought our new fur baby for a check up. They were great with my new baby.

Vicky Travis

Every time I have had an appointment at Raritan Animal Hospital, my little Pippen was treated professionally and very lovingly.

Dorothy Rubinstein

We have been with the practice for several years. Our experiences with both wellness and various types of sick/emergency visits have been exemplary. Our dogs and we are treated like family by the doctors and staff. Over the years our aging dog, Toto, was given superb care, with expertise, compassion and kindness until the very end of his long life. Our young dog, Teddy, was made to feel welcomed and special from his very first visit. We are always given great advice, terrific care and he enjoys coming to the office to see his friends and to get treats at both OTC and RAH. My strongest recommendation point is that 3 years ago we moved out of the area but travel to OTC or RAH for both routine and sick visits--We wouldn't ever think of bringing our Teddy anywhere else!

George Grumet

Very kind and attentive staff..and great doctors.

Michael T. Lowenthal

Taken both my cats here and have had great experiences with a friendly staff.

Carolyn Hart

Although most of my experiences with Raritan Valley Animal Hospital have been positive or neutral, some recent events have made me feel strongly otherwise. My dog dislocated his leg and when we brought him in was misdiagnosed. Because of the misdiagnosis, we missed the window to operate completely safely on his leg. We went to a specialist for surgery and something went wrong and my dog died. This on its own would be enough to make me wary, but I recently looked into adopting another dog for my family. The adoption agency asked for the Vet information, so I gave them their phone number. The Vet seemingly had incomplete records, and told the agency that my dog had never been neutered, and was behind on shots (extra ridiculous because we brought him in 2 months before his death for a check up). I forgave them for misdiagnosing because mistakes happen, but clearly this office is unorganized and dangerously incompetent. There are plenty of better Vet offices in Edison and Highland Park.

Jennifer Kean

I recently brought my cat in for repeat bloodwork at Raritan Animal Hospital. I love this hospital because the staff is so caring. My cat gets very upset during trips to the vet and even attempts to bite and scratch. However, the staff is understanding and treats him with love and respect, which I really appreciate. Dr. Traurig diagnosed an age-related health problem with my cat (he's 12) and gave me very good advice on why she doesn't want to start medication right away. Her knowledge is impressive. I really love this hospital!

Rebecca Hersh

Great place. They were great with my very neurotic scared-of-the-vet dog!

Rebecca Smith

Unfortunately we had to bring in our 17 year old cat to be put down. Each doctor and worker could not have been nicer. It was heartbreaking enough, but the Raritan Animal Hospital did everything they could to make us and our cat comfortable. We were given a private room in the back and could spend as much time as we wanted with our cat. They were sensitive and kind. We brought our cat in on Friday, and by Monday morning we had a sweet sympathy card and hand made pawprint cards from our kitty.

I have been using Raritan Animal Hospital for 15 years. They are warm, compassionate and conscientious. I love how they offer me all of my options based on my ability to pay for tests and what I deem important for my animal. I just wish their prices were a little lower.

Alex Skibinsky

Excellent vet care. Professional and courteous staff. Always helpful. Would highly recommend.

Glad I don't go to this hospital. Not fond of Dr. Amy Mischel (Eisenberg). She should be more educated injecting my pet and not knowing there was a diabetic side effect to the drug she gave her. Very disappointed. Paying $600.00 + now on my cat yearly. Thank God I still have her. Glad I switched vets. Would never see her again. :(

For the life of me I can't understand the bad reviews on here but I guess everyone's perception of excellent care is different. All I can say are these people are awesome. The went above and beyond to make sure my dog was taken care of when she got deathly ill. I can not thank them enough for all they have done and are doing right now as we speak. I'm waiting for the doctor to call me and let me know how the surgery went but no matter the outcome I know they have done all they can. As far as the prices I consider them very reasonable. I paid a lot less for an office visit than some of the reviews posted. So I think there may be some exaggeration there. Once again these people are awesome and I wish I could give them 10 stars.

This place is all about $$$.If I knew what I know now, I would have taken my dog straight to North Star Vet and I’m sure he would still be alive. My husband brought our Mini Schnauzer in because he had been vomiting for about a week. He was told that it could possibly be his diet but to determine blood work would have to be done. We did the recommended diet of chicken and rice and everything seemed perfect for about 3 days and then my dog lost his appetite. I called in to bring my dog in and was told I would only have to pay for the blood work and wouldn’t be charged again for consult because my pup had gotten worst. I bring my pup in on a Thursday and agreed to all suggestions, blood work, fluids due to dehydration, and some shot that I was told after the fact would only stop his vomiting for 24 hrs, and I had made it clear that he had not vomited. After the blood work, pancreatitis was ruled out but my pup had a high white blood cell count, low levels in his liver and gallbladder. Dr.Armstrong suggested a ultrasound to seem if there was inflammation of the gallbladder for a possible mucous seal. Told I had to go to a list of other places because the specialist who does ultrasound was on vacay for a month. Was told that my dog would need surgery but she cares for a dog that has a gallbladder the size of a golf ball and is doing fine on meds. So sounds like I had an option....She prescribed Urisol which I had to wait 4 days to come in the mail and some RX dog food. That was a Thursday, on Monday another doctor from the Piscataway location called me and said she was reviewing his file and was concerned so she called in some antibiotics for him and stressed the urgency to get the ultrasound. I was able to get my pup to North Star 2 days later but it was too late. His gallbladder ruptured, his liver was diseased and he had pancreatitis which the doctor at North Star explained to me could not be properly detected through blood work. In order to survive he would have to undergo 2 or more surgeries and only had a 30% survival rate. My baby was only 5 years old and I don’t wish this feeling on anyone. Just go straight to the vet hospital and I suggest North Star.

They are so good with my dog he really is happy there and I love it because vets and techs are there to take care of the animals

Since 1981, these caring practitioners have seen four of our cats from cradle to grave. Three more of our cats are under their care now. The youngest was Tatiana, who died at 6 months from feline infectious peritonitis. Raritan vets prescribed steroids to ease her last weeks. We lost Truffles at 15 years after bouts with hyperthyroid, diabetes, and kidney failure. Raritan vets taught us insulin injection. Later, as Truffles' kidneys failed, they taught us intradermal saline injection. My wife and I were there when Raritan vets put Ginger (15 years old, cancer), Truffles, and Tatiana to sleep. I could not watch when they put Pickles (17 years old, kidney failure) to sleep. For 34 years, Raritan vets have worked with us with care and skill through all of these feline lives. Daisy, Ebony, and Igor, three feisty young pusses, are their newest challenge. At Raritan Animal Hospital, they are in good hands.

Raritan Animal Hospital is incredible!! Love them! Heidi is not only the most amazingly thoughtful Office Manager I've worked with, but she really knows her stuff! I love them!!! If you want care, GO SEE THEM!!!

I went to Raritan animal hospital on 11/12/18 with my dog, Nikki, due to my dog being in extreme pain. She did not eat the whole weekend. Would not let anyone touch her head and her breathe was terrible. Dr. Levine examined Nikki and was afraid to open her mouth. Nikki has never bit anyone ever nor was aggressive towards him. She is a very docile pup. After exam, doctor concluded she must have a knee injury. I was baffled by his diagnosis. He proceeded to give her steroids. I asked him at that time to please schedule her for dental surgery as I believed it was her mouth. He said come back in a week, see how she does on steroids. I paid $84 and left with the steroids. I came back in an hour totally distraught that this man could possibly be so wrong about her diagnosis. The hospital returned my $10 for the steroids and scheduled dental surgery for the following week based on my recommendation not the doctor's. They proceeded to charge me $150 for the blood test for her pre-op testing. Dr. Levine believed I was wrong about her teeth but agree to the surgery. So my dog was suppose to stay in pain for a full week until she had surgery. I was unhappy with having to see my dog in pain for a week for her intended surgery appt. I decided to take Nikki to Plainfield Animal hospital that same day. She examined Nikki's mouth and saw she had blood in her mouth and possible a bad tooth in the back. She had surgery the next morning at 8am. Plainfield animal hospital was correct and Nikki had an abscessed tooth in the back. Nikki was feeling better the very next day. I am extremely disgusted/ aggravated with Raritan animal hospital for its very poor diagnosis and the money I spent to get no help for my dog's issue. I tried calling Heidi the office manager to get a refund or some sort of compensation for the poor service. 3 phone calls and never a returned call. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS HOSPITAL OR RECOMMEND IT TO MY FRIENDS. TOOK MY MONEY AND NEVER HELPED MY DOG. Highway robbery! UNQUALIFIED DOCTOR!!!!!!! Does this picture look like a knee injury.

My dog has been vomiting almost daily for almost a year first time I took her they did xrays, bloodwork, physical exam, ultrasound the dog even vomited all over the floor and the vet said that is bile . Well everything came back clear her bloodwork was fine so $800 later and almost a year no changes the other nite she was drinking water insatiably she could not quench her thirst then would throw up immediately kidney problems came to mind . I take her back here they do bloodwork , urine sample say everything looks good but we think she has allergies . Great an answer what is she allergic to ? Ummm we don’t know we will just say the most common things for dogs chicken, beef, and pumpkin. So you charged me $345 to guess at what she is allergic to then suggest a dog food that is extremely expensive that conveniently can only be bought there . No thanks we’ll try going to any and every place to find dry or wet dog food that doesn’t have some type of chicken in it IMPOSSIBLE!!!! It will say sweet potatoes read the ingredients 3rd one down chicken stock then I find a lamb stew 5 th ingredient chicken . So over $1000 later no answers don’t really seem to care and just guess every time I bring her in at this point I’m ready to bring her to my pediatrician because she will probably have more compassion and answers and won’t keep sending me in circles. Worst and I mean worst, uneducated, most unprofessional clinic for animals ever!!!! But they have great hours.

Everyone is friendly, from the people at the front desk to the vets that take care of your pets. They really listen to what you're saying, and they're available in emergency situations. I'd recommend anyone to this Veterinary practice.

Nice people

Jasper needed major dental surgery. My vet could not take care of him - did not have the required xrays, etc. And so we made an appointment (which was done quickly for a preop visit). Office staff very accommodating. The techs were kind to both Jasper and me. And most importantly Dr. Christine Spodnick did an exceptional operation. I recommend them highly.

Diane Vanderhoof

Polite staff, professional and courteous. They take great care of my pets. Highly recommended.

BETH S.

Excellent staff. Knowledgeable. They can perform many diagnostics onsite. I trust them with my pets.

Frances Cheng

I bring both of my dogs to Raritan Animal Hospital and have found their service to be consistently excellent. The front desk staff are always perky, accommodating, and extremely well mannered, and the vet techs are great with my skittish dogs. What I appreciate most about the facility is the frank honesty that the vets have shown me. They have not attempted to push unnecessary procedures or vaccinations in order to boost revenue. To me, this displays a high level of respect and integrity that will keep me coming back.

Jeremy Blue

GREAT! Great doctor, Great facility, Great staff.

Raymond Pinner

Excellent care and significantly less expensive than a number of other area veterinarians.

Edward Garcia

This vet is amazing. Top to bottom, we love and - more importantly - our dog loves going there. The doctors, vet techs, and staff are all caring, kind-hearted, wonderful people.

Henry Tat

I have four pets, two dogs and two cats, that I bring to the Raritan Animal Hospital routinely. The staff has be pleasant and kind to both me and my pets. The only negative that I can think of is the wait times are sometimes long to see vets but they're not terrible.

Laura Sadofsky

I have been taking my dogs to Raritan Animal Hospital for at least 7 or 8 years. Not only for veterinary care but for boarding as well! The doctors are very professional and very caring. And I can't say enough good things about the vet techs and everyone else who takes care of them while they are there for boarding! They obviously love animals and my dogs love them as well! I would highly recommend Raritan Animal Hospital!

I am in total awe at this place having any good reviews. My cat seemed to have, what we suspected was a UTI last week, so we brought him in here (the only place with a same day, walk-in availability). The vet was unable to attain a urine sample because my cat urinated in the carrier on the way in..so instead of doing any other testing or waiting on a new urine sample they decided it was a good idea to just inject my cat with a certain antibiotic/pain reliever and charge us $200 and send us on our way. WELL A FEW DAYS LATER, my cat is in obvious pain and is showing the same symptoms he had always had when we originally took him in and began to PISS BLOOD. After speaking with a feline specialist, we were told that the medication they gave my cat was the "WORST POSSIBLE THING THEY COULD HAVE GIVEN HIM" and that his symptoms could be life threatening so we rushed him in to see someone who knows what the hell they're doing, unlike the people at Raritan Animal Hospital. Do not take your pets to these greedy, arrogant "vets" who lack the proper knowledge to give adequate care to any animal.

I have been going to Raritan Animal Hospital for 18 years where 3 of my dogs have been patients. They have always been accommodating whenever I needed to bring a pet in on an emergent basis. The staff is friendly. Currently, my elderly dog will no longer let the groomer groom him, and the staff has been kind enough to help me out with this chore.

Donna Lanigan

The best ever!!!they are great!!

Raritan Animal Hospital came highly recommended when we recently moved back to Edison. The staff was exceptionally friendly and interested in my pet and I while we waited (a very reasonable amount of time). The doctor was professional, thorough, provided an explanation of options, and represented the care choices without regard for the amount of money that would be brought into the practice. Upon leaving and settling the bill, I asked for some recommendations for groomers and the woman at the desk found me several options. She also ensured I knew the appropriate steps to take for potential emergency situations with our dog. A fantastic experience that I'm sure will repeat itself the next time we go for a visit.

Gina Wallace-Maree

Everyone at Raritan Animal Hospital has always been very caring. I appreciate all the care and concern they show to Hazel and making sure she is comfortable.

Kevin Honan

We had a very sick cat and they provided detailed, thoughtful, guilt-free guidance on diagnosis and treatment options. Overall, their services were lower cost than what we had expected, especially compared to places like Banfield, and they seemed more focused on care of our pet rather than pushing their services. Thankfully our little guy pulled through but if anything else comes up we are definitely coming back here.

Emanuel Armour

Great staff... Friendly dog service

Greg Ris

I bring my ferret here and the staff is very friendly, no long waits in the waiting room, knowledgeable staff. Dr. S has helped so much and my ferret is getting better. Would highly recommend.

I took my first cat to Raritan many years ago and although it's a bit out of my way to take my new cat there, it's worth the trip. The staff is warm and friendly. The vets take their time to thoroughly explain the treatment. It's great that there is a team of veterinarians that work together and consult with each other to help my cat get well. I had a very positive experience taking my cat to Raritan Animal hospital and tell anyone I know who needs a good vet about Raritan. I wouldn't take my cat anywhere else.

Robert Barone Jr

Wonderful staff. Extremely caring and aware of our dogs needs. Been going to them for nearly 7 years and plan on continuing to patronize them for the foreseeable future.

Lisa Buchinski

I would not go to any other vet. The staff is amazing! So kind and comforting when we put our animals down. Thank you all for your support in such a difficult time. The Buchinski Family❤

Mehul Vora

Slightly $$ but they take care of our furry friends.

Dr. Alan Winder

Excellent vet. Dr traurig is the best!

James Hughes

We recently were there with our dog. Unfortunately, he had to be put down as he was old and not doing well. The staff was kind and compassionate during this difficult time.

We always go there for my dog and it has been so well until today. We never meet this doctor before but she is so unprofessional. I ask if she can check my dog’s teeth and she just try to open my dog’s mouth right away without try to pet her first so my dog was trying to turn her head away from the doctor as she does not know her. Then the doctor told me she cannot do it because my dog is trying to bite her. And then when the doctor tries to give my dog vacinne, same thing, without try to pet my dog first, she just push the needle into her leg immediately and as my dog tries to “bite” the needle as she did not even position my dog right, the doctor pull her hand away and spills some of the vaccine. I guess she is afraid that it may hurt my dog’s leg so she asked my dog to walk afterward to see if she can walk normally. This is so unacceptable. She may have a long day and feels tired but she needs to be responsible otherwise she should not work. She should go home. I am so disapponited.

My dog Max has been seeing the doctors at Raritan and Oak Tree for 12 years, since he was a puppy. About 2 1/2 years ago he got very sick and was diagnosed with Diabetes and Cushings Disease. We thought we were going to lose him. The doctors and staff gave him the best care until they found the right treatment plan for him. He is now doing great (with medication), has gained 13 pounds and is like his old self. I am truly grateful for the care he received and how kind everyone was.
