The worst place you can go to with your loved pet....all they care about is money money money they left my dog with an injury bleeding to prepare the bill even tho I told them money is not an issue just help the poor bleeding dog....then they want to discuss the bill and brake it down while my dog is sitting there bleeding like are you freaking serious lady I was furious and would never ever recommend them because instead of wrapping the wpuns and cleaning it they say they have a full schedule and can't do anything so why did they put us in a room? To get a fee for a visit which I did not pay go screw yourself money Hungary they do not care about your pet they care about your wallet they are disgusting and I can't believe they still in business.....I went to Bayonne animal clinic they cleaned the would completely gave the dog pain meds because they see it was severe....severe enough they sedated her but not severe enough for westside animal clinic to stand there build a bill and say theor schedule is full how can you call yourself a vetenarian and you have no love for pets....these people are the worst and I would NEVER EVER LEAVE A LOVED PET TO THEIR CARE NEVER.....PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME THERE IS PLENTY OF VETS OUT THERE THAT WILL CARE MORE THAN THIS GARBAGE PLACE AND I'M SURE THEY WILL CARE MORE BECAUSE THESE PEOPLE AT WESTSIDE ARE HEARTLESS. HEARTLESS HEARTLESS. DO NOT DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE.

We recently moved to the area and needed a new vet ASAP when our cat wasn't feeling well. Based on the reviews I called different a local vet and made a same day appointment. To my surprise, I accidentally called Jersey City Animal Hospital instead of that other vet without realizing it, so I actually ended up here by accident. We appreciated the experience so much that we brought our dog the very next day for his overdue checkup. Dr. Buchholz and his assistants were so great with both our cat and dog (who is a highly anxious pitbull). He was super knowledgeable, personable, and not the least bit pushy. He outlined our options and gave us space to make the decisions that worked best for us. So happy to have found this place!

We have used this place for several years and have spent thousands of dollars here. This place has no compassion and is over priced. My 14 year old dog couldn't walk, eat, drink or control his bladder. He was dying and in pain. My wife called as soon as they opened, explained the emergency and was told that we would have to wait in the waiting room, because they were very busy today. Really!!! I'm supposed to sit in a waiting room with a dying dog, in pain, while someone makes a grooming appointment!!! Needless to say I was outraged. I called my former vet at Bergenline Animal Hospital and they said they would take us right away. They had the room prepared and we spent less than 5 min. on paperwork. They also charged LESS THAN HALF of what Jersey Animal Hospital wanted for the same procedure.

Dr Beard is amazing. Has a love for animals beyond it all. She not only loves her job but, works with a passion. That is very important when finding a place to care for your furry friend. I suggest her 100 % more than any other MD. Front staff is not to welcoming. If you ask a question they never know the answers. They are not to organized with there paper work. But some of the young ladies and men do try. Usually the newly hired. The technicians are great. You can see their passion as they work and help alongside the vet doctors. Prices are not bad. To me they are reasonable. At the end its the service that comes along with the prices.

i brought my dog here for an infection, the doctor had just graduated med school, i could tell right away she had no idea what she was doing. they wanted to do 1200 bucks in tests. i said no give me the meds and thats it. my dog quickly recovered and is fine. THEY SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE STATE!

The doctors, techs and staff are the kindest; our pets (bunnies and kitties) always receive the gentlest care from the team here. Additionally, I've seen everyone who works here demonstrate great empathy. I'm glad we live in the neighborhood and lucked into finding such a veterinarian's office.

This is a very friendly environment and they seem to treat pets well. The exams are not expensive but if your animal has health issues things can get pricey here, but that will happen no matter where you go. I really do recommend trying this place out if you live in the area and are in need of a good vet.

Don't really like giving bad reviews and won't go into too many details I'd just suggest going else where for your pets sake and for your pockets sake.

Dr. Beard is wonderful and compassionate, I would recommend her to anyone I knew with a pet. When our rabbit was in need of a specialist for the safest surgery, she provided an estimate and a suggested specialist and allowed us to make the best decision based on price and what was best for the pet. ( Rabbits are very risky to put under so they need special equipment for the highest chance of making it). She has seen our dog for wellness visits ( and will see our cat's as well). When my foster was rushed in for congestive heart failure and sadly did not make it they did everything they could to revive him. She took time to let me see him one last time even though I had no appointment and stayed with me while I cried and said goodbye. Today we received a hand written sympathy card, and it meant the world. I will continue to visit her for all of our pet's needs.

It's difficult to find a vet who treats hedgehogs and I'm so glad I found these guys. I drove from Hoboken and it was worth it. I thought my little guy had mites (luckily he didn't) and both the vet assistant and doctor handled him so well. It was reassuring knowing they both had hedgies of their own. Usually he hates being handled by new people, but he really got along with both of them. If your hedgie needs anything, bring them here.

I took my Sebastian there when we moved to jersey about a year ago. I thought they were great.. I took my little man there when it was time to put him to sleep. They were very caring and let me have all the time I needed with him. I recently got a new Maltese and I am currently taking him there as well. they are awesome with him. JCAH is the best.

I have recently started taking my 3 year old Am Staff/Pit mix here after finding my last vet clinic a bit lacking in service, and cannot praise this place enough! We saw Dr. Buchholz who is phenomenal! He took his time with us, addressed all of our concerns and was extremely informative. His staff is also very attentive and efficient. We were presented with an estimate prior to agreeing to any medication and/or procedures and were able to discuss options at that point. I then received a follow-up call the next morning just to check in on my fur baby. The doctor himself then called me with test results and took the time to fully explain the results and course of action. I would highly recommend this clinic to any pet owner!

This place was recommended to me by another pet hospital near by, we were told it would be less expensive and that they would accept us as a walk-in. My pups leg is really swollen, this was an emergency, i had to call out of work to visit a vet. We called and spoke to woman and asked if they do accept walk-ins, and she said yes they do. We take the drive Down to Westside Ave and walk in with our pup limping, huge swollen leg, to get told they don’t accept walk-ins. I said i just spoke on the phone with you and you said yes, she replied she did not know who we spoke to. She then mumbled something, i asked her to speak up and she said everyone is on lunch right now until 2pm. She was very dismissive. My boyfriend then asked again and now someone else says we can come back at 2pm. Apparently they just wanted to go on lunch and not help us at all. They looked over at our dog, still friendly and energetic and probably thought it would take long or he would be a handful. I’m currently over at the Animal Clinic in Union City they are very nice and helpful. I recommend this place if you need help.

Seemed to take good care of my cat. My only problem was that it was expensive. Even with low cost CARE certificate, male cat neuter came up to over $400. I'll try people for animals next time because of price.

Horrible. Dumb vet (c-low) wired my cat's jaw without taking an x-ray first during a dental procedure. Turns out she didn't need to be wired. A month of pain for all of us. Hope the hospital fired that guy.

About a month ago I brought my German Shepherd here because he had a weird black, scaly, irritated rash looking thing on his legs, by his groin, up his belly and around his snout. At reception, a very young girl took my information and recorded my dog's weight (97LBS). She was very monotone, had no expression on her face and did not look professional at all, which should have been a giveaway for what I was about to experience. The "doctor" who "helped" us said it was nothing to worry about. He told us to give Pharaoh some Benadryl (even thou it may not work) and to wait it out because he was more than likely just having Allergies. He also suggested we bathe him less so that his body oils would do their job. I came to find my now stinky pup has a FUNGAL INFECTION not allergies, and needed treatment. My poor pup! The doctor didn't even lift my dogs leg to check his scaly black skin. In fact he looked terrified of my dog. The doctor stayed up against the counter the entire time playing with his beard and was more worried about us neutering our dog than the actual reason why we were there. I was refereed here by a friend, she may have had a different experience, because from my experience I honestly feel this place at the time of my visit was unprofessional and unhelpful.

Very disappointed with this place. My dog had an emergency Saturday afternoon and this place was the only office that was opened. They refused to take her because we got there at 4 and they closed at 5 so it wouldn't have been enough time for the doctor to give her stiches. So ridiculous, rude, and inconsiderate!

So my sweet baby had to have an emergency cystonomy--bladder stone removal--and I could not feel more fortunate coming across jersey city animal hospital. After being quoted $5400 in Brooklyn at VERG I tried desperately to find something more financially feasible that was very well reviewed and came across Jersey city animal hospital. I absolutely do NOT regret my decision. Dr. Matute was unbelievably comforting and welcoming to our adventure and she really made the whole experience exceptional. She explained every detail and answered all of my (many) questions in regards to the procedure and assured me that it was nothing out of the ordinary and that these things happen pretty regularly. She was also very helpful in regards to my (again, many) questions about recovery and how to go about all of the medications involved afterwards. Really, all of the staff we interacted with were super welcoming and friendly and seemed to have heart. My sweet boy Todd has (almost) fully recovered and we are both very much looking forward to the removal of the stitches this weekend. This place saved me thousands of dollars on a pretty routine surgery and again, I am SO thankful I found the best possible treatment for my sweet baby boy.

So I am not sure if a vet was little careless in knowing a new customer. She basically didn't ask me about the shot history of my dog and told me I need to give rabies and other shots. so got the rabies shot just to find out later it is not a shot you need to give your dog every year. Then I asked her, and she said oh we don't have any medical records of your dog. but on the phone I had a chat with the lady who confirmed that she hs mu medical records obtained from my previous vet. Even then, as a vet I think they should ask in person what shot have been given. I was pretty upset. I dont think I will go there again.

Great doctors. Never have to wait long to be seen. The vet techs are great at calming my dog down when he's getting his temperature taken. They're also quick to provide full medical records, which helps with filling insurance claims.

This place does not even deserve 1 star. The Vet (Dr Kimberly Danaher) gave my mom's 9 year old yorkie 3 vaccines at once. The instruction that was given as a possible side effect was a swollen face, and soreness. 3 hours after these vaccines, my mothers poor dog "choked" and she died. She was rushed back to this hospital and they were unable to help her. Today 6/15/2017 after going back to pick up the body, we spoke to Dr Danaher to get answers. Of course NOTHING was being said. I then started asking questions, what are the side effects exactly, were proper instructions given to my mother? She goes on saying the side effects consists of a swollen face, swollen throat, soreness. I froze and said, WHAT? A SWOLLEN THROAT? DID YOU TELL MY MOTHER ABOUT THIS WHEN SHE LEFT WITH THE DOG yesterday? She looked at my sister and I and LIED and said YES I DID. I flipped out, because she was lying. She, not once, mentioned a swollen throat. I then tell her, our dog choked because she caught a reaction to the vaccines, her throat swelled up and no wonder she could not get her food down, if mother had known this information she would have never fed her. This lady is a disgrace, and 100% the cause of our little dogs death and the cause of my mothers broken heart. The dog was completely healthy. It is sad, and I want other people to be aware. We will speak to a lawyer and take legal action if need be. PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE COMING HERE :'(

It is an unassuming and charming place. Everyone I engaged with was pleasant, friendly and smiling, and they weren’t faking it (from the reception desk to the Turtle in her terrarium!) I brought my cat in for dental work: Dr. Adam Powers was thorough, gentle, clear and detailed and was so patient with my questions. Drop off and pick up was a breeze. His assistant Enrique (sp.?) was also such a friendly and gentle man. Did a thorough exam, made multiple estimates so I could make a fully informed decision. They were totally authentic in explaining what were optional procedures and why they were suggested. They said I could check in in the middle of the day and they were ready to give me an update when I called after 2:00. They even refunded some money to me because one of the extractions happened almost by-the-by with the others and they didn’t feel like charging me for that made sense. That really warmed my heart! They’re much less expensive than anyone I know who has had to get complicated dental Work done for their pet *anywhere* in NYC. The next day they made a courtesy check in call and it didn’t just feel like a routine they had to do. This place is legit, the people are wonderful. So appreciate them! Also: they have some really great animal art on walls! (Maybe i should ask Extreme Makeover folks to Help them really celebrate that art and the people there!)

The front desk staff is organized and friendly. The doctors are all nice and competent as are the assistants/techs. They all seem to love animals. Very convenient by bus or car (they have parking). They take you pretty much at your actual appointment time and do follow up calls, etc. I've been going to them for 20+ years.

We brought our little Corgi here a year and a half ago after our previous vet caused troubles ( they cancelled out spay appointment while we were there. It was an hour before her scheduled spay ). Her surgery went fantastic here! About a year later we came back for an emergency and it turned out our corgi has bladder stones. The staff was so loving to our pup, and so helpful! they helped us figure out the bill so we could pay. It was lovely! Our pup loves to see these guys which means something is going right! We're always satisfied with their care, as is Trixie. Wouldn't dare go to another place!

Words cannot express my gratitude for the kindness and compassion of Dr. Denaher and her team. Sadly, my Jack Cat passed away a few weeks ago and I had to make the heartbreaking decision to end his pain. Dr. Dehaner and her team of caring professionals not only took exceptional care of Jack in his final days, but made sure that I was equipped to deal with this as well. Upon Jack's passing, they promptly sent a condolence card to my home, and informed me when his ashes were available to retrieve. The doctor even made time to speak with my ex-husband who I adopted Jack with when we arrived together to pick up Jack's ashes so he could gain closure as well. Jersey City Animal Hospital's love and care for all animals is evident, and their team goes above and beyond to make sure that us pet owners are taken care of as well. I can't say thank you enough for helping me get through this transition.

Even the dogs and cats that were there were friendly (smile) over all, it's a great place to take your animal for grooming and treatment. I even met some one who spends $80.00 in cab fare that comes from Brooklyn, New York to bring her pet there. That was what impressed me to continue with this company.

I've been taking my cats to this hospital for years. I had a Friends of Animals certificate to get one spayed. They tried to charge me $400 for a teeth cleaning that she didn't need. Generally I'm happy with them, but it seems like they will try to scare you into paying for procedures that are not needed.

Dr. Buchholz was able to put my Pomeranian Chloe on precise treatment plan that she has been responding very well to. The patient education I received from this clinic was extremely informative. Maybe not the newest or fanciest office, but that's just fine, because they will take great care of you and your pet. The prices are very reasonable compared to others in the area. They will give you a printout/breakdown of services available, with no pressure to spend more than you need. The doctors and techs have been just lovely, and they truly do care. They also have on-site parking, which is definitely a plus in this city! I am sorry I didn't find them sooner!
