John Boyle, DVM -- AVOID 1 This mo. is the 4th Anniversary of the cruel/inhumane KILLING/treatment of my kitty-cat by John Boyle (Owner & Vet), 4 which he has a permanent sanction on his record w/the NJ State Veterinary Board & was fined $1,000 -- neither of which erased the pain/horror that Tasha-kitty & I experienced at his hands when I brought her in to be 'euthanized' (given a PAINLESS death). He refused to sedate her be4 the procedure, instead choosing 2 rush thru it -- causing her 2 die screaming in pain while I watched in helpless shock. IN MEMORY OF MY BELOVED TASHA-KITTY pls AVOID this Vet Hospital & its associated facilities in Hoboken & Jersey City. Be very careful. I love this Vet. I bring all 4 of my dogs here and they always are well taken care of. The prices aren’t bad and the service is great. I love the Head Vet Tech Mariah, she is so sweet and willing to do whatever to make sure my pets are healthy and happy. They don’t advertise shave downs but Mariah helped me and gave my dog one because he really needed it. Dr.Gillen is great also. I highly recommend!

I just LOVE this hospital!!! Dr. Wisegarver solved my puppies severe skin rash another Dr. at another hospital could not diagnose after countless visits and ($$$$). Dr. Wisegarver was kind enough to show me under the microscope these disgusting insects on my dogs skin that were causing the problem. He explained everything to me and the treatment needed ON MY FIRST VISIT! It has been about a week since I started the medicine and the skin has already showed a great improvement! Im very happy with my decision to try this hospital! My dog Jessie has stopped the constant scratching and can finally get a full nights rest. I recommend this hospital everyone! I am very satisfied and will be bringing my other cat Jynx in as well for now on. Also the staff is great! The doctor was very intelligent and warm to my puppy as well as the technicians, they gave him treats and rubbed his belly and he LOVED them! Also the receptionists were very helpful and because I was on a limited fund already they gave me an estimate and were able to work with my limits. My 12 year old dog chewy recently got really sick! I live an hour away and he is with my parents who dont speak english very well . Dr. Boyle Dr. Collins and the staff have been so extremely kind, helpful, considerate and understanding. I am amazed at how loving they are and how well they treat their patients and customers. I am really glad chewy truly has the best care in town. Hopefully he will get better soon. I am very optimistic because he has the best people helping him. Thank you for caring for our baby.

I had to say goodbye to my precious 15 year old Lab mix. And I know she got the love needed to leave this world. I love you Haze. I wish other people would have helped me so I would not have had to make this terrible decision. Thank you staff and Doctor for providing the necessary comfort my precious Haze needed to leave me. So sorry Haze.. I love you terribly and miss you so much. I had to move out of state and did not find help to take you with me. Please forgive me. People with pets should not be forced to rid themselves of their beloved pets. There should be agencies that provide assistance for low income families so that others receive help, thus protecting their beloved pets from making the decision I had to make. However, Bergen Animal Hospital consoled me in my time of need. And I am sure they took good care of my Haze.

They killed my beatifull dog kloe ... I went August 10 2018 because she don’t eat lost Litle appetite take blood samples and Rx and medicine to vomit 415 dólares . In August 15 come back she no eat they give me antibiotics and dicided opérate because have 3 tumors that never pain but no look good ... 140 dollars more .., Friday 17 has a cirgury 874 dollars she continue eat Litle bites never eat dog food only deli turkey o chicken ... I give her all medicine antibiotic and other after cirgury on Sunday 19 she was on pains terrible pain and Died suffered a lot he was shut up his hip and crying a lot of.. they said stupid answers He plugged an artery and caused the blood not to go to the brain as it is possible that that happened and they never talked about that risk The Phantom Doctor who never gave me the face didn't know what could happen . Y spend money to my kloe die in Two days under terrible pain ... 1430 in 9 days .. I will never come back there go to other hospital please they don’t care the animal only the money

My 14 year old Jack Russell has severe arthritis in his left front leg from Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted fever. After spending over $300 at my vet and no improvement, I then tried Bergenline Animal Hospital and he was seen by Dr John Boyle. After one visit and 24 hours later my dog showed dramatic improvement! Within one week he was back to normal, no more limping!! I highly recommend Bergenline Animal Hospital for excellent veterinary care!!!

Zero star.. they are Not professional, I took my cat for a check up of course my cat was nervous and the vet put him anesthesia.. and charge me for that.. also he was trying to convince me to make an surgery to cut his Nails permanent..Not to mention they are super expensive.. they take advantage of the situation.. I have three dogs, all of different sizes and breeds/mixed, and each time they have visited, they have always felt better in no time; no misdiagnoses, not expensive at all, friendly staff, and above all they understand that caring for your animal can not only be stressful but expensive (based on income) and time consuming. They are willing to work with you to the fullest to insure the full care of an animal. And on a side note that not many bring up, there is NO rough handling of the animals!! None what so ever. I had one of my dogs stay for surgery and when I got him back, they not only escorted him out carefully and gave me immediate antibiotics to prevent infection, but they even showed me what they had removed and how many, that way there weren’t any surprises. They honestly are amazing with what they do. Of course you can’t please everyone all the time but this is a place that cares for the animals and your wallet. You might not like what you hear personally, but they give it to you straight when it comes to your pet, why? Because they care!!! If I could give it 6+ stars I honestly would!!

STAY AWAY from Dr. Gillen of the Bergenline Animal Hospital! (If I could rate him a negative 5 starts I would) If you truly care about your animal, there's no need to take the risk of having your animal treated by this person. His service and judgement are inadequate. I was a client for almost a year because this veterinarian is close to my home and because I only needed routine checkups for my two dogs. But when the time came to assess a high risk situation properly, he failed and I lost my dog. First off, his level of attentiveness is very low. This vet exudes very little interest in what he does or in the people he is servicing. His recommendations tend to lack assertiveness and I rarely left his office with confidence in his assessments. There is very little sense of urgency with this vet and it almost seems as if he would rather do something other than veterinary service. But I remained his client due to the aforementioned reasons. Yes, this may just be my interpretation. However, it's worth noting. The most important caveat in this review: On a Friday in early April of 2019 one of my dogs began to show signs of heavy breathing. He began to pant heavily. He was taken to Dr. Gillen. I was a bit apprehensive about having him diagnosed by this doctor because my faith in him had eroded almost entirely, but again, given his proximity to my home and the fact that he was the cheaper of two vets that were close to my home, I decided to go with Dr. Gillen after all. My very regretful mistake. He X-rayed the dog. After having the expensive process done, the diagnosis was inconclusive. He checked the dog's heartbeat. He stated that he couldn't read the dog's heart and couldn't determine what exactly was impeding my dog from breathing properly. He simply couldn't assess my dog's health issue, and of course it's understandable if a doctor cannot assert a conclusive diagnosis. But what he did not do was the unacceptable fail! Instead of explain the severity of the situation and sending the dog straight to an actual animal hospital for a more detailed diagnosis and urgent care, he recommended that I wait a week to see what happens. The next day during the evening the panting got worse and I decided to just take the dog to an actual Animal Hospital in the neighboring county. (The Bergenline Animal Hospital is not a real hospital - misleading name). So I rushed my dog to an actual animal hospital, but he had a stroke on the way, and by the time I got there I had no real choice but to have the dog euthanized. I asked the doctor that tended to me at the hospital if the dog would have stood a chance of surviving had I taken him straight to the real hospital the day before, right after I saw Gillen. She stated that there would have been a better chance. At least the dog would have had an extra day of life and perhaps some advanced treatment would have prevented the stroke. But Gillen did not assess the severity of the situation adequately and his only recommendation was to wait it out for a week. Consequently, I lost my dog. Should I have decided against Dr. Gillen's judgement and gone to the hospital immediately after seeing him anyway? Perhaps, but he's the professional and if as a client I couldn't trust his judgement, then why would anyone spend the money on him and risk the life of one's beloved pet? Hence, the point of this review. I lost my dog because of Gillen's poor assessment.
