We have moved a few things and we still choose VCA Riverside as our vet. They truly have our pets best interest at heart. We recently brought our new baby in.

Meh. Staff is great, super friendly, and answers all my questions as best as they can. But, I can never seem to get a call back from them and they are rather expensive. I spent about $300 to get tests done on one of my rabbits and did not receive any calls about the results, despite being promised multiple calls as the 4 weeks needed for results go by. When I asked what I should do if the results were negative and just a result of behavioral problems, no one could really answer and i had to Google my question again. I paid double what other people have paid at pther vets in order to get my rabbit neutered. All in all, great for run of the mill pets, but maybe try another vet if you have an exotic animal or light wallet.

The doctor was very generous with her time & with sharing information, too. We asked lots of questions, & she answered them all. Very kind and helpful. Also, very fair pricing, as well. So we left with a smile on our faces.

I called in because I thought my cat had a case of fleas and also was in need of a check-in. Ashley was incredibly helpful and was able to get me in immediately on a Saturday morning the minute I called and the first visit/exam was free. All of the staff was very helpful and welcoming and I would definitely recommend taking your animals there!

The nurses were all welcoming and understood we were late because our newest cat was a recent adoption from a rather known hoarding case, so was unsocialized and took my husband and I quite a while to get her contained. We got our usual cooing for our first adoption, a Scottish Fold and American Shorthair mix. I'm only giving 2 stars because the Male Vetrenarian that came to see us accused me (not my husband, who was standing there) of CROPPING HER EARS! Obviously he had never seen a Scottish Fold in person before and didn't bother looking at her lienage before the accusation. I was shocked, appalled and angry at the accusation and the nurses knew it, I don't think they understood his line of questioning, either. The nurses treated us extra kind afterwards but I could never forget his tone when accusing me, an adopted mother of 2 SPCA rescues, of brutal modification for the sake of vanity. It was over a year ago and it still angers me that a "professional" was so ignorant and uneducated.

I've been using Riverside for about a year now and I absolutely love the staff at Riverside Vets! They are all very friendly and knowledgable. They always treat my dog with great care and love. My dog loves going here for both his vet appointments and doggy day care.

I wish I could do more than five stars!! These are only people I 100% trust with my pitbull. I've never met a more animal loving group of people. My baby, Opie, has some health issues, including a life threatening case of picca/separation anxiety, which actually would've killed him if it wasn't for Riverside squeezing him in (for the first time), at such short notice. And then after they saved Opie's life, both the vets AND the doggy daycare staff continue to treat him with so much love, care, and attention, and work with us both to continue finding ways to manage Opie's health issues. I cannot thank the VCA staff enough!!

Staff is professional and very attentive to details. They all handled my rescued service kitten in training "Ferris" with love and compassion during the two visits we've had at this wonderful vacility. The Vet even talked to me over the phone recently about my concerns health wise for me when i broke out with 39 lesions of ringworm and had to wait 7-10 days after a culture sample from my kitten was taken. I am doing the best I can to cope with all that is going on in my body and in my brain. I commend this amazing staff for the compassion they also show to me for the seriousness of my health and definitely they want to be encouraging g me to continue to train Ferris to become my service animal and travel work me 24/7! The kitten has learned extremely fast and is highly intelligent bangel tiger kitten now 13 weeks old and very cute too! It was rough having to sterilize everything the kitten has touch or slept on to avoid transferring the germs of the ringworm. For me it was a bad case with 39 lesions, my grandson had one and my granddaughter had two lesions from the ringworm too.my hats off to a staff that goes above and beyond to help however they can when you bring your beloved animal!!!

Riverside has been out vet clinic for fifteen years. A bit expensive but otherwise satisfied with their care of our dogs - from puppies to end of life.

Their service is exceptional, I've use them as a vet, day care, and pet boarding. They all know my dog on site, and show affection and care for him openly.

Jim Lafond

When Mary and i got Casey he was a patient at Riverside already, we kept him there at the ok from our vet . we kept Casey till Mary past away on Mothers Day 2013 -- The staff at Riverside were so helpful and accommodating. I got Casey certified as a Service Dog for my disability. He also became the very 1 st P.A. certified Dog in the state . and for his breed that was super . the staff was with Casey and I all the way. Casey then needed some dental work very Badly and again they were there especially Jess. she made every thing possible.and when i have a bad time the staff -always there not just for Casey but for me also and with my disability and on SS that means so much. They give meaning to the word CARING !!! You should be proud of your entire staff at Boscawen N.H. I would not be with out them as long as my Casey is with me or me him .. Sincerely-- James and Casey Lafond Thank You All.

Friendly and caring veterinary care for your pet. Reception and staff were excellent.

Riverside was a wonderful place for a long, long time. Doggie daycare was a godsend for me. The people were caring and my girls had a great time. Patient loyalty was highly prized. Then it was sold to VCA. When my girls came home from daycare they weren't as happy and exhausted. I wasn't told, in advance, that my daycare package ($) was nearly up so that I could buy a new one. They would charge for a day or 2 at full price then tell me to purchase a new package. Riverside is now run by a corporation with corporation standards! I switched vets.

We dropped in, out-of-town, with a semi-emergency. Our pup got quilled, and we needed help! Poor guy was miserable. But the staff fit us in last minute, and within an hour, we had our pup back, fully de-quilled! Staff were friendly, helpful, and expedient. Plus, the bill was lower than expected! Can't argue with that.

Andrew Desmarais

A bit more expensive than a typical very, but you notch care.

The vet and vet tech or asst. that seen my puppy was not very personable. They did not once speak or try to do anything to relate to my puppy. They did not once smile at us or really even speak to us but say dogs name? They showed no interest in what they were doing. I've had other vets for my other dogs. They talk to the dogs. Try to make them relax and you can just tell they have that job because they love animals.

Thank you to all of the staff. They are very caring, loving, supportive and compassionate . They offer wonderful service. They had to aide us in putting our boy out of pain. And they were wonderful. Will definitely be returning there for our other furry babies. We have moved back in the area and I wasn't caring for the other vet we had down this way. So thank you for all the care and compassion you had my best friend.

Let me just make a public announcement real quick. I suggest that no one EVER bring their animals to vca riverside animal hospital. So I drop mazie off for daycare today so I can run a few errands. Let me tell you that I left her there for no more than 3 hours. I pick her up and she's literally gasping for air as the girls are telling me oh no she's fine, she's just excited to see you. And I keep telling them that I've never heard that noise before and something isn't right. I then ask if she's been drinking water which the girl replied "I think". Now we've had this problem again and we've talked to so many different people there to make sure they know they need to MAKE SURE she drinks a lot because she's stubborn. So, "I think", was not an okay answer at all. I made the girl go get mazie ice, she didn't even want to take it from her and all she had to say is well if she's still doing this in an hour you should probably call us back but I think she's fine. So here I am, freaking out. Freaking out is an understatement actually by far. I get home and just give her so much ice because she's pretty much devouring the ice and this point. Her entire face was blood shot red. My poor baby couldn't breathe and they didn't care nor did nothing about it and just dismissed it. I don't know how long this went on but I'm sure lucky I picked her up when I did. Don't bring your animals there. They simply do not care.

Dana Haselton

Great to my dog. Thanks VCA

The veterinarians here are competent and caring. The vet techs vary from very caring and personable, to cold. After losing four pets in four months (not their fault), it became hard to go in there, almost traumatic, but I continued bringing my pets there. When I went to pick up the cremains of the last dog I lost, I was told that there was no footprint. I had asked for a footprint (there were two people in the room with me who can confirm), and now this was the only pet for whom I did not have one. It was April, and I was (still am) grieving, and the front desk handled this very poorly. I was crying, and the woman I spoke with was very defensive. She kept saying, “Well, we obviously can’t get it now.” Yes. No kidding. It was awful. Another woman told me someone would call me to tell me if it got misplaced, or what had happened. A few weeks went by, and no one called. I finally called them, and someone got back to me to let me know they definitely did not have it. I brought my new puppies and older dog in for a check-up. It was tough being there, where I had experienced so much loss, and I ended up crying in the visit, and expressing that it would take me a while to get over the anger I was feeling over the mistake they made. Dr. Vetter was apologetic and understanding, even though he was not involved in any of what happened. When I went to the front desk to check out, I was still crying, and just went through the motions to pay the bill. As I prepared to leave, the front desk person said, all sing-songy, “Have a nice day!” The lack of understanding was like a knife to my heart. These people had seen me come in with three very old, sick animals (the other one went to the emergency vet) in the past few months, and here I stood, crying, just trying to get out. The TOTAL LACK OF EMPATHY was astounding. Despite how upset I was because of the mistake they made, I was going to continue having my three dogs cared for there, because the veterinarians do seem to be competent and caring. I would have gotten over it.( And, to be clear, I was respectful in voicing my sadness.) But the coldness of at least one of the vet techs, as well as, in my experience, the total lack of empathy of the front desk staff, have left me looking for a new veterinarian. I think I would feel humiliated just walking in there again, like the front desk would say to each other, “Oh, here comes that crier.” I lost two cats and two dogs from January through April. And then, I felt like I had one more thing taken away from me, when I didn’t get my dog’s footprint. So when I went in there in May, a little understanding might have been nice, but the people at the front desk made me feel very small. I would say they need more training, but I’m not sure sincere empathy can be taught.

We just started going here but everyone is so helpful & knowledgeable! We found out our cat has a parasite and even on the weekend I got a call back about questions I had. Also this is the first vet office where my cat wasn't insanely scared to the point that she took a shot without complaint.
