I love Dr. Tom and the crew. They're up front, casual and honest and clearly love pets. No appointment needed makes it easy to walk in. The wait is almost always very little, and the cost of services is competitive.

If I could give negative stars I would. I adopted a puppy last summer who got sick and I took him to this vet three mornings in a row because he was lethargic, puking, diarrhea, wouldn't eat or drink. The vet never did a test for parvovirus and my puppy died on the 4th day. We took him to Cilley vet in concord on the 4th morning and he was tested immediately and sent to caves to get treatment but it was already too late. Great brook vet misdiagnosed my dog and he passed away after a long 4 days of suffering due to this vet not doing the proper testing and negligence. We now travel 40 minutes to a different vet to get the proper care for our animals

Good for basic vet care and maintenance, but for intensive care probably should go to vet hospital First!

Brandi Maleski

AWFUL. The doctor is nice, but they can never get their records straight. Each time we bring out animals in they "can't find a record" and we have to pay for another not necessary visit. This last time they had our cat that died 5 years ago on file but not out bunny we brought in less than a year ago. Officially never going there again.

They are amazing! Super friendly staff, they have helped me so much when my cats became mama's. Did a great job when one of them needed a c-section pretty quickly. Prices are also affordable.

The prices are outrageous and completely greedy. I found other local programs that have tons more compassion and doesn't cost a small fortune.

Kind, gentle and understanding (I can't watch the injections for my pups as I am needle phobic) . Reasonable prices and NO appointment needed! Clean and NO odors!!!

The vet at this location tried to prescribe a medication for my cat at a very high dose. I went to another vet for a second opinion and thankfully I did. That dose would have overdosed her. Highly recommend to not go here.

We have taken our pets to Great Brook since we moved to the area in 2007. Dr. Tom and the staff are caring, compassionate people. I have no qualms about recommending them to anyone.

Wonderfull people was leary of the walk in policy but has worked perfect. Fair reasonable pricing for a caring pet doctor ....

Jim Krieger

Professional, kind, very willing to listen and took all my questions. I felt very comfortable and so did my kitten.

Richard Loudon

We recently had our first visit to this establishment. The staff (receptionist, technician, and veterinarian) couldn't have been more compassionate, helpful, and friendly. They were all very professional and caring. We will be back with any future pet concerns.

Dr. Tom, Sharon, and the whole staff are amazing. They gave us an extra year with our beloved Shi tzu Sammy. When the time came for him to cross the rainbow bridge they were so compassionate. Since then they have cared for our two cats and two dogs whenever we need vet services. They even handle our cat who is seven pounds of claws and furry. Great prices and the walk in policy is fast and convenient. No appointment needed.

Great Brook is such a wonderful place to bring your animal family members. Dr. Tom is so compassionate and truly cares about the animals. I had to put one of my dogs to sleep and the staff couldn't have been more wonderful through such a difficult time and then I got a card in the mail in her memory. Dr. Tom doesn't push unnecessary procedures to make money. I have been to other vets in the past and Great Brook is very reasonably priced and the best care. The walk in hours are great too, there is no waiting months to get an appointment and you can make it after work or whatever time works best for you. I would recommend them to anyone who wants the best for their pets.

Verona Outerbridge

Outstanding, caring, professional, affordable, and very reasonably priced. We've used Great Brook for our five pets for the past five years, and will never go anywhere else. So many vets look for ways to just charge you up to the maximum; Dr. Tom never has, and has been straightforward, honest, and interested in taking care of our pets primarily.

Steven Chaski

So thankful to have Dr. Tom, Sharon and everyone who works there care for my two dogs. They even allow us to come in for visits to sit in the waiting room just to socialize one of my shy dogs. I see other reviews that mention the cost of care, but that should be expected when you have a pet. One of my dogs had an issue with a gland in his neck. He was given medication and it went away. A few months later it happened again so I brought him back. They charged a smaller fee since it was a reoccurrence, which I appreciated. If you're worried about the cost of treating your pet, be a responsible owner and have savings available and/or get pet insurance. Having two large, intimidating-looking GSDs, I'm wary of people who do not know them as I think they will assume they are aggressive. Dr. Tom and his staff never treated then as a threat and have always been kind and gentle. Dr. Tom is very much an animal person, and may come off as standoff-ish, but I think it's because he is so focused on the animal. Many doctors may not have the best bedside manner, but are great at what they do, which is treat your animal. Again, Dr. Tom has been nothing but kind to myself and my pets. He has never pushed for anything expensive and always provides ideas for inexpensive, at-home treatments for small issues. One of my dogs had an issue with itchy skin in the winter and he suggested a humidifier and coconut oil in his feed a well as a topical treatment. This worked fine and it was offered before any type of expensive treatment. I will always bring my pets to Great Brook and will recommend them to anyone who has a pet! Their walk-in hours are so helpful for people who work full-time and/or cannot wait for an appointment.

Took my dog in about a year ago becuaus she wasn't feeling good. They told me she had Lyme disease, gave me some pills to give to her. 6 month's later same thing my dog is not feeling good . She won't eat she didn't seem to be herself, I'm worried. Again they told me it's her Lyme disease here are some pills. 6moths later I'm at an emergency room vet hospital in Nashua with them telling me my dog has a giant mass in her belly. So big that it's bleeding and she will not live. Sadly we had to put her down. This is not the first time one of my dogs was missed diagnosed here or lack of follow through. 6 years ago my other dog was 9 weeks old and was throwing up and having diarrhea. The vet said give her hamburger and rice. They did not test her or do ant kind of blood work on her. After calling them a few days later they said the same thing, hamburger and rice. After calling the breeder she told me to go to her vet. This other vet knew the problem right off, did test and got my dog better. Had i not gone to this other vet my 9 week old puppy at the time would have died. I should have NEVER given great brook a 2nd chance for that cost me the life of my beloved Daisy.

I came home from work and my Bulldog could not get up, I was so scared. I called my Vet who I have been going to for a while and they told me they did not have anything open but could see my dog on Friday. I was so MAD it was Wed and my Dog could not walk and they wanted me to wait until Friday??? So I quickly got on line looking for a Vet and Found Great Brook Vet Clinic so I called. I have never been there before so I was afraid they would not see him. The VERY nice women picked up the phone (by this time I was in Tears) I told her what was going on and she said come on down we will be waiting for you. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Great Brook Vet Clinic!!! Dr Tom saw my Baby gave him some Meds and the next day he was walking around. Thank you so much I will never use any other Vet!

I had an emergency in July with my female chocolate Labrador retriever. It was right after the 4th of July. Let's just say the place was packed. It took 2 hours to see the vet. I was impressed with how they effectively took care of the 20+ dogs and cats, skipped their lunch break, and treated my poor pups hot spot and ear infection. I am grateful for the services of this small town vet.

First let me say that having recently moved, I brought all my dogs records with me to the vet, and gave them to the woman behind the desk. Then I sat down and waited for our turn. The woman was looking through the records and told me that my dog was due for her shots. I told her no, she's had her shots. Then the woman held up one of the pages of the records and said that it indicated that my dog was due for shots. And I told her, “No, she had her shots last October. Look at the other page.” Then she said, “Oh, I didn't see that.” I didn't say anything further, but I was thinking, “What the heck if I hadn't remembered exactly when my old dog had her shots, they would have given her another full round of unnecessary vaccinations.” Anyway, I brought my gentle rottweiler to Dr. Dowling because she had 2 large infected cysts on her back. I was hoping to get the cysts cleaned up, and bandaged, and have her put on antibiotics in preparation to surgically remove the cysts. My old dog has been to many vets in her long life and none have ever put a muzzle on her. She accepted it well. Three assistants came into the room to watch. Perhaps they were learning. They were kind and polite, but when Dr. Dowling came into the exam room he asked a few questions and then reached down and put his hand around one of her huge, obviously painfully infected cysts and squeezed it. My dog cried out in pain like she's never cried out before! Bloody puss squirted out all over the floor. “Yup, it's infected.” He said. He did not have to cause her more pain to come to that conclusion. He continued to talk to me with the pool of bloody puss between my sitting dog and my feet. One of the assistants tried to clean it up with a tissue. I got a tissue too and was trying to clean it up. Dr. Dowling seemed oblivious. He said he could set her up for surgery in a day. I was hesitant because she was so weak and hadn't eaten for a few days, and hadn't drank anything at all that day. Then Dr. Dowling said, “Or, you can live with THAT in your house.” Upset and confused, I quickly agreed to surgery the next day. I asked if she doesn't need antibiotics for the infection. Then he gave her a shot of penicillin. But he wouldn't have if I hadn't asked. He said they needed a Chem Screen so he needed to draw blood. I mentioned to him that usually they have trouble drawing blood from her due to scar tissue from previous treatments. He seemed determined to get blood in the first stick—my poor dog writhed in pain. When we left his office, they did not even clean off the bloody puss that he has squeezed. They did not even clean the cysts at all! She was a mess. I would have GLADLY paid right then and there for them to clean up those 2 infected cysts so I could have taken her home at least clean and bandaged! But by then I sort of in shock at what had just happened. On the way out they handed me a bill for $100.00 which would have been totally fine had they at least cleaned her up. They charged for the blood screen, penicillin shot, and a “pre-surgery exam”. There was no “pre-surgery exam”. All he did was half-squeeze one cyst and the tech listened to her heart. He did nothing else. No exam. They did not take her temperature, feel her belly, or anything that they usually do during an exam. When we left the office, my dog was in MUCH more pain than she was in before we saw Dr. Dowling. When we got home, she could not even get out of the car for half an hour. She just sat in the car panting with huge wide eyes. She was in pain. That's when I decided that I would NEVER bring her back to Dr. Dowling! I called and cancelled the surgery and told them that I would be down to get her records. I ended up bringing her to another vet clinic that cleaned her wounds and put her on antibiotics for a week before surgery. She is fine and healing now. Don't go to Dr. Dowling. That's just my opinion.
