The whole staff is excellent with the animals so that they're calm. We've never had out pets afraid of the doctors or the assistants. Everyone is calm and easy going which definitely rubs off on the animals. It's a wonderful atmosphere.

Our chihuahua Chip has been visiting Bedford Animal Hospital since we got him, he was 6 weeks old. The staff is already part of his family. They're not only excellent and competent professionals, but they're loving and caring. Chip went through surgery for his cherry eye, neutering and microchip and they kept us updated with photos and calls. They're always willing to listen and help, and very patient with mommy's worries. I couldn't think of a better place for my puppy to be taken care of and spoiled. I'm 100% certain Chip's in good hands every time I take him on a visit. I highly recommend it.

Found out via my mom that my dog stayed and boarded here for the weekend and apparently "forgot to feed her because they were short staffed". While I understand being short staffed, this should not mean that the dogs are neglected of their basic needs. Regardless my dog should have been fed and I have recommended that my mom never bring our dog back here for boarding. Absolutely do not recommend.

I having been taking my cats here for a couple of years now, and my dog since she became a part of our family. I could not be happier with the service and care that my animals have received here. When I call and say that I am "Josie's mom" they know exactly who I am (or at least, who Josie is). Dr. Watts is great with our cats as well, and clearly has amazing passion for he work and the animals she works with- and for doing the RIGHT thing for them and helping to guide pet parents to the right decision. I grew up in a small town and only had one vet for our family to take our pets to. They were so awesome, but I never realized how wonderful they were until we moved to Manchester in 1987. I brought my cats to several different vets when we first moved down here and was so unsatisfied. In 1989 we discovered the Bedford Animal Hospital and have never looked back, in fact they have exceeded my satisfaction I had from the vet that I took my cats to when I was growing up. The first asset of this facility is the loving and caring staff. They treat your pets as your family member. They have a great love for animals and it shows from the moment you walk into the office. I also never feel pressure that I need to have procedures done for my animals and if I chose not to have something done, they are supportive and respect my decisions. I have been coming to this facility for over 25 years so I have lost a few pets. All of the staff are absolutely wonderful as we grieved. In February, I knew my 19 year old cat needed to be put down. I called on a Saturday night, (knowing that they are closed on Sunday), asking to get an appointment to put her down on Monday. They told me I could take her to the emergency vet, but I told them I just couldn't have anyone else do this. Even though they were double booked, they found a spot on that Monday to bring her in. Every staff member is so compassionate and understanding in these difficult times. It is the hardest decision to make to put a family member down and the Bedford Animal Hospital has that understanding. The staff grieve with you when you lose your beloved pet and rejoice with you when you welcome a new member to your family. They are the best and I could not go anywhere else and feel this strongly about this wonderfully staffed facility. Thank you, Bedford Animal Hospital for all that you have done for us for over 25 years!! We love you!

This morning we took our dog here because he had an ear infection. We've been coming here for a few years and always had a good experience. Todays experience will cause us to never return. The veterinarian, William Sofield, had zero bedside manner with our dog (who was nervous and in pain), was extremely rough, and muzzled him (in his 5 years of life he's never needed a muzzle). After he muzzled our dog he tried shove a tool into his infected sore ear and when our dog flinched the vet hit my dog. He never took time to get on our dogs level and ease his nerves. That is the worst vet experience we have ever had and we will not be returning.

If you care about your pets health I would never go here. I brought my dog in at 8 weeks when I first got him and noticed pimples on his head. I was told not to be concerned and they sold me an oatmeal shampoo to use. The pimples we’re getting worse fast so I went back to the vet. They then told me he most likely has folliculitis and put him on antibiotics and a medicated shampoo. After 2 weeks of antibiotics and no progress I went back again and they said they didn’t know what was going on and were going to keep him on antibiotics. After this I took matters into my own hands. They never referred me to a dermatologist, or even mentioned that as an option, but I called across two states to find him one. Immediately after walking into the dermatologist they noticed a MASSIVE ear infection that was spreading to his paws and had his lymph noirs extremely swollen. 2 different vets at Bedford animal hospital looked at my puppy and stated he was fine, checked his ears and said they were fine. This infection was so bad it would’ve killed my puppy. Luckily thanks to a great dermatologist he is now on steroids and multiple ear medicines and on his way to being a healthy happy puppy. NEVER GO HERE.

My cat became inexplicably sick and Bedford animal hospital was able to see her immediately. The vet was very helpful and didn't recommend unnecessary services like other vets have in the past; she recognized that it was an old cat and we shouldn't be pressured into spending money on several diagnostic tests when we were unlikely to opt for surgery. The animal hospital was very considerate and flexible when we made a difficult choice and they gave us time to say goodbye. I would recommend Bedford animal hospital and would bring my other pets there in the future.

This was our vet for 2 years and we'd still be with them if we still lived in the Manchester area. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, they remembered our cat every time we came. The exams were done with a soft, but firm hand, to avoid scaring the animals, but still getting it done. They were available for a multitude of needs, from basic exams and grooming, to medications, teeth extraction, even gum lasering.

Did not feel that this place helped our dog at all. I paid good money for them to tell me my dog is in pain. Duh you think? I will never take my pet here again. They put her on medication that did not work. And when I called to ask about other medications that they could possibly put my baby on. There reply was "oh that's not possible ". 5 thumbs down...

Bedford Animal Hospital has been our only Vet for the 15 years we've lived in NH. We adopt senior rescues, and the docs have always been loving and compassionate throughout their lives. The practice is always available to us for questions and advice. The Vet Techs are beyond compare! I couldn't offer a higher recommendation!

I have been going here since 2000, when Dr. Devine graciously helped me with my dog Mica (a gentle soul who was a pet therapy dog and whom I still miss every day even though she passed in 2006). We live in Brookline, NH and there are literally a dozen veterinary centers that are closer to our home but we have been loyal to Bedford Animal Hospital for the compassionate care they have provided in the past. Several years ago, when our cat Piper developed recurring stones causing urethral strictures, Dr. Sofield successfully performed a cystourethrectomy on Piper that both saved his life and has given him a good quality of life (kudos to their former associate Megan Connelly, now at Lexington-Bedford Animal Hospital for the great care and love she provided for Piper during his long covalescence). That being said, Piper has developed over the last 10 months a progressively invasive brain tumor, with symptoms including repetitive sneezing fits, and bleeding from his right nostril. He was treated with multiple antibiotics and lysine without relief last spring, but it became clear that if Drs. Devine or Sofield were not available there was not much help to be offered by Dr. Watts or Dr. Kirby, forcing us to go to Advanced Veterinary Care in Manchester for not only emergencies like our German Shepherd's porcupine misadventure last March, but for routine things when Dr. Devine or Dr Sofield were not available. The last straw came yesterday, when it became quite apparent to me after being away from home for 10 days that Piper's tumor had grown significantly during the time I was away. As a physician, I often use dexamethasone to provide comfort and symptom relief for patient's suffering from brain tumors like glioblastomas etc.. Since the cat had been seen there 11 days prior on September 5 (along with our 2 dogs, and the total bill coming to over $800), I called up thinking that they would be willing to prescribe weight appropriate dexamethasone as part of compassionate care for cat, without having to drag him out as he is in the process of dying. Boy was I wrong. The DVM on call "did not feel comfortable" prescribing anything for an animal that she had not seen. The whole point of a group practice is to be able to cover each other's patients using sound clinical judgement based upon the particular problem involved, not a rigid policy based on a lack of thought, insight or compassion. Logically one can only conclude that the on call DVM is either a total incompetent ass or did not take the time to review the records, or the notes from the September 5, 2017 visit were so inadequate that they could not make a decision. Any of those options does not put Bedford Animal Hospital in a very good light. Moreover, as Piper was having similar symptoms on September 5, why did they not suggest dexamethasone then? If I did not have medical knowledge, the cat would have continued to suffer. We obtained dexamethasone, gave it to the cat and within 8 hours he was markedly more comfortable without sneezing fits or bleeding. Based on this series of events, we are changing veterinarians effective immediately. Draw your own conclusions.

Down to earth and well educated. Anything out of the norm that has come up with my dog, like when he threw his back out (who new a dog could do that) they knew a lot about treatment and care. I’ve known a lot of vets that don’t know much other than the day to day unfortunately (google something weird and quizzing yours). They offer a real approach, not fufu like Acupuncture or something. Reasonably priced appointments and discounts on item you can order from their website. Great vets all round.

I know there are schools of thought on the treatment of Lyme but (in hindsight) would have much preferred antibiotic treatment over none at time dog was tested positive; Dog developed symptoms about 6 months later and disease could not be reversed.

I never felt rushed and always had a good experience - even in the case of an emergency. Our GSDs have had surgery here with very good results. The prices paid for their services have been inline with other hospitals. It is also nice to have the grooming facility at the same office. I highly recommend this hospital. Update: I have been taking my dogs here for over 12yrs. All the vets, assistants and groomers are kind, helpful and very experienced. You could not find a better full service veterinary hospital.

DO NOT GO HERE. Our English bulldog puppy was killed while being neutered here. They called us during the procedure and said you need to come get your dog and bring him to a vet. My dad had to drive over and bring him to another vet, and he didn’t make it through the night. The next day my dad walked in and they said “are you here to pay your bill from yesterday?” They ended up paying us and the vet had to take a year long course. Do not recommend.
