REVIEWS OF Alpine Animal Clinic IN Montana

I have taken my 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 birds to Alpine Animal Clinic since they opened. My pets have received excellent care, from vaccinations to emergency life saving surgery to boarding. The staff provides highly professional care for the animals as well as the owners. They have been there for us during all hours of the day and night. I highly recommend Alpine Animal Clinic for outstanding veterinary care,

Marlene Rockwood

Best care for my fur babies! I love how all my questions are answered and they know my time is valuable! I love how they not only care for the animals but also the pet parents! The price you pay is definitly worth the cost to come here! Not only a quality place but a place of love and dignity!

I will never let these people near one of my dogs ever again. Heidi took out a lymph node instead of a retained testicle. To make matters worse she showed no remorse or distress over that mistake, and made no attempt to make things right, dispite being given more than one chance during follow-up appointments. She then decided that the testicle must be in his abdominal cavity since she didn't find it in his flank (our new vet removed it from his flank), which would have subjected my puppy to yet another abdominal surgery before he was 6 minths old (she had botched his neuter at the same time she repaired his umbilical hernia). She then pressured us to spay our female puppy after we told her we didn't want to spay her because we were considering breeding her. Never again will I use this clinic.

We are new in town and Alpine has made us feel welcome and helped with both our dogs this year. It's nice to find a vet that you are comfortable with and can trust when you are new to an area.

We recently celebrated the one year mark of NOT having our beloved dog euthanized at Alpine Animal Clinic and I feel compelled to write this review. I am writing it so that others will think twice when faced with an extremely difficult decision such as euthanasia. We took our dog to her regular vet at Alpine because she was very sick and the “diagnosis” (based on an ultrasound) was not good. We took her home and thought long and hard about what to do and decided that we would get a second opinion regarding her “diagnosis”. The second vet did an exam which also included an ultrasound and did not see the things on the ultrasound that the staff at Alpine saw. We were elated to say the least. Our dog is happier and healthier than she has ever been and we shudder to think how different things would be right now if we had listened to the vet at Alpine. If this review helps others to see the value of a second opinion, and if it saves just one pet’s life, then writing it was worth it. In response to Alpine’s comment: we chose to go with the ultrasound at your clinic as a first diagnostic tool, and one that was the least stressful for Joy, as a place to start. We then chose not to do further testing based on the vet’s report to us and her draconian diagnosis after the ultrasound was read and at that point decided to get another opinion. The vet we took Joy to for a second opinion did another ultrasound and some blood work so we’re not really sure what “recommended diagnostic studies” you are referring to. **It is now August of 2019 and we are happy to say that our beloved furry friend, Joy, is just as happy and healthy as ever!

Very friendly and they worked quickly and swiftly while checking my dog and seeing why she was sick

I am so impressed by the Alpine staff for their help and support with the death of my dog. It was a tragic accident that I witnessed and was very shook up. The staff helped me get her into a private room quickly and the vet was just as quick to arrive. They took care of making all the arrangements and even made a ceramic paw print for me. They were very comforting during a very tough time.

Many knowledgeable doctors who specialize in many different fields and the only CT scanner for pets in Helena. We use them for veterinary care as well as daycare for our pitbull who has separation anxiety. They absolutely treat our dogs like family.

Great people here, saved my dogs life after hours on a weekend! I wont go anywhere else! thank you Alpine!

There is nothing particularly wrong with this vet clinic, it is clean, friendly enough, and fast to get in... However, I didn't really feel like the level of care and attention was that great. Brought my dog in with a wound to find out it was a grass seed, the vet flushed it gave me some antibiotics and let me know that the seed was likely out since the two holes were leading to one another, but that it might not be... finish antibiotics, still doesn't look great so I take him back. The next vet suggest surgery, to which I am not completely comfortable with so I take more antibiotics and go home, that night I did a soak and luckily after all this time got the seed out myself.. What I'm most disappointed in is the lack of follow up, there was no call from the vet after surgery was suggested to even see how my dog was doing, or if i needed to come back. I am new here but any other vets I have gone to, I have had a courtesy call from the veterinarian to see how my dog is reacting to meds, how he is doing, etc.

I called and tried to take in my thirteen year old boxer who has gone downhill health wise in the last four days drastically. Because I did not come in last year for her 5 way vaccine ( that is not needed every year, according to my new vet, if they have had it yearly until ten years of age) they would not see her on short notice. They told me to try to feed her rice when she won't eat anything. How am I suppose to feed her rice when she refuses to even get up? They were more concerned about money then they were in my animals health.

My family has taken our dog to Alpine since she was a puppy to the very end. I've never met a more compassionate set of veterinarians. I love that they get on the floor with the dogs during exams, and take the time to explain everything while they take care of your pup. We've already brought our new pup a few times, and have been treated with the same compassion.

Dori Dillon

They always take great care of our animals.

I went in to get a 2nd opinion about my cats tumor. A complete waste of money. The lady looked at my cat, and did practically nothing else. And said that I should just put him down immediately. He's now been living for 4+ months now ( and living well mind you ). I wish there was a vet that cared in this town, because I know something could have been done about my cat, but both vets I went to acted as if they dont care, and told me to just let my cat die basically. He's STILL GOING 4 MONTHS AFTER BEING DIAGNOSED TO DIE! too bad no one was willing to help him. I forever will never respect this vet, or the other vet that i went to, I will write this review there too. I wish someone cared...

I can't say enough good things about this clinic! Are Thor dog was diagnosed at 3 years old with cancer in his right hip... The prognosis was slim to nothing and we couldn't get anybody where we live, to operate. I called everywhere and I cried and I cried cuz I knew every day that I waited was another day it might get worse and we might lose him altogether.. I'm a realist I knew that taking Leg wouldn't necessarily give him more life or a longer life... But it would give him more time where he was in less pain. And he didn't want to die she was just in pain. Dr. Wampler Took on the challenge... no hesitations.. she took my puppy's leg and he is happier than he's been in the last 3 months... They took care of him like he was their own.. it was all I could have ever asked for. They understood completely why I wanted to give him more time, good time, quality time... And he is doing wonderful....! we are 5 days post op and he is the happy and vibrant Akita that he was before he got sick. He is actually happier because he's not in pain. We haven't gotten the pathology results back yet so we don't know yet if it's a cancer that's treatable or how much time we have... But we have time and we have good time and that's all that matters. And I am thankful for the Alpine Animal Clinic and Dr. Wampler for giving this to our family this time with our fur baby Thor. Thank you so much! The Nelson family :)

the receptionist "Ritien" is very rude and unprofessional. Only part about alpine I don't like! Other than her the staff is great!

Dr. Wampler and everyone else at Alpine Animal Clinic are absolutly amazing. I routinely take my pets to Alpine for care, but they were truly exceptional after I had to make an after hours emergency call for my cat. Dr. Wampler mer me at two am and was veru compationate and professional. My cat had to have surgery to repair her leg, and later amputated. It was too shattered to save. Above and beyond the exceptional care they provided for my cat, they also provides our family exceptional suport. I can not express how grateful I am for everything they did for us. Rebekah Giskaas

Thank you so much Dr. Ryan for taking care of Garfield we felt at home there and not just as if we were patients Garfield was in great hands at Alpine

I took all 3 of my dogs in to be vaccinated and up to date on their shots, after all was said and done it cost almost $500, than they refused to give them the flu vaccine that the dog boarding kennel required. So went to Bridger, and was so happy, the vet. their was smart, answered all my questions and half the cost of Alpine

The vet we've had for almost 2 decades recently sold her practice so we were in-between veterinarians as we didn't get a good feeling from the new owner of the practice. My 18 year old cow dog had an emergency, right before the 4th of July weekend of course. Dr. Wampler got her in same day! We were so relieved! Dr. Wampler and her team were so kind and gentle with my poor old dog, it just made me tear up! We'll be back! Thank you sooooooo much!!!!!!

This is the best animal clinic I have been to in my 40 years of having pets. The vets are kind and knowledgeable. Our dogs have been treated as if they were the only patient. The front desk and tech staff are awesome too. When we had to send our 2 senior dogs on their journey to the Rainbow Bridge last year, the entire staff grieved with us. We recently adopted a senior from our animal shelter and they welcomed Abbie into their family. Dr. Davis was so good with her and put her a regimen of medications to tune her up and give her a chance at a much longer life. The best thing is our dogs likegoing to see the vets.

Devin Healy

We take our animals here. I like that they have boarding facilities in addition to the veterinary care. The care our puppy received while recovering from a broken leg was top notch.

Easy, affordable and comfortable. We had our Havanese there for one day of day-care. Check in was easy...the usual forms and, of course, we showed them our vaccination paperwork as we're from out of town. The price for a day was about half what we've found around the country. Very nice service and gentle, caring staff.

I boarded my small dog here while I went out of town. She also received her rabies and other vaccines for an agreed upon cost, which I paid up front. When I returned to pick her up, I was billed for an exam as well, which had not been agreed upon or I would have also paid for that at her drop off. First of all, this is a bad business practice. In fact, to my mind, very close to fraud. If they could bill me for the boarding and vaccines up front, they could have done so for the exam. But that would have given me the opportunity to object or to discuss their pricing. Doing it this way, they had complete control over the hidden additional fee. Second, I am almost absolutely certain that my dog was not examined. Why? Because she has seen good vets all her life with exceptional educations from the University of Georgia and Purdue veterinary schools and they have each and every one of them made note of certain characteristics/health issues. This vet? Hell no. Nothing. Nada. Not a peep. Not a single note. So I’m pretty sure she was never examined, just injected by veterinarian assistants. The staff that I dealt with personally (never the vet) were very polite and friendly and my dog liked them. My dog was returned to me safe and in good condition. I’m grateful for that, but I still feel hoodwinked by the way the business end of this was handled. I would not recommend this business for veterinary services, because of the above noted practices. I would recommend it as a kennel if and only if the customer feels savvy enough to hold their own in negotiating services or can afford to absorb the costs of being duped. And really, that's my biggest problem here. I feel this business is dishonest, and dishonest in such a way that the customer has no recourse. In the future, I will be seeking recommendations for an alternative for both boarding and veterinary services.

We take our dog to alpine and see Dr. Merry. Our dog Monte is one of the most important things in our life, he is a member of our family and means the world to our kids. I wouldn’t trust him to anyone else. Dr. Merry is so kind and patient. The staff is positive and helpful...I would recommend them to anyone. I find their prices reasonable and never feel pressured into anything...thank you alpine for taking care of our special boy!

My little dog Carmen ran off one morning before breakfast into the mountains by our house. Panicked, I had my whole family out looking for her. My son found her two hours later, stuck in a hunting trap with her whole back and butt DE gloved of skin. I had never seen a wound so bad on a dog and having it still be alive. Carmen must of either got attacked by a coyote or a bobcat, guessing from the bite marks she received. I was afraid she also had a broken leg from the trap. I wrapped her in a blanket and headed to town, calling Alpine Clinic on the way. Dr. Wampler meet me at the clinic door and took us right back even though it was before business hours. She was amazing, calming me down and handling my poor Carmen with tenderness. Dr. Wampler explained that Carmen was in shock and would need surgery but not until Carmen was stabilized. She allowed me to stay with my dog until I calmed down and felt that maybe Carmen had a chance of surviving her horrendous wounds. I am happy to report that Carmen made a complete recovery and it was all possible because of Dr. Wampler’s amazing ability. Carmen just needed months of recovery. Thank you Alpine for giving back my little girl! The staff was top notch!!! No more mountain adventures for Carmen unless accompanied by me!

We are from Butte, and we were dropping our dogs off in Helena to stay with my girlfriends dad before we went to Glacier. Our 9 month old Airedale cut himself in the backyard, and we called Alpine Animal Clinic. It was obvious our dog was in pain and needed stitches. We called Alpine Animal Clinic, as my girlfriend’s dad has been taking his dogs there for many years and completely trusts them. He had said nothing but positive things about you guys, and you were the first number he suggested we call. After calling Alpine Animal Clinic and explaining what had happened (both my girlfriend, her dad, and I were very worried), we were put on hold. Once off hold, we had been transferred to someone else who, first thing out of her mouth, says “are we the first people you’ve called?” She then went on to state that we should try calling around to other places and that they “were completely booked with appointments.” She ended with “if nobody else can do it, you can bring him in.” That was the end of the conversation. Not once did they recognize how worried we were. Not once did they make us feel any less worried and scared about the situation. Not only did we feel that our injured dog was not a priority, we felt he was an inconvenience to this clinic. We are all so disappointed with how they handled this emergency situation. Needless to say, we (including my girlfriend’s dad) will never be visiting this clinic. We will not recommend them to anyone, especially those in an emergency situation similar to the one we were in.

We and our plethora of fur babies love Alpine! Competent and friendly staff, from the front desk, to the docs and vet techs! Highly recommended!!

Alpine Animal Clinic is the best! I've been taking my dog and cats to Dr. Wampler since 2008 and have developed a wonderful rapport with her concerning my pets' health. My 18 year old cat, who was diagnosed with diabetes 9 years ago, is now in remission. I attribute this largely to their expertise and helping me manage this disease. All the doctors and staff are wonderful--thanks AAC!!! With gratitude, Debbie, Mojo, Monty, and Teddy

I had a terrible experience here. Staff is rude. They are way over priced! It should never cost$100.00 for annual shots! Never again!

Alana Cunningham

Alpine Animal Clinic is reasonably priced, with amazing care. I love bringing my lab to Dr. Henry Ford. She is the best! Alpine has been there for me in emergencies, and making sure my furry baby is okay.

I had an overnight trip to Helena and didn't know what to do with my puppy for the night. I discovered Alpine and decided to take a chance. Not only were they very affordable, they took great care of my pup! He was in great spirits when I picked him up!. The staff was friendly and caring! Side note: when I was leaving an elder woman had just had to put her animal down (I'm not sure if it was a dog or cat) I watched the staff with her, they hugged her and sat with her very caring and patiently. :)

We were lucky to have our dogs taken care by the knowledge staff at Alpine Animal Clinic. We had to put our dear little dog to sleep after old age, poor eyesight and my heart was broken. The staff at the Clinic had tears in their eyes and offered a hug as I was saying goodbye to my little friend. Within two years we had to put our Large dog down. We called Alpine Animal Clinic and they came to our home and put her to sleep. Our hearts were broken but both times they made paw print s so we could have memories of them and remember what wonderful family members they were. As time past we received a 8 week old Boston Terrier and he is the life of our family. We always travel with him and we know he is healthy and will cared for because of the treatment and knowledge that Alpine Clinic Provides. We have the office number on our cell phones and no matter where we travel they are only one call away - someone always answers the phone no matter the time it is. We have traveled the Pacific coast and Tux always with us. Thank you Alpine Animal Clinic for taking such great care of our little friend any being up to date with all the knowledge and procedures You have to know to take wonderful care of all The animals and birds that you see. The only Clinic in Helena MT is Alpine Animal Clinic for great care!!
