This Veterinarian is included in the category of Veterans hospital.
The people in the cardiovascular department should have a caring heart to work in that department. However, this was not my experience.
Second visit, so far nice people but havent been really given the welcome wagon.
Went with my daughter to simply transfer her into the J.B. system from OK.C. back to STL. The first person she dealt with refused and denied the already existing benefits and disability with her service connected situation. It took the supervisor to remove her and her paperwork to simply do what was being asked. After being there for a absolutely disrespectful and useless 45min. Finally, it took the supervisor 10min to complete the entire situation and got her set up with not only the VA. itself but also the women's care for her pregnancy issues. They seriously need to clean house and hire some qualified and honorable people who can and will help and support the men and women who have earned and sacrificed enough to at the least be treated like the outstanding people to witch they are. It was once again a total disappointment at the least. Being treated that way myself for many years is one thing but, my daughter that was totally unacceptable. This is exactly why many of us have a bad opinion and dread going to this facility.

I can not even give this person one star, but you have to give at least one. Karen Ferguson, Nurse Manager for the GI Lab is the most arrogant, lying and disrespectful person that I have ever came upon in the VA system. She should not be allowed to be involved with veterans. John Cochran VA Hospital must have been scraping the bottom of the barrel to make this person a manager.
There phone system is terrible. Usually no one in a department is there to answer the phone. It takes several calls to get through to an appointment. The switchboard can take up to 5 minutes to answer the phone. And while I requested the O'Fallon clinic, they transferred me to the North County clinic repeatedly. Other times, they have transferred me to physician break rooms. I wanted the pain management clinic another time and was repeated sent to a menu asking which psychiatric clinic I was calling. I wound up mailing a letter to the doctor requesting an appointment. Today I called telling the switchboard this was for an ortho follow-up appointment While the switchboard answered reasonably and they transferred me and the phone rang for quite a while. Then the switchboard answered asking for what I was holding then the phone rang for several minutes and I got a recording and menu. I entered the menu selection. Then after a couple more minutes was asked to leave my name and phone number (so we can play telephone tag).
If you have had terrible service please call Senator Wm. Lacy Clay's office and let them know, they need to be notified. After taking my Father to the hospital for surgery, they had no record of him on the schedule for the next day. After waiting all day with nothing to eat or drink they finally informed him at 3pm that it would not happen that day and they would have to see when they could do the surgery. 5 days later, he had surgery. The day of surgery I called on the phone to the OR staff after hours of no updates and was told he was in Recovery. 2 hours later after that with still no update they told me he was still in surgery?? No one knows what is going on and they have a lack of compassion for anyone :( 2 hours later we went to his room and he was in sever pain by himself shaking. The MD or the transporter who told us they would get us never came to tell us or speak with us. This place is REPULSIVE to our Veterans!!
Do not know who is in their own department
I had surgery done here. While I was a little worried, the staff ensured me everything would be okay. Everyone was professional and kind. Shift changes were perfect and I had some of the best nurses taking care of me during my recovery. Vida I can't thank you enough.

Based on the extremely special level of care my whole family came away feeling they received during my husband’s stay @ John Cochran V.A. Hospital this past Friday we believe that we have more than enough evidence that should prove to any Veteran that may find themselves in need of receiving similar medical treatment from both the medical personnel and employees alike that we came in contact with that they will eventually feel as we do now…..Because ”specialized” care at John Cochran includes caring for not only the Veteran, but also the Veterans family if need be….It certainly did for us...And, after what we experienced from the joint effort seemingly made by so many to address however they could whatever issue had an effect on his care and that of his family….I can’t believe that anyone would come away not feeling how awesome the medical care they received from having a whole team of Cardiologists who actually choose to spend the time it takes to answer questions like Dr.Krittpoom chose to do. And, don’t even get me started talking about how amazing we felt about the care that we were given by the greatest group of people who work in the Progressive Care Unit…. Because, not only did they monitor my husband's heath condition 24/7, Lisa Fields, Willie Welch, Walter Govan and Lisa Gregory also ended up responding to the medical needs of our Son when they took a frightening turn to needing them assesed ….. And, even tho the panic was brief, those, are some of the memories that will bring a tear to my eye for some time….That's why a very special thanks goes out to Lisa Fields and Mim for choosing to check on my son and I thru the nite just to offer help or an ear to listen… it meant more than I have to give to help prove how much….Also, a special thanks goes out to Kathy Kahre and a nurse on the 4th floor named Turner for their considerations towards us as well...And, last but not least even tho I didn’t catch her name…..A big thank you to the lady cafeteria employee who helped my Son, Bobby and I by offering what I consider ….”words of wisdom”.... I’m gonna try to apply them to my life….ALL of your choices to go above the call of your duties….made a hard time easier to handle... Robert,Vicki and Bobby Rady :)
I am disgusted at how Vets are treated both at JC and JB in Missouri. What a joke to be seen by any of the doctors. They are the most unprofessional group of doctors and staff I have ever seen. In the ER the nurses were joking and running around spanking each other. It just pleases me to know that my service to my country gave them jobs. They are a disgrace and disgusting to me representing any of us. 99% percent of them don't speak English and the ones that do speak English can never be of assistance to the Veteran. I am just disgusted with their lack of respect and the fact that the ones servicing us have never served our country.
I have been to the ER and I have dealt with st Charles CBOC and Jefferson Barracks but yet I don't have one bad thing to say about the VA Healthcare in St. Louis, Missouri. They are wonderful people and the provide a great service. There has been a few times I couldn't get an appointment within 30 days but that us way the have the choice program.
The doctors and nurses are 5 STARS. The administrators are absolutely horrible and anti-veteran.
Excellent staff. Cardiology department excellent. Nurses were wonderful and efficient. Doctors and Nurses very attentive and skilled. The rooms are small and there is very little space for family. The Fisher House is available for family living 50 miles or further. The rooms were not as clean as should be (i.e. corners. Daily mopping etc.)
I have no words to describe the features of this hospital. I want to recommend this hospital to needy one as here everyone is totally committed to patient care and rehabilitation.
I've always received great care here. Many of the specialists are fellows from Washington University School of Medicine.
My husband had surgery for his heart May 29. 2019. All staff were 90% friendly. I stayed at the Fishers House during his overnight stay. I can't say anything bad about this place. The only thing I saw was it outdated, but thanks to our government, it seems most all Veterans hospital is outdated. Our veterans are very important and risk their lives for our Country but I'm glad to see that they are taking their health in corncern.
Have had several surgery done here and have nothing but high praise for every one that works here .If you have a problem they do have a hr officer that will help
they took great care of my father in law!
My dad has been coming here for the last couple of months and was diagnosed with lymphoma. Doctors are great! Service is wonderful. Everyone is so kind and thoughtful to our service men and women. The doctors collaborate and discuss treatments plans. I'm VERY pleased with the level of care they have provided.
The ER at this hospital is a joke. About 2 years ago I went to the ER because of numbness in my arms and legs and was unable to walk without help or holding on to something. The first ER ordered an MRI and said I would be staying with them for a while. Then the shift changed and the new ER doctor said there was nothing wrong with me and he was sending me home. I told him I wasn't going home but was going to sleep in the waiting room and tomorrow would see another doctor and the hospital administrator and they had better find nothing wrong with me or he was in trouble. He then decided to admit me after all. The next morning there was a team of neurosurgeons around my bed telling me it was a good thing I came in when I did because I had a serious problem with the spinal cord in my neck and needed immediate surgery or I would be paralyzed from the neck down in less a month. I had the surgery and now I'm at least 90 percent better.
Showed up to the ER about 1515. About 1630, someone finally came and took me back to get my vitals. I went to the VA for my right thumb and hand swollen. They sent me right after to get a few x-rays done. After x-rays, they sent me back to the ER waiting room. There, I sat for 4 hours before they ever took me back. Once in the back, I waited another 45 minutes before the doctor ever seem me. They never showed me the results from the x-rays. All they told me was nothing was broken. They gave me a shot of trumadol for the pain. I sat around for another 2 hours waiting for the RNs to get done talking about who they had picked for their fantasy football league before I got my discharge papers. Now, the next morning I'm back in a local hospital and in 10 minutes, they've gotten me in the back and are determining what is going on with my hand.
(CNN) -- A Missouri VA hospital is under fire because it may have exposed more than 1,800 veterans to life-threatening diseases such as hepatitis and HIV. John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis has recently mailed letters to 1,812 veterans telling them they could contract hepatitis B, hepatitis C and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) after visiting the medical center for dental work, said Rep. Russ Carnahan.
This place is a complete JOKE! The staff are rude, the patient wait times are inexcusable, and the system in place for the Emergency Department is as useless as it is dated. 12 hour patient wait times (without taking interval vitals on legitimately sick patients) are inexcusable by any measure. The location is right in the middle of the hood (saw a guy get maced 30 ft from the ED), the complacency runs rampant and their excuse is that they are understaffed due to budget cuts. I sat in the ER waiting room for 6 hours without rhyme or reason before giving up and leaving. I would have informed the registration desk, but nobody was present (she was smoking outside while the desk remained unattended). Their triage system is remarkably flawed, as it took almost a 1/2 an hour to see anyone with a medical background. I would never go back there again, nor should you or your loved ones.
Waited 10 hours for a lab and ultrasound at the ER after being instructed to by my primary care nurse in Michigan. It seemed like an extremely slow night , and the doctors and several nurses were shocked when I told them how long I had waited, but provided no remedy to the wait before, during, or after or for the overall lethargy and apathy of the staff. Doctors noted symptoms that I had, but everything turned out "normal", no diagnosis provided. Not sure why, but I'm not curious enough to go back to this VA clinic.
They have a shuttle service that to the other VA Facilities. Shards of glass were in mleft food, the "Doctor," used tweasers to get it out.
Were sitting here in the emergency room. Three people in the waiting room. No ambulances have pulled up. No other people have come in. Yet it takes over an hour for my son to get calledd back. Well they finally call him back. He has been sitting back there for an hour by hinself waiting. This is government health care at its best. If our Congress And State Senators are so concerned they should get all there health care through the VA. There is no reason for this.
Carreers at VA hosptial,
The worst
I have never had any problems and have always been treated fairly.I thank god every day for the VA.God bless America.
Haven't had the chance to see my doctor in over a year. Can't even schedule an appointment because apparently calendars aren't a thing. Long waits, low quality care, basically just the VA in a nutshell.
I've been trying to get an appointment for months at the North County CBOC. I am way over due for my yearly physical and I have some problems that I need to get looked into. Apparently my doctor retired with either no notice, or VA just didn't deem it necessary to call their patients and forewarn them. They finally scheduled me for an appointment last week at 9:00 AM. At 10:15 AM I couldn't wait any longer, I had class in 45 minutes and still had to go home first. The receptionist told me that the doctor was late getting in. Why the doctor was over an hour late is beyond me. There is no professionalism with this system. Now that I'm trying to get a reschedule, they are telling me the same bullshit from before. Yet again, I can not get an appointment with any doctor, because I don't have one. Why does it take months to find a replacement doctor? This is why Veterans die from illness or commit suicide while waiting for an appointment. We can not get the attention that we need.
I haven't been to this hospital yet but the people on the phone are unprofessional and have bad attitudes.
Pretty sad a vet and his wife get put out on the streets due to lack of information, and would not see the wife because she was not a veteran. They did not even give him the scan he needed for his head. Thank God he didn't have brain damage. After all that, they suggested the pregnant wife stay out on the streets while he went to Jefferson Barracks to seek psychiatric care that he did not need. She had broken ribs, a broke nose, and a craked spine. He had a broken knee, fractured jaw bone near the eye, and a possible broke hand. Could see either one though after getting into a fight with 6 crack addicts.
Moved from Nashville. Took a year to get a doc assigned and discuss getting consults with clinics for continuing same care I was getting before. Electronic records? Hit and miss at what carried over, at best. In Nashville, I was seeing Ortho surgeon for my knees. Here, they said I had to see PT before Ortho (starting from scratch). I went to PT, and then demanded to see Ortho. One consult recently went to the wrong clinic at the wrong facility just because one word wasn't used. Luckily, I caught in from a note they made on my appointment notice. The new program (Veterans Choice) to go off site if your appointment is over 30 days out? From my experience, they get around that by taking 30 days to send you notice of an appointment. I got one notice 2 days before the actual appointment. But if they do issue an appointment 30 days or more away, you have to contact them to coordinate approval for the caregiver you want to see. Good luck with that, if it's anything like trying to get something done on the phone for the other clinics. I see an intern, not a VA doc... a nice guy, but it means there are delays while he has to get his supervising doc to translate how the orders have to be put in the system in "VA-ese". Valet parking? Puh-leez... I pull it into the lot, and they usually only move it a few yards. When I come out, they point me to where it is so I can go get it and go. I asked about self parking several times at the front INFO desk, and was finally told that you have to cross Grand to some big parking lot, half of which is reserved for valet parking. Fun if you have trouble walking. Once I found the valet ticket that's supposed to be in the front window lying in the back seat, along with the blanket we keep in the car, and someone's body odor. I guess my tinted rear windows made it a good spot for a nap.
I have received only the most professional and compassionate care from the VA. My recent surgery and hospitalization at John Cochran far exceeded my expectations in every respect. I thank and am grateful to Dr. Bishnu Devkota who discovered my abdominal aortic aneurysm and Dr. Emad Zachary who repaired it. Kudos also to the surgery and ICU teams who assisted.
As a former patient and employee, I can assure you, in my experiences and observations, that the politics usually come first. It is the Government. The do the best they can with what they have. Tell any employee you will be having a conversation with the Honorable Ms. McCaskill...or WORSE...That you will be writing the Under Secretary of Veterans Affairs and JCAHO (Joint Committee for the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations about any negative experiences! Boy, will you ever see some action! You should do this wherever you seek care. Look into some of the AC vents in the bathrooms, ask to see water quality reports, etc. You are there because you have earned the privilege of the best care possible for your sacrifice. I, personally have had 50/50 luck there. When the care was good, it was outstanding, but when it was bad, it was deplorable. Urology, Radiation, the 2 ICU's, primary care, and several others were all top notch! My inpatient stays in the wards were disgusting with near complete neglect. I witnessed effort within budget constraints, but some was patchwork at best. Take from this what you will there, and anywhere you go. Remember, whether your blood or insurance gets you care, it is still your blood, money and care. Respect to all the VETS. Semper Fidelis...Semper Paratus...Semper Vigilans.
Poor service. Wait time in emergency dept is over 12 hours. When the doctors don't know how to handle a problem, they will send the patient home just to come back the next day and be admitted. Patient should have been admitted the same day he arrived in the emergency dept. I feel for our disabled vets. SAD
I've been regularly going to the John Cochran VA med center for 10 years. It's a no frills hospital, and takes a while to learn how to navigate the system. However, I've always received top notch care there. Most of the doctors and nurses really care about the vets they are serving. The parking can be somewhat of a hassle, as they have limited space. They do offer valet parking which is sufficient, but be prepared to wait a while for your car during busy hours. There is a free parking lot across Grand, but is usually full by about 9 am. You will have to cross 2 streets to walk from the lot to the hospital. Parking on the street is also available, but it does cost. The street parking is owned by St Louis city, and the meters take cash and plastic. The desk staff are generally friendly, although they wear a 'gruff' exterior. Usually a friendly "Good Morning" will bring out a smile. Some advice: Show up early and plan plenty of time after your appointment to get your car (if you valeted). Keep in mind that this isn't a luxury hospital, it's government funded.
I wish I could give this place a negative! I have had my mental health appt canceled on me 5 TIMES! 5 FREAKING TIMES and I am way past my 30 day. What kind of place is this?! They wont fill my meds because I need to see the doctor but they wont keep a damn appt. Then they say you can come in and wait around til someone can see you. Are you kidding me? I hate this place I can't stand it but unfortunately this is the insurance I have to deal with because I am a veteran. Screw you John Cochran
ZERO STARS IF I COULD The VA healthcare system is so broke that it's not even funny. The wait times, quality of information, and endless tree of phone number rabbit holes are next to unspeakable. I am incredibly lucky that I have great private insurance that I can choose to rely on instead of the VA. However, it is absolutely DISTURBING to think that there are veterans who are seriously messed up from war and have no other choice but to rely on the VA to get care. I was sent to the 'main mental health office' at Jefferson Barracks for mental health care. I was given a consult by a nurse practitioner. Not a psychiatrist. Okay, I can swallow that. Then I was told that it might be a while to get into a psychologist, because there are THREE clinical counseling psychologists on staff for over 5000 veterans!! I literally could not believe that. Again, I cannot even imagine the lives of traumatized veterans that are absolutely miserable because they cannot get proper and timely care. Mental health, of all departments, should be stocked and ready to go. It has been several weeks since my initial consult, and I still have not been able to even schedule an appointment with a psychologist. Every time I try to get connected with a particular person or office, I get sent to the wrong place. Half of those times, I am transferred to an endless ring tone that doesn't even lead to an answering machine. This is the best example. My primary care doctor put in for me to see a chiropractor. Then I waited a week until I decided to call the chiro office myself. The chiro office then 'put in' for the Choice Program because they didn't have any availability (no surprise). I called 3 days later, and the choice office had never received notice from the chiro office. I called the chiro office again. They finally got through to the choice program, who then called me to tell me that the CP was no longer available and that I would need to get set up with 'community care'. BUT, I would have to go back to my primary care doctor to get approval for 'community care' with a chiropractor. I had that done. A week later, I call to try to get scheduled. I am told that I have the consult put in and everything is ready to go, but there is no 'authorization number' for the outside provider to get paid. I asked why or what has to happen, and nothing. You just wait. I have been trying to get scheduled to see a chiropractor for over a month now. Who knows how long the wait would be after actually making the first step of getting set up and scheduled. This is for basic care. I can't imagine how terrible the situation is for veterans who REALLY NEED HELP AND NOW. I am disappointed by our government's neglect of veterans. I am without words. I am happy that I am well off enough to have a good job and great private insurance, and I feel for the men and women who have it much worse due to their service to our country, and now have to rely on the VA to help them live the best life that they can. Beyond disturbing. Hopefully there is a better future for all of us, because these priorities are clearly screwed up. It is no wonder there are so many unhappy and unstable people in America. Our healthcare does not prioritize happy and healthy people. And the Saint Louis VA takes the clear lead there. Sad.
I think as a Veteran that the personnel in administration, Particularly Mr. Holly, who assisted me with a problem and was instrumental in solving my dilemma. I was a patient for almost two years In the St. Louis Medical VA center. I had a stay at Jefferson Barracks with my left leg amputation. Bldg 53 needs to have major work done to eliminate the rodents that travel from room to room. The staff is apprized of it!! Yet is continues to happen. Mice run in the walls from one A/C unit to another cause the caulking around the pipes is inadequate!!! Here is a Veterans Hospital that is aware of the disease ridden vermin, One staff member buys from his own pocket, strips of glue that are designed to catch them and puts them under the A/C unit if a patient complains. The head nurse in charge of the second floor is aware of it and they reply well we have a pesticide company that is responsible for the removal, yet the government pays for a service to remove these and any other Bugs like spiders that can be found in dark corners especially in the showers, and does not really care!!!! When I was discharged in August of 2013 I went to the Directors office and spoke with a woman that was acting Director at the time,. I spent over an hour of her time giving her a list in detail of problems that patients face daily that I noticed in my 6 month hospital stay. She had taken 4 pages of notes and assured me that she would look into my complaints and give me a response in writing as to her plan and what remedies were taken to correct them because I asked her if she would do that. I left St. Louis in February 2014. I never received any feedback on any of the long list of deficiencies I gave her. I have had 29 surgeries over the past 30 years in many Navy, Army and veterans hospitals. I have to say that East orange, NJ is the worst on my list and St. Louis is second on the list of worst places to be a patient. Columbia, SC was one of the better along with The West palm beach Va hospital. I know that no one is going to not find fault with services at any hospital, But for Veterans like myself who are seasoned patients that know what to expect when receiving medical Treatment, This is a sad state of affairs at those two hospitals. I think that the Inspector General in Washington should have surprise inspections that are unannounced and are started at different shifts so the staff can be evaluated as it really is and not make preparations for a week or so in advance so they can get a good grade!!! Our Veterans deserve better care!!!!!
Ok so coming from Hampton VA in Virginia. This place isn't all that bad. As far as the ER I haven't been there cause it's too far to drive. But the one in Virginia was good. The pcp in Virginia sucked butt and literally would not see you but every 6 months. Even if you were sick and went through the ER. Even when the director got involved. Before that I did have a good pcp but he quit his job so I ended up getting a lazy one. And getting an appointment for PT, Ortho, or anything always took so long.... Anyway I moved here in December of 2015 and I went to JB to get a PCP. They couldn't get me in for months. They told me to call the Manchester clinic so I did. They got me in within 2 weeks. The front desk staff is great, The nurses are great too. Dr. Deady is amazing and very thorough. She listens to how you feel and does her best to make you feel better. She even had asked me a few times if I wanted to switch pcp's to JB because the drive was shorter and that she didn't mind and I flat out said no because I run the risk of not getting a good doctor. Anyway the PTSD clinic at JB dropped the ball and confused me. So I told her what was going on and she made some calls to get the ball going again. which she didn't have to do. As far as everything else. It's great. Have to have a few xrays, mri's and other things needing to be done and I was able to get appointments right away. They literally called me the same day to schedule. Also the GI doctor is great and I got an appt very fast. So far good. I didn't rate a 5 star because of the PTSD clinic dropping the ball which I flat out said from the begining that I didn't want that to happen. But other than that. It's all good
General government employee efforts to your problem
The service that my brother-in-law got from the John Cochran M-ICU medical staff and the 7 South medical staff was excellent.
An Emergency Room visit on a Saturday. The ER Doctor was amazing. The Nephrologist from Barnes Barnes Hospital stepped in and made it all better. The Patient Advocate Offices need to be Advocates for the Veterans and not a PR extension for the Administration.
My experiences with the VA here in St. Louis will change and yours will also. Thanks to President Trump for signing the "MISSION ACT" on June 6th 2018. Your health care will improve with the "PRIVATATION BILL." A BILL we needed many years ago. This could help improve "Your Choice" of "YOUR CARE."
Been there several times for treatment, the daytime receptionist are disconnected and borderline rude. However my doctors and nurses were actually very nice and I receive fair treatment there and on occasion it was outstanding care. I'm reading a lot of seriously negative revues covering this facility and it scares me into thinking maybe there is a real problem. It can be turned around, so I'm going to keep a watch on reports covering the VA in St. Louis MO. Maybe they need a new staff with a positive culture. It is work to redevelop a healthy culture in the work place, it takes leadership, and it will take brutal honesty to get that buy in. It's not about knowing your job as much as it is the passion and effectiveness. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should be a medical care employee. You got to want to be! Think about that.
Ma'am (Cynthia H.), I have never or maybe I have forgotten a warm welcome until today. It was great from entering in the medical building up to speaking with you. I just wanted to thank you and the entire place for the courtesy, the speed process of helping me with healthcare, and finally the atmosphere was great.
I was in so much pain when I arrived and they immediately moved me to the er and took great care of me. All the doctors and nurses were very nice and actually cared about me.
St. Louis VA is garbage!
Parking was great and the appointment was on time
I was in Saint Louis V. A. Hosipital January 24 25 2018 for prostate surgary I want to thank the doctor and all staff that I was with. They did a great job all help at the hosipital were great to work with great facility.
They turn off the light at the emergency check in and go to sleep!! There is a sign on the window for people to knock on the glass. And why does it take so long for them to get to my dad? There is nobody even here.
I once read Dante's inferno. It is the closest thing I can find to describe a trip John chocran medical center. I call the Emergency room "the brick wall". Because you ain't going anywhere past it. If you have a limb ripped off you still ain't getting by. They will dope you up until your delirious and slide yer half dead ass right out the back. Good effing luck marine. They spit on you and talk to you like yer something stuck to the bottom of their shoe. Im one of the poor bastards that drank the bad water at lejune and cherry point. Going in to try and get connected was one of the most humiliating experiences I have ever been through. I call that department "the island of Dr No". Cause that's all the old codger said. He never even examined me. I know the damage in my cut will take me one day. The pain gets worse every day. I would rather die in agony than in front of that mean old bastard leering at me....They treat us bad as a dissuasionary tactic. So that you won't come back. If you die or commit suicide you are no longer a liability.
In February I received excellent care in the heart ward, both the nurses and doctors were professional and friendly. Glad they were there or I would not be here today.
question authority
Out of the 5 VA facilities that my husband and I (who are both veterans) have been to, the St Louis VA is by far the best.
Caring Courtesy goes a long way!
Fired and demoted whistle blowers for for exposing corruption in this office. One of many offices that have provided sub standard care for it's veteran's. Many suicides among veterans being treated at his facility, and the administrators got raises. Avoid this office if you value your life. Our Veteran's should NOT be treated like this. Doctors are alleged to be only working a few hours day, and see half as many patients as they should.
Terrible parking with crackhead valets and a general laziness of the staff.
Terrible hospitality. Grandpa is here for cancer and no one seems to give one sentimental feeling. I'll never recommend this place. Update: it's been 2 hours and we're still waiting on service. Pathetic.
I brought my father to this hospital numerous times to see specialists over the past 20 years. I must say everyone I came in contact with were so wonderful. He got the best care. His primary care physicians, nurses, Hematology/Oncology physicians, nurses and treatment room nurses, Palliative Care division, Ophthalmology physicians and assistants, 7 South patient room and Emergency Room from triage to caring nurses and physicians. Everyone was wonderful. Thank you to all for your kindness and knowledge in caring for my father.
Best cardiologist. Same Doc as SLU & Barnes
Wheelchair bound...transpo can't even seem to pick me up for my appts. Been to several va' s this one is disipointing to say the least.
Worst customer service ever! The front desk techs in most of the clinics are always rude, cant answer questions or repeatedly give out the wrong information. Then they have the ardasity to get an attitude if you become frustrated with their less than mediocre service. Its better to go to Jefferson Barracks. You'll get better service and care. The management at this hospital is absolutely despicable. Whoever keeps employing these less than qualified customer service reps ought to be fired themselves.
The VA has certainly been under scrutiny and criticism lately, but let me tell you of my family's experience. My brother was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in January 2016. From the moment we were referred to the VA by the wonderful people at PVA, we experienced professionalism, efficiency, and kindness far beyond what I would have expected. While the supposedly renowned Washington University Clinic made us wait months for appointments, the VA gave us priority care. Everyone from the parking lot valets, to the front desk staff, to the nurses and doctors were fantastic. My brother passed away last week, and our family will be forever appreciative that he was treated with such great care and respect. Special thanks to neurologist, Dr. Calvin, and the speech therapy team.
Please let me die before im taken to this hospital.
The doc I was going to asked me about my problem while she was filling out the previous patient chart. Needles to say I gave the primary care ample about of time to provide me with service and I feel no physical care was given. My experience with this VA is all employees are either related to each other or trying to have intercourse with the nurses. And my doctor graduated from a third world country and mishandled her own medication and had to retire cause she went blind!
This hospital treats my VETERAN GRANDFATHER and it is total CRAP! They only treat him with drugs and more drugs to treat the side effects of the drugs that they prescribed him. He is crippled by the drugs. They are the biggest crooks and drug dealers then the cubans...which by the way in cuba the doctors treat their patients with kindness so that you don't have to come back! It's call LOVE and TRUE DIAGNOSIS! So if you or anyone else has had problems with this location or just the VA period...reply! If they really cared don't you think that they would have checked the systems for the blood transfusions before giving them AIDS! HELLOOOOOOOO!!!!
The care I receive is always good. Nurses and doctors are great. Eligibility division is rude, unhelpful and uncaring. Even the supervisors ate combative and rude. It is hit or miss in this hospital if you will encounter a rude person or a helpful person.
St. Louis, Missouri Veteran Affairs Hospital..... John Cochran 915 N Grand Blvd St Louis, MO 63106 Jefferson Barracks St. Louis, MO 63125 The employees are freindly but the gym is only open at Jonathan Barracks. I like gym's. I had a bad experience at John Cochran. One female employee wanted to take my blood. I asked her "what for ," she said, for cholesterol and drugs. Then she aggressively said "Can you see what I am saying." I responded with "no, I can not see what you are saying." One of the nurses in the emergency room said, " tall grass," just out of nowhere. I met with a female claiming to be a phycologists..... The first few minutes of the exam she started telling me how she had a death in the family four days ago. She also said, without asking me "you haven't been sleeping ," that was not true, she said, "we can give you sleeping medicine." I am wondering how..... Treating the air. I saw a doctor and they gave me a letter pertaining to a flight I wasn't able to make. So assuming things about my health is not appropriate, or professional. I question the intent of the female claiming to be a phycologists. And why they would want my blood. No, I do not like medical misconduct, or people to stick things in my arm. Or intentionally making me miss flights. There is a bus that picks up patients from John Cochran to Jonathan Barracks. The food in both cafeterias is not bad. They're signs on the wall with rights as patients unfortunately not all employees follow the rules.
Great doctors and hospital. Thanks for taking care of my car with the valet parking.
First contact made to this place I talked to the operator and explained to her that I need to get some medical paperwork looked at and signed. Her Exact words " I'm sorry this is confusing could you explain that again." Dear Lord please help me to have patients with these people!
All my treatment at JC has been adequate. MOST of the doctors are courteous and knowledgeable, but I've also gotten a couple with short tempesr..Eye Clinic, very good. Anesthetists were GREAT. Lab phlebotomists have a BAD, arrogant attitude. Cleanliness is a DEFINITE issue; the restrooms are FILTHY! Also, JC, when I'm sick, I don't come to the hospital to be yelled at, treated like I'm a child or the Village Idiot, interrupting your day, or to be insulted! So, I consider my treatment to be "just adequate." Not great, but adequate. But, if I could afford to go elsewhere, I WOULD.
In 2009 I went to John Cochran Medical facility with blood in my urine and inability to catch my breath. I was told I had pnuemonia given antibotics and sent home. Went back when bleeding didn't stop, waited five hours in emergency, before I was seen. It was a different doctor, at the end of the visit I was told either I had clap or aids, get out! After surgery in 2011 I was told I had bladder cancer. In that surgery the surgeon punctured my bladder. Nuff said!
First time today at John Cochran. Optical Doctors & staff very nice. Valet parking was excellent.
I am thankful for what this place does for those who put their lives at stake to allow America to be the free country that it is. God bless America!
