Overall, the office staff, doctors, and techs have been very friendly. I like that they discuss cost before doing anything and give options. The techs went out of their way to spend time with my dog who was upset. I believe their surgical staff to be exceptional although that it is a service that fortunately my pets have not required. However, the doctors are NOT PROPERLYTRAINED in animal behavior and are not sensitive to a pet who is petrified. They remove pets from their human to give shots and lab work. With my dog crying and howling like he was on fire, they continued to hover over him trying all of their restraint techniques. They were never able to get the lab work. Somehow the prior vets at Carrollton were able to do what was needed without incident and without a muzzle! So they then state understanding that dog was in a new place with new people. Well, if they understand he was scared, why didn't they respect the dog and address the fear? Now, it will be next to impossible for my dog to get routine treatment. Before, the groomer was always able to trim his nails; now they can't get near him with the trimmer; it triggers his fear. I tried bringing my cat for her shots and requested lab work, with understanding that I want all my pets kept with me for appointment. They did everything in room but tried to remove her for lab work which I declined. I'm sure they will respond with great concern for their patient, but the disrespect for both pet and parent warrant no excuse. I did express concerns with your people at the time. They clearly were aware they were not able to do lab work on my dog. They did not take him to larger room where they could deal with him "more gingerly". They knew nothing about him at that point; they led him out of the room without a word to me. There was nothing "gingerly" about how he was handled behind closed doors. As for the cat this week, it was my decision to cancel the lab work so as to avoid a similar situation. Bottom line; your "policy" is too rigid. I'm sure your intention is for safety of all and "best interest of your patient". However, after 40 years of taking my pets to vets where they are kept in my presence with NO INCIDENT, I have to conclude that your policy for my pets caused much more harm than good, and created risk to the pet and neighbors that manifested only after our visit there. Your rigidity in choosing policy over safety and sensitivity is not something that I or my pets will be returning to. Renee Ratley Your review will be posted publicly on the web. Learn more

They are ok except my dog needs his nails cut and they scared of him cause he growls even tho he had a muzzle on and my husband and I are holding him down on the table so he won't get up. The vet and the nail person come in the room shaking and want us to give him a medication to calm him down which he's only in there for less than 5mins. Our other two vets who have retired never told us to use medication on him cause he was not the worst they have seen. How can u work with animals but are scared of them doesn't add up so now I will be cutting my dogs nails and most likely looking for another place to go to. To bad the other vets retired they were awesome I miss Carrollton vet!!!

They are extremely affordable, and keep to their estimates (every single time in the last year and a half that I have been going). They helped me through the trying period when my Siamese developed cancer, and Dr. Bednar was absolutely wonderful in speaking with me on the phone when I had concerns. She performed his checkups, diagnostic testing and his surgery (and she is the Dr. for my female Siamese, as well) and was also the one that helped me let him go, when it was time. She was very frank with me about treatment options, and reviewed the Oncologist's recommendation with me in a very open and honest fashion-which helped me to make the most loving decision possible for him. She never once lied to or misled me, and when I did put my little guy to sleep, she made me feel that it truly was the best decision. My female Siamese developed a respiratory infection during this same time period, and I needed to go out of town for the weekend. I called them for kennel recommendations so that she would continue to receive her medication, and they kenneled her at the hospital for me at an incredible rate! I have been to A LOT of vets (approximately five in the last 18 years-as I have moved, etc.), and for the price, this clinic and their staff are the best that I have encountered to date. As long as I live in St. Louis, I will never go to another clinic.

I have taken my dog, Virginia, a mix lab, to see Dr. Cays for most Gin Gin's life, she is 10 years old. Dr. Cays is a wonderful doctor. I have seen others and lately Dr. O., who was nice and straight to the point, which I needed. My mother took her dog, a pug for all of his 12 years of his life, never had a problem, they were always there for her. She took him in every year to get all of his shots. It can be a busy office, also I was also so stressed this week with my sick dog, they seem to always help me out. Carolyn Wenger-Gonzalez

Every time I was coming to this place they never have patients,I was wonder why on the beginning, and now I know- because they just horrible!!! First time they have done a shot on my older dog and brought me her with bleeding arm and if I would ask for patch nurse didn’t even notice it! I am a breeder also and recently my puppy broke her leg and I brought them documents from emergency room with CD and next time we came in they simply didn’t knowwhat to do,no record, nothing! And several times I called to make an oppointment for puppy and next time I call they put information on a puppies mom!!!And they almost send us home when I coming first time after emergency room because they didn’t do them job in a first place and was lazy to write down them visits! Today was my last time I ever visit this place,we came to change a splenta on my lil puppy foot and they send us home because she said it’s 15 min till doctor shift is over! And before that they told me I don’t need to make an oppointment for it,any nurses can do that.It was ONLY us in the whole hospital!!!!And 3 nurses was staying there and observing, nobody wanted do them job! If you have any other places to go please do so!!!

Awesome place. Fit me in on a tight schedule and everyone was very nice and accommodating. Definitely my new Vet.

I have mixed feelings. A few days ago, I came in for the first time with my dogs. The treatment seemed great. Though, we came in with a few questions. Some questions were answered on the spot. The others were referred to the front desk. At the front desk the service was slow and unorganized. Wait time was long and attention to needs was poor. Even after we had been patient with the new associat, we had to repeat ourselves and ask multiple other associates before we could get answers. (Our two questions were for prices on boarding and neutering.) I am more disappointed now. We were called because one of the tests came back positive and medication is ready for pick up. (It was quoted at $50) When we arrived the lady seemed confused and insisted that the medicine is not ready yet. After multiple trips to the back room the medication was found. We were charged $140. (Nearly 3x the quote) After mentioning the price descrepency and playing the voicemail with the quote, the lady called the person who left the message. I was assured that I would receive a call about it to explain the unexpected charge. I haven't received any calls or emails. I hope this was just a fluke but I am going to try somewhere new next time.

The staff was very helpful and understanding during our difficult time. They took great care with helping us make a tough decision to put our dog down. Thank you ...

Fabulous service. They truly care!

Up until this evening I have loved this animal hospital. This evening started with a phone call which was promptly answered. I asked about comfortis for my 3 dogs. I discovered a flea this evening and wanted to act quickly. The lady on the phone explained that comfortis is only available on the online pharmacy. She explain another drug and went on to ask about the dog sizes and breeds. Which I quickly gave her. I told her that I would be there in just a few moments. I entered the animal hospital and was greeted by a vet tech. I gave her my last name and dogs names. She abruptly stated that since one of our dogs had not been seen at the vet that she could not distribute the medication. That being said I have been going here for 6 years and this has never been an issue. Her demeanor and attitude were unwarranted and I will take my business elsewhere.

They let me say good bye to my best friend of 16 years they let me be the last thing she saw before she was put to sleep and they let me stay with her for almost an hour while I bawled my eyes out.

Scott Sheldon

Been using them for 7+ years, always good service, not crowded and we get in and out pretty quick. Dr.'s have been really good with shots. No high pressure sales pitches for things which is good.

I have been going to this amazing animal hospital since I left the last place which was AWFUL. They truly care about your animal. The hours are GREAT...what animal hospital is open on Sunday around here....NOT many. I trust the vets with all of my animals. Thank you again for everything!!!!!!

Brought in cat with leg pain. Was seen quickly, vet treated the pain symptom within my budget I had that day. Very nice, knowledgeable staff, efficient service.

DON'T TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! They treated my partner horribly when she came to pick up our puppy from his surgery. They verbally assaulted her and treated her as if she was somehow in the wrong even though it was her name and number they took down for his pick up. I will NEVER be taking my pets here and I have told my friends and family about this experience.

We were traveling home to Cincinnati, Ohio and our family dog had his first seizure. We were pleased to walk-in and be seen immediately! Dr. Olevitch was very patient to educate us how this matter could of happened. We are greatful Dr. Olevitch and staff gave us details for our home veterinarian, about our emergency visit too. Thank you for truly loving animals!

They wouldn’t sell me the diet cat food unless I paid to get him seen with them. Even though I had a prescription for the food and paperwork that my cat was diagnosed with diabetes. That makes no sense to me.

Dannise Dremann

My daughter called me crying that they would not release her puppy to her. They were very unprofessional and down-right rude. If you treat people like that I can't imagine how you treat animals. What a shame!

Rock Road Animal Hospital did a fantastic job with my dog. He cut he ear pretty bad on Saturday and the first place I tried to take him to wouldn't see us since we were a walk in and don't go there. We ended up at Rock Road Animal Hospital and they were so nice and caring about my dog even though we aren't one of their patients. They were quick and took great care of him. Thank you so much for your help!

I used this facility when my cat passed and I had her cremated. THEY LOST THE ASHES!!! They did give me any urn I wanted for free but its still empty.. I have used for surgery with other pets and regular shots etc but not after that incident.

This place USED TO BE GOOD! They are running off the name/reputation that the old staff built up. I can not call without being placed on hold at least 2-3 times (3min). And when you go for your appt. they are always behind, at least 20 min. Then when you do see a vet with your sick friend they will run every test under the moon for the cash. Like I said this place USED TO BE GOOD, now they are out for your wallet and really don't care about your pet. I have now taken my friend back 3 times with the same problem and the same vet keeps giving me the same meds, but different forms. Geez, I wish Dr. Cloud and all the old staff was back and running it the way it used to be. THIS PLACE IS AWFUL!!!!

Brought my dobey here for the first time after the vet @Carrolton decided to retire. Staff and vet were both very thorough and friendly. In fact, the vet spent a good 10 minutes just "talking dog." I was very pleased and got the impression they wanted their visitors to be well-informed. Judging by the size of the place and the amount of pet noises behind some doors, this place is much larger than I am used to seeing. This is also the first time the vet asked me for "a sample," which has never been asked of me before...maybe because I've rescued in the past, and fosters had the pleasure of doing this for me? At any rate, like I said: this place is thorough, friendly, and informative. It's an extra 10 minute drive from the last vet, but I have no problems with this because I have seen the quality care they provide. :)

Rock Road Animal Hospital were absolutely amazing with our kitty, Khaleesi.... she had a serious eye injury and they accepted her and treated her immediately. They treated her and us with nothing but the utmost respect....

My dog started having seizure like episodes this morning. Rock road took my dog in today as a walk in. My normal Vet (Ferguson) was ignoring me and not returning my calls so I went to Rock road animal hospital. My dog was seen quickly and they had his blood results sent over from Ferguson animal hospital. They reviewed the results much more thoroughly and found his blood sugar was low and had dropped even more since we got his blood tested. We are heading to a 24 hour center now but without the help of Rock road animal hospital we would have not been able to help our dog as quickly as we did. I'm so thankful for their expertise and professionalism.

Michael Morgan

Been going here for 5 year, called recently to make an appointment for my dogs yearly check up and the told me I couldn’t. Said we could do a walk in but pay an extra $25. How do you have space for me to walk in and pay your even more money, but you don’t have have space for someone that has been coming there for 5 years. This place is very greedy. They over charge for everything. Happy I was forced to find a new vet though because I found out I was being ripped off. You can get same if not better service for a lot less at other vets.

I don’t know what happened to this place. I used to love it, but in recent years I’ve noticed the people at the front desk and techs haven’t been the greatest. I love Dr. Cays, but the receptionists and techs are starting to make me rethink my support of this business. Originally I gave this place 4 stars, but after an unbelievable experience with a tech on 4-27-19 and not having phone calls returned I decided that RRAH is no longer deserving of 4 stars. I will no longer be using RRAH and my animals will be going elsewhere. I highly recommend Dr Cays and Dr Doyle, they’re both amazing with my high anxiety dog. It’s a shame that I can no longer support this business.

I have never been treated so disrespectful in my entire life. We arrived for a 6:40pm appointment on time, registered, took a seat and patiently waited, & waited, & waited. Not one person reassured us or offered an explanation of why we were waiting so long. After being taken in an exam room at 7:15pm the Dr came in & examined my cat & made a diagnosis in less than 5 minutes. I was informed that my cat's condition was life threatening and he needed emergency surgery. The doctor began creating his plan of care & asked their billing representative to prepare an estimate of the cost of the services needed to save my cat's life. The biller entered the room with an estimate that ranged from $1000 to $1100 and told me I needed to put down 50% deposit before services could be performed. I told her I didn't have nearly that much money. She asked me how much I could put down & I told her at the most $300 and she approved. My cat was then taken & preped for surgery & I was told to go to the front desk for pick up instructions and to discuss payment arrangements. Once I approached the front desk the receptionist greeted me gave me the pick up instructions. I paid the $300 and asked who was I supposed to talk to about payment arrangements. The receptionist told me they would talk to me when I picked up my cat the following day so I left. Feeling confident all would be well I went home with a peace of mind that my pet was in very capable hands. I called to check on him this morning & all was well. There was a minor complication but all in all things went well & I was looking forward to picking him up later this evening until I received a call from their billing manager Carrie. I was told I had to pay another $522.72 & when I told her that I was told I was supposed to speak with someone about payment arrangements I was verbally assaulted, disrespected, & humilitated. I was accused of trying to steal their sevices & I am being forced to apply for a credit account I told her I could not be approved for. This woman was so insulting and abusive she completely devalued the excellent care I was confident I received for my beloved pet. This woman left me feeling absolutely mortified! I too work in medical billing & patient collections & I would NEVER speak to a payient the way she spoke to me because I guarantee if I did we definitely would not many return customers

They claim on their website that they provide the best care for their highly-valued patients, but you and your pet are numbers and cash-cows for their excessive fees. Use at your own risk.

Wish I would have found Dr O years ago.....I only got the opportunity to have one visit with Dr O but he is miles above any other vet I have dealt with for Mr Bigglesworth.....everyone I worked with at Rock Rd Animal Hospital were all so helpful and professional from the receptionist to the Dr that did the euthanization....Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love of animals and all you do for them......I wish there were more offices like yours out there. Thank you so much.

so far very wonderful took my dog there this morning and out come was surgery cost was lower than the visit to a different vet, i was so worried abut the amount of money it was going to cost but i have to say it is a reasonable price for what they or having to do, i just thankful that they could fit her in today emergency surgery, as a loving owner i think them from the bottom of my heart, and the out come of her surgery i will post but these nurses and doctors were very wonderful to me and my baby lady.

They used to be an amazing hospital. NOT anymore. I had called many times to talk to someone about my dog. No one would return my calls. When I finally called upset they assured me the manager would call. Instead I got a letter in the mail telling me they no longer wanted my biz. Accused me of threatening them. NEVER DID! Very unprofessional. Rude and uncaring. Completey different from when dr cloud and dr Rosen were there!! I was warned not to return to this animal hospital. I should has listened to my friend who does animal rescue.

Carmen Culpepper

I can't express how thankful I am for the wonderful care my dog received at Rock Road animal hospital.

Dr Bedner performed a surgery on my cat a few years ago to open up his narrow and clogged urethra. She gives it to ya straight, clearly loves her career, and super knowledgeable. A5-⭐ Doctor

Daryn Holdsworth

Very caring, knowledgeable and professional!

Kris Turner

Was charged for a unscheduled appointment when I did have a appointment and even told them I would print out a detailed call history on my cell account to prove so/ I was told that they will just give me credit on my next visit and hate to say this but there will not ever be another visit from me. I was told that they will send me the money which was 3 weeks ago so you know the story on that. They diagnosed our dog as having Kennel Cough ,which we took our pet to a professional because the symptom never went away and it was no part of kennel Cough so I got ripped of 180 bucks. My best advice is to take your pet somewhere that they care for and not this circus

Michael Kuhn

We have been very happy taking our dogs here. Everyone we have worked with has been fantastic with both us and our pets.

My experience at the Rock Road Animal Clinic was nothing more than a big scheme. They over medicated and misdiagnosed our dog and puppies! As I was checking out, a little old lady was being pushed the same medicine they threw my way. I immediately felt a red flag. The next day I took my dog and puppies to the APA in Brentwood and the dogs were tested and all were negative of the Giardia!!!

I called them due to my 11 yr old GSD was having a medical problem and had not urinated in over 12 hrs. They advised that I go somewhere else due to my inability to pay for the total bill today. I had just paid for $600.00 in car repairs and would not be able to pay the total bill until my next pay check on the 15th. They advised I go to AVS.

A Chandler

This was the worst customer service experience of my life. I made a complaint and they told me to find a new vet, for my dog in kidney failure.

thesasuke56

I am becoming more and more disappointed. I brought my dog in for x-rays on her leg because she was limping. The doctor came back with the x-rays, but only gave me pain medicine. Seemed rushed. She didn't even tell me what was wrong with her knee besides there was inflammation. Well a few months go by and I take my dog back in for her vaccinations and I ask more about her leg since she was still limping and I would prefer her not to be on pain medicine for the rest of her life. And this visit the doctor was even more in a hurry. She almost forgot to check vitals and everything. Well when I asked about her knee the doctor's response was, "Didn't I tell you what I thought (key word "thought") it was last time?" No you didn't you rushed me out. She said she thinks its a torn ligament or tendon that since the leg was inflamed she couldn't be sure. Then told me surgery is an option but since the injury is so old there is practically no point in doing it. Well if you would have told me all this on my prior visit maybe my dog would have gotten some help. I called just today to ask about if they have at least a brace for my dog and they don't even have that. I'm getting upset because I want to help my dog more than just giving her pain pills everyday.

Jody Flores

I have been bringing my dogs here for a few years, 1 an older dog, 1 a pup. The pup got an ear infection and as soon as I saw she was sick I took her in. What I didn't know is they charge an extra $20 if you don't have an appt., and I was not advised of this. When I got there, there was 2 cars in the drive. and only 1 person who walked in before me, no one else in the lobby. They took her and her dog in right away, as they should. Twenty minutes later another person came in and they took her in right away. 10 minutes later they took my pup and I back. So I waited 30 minutes, 1 person came in. 1 person came out and no one waiting in the lobby. After getting my pup checked, I then paid $181.00 including the walk in charge. I think if your pet has a legitimate ailment and you are a customer of theirs this fee should be waived. I am very disappointed.

Margie Smith

I love that they are pitbull friendly, I went in as a walk in for my sick friend, i told them that i needed for her to be seen an i didnt have much money the doctor ran only the test my dog needed was very friendly and caring for $170 i was able to walk out with two mrdications thr office vist cost and an ear swab i was very satisfied. The only thing that was. Crappy was the size of the room, it was so small where the chair was placed in a corner on top of a floor vent thr chair leg fell through it.. But hey, it happeneds.

Kelly Christner

They are warm, caring and very patient. I take my dog and my cat there and they have been wonderful with advice, options for treatment and excellent care. Dr. Cloud is especially good with my dog and I am grateful for their patience and thoughtful care.

Tyson Mutrux

As of today, I've had enough of this vet's office. They are horrible at communicating with you about what's going on with your animal, and don't provide any feedback about the animal's health. We recently ordered ear medicine for our dog over the internet, and the company has had to fax four requests to the vet. We have called each time, and they tell us every time that they received the fax and that the doctor will call us back. Today we called again, but they don't have any record of speaking with us. Really? I bet they would care a little more if we purchased the medicine through their office, but I'd rather not be price-gouged.
