This was our pig's first boarding experience at Lee's Summit Animal Hospital. He was boarded for an extended stay and we couldn't be more pleased. Stacie even sent us a picture of Tux while we were on our trip...he looked very happy. While he was there, he also had his tusks and hooves trimmed; they did a wonderful job! When we arrived to pick him up, the office staff, caregivers, and even a veterinarian shared how they enjoyed having Tux. They tried to keep him in a horse stall as much as possible, but also had space for him in a kennel when the stall was needed for other pets' care. We will definitely continue to board at Lee's Summit Animal Hospital and will now rely on them for trimming tusks and hooves. I would HIGHLY recommend this animal hospital and so does our pig Tux :)

My dog is kind of finicky and only likes certain Doctors. So when I call and try to get him in for something right away it's not always easy to fit him into the schedule. But the staff was so helpful in moving appointments around so that I could have the particular doctor see my dog. I really appreciate that! And of course, the visit itself was great! Love Dr. Schatz! Dr. Robert Herzog has taken excellent care of our pets, both dogs and cats for the last 20 years. Dr. Susan Schatz joined the hospital staff several years ago and has proven to be terrific with our pets as well. All of the staff treats the animals humanely and professionally.

We have used this clinic for over 15 years. All the doctors here are great! Dr Susan Schatz diagnosed one of my chihuahuas with canine cushing's and saved her life. Dr Theiss is helping our other chi who has an enlarged heart and back and neck pain. Rather than using additional medications to control the pain, which could push her into heart failure, he is using laser therapy. I have seen an almost immediate lessening of the pain.

I brought my husky in on Friday November 16th to be spayed and that was the last time I saw her alive. They called me at 12pm stating that the operation was finished and she was doing great. When I arrived there at 5:20pm, once I got off of work, they put me in a room and the vet told me that they had noticed internal bleeding at 4pm and they were taking her back in to operate. She told me that she would be fine. After about an hour another vet came in the room and told me that they couldn’t save her. I was told verbatim that “there is so much stuff in there, we couldn’t find the bleeding”. Because of their negligence a beautiful and healthy husky is dead. She was the sweetest dog in the world and is for sure irreplaceable. If you value your pets life I would avoid taking the risk and find a different office to go to.

I moved to the Ozarks last year I had taken my bigger dog Baby to them six years ago they went above and beyond to help her she gets bladder stones and needed emergency surgery they worked with her for hours she recovered completely. My smaller dog Bear had started not feeling well not long after we moved I took her to a local vet long story short she was so bloated and struggling to walk from all the steroids they had her on MU wanted a thousand dollars to walk through the door I just didn't have that so I took her there last week eleven days later she's feeling well and can walk thank you Dr Theiss you are wonderful!!!!

We can't recommend Lees Summit Animal Hospital on Market Street enough. We have been coming here for over 20 years. The best part is that they allow walk ins on Saturday mornings and that they accept Care Credit. Our senior chihuahua is a spitfire and takes a lot of patience to handle. Dr Austin was understanding and compassionate with her so we could get her the help she needs. Dr Austin preformed spay surgery on her, since he specializes in little animals, and the results were phenomenal. Even with minor complications after the surgery (no fault of his, she was just constipated from the pain meds), he was attentive and solution oriented. Thank you for giving us a couple more years with our little lady. We'll see you in a few months for check-up and teeth cleaning. 5 Stars.

This hospital is so unprofessional and honestly don't know how to run business if their receptionists and doctors don't know how to set or keep a simple appointment? My cat is sick and needs to be seen and our appointment was 2 days out. We get in for our SET APPOINTMENT and are told we have to wait 20 minutes. The receptionists try telling me they have walk ins and I tell them appointments come before walk ins to which they replied yes. So then what am I waiting on? Receptionists to do their jobs and learn how to keep bookings? Or is it the doctors? Because I want to know who is the cause. This will be my last time taking my animals, that I care for deeply, to an animal hospital that doesn't care for their patients and patients time. Update: it is now 11:15 and my appointment was at 10:45. Still haven't been seen.

Lee's Summit Animal has taken care of our animals since the late 70's. We started with Dr. Bud Hertzog and the last 13 years Dr. Gary Austin. These Dr.'s are kind, caring and attentive to our precious one's health care. A 5 star rating does not do Lee's Summit Animal Hospital enough praise. Dr. Austin has taken care of AbbyGale our mini doxie since she was born 13 years ago. He is truly the best. The office staff is also welcoming and efficient. Finally, this office is very fairly priced.

I have always loved LSAH. My parents used them for our livestock. One of the vets went as far as contacting a specialist with a special issue my pupperson was having. I want to update this review. I know it may seem silly to update a 5 star review but I want to. Recently my mastiff decided she was mad at my Jack Russell and attacked him. I immediately ran him over to get treatment. They kept him because he needed sutures and we were a walk in. While they were prepping him for surgery they noticed a small lump on his leg, on I had not seen because he is a rough coat. They removed it and asked me if I wanted it tested. Sadly, it came back cancerous, grade 1, but still cancerous. When they called me with the results, they gave me all of my options, the pros and cons of each, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. When we went in to get his sutures removed, I had a couple more questions. All were answered without a feeling of being rushed, even though I knew they were swamped with Saturday morning walk ins. First, I want to say it was a great catch to find the lump even though the focus was on the dog attack. Second I want to say thank you to the amazing team they have there. They care about their patients and the pet parents. My original review: I love Lee’s Summit Animal Hospital. The staff is great. They always take amazing care of my animals. I highly recommend them to anyone for any pet. I have two dogs and a horse. They treat them all!

I've been going here for years and have yet to have a bad experience, with the exception of my shelter dog being hard to manage. Despite him needing to be muzzled due to his lack of socialization, every employee was accommodating. Nobody acted scared of him, which put me at great ease. As far as prices go, you get what you pay for. Any bill that might run high is well worth it, as none of my animals have ever been misdiagnosed by any of the vets I have seen. I have had to visit another vet over the years for my rats (I don't believe they treat them here, but I may have been mistaken) and that is a different story. This location is definitely preferred.

I've used this vet for the better part of a decade or more and have been very happy with their services. Several ups and downs, from putting my senior dog down there and then them taking care of my new puppy, getting him neutered there, and so much more. That all came to a grinding halt today in the most upsetting way to me. I needed to get more heart worm medicine for my dog. Keep in mind that I have done this for the better part of a decade with this place. And I got the same brand for my senior dog and the new dog. Maybe I made a mistake, I will own up to that, but I routinely didn't give my dog the heartworm medicine in the winter months. If I was doing it wrong, then I truly am sorry. I would never knownigly do something that put my dog's well being at risk. There were no mosquitoes out so why give it to him? (I see now through online sources the recommendation is to give it to them throughout the year. I think that's a combination of pet pharma looking out for their profits and online websites covering their butts from litigation.) But if I should give it to him every month out of the year, I will do it. My dogs are my babies! Maybe when I got my first dog I didn't know better, but you know who should have? MY VET! I would put my own life on the line for my dog, there's nothing I wouldn't do for him to help him be happy, safe, loved, and healthy. This time however I decided to buy Trifexis from an online retailer because it was cheaper than I could get at this place. After seeing my order held up online for several days, I called out to the vet to find out what's up. They told me it's been more than 6 months since last time I bought it and I have to bring my dog in for a blood test. They want to do a heartworm test on him before honoring the prescription refill from an outside company. I was extremely upset. First, I had routinely bought it on this schedule from them in person. They could look back on my records and see the pattern. That pattern hasn't been broken. So why suddenly now I have to bring him in for a blood test? (And on top of that, they accused me of not giving him the medicine during the warmer months! I didn't appreciate the accusation! I told them directly I just skipped the frozen winter months! I start giving it to him again at any sign of a thaw! When they ignored that explanation and accused me outright, I was furious. Do not ever accuse me of willfully putting my dog's health at risk!) For nearly ten years mind you I walked in there buying my Trifexis on this schedule. I routinely skipped the winter months, typically January and February, maybe one more depending on the season. They could have looked in their records and saw this. But they didn't mind when they were making money off of me! It only became an issue when I asked to spend money at another company! This suggests two things. 1) They are being punitive because now I want to get the prescription from somebody else and they can't make as much money off me any more. or 2) They were just ignoring the well being of my dog while I was forking money over for heartworm medicine and gladly not batting an eye when I paid them directly. But now I want to give my hard earned money to another company they want to suddenly act like they are paying attention. Either way, this does not sit well with me. Either scenario is a lose/lose in my book. I take the health of my dog very seriously. If I was doing something wrong before, why did it take well over a decade for them to bring it to my attention? And if I wasn't doing anything wrong before, then the way I am being treated this way after being a loyal customer? I will go to another vet now I will miss Dr. Austin, but I didn't deserve this treatment. It broke my heart to do this, but I was also extremely upset.

We had a emergency on one of our Horses, we called to have a Vet to come out to see our Horse, after the third day I called the office and the Vet’s cell number saying I had a different Vet come out and NOT to come out. Lee’s Summit showed up the evening of the third day after I told them not to come. Our Horse’s hoof was wrapped Lee’s Summit came out without me being there unwrapped the hoof and left it unwrapped and called me saying the Horse had a tore ligiment which was wrong. So we had to call the other Vet back to come resoak, repack and bandage the hoof up again. I was seby a bill from Lee’s Summit so I called and explained what happened and I was told I still needed to pay the bill even though I clearly stated for them not to come out.

Went in to get my dogs shots updated and to check her back leg (she was playing rough with my other dog). I made very clear which leg and I won’t say his name but while checking on her leg he was doing it on the wrong leg for 5 minutes and I’m thinking to myself “maybe he’s checking both...?” He puts her down and that’s when I told him he still needed to check the leg she’s limping on. I got my bill and he put an additional $50.00 exam fee and said “I came in for her leg and oh yeah, shots were over due too.” He staated if I came in for shots and then Asked to check on her leg the charge wouldn’t be there... Thats weird because that’s how our exact phone call went when I made the appointment. The ladies upfront we’re nice and very apologetic but this is bad business. I’ll go down the street for my other pup.

I’ve always taken my animals to a different vet located off chipman road. I lately felt like they were trying to take advantage of me. My wife informed me about this place and how she always used them in the past befor we met. I decided to give this place a try. The veterinarian actually listened to what I had to say. Didn’t feel like she tried throwing everything from the book at my dog. Price was very reasonable! Staff was very friendly! It hasn’t even been a week and I’ve noticed a major improvement in my dog, for almost half the price of what I paid at the previous vet. I would highly recommend using this place!

We have been clients of Lee's Summit Animal Hospital for many, many years. In fact we were clients, moved away for 9 years and when we moved back we went right back to them. The people that work at the check-in are amazing - so friendly and caring. You feel like "family" right when you walk in the door. We especially love Dr. David Hertzog. His care and bedside manner when dealing with our furry kids is the BEST! I never feel like he rushes in and out of the room - he always takes the time needed to answer questions, etc. He has a practical approach to treatment and always, always has the animal's best interest at the top of his list. I would VERY highly recommend Dr. Hertzog and this animal clinic to anyone in town.

Our family has utilized the services at Lee's Summit Animal Hospital since the 1960s. Dr. Bud Hertzog always comes out and asks how my mother is doing and we reminisce about the past. We currently see Dr. Schatz. She is wonderful with our Great Dane, Annie, who doesn't hesitate to go in a room as she knows that Dr. Schatz will come in with sweet talk and treats. We don't hesitate to turn the care of our beloved pet over to her.
