Dr. Bates is the absolute BEST in all of Jefferson County and probably farther in any direction. I can't speak for any of the other vets there as my other favorites aren't there anymore. Unless Dr. Emo is still there....she is AMAZING also!!! I saw Dr. Bates two buildings ago when he was in that small building a short distance from where he is now. Amazing veterinarian.

The office is organized and is clean and well run. Everyone is very nice. They are easy to get a hold of and have taken our calls with care. We unfortunately had a terrible experience nutuering our male dog and male cat. The healthy male cat after surgery was dead within two days. We have no idea why and there were no signs. This may or may not be related. It sucks though. Our large 1 yr old healthy dog has had a terrible time recovering, and a week later still has extensive purple bruising along the entire groin. Not sure, I think he need a few more stitches for better healing. But lose stitches help with limiting scarring and puckering. So who knows. He has needed around the clock pain meds and can hardly walk. We got the recommended scrotal ablation with the surgery but he's still having a terrible time. Not all surgery goes easily. We have had dozens of dogs and cats be fixed in our 20+ year farm life and never have we seen or had anything happen like this. So that makes me concerned. BUT!!! They were amazing and compassionate and SO gentle when we put our dog to sleep. It was the kindest and gentlest thing I've ever seen. Dr. Bates was so good with everything. It was so peaceful. I almost didn't go with my husband to the euthanasia appointment because I was so worried about what to expect. I left feeling closure and peace. If you are looking for compassion and a vet office you can get through to, try them!

My dog Roscoe is not an easy dog to care for. He is a special needs dog that has to take medicine twice a day. He is a very particular dog that only like certain people. The Pet Lodge workers and Imperial Animal Hospital staff and vets work their wonderful magic on Roscoe. I know he really enjoys being there, and he thinks this is truly his second home. You all welcome him like family and we appreciate that. I know Roscoe can’t wait for another vacation at the Puppy Lodge and visit the Imperial Animal Vets for his special care. The people are very friendly and welcoming for sure. But this is profit-first medicine in my experience. They ordered an xray that was pointless as they were going to have to do surgery no matter which issue was causing the swelling in our puppy's tummy. In fact, they found an infected pocket during surgery - not any kind of hernia like their diagnosis said - and not fat or other tissues protruding. Then, while our pup was under anesthesia, they didn't recommend removing her baby teeth - we've learned since that good vets will often do this while spaying to reduce the number of time the animal has to be put under and save owners worry and money. Now our little girl has a retained baby tooth and will require another unnecessary general anesthesia.

I recently had the heartbreaking decision of giving my dear sweet Cheyenne over to Heaven. Anyone who has ever had to make the decision to let their fur baby go knows how hard this is. From the moment we arrived the staff at Imperial Animal Hospital were incredible. They done everything possible to help us through this process, from what was going to happen to letting us spend our last moments with her. They handled all the arrangements for her and called to let me know I could pick her ashes up when I was ready. I have had to deal with this type of loss before but I have never had any place show the type of compassion these people have. Thank you so much for everything. I cannot express enough how much I appreciate everything you done.

I really like the staff at Imperial Animal Hospital and my dogs always get great care when there is availability. That is my only complaint I have called on several occasions to make arrangements to kennel my dogs or have them groomed and there is never any availability. I have been having to use other another kennel when going on vacation. I have even tried calling a month or two in advance with no luck!

I had an emergency a few weeks back with my dog, Ali. My normal vet office was closed for the evening. I searched online and found Imperial Animal Hospital. Having never been to this vet before, of course I was a bit nervous that they wouldn't be as compassionate and attentive as my normal vet's office. Let me be clear, they exceeded my expectations. They had never met us or my dog before and they treated us with compassion and were very attentive. I even received a follow up call from the vet that we saw to check on the status of our dog and even received a card from the entire staff a few days later. We've been seeing the same vet office for the past 18 years but I gotta say that my wife and I have considered moving our future annual vet visits to the Imperial Animal Hospital. The employees, the care you receive, and the follow up are just that amazing. Highly recommend

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Toby would get soo excited when we ask him "Do you want to go see the girls" ? When he was diagnosed with diabetes Dr. Emo gave me the confidence I needed to give him insulin shots. When Buster crossed the rainbow bridge one of the vet techs gave my 5y/o granddaughter a teddy bear and one of the girls on the grooming side kept her busy while we were saying goodbye. We gave the teddy his name and collar. It has been such a comfort for her. Toby did cross over 2 months after Buster. VSS was just as compassionate when Toby left us. I highly recommend them!!!

We have been going to Imperial for about 15 years. All of the staff and vets have been nothing but accommodating, courteous, and have shown genuine care and concern for all our pets! Dr. Emo has gone way above and beyond to care for our dogs. Dr. Dellacamera also worked diligently to assist one of our dogs with a thyroid issue. Without a doubt the most reliable, caring animal hospital around! My family of pets have all been strays or rescues, none that I've actually chosen for myself, but rather were apparently chosen for me so that I would be able to provide them with the best life possible. Each one has had their issues and particular problems, but Imperial Animal Hospital has helped me with my endeavor of providing them with a good life. I drive almost an hour one way just to visit this facility. You are greeted with warmth the moment you walk in and your pet is treated as if it is their own through the whole visit. I am thankful to have found Dr. Bates many years ago and thankful that he has worked to fill his staff with such great, caring people that are kind enough to put up with me as well as treat my pets with so much love and tenderness.

Our doberman woke up with the right side of her head swollen and our initial thought was another snake bite. We got an appointment for the same day and following a visit it was determined that she most likely had an abscess in one of her molars. We left her in their care for a few hours while they sedated her and addressed the condition. The staff, as always was GREAT and relieved Zoe of her pain, additionally our financial anticipated pain was minimized with a very reasonable bill for the services and medications. I first met Dr. Church in June of 2015. I was having issues with my older dog. He was at the end of his life. Dr. Church went way out of her way to help with the last couple days of his life. She put her personal plans aside and helped me on one of the worst days of my life. I will be forever grateful to her and humane kind and loving care she showed Jack and myself. I will not go to any other vet. My daughter has a new pet and travels from Joplin all the way to Imperial just to go to Dr. Church. What a great Vet, I wouldn't trust anyone else.

She is professional, kind, understanding and provided such excellent care for Madison. She is thorough,detailed and compassionate. I have been taking my furry children to the Imperial Animal Hospital for at least 10 years and my opinion through experience is the best animal hospital that I have ever taken my pets to. They know my animals and their medical history. I would not hesitate in proving the highest recommendation to anyone because the Imperial Animal Hospital provides excellent care for animals. The grooming department has a high standard of providing professional services for your animals coat, hair and products. The grooming staff always make me feel that Tazzie (My Dog) is special and gives her the best care that they would provide for their own. A big "Thank You" to all the staff that works at the hospital and the grooming department. you guys are the best.

I would love to give this vet 0 stars, but not sure if it will show up then so I will give it 1 star even though that is not really the case. I used to love this vet office, we have been going here for over 15 years. However, it seems times have changed. We loved Dr. Bates and the staff, but it seems that has changed as well. The last 3 times I have had my dog in for boarding, she has come home with kennel cough or other respiratory infections from their facility. When I call they don't want to see her and make me pay for meds to get rid of a condition she contracted from their facility (3 times). I also have a cat with skin allergies. I used to be able to just bring her in (at doctor's instructions) and just have a tech take her back and give her the shots she needs. Today, I called ahead of time and was told "Yes bring her in...we can see her now as we are not busy". I get right up there, wait for almost 20 minutes when no one else is even in the waiting room only to have the vet take my cat but bring her back out and say they can't administer the shots because she needs to be seen by a doctor. But no one is there to do that. So now I have stressed my cat out and missed work for over an hour to be told...oops we made a mistake and can't give her the meds she needs nor can we see her because we don't have an appointment. So now my cat is stressed and still miserable from itching because they screwed up and won't make it right. We have invested so much time and money with this vet only to be treated this way. I am heart broken and frustrated with the way things have gone these past few years. I guess our money is funding the big, brand new building they are constructing but they can no longer treat my animals as they should. Very upsetting and I am sorry to say I would not recommend this animal hospital to anyone any longer. My recommendation would be to find another vet that actually cares about the animals and not the money. __________________________________ In response to your response: If the receptionist did not know your procedures, she should have asked before telling me to come in. It was 1 day past the time you saw my cat last so I would have expected some flexibility with meds since it was your office’s mistake. It was 1 day. The least your office could have done was fit her in to get the meds she needed instead of telling me I needed to come back another day. It would have taken less than 5 minutes which is how long it took on her last visit with Dr. Bates. And the Saturday option would not work for me because as I have it my daughter has a doctor appointment that day which will take some time. I didn’t feel I needed to explain why your options didn’t work as I feel one of your options should have been to fit us in since it was your mistake. But that was not offered even though I asked several times. I even suggested a few other options which were also denied. In regard to kennel cough, I vaccinate my dog so I would not expect her to get kennel cough. Although I understand it happens. What I don’t understand is how it can happen 3 times in a row over a year’s time. That is unacceptable. As I stated in my original post, I used to love your facility and Dr. Bates. He truly cared for animals and you could tell that when he talked to you. I miss him. I have spent lots of time and money with your office and I just would have expected some compassion and flexibility with this situation since I only did what I was told I could do. I stressed my cat out and missed over an hour of work to come home with my cat still miserable and me frustrated at the way we were treated. It is very unfortunate as it could have been handled much differently. It is disappointing that I will have to be searching for someone else to care for my animals especially when they have special needs which your facility used to handle with grace and compassion. You have my number because we have been patients for a VERY long time. If you feel you need more information, feel free to call me.

Phenomenal. I've been to multiple vets in the area. They go above and beyond the rest. Have had an ongoing issue with my dog. My last vet offered no true advice and claimed idiopathic problem then kind of sent me out the door. I ventured to Dr. Bates for a second opinion and he has already helped tremendously. He's genuine so is the rest of the staff. He made a few follow up calls asking about my dog. He treats you and your pet like a part of his family. I highly recommend the facility.

I love this animal hospital. The staff is excellent to you and your pet. What I really enjoy is taking my dog to get groomed, first your pet does not mingle with others they have their own cage. Also you have a personal groomer so every time you go back you get the same groomer so your pet becomes accustom to this. They also take a picture so they know how you like your pet hair groomed. A Facebook event prompted me to bring my cat in for his rabies vaccination. There was a long line but it moved quickly. I ended up getting going for the upsell of rabies, distemper, and Leukemia vaccine for $80. All friendly employees. I would go again.

We got our baby on Halloween day and a couple weeks later after speaking to friends and family that all had great things to say about Imperial vet we made an initial appointment,Our baby loves it there.The staff treat them like they love them just as much as you do,They call to check up on them as well,They are very attentive to your concerns and questions. We have taken her there 3 times for puppy appointments and she's even excited to go. Recently our baby got into something that gave her a Gi infection, We had a puppy visit where Dr.Worth fixed her right up we are currently on day 3 of antibiotics and things are looking great...Wish I could give more stars they deserve them!

. My dog had been sick since about 2 am...throwing up multiple times and was becoming almost motionless for long periods of time. Panicked we saw this veterinary "HOSPITAL"opened earlier than others regular offices and dashed up to have him seen. We saw one car in front of the building and were relieved thinking we could have our boy seen promptly. We walked into the office at 8:22 am to see several young ladies behind the desk visiting with the one and only customer in the waiting room. I explained how sick Jax had been and how concerned I was. Her response to me....while I'm standing with my possibly poisoned dog wrapped up in my arms was....and get this.....IM SORRY; WE SEE PATIENTS BY APPOINENT ONLY!!!! SERIOUSLY???? One.patient and an empty Lot and these CARING INDIVIDUALS WON'T EVEN TAKE THE TIME OR EVEN ASK A DR. TO LOOK TO MAKE SURE MY DOG DIDNT NEED EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE?????? All I can say is that those people are apparently making more money than they should and definitely ARE NOT THE COMPASSIONATE PROFESSIONALS THEY SHOULD BE NOR IS THEIR STAFF. I am sitting outside another office waiting for it to open ...in tears wondering if our sweet pet of 9 years is going to make it another 15 minites to see a REAL VET WHO HAS A TRUE LOVE FOR ANIMALS.!!! PLEASE DONT PAY YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO A BUNCH OF JERKS WHO ARE MORE WORRIED ABOUT STAYING ON SCHEDULE THAN CARING FOR AN ANIMAL IN DISTRESS!!! I am going to pass this along to anyone and everyone I come in contact with who will listen...leave reviews on any site possible and blast it anywhere I can of social media!!! Hope that keeping on schedule was worth it!!!!!

We had an indoor outdoor cat that we took in, and the first thing that impressed me is that the Vet didn't try to push vaccinations that were not needed; only the required ones. Love these guys!

We've been going to the same vet for 12+ years but he retired and we moved. Our neighbor recommended imperial animal hospital and we couldn't be happier with this place! Very friendly staff. Very clean facility (and they're in the process of constructing a new building in the adjoining lot) and our vet was kind, extremely informative and very caring. She was patient and took her time with our nervous border collie who warmed up to her quickly! If you are looking for a great place to take your furry loved ones, pease check them out! They also have grooming services, but I have no information to share on that. Thanks again!

I can’t say enough good things about IAH!! My Bailey was jumped by another dog in his own yard and required stitches and antibiotics. They got us in right away and called me to let me know he was through surgery and when I should come to pick him up to bring him home. Called me the next day to check on my Bailey. Very professional, reasonably priced services. There's a real since of a staff the enjoys their jobs and a since of genuine caring for your pet from the moment one walks into the door. The compassion continues with the doctors' and assistants' attention in the meeting rooms and the thoroughness of diagnostics is unmatched in my experience. The empathy shown in helping with a terminal pet particularly impressive. While the service fees seem consistent with other vets, I particularly appreciate the complete lack of pressure to purchase medications solely from Imperial (also seemingly at competitive prices) ... and even doctors recommendation of over-the-counter and human prescription alternatives available at much lower costs. All together, it seems to me that quality and attempts to reduce owners additional costs makes Imperial Animal Hospitals services a great value.

These are quite simply the best people on the planet! I have been going here for a few years and they treat my dog and my family like we are part of a family. No rush in and out. Vet talks to you, asks questions, engages you, gives advise, doesn't pressure you into buying some expensive thing (partially why I left my last vet), find out about your pet and it's lifestyle. I have never waited for a long time for an appointment. The staff is SUPER friendly. The vets are GREAT! I recommend this place to everyone who asks. They are just amazing people. I took Lucy, which is now is Doggy Heaven, to have her put to sleep. The staff as well as the Vet was extremely nice and caring throughout the whole process. They comforted Lucy and us, as well as gave Lucy a nice last meal. We discussed the options that Lucy had and came to a dicision that was best for Lucy. The whole process was not stressful in anyway on Lucy and they gave us plenty of time with her in those last precious moments. Afterwards they made a paw print in a nice circular display. They are going to write her name on it and draw some hearts and flowers on it and I should receive it this week. I am very glad that we made the decision to put her to sleep. Now Lucy is in a much better place without pain or suffering. I would highly recommend Imperial Animal Hospital to anyone with a pet. The Vet and staff are top notch and know what their doing. Would definitely go back to them in the future. They are a little more than other vets but it's well worth it. As the old saying goes, You get what you paid for, rings true even with veterinarians.

We have never had a bad experience here. Staff is always friendly and go out of their way. I had my three kiddos in the car and they brought my dad's dog out to me which was super nice of them so I didn't have to get the kiddos out. It's the little things. My fiance had to have his very first dog put down, and we chose Imperial Animal hospital and they were so compassionate. He struggled for days afterwards with his decision- and he called and the doctor always called back and reassured him it was for the best, that he did the best for her. And, when he had questions about her condition- they always explained it. Just all around great people.
