REVIEWS OF Humane Society of Missouri IN Missouri

I had to surrender 4 kittens. We found the mother in our garage and brought her in and she was pregnant. We already had 2 cats and a dog so I kept one of the kittens and the mother and surrendered the other 4 when they were about 7 weeks. One of them was have problems with throwing up and constipation and as soon as we got there they took that one back to the vet to check it out. I was getting attached to the kittens so it was hard for me to let them go but I know it was best and I know they will be adopted out to their forever homes with amazing families. I'm keeping an eye on the website to see when they are adopted. I just wish i could know for sure but i understand i surrendered them because I didn't have the time or money to care for all of them like they all needed and deserved. The lady that helped us at the humane society was so nice and sweet and patient because I was pretty emotional about leaving them. I think her name was Marsha. Thank you for making me feel a little better about an emotional situation for me.

Krysty Tonka

They reunited me and my dog after 31 days of her missing. I knew she was there cuz of fb, but when I called they told me she wasn't. I went up there personally and was told no, again.... demanded a walk around and they took me straight to a room I had never been in before (I was there every 3-4 days to look while my pup was gone) that they were keeping her

Malissa Mobley

Friendly and helpful staff.

Cindy Larson

Good service friendly people and took excellent care of our kitty.

Joshua Hull

Have adopted 3 cats and they have all had something wrong with them. 2 of them died within 3 weeks of the adoption date. Both of them were younger than 3 months old. They're was nothing we could do with either of them to prevent their demise. The other has obviously had an issue with one of his back legs in the past and it must not have healed properly, however we weren't ever made aware of this prior to adoption. When we brought back the 2 cats remains, they refused any liability on their part even tried denying us the ability to adopt a new cat when the first died. I will not ever give this place one more red cent and I suggest noone else does either.

Dan smith

Always has a section closed off so not able to see all the animals

Dina

Very helpful! After you adopt, you get 10% off of everything in their gift shop, how awesome! They also care so much about all of the animals as I have been in the back with them. They are all treated equally and are so well cared for.

Anne Lorraine

The humane society of Missouri is wonderful!!!! They provide great care to rescued animals and rehabilitate them for adoption. The animals are provided with ample living space, food, and healthcare. The facility is clean and well maintained. The staff here are very helpful and provide amazing services. I adopted my wonderful dog from here and would definitely adopt another one.

Beat Loaf

My family have been going to the Humane Society of Missouri on Macklind since before I was born. They really care about animal welfare.

Jacob Barlow

Got a wonderful cat here just what we needed.

anne faulk

Nice, clean facility, the animals seem pretty happy. We got three dogs from there so far, all sweet babies!

Lorien Stout

I had to put my cat to sleep due to old age and illness. The lady at the surrender desk was very sympathetic and helpful despite a chaotic situation when I arrived. Although it was a sad and difficult situation, it was made easier by the kindness of the desk clerk.

Emily Albert

I went here to do one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced, which is the passing of a pet. I can without a doubt say they made this experience so comfortable, and they went above and beyond. The room was comfortable with couches and blankets to make you and your pet comfortable. Not a cold operation room. They walk you through everything and give you as much time as you need. I can not describe in words how much of a difference it made and was so much more than I expected. They made the grieving process so much easier. I love them and will continue to donate and support the humane society. I would recommend if you have to make this hard decision they will help you and are worth going to. The love and care they put into you and your pet is incredible. Thank you so much!

Mr Mosblech

They have good medical care. I have taken 2 dogs there for health care.

Lucas Schneider

Justin Stein

took great care of our dogs all the staff very nice and friendly

Claire Holohan

I adopted a cat from a different shelter and was quoted $250-$470 from different vets to get her spayed. When I called the clinic at the Humane Society they told me they'd do it for free! The vets were caring, the procedure was quick and with no complications, and they even did bloodwork for only $12. I think it was part of a program that was going on so I'm sure it costs now, but I have had nothing but great experiences at the Humane Society.

Heather Ruble

They were so helpful and awesome about taking in the strays I rescued

Marin Woronets

The pets are well taken care of and the staff is always friendly, no matter the situation that brings you there. I’m so thankful for HSMO.

Madeline Murabito

Mary Petersen

I was dropping off some stray kittens. It was a nice semi fast trip.

Daniel McClure

We stopped by to look at some dogs and were pleased to find all the staff members very helpful. The animals were all well taken care of. We even got to visit with a puppy. Kudos to ask the humane society volunteers and workers!

Eric Grierson

Never buy purebreds! These people are saints

V Heidr

This is Heimey- he was Toes when I met him at the Macklind location. Originally, I was there to see about a dog but, we decided to walk through the cat room and there was this HUGE cat, reaching out with literal hands. The staff seemed pretty overwhelmed and busy but were very attentive and awesome- and, as a result, I've got one of the most sweet, patient helpers in my working with foster kittens. He has also trimmed down to a healthy weight, if anyone remembers him. <3

Mark Burgess

Here to put our dog down sad day they were very helpful and kind thank you Humane Society for being understanding

Sarah Neuman

We adopted our 2 cats from here. The staff was kind and very helpful. They all seemed really engaged even though it was a really busy day when we were there. I would definitely adopt from them again!

Zachary Swan

I got my catahoula, Freyja there when she was 3 months. I couldn't asked for a better dog. The employees are great, the place is clean and you are helping a animal. I still use them for freyja's vet oppointments. Again, super compassionate and knowledgeable. It's just a great place doing great things.

Suzanne Roussin

Great friendly service, my dogs loved them. They need more donations to offer more need-based discounts for spaying, neutering, & shots.

Holly Beiter

Clean and very well organized.

Christina Swistak

Awesome experience. They do so well here. We brought home our new fur baby thanks to their help. Anyone wishing to adopt a pet or donate to a very worthy cause, needs to look no further.

J Thomas

The animals seem very well cared for with in-house veterinary hospital, groomer, daily walking by elderly volunteers, and even reading sessions with volunteering children.

Larry Saville Jr.

Marjorie Williams

Michael Cuipa

Jume Dabbs

Best place to find your forever friend.

lady ki

They're awesome

Valerie Peters

Love the service and answered all my questions I had for one of our dogs we brought in.

Eri H

I use them as my vet and have adopted from them. Vet side- they seem to know their stuff in relation to cats. A few vets can try to railroad you about some non-essential things, so make sure you pay attention. That being said, I feel my cats have gotten great care. They are a little higher prices, but I think it's worth it. Adoption side-staff knows their cats and genuinely wants to see them in good homes. Adoption process was quick and easy. Fees seemed a little high, but still reasonable. My cat adoption came with a free vet check up and a coupon for the store (mostly geared towards dogs).

Kate Schuetzenhofer

Adopted a dog from them. The amount of caring people that work here is overwhelming. Truly thrilled we were able to take a new baby home. Glad to support the Humane Society in any way we can.

olta isufaj

Great people taking good care of animals. The front desk lady was very nice and did our paperwork very quick

Bobby Axel

Jonathan Brown

Kathy Orlowski

Wonderful people doing beautiful work with animals

Shani Blue

We have been working with the Humane Society and our pets for years. I got a new cat and the SNIP program was very helpule and affordable. The cat was I and out the same day. And they removed the stitches the next week for free. Shots and tags were part of the fee. But considering that all the private vets I called wanted to charge upwards of $300 for the same procedure, it was worth it. Plus, helping the Humane Society also benefits their shelter. They even have grooming services.

Carrie Boyster

Lots if caring nice people..

K Hyde

Very good dogs here

Rebecca Lewis

Everyone is helpful and friendly.

Melissa Lareau

This picture is from their new calming rooms in the vet clinic. I have adopted two animals from this place. Every single person that has helped me has been amazing. You can donate money without talking to anyone. (If you want too) The humane society has both a vet clinic and adoption center on site. It also has a pet shop that doesn't charge tax. You also get 20% off any purchases for the 1st week after you adopt. I Have gotten some of my best pet-things, out of their gift shop.

Tyler Guliano

i have just adopted a puppy from this location a few days ago and it was everything i could have hoped for! i am absolutely in love with my new puppy, and the adoption process was made very easy. this is coming from a first-time adopter. all the other places seemed a lot more difficult compared to this one. they offered us discounts on supplies and shots for my new puppy, paisley. if the time comes again to adopt a pet, i know i will be coming back here! everything was made so easy and the staff were friendly and easy to get along with.

Chanel Harris

Very nice service and people just have to wait long.

Beth Pomerinke

STAY AWAY!! She had 2 year old Trenton for 2 1/2 months and had to put him down the day after Christmas! My daughter (20) found a dog she wanted to take to school in Springfield with her. She picked Trenton, he was 2 years old. We were told everyday for a week that he was unable due to runny stool. Finally, he was available. Since my daughter was at back at school my husband went and got him in late October 2018. He was sick from the onset with diarrhea and vomiting. When she came home we took him to our vet. He felt around his belly and found a 12 inch long mass, 3 inches in diameter. He tried treating it but then Trenton stopped eating because we found out later had a bleed in his stomach as well. All said and done she had to put him down the day after Christmas. What a horrible place. Why did their doctors not find this? We were told that he was probably born with it and was doomed from the start. Someone else will now take care of all our adoptions.

James Scott

Bad experience. Will never return. Wanted to see one of 2 sleeping puppies before forking over about $300 for a dog and was told by one of the staff (trying to look busy) that a bunch of forms had to filled out first. If they were serious about finding homes for animals , they would have been more helpful .

James O'Neal

Very professional employees. They really care about the welfare of the animals they have for adoption. I adopted an adorable Guinea Pig.

Gabbie J

The staff was very understanding and caring when it was time to put my dog down. Very reasonable price and surprisingly didn't reek of pee.

VJ Squad

I love this place because its about puppys

Josephine Coleman

I love that they have same-day adoption this is our cat Edison he is deaf but he's very smart and fun to play with he loves our family and our family loves him he is a great addition to the Stokes Family

Payton Barich

We were here for HOURS trying to decide which pet would be the best fit for us. After a lot of thinking, we took home our new dog Koba. He's such a sweet boy and I'm so glad we found him and were able to find what we were missing. This was the first time I have ever been to the humane society and from now on if I ever want to get another pet I will always check here first.

Chuck Johnson

The young woman who assisted us , her name was Clara , was very rude and condescending and made my family feel very uncomfortable . When we asked questions she rolled her eyes and was very dismissive . Terrible experience. Please hire better people !

We adopted a border collie pup, I believe her name was Jane, seventeen weeks old at the time. Jane, aka Harley aka Harley Jo! is doing awesome! She likes to chew and has had very few accidents inside but she’s very funny, active and listens very well!

dan deadeyedandh

Got a cat, lot of choices.

Tony Zebrowski

Welcoming location good place to take children to visit with the animals. Our cat Blue was adopted from there in August and we've been back several times since then for fun and to drop off donations. They really appreciate extra stuffed animals and blankets.

I wish I could rescue all the dogs

Nishia Robinson

The people where so nice I loved it I went in and adopted My Puppy within 2 to 3 hours tops with all his necessaries and medical history the prices of somethings can be a little pricey though. And the atmosphere was very calm and happy. They also went through everything with you to make sure you get the right dog or cat or anyother small animal that is right for you and where you live. They also give you a bag of there food and a collar also. And if you have a particular pet in mind you can have a sit down ( meet and greet ) with that animal and up to two others to make sure you are both comfortable with each other.

Charles C

Friendly staff, very clean facility. Animals are very well taken care of and it's very apparent they're all animal lovers.

Shuangyu Zhang

We adopted our most loving Obi here since he was 10 weeks! This definitely would be one of my top destinations if I plan to adopt pets! Their website is very current and live, so if you are touched by any cuties, go there fast!

Amy Allen

Always pleasant, friendly, and short wait times

Kathy Anderson

I was pleasantly surprised at how clean everything was. There was virtually no smell that's typical to a facility housing so many animals. The staff and volunteers were incredibly helpful and polite.

Kate Rose

This location was labeled on Google as The Corporate Office, which isn't entirely correct since there are several buildings at this location. First people should know there is an Animal Shelter at this location, where you can bring animals in need of a shelter or view animals for adoption. There is also a veterinarian facility here, and lastly there is an Administrative Building here for the Humane Society. Labeling it is as just a Corporate Office may lead some people to think this is not a place they can come to adopt animals. It definitely is!! I volunteer for this organization.

Tony Polizzi

I had to put my dog down and we chose to come here. Let me tell you I'm grateful we did. The humane society cares about your situation genuinely and does well comforting you throigh the process. They make it as easy as possible. They even sent us a card with hand written notes from several staff members. This is an amazing organization and deserves your support/business. Thank you guys for making the process of putting down my childhood best friend a little easier.

Jennifer Adams

I cannot say enough about this Humane Society. Two weeks ago my partner and I found a dog wondering around the street near our house. She was tired and thirsty and hungry and generally scared. We brought her back to the house to make sure she got some water and food and just a safe place to rest and then began the process of navigating the lost pet scene. Let me tell you...plan on keeping a dog ad infinitum if you want to wait to find the owner or find a spot with a rescue. There are too many dogs and not enough resources. Enter The Humane Society. Not only did they take the sweet pup in the very next day (after she'd had a chance to sleep on a hooman bed and get her strength up a bit) they cleaned her up, updated her vaccinations and immediately put the word out on all channels for the possible owners. If the owner is not found then she would be entered into the adoption pool (and this is a dog that WILL be adopted. We couldn't keep her, but she was sweet and kind and gentle so she'll definitely have her forever home). The Humane Society made the process simple and put us at ease about what her future would look like. Great staff. Very compassionate and kind. If I could give more stars I would.

Megan Vokracka

AMCMA staff are great. Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Burrell took amazing care of my dog. All of the staff were very accommodating and patient. Mind the clinic construction. While the temporary lobby is kind of inconvenient and crazy during peak hours, the renovations will make a visit less stressful on your pets.

phee q96

The things that the Humane Society has to offer the St Louis area is beyond amazing and it shows how much heart we can give to the animals of our society that deserve better and deserve a home.

Anna K

A shelter run by incredible staff with sensible policies. Great place to adopt and volunteer. They make an incredible impact on the region's strategic population by neutering and spaying every animal they can.

Chris Teutenberg

Wonderful people there, truly care about the dogs. Highly recommend the vet service.

Bonita Crape-Williams

Employees seem to really care about their charges. It's hard to keep a place clean with that many animals. Lost my heart to two puppies but they became ill before I could purchase them. I'm trying to keep track of them (first quarantine, now they're back with fosters). Wish me luck that they don't get taken by someone else (I was told first come, first served). I will be heartbroken.

Bryan P

My cat Seth died suddenly in August. I brought him here first thing in the morning and told them what happened. They were very good to me. I paid a small cremation fee and left my beloved cat in their hands. The staff here are real professionals.

Cindy Paul

Great place anyone looking for a pet should check them out. We adopted Romeo during their clear the shelter event. He has been a great addition to our family. When we first got him he was a little under weight not any more! He is as happy as we could be.

Jill Milligan

We are an older couple and are needing to move into Sr. Housing. The Apartments will not alow pets so we had to make a sacrafic that nearly tore our hears out. Our Tuxedo cat, Itsy, is 14 yrs old and the Orange cat, KiKi, is 5 or 6. We drove the cat 100 miles to St. Louis MO and did what they call "Surendered" our 2 cat. They are like our children you know. We cried all the way home, a long hour + drive for us. My husband is still having trouble emotionally over this, so to help relieve his mind, I called one day 2 weeks ago to inquire on how they cats are doing to see if they got a nice home to go to. I was told I can never get that information because we "Surendered" the cats. All I needed to hear was that they are still waiting to be adopted or that they have a new home now. That's all. But for some reason I can not know anything to help put my husdands' ind at ease. Shame on them! It's hard enough having to go through what we have but they have made this 10 times harder for us.

Todd Walter

We have been on the lookout for a new puppy after losing our long time companions recently. While we have looked all over one of our former dogs was adopted from here so we wanted to find another puppy. We spotted a cute little puppy on the website and called to inquire. The puppy was still available however, on the day in question we were to spend the better part of our afternoon at a park for sports which unfortunately did not allow animals. We asked if we could arrive at the opening of the facility check out the puppy and adopt if all went well with the facility holding the puppy (for approx. 3 hours) until we could get back from said park. They refused and said our only option was to arrive after the sports by which time the puppy was already gone. In contrast we did eventually adopt a puppy from another shelter which immediately asked us if we would like to have them hold the puppy for a 24 hour period so we could prepare our home. Stark difference in these facilities. We were very dissapointed.

Michele Hulsey

We were told we would get a senior discount and dental discount, which we thought meant we would get a monetary discount. Just called and was told that just meant we had to sign a waiver that he is a senior and had dental issues. I have adopted senior dogs before and did receive a monetary discount. Maybe if you offered discounts for older dogs you might be able to adopt them out quicker. When we there they had a line of people wanting puppies.

mylesa lenoir

Always exceptional care at an affordable price.

Erica Zamudio-Ahl

Facility is great, pet prices are fair, connected to a vet is great, we got one of our cats here and the adoption experience was wonderful. The volunteer structure is a little weird but it works for this place.

Steven F

Got my puppy here every one was very nice.

Roman Nikitin

Great place for your animals , very affordable, highly recommended to anyone.

Sherry Pearl

We took our cat here. Very nice and helpful staff. Dr. Sullivan is fantastic and I highly recommend her! Will definitely be back.

Kelsey

Unprofessional, unresponsive, unreasonable. No wonder this place is ALWAYS hiring for some job...and almost 300 dollars to ADOPT a dog at a HIGH KILL shelter. Ludicrous.

victor thomas

Finally got my dog from there. Yay

khaled Jumean

There were nice, clean place

NANCY INDERWIESEN

Friendly staff-adorable animals that need a forever home...go adopt!

Rowdy Wicket

Great resource for nature and the STL community.

Digby Dooright

Just brought home my kitten. They named 'Jug Head'. lol The adoption process was easy and simple. Not like some Rescue's that want want you to have First Class Govt Security Clearance. The fee was 135 dollars. They gave me a binder with information and a bag of cat food. All in all, a VERY easy and fun experience. :D UPDATE: It has been several months and my kitty is doing great. I love him so much!

Jamie Fereday

Got our Australian cattle dog here. The staff is very friendly and we will be back!

Sandra Bruce

Had kitten spaded and staff was wonderful.Nice clean facility and very prompt service.Prices we're great to other vets prices for same service.

Eric Frazier

Very clean and friendly staff. Found some kittens at my job and took them there. Sad i can't take care of them but at least they have a chance.

Hannah Aguirre

Very friendly staff. We came in very early, without an appointment and were able to see a vet within the hour. The lady that took our information in the room was a pleasure to talk to and she played with our kitten too. :) You can tell these people love what they do and they just want to help. Great place!

Bonita Newby

Very nice staff, had to wait long for my puppies.

Libellule Amour

I am more than happy with my experience adopting my new dog, Zara (former name: Deanna), from this shelter today. Today I went to the Macklind location looking for a specific dog and head set on adopting it, but with the expertise and thoughtfulness of the employees I ended up with a dog that was much more fitting for me. The employees were supportive and kind with every step of the adoption process. Liz, the adoption counselor was absolutely wonderful and patient. You could tell that she was an animal lover and she not only wanted what was best for the dogs, but also built a relationship with them. I am so thankful for the helpful employees and the waiting period was more than worth my time, after all I ended up taking home a precious gem! Thank you so much.

Courtney Biernat

I found my new bff here

Ernest Last

I was there for a orientation class to be a dog walker . The staff are very helpful and give you a lot of useful information.

Alicia Goode

My daughter and grandson loved it

Donica Baker

We adopted a Jack Russell terrier 3 years ago when she was a 4 month old puppy. She is just the most wonderful addition to the family! She never barks or chews up anything, and was very easy to potty train. She is so affectionate and cuddles with us on the couch and keeps us warm in bed at night. Loves playing fetch and going on walks. We were nervous when we had our baby, but she has been so gentle and loving with our baby. The Humane Society helped with spaying, micro-chipping, providing medications, her first collar, and I really like the vet clinic they have as well. Great experience overall.

Brian Sadowski

Wish all the creatures could have homes. The people who work there are great. Lots of love in that shelter just waiting for a home.

raina talley

We have the sweetest special needs cat a part of our furever family thanks to this place. I saw a cat on their website the night before and knew she had to be ours. They had our family visit the cat in a quiet room to make sure that we were absolute on our decision. They gave us a bag of food, a free vet appointment, staff were polite and quick moving. Everything was clean and there was never an ounce of confusion that I felt. This is a great place to adopt from.

Carrie D

Not a great experience. I appreciate what they try to do here. I adopted a dog very successfully from HS in Louisville. They gave me a temperament assessment for the dog, and actually labeled the dogs by temperament. Here, there was very little behavioral assessment that I was privy to. I was told the known history. I was told my dog was housebroken. Ends up the dog was not housebroken and has severe separation anxiety. Six months and hundreds of dollars later, I've surrendered the dog. This has been an exhausting, expensive, heartbreaking experience. I will make other arrangements to get my next dog.

Michelle Dovin

Hardworking staff

Curtis Windle

I love this place, the staff really cares about the animals and seem to really love finding the forever homes. I have my second cat from here and the prices are very reasonable, especially because they take care of all the shots! If you're looking to find your forever companion, look no further...and please donate what you can to them, it keeps them looking out for these adorable and loving animals!

Stephanie Schmitt

Finally made the decision to get a pet. Definitely wanted a rescue. All my other animals have been rescues. Didn't know if I wanted a dog or a cat. You fill out a adoption form & the front desk will assign an adoption specialist to help you get acquainted with the animal of your choosing. They put you in a private room, away from all the noise. Then they give you time with the animal. When my specialist came back, I had many questions. She answered them & gave me excellent information on the cat's health history & behavior patterns. Once I made my decision to adopt her, we went over everything involved, including choosing a vet. She gave me great tips on introducing my cat to get new home, including the time line. We then went up to the waiting area & checked out at the desk. We received a discount at the gift shop. That's super handy considering I had nothing for my new pet at home. Everyone one of the staff members seemed to be happy working there. Just an overall wonderful experience. Please, please, PLEASE consider a rescue. I highly recommend the Humane Society.

Laura Jordan

Found a new perfect family member. Our cat was fixed, chipped and up to date on shots. Great price. Thank you.

Anita Brenberger

Not helpful at all!!!!!!! Would not tell me cost of anything up front except the office visit. And I knew exactly what I needed- vaccines and heartworm test.

Melvins Lady

Was looking for a puppy in the staff was very helpful in trying to find a puppy for me

Delmar Fisher

Today 6/01/18 we laid our Coco to rest.. We feel blessed to have had 10 wonderful years with our baby. Tears drop as I type this, but yet there's a smile on my face. We are so fortunate to have such a great Humane Society with a staff and Veterinarian's who show how much they care when consulting about your loved ones and taking care of them. Thank all of you for easing our pain and taking care of our baby as though she was your own... Heaven holds a place for our Coco and each and every one of you...

Vickie Golden

Got my sweet kitten Colby

Andre Gunn

I like what they do but I hate the fact they don't give allot of dogs a chance like they don't try to work with dog aggressiveness they automatically kill the dog yea its true I've spoken with someone who works there

Jasmine Benton

I have the most amazing Cat ever! I got her on Purrfect Thursday and its when you get a cat for 9 months or older! Well it was totally worth it. I have a cat just shy of a year and her name is Kelly. She is a great addition to my small family!

Adam Shay

Today they helped us find our new member of our family. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. They helped us find the perfect dog for my wife our 2 kids and myself. If you are looking for a new member of your family look no more. A rescue is the only way to go and it's the best destination my wife and I have made since we decided to have our kids.

John Walker

My daughter's dog was recently lost and picked up by a stranger. The staff was remarkable while dealing with us and the people who brought our pet in for care. Groomer Cindy went above and beyond to assure care and concern for all parties involved. She made certain our pet was very well taken care of and was returned to us. I thank you and your staff for putting a smile back on our face and taking care of "Snoopy". You all were amazing. Thank-you very much.

Mjkj

Love the fact that they put cages and for people to leave their surrendered animals and now they don't have to be left outside in the cold or the heat and that they immediately answer their emergency number

Katie Cole

Great staff, very knowledgeable. I just wish I knew more about how to train my dog and how to treat her anixety.

Roseanne Ahne

Staff and volunteers are doing a great job.

The staff is very friendly and very attentive to your pets needs. My little chewinnie had both ears with a ear infection and the Vet spotted it right away and prescribed ear drops and antibiotics to help with the pain. That was yesterday and today he's already up and running. Great Job. Thank you so much.

Love going here and getting a pet. I've been to this place ever since I was a kid. They seem to be doing well and have a great facility.

Took a dog home for a meet and greet. Thanks to the negligence of the hospital staff my dog is now infected with oral papilloma warts. Thanks alot. Maybe it's time you hire some competent people.

Shawn Stangler

Wonderful people with a sweet heart. We always adopt from shelters, usually this one since we've moved to Missouri. Fun, well thought out and importantly very educational

Steve Gilson

Good place to get a cat or dog

I thank the humane society for everything that they do. It's too bad there are so many ignorant irresponsible people who take an animal and mistreat or abandon them.

The adoption process was good. Staff were professional and helpful. However, I was encouraged to purchase a crate for my 55lb dog, and the cost was $89 but with the 10 % discount, it was $80. I also purchased two shirts. The volunteer did not inform me that crates cannot be returned even if never taken out of the box. I found I did not need the crate and when I returned it two days later to get a credit on my charge card, I was told for health reasons crates cannot be returned. When I explained that the box was unopened and that no one informed me of that policy, she pointed to a typed note on the counter that spelled it out. Unfortunately, I did not see the note likely because the shirts I purchased covered it. The staff person's remedy was to tell me that she would remind the volunteer to point this out next time. Too bad for me!

Took a very over whelming experience and helped us get through it would say that if you need to bring an animal here they will help in any way they can.

Adopted my puppy Peaky (Holden) March 3rd, called to make an appointment 3/08 to have is stitches removed had the option to come in that day or the following. 3/9 He started vomiting and had diarrhea, not eating that evening into the next day after having them removed. I called to bring him back in conveniently they were "short staffed" couldn't match any day or time we could come in was basically told we needed to take him to an emergency vet ($95 to walk in the door) and that because we had him for a certain period of time that they were not liable. $285 we spent on a puppy, we love him very much but we very much expected a healthy puppy. $285 you would expect a little more compassion once you walk out the door. $285 you would think they would understand that there are viruses and illnesses that have 7-10 day incubation periods. Do not adopt from here especially if you have other animals at home, there are plenty of other rescues with far less funding than the Humane Society, that are far more compassionate and understanding. Update: Peakys vet bill was $4400, he stayed there for 1 week. He stayed there longer than we had him before he was sick. He had pneumonia and wormms, with how long the worms were it is very much likely he had them before he was adopted. Our poor puppy was skin and bones by the time we picked him up, we've had him back a little over a week and he's just now the the fun loving outgoing pup that he was. The humane society should be ashamed.

Great shelter, horrible service over the phone. Dropped off a stray I found on St. Charles rock road and called the next day to check on her to receive responses from a clearly irritable staff person. I understand that when we drop them up that’s it but the way I was addressed was beyond ridiculous.

Staff were so gentle and kind. They were able to take in a stray I had found and welcomed her with open arms.... Warm place to finally rest her head, with a nice blanket and yummy food. I love this organization. I called the stray mamma, and hopefully will bring in some friends to adopt her. She gave me kisses and thank yous with hugs for saving her.
