My wife has taken our first cat we adopted to this establishment to get him treated for tapeworms that he had before we adopted him. She saw Dr. Randall and was very pleased with her. She has taken him back to her multiple times and is always pleased. We recently adopted another cat from the same place we adopted our other cat, and again has the same tapeworm problem. Dr. Randall wasn't in the day she was able to get her in. Due to this being urgent, she scheduled with Dr. Lavigne. She was very displeased with the way he treated her, and our cats. She said when he went to give them their shots he "just stabbed them and they both cried". He claims he had to be rough with them because they were struggling, but they were both laying on the table cooperating. Following this, instead of giving the cats their deworming medicine, he gave her the medicine and told her to "do it herself" with no instruction on how to. Before when she say Dr. Randall, she gave it to our cat right then and there. She is pleased with this practice with the overall environment and very friendly staff, but this experience with Dr. Lavigne has definitely hindered her views. We do plan on returning to this practice, but we are going to avoid Dr. Lavigne.

After thirteen years using this establishment, i can not do business here any longer. I appreciate the voicemail from the co-owner, but if you are truly apologetic and admit that it was your employees mistake, why would your customer be re-invoiced an additional amount? I am compassionate for the newer employees training requirements and that she did not understand how to use the computer system, but to send a bill weeks later to our house requesting an additional amount of money is absurd. The monetary amount is not the dissatisfaction. The fact that the co-owner himself would request his customer to pay for his companies error is atrocious. Again, thank you for the voicemail.

So we took our dog here about 6 months ago to get checked her out and we pointed out that she walked with a limp and sat oddly. The vet here gave her a once over and said, "That's just how pitbulls are, nothing to worry about." Now, half a year later, we find out that our 1 year old dog has severe hip dysplasia and arthritis. Our new vet said that this could've been helped earlier in her life. I am beyond furious at the lack of care that Bienville Animal Medical Center treated us with. This place is just a money making machine, with little care in the long term care of your animals.

I would like to personally thank your wonderful staff but mostly Dr. Jason Lavigne for the care given to all of my animals especially Epi and Norman over the years. Recently Norman became very ill and sadly he passed at the age of almost 13 years old. I have been so heart broken over his loss and recently adopted a new Devon Rex. I currently have four Sphynx and two Devon Rex whom all have been treated by Dr. Lavigne since 2013. I have also referred two people the last month to Dr. Lavigne, one with a Sphynx and the other a regular cat because he is such an amazing Veterinarian and your staff is always so nice to me and my babies. Epi was told by a specialist at Medvet I only had months left with her due to her condition but with the special care and monitoring Dr. Lavigne has given her, I still have her and that was years ago. I have utilized several veterinarians in the past and I am very cautious of whom cares for them as they are my kids and by far Dr. Lavigne is my all time favorite. Dr. Lavigne is always very thorough, very educated and always right on his diagnosis. What means as much to me as his expertise is his passion for my cats. He is always so devoted to their health and medical needs in a very dedicated way that means so much especially when you lose one. I know that was tough for Dr. Lavigne when Norman passed. He did everything possible to save him but it was his time to go. The look in his eye was that of a true dedicated veterinarian that was saddened to have to tell the heart breaking news to his client. I have shared with you before, I am a business owner myself and I take pride in what I do and I can assure you Dr. Lavigne is a huge asset to your establishment. I appreciate the kindness your staff has shown toward myself and my babies but I really appreciate the services I am rendered by Dr. Lavigne. We just wanted to publicly say thank you to Dr. King at Bienville Animal Clinic. We have a 12 year old lab who has a history of severe allergies which have caused a lot of complications over the years. This past week we brought him in for some intestinal issues and were seen by Dr. King. Dr. King spent 30 minutes with us, sitting on the floor with Doc (because he is extremely weary of the vet), examining him, and asking me several questions. Dr. King was remarkably patient and kind and refreshing. She helped normalize the situation and really listened. Thank you Dr. King, we've found the right vet for our pups.

I will never forget nor forgive the treatment of my poor Bobo. To your incompetent uncaring staff he was a number to your doctors it was all about $$$. He needlessly suffered just so your doctors could bleed an upset petowner more $$. After the sudden onset of an acute illness I took him to a different vet. Brought his labs from the other vet to Bienville with a extremely high wbc & asked Dr Burdette if he could be saved or was it time to end his suffering. Of course it was more test & handed his “care” off to the ultrasound expert. More needless poking prodding and techs dragging him throughout the clinic. He suffered an addition 6 hrs while the “expert” was saving a baby racoon. He should have been a priority! After him suffering all those hours before being blown off for a baby raccoon,after my repeatedly calling urging for his treatment to uncaring front staff, he was finally seen & given an ultrasound. Dr Stacey advised he atleast stay the wknd. Again I insisted if he cant b saved then please euthanize. She stated her own dog made a comeback from a simliar illness. Not the case for my poor Bobo. End result was he passed,I took him there at 10 am, waited for the 2nd Dr who didnt see him til 5:30 pm, last saw him alive at 6pm that Fri night with plans of taking his “babies” & blankie in Saturday a.m. Got the vmail from Dr Dukes at 7am Saturday morning. Called Dr Dukes bk through the ridiculous answering service. I expressed my anger how this is exactly how I didnt want him to pass,why was I given false hope when I was ready to let the suffering stop? Dr Dukes said judging by his labs he was critical when I brought him there. Well then why wasnt it determined from the beginning,his 1st dr should have had enough education & experience to make the judgement call to euthanize. He said he’d look into it but nothing further came from it. Then theres idiot staff that couldnt get his name right or my name right, calling wanting to settle bill. When I arrived upset because he was clearly worse & my heart knew it was time to let go, I expressed I didnt want a dr to talk me into more test & it was prob time,the front desk staff bragged about what great dr.s they had & they wouldnt do that. I took him to Bienville within 2days of seeing another vet, for a second opinion because of such high reviews & their claims of emergency tx. I expressed to Dr B within the 1st 10 mins,I didnt want him to further suffer. Their “experts”should have seen by the labs I brought them he was too far gone & euthanized him rather than prolonged his suffering & gouging my wallet. They saw me crying on the floor with him & took advantage. And the front staff couldnt have been more uncaring after his suffering & during his creamation arrangements. They held my poor guys remains captive until every red cent was paid & was sooo tacky about it. Its taken me almost 2 yrs to write this. I cant even look at the place when I drive by. Theres so much more to this but the bottom line was all about $$$ and incompetence from front staff to the doctors. I’ll never entrust my other dogs to that place.

The staff was great and the price for the actual visit was very competitive with other vet offices. I had 2 separate appointments. The first one I waited over 45 minutes before being seen and the second I waited 1.5 hours, not including showing up 10 minutes early for paperwork. I understand emergencies happen but it would have been nice to be informed the wait time and offered a solution (being seen by a different vet; make a different appointment), especially since other people were seen before me- even walk-ins. Just bring a book or something to entertain yourself. Also, I suggest purchasing medications elsewhere. I was able to find both flea and heart worm medications online for $75 cheaper. Update: I just saw the follow up review Dr. Duke posted about trying to contact me. So, to you, Dr. Duke: I understand saving an animal’s life will take president over a routine checkup appointment. However, this happened twice (per my original review describing). Regarding you attempting to contact me, you must have the wrong number in your records because I NEVER received missed phone calls, much less voicemails, from you nor your office. I’m not trying to get any sort of compensation. It’s not about trying to get free stuff. I think you have a great office and staff but next time I will be better prepared for the wait. I have zero intention of trying to blast your business but these were actual experiences that occurred. If you’d like to discuss is further, please contact me. You have all my information.

I just want to say that Bienville Animal has been taking care of my fur children for years. I have also been rescuing animals for the past 7 years. I as all animal rescue people should know that rescuing an animal is like purchasing a used car, you don't know where it's been or what vaccines or care that the animal has had prior to rescue. Someone apparently is pointing the finger at the wrong person ( JOSH Q) These vets have gone above and beyond to help local recuses and shelters everyday. They have some pretty high tech equipment. All seven vets have a heart of gold and are truly compassionate for your fur children. Hey sometimes you get more than one veterinary's professional opinion. I recommend them to anyone new to the area or that is looking for a new veterinary

I called to get some information on their location around 8pm and a real person answered. I asked my question and the line went dead. I thought that something happend, so I called back. They answered the same way and I said "I think we were cut off" and started to ask my question again and the line went dead again. We've been using Bienville Animal Medical Center for over 5 years now. We don't trust anyone else with the care of our K9 family members. During an autumn trip up the East Coast in 2008, we boarded our two Boston Terriers with BAMC. Nina (the female) ingested poison at our home the day before we left and she became violently ill during our trip. BAMC was in constant contact during the whole ordeal. Nina died 3 times on the table in their clinic - and they brought her back 3 times. There was no stone left unturned, and no avenue they didn't explore to treat her. She's made a full recovery and is still with us today. Which is why we drive from Jacksonville, FL to BAMC in Ocean Springs, MS for our furry friends' healthcare, wellness, and boarding needs. Wouldn't ever trust anyone else.

I am so grateful for Bienville Animal Clinic. We adopted a dog from the ocean springs shelter. The surgery site for her neutering had only 2 stitches. They gave her to me with no pain meds, no instructions and her wound was not closed. I made a next day appointment here and they took such amazing care of us. They have been our vet for 2 years now. They are open on Saturday’s. They have lab and X-ray capabilities and their providers know what they are looking at (we also have a geriatric cat). They are reasonably priced, although I have spent a lot of money here over the years (pets are expensive).

We adopted our dog from the humane society the day after Bienville performed his neutering. When we took him in for his complimentary health evaluation, they misdiagnosed him with Kennel Cough when he actually had Parvo. They didn't even bother testing for Parvo. Because of their negligence, our dog almost died and we are stuck with a $1400 emergency vet bill to save our dogs life. The emergency vet also told us that Bienville only removed ONE of our dogs testicles and MISSED the other. Our dog has been through enough trauma and we will not be taking him back to Bienville. Beware.

Usually folks can't find time to give credit to those who deserve it. But I am making time to say good things about Bienville Animal Clinic. My Doberman was taken here to have his ears cropped and Dr Palmetto did a fantastic job! Also Dr Palmetto showed very personal service by contacting me himself not once, but twice to update me on my Dobermans status. After taking my Doberman home and unfortunate incident occurred when another dog at home pulled the bandage casts off of my dobermans ears. Back to Dr Palmetto we went! He showed us such great mercy and said we are going to have to put the Doberman back under and fix his ears again, also keep him over night. Dr Palmetto said he would not accept payment for this because it was just unfortunate that I just paid for this once. He did not charge me for the 2nd trip to fix Samson's ears. There are few good businesses still around and this is one honest and well managed business I will say. Thank you Bienville for your perfect service to Samson! Chris Lane

One of the BEST vets we've been to. They help many rescue organizations and are involved in the community. The practice is large so it's no problem getting an appointment. They even stay open late and open Saturdays for us working pet parents. We have one dog with fear aggression that most people refused to treat. They are compassionate and work with her so even she has a good experience. They have online tools which make pet care easier. It's just a great one stop shop for any pet owner.

This post is a rebuttal of the unfair thrashing we took as a veterinary clinic three weeks ago at the hands of "Josh Q". As co-owner of Bienville Animal Medical Center, I now must respond to the accusation that our veterinarians "misdiagnosed" his puppy's illness. Now that all facts have come to light, it is only fair that I respond, since Google allows for this type of posting without validation. I personally responded to their complaint call off-line as soon as I was made aware of the situation. I immediately made an offer to personally provide a free exam and any ancillary services to rectify the situation. The person posting failed to communicate that a tentative parvovirus diagnosis was made over a full week later after one of our veterinarians had seen the puppy for a post-adoption exam, diagnosed an upper respiratory infection, and prescribed antibiotics. To address the choice they made to go to the emergency veterinary clinic, I can safely say that after reviewing the records provided to me by that clinic, the parvovirus diagnosis was still in question. The key symptoms of parvovirus are diarrhea, vomiting and anorexia. This puppy never manifested these classic gastrointestinal symptoms. Furthermore, the white blood cell count was 25,000-a leukocytosis, which is a far cry from parvovirus-related leaukopenias, whereas white cell counts regularly drop very low-under 3500. According to the emergency hospital records, the puppy was promptly discharged the next morning from a night-before admission. A parvovirus case? Highly unlikely. In the phone conversation, the client asked why the puppy was neither tested out for parvovirus by our veterinarian the week before, or by the Jackson County Animal Shelter. My answer was that unless a puppy shows the triad ( or at least two of the) symptoms (mentioned above), there is no reason for this type of testing. Besides, whether in a shelter or practice environment while puppies appear quite healthy, testing every puppy for parvovirus is cost prohibitive. Finally, I must address the accusation that our veterinarian, who performed the neuter on this puppy weeks before for the JCAS, left a testicle in the scrotum. This is simply not true. I believe my veterinarian and I believe her medical records. When I made an offer to give a free exam to these folks, I went so far as to offer complimentary lab work and even surgery to correct the situation if it was deemed necessary. Once again, I was never given the opportunity. Since Google chose not to see their negative post as the collection of unsubstantiated accusations that it was, I will leave final judgment to you-the intelligent blog readers. I must leave you with three points to ponder, in fairness: 1) Why, despite a free invitation, did these dog owners refuse to return? Keep in mind that since that phone discussion, these folks have not, and apparently will not darken our doors. I also put out during the discussion that if another veterinarian from our community substantiated their complaints and called me to discuss them, I would profusely apologize and make it right regardless of how the services were done by whomever. No veterinarian has called me in the last three weeks. 2) In their post, it seems that their biggest complaint was the cost of care at the emergency hospital. Could this be misdirected angst? By the way, you guessed it: the emergency hospital dispensed more antibiotics for this puppy! 3) Finally, it may be 2014, and using a computer keyboard as a weapon to damage reputations may make some people feel relevant and powerful. However, I will stake the reputation of our veterinarians and staff on the fact that these folks were treated fairly and professionally by Bienville Animal Medical Center-as ALL of our veterinary clients are. I truly believe that I did all I could humanly do.

In the last 3 months he has personally assisted us on 2 occasions with the most difficult decision a responsible pet owner has to make. In November we had the difficult decision to make for our 15 years old male Scottish Terrier, Angus. Dr. Palermo's insight as to Angus's condition and his caring and wonderful bed side manner made a most difficult decision bearable. Today we had the occasion to call on him again in the difficult decision to do the right thing for our 12 year old female Scottie, Darby. Once again Dr. Palermo's insight and caring way made this decision one that was not regrettable. I and my family owe Dr. Palermo and his staff at Bienville a lifetime of thanks and appreciation. We have been a part of the Bienville family for many years, They are the BEST!!!

This is not the place for your loved ones. First of all been with them for three years and was always wondering why there vets never stayed at this establishment. They are nothing more than a training facility and a drug rep super haven. Long story short they misdiagnosed my pit, he died 6 days after they put him on a liver medication after the vet said no worries yet. And turns out they mis diagnosed his ACL wich he pulled and was in pain for over a year. They tried telling me it was his groin. This came to light after his passing. I hate this place. You stole my best friend.

This is a high volume pet clinic which is run like an assembly line to maximize efficiency and profit. They have a large staff and it's not uncommon to see 10+ staff members behind the counter. The final bill will often be higher than what you were quoted and they seem to employ "bait and switch" tactics to get more money out of you. I was basically transferred to them a few years ago after my smaller clinic was absorbed by them. The medical staff seems pretty competent, but the front office staff, not so much. I was recently the victim of a "bait and switch" move. When I complained, I was basically told that this is how it is and if you don't like it you can leave. If I had not been standing there with my very stressed out pet in his carrier, I would have, but he needed his booster shot. It was a very bad experience for the both of us. It cost me more money and time to get the same result and I felt like I had been ripped off and treated very unfairly. I later called the clinic to set up an appointment with the office manager and I was told that she was not available. I was told that she would call me back and she never did. I'll be filing complaints with the BBB and the Chamber of Commerce. 7/29/2019 You say that you have been trying to contact me?? One has to wonder how since I've been in your computer system for many years and you have all of my contact info. You haven't called me, emailed me or sent me a letter, nothing. You ask me to contact you and yet when I did I was placed on hold for a long time before being told that you weren't available to take my call and that you would call me back; which you never did. I had called your office to make an appointment and your employee looked me up in your system and asked me what I wanted to come in for. I told her and she said that was fine and she scheduled an appointment for me. When I showed up for the appointment, you refused to honor it and were actually very rude to me about it. Even though it was entirely your fault, you simply canceled my appointment and treated me as a walkin, which I wasn't because I had an appointment. You didn't even have the common courtesy to tell me this until about 40 minutes later when I started asking what was going on. You then said that I could be waiting for up to another two hours and that if I didn't like it I could leave and make another appointment for some other time. It was a terrible experience and I simply couldn't believe that I was being treated like this especially since it was entirely your fault and I had done absolutely nothing wrong. I had simply shown up for an appointment that your office had scheduled for me. When I scheduled the appointment, I had clearly stated what I was coming in for. This was some of the worst customer service that I have ever witnessed. If you have poorly trained employees scheduling appointments for your office, you don't take their mistakes out on some innocent customer and their pet. Disgraceful. Shame on you people.

The doctors and staff are professional and caring. I have been bringing my pets to Bienville Animal Medical Center since 1998. I have never experienced a problem. They are quite busy because of their fine reputation so sometimes the lobby can get crowded but the patient flow is smooth and well paced. Over the years I have had three elderly pets that have been euthanized at Bienville Animal Medical Center Even these difficult times were easier to cope with because of the compassionate attitude of everyone there. I highly recommend Bienville Animal Medical Center to anyone who wants quality care for their pets.

We are new to the area and called for an appointment for my sick pet. I asked if anything was available for the same day and explained he was very sick. I was told there were no appointments available which i absolutely understand. The part that shocked me was when I was told we could be worked in for a $25 fee!! That is absolutely absurd! I have worked in this industry for over 10 years and most of it at an AAHA accredited hospital. I have never heard of such a money making policy before. If you are able to work someone in, then there should not be an additional charge for it. You are losing money because we went elsewhere and was able to be worked in with no “work-in” fee. This gives me the feeling that this establishment cares more about profit then the well being of my pet. The truth is there are not alot of other animal hospitals in this area and that is being used to their advantage. Such a shame.

They found time to squeeze my chorky in for a visit when she was suffering from tick paralysis and made a prompt and accurate diagnosis.
