Too many choices in Hattiesburg to use this vet. New to the area, I took my dog here for a simple checkup. They called to let me know of a "life-threatening" situation that had to be addressed immediately. The cost of the surgery was over 2000.00. Then they charged for each required follow up visit. I have since learned that the procedure was not life threatening and at most vets would be approximately 500.00. Furthermore, to claim to care so deeply about my dog, I have not received a call (in two months time passed) to check on my pet's progress. This group is only in practice for the money. Overpriced and underwhelming is the impression I have of this vet office.

I have brought my dog, Larry, into this facility twice now, and I trust the doctors and professionals who work there to do what is in the best interest of my dog. He has a lot of anxiety, and they are always accommodating of that--whether it's a private waiting room away from the other animals, or getting on his level to make him feel at ease, I have never felt more comfortable with new people interacting with Larry. I would highly recommend this place if you are having health issues with your animal because let's face it, if you have a pet, you want to do anything to can to help them feel better when they are sick or needing medical attention.

I purchased my fur baby from Love at First Sight. She’s received all of her services at Animal Medical Clinic. The staff is super friendly and professional. The clinic also believes in serving the community. As a former supervisor of a center that serves the intellectually and developmentally impaired I called to ask the staff at Animal Medical Clinic if they would give my clients a tour and they did with open arms, and even allowed them to spend time with a therapy dog. That meant a lot to me and I knew then that my sweet Sephorah was being taken care of by people who have a heart to serve. Needless to say I LOVE THIS CLINIC.

We have used Animal Medical for 10 years now and they are great. Everyone is friendly, our basset hound loves to give each person that comes in contact with her kisses. They fixed her front left leg when she was 2 yrs old, it has stopped growing and was a lot smaller in width than her right leg. If you look at her legs now, you would have never known one was smaller than the other. I love that they are also a hospital and boarding. This way my pet doesn't have to be scared if she has to stay overnight there for any reason. She already knows all the staff.

I took my dog to Animal Medical Center for the first year of his life for routine care, vaccinations, and visits for stomach troubles, rashes, etc. that came up over that course of time. Dr. Morris and Dr. Crawford quickly ended up being my favorites (though I don't think I saw every vet they have on staff for full disclosure), and I hoped to be able to see them each time. Otherwise, however, the care I received tended to be very uneven. I invested in their wellness plan and used it to its fullest, but I was often given medication with no explanation as to what it was for, why it was chosen, what the diagnosis was, etc. I came in for the dewormer every three months on schedule and repeatedly asked what the medication was (so I could see if I could buy it myself from their online pharmacy after our wellness plan was up) and I was given vague answers each time like they didn't want me going "elsewhere" with my business. I had to Google the medications they gave me every time based on the labels and see if I could figure out what they were even supposed to do. Side effects were never discussed with me unless I asked (unless I saw Dr. Morris or Dr. Crawford- none of these criticisms ever applied to them in my experience). When they couldn't come to a firm diagnosis (stool samples came back negative, etc.) then they would load me up with five different treatments and hope one worked- while one always would, I would end up with a $300 bill for this guessing game many times and still wouldn't have any answers as to what the problem actually was or how to prevent it from happening again. When it came to vaccinations, this dog is my first raised from a puppy and therefore I placed a lot of trust in Animal Medical Center for education on what they recommended. After my puppy's second round of shots, I was told he would only need one more. But when I came back for the next round, they said the previous vet didn't know what they were talking about and that he actually needed another round. I'm not bothered by more shots, but I am bothered that the vets couldn't seem to come to a consensus beforehand about how many rounds of shots my dog would need. On his actual final round of shots, I had done research to determine that he would need to wait one week before he was "fully protected" from parvo and could socialize with other dogs at the dog park, etc. But when I asked the vet tech to confirm this information, she said "oh no, he can totally go ahead. he's fully protected right now." When the vet entered the room, I asked the same question to him and he confirmed that I needed to wait another week. It felt at times like I didn't know who was a trustworthy source of information and who was just making it up on the fly. On a more positive note, I had very good experiences with boarding my dog. They always sent me pictures and text updates as I requested them and he seemed very happy to be there. Daycare tended to be a very good experience as well, although I do wish the dogs had more room. The small dog section is essentially completely outside and largely concrete- making burning their paw pads on the hot ground much more likely. In the same vein, if it rains then it seems like their only option is to cramp all the dogs into a tiny little covered space at the entrance of the daycare where they have no room to play. Despite these potential issues, my dog personally never had any problems the dozen or so times he went there. He also seemed to enjoy it very much. In all, I would say my experience was a mixed bag. There are some excellent vets and staff members who made me and my dog feel very welcome and cared for- but there were also others who made me feel like my dog wasn't their priority during appointments and I sometimes felt belittled by the staff for asking questions and wanting to know more. The facilities always looked clean and I love that they're open 24 hours- but if you choose Animal Medical Center for your dog's care, try to pick Dr. Morris or Dr. Crawford for the best experience and make sure your wallet is full.

I took a relatives dog to Animal Medical Center and I am very pleased with our experience there. The vet gave options for treating the dog at home or the option of leaving him with them for treatment. The boarding fee was affordable so I elected to leave the dog there for treatment. I visited the dog a few times while he was being treated and found the staff to be incredibly accommodating, friendly and professional. I saw two vets there and they were both helpful with information. I spoke with other pet parents while waiting in the waiting area and all had positive things to say about the care they have received for their pets. Some say that Animal Medical Center is expensive. I don't have a lot of experience with costs at vets but can say that I felt our experience with this incident that required medical treatment for this dog was affordable. I was not shocked by the price and after having such a good experience with Animal Medical Center, felt comfortable with the price and have no regrets. The facility is clean, the staff organized and professional. Being new to the area and needing a local vet, I'm going to use Animal Medical Center for my 3 dogs.

I adopted my sweet little fur baby from here and they were so sweet and helpful. They were sad to see her go but happy that she found a family. It just shows how much they care for the animals. I got concerned when my fur baby wasn't eating well a few days after bringing her home and they fit me in and reassured me that she is okay and gave me "puppy 101" which was a big help. It was a big sigh of relief to finally see her eating. They even told me about some up coming classes that they thought I would be interested in! Every time I bring in my sweet Gracie Belle for a visit the workers from the Adoption side remembers her and she gets just as excited to see them too. This has been a wonderful experience. If your looking to adopt or just looking for a vet I would recommend this place!!

I brought my new puppy to the clinic for his first round of shots, and he was very shy and reserved. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and really worked with my pup to make him feel comfortable and safe while making sure he received the proper meds and vaccines. Setting up my next vaccination round was so simple, and the payment process was equally as easy. I cannot recommend this facility and it's staff highly enough!

I was visiting my family when my Pomeranian slipped on hardwood and knocked his hip out of place. He’s 14 and had a previous injury like this two year ago. I brought him to this vet bc it was the closest and I didn’t want to wait to take him to his own vet if he is in pain. The staff at the desk and the vet tech were amazing, however Dr. Morris made the visit incredibly unpleasant. I answered the preliminary questions of what happened with the vet tech, and then I answered the same questions with Dr. Morris.... multiple times. He kept making statements of “I don’t know” and “I guess his hip may be out.” I made it clear that I knew it was out and I wanted him taken care of. I had to get firm because for whatever reason Dr. Morris was choosing to not listen to me and would rather keep asking the same questions repeatedly. The vet tech, I hate I don’t remember her name because she was amazing, took my baby in the back for an X-ray. I explained to Dr. Morris that it was frustrating to have to repeatedly answer the same questions and be made to feel like either he wasn’t listening or he didn’t believe me. Then he made the biggest mistake anyone working with the public could make. He said, and I quote, “Hey I’m trying to help you. You don’t have to be a....” Now, he didn’t finish that statement, but he was leaving it open for interpretation and slammed the door on his way out. Now, keep in mind.. I had on a T-shirt and a pair of shorts, no make up, and a messy bun... so I understand that he didn’t regard me as being important and he can speak to me however he chooses. Then he tries to say he felt we got off on the wrong foot. I told him the truth, “yes we did and this has been an incredibly unpleasant experience for me and this is why.” He tried to deny saying the statement, saying he would never use that word.. however, I corrected him and reminded him he didn’t use a word. He left the sentence open and that’s a huge mistake.. because to be honest, I’m a business woman and I would never speak to my people the way he spoke to me. That statement alone was enough to make the average person lose their temper. I paid my bill and had them fax the information over to my vet, where I and my pup are treated nicely and not disregarded. I would not recommend this establishment solely based on Dr. Morris. However, the vet tech made up for his lack of bedside manner and tact. That is the only reason I am giving two stars, because of her, but even she couldn’t save this review and make it higher.

The Doctors and team members at Animal Medical Center of Hattiesburg are so caring and are taking wonderful care of my "Little Tippy". She was transferred to this location after being stabilized from being hit by a automobile about 10 minutes from closing time at the facility in Petal late this evening. He stayed 3 nights and each morning I received a text with a picture of my dog and a brief message, which really provided some peace of mind knowing that he was in good hands! I drove from Laurel to Hattiesburg because my dog was in a lot of pain. The vet who was on call came in and barely looked at her to give her an exam and told me that she had gas. I told her I thought it was her back and she talked to me like I was ignorant and acted as if I was wasting her time. I paid almost $300 and was sent home with 3 medicines. After 2 days of no improvement and her crying out, I went with my gut and took her to her normal vet and it was 100% her back that was causing her so much pain. I don’t appreciate the way that I was treated or the fact that I had to pay almost $300 for a misdiagnosis.

I wish there was a way to leave a less than one star rating for this clinic. I have brought 3 of my most beloved cats to this clinic, and ALL 3 LEFT IN CASKETS!!!! Memphis, Elliot, and Merida are now resting in peace. Each one gone before their 5th birthday. I brought my most precious family pets for treatment with no other options and left with bodies and a huge bill. Not once. Not twice. THREE TIMES!!!! All they seem to do is make random guesses about what MIGHT be wrong, and run every possible test they can think of and charge you outrageously. They have no real concern or compassion for the pets they treat or the people who love them. There are no words to describe the heartbreak I feel just driving past this place. I had brought my dog in on Friday night due to her being unresponsive and not breathing. I am not established with this clinic or anything like that but they are open after hours. Dr. Wilson was very kind and understanding to me in my situation and was obviously trying to find out what was going on with my dog Pepper. She ended up passing away late that night. I called back the next morning to discuss my options and my bill. The receptionist who answered the phone was not very friendly or sympathetic. Now I'm a receptionist as well and I do understand seeing the same things every day and how you may become immune to those situations. Regardless I came in later that day to pick up my dog and also to pay my bill, I was still obviously mourning and very upset. She showed no kindness and appeared very rude. She asked multiple times if we were going to pay our bill in full (which they do not offer payment plans in house). I stated each time that we were going to. I felt judged and it seemed as if she didn't believe we were going to pay it. As someone who works as a receptionist I just felt I could have been treated better and with more sympathy when experiencing such a terrible situation as losing a dog. I do appreciate Dr. Wilson and his nurse who we spoke with Friday night but I gave 4 stars for the poor customer service from the receptionist when picking my deceased dog up Saturday morning.

Our little boy had 2 cysts on his eye and he was in a lot of pain, we took him in and they did his surgery that same day! His eye has healed and it looks awesome. We went on a cross country trip and our little girl ended up sneezing and not feeling really good, we were able to get her in right away and found out she had a fever and a sinus infection. They are really good and always get you in ASAP. Just love that we found this Vet after moving to Hattiesburg.

I'm a first time fur baby mama to a Shichon. The Animal Medical Center helped me make the huge transition of being responsible for and taking care of my puppy. My pup was a surprise Christmas morning gift that my husband got from love at first sight. So, the center has been a part of my fur baby's life before I even knew he was mine. So, I can't imagine anyone else taking care of him. Lastly, if it wasn't for the plans the center offers it would not be easy financially to take proper care of my baby. I can't say enough about The Animal Medical Center.

Dr. Scott is phenomenal. We weren’t acclimated with the area. My dog was experiencing a serious affliction that was dire. Because this is an “ER”, and it was a Friday night, we landed here. Since the incident, we have remained under the health care and advisement of Dr. Scott. We consider ourselves fortunate to have found such a great and well-educated veterinarian. (Adding to this review, months later) I have a cat, Yoda. Yoda man is 16 years young and was in the throws of bladder disease when I brought him into the er. After a sonogram, ct scan, it was also discovered that he had a mass on his liver. Yikes! Dr. Mayfield Sr. Was assigned to the case. The lobe on the liver was removed. Yoda man is being treated for his bladder disease. His energy and appetite are back like nothing ever happened. I’m so grateful for this “light on the hill”. The staff are all accommodating and own and LOVE pets like we do. The Christian, loving, atmosphere is felt in spades. I’ve had the privilege of working with many of the vet techs and lab, Marti, Taylre, Mary Haylee, Keri, Stephanie, and others whose names I’ve not learned yet. They care. Don’t hesitate to bring your pet here for the best care. ♥️♥️♥️

Well we took my cat here and spent over $2000 and got absolutely NO answers every time we came back there was a different “problem”. Then we tried to get information sent to another vet and the “system was down” and they couldn’t help so we have to pay even more than $2000 at a real vet to actually get answers and get my cat better. I highly recommend ANY vet but them cause they will charge 4x more than anywhere else and continually tell you something different is wrong without actually ever solving the problem(your sick/injured pet)

They send updates via email as to when my pets cyclic vaccinations are due and they offer many different options in monthly medicals and boarding options. Would recommend to everyone!

Our little Ashe was a patient of Animal Medical Center before he and his mom moved away. His mom said they were always so good with him and so professional. We all struggled with changing clinics for convenience, but decided the drive was worth the wonderful care he received before. Upon return we knew we made the right decision for his annual checkup. As his grandparents, taking him in for the first time, we were as equally impressed as his mom had told us. From the reception desk to nurse to doctor was the sweetest, most friendly people! You know how us grandparents are about our grand babies!!! We could not have been more pleased! Of course Ashe says Grands are NOT supposed to let them stick him with needles, or some other not to be talked about things! But the treats were OK! Definitely worth the drive! We would highly recommend this clinic!

A longtime customer of the hospital had purchased a couple of cats from my wife and I and we got to know the hospital through t6heir longtime customer. The hospital and staff were the kind of folks we would recommend taking your pet to for vaccinations, check-ups and about anything that your pet could want or need. Alternatives are offered payment options are available and there are no surprises. Animal Medical Center is staffed with compassionate highly trained Veterinarians, and outstanding Vet Techs. They are equiped to handle any pet emergency or critical care case 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The Vets routinely handle Emergency medical cases of critical, surgery, endoscopy, dental, internal medicine, cardiology, eye care, canine rehab, wound care with hyperbarics, and neurology. The life saving emergency care provided for my dog was without delay. The ICU area and Hospital Acute care is staffed 24/7 with highly trained personnel and life sustaining equipment such as IV pumps, Flexible Endoscope, Blood Transfusion Program, Xray, Lab, Bear Huggers, Anesthesia Team, Surgical Intervention, Cardiac Intervention. There is a team approach to care and since there are10 Veterinarians a vast amount of expertise and knowledge is available for difficult cases. The entire staff was friendly, smiling, and repectful to us during this difficult time. I was able to and encouraged to visit my little companion dog anytime day and night. It never seemed a burden to the staff no matter how busy the clinic was or how late at night I came. I don’t know why anyone would go anywhere else for their pets rountine care since you never know when an emergency will occur. How nice to go to the clinic familiar with your pets history, meds, and previous issues. I was extremely impressed with Dr. Prevost who initiated the life sustaining treatments to my dog. Being only 3.7 pounds he is no bigger than a premature baby and was extremely fragile. He triaged my pet immediately starting an IV, drawing labs, xray done, fluids, antibiotics, antinausea meds, etc. He was honest, compassionate and knowledgeable. He was confident in his delivery of care and I trusted him. Dr. Prevost and Dr Mayfield lll discussed my pets case and a decision was made to perform an Endoscopy in order to diagnose and treat the GI Bleed. Dr. Mayfield lll and the Anesthesia Team came in to the Emergency Clinic on Sunday to do the scope. There were no delays no waiting. Pets are cared for with the utmost quality, a highly trained staff, and coalition of Veterinary specialists, using the latest innovations and equipment. They understand that your pet is a member of your family and how stressful the illness is not only to the pet but to you. Every thing is discussed options given, progress, prognosis and potential outcomes everything the good, the bad, and the ugly. There are no surprises. I am convinced they saved my Little Steppenwolf he is home doing well because of the care received. As a career Critical care nurse my expectations were high but this team met them on every level. These professionals are on the top of their game and constantly looking for ways to improve their processes and the quality of care delivered. If you are dissatisfied or have concerns the Vet or Office Manager are happy to discuss it with you and resolve any issue. My family is grateful for this clinic and the life saving quality care they provided to our little dog Steppenwolf.

This vet is fantastic. I drove to this vet 2 hours each way from where I live to get a CCL surgery for my dog. I talked with Dr Mayfield over the phone and he was extremely helpful and understanding. The other vet and staff that I talked with were very nice as well. I can tell they are busy at this location and sometimes I had to wait a bit longer than expected, but the care I got for my dog was easily worth it. If any staff member reads this please let Dr Mayfield know that Petey is doing well and is running with his brother and sisters with no problem!

I personally do not vet with these guys and there’s plenty of reasons why. Sadly my parents got convinced to sign up for the insurance which is a total scam. But I’m most often the one who brings my parents dog in for anything. Thankfully they will be free of the “insurance” in a few months. This most recent incident was with my parents dog that I dropped off for boarding. They are just about the rudest, most stuck up people I have ever dealt with. There is no connection with pet parents and they act like you are a burden to them. They were not busy and I had the simple task of picking my dog up and I could not have felt more unwelcome or looked down on. And I’m saying this as a normal looking human. I’m not a visible meth head or anything and I was trying to be very polite but any question I asked was a stupid one to them. I don’t feel like my animals are in good hands with them. Their prices are so ridiculous as well. For anything. It makes me sick that they have their own credit line to make you think they are helping you pay for anything but really if you would just go anywhere else you’d get better service and a cheaper price. I’ve been to many vet offices and I regularly go to my own, but animal medical, at both locations, petal and Hattiesburg, is a joke. It’s sad that people think because they pay more they are getting everything better. just hoping you guys actually treat your elderly patients with more consideration than me and you’re not draining them of every penny just because you know you can. I will go anywhere else before I come here again.

I cannot recommend this clinic highly enough for the cleanliness of the facilities, the customer service, the one on one approach they take with every visit, and the positive atmosphere. We regularly board our Spaniel here, and he can be a little "nervous" around other people, we always can tell he's been taken great care of when we pick him up. If you love your fur babies, this is the place to go! I have a Golden and a Husky and the entire staff treats them like their own. I don't even have a vet preference is how much I love, trust, and respect the entire staff. They love animals and take great care of them. Can get a bit pricey sometimes though, but they do offer financing through Wells Fargo. I guess that hefty price tag comes with this being an emergency facility. If you want to save money on surgery, look for a normal vet. checkups and visits are reasonably priced from my experience though.

I’m driving and I have the unfortunate experience of seeing a poor dog getting hit by a car outside of Sumrall. I stopped to check on her and she was still breathing but obviously very hurt. I put her in my car and take her all the way to this vet because it’s night and the only emergency vet I can think of. Before this they were also my vet for my dog. I arrived and the poor dog had miraculously survived the trip. After waiting for what seemed like an eternity for someone to help me get her inside, she’s taken in the back where after just a few minutes I’m presented with an “estimate “ of over 900 dollars to save this poor animal I didn’t have that much money so I’m invited to fill out credit applications to finance the money needed to save this poor animal. I was willing to take on the debt considering I had no connection with the animal except for trying to give it a chance to live. I was not approved for there financing, so the only alternative I have at this point is to have her put down and pay them 72 dollars for that AND I get to take her body with me and dispose of it!! Oh and my 11 year old son got to witness all of this. This is not going to be my vet for my dog any longer. I refuse to do business with such cold hearted people. I’m going to make sure that everyone I can tell will hear this story. They don’t care about you they don’t care about animals they only care about getting as much money from you as they can.

I live in two places and have many choices for vets and the skill set of the vets, the incredible facility and the friendliness of the staff surpass anywhere I have ever been and I am a heavy traveller. I personally do not want to ever take my pets (who are the only children i will ever have) to the discount vet.
