My golden retriever sliced her leg on something very sharp out in the woods. They saw her the moment she was brought in. She was anesthesized and extensive sewing had to be done. The bandaging was beautifully done so that she did not need to wear a cone. They saw her for two follow-up visits, even on a Sunday. They are the best!

"When I moved back to New York City in early 2017 the first thing I did was look for a vet for Mr. Squeak, my ginger kitty. I selected Westside Veterinary Center, because it is a full service care center not far from home. I knew as soon as I walked in that I had made a good choice. Reception is staffed by very caring personnel. The appointment times are honored judiciously, meaning there is rarely a wait of more than 10 -15 minutes. Good luck telling twins Gina and Tina apart! But they're both calm and very sweet. Mr. Squeak's vet is Dr. Cantor, knowledgeable and compassionate, a highly trained and consummate professional. There is an onsite pharmacy and lab. Examining rooms are clean and bright. You can get full medical care, even surgery, plus dental as well. And there is a nice feeling of warmth and acceptance when you arrive. Any non-medical problems and Murray ‘The Fixer,’ who is also the office manager, will take care of it in no time. I highly recommend this center. You're in good hands at Westside Veterinary." I barely write reviews especially negative ones. But I'll give 0 star if I could this time. The nurse is super unprofessional and hang up on me while I was talking. My cat is suffering an health issue this morning and need a vet asap. They have walk-ins but she rudely interrupted me and told me: "Even you come I won't have a doctor for you. You can do whatever you want." The whole conversation lasted for 2 mins and she said she has another call come in and directly hang up. Didn't go there and don't know about the doctor, but you will NEVER want to deal with nurses like this who doesn't want to spend 2 mins and shows no care of your beloved ones.

I have been with Dr. Napolitano at Westside Veterinary Center for 20 years and the care and expertise shown to my pets has always been superlative. My cats of 18 years were treated wonderfully and in the end stages of their lives made comfortable and when it came down to saying goodbye, we were treated with dignity and could have all the time in the world as we said goodbye. Our dog was viciously attacked and required very serious surgeries and Dr. Kosovsky proved to be exceptional and explained everything fully prior to any procedure. Our dog today is just fine and loves life. Also, a true sign to me, our dog runs into the office, even after all of her surgeries and trauma without any hesitation. The staff is always pleasant and I can't express enough how grateful I am for Westide Vetrinary Center. My experiece has always been positive.

For the love of Animals

Our first appointment was at a busy time so they were running a bit late. Our vet was extremely caring and attentive and gave us confidence about our recently adopted senior dog. Since there is a large staff, a little surprised at the wait. Also the woman that checked us out did not provide us with a detailed invoice and was a bit curt. Had to ask to have one, thus the 4 instead of 5 star rating

Selecting a vet is very difficult in this city, but Westside is an excellent choice. Pleasant and responsive staff who genuinely care about your pets, and vets who seem thoroughly engaged and committed to their vocation. A quality vet is expensive, so be aware that serious and competent care comes at a premium. My experience with my new little pal--a random stray who adopted me was first rate. He had an emergency visit to see if he was chipped and in good health, and then a longer visit to be chipped, vaccinated and neutered. The level of care Eliot received was second-to-none and the office's followups were reassuring. Westside will be Eliot's forever vets.

I paid $359 dollars for them to find out what was wrong with my dog. I was to by the vet that they still needed to do more test to find out what was wrong. My dog was very weak and all it seemed like they were more interested was in me leaving him overnight and paying more to run more test. I took my dog home around 5:00 am my dog didn’t seem to get better with the shot they gave him so I went to 510 East 62nd street Animal Medical Center. I arrived and in less than 20 minutes and only $180 dollars they were able to tell me what was wrong with my dog and did a scan etc. Don’t waste your time at Westside Center go to AMC they are the best when it comes to the care of your loving animals.

The staff at the other practice was short and rude, the doctor never gave more than 5 minutes to even get to know us, and after my last visit there, I decided I wanted to find a place closer to home and find a new vet..... I looked around online and came across Westside Veterinary Center. From the first phone call everyone was super friendly and professional, and my experience over the past two visits has been great and couldn’t think of going anywhere else. As I travel frequently for work, and Pluto comes along with me at times, finding a USDA certified doctor was important, and we were matched with Dr. Melanie Friedman. Dr. Friedman is thorough and kind, and took an interest in me and my pet. I felt like I wasn’t just another patient among many. The front desk staff is great and is very helpful as well. So glad I found this place and hope to continue being a client for years to come!

HORRIBLE experience. $3000+ and 2 months of visits, my dog is STILL suffering with chronic airway obstruction. I was first told it "sounded" like he had a collapsed trachea by a vet tech who didnt even perform any sort of assessments. I dont even think a vet tech is medically or legally competent to make that kind of statement. I was then seen by a doctor and was told he had kennel cough. Prescribed 3 meds that did absolutey nothing for my dog. Airway obstruction getting worse, pet nor I can sleep through the night because of constant hacking and coughing fits lasting for about 10 minutes every hour. I go back 3 weeks later, to be told my pet has pnuemonia and fluid in his lungs. I got xrays despite being unable to afford the $300 fee for two views and his respiratory system looked HORRIBLE. Narrow airway and fluid in his lungs as well as trapped pockets of gas in his stomach from how severely he was coughing. Hospitalization at this point was recommended. As this dog means everything to me, i agreed. It cost me $2700 and after 3 days in their care maxing out my entire care credit card, HE STILL DID NOT IMPROVE. When the vet called me, she told me his blood work came back nornal and actually did not show any signs on infection (pnuemonia) but now had a COLLAPSED lung. She still prescribed 3 antibitoics DESPITE HIM NOT HAVING A BACTERIAL INFECTION. HOW MEDICALLY IRRESPONSIBLE IS THAT? Does antibiotic resitance not apply to the canine species? I am in debt for the next year as I am a nursing student trying to pay off my $3000 vet bill over the course of next year until the end of 2019. This was the most horrendous, medically imcompetent and irresponsible experience I have ever had. My pet was wrongly diagnosed 3 times and until this day is still suffering with his "unknown medical illness".

They are extremely sloppy across the board. I have two dogs and have seen a number of different doctors there for each of them. They have been weighed incorrectly, examined with a scary lack of thoroughness, we’ve been given the wrong medications/doses more than once, and doctors have not reviewed my pets’ files(not even reading the first page or two, let alone the whole thing) before seeing them. Each of my dogs has been hospitalized there once, one for pneumonia and the other for problems with her diabetes and subsequent dehydration. Both times the doctor said I could take them home after one night of hospitalization. She was not looking out for our bill because we didn’t express any financial concerns. My dog with pneumonia was in the middle of treatment when she said he could go home, and the diabetic dog was still severely dehydrated. I tolerated some of their missteps because it is a local doctor and it is convenient, but we will not be going back here ever again.

I was very apprehensive about bringing my cat, William in. While I was away he scratched his eye and he looked miserable. I was able to get a same day appointment with Dr. Colby. I could not be more impressed or pleased with her professionalism and compassioante care. She obviously loves cats and was kind and gentle to my grumpy Persian. I left feeling better and William did too. Two days later I received a follow up call from her asking about William and his eye. I cannot say enough about the quality of care he received and her support staff. We will be back!

I live in Bedstuy but I travelled all the way to this vet because it was recommended by two friends who I know care deeply for their companion animals. I was also looking for a good vet that I didn't feel like was ripping me off, which is so hard to find... Unfortunately, the diagnosis is of my cat was terminal cancer and the tumor is inoperable. The surgeon was honest and I appreciated that she told me that operating would be extremely harmful and that the tumor would very likely come back, due to the location. Especially since the previous vet (that I didn't like) was eager to operate and potentially harm my cat and take thousands of my dollars. My vet (Dr. Lewis) seemed to actually care and suggested alternative medicines for my cat. They won't heal her but they can make her comfortable in my final months with her. I will be sure to take my other cats here if we ever have any issues and I highly recommend this vet office, esp Dr. Lewis.

Dr. Bodkin provided very useful and practical (and cost effective) treatment to our miniature dachshund, who had been suffering form diarrhea for some time and was mildly dehydrated. She suggested that he get intravenous fluids and spend the afternoon at the clinic facilities. He did do and was back to his normal self promptly. This was our first trip but we have no hesitation recommending the services. All of the staff were humane and friendly.

Cannot say enough wonderful things about Westside doctors and staff. When I found a stray and needed immediate help, they squeezed us in right away. He hadn't been spayed and sprayed the pet carrier. When I came to pick him up after the procedure, they brought him out in a new carrier free of charge. They are loving and thoughtful and really good at what they do. I've called at 3 in the morning when my cat was sick and someone was there to help. I've never experienced a vet practice that was so accessible.

Whether he has an upset stomach or he’s thrown his neck out, they are so thorough to determine what’s happening and do it with such care. He recently had to stay over night and it was so hard on us but we knew he was in great hands. The front desk always accommodates us with ease for emergency visits! We used to live a few blocks away but moved further north so we’ve debated finding a vet closer but just can’t go anywhere else. We trust them too much!

A friend recommended this place when my cat was having a pretty terrible allergic reaction to his vaccines. The staff and Dr. Lauren were just perfect. They gave me a plan of action on the phone so I knew what to expect when I got to their ER (on a snowy Saturday evening no less). Dr. Lauren gave me updates every 15 minutes and I was able to take my cat home that evening. In NYC, it's hard to find good people -- people that are really accommodating and supremely competent. Because they held my dog for 12 hrs for a 30 minute procedure. I brought my dog in at 8am she didnt get her procedure until 3 when we called.36 minutes later we got a phone call saying she just into recovery. She wouldnt be ready for pickup until 7 or 8 pm. My dog was just sitting there for 7 hrs. We also had some of the unecessary charges removed before we left $800 down payment only to come back to her and found out they added even more charges, that wasnt on the itemized estimate. Which also went from something that would cost$25.75 to 101.00.

I recently moved to NYC. Unfortunately my doggie had a bit of a tooth emergency. I wasn't sure where to take her, so I did my research online and came across Westside Veterinary Center. I'm usually skeptical when I come across a place that has so many positive reviews online, but due to my dog's emergency I decided to give it a shot. I am so happy I did. I was truly impressed by the way they treated me and my Roxy. I didn't even have an appointment scheduled, they told me I could just drop in. I thought for sure I would have to wait at least an hour for a vet to see us-NOPE- the vet saw us right away. I use the word vet, but instead I should call her an Angel. Dr. Rutherford took such great care of Roxy. As soon as she saw her, she was able to diagnose her, and make her comfortable and without pain. Roxy ended up having oral surgery, and a few teeth extracted. Angel Rutherford was Roxy's surgeon and saw her every step of the way. Roxy is now perfectly fine, chewing on her little toys and being the happy little doggie she has always been. I truly recommend Westside Veterinary Center to anyone, this place is what all Veterinary Centers should be like. You can tell every employee here really care and love what they do! P.S. the prices were very reasonable. Oral surgery on a dog can be quite pricey. I was expecting a big bill, but was relieved to find that everything was priced fairly.

LOVE Westside Vet! One of my cats is a HOT MESS. He has neurological issues and issues with allergies so I've had to assemble a dream team of specialists all over NYC to care for his various needs. Cannot say enough wonderful things about Westside doctors and staff. When I found a stray and needed immediate help, they squeezed us in right away. He hadn't been spayed and sprayed the pet carrier. Worried about my beloved cat Baci"s unusual lack of interest in his food, I bundled him up and took him to Westside Vet Center. I was able to see a vet within 20 min.----without an appointment! Fortunately, the doctor could find nothing wrong and offered a couple of options just in case. I refused her suggestions, but then decided to bring him back the next day, since I was leaving for a trip and entrusting Baci to a visiting caretaker. I chose to follow the suggestions given by the previous vet and Baci began eating again almost immediately. I felt I could leave him with a caretaker and not worry.
