We are new to the area and have taken our dogs here to get established with a vet. We've had to use them twice now for urgent care and they were very quick to see us. The 2 or 3 veterinarian's we've seen there so far are great! The staff is wonderful too and they offer a veterans discount on some items. The staff has been great helping transition our dogs to the new clinic. It felt like home when you walked in the front door and they care about you and your pet/s. I loved the fact that they had a fake candle on the counter with a message that said to please speak softly and be respectful when lit because someone was currently saying goodbye to their loved one. The prices seem to be average, however our last vet had a "health plan" that was all inclusive and you could make monthly automatic withdrawals or pay in full and you were able to bring your pet/s in as many times as needed without extra cost. And for those who couldn't afford an extremely expensive vet bill each time it was great that you had the option to pay monthly. Our old veterinarian's clinic also had a patient portal so you could make appointments or get your pets records as needed.

I visited Thompson Veterinary Clinic for the first time last fall with an emergency situation. I called the clinic while I was en-route, and they were waiting and ready for me when I arrived. Staff was professional and kind. Dr. Gustafson has incredible beside manner not just with animals but with owners as well. Despite the stressful circumstances this was easily one of the best experiences I've had in a veterinary clinic in a long time. Price was very fair for services rendered. The clinic is about a 50 minute drive from our home, but well worth the trip even for routine procedures and vaccinations just for the quality of care and pleasant atmosphere created by the staff.

BEWARE!!! If I could rate the professionalism less than one star, I would. This place is a joke. The owner, Gail Hoholik, hasn't a clue how to interact with people, much less customers. It was the most bizarre experience I have ever had. Dr. Thomas Gustafson left my miniature dachshund with a gaping wound after her surgery and had the bedside manner of a rock. However, the worst was their practice manager, Rachel Barnhizer, who told me to leave when I came back with my dog looking for answers after I spent lots of money there. She told me they didn't need my business and would call the police if I didn't leave with my sick dog. Rachel is a real piece of garbage. As far as I' concerned, they don't need anyone's business. Go anywhere but this place!

Used them for an emergency C-section...Nice outcome, all the puppies lived but they are pricey. $400 for a C-section elsewhere, they charged $1,200.

Most of the vets at this clinic are exceptional except one, Dr. Columbus, AKA Dr. Demers. When it comes to treating cats, she has no clue. Several years ago, she gave a cat we owned medication that almost killed him and just a month ago, she performed a proceedure on my 20 year old cat that did cause her death. She is very rude and not compassionate and also was supposed to be red flagged not to work on our animals, but that didn't happen. Do not let this person touch your cat. She is dangerous.

I am so grateful for this vet clinic! They were absolutely great with my skunk. They are the only clinic in the Upper Peninsula that would see him and they took wonderful care of him and had us on our way back home quicker than expected. We will definitely be back there in the future if the need arises.

We were camping near Manistique, with a cat that became ill and needed attention. From the time of our initial phone call until seeing Dr D. probably was not more than 35 to 40 minutes. An exam was carried out and various treatments were thoroughly outlined and discussed. A treatment plan was carried out and we were on our way, in probably less than an hour and a quarter. We felt the entire staff was genuinely interested and concerned and did an outstanding job of treating our "patient". Our visit was on a Monday afternoon. Getting back to normal happened gradually, until by Friday things were "normal" again. Thanks to all who helped make this possible.
