The staff was amazing and accommodating. My dog is very high reactive to other animals and they did not make this a problem at all. They were able to accommodate her needs as well as providing her with amazing service. I highly recommend this place. I also really appreciated the follow up call to check in on me and my dog.

Dianne Lachowicz

A busy place! Had to wait quite awhile before we heard news about our cat. Yes, they mentioned money before they took him in, but it was more to make you aware of what the charges could be. Our actual bill was much lower since we chose not to go with the next level of testing. The doctor made suggestions to follow up with our vet. We did not feel pressured to do more there. The staff is professional and the facility is clean. Much better experience than the one in Springfield.

Yaniris Fernandez

Great staff friendly and willing to help. They comnunic2ate updates regularly and provided detailed information regarding costs.

Jennscout Reed

This hospital is incredible. They saved my cats life. I think human hospitals need to learn from this place. The caring, Quickness, professionalism, and knowledge was Greatly appreciated. Thank you so much from the bottom on my heart. I will forever be grateful.

This hospital is great, all the staff are very attentive and positive. We brought in our dog from Vermont after being bitten by a Mama bear. The drive took an hour and the receptionist was great when we had to call back several times to get the right address to put into our GPS. It only got better from there. They took the dog into triage right away and gave us a report and x-rays in a very short amount of time. The news was good, but he needed surgery to place drains into the teeth wounds and the hope there was no internal damage. We received regular updates, including the night of the surgery, the doc called around 10PM and again every morning and evening for updates. We traveled back each day to spend time with him and they were very flexible on the appointments and the length of time we spent with him. When he would not eat their food, his is very picky eater, we were allowed to bring in some of his own food/ treats the next day to entice him and he ate very well for us. He stayed four days in ICU and each day he improved with the expert care from the compassionate doctors and nurses. We saw a lot of pets being treated here and this hospital ran smoothly during the heavy times and "slower" times. They treated all cases professionally and with compassion and patience. They are better than some "people" hospitals I have been in! Paperwork and procedure easy to follow and with the thought of the anxious pet owner in mind. We would be back in a heartbeat but hope we never have to again! They are only for emergencies, no routine check ups here. A shout out to our intake doc: Dr. McCollum and the nurses that were so great: Jennifer and Sarah. Thank you so much. He is doing great!

Sometime in late autumn, 2017, our 8-year old Newfoundland injured her ACL. Dr. Benson and team did a fantastic job repairing it and though it has only been a week, she is making remarkable progress. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and extremely loving toward our beautiful girl!

Sarah Greene

Terrible. Not only was my cat misdiagnosed after I took him to my regular vet after this horrible experience of waiting and neglect, but they also sent over the wrong records a week later. Go to Springfield, if you can. Their neglect is dangerous.

Marileen Waddell

Thank you so much for the wonderful way you treated Bridget in the last hours of her life. Your kind and understanding manner made a horrible time and experience bearable. Thank you for making all the arrangements and taking wonderful care of her and us.

Cyndi Miller

I wish I could give no stars. We had an absolutely terrible experience. We brought our dog in for an emergency scan of her abdomen based on some worrisome bloodwork at our vet. After almost 4 hours waiting we met with the vet who would do the scan. When we returned 45 minutes later, she told us the scan was concerning and based on the bloodwork she was sure our dog had fast moving cancer and 1-2 weeks left to live. Needless to say, we were devastated. However, each day after our dog was hungry, playful, and energetic. 10 days after the scan I called for biopsy results. There was no cancer. No one apologized or expressed any concern for the trauma we went through. It also took three calls from me to get the test results sent to our vet. I do want to say that the office staff is friendly and tries to make the ridiculously long wait less unpleasant. I would not ever take any of our fur children here again. This kind of jumping to the worst case scenario and disregard for stress caused is beyond unacceptable.

Michelle Henrichon

We had a very positive experience, and they saved our Bella's life who was suffering from bloat. They were amazing and, very kind and compassionate.

Bob Rueter

Our cat had an abcess on his front leg. Decided to go down on a Sunday evening. Appreciate the fairly quick service and the price range quote. Nice friendly reassuring people keep you appraised. Came in below the half way mark. Found out from our regular vet that it would have cost half as much to treat if we had waited another day.

Mardelle Nietupski

The emergency vet took very good care of my puppy after he scratched his eye. Everyone was super nice and the wait wasnt too long. They also told us how much the price would be before they proceeded with any treatments, which was helpful and the cost was very reasonable. We really appreciate how well they took care of my puppy.

My experience was good called them in a panic as my male cat 2 days prior got his urethra unblocked at Westover vets (Do not recommended) he was still having problems peeing and crying in pain. Called them was so upset asked them what to do and if they had a payment plan as I just dished out 1200.00 2 days prior for same thing. We got there and they took him in right away, he wasn't blocked with crystals again just inflammation and spasms from previous procedure at Westover. They explained exactly what needed to be done and gave me estimate and walked me through applying for credit assistance. He stayed up there 3 nights as they monitored his pain levels urinary status and eating. They gave him pain meds antispasmodic for bladder spasms and left a catheter in to help bladder relax. They called me at least daily for updates and encouraged me to call if I had any questions or if I wanted to check on him. Staff was friendly and informative and attentive to questions during his stay and at discharge. Would make the drive there again .

Excellent care, very informative, + caring.

I’ve had to bring my pets in on multiple occasions. The front desk staff has always been friendly and shown genuine concern and interest for what’s going on with my pets. We have unfortunately had to put down some of our pets there too and everyone was kind and supportive..

Kat SeaTurtle

Our dog needed emergency services. Her face got really swollen and she was not really moving! She had been loosing a lot of weight for the pass couple weeks and she was 9 years old which is somewhat old for an English bulldog! She was in a lot of pain and it was very clear that she was suffering. The staff there took very good care of us. They were very professional and sympathetic. We had to put our baby girl to sleep :( They gave us all the time we needed before and after our baby passed. They were very compassionate and caring and they understood how much our baby girl meant to us! To all the staff from VESH we thank you for everything and for understanding that our baby girl was so special to us. We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Maxi is at peace now.

Shelley Robbins

Took my Newfoundland dog in at midnight with a severe case of pneumonia. Her breathing was shallow and labored. Due to arriving late for an appt ( which they recorded incorrectly in their computer 3x previously), they refused to treat my dog. In addition, they called the police in case I would cause a disturbance. What kind of place would refuse to treat a sick animal? Not the kind of place I would trust my pet. Maybe the vets are fine ( probably they are) but the CEO, owner runs the place without regard for morality or common decency.

Dollface Kitty

Horrible NEVER go here. Worst place ever!!

Laurie

Made an appointment to see the allergy specialist after my dog had been suffering with a recurring ear infection. He was feeling better within a week. Highly recommend.

Paul Blais

We have brought our Pyrenese/Newfoundland mix here two times for specialty care. The staff is super friendly, they show incredible compassion towards our dog, extremely knowledgeable and there are so many skilled Veterinary Docs and resources available to be able to make a detailed diagnosis possible. It should also be said the are very understanding to us as owners when there are tough decisions to be made, they provide as much info as they can give and translate it into English so it is understandable. I couldn’t say enough about this amazing Veterinary Hospital, top notch pretty much sums it up!

Emily P

Kind people save your pet's day, 24/7. So appreciative.

Stephanie Dion

Very knowledgeable and caring staff . My cat had a urinary blockage that needed emergent treatment and they took him right away.

Kara Piergentili

I brought my dog Roo in after she had been quilled by a porcupine, they took her in right away and took care of her. All the staff were super helpful and quick to help.

Beware. If you need emergency vet care for your loved one, look elsewhere. VESH grossly mishandled my dog's healthcare and neglected to treat him while in a critical state, and he is now deceased. My dog was kept waiting for 2.5 hours this morning just to have his vitals taken because they didn't consider his case to be an emergency, based on absolutely nothing other than 30 seconds of asking basic medical history questions in the lobby. At 2:30 am, after 2.5 hours of waiting and multiple pleas to check him out and get him on fluids, they finally took his vitals. He was brought back out 3 minutes later and I was told (incredibly rudely and dismissively) by a technician that "his vitals are fine. he can wait." which was followed up with "I said he's not critical. you can wait." Meanwhile, he was VISIBLY in critical condition. After numerous technicians completely dismissed us and walked away, I immediately left and rushed him to another emergency hospital, where the staff began testing and treating him right away. His vitals were NOT fine, and he was 100% in critical condition. The staff at this hospital worked tirelessly to help him, unlike the rude and dismissive staff at VESH - which I have experienced every time I have visited this hospital. It was directly stated that my sweet dog's prognosis could have been different if he had been treated immediately when first brought to the hospital at 12am. I have had another one of my animals hospitalized here before, and while it was not a wildly positive experience, he did leave on the path to recovery. However, I will NEVER trust VESH with any my animals' lives again. The overnight staff on 11/12-11/13 should be ashamed of themselves.

Marilyn Sanchez

My dog had a fall and hurt one of her legs. I was happy to see that she was taken care immediately and the staff was concern about making her comfortable not worried about the cash. They worked fast to stop her pain and to make me comfortable around the whole situation.

Jennifer Godown

I bring my pets to see Dr. Weigand at VESH and have been very pleased with my experience. The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and truly care about animals. Not only I am a client at VESH but I am also a referring veterinarian who routinely recommends VESH to my clients.

Nicholas Stpne

My dogger Tina the killer Chaweennie was treated just the way I would have wanted to be treated if I went to the E.R .☺

Jessica Stoddard

Waited 3 hours in the waiting room while my dog was falling over n dribbling urine also threw up. Took forever to be seen then finally when we were seen they took my dog to do tests but I couldn’t be present, which is absolutely ridiculous I don’t know why they have exam rooms when they don’t even do anything in there every things a secret out back. Then a 1000 later the test come back all negative then they want to keep my dog over night he gets discharged in the morning then I bring him home n he throws up more then once. So I call the hospital again to see what they think is going on and they say I should bring him in again after they couldn’t get me any answers the first 1000 dollars. Plus the vet with the pink hair and plugs was a bit snippy when I was asking questions cause I didn’t understand and she was taking way to fast. My advice to others go to watchsett animal hospital they are also open 24/7 for emergencies.

jamie boyd

My year old lab swallowed part of a tennis ball wich was lodged in his intestine he was very very sick my dog almost died on their waiting room floor because of receptionist and techs wanting money up front before they would look at him all said and done after scrambling for me to find money to help my dog. 4000 dollars later they are very unprofessional and dont care about your animals only about soaking you for your last dollar

Beth Erviti

Insanely inefficient but lots of bells and whistles that client owners pay for.

I had an amazing first experience coming to this facility when we discovered my puppy had roundworm. We were there for about an hour altogether and the staff this night was amazing. Super friendly and made us feel very comfortable. About a week ago, I believe last Sunday we unfortunately had to take our puppy back because we discovered he had roundworm again and we immediately came to this facility again because of how well our last time went. We got there and it was very busy which was no problem. We waited a bit before being seen and once taken into a room the nurse was very nice. However our doctor, kira randall I think was her name, was quite the opposite. She came in very cold, and very rude. My puppy is still learning and is a medium sized dog, and when excited jumps up to give kisses. He's the friendliest dog. He did his normal greeting of jumping and this doctor pushed him down right away and coldly yelled at him to stay down and to not do that. She made us uncomfortable and our puppy very upset. She went to examine him and roughly grabbed him which caused him to get nervous and try to snap. He has never snapped before. She immediately ordered a muzzle, which didn't even fit our dog. She made us put it on him ourselves and wouldn't go near our dog. This was his first time with a muzzle and he was upset. When talking to her she didn't seem to care at all and when she left, her nurse took care of us the rest of the night and we didn't see the actual doctor again after our 5 minute encounter. Even the nurse questioned why he needed a muzzle. The doctor tried to charge us for xrays and all of these other tests that he didn't need because we knew what was wrong and weren't going to spend money on things he didn't need. Everyone else was amazing, but because of this doctor, I will think twice about returning to this facility.

I have been to VESH many, many times since they opened. As a family of 6 dogs, all being working dogs, you could say we have our share of incidents. Our dogs have always been treated with care, from the ER staff to the specialty doctors. Sometimes there is a wait, but that is the nature of the ER. I never hesitate to head there if needed, I know there will always be someone there to help!

It would be so helpful if some response was given to the negative comments by the hospital . When I look back 1 year there are 5 at 2 stars or below and 7 at 4 starts and higher. It can be very confusing to a pet owner on whether to trust some of the veterinarians at this particular veterinary hospital. Please comment on the negative ones so that we can rest assured that when we take our beloved pets to you we know that you will take the best care possible of them.

My cat had a life-threatening situation. I'd never been to this hospital, but they answered their phone on a Sunday afternoon and we needed help quickly for our cat. I called the hospital while I was en route so they would know all the information in advance so the cat could just be rushed in for the necessary treatment. The woman I talked to sounded nice and made it seem like the information would be conveyed to the appropriate people and the cat would get immediate treatment. When we arrived, there was room full of people waiting to be helped and the person who greeted me had no idea what I was talking about when I explained that I had called about the emergency with my cat. Obviously no preparations had been made and I was told to talk to a nurse about some forms. I really wanted to talk to the doctor and hear what they were going to do for my cat and explain to the doctor about some serious allergy problems my cat had. They weren't going to let me talk to the doctor initially but then did decide to let me talk to the doctor. The doctor filled out a form and then was taking my cat away saying he was going to give the cat some pain medication. I asked him about doing the procedure that was needed to fix the problem with the cat and he didn't explain anything to me. He was just taking the cat away in the back section with no discussion of treatment, cost, and no concern for providing me any information about what was happening. After a couple minutes of becoming concerned that they were just medicating the cat but it didn't sound like they were prioritizing the emergency procedure that the cat needed, I opened the door to the back section to see if I could get the doctor's attention to learn more about what was happening. Then I heard the doctor and the nurse and another person or two in the back relating stories about how I brought the cat in and laughing about how I was upset that no one knew anything about me calling ahead, etc. I had a very bad feeling about the whole place and everyone who had dealt with me so far seemed to lack compassion both for me and the cat. It also struck me as the kind of place that would prescribe a lot of medications and tests, talk little with the pet owner, not care a whole lot if the pet didn't survive in the end and would then probably deliver a very expensive bill. Hearing them talk so rudely about me and joking about the situation while my cat was in a crisis situation was a bit much so I walked into the back and scooped up my cat and left. We drove to our regular vet who was further away but is very kind to animals and their owners. At least there I know our cat will be treated by someone who really cares whether he survives and someone who will give him immediate treatment. I just dropped the cat off with him and, as expected, he took the cat in for immediate treatment. I spoke to the vet a couple hours later and he said the cat will be ok.

I had a pleasant experience with all of the staff here. Everyone was welcoming and very helpful. The only downfall was when I requested multiple times (three times to be exact) to have the surgeon contact me before conducting the surgery on my cat so we could discuss it further. Each time I was told that he would call me before starting. He never did call me until after the surgery was complete. I'm not sure who dropped the ball on communication, but I had some questions about the procedure and what other options may be best for my cat. Which were irrelevant by the time I was able to speak with the surgeon. I also had a possible opportunity to have the surgery done cheaper through second chance, but since no one contacted me I was not able to find out if that could have been done.

Everyone was amazing! They took great care of my dogs in such a scary situation ... I felt relieved once we arrived there, and knew they were in good hands when I left them to stay overnight. Definitely recommend this hospital for any emergency situations .... I live in Springfield, and will only use VESH in an emergency situation, even though it’s 35 minutes away. I know once I arrive my dog/dogs will be taken care of. Thanks everyone! Mason & Leah are also so thankful!

It was a VERY long wait the night we were there but they of course have to triage and other pets had more emergency concerns than ours. One of the young receptionists was also quite gruff for no reason that we could figure out. So why five stars? The veterinarian Leann McCollum was amazing, worked so diligently, and still had time to really listen and then explain what all the labs meant in a very patient way. She gets 10 stars so lifts the rest up. They do need to hire more providers so she doesn't get worked to the bone and the waits aren't so long!!

We brought our 12 year old puppy in today to get checked out. In the end to much was going on with him and we chose to put him down. Thanks a billion to the staff that made the situation comfortable. The vet was a sweetheart and the nurse although I cant remember her name (sorry) was outstanding to us. Boxer was an amazing puppy and I'm so unbelievably happy with his last few moments with us. Thank u again!❤

Worst vet ever took my pet to. Very unfriendly. All they want is $$$$. They just want to admit animals and take your $$$$. Cant do simple task without messing it up. asked to get 2 shots and fluids... only got fluids and thats with a 4+ hours of waite time. Save your pet, time and $$$$ and go else where.

Ursula Knolton

This review is short but that doesn’t mean it’s not praising highly. My cat had a linear obstruction and it could’ve killed him. Dr. Mueller and her team did an exceptional job with our little boy and saved his life. On top of great service this is the cleanest veterinary hospital I’ve ever been to. I will continue to drive the extra distance for a place I know cares about it’s clients and their pets. Everyone in the waiting room all discussed how they felt the same. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before actually. Thank you everyone at VESH.

Linda Schmidt

They've taken great care of my dog Bobby on multiple occasions. Always a positive experience.

Daria Tarasova

They did an amazing job. Like a proper ER/hospital for pets.

StevenZ

We called down and asked what the wait time was as we were enroute with our cat! We were told 2 to 3 hours max!!! When we got to VESH the wait room was full and we asked again what is the wait time again we were told 2 to 3 hour max! As we talked to some of the pet owners they said that they had been there for 5 hours already. It was determined that our cat was stable and could wait, even though she continued to vomit in her carrier. 9.5 hours LATER we got to see a Vet! VESH needs to have more than 1 Vet working on a weekend!! I would strongly recommend you have a minimum of 2, with a third on call in the event the more pets need to be seen!! The waiting room was disgusting, there was pet hair everywhere, blood on the floor, and looked like it had not been cleaned in days!!

J A Johnson

I have had to bring my pets in for emergency services as well as to see specialists and every time the staff and doctors have been wonderful. They really care about your pets and want to do whats best for them but also what is best for you. I am so glad to have a place like this so close to home.

happygoldens

I had to take my dog here for an emergency while I was visiting the area. The reception staff were extremely efficient. My dog was taken into the back immediately to have a quick check and get pain medication. I met with the vet who explained in detail what care my dog needed and that he should be admitted for additional testing and monitoring. The staff called with updates when they said they would. When I picked up my dog I was given clear instructions on his further care. The experience I had at this facility was top-notch. All the staff were professional and caring.

Joe Robidoux

I don't have much to say..as we have a death in our family ..how about you people have some heart and not be so cold.... you expect way to much money to save a life..on scale of 1to 10 ..you get a 0 because that's all your worth..sorry had to click 1 star to post..Losers

Nate Bassett

It seems there intent is to traumatize your animal start to finish by separating them from their owners immediately and keeping them in a back room for hours until “ready” for surgery. My only and main complaint is with the sensitivity of the staff, they will fix your pet but they will treat you and your pet like a number and a checkbook for sure

Kathy Forest

Impressed with the prompt triage and immediate treatment of our cat. Very efficient in every way with explanations with each step of our cats treatment . The vet that was going to do our cats surgery came into a private room and explained what was wrong, what the treatment would be and the outcome. Everyone was kind and patient. Very impressed with the level of care.

Tammy Brisson

My 4 year old lab cocker mix was diagnosed with Lymphoma this spring. Even though he didn't win his battle, you can be assured these are the caring people you want treating your animal. Kind & dedicated and very, very understanding.

TheWoodenDwarf

Went there for an emergency visit and some of their equipment wasn’t even working I was told. The doctor on duty was very nervous, and repeatedly said “I only have basic level training” on certain issues. The nurse on duty dragged my dog down the hallway after we told him she just had leg surgery. Didn’t seem to care. Then they tried to charge us for a bunch of standard tests, and keep her over night because they literally could not do anything to help my dog. After we refused the estimate (which was in the thousands) they tried to charge us for a few shots. We turned that offer down, paid our visit bill and left. For an emergency Vet they don’t seem to know what they are doing, and seem money hungry.

Sue Foster

Took my dog there yesterday afternoon and we were there for 5 1/2 hours. They were terribly understaffed. More vets should have been called in. Dogs and cats sat for many hours suffering in waiting room before being seen by vet. It was horrible. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

It saved my dog it was losing lot of blood

I called them because my cat had ate a ribbon off of a balloon. She couldn't pass it and some was hanging out. So they tell me she had to be rushed to them, because it could be wrapped around her intestines. We get there, and sit for 3 hrs. We finally get seen where they tell us she needs to be watched and x-rayed, she needs an iv drip in case she's dehydrated. (She's clearly NOT dehydrated) so while we are there she passes the ribbon. You'd think that would be a good thing right? No! They still want to hook her up to an iv. We tell them, that's ok. So after being there for about 6 hrs. They want their money right now, wich I don't have on me, they get all bent out of shape. Treat us like we were dirty criminals. I brought there money the next morning. They didn't even ask how she was. They are money hungry, and not very good with animals. I will not take ANY of my animals back. And I will advise everyone I know with fur babys to not go there. They are the worst I've seen in a long time. Stay away!!

My dog was at end of life - I had her about half of her 17 1/2 years. She was a great animal - got sickly two days ago on a Friday evening. Saturday she seemed better. I needed a ride, got one from Westfield, Mass. today - on a Sunday - they ARE open --- and they were very nice and caring. My dog had to be put to sleep, she was healthy and all for the whole time I had her. If you live in western Mass. go to this place first to put your animal down if you have to. I have NO clue what it would have cost elsewhere - but one clinic in Springfield is a ripoff for the same services. Staff was nice too. Thank you for helping me when it was time for my dog to pass.

I took My baby Zoey in March 14 for a torn ACL Dr Benson did the surgery and Zoey did great but had to stay over night I called several times during the night to check up on her and everyone I talk to was so kind and gave me an update on her. I was able to get Zoey the next day and they explain to me the meds, what to watch out with her staples and to make sure she is very calm and sent home with information on what to expect the first couple of weeks and then 6 weeks recheck and 6 weeks after that the whole staff has been great from the people at the desk to the staff at night and Dr Benson and I'm sorry I think her name is Mary have been wonderful and it my have cost alot but I had the been Surgeon and Zoey is doing great and Dr Benson will be doing Zoeys other knee as soon as I can get it done

Dade Scolardi

Amazing resource for this area. Compassionate front desk employees, knowledgable doctors and techs, and clean updated facilities.

Keri Arsenault

I had the most phenomenal experience at this facility. The doctor was extremely caring, supportive, and very knowledgeable. They saved our dog's life. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Nils Johnson

Brought my dog here after she was impaled with a stick. Very quick attention and smooth process.

Hannah Noel

I waited for nearly three hours for them to give me a full status update on my dog. I was told this morning that I could get him at 630, and they now told me that I cannot get him till 8 pm. In general, I just think it is disorganized. I don't think that this is indicative of care, however. I did think that the Vet I meet in person was nice and friendly.

We are from Ct. while camping near Greenfiled Ma our dog became ill and we googled near by animal hospitals and found Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital in South Deerfield Ma. We hurried him in there on a Friday afternoon. He was looked at right away to access his problem. We then waited a while to get in to be examined thoroughly. I have to say the care there was excellent. The staff was caring and concerned and gentle and although my dog is very skittish on his own they took that into consideration and treated him so very well and carefully. His problem turned out to be bladder stones and we were told that we could take him back but to keep an eye on him and if ANYTHING concerned us we could bring him back there free of charge to be examined while we were still in that area to make sure there was no blockages until we could get back home and to his regular vet... They also offered and then did fax all the information they gathered from our visit to his regular vet here in Ct. so we would not have to put him through it all again so soon. We now have an appt for tomorrow for surgery here in Ct. I was very happy with everyone there and appreciated so much the way we and our dog were treated while we went through a very scary situation. I would recommend this place to anyone who has anything from a simple exam they want done to any emergency situation that comes up with your pet...We will be up in that area again before summer is over and we will have our dog with us again so I am very comforted knowing they are not too far away should anything else come up while we are in the area again... Very caring and professional people!! It can't be easy when people come in petrified and hysterical because their pet is in trouble and they are scared... these folks are amazing and never mind answering questions you may have or giving you updates on your pet at any hour of the day!

S. Annabelle

Never again. I get as an "emergency" vet it gets pricey. But to drain me of my funds with very little talk. Shame.. close to $3500 later and my cat being there for 3 days(if I could get even half that back I would so fight for it) I brought him to another vet who have me a completely different look on it all! They didn't say one thing close to what this place did.. when I called one day this place seriously told me they had to replace my cats catheter and then transferred me to someone else so I could make a deposit, didnt even tell me how much I had to ask "excuse me, how much now" $707... really.. they took my cats catheter in and out so much in 3 days this poor guy was so inflamed the other vet looked through all the paperwork and was so upset then I became upset on how my cat was.. drugged and all.. not to mention dry cat food was the issue my cat had Crystals in his bladder when I went to see him(that I had to make an appt to do late at night) he had dry food stuck in his cone but they couldn't give me an answer as fo why.. he looked horrible.. then needed more money and surgery etc.. no I am a single mother and this is out family cat I will do what I need but at this point it was getting heartless and I just cried feeling so lost.. the other vet took his cone off and my cat was so much happier when he left this place.. I'm sorry the staff is nice but it's all money and no hearts unfortunately. CALL YOUR LOCAL VETS MOST ARE OPEN 24/7 EMERGENCY you just don't know it!!!! Don't come here.. the things I've about this place after my cat was there.. oh and for this 'surgery' my cat NEEDED according to them.. I was given three different "estimates" in one day of speaking to them.

Amazing experience. Brought my dog in who got stuck by a fish hook in the nose. I was in and out quick and my pup was treated great! I highly reccomend them!

Aimee Serralde

Both times I've been here I thought my dog was gonna die, so the fact that I can say I had a generally positive experience here says a LOT. Everyone here, from the people at the front to the triage nurse to the doctors and nurses, everyone, does an outstanding job at making you feel comfortable and like your pet will be in good hands. They are non-judgemental, they truly truly just care about your pet. My Candy LOVES the people there & both times they treated her with all the love & expertise she needed to come back safe to me.

Sachio Cook

Visiting this hospital costs a pretty penny, but I'm so grateful that they operate 24 hours and are always staffed with really competent techs and doctors. Definitely helped save my epileptic and IBD cat's life by getting a proper diagnosis and treatment. I appreciate that if you board your pet there overnight, you can call at any time for an update and rest assured that your sick pet is always under the eye of a vetirinary professional. They were accommodating and non-judgemental about giving my cat freeze-dried raw food when she stayed there.

Clark Jones

Everyone was very helpful and positive. Barnabas is doing great. Back to his old self. Thanks to everyone.

Bill Farnham

I've brought one of my dogs to this facility to get porcupine quills removed (over 60 quills) and the other dog has been three times for various ailments. We are always seen very quickly, and the staff is friendly and professional. The doctors take the time to explain the procedures and research the background of the animal . Bottom Line: I highly recommend the vets here and am very happy that they are always open and located so close to where I live. The only negative is that they are more expensive than the regular vet, but this is more than made up for by the fact that they are always open!

Jordan Daniels

I went to this hospital 4 days ago because my dog was heaving and throwing up clear liquid. They treated it as though he ate something he shouldn’t have. I had to pay $440 for them to do an X-ray and give him an antibiotic and probiotics to put in his food. 4 days later he is still heaving and trying to throw something up and I called and asked what to do. They said they would like to recheck my dog but I asked if there would be a charge since I already paid over $400 for pretty much nothing, they told me it would be a $70 recheck fee plus anything if he needed any treatment. This hospital is very clean and seemed to be very good but now I have changed my mind. The staff was nice, but there shouldn’t be any charges if they did not cure your dog the first time. This place is expensive for nothing, just go to your vet instead.

Nick Tobin

Friendly and helpful staff, great communication, clean environment.

Jonathan Cavanagh

Received excellent emergency care for my two dogs who were heavily quilled from a porcupine encounter. Staff was pleasant, caring and efficient.

Mary Ryan

I appreciated not waiting for very long. I also foudn that the triage nurse was really loving to Gemmi, and Gemmi very willingly went into the back room with her. I felt as though everyone there loves animals. Gem was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and while it's been hard, they've all been pretty professional and compassionate.

Kerry LaBounty

We had quick service with excellent results. The vet called us the next day to check in on our dog - we really appreciated that!

Kris Py

Disappointed that the first words spoken to us when we arrived with an emergency were concerning costs up front. We understand that the financial challenges must be large, but please hold back a few minutes. That said, the costs are difficult to understand: $2,200 for imagining and an overnight stay for our sedated pet.

Janet Glick

Thank you so much for the wonderful caring way you treated Happy in his last hours of life. The kindness and understanding the staff showed made this sad experience bearable. Thank you for making all the arrangements and taking such wonderful care of him and my family.

Jenniffer Joany Hidalgo

My dog was vomiting and has some diarrhea, she did not want to eat or drink and she was lethargic. I was looking and calling different places but all of them closed at 10 pm. I was looking for places in google and find VESH. The review was excellent, and they open 24/7. I travel 33.24 miles and it was worth it. They took a excellent care of my dog. They take you through the process, and step by step they explain what your pet have, how to make them feel better and they give you an estimate of how much your going to pay. They work with you so you can give your pet the best treatment possible. My dog spent a couple of days there, and they took a really good care of her. The doctors, nurses and staff are really professional, friendly, and kind; not only with the patients but with owners as well. I really recommend this place for the care of your pet.

Noreen Johnson

What an amazing facility and staff. My Tillie was there recovering from a respiratory infection and I'm blown away by the care and expertise of these folks. 24 hours a day 365 days a year including holidays. You can walk in at 10:00 on a Sunday night and they're fully staffed, ready to jump into action. Thanks so much to everyone there, great job.

Kimberly Desorcy-Muldoon

Each of the two staff we dealt with were informative and understanding. Quick service and help at 3 AM! They sent information regarding our visit to our regular vet, so I didn't have to fill them in on much. The staff even checked in with us a couple of days later. We were so grateful for this hospital. Our dog has recuperated perfectly thanks to VESH!

Jess Magnuson

I can't say enough good things about this place. They treated both my pet and I with such care and compassion, explained everything in a way that I could clearly understand, and were great about following up with me after my pet had discharged to make sure everything was going okay at home. I have taken my pet there twice now, and had an overwhelmingly positive experience both times.

Sarah Barker

I brought my 9 and a 1/2 year old Manchester Terrier Brookie in this past week. We had noticed her stomach was swelling and she had some breathing issues. The staff up front was amazingly nice. Gina was our intake person and she was so kind and patient. The vet tech with the long dark hair was also so nice and caring. Doctor Randall was very thorough and sympathetic. She tried her best to save our Brookie but unfortunately she was too sick and had to be put down early the next morning. It was a tough decision but it was the humane thing to do. Doctor Randall called us right away and we were able to go be with Brookie. It was such a hard day for us and has been such a tough week. We recieved a symphathy card from the staff at VESH last night. That was so thoughtful. I have a lot of respect for the staff and vets at VESH. It must be so hard to see these things on a daily basis. Thank you for all that you do.

Christine A

No empathy or compassion. They didn't even seem to care about my dog so I took him out of there. Don't trust them. I can't even tell if they like animals

rafael castellano

Staff is very kind and compassionate.

Nancy Houde

Dr Benson and his staff were amazing!! Very encouraging and also open and honest with any outcome. Willa had the best of care!!

Bernie Causeway

Very fast response once we arrived with our dog. I really could not believe how busy they were there was no hesitation with service. The entire staff are great and do a fantastic job no matter the amount of emergency's entering the facility. We will always use this facility in the future if another emergency should arise. Most of all THANK YOU to the staff great people!!!

Tamar Smith

$75.00 for $5.00 dollars worth of amoxicillin (I checked the price), is ridiculous and unfair and makes me questions the other charges which all seem high. Otherwise I have no complaint but I deeply resent being gouged for pet care.

Lise Lawrence

Terrible. The vet techs were very nice but front desk is horrible. Lori is incredibly rude. I’ve been waiting for records for five days and she told me that she can’t help me because there’s other people she needs to take care of first even though I’m the one that’s been waiting five days, not to mention waiting eight hours in the hospital. Just be more empathetic and be nicer to customers. If I’ve been waiting for five days and you can’t help me right away, offer to call me back. Don’t belittle me by telling me that you have to deal with people at the front desk when I was one of those people five days ago and I’m still waiting. You don’t have to argue or be rude don’t be the RMV learn how to be nice to people when they’ve been waiting patiently. That is not a new software issue, that is a human issue.

Anna Hepler

Fast intake, and very kind staff. A long wait for an examining room and analysis with a doctor (almost 2 hours), but a great experience once we got there.

Shawn S

Thank you so much for saving our cat. The service you provide is a blessing to the community. I was very impressed with the knowledge and service by all of the staff. The minute I walked in the door the woman at the front desk recognized the problem and took quick action. I have heard that this place was expensive, but I found the cost very reasonable and less than what was estimated. The level of care and communication was nothing short of incredible. I will not hesitate to take any of my animals in if needed. Thanks again and keep up the good work. Pet owners need a place like this in case of an emergency.

Britny Jones

I brought my puppy in after I was advised to after a bad reaction to a vaccine. The vet I met with at midnight was wonderful and full of concern. They kept him overnight and when another vet called me in the morning they didn’t seem to care at all and was basically reading me a report and almost sounded bothered by my questions. Hours later when I went to pick up puppy I met with a technician who was just like the vet, and seemed like I was more of a bother than anything. I am just happy that my puppy is ok but some more pleasant interactions would have been appreciated.

Kelly Kowalczyk

Very thankful for the staff at V.E.S.H. They are very competent and knowledgable. We were seen promptly and guided through our dogs care step by step. Our dog needed emergency surgery, and was kept overnight. We were able to call at any hour for an update, and felt very comfortable leaving her. I would highly recommend!

Michael Little

The staff here is incredible! Even though the diagnosis wasn't positive, the people were. I highly recommend.

We got my baby Bella spayed a week prior to our visit here. She had chewed out her stitches and muscle was coming out of the incision. We called ahead and let them know the situation. When we got there they took her right away. My boyfriend and I were treated so professionally and so kind. They called us with updates 3 times, and made me feel like I did the right thing by bringing her to them and not Springfield. We were able to bring her home in less than 24 hours and Chrys did a wonderful job going over aftercare with us. Yes it costs a lot but an ER visit for a human costs over 10 grand. Overall Im very satisfied and Im glad my sweet Bella is on her road to recovery

Marika Kopp

I’m very happy with my experience here. I took my puppy here a week after adopting him, as he was experiencing stomach issues that were getting increasingly worse with time. As an overprotective puppy owner I had a lot of questions and wanted to be informed every step of the way and the staff had no problem keeping me in the loop. My pup was kept overnight and the staff made sure I knew I could call at anytime to check in. They also provided a full estimate of what costs I would incur and what test they were going to run before they moved forward in the appointment, that way I wouldn’t be surprised by any costs as emergency vet services are generally more expensive than a regular vet. Despite the very late hour, the staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. Follow up after the appointment has been extremely easy.

Debbie Westmoreland

The staff at VESH is amazing--from the front desk receptionists to the veterinarians. They have saved one of our dog's life and provide exceptional specialty care for her and our other dog, which both have skin allergies and other health issues. We have found them to be caring, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable at every visit, and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Shannon Letendre

Great staff

RE N

Great caring staff, very professional!

Kathryn Veatch

They were able to help us right away when we needed it. They were kind and clear. They explained all the fees and gave us time to decide how to proceed. Only thing lacking was info at discharge. We felt a little like we were left hanging in terms of follow up care for our sick pup. We understand they help strictly in emergencies, and we’ve made an appointment for our regular vet for follow up, but a bit more support at discharge would have felt more secure for us going home with a dog who we didn’t quite know what to do with. Overall we are very grateful for their dedication and quick thinking when we needed it.

Cindy Schimelpfenig

I took my dog there on a Saturday night as an emergency case. They got him right in, gave me an estimate on the cost, kept him overnight, and the cost was on the low end of the estimate. I even got a small refund. The care was excellent, I got feedback during the night, and got my dog back in good order the next day. They called a day later to check up and sent all the records to my vet. Thank you, VESH!

Amanda Soto

Whenever we have needed to take our huskies here they have always been great. They take care of my dogs like I do with love and care. They listen to what we say and even look at pictures if we show them. They don’t do unnecessary work to just rack up the bill.

Laurie Tetreault

Very professional and kind staff. The vet was superb and I feel like my Bella was well cared for ! It’s nice to know they are open 24/7.

cindy anne

We've used VESH over the years, and generally had a fine experience. Last Spring, we scheduled palliative radiation treatments with Dr. Abbo for our Rottweiler. He was professional, kind, and helpful. The staff was terrific. A few weeks ago, we had to take our new pup in for what appeared to be another bladder infection. We called ahead, as out regular vet wanted her to have an ultrasound. This is why we were there. We were told to come in for an ultrasound. After waiting for a few hours, we met with Dr. Bushra Zaidi, who walked into the exam room, glanced at our dog, and pronounced the dog didn't need an ultrasound, as she was certain the dog had another UTI. I asked her how she knew, she replied 'clinical observation'. I tried to make my case for the ultrasound, as our pup has had many UTI's, and we needed further testing. Dr. Zaidi was very curt and condescending. She snapped when I told her our puppy was not yet spayed, and told us we were putting her life at risk. Our dog has a recessed vulva, which is likely why she'd been experiencing the UTIs, and allowing a dog to go through a few heat cycles can often solve the problem. I thought a vet would know that. We left with a 400$ bill, no ultrasound, and testing found no UTI. We were charged an absurd amount for a few antibiotics and wipes for her vulva. A few days later, a message was left from VESH that our dog should come back in for that ultrasound. We're going elsewhere. The vet techs were wonderful and happy to answer our questions, unlike Dr. Zaidi. We'll likely end up at VESH again, and we hope to be treated with respect and civility, as we were prior to this encounter.

Brought my cat in at 2AM for what I thought was a blocked urethra. Turned out to be something less serious thankfully, which I found out through the help of the wonderful and kind staff. Facility is clean and welcoming, and all the staff were extremely helpful and assuring. They were able to work out what the issue was (or wasn't) and provide helpful advice and treatment. In the event of am emergency, bringing your pet here will ensure they are in good hands! Would recommend to anybody and everybody!

Ann Hollingworth

Very informative. Let me know the possible expenses ahead of time. Kept me informed. Called the next day to see how my dog was doing.

Cyn R

Over the years, I would have lost two dogs without this hospital. The staff is great and they are excellent with follow up. I am very thankful for this emergency vet hospital.

Mari Lentz

I had to bring my cat in for a urinary blockage. Everyone was very kind and helped us and our cat. They explained prices as well as future steps on taking care of our cat. I appreciated that they called us regularly with updates and that they weren’t frustrated when I called to ask questions. I was able to schedule times to come in and see my cat while he was still in hospital care. They are a great service, and my cat would not still be here if it wasn’t for them.

Jaime Rappaport

I was highly impressed with the entire staff. This is a very professional facility where care for the animal is first. The doctor was sympathetic, compassionate and knowledgeable about the latest drugs. I appreciated the honesty when explaining the situations and medicines. THANK YOU!

Owlicat

I would recommend them highly. Great Drs ,tech's and staff

Kerry Meehan

Everyone at this facility is quality. We had an issue with our treasured cat, Fluffy, and our vet at the Cat Hospital in Northampton couldn't set up an appointment and sent us here. It was serious and resulted in having to put Fluffy to sleep. Everyone at the facility was outstanding and understanding. They are truly committed to pet care and fully recognize the grief we feel when our pets are seriously compromised. I highly recommend and appreciate their care.

Patrick Brown

I have needed emergency care a few times. It never happens at a convenient time. Fortunately, VESH is always open. This is a wonderful resource in the area. I have also had regular visits with an oncologist for my late pet. I always felt cared for and my pets always have responded well to the staff here.

Darlene Sattler

I would give a 0 if I could. I took my 7 year old Shih Tzu there and was told she had pancreatitis. They said there was nothing they could do but support her with medication and hopefully she would pull through. They said they could try surgery which we had to pay up front for and then told us she didn’t need it. We thought we would get a refund for the surgery but they told us the over $3,500.00 was used up in medication. After 12 days in ICU and over $7,000.00 they sent her home with me and said there was nothing more they could do. She would have to be on meds for the rest of her life. They told me I should bring her to my regular vet and have her blood work checked the next day. At my vet I was told she would die that night if I didn’t bring her back to Deerfield and put on an IV. During this crisis I was told of Dr. Landau in Belchertown. I had called him and explained the situation and he told me to bring her right in. He is a holistic vet. He treated her with low level laser therapy on her pancreas, performed acupuncture and sent me home with Chinese herbs. I visited twice a week for about three weeks and slowly but surely she started to show progress. It was up and down and at one point I thought it was the end. I have to end this review stating my Shih Tzu is totally cured!!! It has been three years and she never took any of the meds from South Deerfield. When I left there after being raped of over $7,000 all they said was “Good Luck, we hope she makes it”! I spent a fraction of that at Landau Veterinary Services...maybe $400.00 and he cured my baby after South Deerfield said she couldn’t be cured. If I listened to them I would have put down my dog. My dog is healthier now then she’s ever been. Dr. Landau taught me about grain free diet and treats and that’s all she eats. As I said it has been three years today that South Deerfield told me she was going to die. Please get second opinions before you put down your beloved pet per the advice of South Deerfield and please go to Landau Veterinary Services.

If you need a hug when your pet has a life threatening condition, wait for your regular vet. If you want people who are going to go the extra mile to save your family member in an emergency, these are your folks. We are a dog rescue and are not one of their clients. One of our fosters recently bloated while I was 1900 miles away. All via telephone. They stepped in. They stepped up. They kept me informed. They save our rescued dog's life. What more could you ask for?

Katherine Grimley

We did not appreciate them taking our cat away from us as soon as we walked in and sticking us in a room for 45 minutes with no explanation. We wanted to stay w/ our cat as we always have during vet examinations. It felt cold and too institutionalized. Katherine Grimley

Just finished writing a long, accurate review of my dog's acute spinal emergency, neurosurgery and recovery - only to have the font go crazy, and then lose my review. Suffice it to say that if you love your (dog in my case), and want the best care, bring your animal to Tufts. It is costly but remember - You get more than what you pay for - you get your dog's best possible life back.

Drea

They are horrible people. Dont take your sick animal to them please. I brought my cat in on a holiday weekend with an elevated breath rate. They announced her in an oxygen cage and left us sitting in the waiting room for hours. When the vet finally talked to us she was disinterested and confusing. She didn't have a diagnosis because they hadent even looked at her. Then she sent a tech in with an itemized bill for 1500$ and when I said I dont have that she said "well did you have a number in mind" I realized they expected me to barter for my pets life. Only after I told them I wasn't leaving her did they give her an xray. It was congestive heart failure which I only learned after I took her home and read the paperwork myself. The next day when we came back they didn't even know my cat was a her. I dont even know if they read the chart. When I went in back to say goodbye she was in a cage with no water and no litter. She's dead and because of them I will never know if I made the right decision.

Mary DeWolf

VESH has a team of fine providers. They are knowledgeable, patient, courteous, and thorough. Freckles thanks you!

Karen d

Really great staff. My dog, Bridget, has been critically ill with obscure illnesses a number of times and they have saved her life. I am so grateful to have this level facility so close to where I live. The staff are very kind and professional.

Natasha Trendell

They saved my dog's life. I lost my shirt, and will be eating peanut butter and jelly for a year, but their surgeons, doctors are amazing, so no complaints. My dog Luna was half dead when I rushed her to this facility, and their staff was right on top of her care from start to finish. Luna is alive and well, currently stealing her sister's toys, and being her pugnacious self, so hats off to this place, I highly recommend them.

Brandon Nowakowski

It was a little bit of a wait, but the vet techs and vet were super kind to my cat and me, taking the time to listen to the symptoms I had been observing and providing different treatment options. Then they called the following day to check up on her. I would definitely go there again!

Eren garcia

My dog broke his nail and when I got there I was waiting two and a half hours for him to be seen and the whole time waiting he was still bleeding everywhere. Then after they wrapped up his leg it was loose and came off by the time I was home and when I called them they said it can take hours again to wrap his leg. It was a mess.

thomasaveni

Grossly overpriced BUTCHERS! I left my dog there after paying them $2200. He was supposed to receive emergency diagnostics. It was a Saturday, and I wasn't told that they did no diagnostics on weekends. I was called 4 hours later and told that he needed to be taken to Tufts University Animal Hospital, though they told me it may have been too late. My precious little friend was euthanized 8 hours after he had arrived at this "hospital." These people are utterly USELESS. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

Rick Smith

Just brought our 1 1/2 yo beagle hound mix here because she had gotten her lower jaw jammed in a bone. These folks were awesome! Literally within three minutes of arriving, the triage nurse, Heather, took our pup into an exam room and walked out two minutes later with our dog minus the bone! She and Dr. McComb (sp?) were able to rotate the bone some way we couldn't and got it off. I didn't even have time to get halfway through filling out the info sheet, just incredible! On top of all that, they didn't even charge us. Truly a wonderful bunch of people....thank you!!

Angela Graves

We have used this facilities services many times over the years. This time we were visiting from Georgia when our dog became sick. They took care of her and she is doing great. The only negative I have, is that they presently have only one veterinarian. This increases wait times and frustration with clients even with triage we waited over five hours for a level 2.

Carrie Thang

I took my daughter’s dog to VESH. He had eaten a piece of fabric. VESH was professional and helpful. In a time of desperation VESH gave us hope and was a part of a team that got our dog back to health. I’ll never forget the Dr.’s words, “you have options”. Her optimism is what saved Dash’s life. Thank you VESH. I highly recommend this as an ER and regular office visit.

Lily Gallagher

Our first visit was over a year ago at 4 in the morning. My 8 year old boxer had bladder stones and needed emergency surgery. I was 3 months pregnant and very emotional at the time. I felt as though every person in the building cared about our situation. They are up front with the costs, and this is hard to swallow at 4 am to make a quick decision. This is not specific to this vet practice. I noticed in other reviews comments regarding pricing, and being upfront with costs before proceeding but it would be the same situation at any other emergency vet clinic. The woman at the front desk had a code that allowed me 1 year interest free to pay off the care credit card, and I wouldn't have been able to do it with out that. The surgeon whose name I don't recall, was fantastic!! He even removed a growth in her mouth, unrelated to the surgery. He called me with test results immediately. She recovered wonderfully. Fast forward over a year later we had to come back for seziures. The staff respected my comments about being low on funds, and worked out what my options were for what we could afford. Dr. Mccullum made me feel somewhat more in control of the situation, and was very knowledgeable. Anyway, I prefer vesh to our primary vet and wish we could go there for everything. Thanks for all that you do! Lily & Gumby

Gina Allen

Although we had a long wait because the vet on duty had emergency surgery, when she did see us she spent time with us explaining what was going on and what we needed to do going forward. The clinic also called us the next day to see how our cat was doing!

Allison Rowan

Extremely unprofessional. I brought my cat there yesterday because there was blood in his urine, they told me he had bladder stones and that he needed $4,000 surgery and that I need to schedule it right away, and told me no other options. They charged me $245 for the emergency visit, the antibiotics and a "quick look ultrasound". His tail normally stands straight up, when I brought him home later yesterday morning his tail was and still is limp and bent about a third of the way down. When I went to examine his tail myself he hissed and it was clearly very painful. Today I brought him back concerned that his tail had been injured at the visit yesterday. On the phone they urged me to "come right down". The vet tech was extremely nice and I'm grateful for her, although I don't know her name because she didn't introduce herself. Also the front desk staff was complaining about another co worker while I was waiting in the waiting room and they were hardly personable or compassionate. I saw Dr Randyll who seemed irritated the moment she walked in the room. She was really rough with my cat, he was hissing and obviously is a lot of pain. She told me her probably strained his tail at home, keep in Ming he hasn't moved much and he's very sick. She seemed extremely nervous, and was speaking very fast so I didn't catch everything she had said and so I asked her to repeat herself. She got VERY irritated and raised her voice at me. She said my cat needed X-rays, and his tail was probably injured in the carrier on the way home. The staff at the office yesterday are the ones who put him in the carrier. I asked if there was another vet I could speak to and she said no. She was extremely rude to me and I don't know whether she was shaking because she was nervous or mad but she left the exam room and slammed the door. And then comes back and says he should be taken over night! I told the vet tech that I didn't feel comfortable leaving him in their care because Dr Randyll was already so irritated and nasty to be honest, and his tail was not bent yesterday before his appointment. I will never come back to this facility, I would give them 0 stars if I could. Extremely unprofessional. This is my first review I've ever written for any type of service, but this is how strongly I feel my pet and I were not taken care if properly at this facility.

Matthew Maxwell

We went to the hospital for a sick cat. We were greeted quickly by staff and then medical information was taken by a tech. We were told of the wait and the billing structure. It was a holiday weekend and our wait was about three hours. It did not come as a surprise. I believe patients are taken first come, first served, with greater emergencies jumping the line. We saw a doctor, who checked the cat over and asked us questions. A tech helped. They took the cat to do tests as well and again, gave another cost estimate. When the tests came back, a course of treatment was discussed with us and we aproved. I.V. fluids and meds were provided directly and we were sent home with further meds and istructions. The bill came to within the estimate and I believe quite fair. Our treatment was uniformly polite and understanding. I would recommend this facility and its staff to anyone with a pet in need and would return here myself as well. And yes, our cat has thankfully completely recovered.

Scott Mathes

Had to take my Pittie there at 3 AM after he decided to try and put a porcupine in his mouth. Vet and Vet Tech were welcoming, helpful and very good with him. One hour later we were on our way home minus the quills. Great place- thank you!!

EagerSolutions

Made me wait for hours outside in parking lot because they said my cat might be contagious and then kept pushing me to the back of the line for more important emergencies much better service at the animal hospital in Springfield

Shirley Majewski

The staff was very pleasant and it is nearby to us. It was a long wait, 3 hours but was thrilled that they emailed results to So. Dfld Vet Clinic. Blackie is doing better but it will take a while. I appreciate the ER being open and the staff knowledgeable. thank you Shirl, Mike and Blackie Majewski

Alex Cruz

Horrible exp, here after bringing my mothers dog here for heavy breathing and a bunch of test and drugging are dog up they had no answers they said one thing than said another im still clueless as to why she had to be put down besides the heavy breathing she was such a happy dog this really crushed are family tremendously im so upset at myself and hurt I didnt get a second opinion I would never rocommend this place too anyone we miss are dog so much its so painful I know it was there fault shes not here I will never forget this as long as I live almost 5000 dollars of drugging her up and beating around the bush only to reccomend our dog be put too sleep I wasn't the one who made the decision if it was up to me I would of took her out of there and never came back I rather her die im my arms than to have her so drugged up suffering more im sure her seeing my mom would of gave her strength atleast to get a second opinion it was my mothers dog they were in sync shes dead inside it seems this has been ths most terrible exp at this hospital

Deb Raber

Although it took a while to see the vet, the techs were so wonderful. They saw the stress we were under and did all they could to help. When we finally saw the vet, she too was great and was very thorough explaining everything to us.

Gloria Ratcliffe Szawlowski

My dog must have gotten into something. She presented throwing up white foam. She was two but huge, so they incorrectly gave her two X-rays. (Nothing shown) each 450$, I could hear my baby screaming in the back. Then after blood work showed significant damage to her liver, they did a quick 98$ CTscan, that showed the problem. She had less than a 50% (realistically less, because every minute counts) chance of living. They suggested starting with a 8000$ surgery. That would be extremely painful and unlikely to be the only one. We were beside ourselves at 2am and they pressured us to take out a loan! I refused many times, because they said it would be multiple surgery’s and tubes out of her stomach! After she died in my lap, they charged us over 1000$! I’m angry because the treatment was wrong and she maybe would have had a chance if they acted correctly. My dog was barely 2 devastation in 3 hours.

Thank you all, especially Dr. McCollum and the two techs who worked on the evening 9/10/19, for being there for myself and my girlfriend as we laid Moses to rest. I could not have asked for better service and more kindness from anyone during such a difficult time.

Took excellent care of our Zoey when she cut her leg open. Explained everything and made quick work of our follow up visits.

I had my dog Charlie in last week for major surgery involving removing a canine tooth & part of his upper jaw. Sure it cost a little, but for someone you love and having a great job done, with the special equipment & knowledge they need to have, isn't your pet worth it?! I would have paid more if they needed it. They even gave me money back after it was done (as they shoot on the high side to have you prepared) with a free follow up check. My boy is doing great & getting back to his full energy level. I would highly recommend them. Great job! from: Charlie, Brian, and Anita all thank you Dr Benson and all of your staff

I have been sitting in a waiting room for 4 hours now. Just waiting on blood work. No one has checked in on us for 2 of those hours. No ones at the front desk and everyone is in the back. I would recommend going somewhere else unless it's an emergency. They are taking their sweet time. My dog is having leg and hip pain and he has to sit on the hard floor for 4 hours.

Seems simple issues can be addressed here, but when it comes to more serious "emergent issues" part of the staff seem incompetent, borderline negligent-- as seeing how many negative complaints there are and through my families experience with VESH. Not to mention charged my family for antibiotics but only gave our family dog normal saline bolus (IV fluid). Our family dog passed away here. If more was done and our dog passed away I understand, but he didn't even receive antibiotics and his dx was pneumonia. VESH doesnt seem to deal with decompensating or critical ill animals very well (you know, "actual emergencies"). Also charging for things that were not given is fraud. My advice to anyone that had negative experiences, or are suspicious of added charges, etc: Obtain the medical records, and all files pertaining to your animals care here and review them.

7 hours later and im still here. Nothing too complicated.. just slow as can be here. Bring a few meals and a charger. Seven. Hours. And counting

I originally gave this review 1 star because they did a rather expensive diagnostic procedure on my 3 week old puppy without giving me a chance to sign or think over the estimate they gave me. I was then told to go up front to pay and they would bring her out once I had done so. I left very angry and confused and with several hundred dollars less than when I entered. I posted a review the next morning so this wouldn't happen to other people and I received a phone call about it pretty quickly. They apologized, explained their side and offered to refund my money for the unwanted procedure which I really appreciated. The woman I spoke with was very kind and professional but I couldn't help feeling like they were being nice to me because they wanted to fix their ratings rather than because what I had been charged was in error. That being said I feel like the veterinarian who helped me was trying to do a good thing, the care provided was definitely adequate, he has even called to check up on my puppy and her litter mates since.

I am so grateful for this place. My puppy got into my sugar free gum. I was able to rush him right over. They saw to him right away and where very friendly. He stayed overnight and made a quick recovery thank goodness. He was happy and excited like he was never sick much different from when I bought him in. They where helpful and kept me up to date with his recovery.

VESH did a great job overall. Staff was friendly and attentive. They were kind to my cat. They also called to follow up after discharge.

would give 0 stars if I could. My father brought his 12 year old chihuahua mix in for difficulty breathing. No prior history. Dr. McLaughlin told my family our dog was in heart failure and we should come visit him. When we called back after discussing this amongst the family, we were told to come in 2 hours. I work at a vet's office in NY and could not understand why a doctor would have the family of a dying dog wait 2 hours to come in. When we got there, the dog came in looking pretty good and oxygenating well. The doctor comes in and tells us the radiologist, to whom she sent the radio graphs for consult, said that the dog was not in heart failure. he was basically having an asthmatic episode to put it simply. She then sends us home with cough medication (the dog was not coughing), an anti-biotic (no infection found), albuterol (got one thing right), and heart failure medication (the dog is not in heart failure) Her bedside manner and communication skills were awful, and quit frankly, she practices bad medicine. When the dog stopped doing well a few days later, we called. One of the other vet's said to stop the medication McLaughlin gave us. Seems to me, even other doctors can't understand what she was doing

Competent and caring veterinary staff. They took great care of my dog’s torn nail promptly and efficiently. I would recommend them to anyone in need of emergency vet services!

I dont recommend anyone to go to this hospital, it is the worst hospital you can ever go to, They drugged my little dog up, All they want is money, this place is money hungry, my grandma brought her dog there to help her get better but instead they made the poor dog worst, They killed my little dog, my whole family is torn from this loss, and whenever you ask what’s wrong with your pet, their answer to everything is “I’m not sure why” that place is the worst place and never in a million years do I ever recommend this place to anyone, all they want is money, money, money, to not even make your pet any better but to instead kill your pet, this is the worst experience in my life. If it was up to me I would’ve got my little dog out of there as soon as possible.

Brought my dog here because she was in serious pain with her back, very nauseas and didnt want to move. Unfortunately this was the only animal hospital closes to me. An hour away... the first thing they did was take my dog to the back room and I did not like how they do not update you on how your animals are doing. I had to ask many times. It's a very unsettling feeling for an owner. She was prescribed many medications and I was told that i will be sent home with prescriptions that could fill at any pharmacy. The next day when I went to fill them THEY WERE UNABLE TO BE FILLED. I called them to let them know and was told I would have to travel all the way back there to fill them and I explained to them I am unable to travel because of the distance, work, ect. And was told " we do not know what to tell you". I'm not saying that the distance was there fault. But if a vet tells me something I expect it to be accurate. The entire wait was 6 hours and I waited 2 hours JUST to be discharged. I will never go back here again at less it's a life or death situation. Prices are outrageous!

Briana Teschke

Terrible staff/customer service. Very insensitive to our needs in time of sorrow. Will never recommend this place to anyone!

I have taken my dog to VESH multiple times for various injuries and sickness. The doctors and staff are are always kind and thorough. We are very appreciative of their services!
