We lost our dearest dog One month ago. Dr. Bsa and the staff, especially Crystal, were very professional and made the loss of a family member just a little easier. We have gone for services here in the past and even in the most stressful situations they have always Been very respectful, professional and thoughtful in how they approach each situation. I highly recommend them.

The entire staff should be commended for the excellent care of our 2-year-old Boxer. We were treated timely and respectfully. Our puppy was quite lethargic (very unusual) and we were very concerned about our “baby”..... lots of tests were performed, sent home with meds and recommendations. They followed up with test results the following day (earlier than expected) and lots of reassurance. I wouldn’t hesitate to bring any of our animals to them, ever! Thank you, Boston Road Animal Hospital!!! Arnie is feeling better thanks to all of you ....

Very bad Place. For Profit Business. Care nothing for your animal. Dog Sliced his paw on ice and it is gushing blood faster than i seen blood come from animal or human.......And they require Money upfront. Due to its Christmas. We are completely broke for this emergency. They rather have the Dog Die than take a Risk on payment. Will NEVER bring my animal to place like this. and if he dies due to this there will be hell to pay. But got bandaged tight and seems to be slowing down. i tried care credit but not enough credit so got denied.....Tried my Vet Which WILL fix the animal before worrying about payment but his emergency number goes to this Hell Hole.....Worried about 4$ in stitches.........

I cant believe how well i was treated the wait was long but its to be expected its an emergency room. They were really nice and I was hesitating to go in because of the reviews. But it was quiet the opposite. Thank you very much VCA

Brought an older GSD here a while back due to coughing/dry heaving/drooling etc. They took x-rays and told us that it was no doubt lung cancer and our only option was to have her put down. Went to another vet for a second opinion and all it was was pneumonia. She lived another 3 years.

J LeClerc

Our dog was taken in right away on a stretcher, as an emergency, as our elderly dog was in extreme difficulty. We had to have our beloved dog put to sleep as her condition was irreversible. We were treated respectfully and in a caring manner. I would recommend this clinic to anyone, even though the wait can be long when they are extra busy.

THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING!!!!!! THE WAY THEY TREAT PEOPLE AND PETS!!!!! DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!! I GIVE NO STARS BUT IN ORDER TO POST I HAVE TO PUT 1 STAR. WENT TO PICK UP MY PET'S ASHES AND PICK UP MY CARRIER THAT THEY PROMISED THEY WOULD HAVE PUT ASIDE FOR ME FOR WHEN I PICKED UP THE ASHES TO FIND OUT THAT THEY LOST IT AND POSSIBLY DONATED IT WITHOUT TELLING ME!! THEIR ANSWER IS THAT THEY HAVE LOTS OF CARRIERS THERE THAT IT GOT MIXED UP- NOT A GOOD SIGN! CANT EVEN TAKE CARE OF A CARRIER CANT IMAGINE THE TYPE OF CARE MY CAT ACTUALLY DID GET WHILE SHE WAS THERE OVERNIGHT GETTING HOSPITALIZED!! DEALING WITH THE LOST OF A PET IS NOT EASY AND THEN HAVING TO DEAL WITH THIS AND THEIR TOTAL DISREGARD FOR MY PROPERTY IS DISGUSTING! MY WHOLE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PLACE WAS AWFUL AS SOON AS I STEPPED FOOT AT THAT FACILITY I FELT PUSHED ASIDE AND NOT AT ALL VALUED EVEN THOUGH I DROPPED A LOT OF MONEY THERE!!!!! ALL THEY KEPT SAYING TO ME IS THAT THEY ARE SO BUSY WITH OTHER PETS SO THEREFORE MY PET WASN'T IMPORTANT ENOUGH FOR THEM!

Years ago I bought 2 cats there to be put down as my regular vet did not perform it. They were so kind during an obviously traumatic time I decided then and there that if I ever got another kitty, I'd bring her to Boston Road Animal Hospital. Well, 2 years later I was finally ready to adopt another. I brought her yesterday for a check up and continue to be impressed! They are helpful, kind and very friendly and professional. I'm so glad I decided to change vets! Definitely worth the trip if you're not from Springfield!!

Alexis Morales

Awful, these people are so over priced it’s ridiculous! Specially when their located in Springfield with many of the families in Springfield being low income families! You would think their more budget friendly and reasonably price - but that’s not the case. The better business bureau should check them out and check those prices, because just to walk through the doors it’s automatically $118 dollars! And sometimes what the animal is experiencing can wait till the vet sees them! The staff is a bit rude and snotty. Again, if you visit them be prepared to shed out a ton of money for them to check your dogs temperature and “vital signs”! Truly disgusting what these people charge. Even my vet agreed that they are extremely over priced. But hey, that’s corporate America!

Grimlip Slimepit

These idiots owe me $106, said they were gonna send me a check two months ago, and still no check. No one seems to know what is going on, sending a refund check is beyond their capabilities. Don't do business with these incompetent jerks, they're quick to take your money, but getting any back is like pulling teeth!!

Pete DeForge

Absolutely terrible, go anywhere else. they do not even deserve one star. They are a for profit business and that is how you and your pet will be treated

Lori Jorg

I would not even give this place a one star they would get a negative star after the story I just heard. My poor neighbors found out their baby boy of 11 years had prostate cancer, when they called to see what they could do to make his quality of life better, they engaged in a conversation as he was very choked up from the devastating news, the person on the other end of the line listened and offered some advice (the same advice that was given in office), conversation maybe lasted 15 minutes or so. Later in the mail came a bill for over $100 with a description of "phone consultation" ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! Heartless very heartless.

Be careful of this place. My friends dog got hit by a car. They couldn't afford the $5000 surgery. They told her it was best to put her down since she couldnt afford it. They had already paid over $1000 for the visit. They told us it would be best to put her down than so she wouldn't suffer. We asked to bring her in the room. Her pup perked up and was responsive. We decided to take her home. If she was going to pass we wanted her with family. We asked for pain meds for her. We were told we were cruel and inhumane for letting her suffer. We were told she had internal bleeding. Which we found later to be untrue. Needless to say she didn't have internal bleeding just a broken leg. Which pain meds helped with and help from their vet. She is full of life now and running and playing. They wanted to kill her dog in her most vulnerable moment. Also reprimanded us for not doing it. Glad we didn't listen!!!! She is healthy and doing great now. Don't let them put your pet down!!!

They are very nice people there they help all very well with animals and I very like to place is very clean and everything very nice place

Our dog had a stroke. He was in a bad way and he needed to be put down. He was in pain, crying and not himself. We cried and took him to the hosp. They took him to the "back" for an hour... without medication. Only and IV. He was alone for an hour, shaking, trying to wait to see us again.. and the vet says, "His stomach has turned over". The vet wanted another $800 for more tests and we already knew the answer. We asked to have our precious baby put to sleep with us. She cried as well, and after all was said and done, at least he went peacefully. I'm sorry, but these people are horrible. Horrible! How dare you try to tell me my dog has a twisted stomach when he clearly is gone. Already gone. I even pulled up a youtube video of another dog with the same issues.. and she still insisted it was his stomach. My vet agreed, we did the right thing. Good bye baby; goodbye to this horrible place. Never again.

Very pricey but offers emergency pet services.

Brought my dog here on September 27 and I spent over 7 hours here for them to X-ray him, and put a popsicle stick on his toe. For over 600 dollars I could have done the same thing but they only had one doctor here as well working. For a place this big and to charge that much they could at least have more doctors or better pricing.

Please check out their Facebook page, it clearly describes a situation that truly makes you comfortable in knowing that there is a hospital like this. I have read the bad reviews, I can say this, that I'm not sure the experiences would be any better at South Deerfield emergency hospital. They never seem to have enough veterinarians on staff. Today there was 1 veterinarian, that's it. How can any animal get the proper attention... can be helped quick enough so it doesn't suffer... the pet cannot. My experience at this hospital today both with the staff and the veterinarian was incredible. My pet was shown love and compassion, they kept letting me know what was going on. The pricing was what I expected, I walked in to a 24 hour emergency hospital that has the tools, the equipment, the Veterinarians available to help an animal in need so it was a fair price for what they have to offer. Thank you and please don't change, especially with your staff. Caitlin, pregnant girl who cleaned up puke and poop with a smile and last but most important the lovely Dr. Pattilo.

Raven Tirado

Don't ever bring your pet to this hospital because they do not care about your animal unless you have money! I brought my 8 week old puppy there yesterday after he was physically thrown across the room by the mother. My dog landed on his neck and immediately looked like he went into a seizure. Brought my dog in to make sure he was okay, but because I didn't have the money to pay for his treatment at that moment, they refused to treat my dog or give him any testing. At the end of it all they gave me my dog back in worse condition than what I brought him in! When they gave him back to me my dog's tongue was hanging out of his mouth his body was still locked up and they told me if he gets worse to send him back. I nurtured him all night long separate from the other puppies to make sure he was okay. Today they sent the MSPCA to my house with concerns of my dog eating marijuana. Just an assumption an not one test done to prove anything!!! How do you get any of that from his situation when I told the doctor he was literally okay before he was thrown? They were so concerned about my dog and swallowing marijuana but refuse to treat my dog because I was unable to pay them last night!! When they gave me my dog he look like he was dying and told me good luck. Are you kidding me?!?! This place is a joke. all they're worried about is the money that they make, they don't care about your dog they, don't care about your feelings, or anything else. I will never ever ever bring another animal to this hospital for any reason whatsoever and I will be filing a complaint with them.

Andrea Girard

Amazing staff, service and care. Extremely thorough and attentive . From the moment we arrived the care was outstanding. Thank you to Joanna, Emmanula Tyler for you kindness and professionalism. Dr. Nastase is probably one of the best vets I’ve ever experienced. He was very seasoned, meticulous, kind and confident. I would go back to this team of people for my pet care hands down every time. Thank you again.

Kim D.

I understand they are for profit but there is a line. Called this morning for an issue my dog gets every couple of months and an issue they have seen my dog on MULTIPLE times usually on a Sunday. Asked if I could come in and just get (and pay for ) enough antibiotic to get thru till Monday when my vet opens. You have all his records. I was told NO you have to come in and see the Dr. yes, it’s $100 to walk in the door and we will have to run atleast $200. Worth of tests? Would not even let me speak to a Dr or have a Dr call me back. They have all his records and have at least 4 of this issue on file!! Not asking for hard drugs I am asking for ONE dose of antibiotic to get my dog thru till tomorrow. One Dose stops the swelling within 2 hrs

Very good care. Very nice staff.

It's Me

Emergency room operator hung up on me while I was asking a simple billing question. Will I be billed and will my cat be returned to me if I cannot pay for the services at this time? Lack of people skills and knowledge for a person who answers calls in an emergency department.

They took such good care of Maggie overnight and were always friendly. They provide updates pretty frequently and are always available to answer the phone and happy to give an update if you are like me and worry too much

BOTH TIMES I WENT THERE MONEY FIRST THEN HE WILL TREAT THE PET WITH AN EMERGENCY AND THEY REFUSE TO TREAT PET WITHOUT 350.00 AT LEAST THAT MUCH OR MORE. THE DOCTOR WANTS TO BE SURE THAT HE GETS PAID OR HE WONT TREAT PET ALSO, THEY ALWAYS PUT IN A VEIN CATHETER AT A SUBSTANTIAL CHARGE. MY NEIGHBORS DOG GOT HIS LITTLE THROAT BIT OUT AND THEY WOULDN'T TREAT THAT LITTLE DOG WITHOUT FULL PAYMENT. THIS IS A CONSISTENT BEHAVIOR WITH THESE EXTORTIONERS.

Been there 3 times for an emergency and they are a big rip off. Charged me $2,700 over a 16 hour period and when I told them I only had another $300 they told me to come get my dog. I brought my Yorker back home half dead and nursed her back to health myself. The other two time brought her in and they barely did anything and overcharged me as well. It's a shame that they are the only ER Vet in the area.

I took my 3 year old golden in because of vomiting and not eating. It was on a Saturday so my own vet was closed. The first thing they wanted to do was run major test and X-rays. That cost was $454.00 I agreed to pay that. Then they said they wanted to keep her overnight for an additional $1016.00. That is when I decided to take her home. To my surprise they gave me an outpatient option for 168.00 additional. I said no. I asked them for some nauseous medicine and charged me an additional $150.00. These people should be arrested. They know they have you over a barrel. By the way it was just stomach flu. Never take you pet to them.

I brought my dog Kash in due to the fact he had a testicular torsion and although they didn't do the surgery. They helped keep Kash comfortable and diagnosis him. All the doctor's/veterinary technicians and staff were excellent and took great care of my baby. Thanks To Everyone At VCA Boston Road Animal Hospital..

Worst experience I ever had at a Veterinary Hospital. My b/f and I had a cat that was very sweet and affectionate, and quite suddenly came down with a heart condition. He was really the best cat we've ever had, or we would not have gone through such great lengths to try to save him. Generally we go to North King Animal Clinic, which is a great place, the Vet there is straight forward, helpful, and does not try to nickel and dime you. But, there was a very good specialist we began to go to at VCA. She was smart, and really cared. However, when my cat passed a clot, I was forced to go to VCA even though the specialist was not there at the time. He could no longer feel his front paw, so they put him on blood thinners and sent him home. A day later, her passed the clot to his whole back half----due to the blood thinners. I rushed him back to the hospital. He was throwing up violently, and was in a lot of pain. He was the nicest cat in the world, and almost never made any noise throughout the months of procedures we put him through to figure out the heart problem. He would let us feed him all of his meds without struggle, but suddenly he was crying in pain. They made me wait for an hour without seeing anyone. I just sat in the waiting room, my heart breaking with every cry he made. Finally, I got up and demanded to see someone. I don't normally do this, but it was a little over an hour by that point and I thought the cat was going to die in agony in the waiting room. So, they took him and refused to let me go with him. Then, they sat me in another room for a half an hour with no one saying anything to me. Finally, a doctor came in and said that the clot had moved, which I already knew. He never introduced himself, and after saying that one sentence to me, simply left. I got ahold of the specialist on the phone, and she was very sympathetic and told me they would likely have to put him down. After waiting another 20 minutes, the doctor came back with a sheet for me to sign to put my cat down. I asked if there was anything else we could do, and he said, "well, looks like you missed an appointment, maybe we could have done something then." At that point, I was shaking with rage. We had spent thousands of dollars on this cat, I had gone to several appointments every week for months to the specialist to other doctors, and we had him on all kinds of medications. I NEVER missed an appointment. To which all I could say was, "excuse me? I've never missed any appointments." Then he flipped the page and said, "Oh, I was looking at the wrong chart. I guess I could set up a plan for your cat, but it would be expensive..." Since, we had already spent so much money on the cat, I thought it was strange that he would say this to me. I told him to do that, and he sighed dramatically like I was wasting his precious time. Eventually he came back with a bunch more paperwork, which showed us that even if we spent tens of thousands on the cat, it would just prolong his suffering and there was almost no chance it would improve his situation. If the Vet had explained to me the situation, he would have saved himself the trouble of crunching the numbers. So, we were forced to put our cat down. I've had cats my entire life, and I've had to put many of them down due to cancer, old age, various other illnesses, but I have never had an experience like that. The Vet was so callous and lacked any understanding or empathy for the situation. I will never go to this hospital again, and I recommend that everyone else should steer clear.

The staff, from reception to veterinarians were exceptional when I brought my dog in on 11/01/2018 for a suspected fractured paw. Their care, courtesy & professionalism extended into every service. My little guy is much better off knowing that this hospital is available for emergency services-especially late at night. Erin was my vet tech and she was exceptional! Can't say enough great things about her. Thanks again guys!

Brought my pup here because she started having small bald patches. Walk in the door first thing they say is you need to pay the visit fee up front. Fine. I pay that which is $139. Then sat in the room with her for about an hour they come in take her and run a few tests leaving me in the room for another hour and a half. Come out and say oh she has demodectic mange. I’ll prescribe you nexgaurd (flea and tick med) for 3 months but we’re going to ship it to you. Well the visit was on Saturday today’s Friday and it still hasn’t come in the mail. I just don’t understand how hard it is to keep these meds on hand. Especially when you’re paying a high premium for the visit.

This past week I had brought my dog Lucky to BRAH because he had suffered a stroke. Everyone there where very compassionate to my dogs situation. It was very painful to have toput him down but it could have been much worse if nobody there cared. I'd like to say thank you to all the staff.

Been here 2 hours and 45 minutes... Easily over an hour we have been waiting for meds and The bill... This place sucks... It's all about the money.... I'm so pissed sitting here waiting to pay I could scream but my wife won't let me... They are kinda busy today but COME ON... IT SHOULDN'T TAKE THIS LONG FOR MEDS AND PAPERWORK...... Hope as little people as possible need this place.. By that I rush your pets good health and goodbye

The only vet that would take my dog without an appointment. He was suffering and we could not wait hours like other places wanted us to. Staff were quick to get us privacy, kind and empathetic. This was a hard time for my family, and I am glad our dog didnt have to suffer hours more. Thank you.

While visiting in East Longmeadow my one yr old French bulldog was hit by a car. Thank God he wasn't seriously hurt. But I didn't know that as my girlfriend drove us to the veterinarians. The emergency staff was wonderful. Although they were very busy and the wait was extremely long to check out. I would recommend them any day. Thank you for the care you gave my Baby Bean.

Virginia Mercurio

We were in town for the Big E/visiting family. Our dog got something in his very sensitive ears that caused so much discomfort, he wouldn’t let us see. The staff here were very welcoming and quick to help. We saw Dr. Lindsay, and she was wonderful. Very calm, patient, and helpful with us and our dog, who was very nervous about being in such a strange place. We were put at such ease, it was like being at our own vet. I would definitely bring my dog back here if the need arose. Very good quality care.

They were so professional and compassionate with my 22 year old cat. Very knowledgeable and I am forever greatful. Dr. Tabitha was amazing. Thank you all. ⭐ Update, my cat was very sick and had to be put to sleep yesterday. Dr. Lytle was very knowledgeable and supportive. Anna the tech was so sweet and compassionate. Everyone we encountered were very sweet and understanding. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You all are amazing.

Get ready to sell your soul for money, very expensive. They love to focus on financial than have a care in the world. My dog was prescribed pills for seizures and that lasted one night. After taking them she never woke up and passed away in her sleep.

Extremely bad service. I walked in at 1045am two dogs ahead of me. An hour later one person left the other dog was seen. Three dogs and a cat came in after me and all got seen before I left. I left at 1235 and got a call at 220 telling me they are ready for me to be seen. Terrible service horrible customer service /human beings there. They could care less about my dog limping and crying for almost two hours instead focused on dogs they deemed were more worthy of receiving care. Disgusting service and ppl.

I will never bring my dog here ever again! I recently got my dog from a local animal shelter. About a week after his adoption he was lethargic and had snot and blood coming from his nose. In a state of panic I took my dog here, it being the closest 24 hour service on a Saturday. We came to the hospital at 3 pm and were immediately taken from the waiting room into an exam room. They took all of our paperwork and we were charged the $118 less than 5 minutes in. We were patient after the first hour and a half of waiting. We asked when we would be seen and were told we were next in line. At this point my dog was so lethargic he couldn't lift his head and notice people entering the room. A technician came in after a 3 hour wait and decided to do a parvo test. We asked to see the doctor first BEFORE the exam as we didnt think he needed it. He wasn't showing symptoms and had been vaccinated for it less than a month ago. The technician said that we wouldnt be able to see or speak to the doctor about it before hand. In my opinion this test was done as a place holder and a way for them to say they did some type of treatment towards my dog. Even though he had already been vaccinated and wasnt showing symptoms At 4 hours in I had tears in my eyes over the state of my dog and that fact that NO ONE was tending to him. We found a staff person who AGAIN said we were next in line. But no one ever came. At 8pm we had had enough and took the dog to the NEVCCC and he was seen in less than 5 minutes. At 8:30 pm VCA called, said the Dr. was ready to see us! But we were not there and had already been taken in elsewhere. Our dog was extremely sick and had to be hospitalized with a respiratory infection. He had to stay overnight and receive medicine and fluids. With out a doubt our 5 hour wait at the VCA contributed to his worsening deterioration. 5 hours we waited there. 5 hours and we were never serviced or shown care. We were 100% taken advantage of because of the stress of the situation. While we we not charged for the Parvo, we were charged $118 ( exam fee ) for a service we absolutely did not receive! I am disgusted in this place and would rather drive the 45 to receive proper care at NEVCCC for my dog, than the 2 minute drive to VCA on Boston road. NEVER AGAIN !!! TLDR; 5 hour wait, never seen by the doctor, $118 for services we never received, resulted in my dog needing to be hospitalized.

Seen.quickly but sevice seemed slow and veee÷ry expensive

If your pet is in need of urgent care please don't bring them here. They will suggest for you to put them down instead of giving them the care they need not to mention they cost way to much.

Brian Anderson

Awesome vet!

Keith Melanson

My parents went here today to put down our dog of 14 years it was a extremely hard decision but they did not want her to suffer anymore. The Veterinarian that saw them was extremely rude and told them that they needed to run $1000 worth of tests. And that it was not their decision to make. This is unacceptable. They have done everything they feel they can and have done lots of treatments unfortunately this young woman thought it was OK to talk to my parents that were already upset like they were criminals. Shame on you. You know who you are.

Timothy Mercier

My dog got into a bag of grapes so we brought her to the VCA on Boston Road and although they are expensive the staff was very friendly and accommodating with visitations and updates

Chloe Cincotta

Everyone there is super professional

Cedriq Clemente

Took my dog to them after his previous vet passed away wherein we ended up looking for available veterinary clinics for him to go to. Glad we were able to schedule Snickers at VCA Boston Rd, I can tell how huge of a difference it is from his past vet and so far we’re loving the care and attention he was given by all of the staff. The price is quite above average but at least you get what you really pay for on this one. Also, thank you Dr. Chow!

Candy Alexx

It is not worth the money. This VCA hospital in Springfield is way over-priced and they do not care about your pet as much as they do the money. My 4 months old German Shepherd was having a bladder problem and to get her tested cost almost 500 dollars. All they could do was charge me 370 dollars for a generic brand of pills, that don’t even work! If you have a local vet, just save you’re time and money and see that vet instead. I only went here cause I was desperate and wanted to get my dog seen, but they did nothing for her. This place is lowkey a scam.

We visited VCA when my dog was get by a car and it was a great experience, they took our dog right away and their customer service was a key point to why we stayed so calm and reinsured that our dog would be okay .

Heather Landry

Worst experience ever. My dog, 1 year old, forced to lay on the ground for 3 1/2 hours while waiting for answers. They wouldn't listen to what I formally requested and went on their way with what they thought was best (which wasn't). Paid for x rays, that weren't necessary but they wouldn't listen. After 2 hours I requested a Lyme disease test, that I had to fight for them to take, they explained how it should have been requested requested first (which was mentioned several times during the exam before x Rays) After 3 1/2 hours and over $500 bill, they still couldn't tell me what was wrong with her. They were very inconsiderate and the vet, himself, kept changing scenarios because he didn't understand what was happening. I would never recommend any one taking their pet here. They're are much cleaner, cheaper and better knowledgeable veterinarians out there.

We had to put our family dog down after 16 years. The staff were so accommodating, gentle, compassionate, understanding, patient, and kind. They made it easier to let go of our great friend. I knew the prices up front and there were no surprises. We asked for him to be placed in a box so that we can bury him in the back yard, they even went as far as making a flower out of gauze and taped it to the box. A couple of weeks later they sent us a card giving their condolences, describing our family friend and the time they spent with him, along with the paw imprint we requested. Thank you to the doctor and staff that helped us on this very emotional day.

What can I say Thank you for the great service with my new puppy

I brought my three year old tabby Marty in for a bladder blockage Thursday. They basically gave me two options. A little over one thousand dollars to treat him and take him home. Option two was three thousand for him to stay there for two days after the procedure. I make fourteen dollars an hour. I took option one with my high apr credit card. I brought him home and he died at four thirty Friday afternoon. I know they sent him home knowing he had no chance but they took my money anyway. I don't know what else to say. My son and I are heartbroken. At least he died with people who cared.

They got me in right away. I called on tues because my vet was unable to do the surgery because she had cut her thumb and the surgery was in need of sooner rather than later .My tiffi moon needs a surgery to remove a fluid filled uterus which is a hydro Mitra before it get infected. I was seen today 8-3-17 and they are putting her in tomorrow. Dr Diamond was very easy to talk to and really addressed all of my questions which put me at easy. I am feeling confident that everything that needs to be done will be addressed with the utmost of care. I'LL be reporting more on how the surgery went as soon as the surgery is done and adequate time has elapsed so we can see what the results will be.

Bad experience. Where is the professionalism of the doctor. She point my husband in the face. We have an american bully dog, beautiful, healthy and extremely ell maintain. They put bad things in our dogs record. Mad and sad too... Expensive...

They were very good at taking care of my dog.

By far the worst place to bring your pet..They absolutely do not care for your pet..they only care for the money and they make it very clear. If your in the area east field animals hospital is less than 5 min up the street. There price are way more reasonable and they actually care..

Diane Branchesi

The staff and doctor were very caring. It was our first time with Chip on an emergency visit. The doctor spent time explaining options and answered all our questions. They called the next morning to check on him. Wonderful experience.

Staff is friendly and accommodating with your pets best interests in mind! They treat you with respect and listen carefully. Superb ER for the furbabies.

Victoria Fournier

Brought mt slightly aggressive oitbul mix in today. She waa treated with the same kindness as a friendly dog. They were attentive. The wait times were a little long but it was very busy there. I was expecting the price to be crazy. With being seen getting medicine and one test done it came to a little less than $200..not bad at all... Will definitely come back ****update**** They have called maybe like 5 times to check on her and see how she is doing. We will defibitely be back should the need arise and we will definitely be recommending!

The doctor was very nice and knowledgeable; but the receptionists were extremely rude! I returned on 9/07/18 to discuss our dog's initial visit. The receptionist spoke down to me like I was ignorant. She keep emphasizing that I needed to make a follow up appointment. Why would I make a follow up appointment at a place that doesn't know how to properly speak to people! The best attributes about VCA are the doctor and her assistant. Our baby will NEVER return to that place! VCA would need to transform the receptionists!

I’ve been here several times for after hours emergencies with my dogs. The staff is caring and kind. The doctors are compassionate and knowledgeable. Emergencies with pets are always stressful, but are always made a little less worrisome at this emergency vet. Thank you again for taking such good care of my fur babies. <3

I went for an emergency with my doggy and she didn't make it.

our dog was having cluster seizures from a brain tumor. We brought her to the emergency room and after test were conducted the decision was made to euthanize. The doctor and staff were very consoling and treated our dog with love and care until the end. The doctor was very knowledgeable and enabled us in making our decision. We were given time to be with our dog and to grieve. The staff also was very kind in planning our dogs cremation. The kindness towards our dog and our family was very much appreciated. Highly recommend.

Brought my sick 17 year old cat, all they talked about was money and how they needed it up front, $1500 to possibly save her, later that was dropped to $750...up front. I begged them to bill me to the following Wednesday(payday) three days away. They didn't, blamed it on too many people screwing them over. In the end, I made the decision to let her go, I only asked for an inkpad and a piece of paper to take a paw print. They promised me a paw print in clay as part of the euthanasia and cremation costs. For four weeks, I made a payment towards the balance, each time asking about the paw prints, each time a different person told me that they were there and I could pick them up. Towards my last payment, I asked about the paw prints, they told me that they didn't have them. There is nothing humane about this place. It is a corporation that is only after the dollar.

I have a 4 year old Great Dane. He was chasing a squirrel through our neighborhood in Back Bay. He jumped over some piles of stuff in our neighbor's backyard & must have caught his sack on part of the pile. He had a 2" laceration that was bleeding pretty bad. I'm a medical doctor, so I was trying to control the bleeding while my partner called the vet. Atlas was not having any of it with my hands near his package & kept yelping and biting at me when I was gently holding the gauze. Our vet had just closed and they do not offer after hours emergency services. They recommended that we go to VCA. Normally, that's not our part of town, but Atlas needed immediate care & the blood was getting everywhere at this point. We got to the hospital and were greeted by a fabulous young lady at the front desk. She saw the blood all over our clothes & thought we had a bigger accident than it was. She was able to get us into a room quickly and the vet arrived to assess the situation. He was able to see that the slice on the scrotum was not serious, but deep enough to slightly expose Atlas' right jewel. Since he's a pb and we breed him, we need to protect his assets. The procedure took a little longer, but we were made comfortable while we waited. The bill was a bit higher than expected, but it was well worth the expense. We didn't get rung up for extra charges as others have commented. Atlas wound up staying overnight to heal up and we enjoyed a very nice dinner at Del Frisco's. The next day, the same young lady was there to greet us and said that Atlas had done very well overnight. He didn't look like they beat on him or that he was stressed out in any way. Just so you know, Atlas is a very physical dog and loves to play rough. It's not uncommon for him to knock people around & he gets it right back. He has a lot of fun & may have learned his lesson. If we ever feel that we are in that part of town again, we would surely stop in to greet the staff again. They helped us as much as we would expect and the experience was satisfactory. Atlas has been able to resume his breeding duties, but his squirrel chasing days are over. We're looking to build something more contained in our yard that will allow him to chase some animals without the hazards of our neighbor's rubbish. I mean, who throws away a Plasma Premium and Santa Cruz Tallboy in the same trash cycle?! It's like going to an evening party wearing a black suit with a blue tie. Crazy!

Brought in my dog because he was having problems walking, was in pain, and acting very sick. The vet we saw was extremely arrogant, and instantly decided the problem was muscle atrophie. Even though there were a number of other symptoms that clearly made it not a muscle problem, he refused to listen to a word we said. We had friends with a dog who had similar symptoms to ours who was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, and when we brought it up with the vet at VCA, he just waved us off and did nothing. After spending literally over a thousand dollars for 3 visits to VCA where they did absolutely nothing, (maybe one urine test) we took the dog to a different vet who immediately diagnosed the problem as an autoimmune disorder. Unfortunately by that time it was too late and my dog died. Also, they wanted over $500 to spay a 10lbs dog. They are the worst.

I can't even believe this hospital. My poor grandparents brought their extremely sick, elderly dog in to be put down. She couldn't walk, clearly suffered from incontinence, and was 18 years old. But the veterinarian insisted that the dog was suffering and unhealthy before they would put it down. So they charged them almost $400 in tests ALONE before they agreed that the dog was sick and should be euthanized, which was even more money. I can't believe how greedy this veterinarian is. It just goes to show you that not all vets in the VCA network are good, some are just in it to make as much money as possible. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!!

I have been taking my dogs here ever since I got my first dog back in 2011. Although they are a bit pricier than other places, they provide such great care to my dogs and its convenient being able to pay a regular wellness exam price if I ever need to bring my dogs through the emergency side. The staff is wonderful. My dogs have been seen by a couple different doctors due to others moving away and every single doctor has always been completely up front and honest with me. They never steer me in the wrong direction. What I love the most is how patient they are with my oldest dog. He is so timid and is the biggest baby when hes at the vet. They move slow with him and earn his trust with cookies which makes the experience as good as it can be. I will always trust VCA Boston Road Animal Hospital with my dogs. Between my dad and I we have (now) four dogs who we bring there and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. Also would like to say how great Dr. Frattini is! I have seen him on two different occasions in the past couple weeks. He was amazing with both my boys. As stated above my oldest boy is so timid especially with men and Dr. Frattini was so patient with him and knew just what to do to earn his trust! It's a bummer hes only there temporarily because I tried to request him as my primary wellness vet for all my dogs. He even remembered my other dogs name who he had seen almost 2 weeks prior and asked how he was doing and gave me a bit more advice on his condition even though I was there with my other dog for an unrelated reason. He is very easy to talk to and was happy to listen to what I had to say and took his time with me and my dogs. I'll always reccomend this place!

This was the worst experience at a vet that I have ever had.... my cat hurt his paw it took 4 hours to be seen then he had a negative reaction to the medication and was sent home ......this place is a RIP off... 139.50 to walk in the door...this is a bad place. Money money money is all they want... I would not reccomend this place at all...

Was a little skeptical at first as they did ask for all the money upfront, but in emergency situation had no choice, however the service and care was the best, they followed up with me on everything and the care that they provided for our pet was outstanding, hopefully won't have to deal with emergencies, but if I do I will go there without any hesitation.

My dog was sprawled on the cold cement floor for three hours and nothing was done with her. She was breathing heavily and couldn't move because her limbs gave out. They were forcing me to pay $2,000 up front or my dog wouldn't get treated unless the full amount was paid. I obviously didn't have that much money (I think I only had $50 on my debit card), so I brought her home and treated her myself. My dog had lyme disease. P L E A S E D O N ' T E V E N W A S T E Y O U R M O N E Y OR T I M E ! Find a private vet clinic and go there.

My French Bulldog, Ellie was recently seen and treated by the staff at VCA Boston Road Animal Hospital for aspiration pneumonia. My mother and father had brought her in, during the blizzard on 3/14/2017. My boyfriend and I were stuck in Detroit, MI trying to return from vacation. I needed to reach out and thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving my dogs life. I was an absolute wreck, for the fact that she was going through this, and that I couldn’t be there with her, but my mother reassured me that she was in the very best place possible- and she really was. From the beginning bringing her into care, to the very end- the communication, professionalism and outstanding medical ethics displayed in your facility was excellent. My mother was allowed to visit her in my absence- and the staff was welcoming, telling her how much they loved my Ellie. (That itself was so good to hear) I probably spoke to 4 different physicians throughout her stay, and every question I had, and any information relayed to me was consistent. I requested my vet in Vermont stay in the loop, and the information exchange between both facilities was seamless, which helped on my end SO much. Finally, Ellie was discharged with a detailed care plan, and I felt very supported taking her home to start her outpatient treatment. I know that we still have a rocky road to her being 100%, but I know without a doubt that I wouldn’t be able to hold her in my arms alive - if it wasn’t for the wonderful medical staff at VCA Boston Road. For that, my family and myself cannot thank you enough. I would recommend your services to anyone tenfold!

Dr Amy Alwood DVM DACVECC the board certified critical care specialist at VCA Boston Road Animal hospital is a hidden gem here in the pioneer valley. In the past 3 ½ months I have had two different dogs become patients of hers. One in an emergency situation (post-surgery pneumonia) and the other with a potentially very serious chronic condition. With both my dogs Dr Alwood treated the dogs with compassion and showed incredible empathy for both of us. She listened to all my concerns, was extremely patient with all my unending questions and took the time to explain what was happening clearly and fully. Having your dog treated by a complete stranger in a critical situation is a very scary proposition for anyone but I personally was comforted by the fact that Dr Alwood not only had extensive experience per her bio on the VCA BRAH website but also had several years of additional education and the board certification to back it up. Thank you Dr Alwood and your team for being there for us. Martha, Timber and Artemis

Front desk staff was compationate and welcoming. Dr Skribiski and Dr Puza were excellent and comforted me while I put my 14 year old baby to sleep. The technicians were also wonderful from the moment we were checked in. This is an emergency room. Expect wait times just as you would at a human ER. The staff did everything they could to get us in and out while still explaining every test, charge and diagnosis. My dog was like a child to me. I wouldn’t bring my animals to just any hospital. There are other options out there but the staff at Boston Road put their hearts into what they do and I’ll be forever grateful. Thank you all !!

Amazing urgent care for your pets. They also provide standard vet care, but I've never used them for that. My two experiences with their urgent care staff have been as pleasant as possible when a pet is sick or injured.

Not going to lie very pricey but my poor little dog got attacked by another dog last night and they immediately took him in. They took really good care of him.

I highly recommend if you love your animal and want proper care to go to Specs in West Hartford CT 993 North Main st.

I came in on a very busy night; the staff was attentive to everyone as they walked in the door. The vet tech took vitals and assessed my dog immediately, the doctors seem to sincerely love their job. It was a long wait after the tech took vitals, but understandably so.

I would like to say that my story has a happy ending, but unfortunately I sit here with my beloved cocker spaniel who has a tumor growing larger & larger on her right ear. While she is 16 years old, and we said that we would not take dramatic measures, they assured us that she would probably make it through the surgery to remove the tumor, but didn’t care to work with us to make it affordable. Furthermore, they were our “2nd opinion,” but we found out that they had spoken to the first surgeon that we had visited in Ct. Why should a 2nd opinion be a remix of the 1st one, but with another $1500 added on?? Smells fishy to me. Bottom line- it’s a business, so please don’t tell me that our pet is your first concern.

Chicks Fix

Charged me a lot and still had no idea what was wrong with my dog... She got worse!

amazing staff, I take my dog there about 4 times a month, all the vets an assistants are so nice and patient, it's the best place around here, but there is an old lady in the front she's so rude and won't even listen. Just try not to ask anything to her, she never makes an effort to help. if you have a particular problem please go and ask the young ladies.

Theresa Dill

This place is awesome. Have two dogs and wouldn't go anywhere else. Had to bring my fur baby to emergency on Christmas and New Year's Eve. She was bit by a bug and was allergic to it. Saw the skin specialist and they did a biopsy. Before they did anything they went over everything with us and gave us prices for which options we could do. That was a yr ago. Now we have another pup and has a sensitive tummy. Just say we go there often. And I call if I have any questions about either one. Our fur babies are our world. Dc Mellon and dc Seymour are amazing. For us the prices weren't bad considering we found out results and we can't would a price tag on our fur babies health.
