They gave the best of care to both my dogs at all times and they were always respectful and polite to me.This past February I had to let my almost 14 yr. old peke-poo go, it was her time. I was in pieces, and they were there for me with kind words, hugs and even a special paw print of my Zoe that they molded for me. If and when I get another dog, I will be back there with bells on. His follow up calls on treatment success shows caring.Actually I thought they would name a treatment room after my kids - My son & daughter also use their services for their pets. After years of using them I cannot find one complaint about the way I have been treated and if my little ones could talk I think they wouldn't complain either. 5 stars is really not the appropriate rating and should be a 10 star rating. We have gone through regular physicals, shots, neutering, cancer, allergies, teeth cleanings & euthanasia. I have never thought of going elsewhere for a vet.Used others prior.

Stoneham Animal Hospital, it's staff and Dr. Mark Jawitz are incredible. I recently had to put my baby girl Jesse down. She was really sick. The compassion they showed me was incredible. I needed for Dr. Mark to see her so I called. I had been out of work and explained I had no money. He told me to bring her in and I could square things when I started work again. I work for a school system. He gave her meds and told me to call on Tuesday to give him an update. it was a long holiday weekend. Over that weekend she got worse. I called Monday nite and left a message. They called me back first thing Tuesday morn, even b4 they opened and told me he wanted to see her. she had a tumor in her mouth that burst open. I had to take her to the other place in Woburn and it was determined it was best for her what I had to do. Broke my heart. when Dr. J found out he called me and we spoke for a while. He made me feel better that the decision I made was the right one. I have been taking my moms dog, Toto, there since he was a pup, he passed at 16 yrs old. My baby Jesse was only 9 and he has had her since a pup. If I ever get another dog the only vet I will ever trust is Dr. J and his staff. If there were more than 5 stars up there they would get them all.

this is were i bring my cat to the vet - she get her yearly shots here - she gets her nails trimmed for free on a regualr basisi - i have had to boerd her here a couple times while on vacation and things went very well - i will be going away again and plan to have her stay there again. they are great with her cutting her nails - they get really long and they need to get cut and they are really good with her. She has gone to this vet since she was kitten. it is easily located

I have been taking our dogs to Dr Jawitz since 1993. I had a female black lab that lived to be almost 15 years old. Dr. Jawitz was her primary vet for that entire time. His personal and professional care was and always has been excellent. He has always been sensitive to both our dog's feelings and of our feelings. He explains what he is doing and why he is doing so for any treatments our dogs receive. We now have two female black labs, and they have been seen at SAH since they were puppies. We also have boarded our dogs at SAH and have always had good experiences/results. When I read others complaints about the attendants at the front desk, or the cost of the visits and care, I believe it casts an unfortunate negative light on the actual care and treatment of the animal. Veterinary care is not inexpensive. If you want inexpensive, treat your animal at home. (Have you ever looked at one of your own detailed hospital bills?) If you get placed on hold when calling and get irritated over it; you obviously do not make very many calls into offices or service centers. (How was your "hold time" the last time you called your cable company?) If I didn't have the utmost trust in the care and treatment my dogs received by both Dr Jawitz and the vet techs at SAH, I wouldn't continue to bring them there for care.

Re: In the Matter of Mark Colin Jawitz, VT 14-016. In or about September 2013, you submitted an Application for Complaint against Mark C. Jawitz to the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Veterinary Medicine. Your application led to a formal proceeding before the Board, which was recently resolved by Consent Agreement between the Board and Dr. Jawitz under which Dr. Jawitz paid a fine and received a Formal Reprimand. The participation of consumers like you is vital to the Board's performance of its duties. Your involvement and assistance in this matter have been greatly appreciated. Sincerely, D.K., Prosecuting Counsel, Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure, 1000 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02118 COMPLAINT: September 2013, Letter to Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure. Mark Jawitz, DVM, is negligent and guilty of veterinary malpractice. His license should be suspended. I mistakenly entrusted him with the care of my cat, for an examination and required vaccinations for a heath certificate, for our move to San Francisco. On 8/3/2011, I watched Jawitz give my cat a rabies vaccine in the lower right side rib cage area, and not in her right rear limb like he should have done. He could have asked me or a tech to assist, but instead he chose to administer the shot in the side. My cat has a Vaccination-Site Fibrosarcoma diagnosed by five veterinarians at two separate practices. My primary vet and pathologist diagnosed a possible Fibrosarcoma and referred me to a surgeon at a specialty practice. The surgeon removed the tumor and the second pathologist confirmed Vaccination-Site Fibrosarcoma. Because of Jawitz's negligence, my cat is terminally ill. All the veterinarians that I consulted (see attachments) said that the injection should have been administered in the back leg and confirmed that the correct method is well established and widely taught in veterinary school. Vaccination-Site Fibrosarcoma and its cause has been quite well known for years. Jawitz' actions in treating my cat are nothing short of negligent. My cat is terminally ill and dying. Because of Jawitz' malpractice, in the near future I will be forced to euthanize my otherwise healthy and vibrant cat. I trust that Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure will investigate Jawitz' malpractice noted in this complaint and take serious action. I found out too late that, Mark Colin Jawitz, (License # 3568) has two previous disciplinary actions taken against him. I wish I could give less than 1 star! Dr Jawitz doesn't care for the health of your pets, just the amount of money in your wallet! I've never seen a vet appointment last longer than 5 minutes. You can barely get a word in, let alone ask any important question regarding the health of your pet. The staff is nice but the Dr is very rude. After a VERY friendly conversation with the Dr over questioning the legitimacy of multiple appointments for continuous blood work, he mailed me a letter telling me to seek business elsewhere! My pet needed medication and shots and he refused to see him! Very shady! Stay away!

I've been a long time clients of Stoneham Animal Hospital and Dr. J going back to our first Black Lab almost 20 years ago. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the staff greet you in a friendly manner when you walk in the door. They are punctual and run on time in getting you in to see the vet without delay. I feel they take the time to get to know the animal and also spend time answering any questions I might have without making me feel rushed or that my concerns are not important. My dogs always love to "Go for a ride". The amazing thing is that when we end up at Stoneham Animal Hospital for our appointment there is no hesitation or reservation on the dogs part to get out of the car. She climbs right out and walks right in. I think this speaks volumes on how the Doctor and Staff interact with the animals from the animals perspective. If it was an unpleasant experience my dog would remember and not want to get out of the car. I would highly recommend using them as their service has always been top notch and personal.

I have been a client of Dr. Mark Jawitz and Stoneham Animal Hospital since February 2003 when I purchased two Cairn Terriers from a pet store called PJ's Pet Center in Saugus, MA where Dr. Jawitz was then the veterinarian caring for the dogs and cats in that store. I had never owned a dog before and had no idea what to do. I chose Dr. Jawitz as my veterinarian because he had known my puppies before I did and had already been caring for them. I bought them when they were about six months old. It is now thirteen years later. We have received excellent care all these years at Stoneham Animal Hospital. We have had routine care and emergencies pop up as well. In addition, I have had to board my dogs about 11-13 times over the years and needed a place I could trust to care for them for as long as three weeks at a time. I had a male dog who passed away on 11/27/15 and I still have the female dog who will be fourteen in July 2016. Both dogs loved Dr. Jawitz and the staff at Stoneham Animal Hospital and were happy to be cared for there and to be boarded there. They always received special care and were fed food and lots of snacks that I provided for them. During one stay, I did not have time to cut up roast chicken for them to mix with their Freshpet dog food. Dr. Jawitz noticed that my female dog would not eat without the chicken mixed in. He promptly went out and purchased deli turkey for her so she would eat her food! When he told me this story, I was recovering from a knee replacement surgery and was so pleased that he had cared for my dogs with such loving and special care. It took a load off of my mind and enabled me to recover without worry. Our time as a client of Stoneham Animal Hospital has been a wonderful adventure for us. The staff has loved my dogs, cared for them as I would and they have had long, happy lives without too many problems. My male dog received care when he was hit by a car and both dogs have had growths removed with laser surgery by Dr. Jawitz. Dr. Jawitz has a marvelous sense of humor and his staff really loves my dogs. As my male dog aged, I had to seek specialty eye care for him as well as specialty care when he recovered from the car accident. Otherwise, Dr. Jawitz and his staff have been in charge of them, cared for them, healed them and me all these years. I have been grateful to have such a loving, professional staff to rely on all this time. I highly recommend Stoneham Animal Hospital and would not hesitate to share the care of your pet family with them. In my opinion, it is a top notch place. Dated March 24, 2016.

If I had the option of no stars I would. It started off with Dr. J yanking my poor cat out of his carrier, terrifying my poor cat. He then held my cat down, and it looked like my poor cat’s face was going to rip off. What happens when you’re a scared cat and someone just yanks you out of your safe haven? You hiss and swipe. They couldn’t get his bloodwork for his neutering done because he was “too feisty.” What “professional” vet can’t hold a cat to get bloodwork done? He was rude answering my questions, said he could nueter him, but there was a high chance of him dying. No. Abort. Not only that, we sent them a fecal sample to test for worms...everything came back negative....or not. They test for everything except tapeworm, which I found on him MYSELF. And they tell me this AFTER I discovered the tapeworms. They tried charging me for their error, and the medication that didn’t even work on him. I had to go elsewhere for a medication that actually worked on him. Please, for the love of God, go elsewhere and save yourself the headache here!!!!

So happy with the team at Stoneham Animal Hospital! I brought my cat in for her yearly vaccines and grooming with anesthesia (she is NOT cooperative otherwise) and I couldn’t believe how quick and efficient everything was done. The doctor took her right out of her carrier and gave her vaccines like it was nothing! They did a beautiful grooming job and the cost of everything was beyond reasonable compared to other vets. I highly recommend them and I am looking forward to bringing my other, more cooperative cat in the next month.

Dr Jawitz is very rude to owners and mean to their pets. If you have a pug has perfect. Misdiagnosis on our Killian. Upcharged my family dog. Cheap. Watch out.

Had to put my cat down, she was docile and scared and the team treated her like she was rabid. It was awful, no compassion whatsoever. The one thing I was looking forward to was the paw print they offer, and it looked like they just smooshed her paw down hard into the plaster, it was a mess.

Dr Jawitz and staff at Stoneham Vet Hospital has always cared for my dogs, past and present. I have been trusting him for over 15 years with my babies and am very pleased with the quality of care he has given. I feel my questions and concerns are always addressed and the staff there truly cares about the animals they see. Dr Jawitz has even called himself personally to follow up on his "friends" to be sure they are doing better...my own doc doesnt do that! I highly recommend him for your 4 legged family members :)

Took my German shorthaired pointer/hunting dog in to see Dr. J for a couple of up to date shots just before we opened up for the woods!!! and as usual greeted warmly as we walked in, sat down and before you I could look at my watch it was our turn and right on schedule!!! Bandit gets very excited when he hears Dr J's voice and greeted him with 2 paws,lol!! I have been using Stoneham Animal Hospital since 1985 when I first moved to Stoneham. I love Dr. Jawitz, who has been there most of that time. He has always been able to help me with any issues my 5 cats have had. I have been able to call him for information and talk to him when I have been in. His staff has always been friendly and helpful. Over the years there have been one or two people at the front desk I have not been crazy about, but over all they have been great. He knows my cats and I wouldn't think of going any place else.
