Love Littleton Animal Hospital. Have been taking our pets there nearly 15 years, and have always received excellent care for them, no matter the issue. LAH is considerate of issues that often impact care, such as a large, uncooperative and skittish dog, an owner's financial situation, work schedule, or your ability to handle lifting & carrying a large dog for a week or two after an injury or surgery, and they'll work with you to figure out solutions that will work for you and help your pet. They truly care about your pet's quality of life & health, and readily share information and ideas to help you keep them happy & healthy, and to give them comfort when they are ill or elderly. Last year, we lost 3 dogs, two elderly, and one young but very ill. The entire team showed us nothing but care and compassion, helping us keep them as comfortable as possible after diagnosis, and supported us during and after the difficult times. Each doctor has special interests and expertise that complements others on the team, and if they feel a situation could be better handled elsewhere, they don't hesitate to consult a specialist or give you a referral. Everyone on staff seems to attend continuing education in the latest tools, techniques and other areas, so they can offer the best possible care and treatment options. They also care enough to call and check up on their patients after an injury, illness or outside consultation, just to see how things are going and to address any concerns or questions that may have arisen after you returned home. Our current dog loves LAH so much she literally drags us in the door! As long as we have pets, we'll be using LAH.
I take my ducks here! Quack!
This review is for their bird care. I have four parrots, and nearly all of them have been to see Drs. Kilgore and Papscoe at one time for another. I really trust them with my birds, and they have done so much for us over the years. They even performed a oviduct removal surgery (very risky) and my bird pulled through. They will do the best they can to fit you in on an emergency visit. And, when my old bird passed away in the night (I called a couple days later to let them know), they sent me a note with their condolences. Great people, and I have recommended them to my fellow bird owners.
Dr Rod is the best! Other vets I've seen over the years have been quick to throw expensive testing and procedures that most people can't afford. He's very thorough and takes amazing care of my fur babies. The staff is amazing as well. Even in a tough situation (I had to euthanize one of my kitties) he and his technicians are genuinely sympathetic. Even sent a hand written condolence card. I can't even think of going elsewhere.
Great care and amazing people. Thank you so much Littleton Animal Hospital :)
Excellent
Very caring staff and great medical care!
I'm a pre-vet major and have a ton of animal experience and this was the worst animal hospital I have been to. Had two of our rabbits neutered by them. It cost an arm and a leg but I assumed they knew what they were doing. Nope. They got one of our rabbits incisions infected, which is rare and difficult to do if they performed the surgery properly. They put him on antibiotics and pain meds for two weeks and the infection went away. However the other male rabbit was most likely improperly neutered as well. He still smells like a male rabbit, gets overly excited when female rabbits come near him, and urinates to mark territory more than he should be. We are still looking for a diagnosis for him... Worst of all though, the vet told us both males were perfectly healthy before and after their surgeries. We were assured they had excellent teeth. However the rabbit who had infected incisions also has had decreased appetite and has been shedding his coat like crazy. Turns out his teeth were NOT healthy and his top teeth are curling under and growing into his mouth while his bottom teeth have grown over his top teeth (their teeth should in fact meet at their tips). This has clearly been a problem since before his surgery, as they are starting to rot. He has had chew toys in his cage his whole life and he must have had misaligned teeth from the beginning and the vet didn't care to look carefully or perhaps he was dropped in surgery and his jaw was broken. No matter, I will never go back to this animal hospital and I strongly recommend against using this vet.
Wonderful people to the pets and owners!
They take excellent care of my parrots
I have been bringing my African Greys Coco and Bubba there for years. Coco has been seen there for about 24 years and we have ever only had wonderful service from the Vets to the Vet techs. Prices are affordable. But the care they have received is fabulous. Highly recommended and will continue to bring them there as long as they are around(god willing). Again thank you and look forward to seeing you this year
I have been lucky enough to have been taking our pets here since day one. It has been 3 years now, and I can not rate this practice enough! If it had a 10 start option I would pick that! The staff, the Vets, everyone is amazing! They are friendly, very compassionate, very affordable, the practice is clean and they now have a cattery and food dispensary. I could not imagine taking our extended family anywhere else. They have been there for us with the good times, and the heartbreak with our pets, and we would be lost without this Practice. Thanks guys xxxxxx
Said to make this post as my family has used this hospital for years and many dogs. However since going corporate we had a terrible experience with both our new golden retriever and our 3 1/2 year old golden. 1 year ago would have been 4-5 stars. We have since changed Vets
Awesome Staff. Bailey loves her doctor.
Wonderful veterinarians! They care so much and know what they're doing, and are one of the few places I've been able to find that also takes care of chickens! I gladly drive an hour and a half to get here every time one of my pets gets sick or hurt.
Great hospital and Dr Rod is the best. He was Very caring and compassionate, when it was time for my baby to cross the rainbow bridge.
Treated my bird wonderfully. Super friendly
I've brought my rabbits to Littleton Animal Hospital since moving to the area in 2014. The staff is always nice and professional and the vets are very knowledgeable. Definitely a good place for small pets/exotics.
My last vet was very rude and I felt did not understand the bond that one has with their animal. I interviewed Littleton Animal Hospital and I knew immediately that they would treat with dog with respect. Even the fact that they were willing to talk to me before I became a customer shows how nice they are. They dealt with my emotions well even then. I have been with them approx 4 years and they have never let me down. All of the staff are wonderful and are so kind to me and my dog. I recommend them to everyone. I feel very comfortable with them and I am so incredibly happy with the way they treat my dog.
First of all, I want to be clear that I think Dr. Arad (one of 3 vets at this practice) is an excellent vet and I have been very happy with the care he has provided to my senior lab over the last 2.5 years. I am leaving a 2-star review because of a variety of other issues (some of which I was able to overlook before a final incident today). I was recommended expensive and unnecessary tests (confirmed by Dr. Arad) by one of the other vets during a sick visit. I have also had some less than pleasant interactions with some of the vet techs over the years, culminating in a very poorly handled situation today. I arrived 6 minutes late for an appointment (with 2 young children in tow) and was told I would need to wait for the person who had arrived just before me (a half hour early) to have their appointment before me (to be clear, this person arrived moments before me and sat down to wait; they were not in an appointment already). Despite polite protest, they would not change their position. They said they tried to call to verify I was coming (true-they literally called as I was walking in from the parking lot 5 minutes after my scheduled appointment), so there was nothing they could do. Their appointment policy states that they may have to reschedule or have you wait if you arrive FIFTEEN minutes late. Because of this and other negative interactions with the techs, I will not be returning.
Dr. Rod gets 5 stars. Best vet I've met. Barb is also very intelligent and helpful. The 45 people that stand around at the desk to gossip, pet dogs, and make me wait a minimum of 10 minutes after my appointment is supposed to be taking place (even if I'm 20 minutes early) get one star. If you have a busy life and a hectic schedule, I highly suggest only coming here when you can plan for approximately an hour of your life spent on a ~10 minute appointment for your fur baby
Was very good and thoughtful
After having a terrible experience of another vet hospital breaking my bird's leg, I had a very wonderful experience with the Vet's at Littleton. While my bird's leg was not able to be fixed, the hospital tried many many different options while giving me phone calls with their new ideas. I know that they tried everything they were able to to help me.
From the moment I walked into Littleton Animal Hospital, I was greeted with a warm friendly staff. Everyone was very kind a caring with my bird. The doctor really knew exactly how to treat him and offered some great advise from food to keeping my bird stimulated. I would highly recommend LAH for your furry, feathered or scaled friends =)
They are all so sweet and sincere.
Wonderful caring staff!
Staff was so kind and asked permission before doing anything to my little hedgehog and helped keep her (and me) calm the whole time. They even called me the next day just to check in on her! So glad I chose them.
All the good vets have left this place. My experiences have been terrible with the new staff. They don't have a clue about avian medicine, and don't listen to experienced owners. They ignored what I suspected the diagnosis was, and only gave the medicine I asked for after 5 weeks and 3 visits of them guessing wrong and the bird suffering. It was only when I asked to have her put down that they gave the proper medicine. She was cured in a day! They are also unethical in that they won't do a necropsy if the animal hasn't been seen by them before. Everyone knows cause of death needs to be known to protect any other animals in the house. They are all about $$, and have very little avian experience even though they claim to be "certified". They are 3 minutes from my home and I happily go to Sager Animal Hospital a half hour away for the expert. I recommend you do too.
Awesome staff! Great doctors! I bring all my animals here!
Good people
Great doctors and staff. Incredibly caring people passionate about what they do.
We were on vacation and discovered a deep scratch on our dog. We went to LAH and they were great. They took us in and the vet was able to see us quickly. He showed great care and concern for the dog and explained everything clearly. They were wonderful!!!! Thanks LAH!!
Traveling through area on way to Maine, our diabetic dog fell ill. Luckily this place was close by, we stopped in. We were taken in right away and our dog was thoroughly examined. Everyone was extremely nice, and we all had good care.
They provide great care to our cats, dog and snake.
Best bird vets in New England.
great first visit. I have a good feeling about the vet. rocky my dog seemed comfortable with her exam.
If you own exotics, this is the place to go. They helped my ball python with top notch quality of care and expert knowledge.
Great to have competent avian vets nearby. Been going there for many years with my parrot. Of course we take our dog there too.
Dr. Arad was amazing! He took such great care of my lab...highly recommend.
These people are amazing. They were kind to me and to my dog. Even more amazing is their sense of community. At the annual checkup I confided that I've been out if work and that cost was a concern. They worked with me to prioritize the tests and inoculations for our lifestyle. Last Saturday my dog got a bee sting right on her nose. I rushed her over there, they got her right in (met me in the lobby, grabbed her and immediately took her out back to evaluate her) and overwhelmed me when they told me she was fine and that they weren't going to charge me for the exam. I simply can't thank them enough.
Our experience was wonderful at the Littleton Animal Hospital and there are wonderful veterinarians and staff there too. All the people are so caring and are amazing people there. They were all so sweet and sincere and very helpful when had to put our previous cat Jasmine to sleep due to her kidney failure and Dr. Rod was so sweet with us and explained everything. When we got our new kitten Felix my husband Scott and I were like this is the only place we are bringing him to be checked on and nuetered because we liked it there so much.
My experience at the animal hospital was wonderful... I needed to care for my daughter's hedgehog and the staff was great... Thanks to everyone there...
I just brought in my gerbils, one had passed away and the staff were so good to me as I was falling apart. They are keeping an eye on her sister for me. It wasn't expensive and I felt taken care of and I feel like my gerbil is in good care.
I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Brooks! She thoroughly explained my pet's problem didn't rush me in anyway. I will definitely go back to this vet and see Dr. Brooks!
Very caring people
Good practice that seems to be the place to go if you have an exotic pet or bird. I brought my guinea pig and the team there had plenty of experience with guinea pigs so we got great care.
Very busy
Long story short, all the doctors, techs, and overall staff are remarkable people with extensive knowledge. They always put my animals needs first when I present them with questions and concerns. Dr. Rod, Dr. Kilgore, Amy, Chelsea, and all those who I cannot remember the names of right now, you are and always will be the people I trust with my furry, scaley, and feathered children.
Friday afternoon I brought my 4 yr old Budgie to have a wellness exam and have his nails clipped. He was given a very good bill of health, was very active and happy until this exam. When I got him home I noticed he was off kilter. I was hoping it was just him adjusting to the nail clip. I let him rest for the night and in the morning he was worse. He couldn’t put pressure on his right Leg and dragged himself across the floor. Couldn’t balance on his perch. Fell to the bottom of the cage a few times. I called the vet immediately and told her what happened . She was a tech and told me that’s normal and he’ll be fine in the morning. I ask her to tell the Dr. and asked to speak with him. She told me she would. I never heard of such a thing. He’s had his nails clipped before with no problems. I did not hear from anyone so I called back and got the answering service. I left a frantic message because he’s getting progressively worse. Still nothing. My poor little guy has been lame and distressed going on 3 days . It’s heartbreaking to watch. I don’t know how to make him comfortable and can see the pain in his eyes. I don’t know if his leg is broken or what. It is 3PM Sunday and still no word from the Vet. A real bad experience. They got their money and called it a day. By the way, $110.00 for this nightmare. I’m devastated and heartbroken.
Everyone is professional, friendly, compassionate, and gentle when examining my fur-babies. Would highly recommend coming here. Dr Rod and staff are great!
I have two dogs and they have received care from Littleton Animal Hospital for years. Their wonderful team is always flexible when my pets have an emergency.
Very pleased with the doctor, he did everything right ans was a pleasure to talk to but also very disappointed because they failed to give a proper dosing sheet to my friend and his pet was accidentally overdosed. Please be sure to check for proper dosing and I hope that in the future they will improve their protocol and mark the syringe instead on relying on paper, which is a lot more work for them anyway and more easily forgotten.
Great place ;always reliable.Friendly staff
