Finally found a vet that truly cares and goes the extra mile. Dr. Friend was able to exam my cat thoroughly without much fuss. At our previous vet, my cat always had to be wrapped in a towel because he gets nervous and he was never given a total, hassle free exam. Glad we found this place...just sad it took us so long!

Very very expensive. They were running behind each time we went in. They would recommended additional vaccines as if they are standard beyond the usual set without mentioning the side effects or efficacy. It was over three times as much as our last vet for a yearly checkup on two healthy dogs. They also push pet insurance but if you intend to keep going here it probably makes sense given the amount they charge.

The staff at this clinic are friendly and genuinely care for their patients and their families. Whenever my dog has an issue they try to get us in right away and after treatment we get follow-up calls almost daily until he is recovered. We haven't have to visit them very often because during his yearly physicals we discuss proper care and vaccinations that will keep him healthy all year long. We truly appreciate the dedication this staff has for animal care. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!

We love the staff at Holden Veterinary Clinic. The office and exam rooms are clean, there is never a long wait, and they clearly have a passion for what they do. They engage our kids in the exam and take their time with our kitty's check up. They gave my son's Cub Scout pack a tour a while ago and my son still talks about all he learned!

I only had one experience with my friends new puppy. She was extremely pleased with her visit. The dog was pre examined, for his surgery, to be nuetered. Every thing went well. I will continue to suggest,refer to the holden vet. It's convenient to have all levels of care with the same vet.

I brought my elderly dog to the clinic as he was having some new issues. Dr Downes saw him.While his issues were unknown he was not in immediate medical urgency. We scheduled a time for x-rays the following week and , because of dental issues, he was given a shot of Convenia, a 2 week antibiotic despite not having actually confirmed an active infection. My dog is easy to pill and this shot turned out to be extremely poor judgement given his age and known health issues. He was still quite lively, engaged, eating , drinking when he went in, and within 4 days he was physically destroyed by this drug, as MANY animals have experienced. I don't know why he was given a shot that ,given he was having very sporadic, short seizures, a drug that is acknowledged to cause them. Here is known, reported adverse reactions to this drug in foreign markets, from the drug label itself: FOREIGN MARKET EXPERIENCE: The following adverse events were reported voluntarily during post-approval use of the product in dogs and cats in foreign markets:DEATH,TREMORS/ATAXIA, SEIZURES, anaphylaxis, acute pulmonary edema, facial edema, injection site reactions (alopecia, scabs, necrosis, and erythema), hemolytic anemia, salivation, pruritus, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, and inappetance. Research the drug and you will discover many pets of all ages have died from this drug, as mine did. Despite claiming that they haven't seen a reaction to it in their practice, I was told he died of something he hadn't even been diagnosed with, by this or any other vet. Please do yourself a favor; make sure your pet never receives this drug- even if some animals get it without complication, they haven't determined why some animals both young and old and otherwise healthy have this reaction. While any reaction to a drug can occur, very few that list DEATH as a first reaction should be used lightly. Barring that, check on every drug your vet wishes to administer and demand informed consent. After speaking with my former long term vet out of state and the emergency vet who euthanized my darling dog, I've since learned that many vets do not use this drug because it is deeply toxic to a lot of animals and they don't know why. One Dr claiming they never saw a reaction to it has no bearing in medicine, and with animals it's very easy to declare a pet died because of something else because very few go forward with an expensive necropsy. I had no choice but to euthanize him as he was so quickly destroyed by a drug that has done the exact same thing to hundreds of animals. It was not a RARE reaction. My dog suffered horribly before his passing, and while I know he wouldn't have lived forever, he would not have died in the manner he did and would still be here today, sleeping at my feet and being deeply loved. ETA: I have received a copy of his records from Dr Downes, and it only gets worse. There are glaring factual inaccuracies contained within the entire report. Despite having prior vet records in hand, she didn't have the facts right and was as careless with her notes and listening to the history as she was with administering a drug that causes seizures to a dog with a history of seizures. Almost none of it is correct, from her clain to have spent 90 mins with us, ( it was 45 mins) to past medications , duration, etc, none of it is correct; it is careless. I cannot recommend Dr Downes or this vet clinic.

I can't say enough about the total package you receive by bringing your pet to Holden Vets! I live in Worcester and drive to Holden for my cat because they are full of love, very caring, easy easy easy to get an appt. if suddenly needed. They have a Dr. On call on wknds and after hours that will pick up any time. Very clean waiting room and treatment rooms! It's so compforting when you have a sick animal! Highly recommend it! Very few people are knowledgeable to handle exotics like chinchillas. Dr Downes has one of her own and is very knowledgeable and was super friendly. I arrived 5 minutes before my appointment and was immediately taken to the exam room. She answered all of my questions and I didn't feel rushed at all. If you have any kind of exotic pet I highly recommend this clinic.

I cannot ask for a better veterinary practice for my pets. I implicitly trust the care of my pets to them. When our first Beagle Minnie was diagnosed with a heart murmur, they took exceptional care of her until it was time to transfer her care to a cardiologist at Tufts. When we adopted our current Beagle Willy, he came to them with a multitude of health problems including a collapsed ear drum. Dr. Friend needed a specific diagnostic camera that was available at another vet's practice out of state and she went out of her way to get the device. When our Guinea Pig passed away, they sent me a sympathy card with everyone's signature from the practice. The receptionists are super friendly and helpful. I've been going to this practice for years and look forward to many more years of their expert care.

They have always provided the best expertise and care to all of our dogs. You will NEVER find another clinic like Holden Vet. I was referred to Holden Vet from a friend a few years ago who I know loves their pets just as much as I do and I'm so so so glad I went. The staff, from the ladies who greet you, to the techs, to the doctors are the most patient, understanding and caring group of individuals I have ever met. Your not just a client! They care for every pet and pet owner individually and treat them all special. Even when my little guy was sick and we were worried he may not make it they called us to assure us it would be a long road but that they'd be with us every step of the way and that he would be okay. My gratitude and appreciation for the doctors and team at Holden Vet makes it hard to imagine Beansy be treated anywhere else.
