The staff is knowledgeable, professional, kind, and unbelievably responsive. I had a few great appointment experiences, but when I got a follow up call to check on my pet the next day, I was very pleasantly surprised! This facility is impressive, certainly, but the people make it remarkable.

I wanted to take the time to thank the doctor and nurses who helped me with my dog Delilah. When I found out I had to put her down it hurt beyond words. I had her since my deployment to Afghanistan in 2010 and she was truly my best friend. The staff was nothing but supportive and kindly helped me see through the grief and make the right decision. If someone could pass this along to them it would mean a lot. Thank you.

I have had nothing but amazing experiences at Bulger (shout out to Dr Renzullo), and today I brought my dog in for a routine appointment. They asked what she was eating and I mentioned it was her recently deceased (canine) brother's diet food. Tech Jessica Elwell not only asked how my dog was dealing with the change, but took time to ask how I was doing after the death. That small moment shows how much the Bulger staff truly cares about their patients and the owners. Dr Fix (who we have also seen previously) is amazing with just sitting on the floor and playing with my pup to make her feel comfortable. Every single time I have gone there, no matter the doctor or reason, they make us feel like we are their most important patient of the day. I cannot recommend Bulger highly enough!!

I would just like to thank the entire staff at Bulger's for their compassion and kindness in a fragile situation. I recently lost my 19 year-old cat who we brought to Bulger's after he had already passed that night at home so that he could be taken for cremation. They were so understanding, professional and patient with us so that we could say goodbye as well as explore our options on how we wanted to proceed. After he was cremated, I picked him up at Bulger's and again the staff was so understanding and kind even through the tears and struggles of dealing with his loss.

I had a very unique situation with my daughter and I tried to work it out with this place. But all they cared about is it is a business. They gave my daughter false hopes and she did what she could to save her animal. And they knew that he was not going to survive. I was not there at the time but they are heartless people and took advantage of a young person charging them almost $1,000 and in the end she did not come home with her pet. They were very unreasonable and all they kept saying to me is we are a business.yes I understand business is business but in this type of business you need to have compassion and understanding for people and sometimes compensate for the mistakes that you make and stop blaming your clients when you took advantage of them. I would not recommend you to anyone. and they obviously knew something was not right when they asked this young girl if they should call her parents and she declined. So obviously they knew something was different about this office visit there...but still did not want to work with me and also I heard time and time again on the phone was we are a business. No compassion very cold hearted people that robbed my little girl. So beware if you have children that a young adults they have an emergency with the animal don't send them here. Personally they are so wrong taking Advantage of a disabled girls emotions and ROBBING her. They only care about Dollars for there new facility !

I have always had pet rabbits and never been to a better place for emergency rabbit care. Staff was both knowledgeable and compassionate. Could not have asked for a better experience and I’m thankful that my lil fluff is still here with me and that we have a comprehensive plan for continued health.

Larry Bourdeau

Good for emergencies!

Jess Blanford

My Yorkie usually is scared to death of the vet, not there . I'm not sure what it is ,but Kira loves going there. And the service is excellent.

We had a difficult decision to make, putting our family pet down, even though he was 17 years old and no longer living a happy carefree life. The staff here listened to me and did all they could and more to assist us during this enormous loss. There were No judgements, no lets try this etc, no waiting, they were very accommodating and empathic! Thank you to all of Bulgers staff, you work as a well oiled machine !

We recently started to come to this veterinary hospital full time (other than emergency visits) and I can not express how wonderful it has been. Dr. Burns is by far the best Veterinarian we have ever had. Our dog has had many medical issues through the years and she seems to really want to get to the bottom of things. She reaches out and calls to check in and just goes out of her way unlike many other places. I cant be more impressed. This is now our place to go to from now on. The new facility is absolutely beautiful. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

Brought my 18 year old dog to Bulger in Lawrence to be laid to rest and cremated. Originally intended to have her remains spread with Forget-Me-Not and the next morning had a change of heart and decided for a private cremation and to keep her ashes. I was told multiple things by multiple people over the phone and arrived at Bulger to pick up Cassie’s ashes and was told that they weren’t even ready and that she was not even on location currently. To have to deal with going back to the hospital for my dogs remains and to be (for lack of a better word) jerked around by this staff was absolutely unacceptable. They had my dogs cremation put on hold without even notifying me, adding stress and agony to an already painful endeavor. I will NEVER go back to this hospital and will steer all friends and relatives away. Absolutely appalled.

I took my small dog last night because she was exhibiting symptoms of a gastrointestinal infection she had just gotten over. I called ahead as I was not sure what I should do; they said it was my decision but it would be best to bring her in. The receptionist was so sweet over the phone and when I walked in we were walked directly into an exam room as they recognized her name. Sue Sullivan was fantastic very sweet to my dog and recommended food to us that her dog eats for a sensitive stomach. Kate Sawyer, DVM came in shorty after. She spent much time with me and my dog discussing why she keeps getting these infections, as well as, what she may need that night while she was there. Even recommending that she take a probiotic to replace the ‘good bacteria’ since she would be on an antibiotic again; as a person would take. She took my dog back to do some tests and cane back about 20 minutes later came back to tell me my options of outpatient versus admitting her, as well as, costs. We agreed on outpatient and she was off to treat my dog. About 10 minutes later I had my dog who seemed to already be feeling better. Sue Sullivan came back multiple times and made sure to give me a card where she wrote the name of the food her dog likes. This was a great facility down to the support staff. I appreciated the time they took with me talking about everything going on and the amount of care they took in treating my dog. If we are ever in an emergency again I would take her here in a heartbeat.

Amazing people. The vetranarians are brilliant and some have specialized their care. Another animal hospital told me my dog's eyes were calcifying and needed surgery of upwards of 10,000. Nope, just a little booboo that eventually cleared up. The vet really took the time to look after my dog's eyes and explained the situation to me perfectly. I left with a sense that they cared more about the animals then the money. I wish I found them sooner!

The staff at this hospital is out of this world. Our beloved cat passed away just shy at the age of two. We brought him to our local vet and they instructed us to go the Butler Veterinary Hospital. We lost our little boy as we were making it through the door and there was nothing anybody could do at this point. The doctor and nurses on-site really helped comfort us through this traumatic experience. It is nice to know that there are such compassionate people out there in the veterinary field to help our little animals in need. Thank you guys for everything!

I was visiting my partner in Newbury, when my beloved lab/hound suddenly took very ill in the middle of the night. I had no idea where to take him. A dire situation, since he was suffering from bloat, I called Bulger Veterinary Hospital.and a sweet woman took my call, waited for many minutes when I examined my dog and tried to make him more comfortable, before rushing him to Andover. My worst fear, given that he was also suffering from cancer, it did not make sense to perform emergency surgery. My decision to put him down was sensitively handled by the staff, and I felt very cared for. Very difficult to absorb so suddenly, since my dog had a several more months to live, but an inevitable choice. I could not have asked for a more compassionate surgeon or assistant. I was in capable hands and it made a heartbreaking night much much better. These folks are pros in every way.

Maria Martinez

If there was a 0 I would have picked that shame on this place, would not recommend this place to anyone

Martin Sickler

Never in my life of owning pets have we received such careless, thoughtless, inefficient, and consistently bad customer care. My husband is constantly questioning why we continue to bring our cats to Bulger. My cats are elderly, and whether or not we bring them to another vet, we will always have to return because of the specialty doctors we need to care for our cats.

Mackenzie Roy

This place is amazing! They took us right in and everyone was so nice. This is the place to go for emergencies!

Danielle Scherri

So I spent 3200 in 2015 for a pu surgery and was told this would fix my cat, that he wouldn't have the same issues. Now its 2018 and I'm running into the same issue...called and was told since it was 3 years ago they can't just send a script to make him feel better. I honestly wouldn't of spent all that money if I knew he could be right back in the sane situation....

The emergency team here at Bulger was incredible. They welcomed us in our time of need and made sure our beloved pet was cared for in the most respectful, professional, knowledgeable, sensitive manner possible. Our experience was more than perfection. Without hesitation, we would highly recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone finding themselves in need of emergency pet care.

great place. takes great care and interest in our two dog's. love bulger as our dogs primary care.

Kristen Brettell

Exceptional staff! I was referred by my boss to go to bulger due to having tried 4 other vet clinics that couldn't give me answers as to why my dog was deathly ill.. I went here and was put in a spacious room that was clean and they had nice fresh bedding layed down to make my dog more comfortable. I opted to sit on the floor with my dog and was very surprised when the staff ( Kristine Demers) came in she also sat on the bedding and made lilly very comfortable as they were doing the exam. They were very thorough with all 3 options and helped me decide what steps to try first and why. Also to try to save me $ by going through each test as it should for her issues. Would highly recommend to anyone and i will definetly be going from now on!!

We were referred here by it regular very when my then 10 month old chocolate lab Brody had elbow dysplasia. Dr Blaeser took such good care of him I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. You can tell how much she cares about each animal in her care. Brody healed from the surgery and lost that limp completely. Unfortunately for him, he has developed other orthopedic issues, but we're lucky to have Dr. Blaeser too guide us through his treatment and recovery. He's doing great now.

Nice place !!

Any time our fur babies have an emergency we go here. The wait can be long but the techs and the vets are great.

We have been coming to Buglers for many years they have taken care of several of our pets but recently something has changed and I cannot get a live person on the phone. Yesterday I tried to call several times and each time it went to an automated prompt and I was on hold for over 25 minutes. I called again and the same thing happened so I requested a call back as that was an option but it was quicker for me to drive 30 minutes there to speak to someone rather then wait for the call back. Today I have tried calling x3 and each time it went to automated and I was told I was 7th in line. I love this place but this practice is not going to work for myself or my animals. I hope this is only happening as a glitch or due to short staffing.

Ray Larose

This face says it all. Dr. Blazer performed several surgeries on Chief Brody including elbow dysplasia (at 10 months old) and a double cranial cruciate ligament (at 18 months old). It's been a year since the last surgery (double CCL) and he continues to be 100% back to a normal (and super energetic) puppy that plays hard. They took such great care of him during these surgeries with several check-in's to monitor progress. We also did laser therapy as well as (offsite) water therapy as Dr Blazer suggested and it made the healing process so fast and smooth. We are very grateful to the attention by everyone on the staff, Dr Blazer, the techs, the front desk folks and so on. They really made us feel a part of the family, and most importantly, all treated Chief Brody like he was their own dog. This place is top notch, and recommend it without reservation, no matter how far you need to travel to get there.

Dr. Ruth Marion and Tracy provided exemplary treatment, attention to detail, time, and understanding of Harley my 8 1/2 year-old Harlequin great Dane. I have raised great Danes for many years and have experienced Angel Memorial Hospital in Boston, Woburn hospitals, , A couple hospitals on the North Shore, however the care and understanding by Dr. Marion and Tracy could not be matched . Notably Dr. Marion did not order unnecessary diagnostics or lab work, which I find to be routine practice at all the other animals facilities.

Slack of employees/ not fast enough er response an 3 doctors on a Sunday is not okay 14 doctors out on a Sunday is a slack of help

Super sweet and welcoming staff! They are pretty swift and so delicate with their furry clients. My first time here and I'm very pleased.

A big thank you to the staff for their many years of taking care of my beagle Max,He had many medical issues as he got older, they always treated him with expert medical care with his many health issues.At15yrs he was full of energy but his body was tired. They treated him with dignity and us with compassion, and made his journey over the rainbow bridge respectful.

Drove from, Newbury 10 at night. We had called ahead so our dog was seen immediately upon our arrival. The concern and caring was first rate. What we believed to be a tick near the eye was a scab. The staff was so kind, removed the scab and we were off driving back home within a few minutes.

Waste of time and money on my poor Neko. $400+ wasted on useless tests. I know the issue is mouth related and yet they convinced my boyfriend to have Neko checked for diabetes and liver failure. (which has nothing to do with Neko's problems) Big waste of our money as we already live in poverty. And what's worse is the release papers say they talked about a sedated dental exam, WHICH THEY NEVER DID. Now our funds are too drained to find/fix the real problem. (his mouth)

1. Bulger’s ultrasound report showed NO tumors, masses, clots or anything of concern. After our kitty failed to improve, she was transferred to Angell Memorial in Boston because of our decision. They repeated the same test and the results were that multiple cancerous tumors were found throughout the kitty, including abdomen, and evidence of advanced lymphoma. In addition, fluid taken from our cat’s abdomen was sent out by Bulger’s and completely inconclusive results were obtained. Angell Memorial repeated the same test and the diagnosis was advanced lymphoma with a prognosis of a terminal illness. Bulgers’s reasoning was that they didn’t have an up-to-date ultrasound machine. They did just relocate with a multi-million dollar facility, and a huge staff, so this reasoning wasn’t logical. Even with a poor ultrasound machine, it was a situation where the cancerous lymphoma tumors were so extensive that they shouldn’t have been missed. There was no reasoning Bulger’s gave for the inaccurate radiology report from the abdominal fluid which determined nothing in regards to a clear diagnosis. 2. There is a concern that Bulgers’s was not truthful with the results, thereby suggesting that the cat’s undiagnosed illness could be potentially determined with additional treatments, testing and days in the facility, which subjected the cat to needless stress when it could have been home for it’s remaining days. 3. Only upon an in-depth meeting/questioning with one of the ER doctors, did Bulger’s finally admit/give information that they had sporadic specialists and insufficient resources to determine serious conditions in our cat, and that transferring to Angell Memorial might give more answers. They should have been forthcoming in this information from the beginning. It could have saved major stress to our beloved kitty, and given it a chance to have more days of palliative care to provide comfort and management of symptoms at home. 4. Whether the misdiagnosis was the result of a poor ultrasound machine (unlikely), incompetence, or withholding the truth to bilk us out of thousands of dollars (more likely/logical), Bulger’s Veterinary Clinic was ethically and morally wrong. They subjected our kitty to needless procedures, wasted her time that could have spent at home with appropriate palliative care, and given the family more time with her. In addition, our family was taken advantage of financially, to the total amount of approximately $4,700.00 (a little over $800 was refunded, but had the diagnosis been accurate, most of the bill would have been significantly less.) 5. Once determined by Angell Memorial that our kitty had multiple tumors and other cancerous evidence as seen on ultrasound and fluid testing, she was discharged with palliative care/medication/instructions and lived 2 days. Her level of comfort and time at home could have been increased if Bulger’s hadn’t misdiagnosed our cherished pet kitty. 6. I would hope that Bulgers’s Veterinary Hospital is examined by state boards, and/or other means to determine whether this is an ongoing practice of deception, withholding critical information about their lack of resources for situations where they cannot determine a diagnosis, and a lack of an appropriate, caring mission of helping animals and the owners, versus making animals suffer needlessly for the explicit reason of padding the bill by thousands of dollars. I believe Bulgers’s Veterinary Hospital, now managed by ETHOS organization, should be shut down, and the owners and staff subjected to possible legal consequences. 7. There was an abusive staff member and was apologized for by a number of Dr.’s and staff, but to my knowledge no consequence for the staff member. 8. There is one doctor, meeting us, told us that we did not have a connection with the cat we just rescued even though she did not know us. We did have a connection. She went on to say that the cat wasn’t worth saving because it was old. Very cold-hearted. Honesty, compassion and ability to be competent is low. All they care about is $. Very sad.

On the few times we've needed it, it's awesome having a 24 hour ER and surgery center so close to home. Dr. Fix has a great practical, no pressure approach to dog healthcare.

amanda drillis

Besides a receptionist that seems to think she is my cats vet and wrongly tried to advise me in possibly the rudest way, I really do love this place. My kitties see dr fix and she is ahhhhmaziiiing!!! And a major plus is she also sees exotics so I can bring my bearded dragons as well! I’ve gotten the best care for my cats but you really leave too much to be desired with your receptionists. My mother called today and was incorrectly advised as well. I’m no betting woman, but I’d put money on it being the moron that tried to TELL ME the last time. I’d still recommend you guys to anyone

Our cat, Smeet was exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and fluid in her lungs after running into the cat door this past weekend. We brought her into Bulger and she was immediately brought back and assessed. Dr Maynard updated us within minutes of our arrival to let us know the plan and what she and her team would do to help stabilize our sweet kitty. Smeet had to stay overnight which was nerve-wracking for us but we knew she was in good hands. Dr Maynard and her teams knowledge of disease process and rapid assessment skills were top-notch and luckily Smeet survived the incident and is recovering well at home. We couldn't be more grateful for the care that was provided for her at Bulger. Thank you to all the staff that were working that weekend- your hard work is appreciated!

Lainey Hambelton

Took my bearded dragon there for an emergency visit. The staff was amazing and could not have been been more comforting and professional. I hope to not need their emergency services again, but it is wonderful to know they are there.

Based on a guess, nothing more, a vet here recommended that my cat be put to sleep. I got a second opinion. They actually cared at the 2nd vet, and performed a thorough evaluation. My cat was supposed to be put to sleep today according to the Bulger vet… But the second vet that I went to see was much better. They gave us painkillers, they gave my cat an anti-nausea shot, and they gave my cat more time to live a happy life… Avoid Bulger at all costs…They will rush your animal out and recommend euthanasia before exploring other options.

Lauren Burt

My cat was not a regular patient at Bulger, but I live close by and have had to bring her to the ER a couple times. Each visit to the ER went so smoothly, and I was so grateful of how kind, attentive and thorough the vets were despite how busy the ER was. Because of that, I just recently switched vets and will now be taking my cat regularly to Bulger!

Ben Ericson

Very friendly and empathetic staff, they have taken care of two of my cats very well.

Kyle Retallack

Great staff and amazing vets! They got us right into a room and took the best care of our dog!! Jess maynard was the best vet I have ever had!!! She was so calming and cared for our old dog sage as if he was her own. Everything was so clean and there was no bad odors!!

Tammy Hamilton

Our Chewbacca needed care and they took us right away and diagnosed and made a treatment plan to get him on the road to recovery. They were kind and gentle to Chewie and us.

So I’ve had several great experiences with Bulger. However my lastest experience was just awful. The vet was fine but the rest of the staff was rude. There was issues right off the bat when I called to schedule an appointment. My wife called to ask a follow up question about my pets medication... they never returned her call. I then called and someone did call me back and was condescending and dismissive. She took no time to understand the issue I’m having with my pet’s medication. There was also more attitude from the reception staff when I drove there to pick up a refill. I’m not sure what has happened with Bulger but I don’t think it’s heading in the right direction. I live 45 minuets away and had no issues making the trip. I definitely won’t bother going back with any of my pets.

Excellent quality health care for animals.

I CANNOT say enough about Bulger's! To the point that this review makes me emotional! I LOVE THEM! I made a common error by thinking my pups were safe with getting care through insurance and a factory like chain. I came to Bulger's in an emergency situation because my beloved pit bull, Niah, was misdiagnosed by another place and it ultimately led to her being put down. Bulger's staff was incredibly comforting and empathetic at one of the hardest times of my life. My Niah was almost 9 and I got her when I returned from overseas- without the official title, she was my "service dog". She was my everything and Bulgers staff 100% made me feel that they understood this. I know I am not the only one that has gone through this, but they made me feel like family. I received hugs from staff and everyone always offers their sympathy when I mention her. Bulger is a haven. Their clients are people that know animals are family too. I wasn't sure how I was going to pay for all that my girl needed and a FurParent anonymously donated to my bill. (If you are reading this- I promise to pay it forward!) This speaks volumes of the principal and pet loving culture Bulger provides! Currently, my other pup is being seen here. After battling some skin issues and hundreds of dollars at my previous vet- ONE visit at Bulgers and he is in stellar shape. Thank you from the deepest part of my soul, Bulgers....

I was terrified after my Maltese had a choking spell that lasted over 5 minutes. He eventually calmed down and apparently a collapsing trachea will resolve itself if the animal can remain calm. Preston was doing well but because I was so scared of it happening again I went in for an emergency visit. Dr Lang was amazing and understanding and gave us some tips if it happens again. I can't tell you how relieved I was. The vet tech Jose and the front desk staff were wonderful and I can tell you for a fact these people are not in it for the money. If they made a quote on a surgery that was high, it may be that the surgery was more complicated than just 'a broken leg'. Personally I would go back in a heartbeat and highly recommend the emergency services.

I had to bring mwh0q. (lionhead) in a few timesnun middle ofnthe night BC she wasn't eating or drinking which is a red flag when it comes to rabbits. They were very attentagive hands on and did great job

Had several Meh expirences over the years 2 dogs had entropion surgeries $2,000 each, one that had to be corrected. 1 Mis diagnosed glaucoma in 1.5 year old dog. Dr. for all was Marion. She was blunt arrogant and un friendly. Visit in August was told they would be doing upper and lower entropion in October , so never checked the forms the day of surgery. I assumed that his eyes hadn't changed in 1.5 months and wasn’t told verbally anything different. Requested no ketamine for brachycephalic breed dog. Brach Bremen’s dont do well with and I’ve had several friends who’s dogs had died from it. FYI (Tufts doesn’t even use it) Was told after surgery my dog woke up Thrashing in the middle of surgery and they blamed me for requesting to not use ketamine! ( apparently Vet and staff weren’t knowledgeable about any other type of sedatives) ? I was so upset! My dog must have been so scared and could have died! She only did upper lids not upper and lower as I had expected, and they were glaringly un even. I pointed out rightafter surgery and was told “not everything has to be perfectly semetrical”. They were still uneven months after healing. I was so distraught with the thought of my dog waking up thrashing I didn’t Pursue it.. I tried to inquire as to what happend with the anesthesia and Was yelled at by Marion that they “bent over backwards for me!” My dog has blood work drawn the week before in the back room at my primary vets and got so scared he threw up, so I asked if he could be one of the first ones they did so he wouldn’t be sitting in a cage getting worked up and throw-up. (I was worried about asphyxiation) So I guess that’s what she meant by bending over backwards. “ She also said “unless you had x amount of years for Vet School and anesthesiology she couldn’t explain it to me” like I was an idiot. “We had to rearrange are whole schedule just for you she boomed” I have no family and a very bad home situation, living with someone who has Aspergers is very difficult I have severe PTSD as a result. My dog is literally ALL I have! I made that very clear before and after surgery and she still treated the whole incident as if it was my fault. I was so unhappy with the uneven eyes for $2,500 but wasn’t willing to risk bringing my dog back and she never offered to fix them. I was told My 1.5 year old dog had glaucoma, this is rare but possible. The tech had my dog in such a choke hold I was sure it raised his pressure. When I asked they got irritated and assured me it didn’t. I felt uneasy & took him to my vet who said no Glaucoma, but to be sure I took him to Tufts more $$ and not only did the Students say no glaucoma the head of opthamology there put in writing no glaucoma! So my dog would have gotten very strong expensive unnecessary drops for the rest of his life that could have damaged his eyes! It would have assured lots of expensive check ups with Bulgar & Marion though... I was even more upset. Marion was unable to take any kind of criticism and she was wrong. Her arrogance is off the charts. Living with someone who has asperbergers for 20 years and knowing it is often hereditary, then hearing she’s had first hand expirence with it from the staff there, explains a lot. The blaming, complete unreasonableness, the quick temper and arrogance & complete lack of compassion. The experience with her was horribly familiar...I still feel sick to my stomach thinking about it and sad that my dogs were put through that.

Zachary Griffin

The doctor I saw was fantastic! She knew that I was a new dog owner and didn't make me feel stupid when I asked her questions. She treated Gibbs (my dog) exceptionally and he seemed to love her. The front desk staff were equally as nice and you could tell they loved animals. I highly recommend this establishment to any pet owner I know and the added 24/7 emergency room for pets could, god forbid, be a life saver! Although a bit pricey, this place is amazing for pet care and I also recommend getting pet insurance because services like these can be hard on the wallet.

Braxton gaming jyjce

Visit was with cardiologist, everything went well.

Dan Ronning

One of the best vets offices I have every visited with my GSD. Staff is very friendly and can tell they really love animals.

The doctors here are very good at what they are doing. They are always able to quickly and accurately figure out what is going on and that is such an important thing when you have a dog/cat because health concerns escalate very quickly. My friend is 13 years old and doing great. Buglers has helped keep her that way since the day that she was adopted.

aqua fox

We brought in our pet guinea pig (Brownie) to this hospital when she was sick. They told us that she either had UTI or a tumor. Without much information, they gave her an antibiotic injection. After that, our guinea pig never acted the same. She had a lack of energy, and was completely different. Later, we brought her to the Angell Animal Hospital. They put her in the ICU and realized she had a specific UTI, and that the antibiotics that the Bulger's Vet Hospital wasn't helping at all, so they gave her a new and more effective one. But still, she didn't survive. If anybody has a sick or injured pet, I would recommend the Angell Animal Hospital because they know much more on how to treat and take care of an animal.

Edward Greeley

Very good. Very comfortable. They did everything step by step. Very much recommended.

tim quinn

I brought my dog in for emergency she needed surgery or she would die in their only concern was $5000 upfront they talked me into leaving them at her there overnight I put $1000 deposit down on it found another place that would do the whole surgery for $1300 went in the morning to pick her up And they proceeded to tell me that I owe another $500 for the 12 hours she was there bottom line they don’t care about the animals they care about the cash I would never go there again

Dee K

Wait time is annoying---even for an appointment made ahead of time. VERY expensive. Positive side--the doctor was very nice, personable and made follow up call to us. Most of the rest of the experience was really negative down to the two (employees I believe) smoking right by the doorway. Unfortunately, they are one of the few emergency/24 hour hospitals in our area.

Ruthe Ribeiro

Quick response, very nice staff, not too expensive

$900 to get a cats stomach pumped because he was plugged up...really??? $450 would be plenty!!! Highway robbery

I've taken 3 pets here for long term care & compared to other vets, they are the best. They care about your pet, they are highly skilled vets & sensitive when your pet is ill.

Gregg Scurka

My dogs as well as me love this place. Vets and techs are knowledgeable friendly and they dont push things on u like alot of vet hospitals do. Reasonable prices and 24hr emergency care as well.

Absolutely love Bulger & the staff. They r so experienced n reassuring. N truly love animals... Dr. Bennett is a def FAV of us n our fur babies... but all the vets n techs overall r wonderful we r so appreciative for each n everyone of them... thank you all for caring so passionately for our pets n the wonderful comforting experience each time we come. N with 4dogs 1cat 1tortise, we have been often. But also wit many others dogs n cats we have had n had to help cross the rainbow bridge. N each time the staff at bulger made that incredibly heart wrenching time just a bit more easy, which my gratitude for those times can’t not even b put in words. But thank you again!!! Galante/Zitzow Family ❤️

When a house fire destroyed my mother's house, I was shocked to find that her two cats, Marley & Ollie, had survived. I immediately rushed them to the Emergency Hospital at Bulger, on a Sunday at 2 pm. The staff there was incredibly warm, friendly, caring, nurturing, empathetic, I cannot say enough about them. In a time of vulnerability and need, the Bulger family welcomed me with open arms, greatly surpassing any veterinary staff I had encountered in the past. Adhering to their policy regarding pets and house fires, they did not charge me for the treatment my mother's cats received. They even neutered Ollie, free of charge. If I lived in the area, I would bring my pets here in a heartbeat. It is a rarity to encounter people who care as much as the Bulger staff does, and I encourage anyone in the area to treat themselves to the same level of care as I received.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff! Everyone has a good rapport not only with the animals, but children and clients too.

Entire staff from the front desk, to the techs and doctors were SO sweet and caring. I brought my dog in as an emergent situation and was immediately brought back and taken care of. Everyone was sure to ensure me to call st any time for any reason and they were there to put me at ease. Such a great experience during an awful time.

I love you guys when it comes to animal's. Thank you so much.

Awful place. Awful staff. Get charged for services you don't ask for. They perform stuff and then give you the bill. I was charged for a distemper vaccine that my cat didn't need and I didnt ask for. Bill was over $200 upon checkout. Handed the lady back the Advantage and told her I would just purchase it on amazon for cheaper, same product. She didn't like that. I waited for them to adjust the bill, lady was supposed to get someone to talk to me and instead of doing that she continued to argue with me. She didn't want to get anyone so i left without paying. Called after i left to try and resolve it and the office manager hung up on me, but not before she told me that she is putting me and my cat on a list that now she can't get seen at any IVG pet hospital because of this. Back in February I called to get her teeth cleaned and they had no appts for a teeth cleaning and i'd have to bring her in during March and they wouldn't honor the February rate. They were booked during february, not my problem, and it was going to be almost $500 to get her teeth cleaned. These people are scam artists. They will insist your pet needs it and you have no choice but to pay or be put on a list. I will be taking my concerns about the way my pet was treated to a higher authority (the courts). They want to put me on a list after they treated me un fairly, I will tell everyone about my less than stellar time there. Awful place. avoid it.

I had to put my cat of 14 years down yesterday and Jessica Maynard and her caring team of techs, front desk support were all amazing. It was a super busy day for them and they could not have been more wonderful. For a situation as traumatic I was in awe of how caring and graceful they all were! They are amazing people and a wonderful team.

Dr. Holman and her staff have always taken great care of our kitty Morris. He has dental issues and no matter how many times he has to have procedures he loves seeing Dr. Holman! We adopted a sister for him last year and Hannah also loves visiting the staff at Bulger. I recommend this hospital to everyone.

Roberta Davis

The reason for my visit was less than 1 star, but the care and attention the staff gave me and my little rainbow bridge kiddo are above and beyond 5 star. Dr .Sawyer is such a warm and kind person that caters to all aspects of your loved ones condition and also empathizes with you. The facility is absolutely wonderful and I would highly recommend this location to anyone needing emergency care or acute care. Having to have my little guy leave too soon, the staff let me take my time to say goodbye. Dr. Sawyer was so kind to me and my own. She let's you take all the time you need. The cards with his paw prints on them were so lovely.

I am sorry but when a surgeon says 'I guess I could do the surgery" how would you feel leaving your beloved pet in their hands. The staff was great and the heart specialist was knowledgeable, but I needed reassurance not an I Guess, to feel confident.

This week my 8 month old puppy had to be taken to the hospital due to crazy diarrhea that also caused an infection in her skin. Without testing her stool or running ANY tests, they prescribed her two different antibiotics, a broad spectrum de-wormer, and a spray for her skin infection. I made sure to follow any and all instructions and here we are just about 4.5 days later and my puppy has to be rushed to the vet due to serious lethargy and dehydration and still, bad diahrea.. My normal veterinarian told me to stop the medications immediately as what they prescribed was causing her to become worse instead of better. My vet immediately sent a stool sample as the MAIN concern IS what is causing the diarrhea. I'm still waiting one week in to find out what my poor baby is sick from. If it comes back as something severely dangerous this hospital will have a lawsuit on their hands!! DO NOT GO HERE!

Large group of professionals with several specialties. Open 24 hours a day. An amazing ER and surgical suite. Every member of the staff shows an impressive level of care .

I've taken my guinea pigs here twice and am beyond impressed with how friendly and knowledgeable the staff here are. It's a little expensive, but they're accommodating and I understand that, as a hospital that offers emergency services, they need the extra money. Additionally, every one of the doctors is well versed in small animal care, with the exception of one doctor who is allergic. My pigs are happy and healthy thanks to you!

John Beebe

Took great care of our greyhounds.

I brought my 3 year old dog in for an emergency. It appeared she ingested something foreign and had a terrible reaction. I was frightened I was going to lose my little girl. The staff was quick to examine my girl. They could see I was upset and they were compassionate towards me. They never once made me feel like I did something wrong or that I could have prevented it. They told me that they’ve seen other dogs with similar symptoms and unusual behavior. They reassured me she’d be ok, in 24 hours. I was given a paper with details of what she presented with, how they treated her, and how I should care for her over the next few days. I’m considering asking Dr. Sawyer if she can become our new veterinarian. I was extremely impressed with every aspect of our urgent visit to Bulger Vet. Hospital, in North Andover. Dr Sawyer saved my dog’s life. I’m so grateful, I can’t find the right words to express my joy. Thank You.

Last night was one of the most difficult experiences I've ever had. My lifelong best friend of 20 years suddenly couldn't walk straight, lay down normally and we knew something had happened. The care my family and I received from the moment we walked in the door was nothing shy of perfect. Within seconds we were taken out back and given a private room to wait. Every single person we came into contact with was beyond caring and understandable of our fragile state. They explained to us what might have happened and gave us our options with sincere honesty. We got as much time as we needed with our baby and both the vet and care specialist stayed in the room as I held him through his final moments. I couldn't say enough about how amazing these people are. Thank you for everything.

LET ME START BY SAYING BEST MOVE FOR MY DOG AND FAMILY WAS DROPPING BULGER AS OUR CAREGIVER WE ARE NOE NOT ONLY SAVING MONEY, BIT ARE ALSO RESPECT AS CLIENTS This place has the highest prices and the worst scheduling. You are not a value client, but rather a number to them and dollar signs. If you love you animals and are looking for a Veterinary hospital that does too....THEN STAY FAR AWAY FROM HERE. Unless of course you want to pay top dollar for sub par service and attention from an incompetent front office and administration. They never ever took us on time for appointments, even after we made it very clear that was crucial to us. We understand a 10/15 minute wait for the doctor to see us , and we also understand things don't always go according to schedule. But I once Waited an hour and fifteen minutes to be seen, and 45 minutes before the reception desk even acknowledged us. (yes that is correct 1.5 hours from my scheduled appointment to finally be seen). After this incident I provided them with my cell # (which they already had) and requested a call if they would not be able to see me at my scheduled time due to unforeseen circumstances. Still I came in again and had to wait extended periods of time. Rest assured though they acknowledge you immediately for payment All in all doctors and Tech's are mostly nice caring people, however the administration is severely disorganized, out of touch, and money hungry. SAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, PLENTY OF OTHER OPTIONS THAT ACTUALLY CARE AND RESPECT THEIR CLINTS, AND THEIR CLIENTS TIME.

Anthony Richard Gravallese

They saved my cats life 2am on Memorial Day weekend from a reaction to flea and tick medicine.

Ashley Saffer

After recently moving to the North Andover area, I had a pet emergency and wasn't sure which vet to choose. Bulger has amazing hours and the receptionists are so accommodating to your needs. A vet was able to see me same day at 7pm! Since then, I have ben seeing Dr. Libby Holman regularly to treat the minor medical issues I have with my 17 year old cats. She is AMAZING! She listens to my concerns and always provides me with multiple options to treat, including costs associated with each. In 17 years with these animals, I have seen numerous veterinarians. I can say confidently that Dr. Holman has provided me with the best service and treatment for my animals and I am so lucky to have found this center. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! - Ashley, Pansy & Petunia

We have used the ER with our pets multiple times. They are excellent for emergencies. The care has been top notch and I've never regretted taking our pets there. The health of the pet always comes first. To date we've used them for a porcupine encounter, a severed paw from a plate glass window, a dog with uncontrolled epilepsy, a dog bite, and a splenectomy and biopsy. Each time it has been 100% about the pet and the pets prognosis. Very thankful they are nearby. If I was to give a con... I REALLY wish they were cheaper...that is probably partly because tweedledee and tweedledum here can't seem to stay out of trouble :-)

Carol Love

Brought 15 yr old dog to the ER today. BEFORE the vet even examined him, first words out of his mouth were "at this age you may need to consider euthanasia". Are you kidding!!! Mind you this was for a lame leg. Not a very compassionate doctor at all. 2 stars because front staff were very nice and helpful. Also beware..the fake grass in the dog walking area was as hot as the asphalt that wasn't safe to walk dogs on. Apparently they were aware of that but my poor pup with the lame leg was not- started dancing around like crazy.

Scott Pariseau

Receive appointment right away. Very friendly and caring staff.

Paul Moulaison

The Staff is always outstanding !! From the Receptionist to the Doctor and every Tech. in between. My only issue is the $$$$$ Bills, just spent over $500 between the visit charge of $85 to walk in, a vitals examination by a Tech., blood work, $220 to shoot a kitten with an overdose of anesthesia to euthanize ?! Nevins Animal Farm charges $0, they just ask for a donation of $50 for their Doctor to perform the SAME procedure !?! Why so exorbitant ?!

Ashlee Goulette

Every experience we have had at Bulger Animal Hospital has been amazing- everyone is so incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. The vets and vet techs are knowledgeable and nice, we can't say enough good things!

I came into Bulger today with my shitzu Bella and she was very sick, the team started working on her immediately and stabilized her. Even though they recommended I keep her for 12 to 24 hours to get fluids Intravenously I thought I could handle it on my own from there. I left the parking lot and drove for about five minutes before noticing something not right so I brought her back for further treatment and they didn't ask any questions just took her right in and started working on her,if I didnt bring her back she wouldn't be with me now. THANK YOU DR. DEMERS AND TEAM AT BULGER.

Jack Anderson

I recently had to put a pet down, and this is never easy in any way. The level of compassion I was shown made this task much healthier to deal with. I appreciate all that was given to me, and by complete strangers no less. The people here truly love the creatures that they care for, and this is clear through their actions.

Joe Piwowarski

VERY expensive and want to do a "consult" which is even more $$...thanks anyway
