I have never had a negative experience from here. Dr. Heidi and staff are always warm, welcoming and caring. My dog, Missy had what I thought was a blocked anal gland (PetMD--LOL) called had me come in with in the hour. Turned out to be a wooden skewer that she swallowed. Dr. Heidi operated on her during her lunch hour! I did not have to bring Missy to an animal hospital, Best Pets has everything right there--piece of mind knowing Missy's actual Dr. was the one doing the surgery. Fair prices, great services, friendly staff, Wonder Woman for a Dr. :)

I was stuck on July 2nd with my cat who had a kitten stuck in utero that had died. After being quoted a scandalous amount for an emergency c-section I could never afford here locally, I took to my computer to find help. I must have sent 20 plus emails. Dr. Tapscott not only took time to message me on a holiday weekend but while also on her vacation. She was the only response I had received. She listened and did everything she could to help me to save my cat. I have never had a vet who was personally into a practice like this. She has a heart and genuinely cares, it is hard to find good, honest people who still exist in the world. From walking in to her kind front desk associate, to her husband who was helpful as well. Coming from Derry, NH - I will continue the drive and bring my other animals here. Thank you Dr. Tapscott and staff, you are all incredible and amazing.

Exceptionally friendly and pleasant staff, even the receptionists. Very clean facility & flexible appointment times as well. My dog had been struggling terribly with paw/skin allergies for years, to the point where I felt like her quality of life was beginning to go. I had tried numerous vets, all of which were highly expensive and were little to no help - always sending me home with the same medication and “suggestions” as the last visit. I tried Best Pets myself after my boyfriend has brought his cat there. My first visit at Best Pets was all I needed to get answers and help for my dog. I also highly appreciate the fact that they offer an invoice of the cost of the visit depending if I need vaccinations or any special work done with my dog BEFORE going ahead and doing so, unlike every single vet I’ve been to prior. Every vet and technician here has shown nothing but the utmost love and compassion towards my dog, and together have brought her back to life! I recommend Best Pets to any client I work with when they ask me about veterinarians, and will bring all of my future pets here. I can’t thank the staff here enough for giving me back my happy and playful pup ❤️

I was able to walk in and be seen and be out in less than a half hour I was frantic and the staff calmed me and assured me Luna would be ok she is doing better And I have peace of mind knowing she is in good hands. Dr. Tapscott at Best Pets was a true help for our 6 year old tabby girl! She has a stress disorder, and after recently moving 240+ miles away, she started showing signs of a uterine infection (vaginal pus discharge). We brought her into Best Pets where a few different issues were ruled out, and she was sent home with an antibiotic. This did not kill whatever infection she had. Stump pyometra (leftover ovarian tissue from a spay that becomes infected) was suspected due to some behavorial symptoms and the fact that she was adopted from an animal shelter where she was spayed very young (<4 mths). So after an inconclusive x-ray (sometimes tissue is too small to see), Dr. Tapscott suggested trying a higher strength antibiotic before putting her under for a very costly exploratory surgery where she would attempt to locate/remove any ovarian tissue that was left. This extra strength antibiotic worked, and it's been 3 months since we have noticed any signs of an infection. We aren't positive if she does indeed have any ovarian tissue left, but we will keep monitoring her for any future potential symptoms of stump pyometra. We are thankful for Best Pets and for Dr. Tapscott's patience, information and compassion for our sweet girl, Winnie. We will definetly be back in with all of our cats veterinary needs!

PLEASE READ THIS IN FULL! My Dog loves this place! I love this place. I was asked to go to the Woburn ma Hospital from my last vet and they did not say why just that her blood was low and when I got to the Hospital bullying me to leave my dog with them for 5 nights and that maybe I would have to put her down like there was no light at the end of the tunnel! So I went to Best Pets for a second opinion through a Friend and I'm Soooo happy I did. My Dog is doing great! They took the time to see what she needed and did not charge me thousands of dollars. They also did not bully me to do anything. They said there should be no reason not to take the dog home the Dog would do better at home around the people who love her. So that's why I love BEST PETS! Part 2. So Mitzi past on October 16th 2015. So I had to take her to the hospital in Woburn one weekend because this vet was close past hours about 3 weeks before we had to out her down I was told her liver was failing because of one of the meds she was on. They asked if she had been tested for that I said only one time out of maybe 4 or more time having blood work done. They thought we should put her down then well she was not in pain and we took her home and gave her everything she loves Pizza, steak and McDonald's! I would have thought I would have gotten a call from the vet the next morning. That was not the case I called about 10 or so and had to leave a message with someone because the doctor was busy. So I did. I also asked if they got paper work from the Hospital for Mitzi and they said yes we got some form of paper work. Not sure what that meant. So I left my message to call me back I did not get a call back until about 2:18 and I know this because I was on the phone with the hospital in Woburn when I was waiting for My daughter to get out of school to take her home. I called them so I could get the copy of the paperwork because my vet was not calling me back. So the Vet doctor left a message. It was yes I read the paper work. Not I'm sorry and anything more that was it! So I did call again and she was busy again and I said oh no put her on the phone please I had waited too long to talk about this and that I feel like you all are very cold right now and I was told that the doctor is going through some stuff as well and I said ok but she needs to leave it at home and not bring it to work and that I'm sorry that she is going through whatever she is going through and that is not why I'm calling! So when it was time to put my baby Mitzi down I sent an email to the vet doctor asking if I could bring her in that day to take care of this it's time. I received an email back that said I'm not in the office today and that the other doctor that is there had a full plate oh and that I hope I was making the right decision! Oh and that she felt bad for us. So I called the vet and they said to bring her in. I did not want to bring her back to the Woburn Hospital they are too cold there. So I had Mitzi cremated because I didn't want to leave her there. So when I went to pick her up at the vet a week later they gave her to me and a rose from the doctor and the staff. Hum nothing from the doctor about it with in that week or even the next day no call nothing other then the rose! If I know the rose was from her I would have left it but I was crying so much when they put the box in front of me and I just left. I'm not saying this is anyone fault at all. I just would have liked a bit more respect and sympathy would have been nice! If anything I should have know then a friend asked me to go there because I did not know she was getting a $25.00 Discount until after the fist full visit! I don't like to refer people just because of a Credit. I told my other friend that I was going to have go there not to go! So I leave this store for you to decide. I will tell you it is very hard to write this. I miss her every day she was my best friend and loved me no matter what! It also took me some time to think about all of it as well I'm not mad or angry just sad. I hope this review will help!

My small maltese had a slipped disk and lime disease. The receptionist was caring and helpful. The doctor was insightful, honest, caring, and not overly inexpensive. Chasie had been literally dragging his rear end around but is now running and hopping up onto the ottoman.

Today I needed to bring my dog in for an ear infection. My dog was a former bait dog with PTSD so I expected a difficult time at the appointment. We saw Dr. Eric Franson and we were blown away. To say he was amazing would be an understatement. By the end of the appointment Arizona was wagging his tail. A miracle worker for sure. We are clients for life. I would also like to say Dr. Heidi Tapscott has also treated my other animals and shown incredible compassion and care. The staff is so kind. Truly this is an amazing veterinary hospital.

Horrendous experience.They have several part time staffers that are apparently misinformed on Dr Tapscott's policies. I was told the first visit was free--Shawsheen Animal Hospital offers the same promotion--and then was charged for the visit. Dr. Tapscott argued I was never told that and still charged me and when I looked at my records folder she provided it was right there in their notes that the visit was promised as free for a 1st time visit. She prescribed drugs at an enormous markup that did not even address the problem that was later fixed by a more competent vet. Warning! Dr. Tapscott will prescribe shampoos and extras for an enormous charge and will make you feel guilty if you refuse them.9 months ago she said my pet had 2 months to live. Thank goodness I changed vets and my pet is still with me.There's a reason she keeps moving around. Run, don't walk in the opposite direction from her and you are sure to find a more competent vet.

After 4 years with Best Pets, I can say my review from 4 years ago remains the same. We now have a new dog and I would not have considered anywhere else to take him. What a great experience I had at this hospital. My dog was sick and I was in search of a new Vet, I contacted Best Pets and right from my initial phone call my experience was excellent. The staff is caring, happy and very professional. Dr. Tapscott is easy to talk to and listens to your concerns. My dog ended up having surgery and is doing great. I have been a pet owner for over 20 years and have used the same vet for most of those years, if they were not in such flux I would have remained there, but I couldn't stay and I am so thrilled to find a Best Pets to treat my pets!

Dr. Tapscott is beyond WONDERFUL! Our rescue cat Buddy was suffering so badly from either allergies or asthma. She made a HOUSE CALL (hello, this is 2013, right? AMAZING) BUT, she insisted on coming to the house to cause less stress on our beloved four legged family member. She came over and spent over an hour at our house and, worked her magic! Seriously...She was compassionate and so kind to Buddy and, explained everything she was doing to my husband & myself. I cannot express how thankful we are to Dr. Tapscott! I was elated when we got the bill, too! Any pet owner would attest that there is no price tag one can put on your furry friend/family member... BUT, the bill was more than reasonable. Thank you Dr. Tapscott & Best Vets Veterinary Hospital. We wish you all the success in the world - you deserve it!

Great place to bring your pets! The staff is extraordinarily friendly and accommodating; from the receptionist up to the doctor herself. They always show sincerity towards the animals and to the humans as well. Sadly, we had to have a pet euthanized recently, which was an extremely sad event, but they were very empathetic and even sent flowers to the house. I would highly recommend this practice.

RUN!!! My first visit I had concerns with my new kitten and there was no advice on what I could do. The second time i went there only a few weeks later to get her second vaccine. A technician came out and said “ the exam rooms where taken and she just needs 1 shot so we will just take her back and give it to her.” I never had a vet take my pet to a room without me there to ask questions and administer shots but ok thought it was weird but that didn’t bother me as much as when I heard my kitten that by the way only weighs 1 1/2 pounds screaming. When the technician came out with her she was rude and said “ she bit one of the technicians and we will be calling in ten days. Oh and we clipped her nails” well I did not give permission to clip her nails and obviously they where so Rough with her when they did it! I can’t believe they would traumatize a kitten at such a young age. My kitten now has almost nonexistent nails and can not climb on her giant cat condo tree or even get on my bed to seep with us! Sorry but kittens need there nails and there was no medical reason for them to cut them! They did apologize after I sent an email and offered to give the next vaccine for free but I will not be returning to this place! In my opinion the people there do not care about your pets or you it is just a job to them. I wouldn’t take my child to the doctors and wait out in the waiting room and not know what’s going on in the room so why would they think it’s okay to take your pet in a room without you there to ask questions and make sure you know what they are doing!

We have been taking our dogs to Best Pets for two years. We love the staff and the treatment our dogs receive. Dr. Tapscott is great and always takes the time to ease your worries. I was blown away when our puppy needed care on a weekend day and she managed to come in just to treat him. We have recently moved, and still drive 30 mins from NH to bring our dogs there. I highly recommend this place for your pets!

We took one of our cats in for a same day appointment, due to some apparent neck wounds that seemed to be getting worse with each passing day. We expected to see Dr. Tapscott who has seen and taken care of our two male cats for several years since we brought them in as kittens. Dr. Tapscott has always been caring and professional and we have been extremely happy with the service she and her staff have provided. Today, we were met by Dr. Eric Franson, a new and excellent addition to the Best Pets Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Eric was knowledgeable, kind, and caring as he explained what he felt was going on with our cat. He was personable and spent a good amount of time with us, explaining everything from why our cat was excessively scratching and wounding himself to diet and exercise recommendations. My wife, son, and I left the clinic feeling very satisfied and happy with the care Dr. Eric provided and look forward to seeing him and/or Dr. Tapscott on future visits. We give this veterinary hospital five stars for excellent and compassionate customer service and urge others to use this clinic for all of their veterinary needs. Always great service!!!!

I have brought 4 of my pets to this vet for the past 5 years. The owner of this vet is unprofessional and will literally discharge you and your pets if you voice any complaints or critiques about their services/fees. Instead of being professional and communicating with me about my issue after hearing about it, the owner of this vet Heidi Tapscott told me without hesitation to find a new vet for my pets immediately. Apparently our loyalty of 5 years meant nothing. During the phone call with the support staff lady, I did not yell. I didn't curse. I even apologized to the staff on the phone for complaining... I suggested respectfully (but with obvious frustration) that she speak to those in charge about my complaints so maybe something can be improved. Once the owner heard about my disappointment and frustration with the extremely high prices and the fact that they take your pet and do tests on them without running it by you first to charge you high prices for the test afterwards (my only issues)? she told me she records ALL calls and that based on my conversation (which I promise I was not mean or rude; just assertive and honest), I was not welcome to return to this vet (quality control you know). I am offended and shocked that any professional business owner would treat their customers this way. Imagine if the world all treated each other this way!? "Oh I heard so-and-so has a concern/issue with the way I do things. Time to cut him off!" Of course not. We would talk about it and try to FIX the issue to make the person in our life happy, or at LEAST take the time to explain our reason for taking the action so they can have proper understanding. And this of course goes for businesses and how they should treat their customers! My opinion? Stay away. Especially if you want to feel free to express your opinion of their services. I'd rather find a down to earth humble animal doctor anyway.

Dr. Tapscott is an excellent veterinarian with excellent bed side manner. She will go out of her way to find answers to any of your questions and she is always staying current on new pet medicine. If you treat your pets like members of your family like I do you will feel comfortable with her as their doctor. She even heard my cats heart murmur that the cat cardiologist said most general practicing vets would not have heard.
