New to Boston and very happy to have taken my 7 yo lab/pit mix here. Everything was professional and straightforward, including what to expect for the bill. Also, clever and gentle means of administering vaccinations. Best vet I’ve been to. Might be on the pricey end but it’s in Back Bay so not surprising. Worth it though. Convenient hours for people with regular working hours (my appt was at 7am). Definitely recommend!

I cannot say enough about the staff at Back Bay Veterinary clinic. The expert, personalized and loving care that my dog and cat receives is a benchmark for other clinics to try to emulate. Every team member, from front desk to the MD are the highest standard possible. And the location cannot be beat. It is easy to find a parking space in that area. The Clinic is soothing, sterile and thoroughly modern. I cannot recommend Back Bay Veterinary Clinic strongly enough !!

I cannot give enough praise for how this clinic handled my little pups appointment. We are new to Boston and hadn’t set up a vet yet. Our dog, Irma, became ill with a high fever. Back Bay Veterinary Clinic was the only clinic able to get us in same day. Irma is leash reactive and doesn’t really feel comfortable around males. These behaviors were amplified by her being quite ill. The staff was totally accommodating and met her where she was. I even heard one of the techs ask the male vet to leave the back room so Irma could go back for her fluids. Most of the reviews talk about the price. Are they expensive? Yes, but it was 100% worth it for how helpful and accommodating they are. Plus, it’s Boston, everything is expensive! If you have a reactive or special needs pet, this is the place for you.

Back Bay Veterinary Clinic is an amazing place! The doctors and staff are professional, extremely knowledgeable, and caring. My mini-Goldendoodle is typically a nervous wreck but the staff put him at ease quickly and the doctors took excellent care of him. They follow-up with me at home after to be sure he was improving and put my mind at ease. I highly recommend, wouldn't go elsewhere!

Went there with multiple concernes about my bearded dragon. The staff were super friendly and willing to help. The vet was great. She addressed all of my concerns. When she didn't recognize a mark on my beardies belly I'm concerned about she said she would do research and wants daily emails to track progression. 10/10 would recommend.

This place will harass you to get a procedure done. I've been emailed and called numerous of times about a teeth cleaning for my dog that adds up to about $1200. But they can't send me a free diet program for my dog when they said they would? Very professional. I'd consider going to a different veterinary clinic because they obviously care more about their profits more than our animals.

During my visit, the only thing they did is trying to make me check my pet’s blood and do x-ray. The doctor spent no more than 5 minutes checking my pet’s condition, and spent half an hour talking about potential serious diseases from kidney failure to heart problem to scare me and make me accept those expensive tests that she suggested. When I asked her to evaluate the situation of my pet, she even said if I don’t do X-ray, “your pet is gonna die”. Very disappointed by the service. Won’t visit again.

I have taken one of my cats here a couple of times because it was very conveniently located in my neighborhood. Beautiful new practice right on one of Boston's main shopping streets. But you get to pay a hefty fee for the privilege. I don't doubt that their care is good, but I always felt that you are given a list of treatment options, with the most extensive and expensive one the one that is recommended. During my last visit here they recommend a "senior cat exam" for my totally healthy 9 yo cat, so I said sure. Not exactly sure what they did other than take blood and urine, because the appointment didn't take any longer than a regular one. The only difference was that for the first time ever, my cat was totally freaked out afterward and actually pooped in her carrier, which she had never done before (or since). And when the bill came, it was $442 (or something like that--I almost fainted). That's a lot of money for a totally routine examination. So, it you go here, make sure you bring a lot of money. Or at least ask beforehand what the treatment will cost.

Nice folks, knowledgeable. Issue is that everything is pricier here than other vets (understandable considering it's on Newbury St). For example, most of the products sold here are around double the price elsewhere/online.

I'm finally leaving a review, after using their services for the last 2.5 years. We've had some tough times with our pets, having to unexpectedly put down our 4 year old cat due to cancer, and recently an emergency visit, when my second cat swallowed a long piece of a felt toy that was causing complications. In all visits the staff here have been kind, supportive, and gave us the information we needed to make the best decisions for our pets. Dr. King, and especially Dr. Carey, have helped us through some very, very difficult decisions, while making it clear that if we had follow up questions we should contact them again. You might be able to find cheaper vet services by looking elsewhere, but the quality of care we get here makes it more than worth the price.

I have wanted to write this review since I left our first visit in January, but every time I sat down to do it, it always felt substandard. It really comes down to this: you could not bring your pet to better humans than those at Back Bay Vet. They hashtag many of their Instagrams with #allcreaturesgreatandsmall and you feel that sentiment all around you when you’re there. From the people who check you in, to the techs, and the doctors, you will not find more patient, friendly, animal-respecting people in Boston. They took such good care of my sweet little guinea pig from the moment we met. I’m admittedly a bit of a worrier (understatement of the year), and even I felt wholly comfortable boarding her for over 4 days at BBVC, knowing she would be safe and getting the best possible care. And I didn’t just bring her here for basic check ups or nail trims. Dr. Satchu performed major surgery on her, and continued to follow up regularly with me even beyond her formal recovery period had ended. I can only scratch the surface here of all the love and compassion she showed both my guinea pig and myself during such a difficult time; there really aren’t words to describe it fully. I tell everyone that they could not put their trust or their beloved animals in the hands of better people than they could here. I’m only sad that I don’t have more friends with pets that I could recommend BBVC to. Thank you for everything that you do.

I adore Back Bay Vet Clinic. I bring my 2 persian cats in and actually look forward to the visits! The office is super cute, everyone working is friendly and helpful, and the vets are wonderful (and we've seen several!). Their hours are really convenient - I've been able to get my cat in at the last minute at 7:30pm when they close at 8 and they're open on weekends! Whenever I have any concerns, I call them and they see us right away. I feel like my cats are genuinely cared about by everyone on the staff. I recommend them to anyone!

I've been coming here for the past year since my boyfriend and I got our puppy, and have had just an amazing experience. The staff is so kind and knowledgeable, fantastically compassionate, and you never have to wait too long for an appointment. I pop in all the time with random questions, and for prescription refills, and they do a fantastic job patiently helping me with everything. I'm sure I drive them crazy with my constant questions, but they handle everything so professionally. Overall great vet, and I wholeheartedly reccomend them to any dog-parent in the area.

BBVC was my local veterinarian for my dog Dozer when I lived in Boston. It was recommended to me by my friend because they used them for their dogs and the litter of Australian Shepherd puppies they had. Overall a quality clinic doing great work with very friendly staff. They might be a little more expensive because they are in Back Bay, but I found the money well spent. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because on at least one occasion they tried to sell me on a service my dog didn't need. Similar to my mechanic, trust and transparency is important, which I would say I had with them overall.

Really excellent experience here. My English bulldog has some pretty bad environmental allergies, among other health issues. Dr. Sager-Gellerman has been fantastic at helping us mediate his allergies while being so mindful of my dogs other health problems The entire staff is welcoming and patient. Their pricing is fair and my dog loves “shopping” all the toys when we go in. Overall just a really wonderful vet experience every time we visit!

We ended up needing a vet the Friday before Christmas, most we called had no availability. Back Bay was able to get us an appointment same day. We didn't have a wait, though their waiting room is very nice. They even have calming shirts for dogs and a dog bed in the waiting room. The vet covered all options and let us decide how we wanted to proceed. He even followed up by email that night and the next day. One thing to note, parking around here can be difficult. There are street metered spots and a garage not far.
