REVIEWS OF Angell Animal Medical Center IN Massachusetts

Sara Fitzsimmons

I recently flew up from Bermuda with my dog to determine a diagnosis and treatment plan for her. I was so impressed with the level of care that was received during her visit! The staff are just lovely and act so compassionately towards all the animals there, which gave me a sense of comfort during those times I wasn't able to be with her. I was also kept up to date on her treatments either by phone call or a text message, which was greatly appreciated. Thank you to all the Angell team!

From the moment we entered the medical center, the environment was one of care, compassion and understanding. The initial exam experience prioritized the comfort of my pet. I loved that she got to walk around in the exam room and explore while the doctor explained the action plan. I greatly appreciated the check-in calls and text message update with a picture of me dog. The visit was not the most comfortable as I went with my mother who was older and stood up for the entire visit which lasted 30 minutes. I wish there was a place for us to sit with her. The discharge meeting was great. I appreciated the opportunity to ask questions. GREAT COMMUNICATION!!!

I’ve been here over 2 hours now and am still waiting for my dog to have his bloodwork drawn. I finally was seen (ER visit) after waiting over an hour. The motion sensor lights have gone out multiple times in the waiting room we are in now. I’ve called and stopped by the front desk twice now and I’m only getting “well, it’s Saturday afternoon.” I’ve taken my dog to two other ERs and have been seen within 15 minutes of arrival at each place. I understand that They charge you the $155 emergency fee up front too - why is that? What other vet makes you pay before being seen? I’ve paid well over $300 for the ER vet fee alone, but they actually offer ER services. Angell should be up front with its customers and let them know they may have two wait HOURS to be seen in the ER before charging them a visit fee. Shameful because, like you, I read the other reviews which say what excellent care they offer.

Each visit Teddy had has been great. The staff has been so helpful, sweet and knowledgeable. Teddy is a senior dog and had a dental here yesterday and i am so glad i brought him here. Their specialists and knowledgeable staff put me at ease knowing hes in the best hands. I highly recommend them. I appreciated the patience the doctors and techs had with me asking so many questions and calling many times before his dental. Getting updates from the doctor during his procedure was so so helpful and made me less anxious. Your pet will get professional, high quality care here!! Thank you everyone at Angell for taking care of my baby.

Deena Bolen

Efficient process, friendly staff and most importantly we felt our kitty was in great hands during her stay. Efficient practice, no excessive wait times and wonderful doctors.

Gina Friedman

I found the experience to be great. The vet spent so much time with us and explained the treatment plan thoroughly. A wonderful experience and worth the drive from home. The time and patience of the team was greatly appreciated. I wouldn’t hesitate to come again and have already sung your praises to my local vet!

Paul Benson

Excellent vet! We've transitioned to Angell because of the excellent care and relatively affordable costs. Vets aren't cheap, but Angell charges much less than our previous vet. We also had an emergency visit lately for our dog and they did an absolutely amazing job. We were seen by Dr. Kelley, and she was thorough, informed and great with our dog. We highly recommend Angell!

Ray Perriello

After my bird, Trixie, was examined by the ER vet, they had her wait in a back room all alone until she could be seen by the vet. I understand it is their policy, but my baby would be much less stressed if she could've waited with me. We were there for a total of about two hours just to tell us she has to go on antibiotics for two weeks.

Camila Pedrosa

This is a wonderful place they are kind with the animals and the customers.

Mackenzie Smedile

Saved 2 of my dogs & my cat❤️❤️❤️ Thank you

Sarah Dunning

Just three weeks after Merlin having emergency back surgery (herniated disc) his doctor said he is doing Amazing with his recovery!!!!! Thank you Angell Memorial Boston for everything you did for Merlin. Dr. Jennifer Michaels and team were absolutely phenomenal, they were right on top of things, talked to me every step of the way and took excellent care before and after Merlin's surgery. I can't thank everyone enough for all they did helping Merlin and taken such great care of him!!!!!

Jonathan Goldstein

Great service. Immediate triage in emergency dept. Even with a line. Caring staff, top doctors and equipment in the state. This place is everything one would expect from a flagship animal hospital from the MSPCA.

Ann Goodreau

This place was awesome, I will never go to any other vet. I just wish it was a little bit closer to where I live.

anna redgrave

Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Even though I went into the emergency room on a Saturday night we were seen very quickly. Dr. Spear was wonderful, very friendly and kind to my bunny, and she explained my rabbit's condition and the treatment very well.

Linda Dunn

Emergency surgery to remove a foam earplug from my cat's intestine through the stomach. Staff and surgeon were very professional and kept me updated every step of the way. Lucky's incision healed nicely within the week and he was back eating within a day. The billing sequence is confusing and I need to follow up on it. Newsflash to cat owners: CATS LOVE EARWAX!!! The tech that brought Lucky out to me told me that his cat was always chewing up his Dad's hearing aids. My neighbors cats had a taste for earbuds that her daughters left around. The receptionist at my vets office said her cat was always rummaging in the bathroom baskets for Q-tips! Earplugs are now banned in our house and hearing aids put away in a box every night. Be warned!

Randy Kiessig

They have been there for my 16 year old grandpa of a dog multiple times, ensuring that while he is old he continues to act like a puppy. Amazing staff (Dr Hogan, Dr Biros, & Dr Moses , as well as their assistants are highly recommended).

WOW.. The WOW is for the extremely rude and nasty people that work there and they way the speak to people on the phone. They might be an animal hospital, but they don't care about animals. This morning I heard my 7 year old English Bulldog crying and saw him limping. I immediately brought him to his Vet and was diagnosed with an ACL tear in his hind leg. X-rays confirmed it. She recommend Dr. Nicholas Trout. I said great. If his Vet recommends him then I will call Angell. Here is where the WOW comes in play. Called Angell and was transferred to Dr. Trouts office. A woman answers the phone, right away I could tell I am talking to someone that hates her job, has no emotions or sympathy. I explain to her about my dogs injury and the importance. I would have expected a little sympathy, like "..so sorry to hear that", "... the poor thing". I heard nothing only the sound of her chewing gum. Her response, "..sir, Dr. Trout only sees patients on Tuesdays sir, and his next available sir, is July 9th sir". At first I thought I didn't hear her correctly. So I asked her again, could you please repeat as to when Dr. Trout will see us? and I get the exact same response ".Sir, Dr. Trout only sees patients on Tuesdays sir, and his next available sir, is July 9th sir". Thats when I dropped the phone. I picked it up from the floor and I ask her did you say July 9th? Yes sir, she responds. If July 9th he sees my dog when would the surgery be? It depends sir, maybe a month later or longer sir. I said thank you and hung up the phone. So I called VCA in Weymouth. If my dog has to wait for a month to see Dr. Trout and then another month for his surgery. 2 months of suffering? NO THANKS. Angell is a joke. P.S. When my previous Bulldog was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, 8 years ago at the age of 2, his vet recommended Angell. I said great. I brought him there. They said he needs chemo and radiance. I said fine. It will cost $25K - $30K. I said fine. I Paid the did it he lived a year. Now I call them to see the orthopedic and I get, "..sir we can see your dog in a month sir", and they have the audacity to email me and call me for donations? What a joke. Actually they are a joke. Chris K. Bulldog Lover.

The receptionist Jessica is AMAZING and should definitely be recognized for her hard work and exceptional customer service! The doctors are also very thorough which makes me confident that my dog is receiving exceptional care and attention.

Token Psycho

The vet and vet tech were very kind and sweet. My puppy had a great time.

Michael Tedesco

The care your establishment provides is very good, although it was more than I was told when it came to the bill. When it comes to my animals I do not mind paying for the best of treatment. But I would prefer to be told the total amount when I come to pick up my animal and not be charged 300 over the max price I was given or told over the phone. Overall I still feel your agency is the best Thank you for saving my animal Upon entering your emergency doors your staff was extremely fast on getting my animal in to be seen. Your admittance desk was very caring and understanding

I just want to say "Thank you so much !!!!" to Dr. Carolyn Chen! She took care of my family member carefully and took a long time with us, she explained every detail to us. As a doctor, she is not only doing her job professionally but also she is a good sympathetic listener, and she comfort her patient, give us suggest with her previous experiences. When I was taking time with Dr Chen, I feel that the hospital is not just a hospital, it also can make people feel warm, respectful and thankful! Thank you Dr carolyn Chen! God saw what you did, and wish you good luck in the future!

Zulie Mirles

Excellent staff, excellent service, excellent attention to the needs of our pet! Would definitely bring my pets back and highly recommend!

My first visit and I'm happy with how the staff kept me up to date on my dogs progress after surgery, sending me pictures and txt messages which was a great comfort. I'm happy with my experience here!

Matt H

Angell was recommended to me from a coworker. I then looked at saw saw 4.6 stars out of 500+ reviews and I was sold. We are so glad we decided on Angell. Dr. Casale spent a lot of time in the pre surgery visit going over our 16 week old Goldens (Finn) Hernia diagnosis and explained what needed to be done, possible outcomes and potential issues Finn may run into. We definitely appreciated her obvious expertise on the issue and overall transparency. From moment we dropped Finn off to the moment we picked him up the Staff and Dr. Casale were awesome. We were pleasantly surprised when started to receive text messages with pictures of Finn (before and after the surgery). It made us feel connected to the process and definitely helped with our overall concern and anxiety. I can't say enough how incredibly positive experience it was. Thank you to Dr Casale and the Angell staff on taking such great care of our little baby Finn!

Everyone was polite, timely, and professional. My cat wasn't stressed at ALL (unusual for the high-strung kitty) she was even purring the whole time. The vet assistant wasn't super helpful (asked her some questions and she answered .. different questions?) but she was very kind. The cost was good (on the high end but certainly cheaper than it would be anywhere else) and reasonable. Loved the adoption center by the waiting area - very tempted to find a friend for my cat while waiting and certainly perused :) Again - adoption centers are often not thought of as clean, bright, and joyful. There is no sadness or darkness, and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else for veterinary services in Boston. cleanliness, friendliness, and answering all the questions! cost, as well, is the best compared to anywhere else

Alexandra Kaidan-Berry

My cat had a bowel obstruction! They said it was cancer without any tests, then they offered to give her expensive chemo! What charlatans! Well she died at age 9! The vet said that was old! What a sicko!

Luke Palinski

I would give zero stars if I could. I was disgusted with the treatment of my cat. I gave them a second chance ( my wife was less than thrilled with her dog's treatment there over the summer) and I regret having done so. After waiting for 2 hours in an empty waiting room with my cat still bleeding profusely from a severe leg wound, we left. My wife took him to the Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital in Woburn where he was treated immediately and in for surgery within an hour. I will never go to Angell Animal Medical Center ever again. After having 2 bad experiences there with 2 different animals, I stand strongly by my rating and review.

Margaret Herrick

Everyone from intake, vet, vet's assistant, check out was friendly and professional. The Vet answered all our question clearly and thoroughly. Follow-up was timely and again very thorough. It was as positive an experience as possible under the cicumstances.

Marie McDonough

Loved the facility, as well as the staff we were in contact with for the appointment. My only disappointment was with the check-in process. I have an extremely shy/fearful dog and had difficulty in trying to keep her distracted and preventing her from barking at other animals, especially dogs. The lobby is huge and very loud, which added to my dogs nervousness, too. As soon as we made it through check-in, we were directed to the waiting area, which was just as loud and my dog continued to anxiously bark at nearby dogs. When we were finally brought to the exam/meeting room she relaxed a little. I really liked Dr. Goodman, as well as the assistant (sorry, have forgotten her name), who was enormously helpful in scheduling back-to-back x-rays and ultrasounds to avoid incurring "hospitalization costs." We will definitely be returning next week for these diagnostic tests but unfortunately will have to deal with the "big scary" and uncomfortable check-in and waiting areas

Emily Holt

Welcoming, friendly staff. The vet's compassion for both animals and the owners

Miguel Zamora

From the start to the end the process of the visit was very smooth - we had an appointment so we waited about 5 minutes. The visit with the doctor was not rushed at all, he answered all my questions and took the time to explain the process we were going to follow to determine the diagnosis. The hospital was clean, the waiting area is spacious and the interaction with other dogs can be easily minimized. The doctors office was equally clean and comfortable. Overall the experience was very positive.

Audrey Birkett

My pup at rat poison at a BBQ and I immediately took him to Angell. They got him in for treatment right away, kept me updated, and got the poison out of him in less than 2 hours. When he came out from the treatment area he was as feisty as he always is, I couldn’t tell that he had been in danger at all. I thought it would cost a fortune but it was very reasonable for a visit to the ER. Then, they followed up to see how he was the next day. I can’t laud them enough. They saved my little big man’s life.

Don Graham

I give Angell 5 stars for their medical center. If you could separately review their fundraising and information privacy it would be 0. Be weary donating, use a false address, or get a big mailbox. They sell the list nationwide, really disappointing.

Meg P

Drs Mazza and McCarthy were so thorough and careful and communicative with my new rescue pup’s health and the findings that arose along the way. I’m so happy to have started this new relationship on a great foot and to have a game plan for P’s improving health. Thank you for the care and attention to detail you both have. Dr Mazza's thorough nature with P's exam was really helpful (especially since we don’t know her medical history). She explained each step and answered my questions without making me feel silly. Dr McCarthy handled her dentistry and helped to create a game plan we all felt good about that kept P’s best interests in mind.

Jacqueline Hatch

Friendly, competent staff and short wait times made my experience at Angell a positive one. The vet provided thorough information related to my pet's health, and was able to recommend treatments and medications that would help her live a long, happy life. I am so happy I found Angell for my cat! Would definitely recommend to others!

Jim Burnell

Being from out of town, I appreciated the availability of emergency care. The veterinarian was thorough. She answered my questions and provided options. The follow-up phone call to discuss test results was very helpful.

Invader

Unbelievable waited for hours

Irina Deresh

I don't know how this people sleep at night!!! They killed my little French Bulldog which had a minor problem with his eye ( charged me $800.00 for that).I have lost not only one, but few pets because of this people! Please, never take your pet to this place!

Joseph Kinley

The professionalism and care was the best I’ve experienced. Thank you so much for helping!

Tyler Wright

I've been bringing one of my cats to Angell West (Waltham) for the past couple of years and have always had a great experience! When my other cat fell ill with a more serious issue, they recommended that we bring him to Angell in Boston. This has also been a great experience! The size of the facility is huge (the woman working there said that they have ~100 vet techs on staff). There's plenty of parking and right when you walk in, it almost looks like a human hospital! They understand your concerns, they take everything seriously, and they actually care about your pet and you! I trust and recommend Angell (West/Waltham or Boston) 100%!

Jennifer Webb

This hospital was better than most human hospitals I have worked with. They were more patient and family-centric than my experience with human family members in hospitals, more available, and more responsive. I am so impressed! My only constructive feedback is that the estimate for the services were a little low, and the bill came in higher. The estimate range I was given was like $1300-$1700, but the services came in at over $1800. It was a simple surgery without complications, so I would have expected the estimate to be more accurate. They wrote off the bill down to the high end of the estimate they had provided, which I really appreciated. But, it would have been helpful for the estimate to be a bit more accurate, or the actual cost (without complications of course!) to fall in the middle of the estimate.

Tom Osdoba

Everything was organized. Though our first visit, no paperwork was needed at check-in, and the staff and doctor were focused and effective at working through the complicated process of preparing for international travel. Everything was organized and prepared, each step was executed simply and efficiently.

Margaret Sullivan

My 7-year old lab needed to have root canal surgery as well as two teeth extracted; Dr. Riehl was very thorough in her communications both pre and post operatively, excellent at setting expectations. Though I have not had to use Angell's services prior to this, it is very clear that all of the staff - front desk, technicians, vet - are all part of a very professional and compassionate place.

Ryann Greenberg

The attention to detail and customer care that we received was incredible! Everyone was so sweet and the service was so quick and speedy...us and our nervous kitty were out in no time!

Blair U

I appreciated the comfort they provided my dog when he stayed there overnight. I also appreciated all the updates from my doctor about how my dog was doing. Only downside was the long wait time.

Allen Vuong

Angell Animal Medical Center has always been nothing, but exceptional every time I am there. My last visit with Megan Reilly and Maureen Carroll was great. I was concerned with my pet Kirby and they were extremely understanding and helpful in what needed to be done to ensure he would be okay. I even had questions after I left and they responded very quickly. Watching how the staff here interact with animals and people has shown me I hope one day I can be a part of this wonderful team!

Kimberly Shames

Dr cray and her support staff saved my dog from a bleed in his abdomen. I am truly grateful to this team. My dog is a very important part of our family. Calls from the vet every morning was very comforting and professional. Establishment always seemed very clean.

Stephanie Hoban

I loved the vet. She took so much time with us and was very frank and down to earth. I felt very confident that my dog was in good hands. 24/7 care. Pharmacy on premises. Awesome vets. Quick service

Kerri O

The surgery liaison is such a good idea. Jeanne was great and endured my texts all day during my pup’s procedure. Dr. Kaye is so responsive to questions and really takes the time to explain things. So easy to communicate!

J Co

Everyone was so calm and helpful during my really stressful emergency visit for my kitty Loki. Dr Chen and Dr Quinn were amazing, knowledgeable, calming and very skilled. I felt in very good hands during one of the worst days of my life. Thankfully I was able to take Loki home with me and I’m confident under Dr Quinn’s care he’ll have many days ahead. Thank you all for your kindness and understanding and care. Loki and I really appreciate it. Everyone was always thinking ahead to make things easier (all scripts filled for 30 days, detailed thourough easy to understand discharge instruction, pre scheduled follow up appt, all questions answered). A very difficult day was made logistically as smooth as possible and everyone from the young woman checking me in the to the young woman coming around the five updates to my two doctors, to the discharge nurse were very kind, thoughtful and supportive. This meant so much at a time when I wasn't sure my kitty would be coming home with me.

Jeff Sawtelle

Best doctors, best care. They'll work with you to finance treatments if you need. They're my veterinarian of choice for over 25 years.

Patty Reilly

Our dog received very caring and professional care at Angell Animal Medical Center. It was an unusual case and we were very happy that Dr Pavletic was able to review the case and set up a course of action. When we decided that surgery was necessary, the staff was very helpful and understanding, calling us before surgery to ensure we were all set and calling afterwards to let us know our dog was doing well. We feel that we received an expert opinion and are pleased with the continuing care.

Jamie

We love the MSPCA. When we called to see if we should bring our dog in to the ER, the staff member was very knowledgeable and empathetic. When we got there, she remembered us from the phone and immediately brought a tech out for triage. Dr. Pena was lovely throughout the whole process. She treated our pup with kindness and love and wonderful care. You guys are truly the BEST! All of the specialists on-site and expertise available. We always leave knowing that we had the best vets available to treat our 4-legged child. The facilities are lovely, with nice places to walk the dog outside, free coffee, and vending machines. The waiting areas are very well lit and we love that you offer free treats and water for the pups.

Megan Fosha

I made an appointment and was seen right away. The staff was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The facilities were clean and they were very gentle with my cat when clipping his claws and cleaning his ears. Atticus and I were very happy! :)

Jennifer Echols

Every member of the staff that I interacted with were helpful, thoughtful, and understanding. They took the time to understand about the situation that brought me in and all pertinent background information. The vet, Amanda, was very respectful. She took the time to explain the diagnosis, what I can do moving forward and answer all my questions. I felt spoiled with the time and attention I received. Unfortunately I have been to angell for a few emergency visits and I always feel like I get the proper care and attention I need to feel good about my dog being away and injured.

Sarah Moran

All of the staff is very friendly and welcoming. I feel very comfortable leaving my dog in their care. We unfortunately have to board our dog during her treatments but the staff makes us feel more at ease with the pictures and updates they send. These updates are wonderful and bring us some comfort and happiness in a stressful time.

Hilary Dobel

I already sent a thank-you note to Angell because our experience with the emergency/after-hours team was so positive. Our cat ate some packing tape and was vomiting badly and seemed very uncomfortable. We'd never seen her so unhappy, and we were really worried. At Angell, all of our interactions were professional and reassuring—everyone was so kind. We also appreciated the waiting area where we could sit with our cat away from the dogs. Thank you for taking such good care of us all on such a scary night!

Lee Malo

GREAT place for your Fur child

Rori Edwards

Jocelyn is amazing, it was so reassuring to know that she worked with Herkules when he was waiting to be adopted and that she shared her struggles with her own dog. We felt so validated and supported and that we had a good plan moving forward. Looking forward to seeing her in October to check in on Herk's progress.

Steven Spicer

Went to the satellie facility in Waltham. Clean, airy, well-lit waiting room. The doctor actually spent time to discuss the test and results so I felt like I understood the situation.

Margaret Young

Went in here for my first time. My Nino is a very overactive pup, very vocal and kept barking at other pets that came in. We were put in a room immediately to calm him down, which helped so much. ✔ in was awesome, ✔ out was fast and Nino is now a client here. Highly recommend here. A bit pricey but the care is amazingly professional and caring

Esraa Sadeek

Everyone was very caring and compassionate. They really made me and my furry loved ones feel safe and comfortable despite the lengthy waiting times

Safia Jamil

The best animal hospital in the area. Excellent care. It offers more treatment options for various medical conditions, compared the other animal emergency hospitals. They have board certified surgeons and anesthesiologists. Very big, very quick. Expensive, but that's why you get pet insurance.

Amanda McCarthy

Every single person I interacted with was incredible. I was panicked and scared just like my cat and every single person showed empathy and patience. DR. REZ! She was the best, I can’t thank her enough. My first Dr Koontz( I think??) was great too. Keith & Taylor (i think?)at the desk were so kind. I wish I remembered everyone’s name but I can’t say enough about how wonderful everyone was. The general kindness everyone showed was amazing. I was a mess and I felt like the minute I walked in, everything would be ok! Dr. Rez spent a lot of time with me on the phone (sometimes 30 minutes a call!) and on site making sure I understood everything. I didn’t feel rushed out. You could feel the genuine caring from everyone. As I'm sure you can imagine, the payment part is overwhelming but I was given options and felt comfortable asking as may questions as I needed. While I hope to never come back due to an emergency, I feel confident that if I do, it will be a great experience again

Zalina Baskaty

Best Dermatology by far! My Wolfie has been suffering with a skin condition which made his paws bleed. I took him everywhere within an hour drive. Going to Boston wasn't my first choice. Eventually we made an appointment and saw Dr Loft. He was amazing, explained everything in detail, gave us medication that was effective(!). I saw improvement on the skin within a day. Wolfie's paws no longer cause him pain (knock on wood). Thank you, team MSPCA Dermatology!

Thomas Garrett

We just had our cat have I-131 therapy done. Dr Duddy, Ellen and Nick, the techs, were so great!! They updated us almost daily and sent us pictures of our cat while he was in recovery. They were so caring and informative!!

Emma Sutter

Awesome place but always busy, always a super long wait and have had the occasional misdiagnosis. But Terri Bright is a genius, the care is usually good, and it's always fun to take their agility classes for dogs!

Samadhi Moreno

This was an amazing experience, Dr Blak (maybe I misspelled her name) was amazing, she was thorough, she treated Dallas like she was her own puppy and made me feel calm and confident the whole time. We want her as our regular vet. The service! Every one of your employees was so sweet and caring with us in a time of stress. We appreciate it so much

Sandra Weston

I can’t begin to describe how thankful I am to the doctors and staff at Angel Medical Center for taking care of my 12 year old dog. She has been ill for several months now, after having eaten several pieces of plastic, and I was so afraid that I was going to lose her. The doctors and staff at Angel were compassionate, caring, and comforting toward me, as I was very emotional about my sick dog. They were able to successfully remove the remaining plastic from her tummy and she’s now healthier than she’s been in months. I am so grateful to the doctors at this wonderful hospital and will only bring my dog to Angel for emergencies going for the rest of her life. Thank you to the doctors, technicians, and staff at Angel for giving my dog years back on her life!

Pat Gipps

I was very pleased with the caring and professional way the Doctors and Tech cared for and handled my older dog during his visit. They answered all my questions, I didn't feel rushed - time was spent on making sure that we were comfortable, and understood everything that was happening. Full explanations thru out the visit and the findings was greatly appreciated.

Sherri Fisher

Excellent, kind, thorough diagnostics and care for pets (and pet-parents). Extraordinary--Like a people hospital

Lukas Brower

I appreciated the fact that there was a cat specific waiting area to avoid stressing out cats who are afraid of dogs. When I arrived my cat was car sick and the staff helped to clean up his carrier and wash him which I thought was really nice of them. Also Dr. Loft spent a lot of time explaining the procedure my cat would need which was more explanation and time than most vets have given me at an appointment.

Jordan Cromwell

It was an excellent experience. The vets clearly showed that they're passionate and knowledgeable about animals. My dog got treatment right away and was gently taken care of.

Akittycat44

I waited for days for a dr. to return my phone call regarding a pet product information and no call back so I decided to buy it anyways. After I paid $60 for the food, the food caused my kitties to vomit and mind you the point of having this dr prescribed food is so that they won't be vomiting. Horrible service, and cost a fortune to take your pet to this place. They do not care about the animal, only about the money.

Miriam Erick

Razor (an amazing (rescue) cat!) referred to Angell ~ 5 yr ago with a "rare" ($$) ailment- pemphigus folliogeus. Yes.. expensive problem but his MD team enabled him a normal life up until now. Age caught up with Razor @ 17 years. Various interventions offered (because technology can) but reality it's "dwindles". Feel comforted all options were explored on Razor's behalf and his existence on this Planet in making us humans laugh & smile was appreciated. Thank U all @ Angel.

Olivia Molloy

DO NOTR GO HERE. They do not care about your pets. my Grandparents took their beloved dog here. She was misdiagnosed and given pointless treatments just so my grandparents could lose their pet 10 days later $4000 poor. I took my Penelope of 12 years to this Hospital to only be stripped of 3000 dollars for a treatment that did not work, a mis-diagnosis and now my beautiful pet has a lump growing under her tail that is almost impossible for them to have missed and she is in pain. DO NOT GO HERE. THEY DO NOT CARE FOR YOUR PETS. they will charge you insane amounts of money to send your pet home in worst condition than when you originally brought them in. Go elsewhere, my loves health went south with in 2 days, she now is limping and is not eating.

Corie Scibelli

Totally excellent care and communication, even in emergency situations. It was pretty quiet when we went in, but my dog was seen in a timely manner. The vet explained everything related to my dog's issue to me and didn't pressure me into services that I thought were unnecessary. Although it was a couple hundred dollars, it was an emergency visit and I was prepared to pay whatever the cost. I was really satisfied with the care my dog received and the customer service that I was given. They didn't judge me at all for the situation and I'm grateful that I have access to emergency pet care so close to home.

Pygmy Puff

My dog ate something that they should have not and they threatened her life, saying that they would either put her down or give her away if we didn't pay a thousand dollars a day. I cannot believe they would do that. I INSTEAD took her to Tureen where they cared deeply about her unlike Angel.

Ned McDonnell

I don't have much to say other than everyone has been so kind and full of empathy for our dog. It really feels like everyone there is rooting for us. After every visit I feel like I have a firm grasp on what is happening with my dog. Everyone takes time to explain and answer any questions. And again, it truly feels like everyone in the building is rooting for our dog.

Took our 12 year old cat to this medical center yesterday with symptoms of struggling walking and not eating. After waiting 3 hours in the waiting room, Dr’s diagnosed fever immediately but blood screening and vital signs were diagnosed as normal. xrays didn’t show any major issues either. Dr recommended overnight visit of several days for more in depth analysis and observation at a cost of $3,000 to diagnosis properly. Dr Alluded to a major health problem with out ever saying the word cancer. After paying $375 we decided to take her home and pray for the best but realizing she may be end of life. Today we woke up and decided we needed a definitive diagnosis and took our cat to a local veterinarian. Within 10 minutes they diagnosed her as having a skin infection which caused the fever and difficulty walking. I’m not sure if this facility specializes in trauma to animals or just deals with emergency situations but they clearly lack experience in diagnosing something as simple as a skin infection. I’m not pleased to have spent that much money and wasted so much time with a diagnosis. I would not recommend based on my experience

I couldn’t be happier with the knowledge, professionalism and courtesy of the dermatology vet, his team and the other professionals I had contact with while treating my Shar Pei at Angell in Jamaica Plain. They were all GREAT‼️ I just lost my girl but I’ll be forever grateful to them with such kindness with her every single appointment. ❤️

A beautiful facility where animal welfare is taken very seriously--maybe TOO seriously. It would have been easier to apply for a loan or a job or broker international peace than the two LONG LONG interviews I had to endure. "What is your favorite thing about [your pet]?" And about 10,000 questions, all about biting and scratching, that felt like I was in a deposition. Indeed, I'm grateful that my beloved cat is now in the care of such a dedicated group of people. That dedication requires hard work on your part, though.

The front office is the laziest and slowest that I have ever seen of any SPCA in my life. I have lived on the East Coast, West Coast northwest southeast and in the Midwest and this is by far the worst SPCA when it comes to actually having her staff be able to communicate with the patients and humans The front office is the laziest slowest that I have ever seen of any SPCA in my life. The front doesn’t speak to the back, the front doesn’t speak to the admissions across the way, and they cannot get paperwork or phone calls back to any customers in under 48 hours. My dog had an easy surgery and the surgery went well and the surgeon was absolutely amazing. It’s the rest of the staff that’s a living nightmare this facility. In addition do not ever come to the SPCA from 5 o’clock to 8 PM at night. They say no appointment necessary, just remember There never fully staffed in the front. , there’s too many people, and it’s dirty because they don’t have time to take care of anything. If you come after four in the afternoon for 5 PM, you will spend no less than 30 to 50 minutes standing in line just to check in to get your work done. The employees cannot communicate from the right-hand to the left-hand to the brain of any person that works here. The quality of my surgeons work is spot on but the rest of the team needs to be retrained or let go. Also, when you call during the day you will never get a human on the phone especially for Admissions. Be prepared to wait hours if not days to get calls back. Quality work but shit everyone else.

If you're reading this because you're in a crisis and wondering if you should take your beloved animal to this clinic, then I URGE you to read this entire review. Our 6 and a half year old dog was pregnant and we arrived urgently to Angell's clinic desperate for help because she was having contractions for four hours after only birthing one puppy. My boyfriend called before arrival to let them know that we have a pregnant dog in pain, pup, and expressed his deep concern. The only response was "you'll be due $155.00 examination and everything else that follows." Fair, of course, there's a price but can you at least say something that reassures that you want to help? However, we were almost there and panicking so continued in high hopes. We walked in, and I was holding her newborn pup in my arms wrapped in my PJs and went to the front desk and said, "can I please get this puppy formula, she has not eaten in four hours and I'm afraid for her life?" The woman at the front desk said that someone would be right out AFTER your dog gets checked in. Very upset, I said ok and waited with my boyfriend. We arrived around 10:15pm and did not get checked in and seen until 10:45pm even after we called. No one was in the waiting room, and there was no sense of urgency. The most pleasant person we dealt with was the nurse that came out and greeted us. She took the dogs vitals without a problem, and she said she would be right back. Upon her return, she stated they needed to separate the pup from her mother, and take the mother back alone. Any educated professional should know that it is not in the mothers best interest to bring her to an unknown area while she is in stress, without her newborn pup, and her owner. It sounds like you're only putting the dog in a more stressful situation, this is common sense. We asked why we could not remain together, and she told you just can't, its protocol. After some arguing and begging, they allowed us to stay together in a room. At this point, we were waiting for our doctor, Maya, who came in greeted herself coldly, and took the mothers vitals and asked some questions. We told her about a green discharge, and she disregarded the statement (this is significant, please continue to read). I asked again if I could get some formula for the baby and reiterated she had not eaten in 5 hours, and the doctor said she would look to see if there's an extra in the back. I'm thinking, "How is it possible that Angell hospital’s EMERGENCY department has no formula for this puppy that may die?" and she also went on to say, you should probably get the puppy checked in for evaluation too. She even stated that it is dangerous for the puppy to go without being fed for only an hour, but she proceeded to do nothing about it. She never bothered to look for the formula, and never updated us on the status of that. She said she needed to take the mother back but my boyfriend wanted to go with her because of the mother’s stress levels, but Maya said that no one could be back there. PLEASE LOOK AT PICTURES FOR THE REST OF REVIEW P1 - Begins with "Moreover" P2 - Begins with "Boyfriend heard" P3 - Begins with "defensive" P4 - Begins with "we waited" P5 - Begins with "back" sorry if there out of order. My dog was in the Hospital for 10 days and EVERYONE at Angell Memorial were fantastic. I got a phone call 2 or 3 times a day with updates. Dr. Ulfelder saved my dogs life and his leg. He was on deaths door when we brought him in. She was amazing! I will be forever grateful to them.

My dog was extremely sick and needed emergency surgery. Unfortunately we were not able to come up with the money up front that they were requiring so they recommended we surrender him and they will take care of al of his medical needs and then adopt him out to a family that loves him as much as we did. An entire 24 hours had passed and my phone rang from MSPCA, my heart instantly dropped. They informed me the dog was “showing aggressive behavior” and they weren’t going to move forward with any treatment or surgery and the only option was euthanasia. They proceeded to tell me no surgery or medical treatment had been done yet..... my dog was only two years old and has been with our family for two years. We have a one year old and two year old and our pup was far from aggressive. I am sick to my stomach that they allowed him to sit there so sick for so long without operating on him as he was puking up blood for almost 48 hours at that point. If my dog was to show any sign of aggression, it would’ve been the first time and quite frankly, I wouldn’t blame him. Out dog was in a unfamiliar place surrounded by strangers, he was very sick tired and probably in a lot of pain. I do not think euthanasia should have been the result, shouldn’t have even been in an option in this situation because if there was any fear or concern, they are a vet and could’ve given him any typed of meds to calm him down or even muzzle if they thought was necessary. I’m disgusted in this place and forever hurt that they refused help to my baby and it ended in a wrongful death.

Dr Hsu was incredible thought the whole diagnostic process and onwards. She really knew how to explain things to us and made it easy for us to make decisions for Gorgonzola as a team. The resources available to us at angell were outstanding, made it possible to get Gorgonzola the care she needed. Having resources for all forms of treatment in one facility makes all the difference to us

Teresa Clements

Never go there. I have a dog that needs surgery they put a cast on him and refused any more treatment I don know how to take care of him. I don't know how to take a car off They left us hangin

Shannon White

Everyone at Angell was very nice, considerate, and professional. I was really impressed and appreciative of the time Dr. Loft took to explain everything in detail to me. Dr. Loft and his staff were also great with my dog.

Angel Memorial emergency veterinary hospital is a top notch facility. We brought our 6 yr old golden retriever in after having left the Mass Referral veterinary hospital in Woburn. Angellbmemorial charged us half of what Mass Referral was going to charge us. Mass referral quoted $6000-$10,000 to do the procedure of removing a blockage in our dog’s small intestines. Angell charged $3500. In addition, the care they gave to us and our dog was outstanding. Dr. Brannan was caring and knowledgeable and informed us every step of the way. We received photos and updates about our dog’s recovery several times a day. They even kept our dog an extra night because he was slow to recover. When we picked him up, we even were told that we had a $400 refund on our bill. I can’t say enough about how happy we are with Angell memorial veterinary hospital in Jamaica Plain and how thankful we were to have left Mass referral in Woburn.

Deborah Burke

Absolutely the best veterarian facility. Our neurosurgeon was stellar and I feel strongly that had it not been for her skill our dog would not be with us today. The facility is immaculate and staff wonderful. I never leave reviews but felt this warranted one.

I regret taking my 17 year old dog to Angell Animal Medical Center. Do NOT take your pet here if you want compassionate geriatric care. Dr. Johnson took care of our elderly dog and admitted her to their ICU for IV fluids and an antibiotic. When we decided to take our frightened dog home - she objected. She told use that if we brought her home then her treatment would be considered a "failure." She even had us sign a "leaving against medical advice" form! Taking an elderly dog who cannot see or hear out of her cage and back home is NOT contrary to good care. How dare she suggest such a thing? She defined "treatment failure" by her own standards. That is poor care.

Jason T. Murray

Great that they are open 24 hours a day and their staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

Lorena Silva

We came here for a second opinion and Dr. Lisa Gorman was very patient and knowledgeable. She gave us a very detailed explanation of our options, procedures and next steps in order to find out what is going on with our fur baby. The technician and front desk staff was also very friendly and helpful.

Eleanor Beltz

Dr. Terri Bright and Susan Conway were excellent and really made me feel at ease during my appointment. Terri was able to recreate the concerning behaviors very quickly after our discussion- a testament to her experience and professionalism- which limited the stressors placed on my dog. She provided a clear, manageable and multifaceted plan of action at the end of the first visit. Both Terri and Susan were fantastic and I am looking forward to the progress I anticipate my pup (and myself!) making over the next few months as well as our next visit with Terri and Susan.

I went to Angell for the first time for my rabbit's annual physical last week. Everyone I met was very friendly. Check in is separate from the rest of reception, which makes it a breeze. I was nervous about going to an all-animal types office (before moving to Boston, we went to a dedicated-exotics office) because my bunny has been known to be afraid of some dogs (as she should be) and travel is already stressful, but I was pleased that there is a dedicated waiting area for exotics and the treatment room seemed to be rabbits-only. There was hardly a wait, which I loved. Dr. Freilicher and tech, Giana, gave my pet parenting and my rabbit a lot of compliments, which gave me the warm and fuzzies. I also felt incredibly confident in Dr. Freilicher's advice and expertise.

Genevieve Hammond

Everyone was wonderful, from Connor who scheduled the appointment, to the young man who greeted us as we entered, to (of course) Jocelyn, the behaviorist. She took so much time, was so patient and kind and knowledgeable, and left us with many strategies and an excellent overall assessment & plan. Lots of room for us to wait, no need for dogs to be close together; lots of time and attention during the appointment; prompt follow up to phone calls via email. Everything exceptionally professional & thoughtful, and calming (for the nervous dog parent!).

I have brought my dog into MSPCA Angell Emergency Department twice in the last six months. At best, their way of doing things is inefficient and thoughtless. At worst, they are just plain greedy and lazy. ❌

Barbara Reynolds

I brought my dog in to make sure there was nothing serious going on. He is a Dachshund, and has had some minor issues in the past. The vet who saw him was very thorough in her examination of him, and gave me instructions and meds to make him more comfortable. My mind was eased, and his pain is being managed. I am very grateful. I appreciate receiving high quality care on Easter evening!

Craig Legget

The staff truly cares for your pet! Designated dog/cat waiting rooms!

Elena Moreira

Emergency care available was good. However our cats emergent need for surgery was delayed for almost a day because which ever corrupt business personnel operating this facility is trying to gain from people who care about their animals and in moment of distress and concern I was told a minimum payment of $4000 needed to be made before surgery. When I informed them about the pet insurance it was covered , they proceeded to contact me back and delay the surgery changing the price and asking for another 1500 after an initial 850 was already given for exam/analysis procedures. After a 30 min call to speak with management they said they’ll make a “one time exception” but payment needed to be made upon discharge. I was going to take my cat out of there but he was discharged wreaking of urine and nonetheless surgically recovering but it was inhuman how they were basically trying to rob an individual for their pets wellbeing, taking advantage .

Check in was quick and friendly. Barely had to wait before the tech got us. Dr ratnofsky is always amazing with my dog. Ally can be really nervous but she adores Mara and even sat on her lap! She was quick and had such finesse when doing the vaccines and exam and her tech Brittany was very thorough while taking a history and very loving to Ally as well. When she had a tough time getting Ally’s blood (totally understandable, she’s super fluffy and not always an easy stick) she was able to get another tech very quickly to give it a try. Jamie from clinic stepped in and saved the day! They all could see that Ally was nervous but were so patient and sweet and kept telling her that it was ok and that she was a good girl.

I went to Angell Animal Medical Center for the first time last month. For 3 years my beagle has been sick. On and off. I went from my primary vet in CT to a holistic vet in RI and a nutritionist. They were great however Mandy was lacking something and things just were not right. She was going down hill. I met Dr. Caroll and her tech Megan at Angell and they have been absolutely amazing! My Mandy Mae beagle went in for an endoscopy. They treated her super well and the procedure went excellent. Every question I asked (which I called all the time) they answered. It was a little rocky at drop off and pick up HOWEVER, that will be absolutely everywhere you go! I spoke my concerns and they were addressed. Little things. It was just some miscommunication with the drop off and pick up They were not even seeing my dog. I am 100% pleased with dr. Caroll and her staff and I thank them for everything they did for Ms. Mandy Mae! The people at the desk every time I called always had answers and were very friendly and extremely helpful. I will absolutely go back to Angell! I could keep going and say so much more of the comfort, kindness and the excellent care she received from Megan and Dr. Caroll.

Check-in was relatively easy. It was a busy night, but still we were only there about 15 minutes before a vet tech took vitals and maybe 30 - 45 minutes total before a doctor came in. We were ultimately sent home due to there being a lead time before the doctor could provide the treatment necessary, so we ended up going to our regular vet in the morning. I was able to obtain a pain killer prescription and left. Since we didn't end up getting the actual treatment, it would have been nice to get the deposit back, but they were upfront about it being non-refundable and I accepted that risk going into it. Angell works because the are open almost always, otherwise I would have gone to the regular vet from the start.

" Hillary provided my pet with an exam that was helpful and inexpensive. It helped a lot to have Scout seen on a Sunday. I brought him in to see his regular doctor on Monday where he got a complete exam and x-rays. The chicken bone that was in his stomach was almost completely digested by then. Hillary was very friendly and affectionate toward my dog. She had a level of expertise, but the forthcoming personality toward Scout was most appreciated. "

Jaye Knyte

The wait time to be seen is ridiculous...they did take of my kitten.

Catherine Ibarra

Great facility for 24/7 care. My senior boy was experiencing arthritis pain and his primary care vet was booked for days. They provided a thorough exam and medications to relive his discomfort.

Pat Geyer

I am so very impressed with the reception and care at Angell West. Our ER vet went the extra mile to ensure that we understood how she came to her conclusion and the alternatives available. Every other family patient in the waiting room was happy with their care and services rendered too. I have visited many pet ER facilities through my sixty + years of loving and caring for my doggies; Angell West exceeded in every aspect all my other encounters. Thank you so much.

Brittany Tuttle

I was very pleased with Dr. Terri Bright and Susan’s undivided attention to my dog, and I left feeling hopeful that he’ll get better. They emailed his behavior plan very promptly, and I was further put at ease by Susan letting me know I can email and call any time with questions. We were equipped with suggestions to get started on improving his behavior right away, and their existing relationship with our VCA vet is also reassuring.

Audrey Marino

The moment I walked in I knew this was the place for my dog. The gentleman who dealt with me and my husband was so nice and made us feel like our dog would be cared for as if it was their own. He had surgery and they informed us of everything and made us feel at ease. They took him for the weekend and the doctors actually updated us often on his behavior and surgery. We picked him up ready to take home and he was like he never had surgery. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends, family or even strangers! This place was amazing start to finish! Thank you for taking such care of our Pete and making him better!

Foxy Roxy

I can't say thank you enough for the Ophthalmologists Dr. Ken Abrams who saved my dog's eye. He had a scratch on his retina and with just 2 appointments and medication he was as good as new. The whole staff their is wonderful caring people looking out for the best for your pet. Even the Staffing in the Adoption area are the best. Very kind..I can't say enough about how wonderful they all are and the work as a team. Thank you all again. Maryanne & Petey too!

George

They saved my little girl. Clean. Amply staffed. Quick. Professional. A tight ship. They work with you and keep you informed on status, options, and most notably the cost. Now, they aren’t shy or coy about the cost, but are very honest. You may naturally find it too business-y when in the stressed state you may find yourself in, but they need to be frank and honest. In terms of cost, I can’t say how competitive or fair the fees are. I will simply say I’m a bad person to be judge since I would have cut off my own leg to save my sweet girl, which they did. I’m grateful to Angell. Since my dog is an idiot, we’ll probably see you around.

Ann Edmonds Haley

Cured my beloved mobility dog, a greyhound rescue named Happy. The absolute best place to take your pet!

Yamilet Gonzalez

This was the second admission for my pet in the past 2 yrs and both have been pleasant and wonderful, you guys are very thoughtful and caring. Thank you. The text updates and photos are awesome and so comforting.

DAVID MILTON

We brought in our pup Luigi in serious condition. Everyone was very professional and caring. They found out the cause of his ailment, started treatment and he is back to his normal self. When you need professional care this is the place to go.

Scott Harvey

Great vet with lots of specialists and emergency care. Dr. Koster (Optimology) was literally a sight and life saver. Prices can be a bit high and policies more rigid than typical neighborhood vet. Pharmacy is terrible, though. Took off 1 and 1/2 stars just for the poor pharmacy.

First time Ive ever used animal emergency service . Dog took a spill down 1.5 floors worth of stairs and broke his hind leg at the growth plate. Required surgery. Went to Blue Pearl in Waltham first via recommendation by vet. What a mistake. Wasted so much time making my dog suffer needlessly. My vet and blue pearl both failed to administer pain meds. So many reasons for my 5 star review. I'm not gonna lie, I panicked and couldnt find the entrance for some reason and I was at the rear of the building freaking out. Nice woman peering out the window saw and let me in through the back seeing me cradle a pup in my arms. THANK YOU, kind soul. As soon as I walked up to the emergency desk, she phoned staff and they took him off my hands to medicate for pain. Mind you, this was before I signed off on the paperwork. I appreciate the hell out of this. They treated it like an EMERGENCY, unlike my (former) vet and Blue Pearl emergency in Waltham. I've only had contact with Dr. Gates and she was terrific. All my questions were answered thoroughly and given all the information vital to get my buddy on the quickest road to full recovery. Update once with followups. Less important than the amazing care he received is the cost. Compared to Blue Pearl the surgery was 30% cheaper. I say this with the utmost gratitude for services but I hope to God I never have to visit another emergency room for my little buddy, but if I do, I assure you itll be MSPCA.

Helen Quach

The check-in process was fast and efficient. I felt like the staff were very warm and welcoming. I feel like my dog was in good hands once I stepped into the facility. I appreciate the thorough analysis of my dog's condition. Dr. Trout answered all of my questions in extreme detail and the follow up calls were appreciated.

First off the 'tech' that worked with Tobey initially was literally a dog whisperer. Tobey has been to plenty of vets and had numerous techs and vets give him exams, etc, and NONE of them were able to even use a stethoscope on him without him being muzzled. I warned her that he was a 'bad patient' and should be muzzled, but she would have none of that idea. She talked to Tobey like he was a person and basically negotiated a deal that every time she did something to him and he was a good boy, he'd get a treat. And, Yep, it worked. Your neurologist, Dr. Jennifer Michaels, is basically a saint in my book. She diagnosed him correctly even prior to his imaging, and then walked me through any and all options once we had the results of the MRI. I decided on surgery, because my Tobey has helped me through the roughest times in my life and I owed it to him to give him his life back. I will forever be in Dr Michaels debt. Everyone I dealt with at Angell was polite, compassionate and patient. I will recommend your hospital to everyone. Thank you and God bless you all. You're kind and compassionate both towards the animals and to their human parents. If only people doctors had half of those skills/traits the world would be a better place.

Lisa

Had to put my 18 year old cat to sleep (thyroid tumor) in October 2018. The vet was very caring and the journey over Rainbow Bridge was fast and quick without any pain. I now have to bring my other 18 year old cat (renal failure) in today and I'm so less stressed because I know how excellent the medical care is at Angell. I adopted both cats from Angell 14 years ago. Everyone should consider adoption first when looking for a fur baby and also do a monthly gift to Angell.

Amy Miller

The vet that saw my cat Timothy at Angell West (Dr. Hamilton) was great-- clearly explaining the issues and tests and eventually the surgery that was needed. She oversaw his transfer to the main Angell campus for surgery. While I didn't meet the surgeons, the surgery (cystotomy) went very well, and Timothy is recovering beautifully. Discharge instructions were clear, and when I had questions after taking him home, the vets on staff called back promptly and responded carefully to my questions. I appreciate the vets taking the time to explain the issues and the vet techs' going over the discharge instructions with me. I also appreciate everyone's understanding of one's deep attachment to one's animals.

Sonia Paz

I took my dog in for TPLO surgery and was very pleased with the process. Everyone person I interacted with was great and helpful. I really appreciated the updates from her care coordinator, definitely helped keep me calm during this stressful time. I love how friendly everyone is. From the minute I walk in, I am greeted with smiles and pets for my dog which she loves. I also love the option to get snacks and drinks for both humans and pets.

Jessica Page

My dog had surgery at Angell last month and I was very impressed with his care. They were very efficient and professional. I got updates via text on how my dog was doing, including pictures of him! They answered all my questions quickly and I felt that he was in good hands during his overnight stay. His surgeon Dr. Trout did a wonderful job, allowing for a quick recovery! Overall, very satisfied with Angell.

It makes me genuinely sick to my stomach that I'm even forced to give one star in order to leave a review. I brought my beautiful HEALTHY 5 year old bullmastiff here late on a Friday (which I was unaware nights and weekends are staffed by INEXPERIENCED INTERNS) She desperately needed IV fluids! (treated for diarrhea with antibiotics days prior) But paying the $155 exam fee before I could even get her on the stretcher was top priority to them! She was left in the ucc with NO IV FLUIDS to suffer while I was repeatedly told I needed to euthanize my FIVE YEAR OLD dog, without being given a reason WHY, because a necropsy would be the only way to find out what was wrong. No matter what I asked the answer was "her condition is grave" STILL couldn't tell me WHY. Asked for an ultra sound of her liver and kidney, and surprise! That couldn't be done til the following morning because there are no radiologist on staff at night at a TWENTY FOUR HOUR EMERGENCY CLINIC. Lab blood test, of course couldn't receive results for at least 1-3 business days again "24/7 ER" everything was about money even though we had $7,000 available on Care Credit! Once I was finally able to have "some" blood test done that would give immediate results I was told my dog had "extremely low" red blood cell count and a failing liver due to "cancer, hemangiosarcoma" so I had no choice other than to let her go. Only to find out days later after the damage was already done and my dog was gone that her liver WASN'T failing and red blood cell count was NEVER actually checked. Disgusted is an understatement! The only thing I want is the one thing I cant possibly have and thats my sweet furbaby back. But if this review can help another pet owner STAY FAR AWAY from this sad excuse for an emergency facility than I'm ok with that! In response to your response, I DID call back, twice. I was told the doctor who's call I was returning didn't respond to being paged for the call. Second time was no longer there. If i didn't sign consent to treat than why is it that Michelle Oranges instructed me to leave the exam room, go to the front desk and SIGN CONSENT so she could get started on the blood work? So I DID in fact sign consent. I was told I needed to sign consent to treat in order to do the blood work (which you see was done) along with the lepto snap. If I hadn't signed consent than how were those done? Lying is extremely unprofessional. As far as saying you were unable to diagnose her, YOU DID. Hemangiosarcoma. Yet that's conveniently not in the medical report which is why im sure you're clueless as to what happened that night. And unable to treat? Of course you were unable to treat her diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma, its untreatable. Whom ever responds to these reviews should at the very least know what they're talking about.

Such nice people.

We came to Angell as an emergency patient on Sunday night, because our dog had a bad reaction to a bee sting. I called first, and the woman on the phone was really nice and helpful in counseling me on if I should bring in our dog. The reception staff was wonderful when we got there and a technician came out right away to take our dog in the back for medication. Dr. Engel was super nice and looked our dog over carefully and listened to my explanation. Her advice was really helpful and we've been giving our dog the medication according to the doctor's recommendation and she's already much, much better. Thanks so much for your quick and empathetic care! We really appreciate it!

This review is to MSPCA neuter program. Firstly I'd appreciate the low cost surgery they were giving to this community, my kitten has recovered from the neutering surgery, However, I doubt if the staff who trims cats' nails is professional. Almost all nails of my cat has been cut too much, and I can see the blood on many of them. This is very unprofessional and I'd suggest you better not let them trimming your pets' nails. Again, thank you so much for the low cost surgery but you gotta be more professional.

I can’t say enough about how amazing the people at Angell are. My rabbit, my guinea pig, and I have all been treated with compassion and care every time we’ve been here. From the front desk staff to the people on the phone to the vet techs to the vets, everyone here truly loves animals and cares about seeing them well. They’ve saved my rabbit’s life an amazing five times. I can’t thank them enough.

Saved my birds life a few years ago. My ex left my little winged love unattended and she got into a Ding Dong. I drove home from work, grabbed my bird , and strait to the world's best Vets. They performed emergency Charcoal Poison Treatment and saved her from an early grave. I was absolutely distraught and they let me know she was in very good hands. A few hours later, we were on our way home with a recovering Avian. Fast forward to today, My bird and I are doing great, and we still go here for our annual wellness checks. Thank you Angel Memorial, Thanks for all you do..

Please please think twice before your pet here if your having an emergency. I would give no stars if it was an option. My poor friend had brought her dog here when they had left an emergency vet. Her dog was lethargic, not wanting to eat, and barely moving by the time they got here. Like any loving animal owner, she wanted to know what was happing to her dog who was fine days before. The “vet” (as we have now learned has mostly interns on nights and weekends) kept repeating themselves saying the situation is ‘very grave’. The first option the “vet” gave was to perform a necropsy (euthanasia then tests after death) to find out what was wrong before offering other tests or anything! She had brought up other options but kept repeating How ‘grave’ the dogs situation was. To any person, since the future of the dog was grave (not likely going to live in the next couple days with the other options), euthanasia outweighs the other options. Knowing her dog was in pain and euthanasia was probably the best option. She chose to put her dog down WITHOUT knowing what was even going on. The “vet” had ideas but nothing was proven. Please please think twice before your pet here if your having an emergency. She is now left so heartbroken and still so confused as to why this happened to her dog. Again please read all reviews! We want to save the lives of future dogs!

It gives us great peace of mind to know that whatever medical problem one of our pets might face, there is a specialist and state-of-the-art facilities right down the hall. Angell goes out of their way to make clients comfortable, with ample free parking; separate waiting areas for dogs, cats, and exotics; free coffee; and a vending area with tables and chairs. We love Angell. We cant imagine our pets' lives without them.

Never go here in case of an emergency. Right when we got in it was $150 up front or they wouldn’t even look at my rat who needed urgent care. I had to borrow money from someone because Angell said they could bill me but they’d only be able to look at her and do nothing else, what’s the point! After the doctor looked at my rat she said if we consented to having a team look at her for $60. You’re a doctor! Why do I need to pay that for a team to JUST look at her. She needed her teeth trimmed and it was $20 on top of the already $150. Thank god i got my rats antibiotics from the Vca in Weymouth for a reasonable price. I will never go to this hospital again because they clearly don’t care about the well being of your pet, they just want money.

Dr Erika de Papp was so on top of our poor doggie’s rare situation and got us a diagnosis within 24 hours of our admitting Shyla. This was after our local vet plus a referral hospital vet were unable to do so over a number of days. The staff an Angell were all wonderful too, we really loved getting the nightly pics of our pup with the little status updates by text. What a nice touch. It was incredibly sad to learn that Shyla’s cancer was otherwise addressable but located in a place where it could not be removed. But we are grateful how Erika handled everything and was responsive even up until our last day a few hours before we had to put Shyla down to make sure she got the full biopsy data to us, removing any doubt that we were doing the right thing for our fur baby. I would 100% recommend Angell. And I hope the symptoms our Shyla suffered and the eventual diagnosis (Erika said she had never seen this cancer in this particular location) can help diagnose and maybe one day treat other dogs with the same problems.

Dr. Casale and her whole team provided outstanding service during our recent visit to have a tumor biopsied. Dr. Casale spent a generous amount of time reviewing the CT scan with me and explaining the surgical procedure she had just performed. Good communication and reasonable fees. Thank you for such an excellent experience!

Very good place to take your pets. Clean and inviting environment. Staff cared very much for our pets well being and needs. Staff very knowledgeable and approachable.

Angell is a great place to bring you fur babies. Everyone we have dealt with are caring, calm, well informed. The nurse even got my dog to get on the scale which he hated! Dr Trout is the best too. He took his time looking over my dog's issues

Very bad behavior. Money money money. Playing with peoples emotions. $150.00 for the E.R. Then, $65.00 more to see a vet, and then any blood work, etc...would be extra still! We went in, we paid $150.00 for the emergency vet fee. We waited an hour, then they took us to another room, they wanted $65.00 for a "non-specialist Doctor" to act as a "liaison" between us and the specialist. Meanwhile, the specialist was right there in the back room. They had plenty of time to discuss cremation options, but not a second to even just look at my pet who had just passed. We just wanted to make sure that our other pet was okay. Both of these pets were already patients of record mind you, they have medical histories on file, which is supposed to make emergency visits more expedient. I found their actions and behavior to be very insincere, from the front desk to the meeting with the Vet. Very disappointing.

Every member of the staff that I interacted with were helpful, thoughtful, and understanding. This is the ONLY place I bring my pets. 5 stars!

Dr. Lindholm is my cat's cardiologist. If it weren't for her, we would have lost him months ago. We are extremely grateful for the wonderful and expert care she provides him and her approachable nature. The entire cardiology department is kind, patient, and helpful. If you have a cat, it makes a difference to find a cat friendly practice

Dr Sawyer is the best and the extended team is very helpful!

Very caring and thoughtful staff— Dr. Robillard was wonderful! I think Angell has a wonderful reputation for many of its veterinary services. Our visit specifically was for an after hours dog bite in the ER and we were grateful to be able to see a vet late on a Saturday night.

Everyone I encountered was incredibly lovely and kind. The emergency vet (whose name I'm so sorry I can't recall) who helped me decide what the next course of action would be in the treatment of my pet was above and beyond helpful and patient as I blubbed my way to the conclusion that humane euthanasia was the kindest option. She patiently listened through my tears and was so understanding and honest. I won't soon forget the experience as I felt heard and supported through a terrible ordeal. The absolute kindness of every staff member from the first phone call in to the final wave goodbye stands out, and makes this place so very special.

Although the prices are high I really appreciate that they accept Care Credit! Charges under $500 are 6 months no interest and charges over $500 are 12 months no interest. Dr. Sullivan and his vet tech were extremely personable and did a great job handling Mr. Bun despite him fighting every part of the exam. I appreciate your expertise in exotic animals and feel very comfortable trusting your doctors with my rabbit. I also appreciate how much work you do to find homes for abandoned rabbits.

I came in with an emergency case and from the time we were seen to after the surgery the things that I appreciated the most and what I think your team does best is care explaining the all the options, good and bad, and communication through the animals care. I was further impressed by the communication of status and interaction all members of my animals team, from front desk care services to the treating doctors. I live far and was not able to come in for all visiting hours but the team made sure I received updates and pictures throughout his care and surgery. After surgery I was called by the doctors for the download of how the surgery went and what I needed to do for care in the coming weeks. This level of communication and care for the animals keeps me traveling the distance to get care from your hospital. The care team truly love what they do and this is evident in all they do. Greatly appreciate all that the team does. Thank you!

Maggie Sherrill

Very caring and attentive staff. Easy check in and efficient triage. Nice facility. Long(ish) wait on a Saturday afternoon for a cat emergency, but they were very transparent about it. Will definitely return for any other issues.

Avoid this place if possible. our cat wasn’t eating or drinking water and had high fever. after two days spent as inpatient, blood tests, x-ray and ultrasound, they have no clue what is wrong with him. in addition to the stress caused to our cat spending two days alone while no progress was made, we paid $1900 for nothing. zero diagnostic skills, poor customer relations. edit: I did call and ended up talking to 4 different people. No adjustments were made to the bill. Please don't pretend to care for your patients while you clearly don't.

Catherine Vasquez

Good hospital with all the equipment and specialties that you would need for your pet. The staff is nice and the doctors are really good. Procedures and tests can be pricey but that seems to be norm. They are good at letting you know how much it can go up to before.

Three days after I brought my kitten home, she collapsed. I immediately brought little Gus to Angell and the staff immediately took her to be evaluated. Even though I was then told that she probably wouldn’t make it through the night, they promised to do everything they could for Gus and to keep me updated throughout the whole ordeal. Long story short, she made it through the night and is now 11 months old. She is spunky, cuddly and the most hilarious pet I could ever have asked for. Without Angell, she would not be alive and I would not have my buddy.

The work and attention that Dr. Bartling and the team did towards Peeta was outstanding. Greatly appreciate how they went above and beyond to make sure Peeta was well taken care of, as well as helping us financially. Excellent customer service and make sure pets feel safe

Lea Norton

Excellent experiences, caring doctors who listen and address your concerns- great follow up, and a clean welcoming environment !

My dog was in and out of this facility with a cancer diagnosis recently. The doctors are very well educated and very knowledgeable. The customer service and care assistants are very kind. My issue is that if you don't "agree" with the doctor or go "along" with their recommended treatment of your pet you become person non-gratis. In the beginning they are very attentive and they answer your questions. When the cancer reoccurred they "disappeared with my pet" and came back and told me the cancer was back and they can remove his leg the next day; mind you this was after 2 surgeries and 18 radiation treatments. This was a little much for me, and I started asking about CT scans and x-rays to help with the cancer diagnosis. This is when the "chill" started. The oncology team referred me to the social/care management team. They were nice, said all the right things, but they are not in my shoes and after the initial fluff they disappeared. Oncology finally heard me say x-ray and scheduled him for a Friday afternoon. The doctor was there but chose to call me instead of speaking to me in person and again said he was good for his surgery on the following Tuesday (that I never consented to) all of this left on my answering machine. I'm still upset she could not seek me out and talk to me in person. This is when I honestly started to believe the doctors don't want to talk to the pet parents in person. The Tuesday surgery was cancelled. There was one doctor who actually listened to me after my continued requests for a CT scan and x-rays. He took the time to explain all options for my pet. He listened to me when I asked about a CT Scan. He understood that I did not want to subject my pet to any more intubation/anesthesia, surgery if it was not going to get him to a better place. He is a Godsend to me, and I will always tell people to find him. My dog was a dish rag when I picked him up after the CT scan. He could not walk, and I did not get any offer of help getting him to my car, so he peed all the way out the door and I never told anyone. He could not eat for days due to the intubation (I assume). We've been back to my primary care vet and we are managing him as best we can. It's good facility but I felt like I was in a big business factory. The billing team could not even get it right when it came to settling the balance for the radiation treatment. They kept contacting me, when in fact they needed to contact my insurance company. When my insurance company paid me I lost it. The billing team told me that was my fault, when in fact it was their fault, they neglected to tell my insurance company to pay them. I've managed money for years and I would have been fired for such carelessness. Again, good place but it's a factory. If you go here keep your eyes wide open and make sure you get the answers you need. A doctor's profession is to "practice" medicine, so be cautious when they are practicing on your fur babies and ask questions, your fur babies depend on you.

This place is great! The staff is very caring for every single person and pet that comes through the doors. They have emergency vets available, and a pharmacy right inside the main lobby area. There are separate waiting areas for dogs and cats with treats available to keep your pet a little less stressed out from being sick or in need of a regular vet visit. You can also adopt pets directly from here, which is a good way to give the pet a nice home and it will help fund all the things that they do here. The vets follow up with you about your pets, and every person who works there is very friendly. Your pet will get good care here.

Good place to go when you are worried about your furry friend.

Excellent!! My dog had a surgery, entire team did great!!!! I was impressed by the quality of the service and how caring people were. I am 8 month pregnant, our wonderful sergeant was able to schedule the surgery 3 days later after we found out what was wrong with my dog. It gave us time for recovery and rehab before baby comes. Now we are going to the Angell rehab center in Waltham to make sure that my dog will walk again. Thank you so much and God bless you!

We have been going to Angell for a very long time. Dr. Kaye is great with our animals and very patient with our very nervous dog. His vet tech (I'm sorry I do not remember her name) also was great and gentle with our animals making it a painless experience for us. I feel like I am getting world class care and all the staff is friendly and genuinely cares about animals. Our cat was very sick a couple years back and Angell offered to do a surgery that they had never done before at Angell (subcutaneous ureteral bypass). I appreciated that they were willing to try anything to save my pet! Several years later, he's happy and healthy!

We got super happy to see her in a big space, where we could even get in and seat with her. It was something that made me feel she was being taken care of with love! :) Everyone was nice and happy, which makes a huge difference. The kindness from everyone meant a lot in a hard moment! I was relieved to see Lucky being ok with all the doctors and staff - she usually gets nervous and everyone was able to make her trust them.

Lida Mongeau

brought my cat for a spaying and a micro chip..the staff there were so friendly and knowledgeable I would highly recommend them to anyone my baby was back to herself the next day..they took such great care of her

The care my dog Milo has received has been amazing. The doctors and staff have made us all feel so comfortable. They’ve taken the time to explain everything to us and care for him like he is their own. The texts during his cancer treatments help us feel connected to him as he undergoes treatments. Just a great place with great staff!
