Great doctor for your fur baby

I simply can't give a high rating for this facility due to their exorbitant prices and outrageous and unprofessional behavior of one of their vets! A simple check of a cat that may have a scratch on his eye (there was no scratch fortunately) ended up costing $258. The exam was thorough, the staff pleasant, but at no time did anyone privide information about the charges: No info whatsoever about the cost of the vet check, test for ear mites (kitten has found to have a mild ear infection); a single drop of dye to see if there was a scratch on his eye (that single drop represents 20% of the bill), and 2 medications. The worst was the behaviour of the vet when she heard our sticker shock when the receptionist told us how much the 30 minute visit cost. She charged the reception desk as though we had done something wrong. We simply asked (kindly, with obvious confusion) how the bill could be so much and why no one had advised us of any prices - including how much it was for just an office visit. The vet proceeded to inform us that they couldn't possibly know in advance what was wrong (what a stupid thing to say) and how their prices are based on the area, and how much better their service is compared to the other vets in the area. She was as unprofessional and rude during her verbal berating as she was kind and professional during the office visit. Needless to say, the follow-up vet visit was immediately cancelled (as was an appointment for another pet) and Precious Paws has lost 2 customers. There are other very good vets in the area who will get our business in the future.

I had an appointment at 11am today, waited patiently until 11:45 then asked what the expected wait time was for my dog. They did not know all they said was they were busy. Even people who came in way after us had been seen. I did not understand why there was no time they could give us, also when we arrived they told us it would only be a couple minutes. Now I wasted my time, gas money driving here and the issue with my dog was not looked at. I was given no apology either. The staff did not even seem to know what was going on. For my first time coming here it was a terrible experience.

We have been using Ocean City Animal Hospital for years - and we have only the highest regard for the staff and service they provide. Having 4 dogs can be a daunting task to visit the vet - but it always goes smoothly - each dog is given the "loving touch" - of a genuinely loving group of people. Care is dispensed always with the dog and human's best interests considered. Questions are answered, and re-answered until you are satisfied. You never fear asking any question - these folks are there for you and your pets! They now have a wonderful club you can enjoy - that allows you to earn points to apply to later costs for care! Making it so much easier when something unexpected comes up. I highly recommend Ocean City Animal Hospital.

Can I give less than 1 star? We had an emergency and called several times while they were open and left messages, but never got an answer or call back. We drove all the way home to be told if we had caught it sooner. We had to put our dog down. We reached out for help in a scary and heartbreaking time and the staff clearly did not care. I hope they sleep well knowing her blood is on their hands. Their job is to help animals in need but I guess that’s just talk.

I found a kitten near death in my yard one summer late night, my daughter bottle fed that kitten formula every 2 hours and kept her warm in her shirt all night until I was able to get her to vet in am. The kitten was put in IV immediately for she was dehydrated and scared. The vet took personal care of her for many weeks until she was able to eat on her own, walk and be a kitten again. My son and I check on Cali Lilly for several weeks. She came home a healthy living kitten thanks to the vet and her team. See pic on facebook of Cali Lilly Story. Best Team Ever...

Our little Mini Pin was diagnosed with diabetes and had to be put on a special prescription diet. We called Precious paws Animal Hospital (5 minutes away) in Ocean City, they would only fill our prescription from Olney Sandy Springs Veterinary Hospital if the doctor saw Bella, the cost of a doctor's examination and visit probably around $340. They were all about the money, they told us it was illegal for them to fill a prescription without first examining the dog. I called several more veterinarian hospitals in the area all had no problem filling the prescription. Ended up going to Berlin Animal Hospital (30 minutes away) they were awesome, couldn't do enough for us, $26 later had plenty of food for the Bella. Save at least $350. Talked to several people that said Precious Paws tries to gouge out of town people because they know they are the only vet in Ocean City.

Since I moved to Ocean City six years ago, I have taken both my dogs to OC Animal Hospital for all their needs and I still find this place wonderful and the best place to take your pets to keep them in the best of health.

They are the best. My puppy, Molly Rose, had been sick all morning. Her regular vet is back home, so I started calling around. No one could see her till the next day. When I called here they fit me in and took such wonderful care of her. Dr. Flood is fantastic, Molly was even giving her kisses. Thank God it was not very serious. Thank you so much. Even though there are 2 other vets closer, I will continue to come here. I highly recommend them.

Another reviewer described the rates here as 'exorbitant' and I agree with that assessment. Over the phone I was quoted $55 for acupuncture treatments but I was charged $97. No explanation was provided for the discrepancy. None. Whatsoever.

My English Springer Spaniel is 11 years old. She started getting sick Saturday afternoon. Sunday we took her to Pet ER. Although they helped, there was no official diagnosis. Polly was feeling worse Monday. She would not eat, could not walk, and was minimally responsive. We were sure we would have to put her down. We took her to Precious Paws Monday morning. Dr. Flood and her staff cared for her all day long. Polly was given an IV and a stronger antibiotic after a diagnosis was made. Throughout the day, we were given updates of her progress. When we picked her up at 5 pm she was responsive, walking, eating, and so much better! Clear written instructions were given to take care of her. The difference in one day was miraculous!

I needed an urgent appointment for my dog who suffers from allergies. She is tormented with non-stop itchy ears and paws. I had noticed the OC Vet many times while driving by, so I called. They were able to see my dog, as a new patient, on short notice. But more importantly, Dr. O, as I will call her, was very knowledgeable and had answers. She communicated to me well and was very gentle with my sick little pup as she did a thorough well-dog check. We didn't have to wait long and were out the door with the right meds quickly. My dog is feeling so much better now. Her tail is up and wagging and she is busy looking for little critters in the back yard again. Many thanks to the Ocean City Veterinarian Hospital for giving us both much needed relief and peaceful sleep.

I'm very pleased with Ocean City Animal Hospital. They are very accommodating with appointments, and all of the veterinarians that we have seen have been wonderful. I take my kitty there, too, for her thyroid, and also have taken her for a skin condition -- after using the prescription medications her condition cleared within a few days thankfully. The technicians are very kind and you can see they love animals. I have two very large dogs that drool a lot and they don't mind at all, lol. They even give my dogs kisses. I guess with all the attention that's why my pups actually look forward to going to the vets!

The staff was so attentive when I took my 15 month Shellie in for an emergency. The gals at the desk saw that my Finley was struggling and got us a technician to wait with us for Dr. Flood. Dr. Flood did an extensive exam. Thankfully with some meds and rest, our Finley is back to normal. A huge shoutout to each of you!

I just moved to the area and unexpectedly had to take my puppy to be seen. They were able to accommodate quickly. Staff was amazing and really took the time to get to know my puppy, and worked with her slowly to ensure her comfort. Only downfall was the wait, but I assume it is due to the time and attention they provide to each animal they see, so not a big deal, just something to be aware of if you have plans directly after.
