DO NOT GO HERE! Never in my life have I experienced a vet as rude, condescending, and lacking compassion as Laura D'Aurora DVM the doctor who saw my dog. We spent an hour here just for them to look at my dog and say nothing is wrong but if i wanna pay a few hundred for more test they can look harder. They didn't explain any of the tests or what could possibly be wrong with my dog that required these tests. The second Laura walked in she asked me with a snarky voice if i was recording her I told her no I'm on face time with my husband and she rudely responded "So you are recording me" and rolled her eyes. I was not recording her the camera was facing me not her and I just wanted my husband to hear what was wrong with our dog. Then when I asked what it could be she responded condescendingly saying it's too vague and she didn't know. She didn't even give me possibilities. She was so clueless; it's like she never went to school for this. she made it clear she didn't care and didn't want to help. Then when I was trying to leave they made me wait forever. I said let me pay now or send a bill they said no you have to wait. I waited but I was disgusted. After being disrespected and having my time wasted I will never go back. Go to any other vet they will treat you better.

Reading the reviews first, I was a bit worried about bringing my sick dog to this hospital. But to let all of you know that are reading this, this Pet ER is fantastic. They’re upfront about everything and showed the utmost care and compassion. I had to hospitalize my sweet girl due to a stroke but ultimately there was no saving her. Without going into detail, the process was comforting and the vets & staff have empathy, compassion and were professional. Yes it was expensive, yes there was a critical emergency that came in after me that resulted in longer wait time initially. But that’s standard hospital practice no matter where you go and I would hope in the face of a life or death situation in an ER, that patient would take precedent. My dog was stable at the time. I feel bad that others in their reviews experienced otherwise, but I experienced none of the issues they expressed here. I have other animals at home and wouldn’t hesitate one moment to take them there.

They wrote a prescription for my cat that CVS could not fill because it omitted some info, then refused to talk with me for two days. Had to go to another vet to get prescription rewritten. Not good for emergencies or when care is needed quickly. Not recommended.

Paul Markakis

Yesterday I brought my cat in with unexpected respiratory issues, and the end result was euthanasia. The staff was incredibly supportive, both in keeping me informed throughout the process and in making it easier for me to handle the passing of my cat. I'm so appreciative of everyone here and what they did for me.

So glad this place exists.

Great immediate service and reasonable price considering an emergency care center. All staff are very courteous and provide great service.

Jason Mastropaolo

Waited for about three hours in a room staring at the walls. Yes they're friendly, by the wait is ridicolious and over priced. I was told one prive by the vet tech and then charge a different price upon check out. It's only about the money!!!

SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN! This place is AWEFUL, they KILLED MY DOG! All they talk about is money , I was here for 3 hours and they do not try to help your pet. Please read the other reviews, I wish I would have and maybe my dog would be here today and I would not have a 1,500 bill! Dr Snyder is aweful and lie to you so you can keep adding services and keep the bill getting higher! PLEASE IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, I do not want you to go through the pain me and my family went through. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY NOT YOUR PET! Please please go somewhere else and DO NOT leave your pet with them even if it is an emergency, save your pet and keep yourself from pain in your heart and a BIG bill. They should be SHUT DOWN FOR WHAT THEY DO TO PETS! IT IS A CRIME!

I took my dog here to the ER at 830pm on a Tuesday. I called ahead to let them know I was coming because my boy didn't get along with other dogs. The sweet man who answered made sure we had no encounters with another dog, he met us in the parking lot and helped us into a room. He offered me something to drink. A tech came in right away and gor some vitals and background. The vet didn't take to long to come in to see us. Everything she was going to do was discussed with me including the cost. Unfortunately what she found was life altering. The vet didn't try to give me any B.S or push me to do expensive treatments which would make my boy suffer and prolong the inevitable. I asked for some time so my family to get there. They took me into a bigger room, laid down some blankets for my boys comfort, gave me water and boxes of tissues. They brought my family in and gave us the time we needed to say goodbye. They didn't rush or try to hurry us through the process. The staff had genuine compassion and understanding. I appreciate everything they did during my devastating loss. As for the cost, the Pet ER was slightly more expensive then when I had my boy at his regular vet 2 weeks prior for a yearly exam. The cremation was less expensive here also. When his remains were returned to me they were in a lovely box. I also received a name plate, his paw print and verification of cremation certificate.

Was helpful when our kitten had a infected eye. Was off hours so our normal vet was not able to see him. Great alternative for off hours and weekends

I LOVE this practice! Beautiful, serene facility with emergency service. Dr. Kramer is fantastic and clearly knows her medicine. The suppprt staff are gentle and caring. I brought my 4 month old puppy here after possibly eating grapes. They saw him as quickly as they could, and treated him with meds to make him vomit. Great news! No grapes! We now know that little King Kaepervick is an anteater, though. And we thought he was a shepherd-husky-Lab-pit mix!

I would give this place negative stars if I could. Sunday, I brought my cat to the office. I got Dr Kramer (brand new, just finished residency). Not only did she ignore everything I've said about his symptoms, she misdiagnosed him and GAVE HIM MEDICATION THAT MADE HIS ACTUAL CONDITION WORSE, not to mention what was wrong with him was TEXTBOOK, meaning she should have been able to diagnose it. I go in again 2 days later because my cats not any better and I get another vet (that listened and actually looked at the blood work and X-rays). She diagnoses him fairly correctly but told me I had to keep him there over night to then transfer him to the Towson office for an ultrasound for a definitive answer. Not only could my cat have been transferred that day instead of the next morning, he could have gotten a definitive diagnoses, treated, and save me yet another $1000. They also lied to me and said he would only be there for an ultrasound, NOT for $2000 worth of hospitalization plus the ultrasound. Lets hope Columbia didn't kill my cat. You already wasted $2000, over 8 hours of my time, and my cats health. Conclusion, never EVER use Kramer. Go somewhere else if she's on call or just in general. Expect ridiculous wait times and prices. Front desk people are very nice and the second vet was good (except for not telling me to transfer asap instead of after 12 hours). I will only ever use this office again if my cats need immediate attention since I'm 5 minutes away. Otherwise, I'll go anywhere else.

Amazing, understanding staff, wonderful facility.

It took a long time to get everything done that our kitten needed, but the staff was very kind and sensitive to the stress that sick pets can levy. When the doctor (who had been there all day and then some) came in, we felt like we were their only client. They suggested methods for defraying the costs of additional testing that ended up working out for us.

Hilary Mitchell

Compassionate and Caring place! Thank you! Thank you for not rushing us and for answering all of our questions. It would be nice if you all had a payment plan.

So we brought our dog in 9-1 at midnight because he was constantly throwing up and we suspected that he ate the top off a rubber bone. We were discharged shortly at 2am after paying over $500 for what we were told was going to be a 3-view X-ray and visit. They went and did another view without telling us that there would be an additional cost. We were then instructed that the radiologist you view the films and get back to us in the morning. This NEVER happened. No one ever contacted us even when we called in the next morning and they didn’t have a report for us. We wound up having to take our dog to another ER which did emergency surgery to remove the foreign body out of his small intestine on Sunday. I went back the Pet ER on Tuesday after the holiday to get the report and find out why we were never contacted.....they still didn’t have a report uploaded to give us. Talk about a complete disregard for our animal’s health and just giving us lip service to get us out the door. I still can’t get over when we called in the morning following our night visit and they told me they didn’t see anything yet they had no radiologist report to go off of.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I took my Pitbull terrier here a couple months back, was there for over 2 hours, my dog was diagnosed with a upper respiratory infection. I shelled out about $600. Well as of today my Pitbull Ghost is dead, comes to find out that he had poison in his blood stream that the Pet Er never detected, I don’t recommend this place they killed my dog basically and made me pay $600 for it. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

I took my dog to the Pet+ER on Saturday and was really disappointed. My boy was lethargic and hadn't been eating well and we thought it might be related to a growth on his face(they said it wasn't ). At first the nurse/staff checked him out and then she called the vet and she came in with a machine to check his heart (without informing us of cost). Everything was well. Then they said that he seemed nauseous and wouldn't be able to tell more without an x-ray which cost almost double what it would be at his vet. The vet said she would give us time to think. Another staff took us to another room and after more than an hour of waiting my daughter and I each went to ask at the front what was going on. 20 minutes later the vet came in saying there was a miscommunication and thought we had left. We were discharged and was surprised to see the total since we were not told how much the heart scan would cost. Later that evening my boy got worst and I was not taking him back. So I took him somewhere else and after checking him, they suggested to get blood work first. Come to find out he is mildly anemic, has an infection and possibly inflammation. He isn't himself yet but at least we know what's going on and is being treated for it. Such a waste of our money. Really disappointed with Pet+ E R. The star if for the front staff, very nice

Do not take your animal here. I just sat in a room for over an hour. We were the only people there and were not seen by a vet. Go somewhere else.

Absolutely incredible service. The attention to my dog was unbelievable. I highly recommend them.

My dog’s issues started at 4am, and I was thoroughly exhausted and worried all morning. Jerry was at the reception desk and was so wonderful. He was helpful, informative and very caring. I waited there for many hours and witnessed him handle people with care on the phone, clean, help the other pet parents and even make coffee for one. His attitude and professionalism should be acknowledged. He really made the mood better for all, and juggled his work masterfully.

Just brought Penny back. Dr Kramer and Dr. Snyder saved her life! She had HGE. Dr Kramer was going to treat her as an outpatient. After the blood work, Dr Kramer found her red blood cell was higher than 65%, and decided to keep Penny for a day or two. The price was very transparent. I ACTUALLY really like the way Doctor explained to me costs of different options, and risks. I visited Penny many times, and everyone was helpful, and nice. It is extra work for nurses to prepare a visit. Dr. Kramer even allowed me to take her home one night early, because we really miss her! She fell asleep as soon as she gets home. The receptionists were great! Jerry (?) And another girl (day) trully love animals. They were nice and warm. As far as the cost, ER doesnt get lots of business, and it should be more expensive. I compared the cost of XRAY, it is similar to her vet cost. I already recommended to everyone I know. Hope we won't need to see Dr. Kramer and Dr. Snyder in years. :) Really appreciate they saved our little girl!

Saved our pup's life. Despite having multiple admissions when we arrived, our dog was triaged and examined right away. We felt well informed, were given multiple opportunities to ask questions and visit with our dog before we left him overnight in the care of the attentive staff. Even with a dog with multiple complications I felt safe leaving him in their care. Our dog stayed for 3 nights and we had nothing but positive experience the entire stay. Thank you especially to Dr. Lauterstein and Dr. Keats for taking such amazing care of our Kingston boy.

I can't begin to tell you how much I love this place. This is the second time we've had to go to them and both times the staff have been so amazing. They are very up front with their pricing and give you all options available. Some might see this as trying to get more money, but I would be livid if all of my options weren't put on the table to save someone so dear to my heart. Everyone is so very sweet and professional. My cats have had to stay overnight both times and they regularly check in with you which means so so much. They care about your pet as much as you do and it shows. I can't recommend this place enough. If they had normal vet services, they would be my primary vet hands down! Thanks Pet+E.R. Columbia, you guys rock and thanks for taking such great care of my kitties as well as my stress factor when they are in your care!

Just as other's have said STAY AWAY! This place only cares about how much money they can make off of you. We were referred from the er clinic in Ellicott City for my dog to be observed overnight for a seizure and to be given fluids. The doctor in Ellicott City told us, the Pet ER wants you to know before you go that it is going to be between $4000-$6000. What? They have not even seen us yet! When we finally meet Dr. D'Aurora she became condescending and rude when I told her that I would be taking my dog to our vet in the morning and not using the vet connected with them. The front desk staff is polite as was Kim the tech. My dog is doing great under the care of Dr. Dan Negola for a fraction of the cost and I know she is being taken care of by people who love animals, not just the money!

Patrick Harvey

Very helpful when we needed it!

Brenda Guardala

Wonderful experience. Dr. O'Keefe is so compassionate and very detailed with her exam of my dog's sudden eye problem. She also took the time with me to go over what was wrong without being rushed. The staff was professional.

Reluctant Reviewer

Unethical. Requested complete upfront payment (thousands of dollars) prior to even establishing the course of treatment. Then proposed a treatment plan prior to conducting a single X-ray. Told different stakeholders conflicting messages about the treatments eventually administered. Did not communicate with referring vet as is standard practice. Take your pet to an ethical practice and avoid falling victim to this scam.

Robert Holland

My cat had cancer, I found that out at an ultrasound here. I knew she was near the end, but not why. They were compassionate, and very capable. They found out why she was hurting, and petted her because they love cats.

I have mixed feelings about this Pet ER. I have experienced the lack of communication between staff and patient thru the ER division. Once moved to the surgical department communication was great and the service my animal received was excellent. Yet although they provide excellent medical service, some of the staff lack in the customer service department. Being in Office managment for 35 years in the medical/ dental profession, I understand the importance of maintaining a schedule. But the one thing we always provided was extreme customer service for the working patient. At this location they seem to have forgotten, we as patients/ clients are dishing out hundreds if not thousands in order to provide care for our family pet. We should be treated as such and not like a number in a deli line or the annoying next door neighbor. Where I reside we treat everyone as though they are a millionaire because the money they have paid ( which is as much as paid there) feels like a million. If this location was to improve on that, it would be a 5 star. But until everyone there realizes that it is their profession and not just a job will it improve. My compliments to the surgical team and Head nurse, we are forever grateful It's just sad that you are overshawdowed by the above.

Aria Callahan

This place is awful! They just want money! No kind of compassion. Definitely not animal wellness advocates. More like money advocates. They are grossly over priced! There should be some committee to moniter how much they can charge. For x rays and blood work.

Michael Woolverton

Very complete exam and recommended a cautious and step-wise approach to treatment.

I took my dog to the this place for the first time on this past Wednesday. The staff were wonderful!!! I was informed several options, including to put my dog to sleep, and I went back on Friday with my family to say goodbye to Neemo. The vet and the whole staff were very attentive throughout the process. A small gesture, such as providing extra blankets and chairs, meant so much for us. The vet was sitting with us even after she delivered the injection. It meant a lot for us to see the vet sat on the floor because she was not only performing her responsibility, but also showing her compassion and respect to our dog. From our family, we thank all of you for all the caring gestures.

I was going to give a neutral review, but changed my mind. While the place is new, nice looking; and the staff are very friendly and nice....it does not outweigh the bad. I was here for over 4hrs and my cat hadn’t had a single test run. I realize in triage more important cases go first, but if tests aren’t run, how can order be determined?!? To wait 4hrs for one test is unacceptable - anything could have happened in that time span. People need to beware of these bad reviews because they all are similar!! This place does nickel-and-dime you to death...and it’s on PURPOSE. I informed this ER that my cat was NOT friendly. He was shaking scared upon arrival and had urinated himself. I told them that he would not do well if I was not present for handling and vitals. This is where it is all about money. You tell them this but they act like they know something you don’t!! It is a CAT!! Most cats are not friendly!! So why would they not listen to the owner?? I could have saved time and money if I was listened too. Also beware of the scam if sedation is needed. They will give low dosages so they have to give them again - they get paid by injection!! They gave my cat .29ml....then .01 because .29 wasn’t enough, but that extra .01 was........ Then as if they didn’t recognize that he doesn’t do well at that dose, when he needed it again, oh gee, let me do another low dose so I have to do a second. TWO extra charges for injections that were unnecessary. Each time they run a test, they recharge. Blood work to initially test for an issue - charge. Blood work to reexamine as part of triage care - charge. Blood work to ensure resolution - charge. Oh yeah, there is also the examination fee, which is separate from the hospital admittance fee, which is also separate from the hospitalization fee... They prey on pet owners who want to see their love one(s) better. It’s sad because I was forced to use them since my regular office was closed on a Sunday. I would not have paid half of this at my vets office and still have a sick cat!! I took him there and paid for him to basically stay the night. I still don't know whats wrong with him and he is STILL sick. They are supposed to send your vet a copy of the x-rays and medical notes. My vet got a fax from half of his treatment. She never even received the x-rays. I believe my negative post, and questioning their charges at checkout diminished what they are responsible to do. If my cat dies because this place was negligent in their diagnosis, discharge, or timely and accurate data to my vet, a lawsuit will be filed. They can have you sign all the forms they want. STAY AWAY!

Jake Everhart

Fantastic top of the line care for your furry family member. This place is the gold standard in Veterinary Care- like the Johns Hopkins of Animal Hospital’s. Definitely the place to go for an emergency or urgent care. They are top notch and even called to check on my dog the next morning to see how he was doing. My own family doctor doesn’t even do that! Definitely recommend this place.

Wonderful care from the Internal Medicine department here. Saved my kitty kat's life.

The staff here is extremely friendly! We had to say goodbye to a loved one and the entire process could not have been handled more kindly. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. Also they keep it very clean! A couple days later we got a loving card from them that meant the world during such a difficult time. Thank you so much!

Pet+ER in Columbia is wonderful. We had to take our sick kitty. All the staff were absolutely great - very friendly and compassionate and very skilled. They quickly identified the problem and began treatment which saved our kitty. The skills of the doctors and staff are outstanding and they really do care about the patients in their care. Highest recommendations. Thank You Pet+ER!

My cat has never met anyone that he didn't like (including his vet whom he has seen several times for vaccinations, surgery, blood work, etc) until our trip here. Upon arrival my cat was perfectly happy but when the nurse brought him back from having his vitals checked he was quite angry (again, very unusual for my cat). I spent 3 hours (6:20pm - 9:20pm) here just to have my cat's blood drawn: 1 hour waiting to be seen by the vet, 1 hour waiting to have the blood drawn by a nurse, 20 min waiting for the results, and 40 min waiting for the discharge paperwork. It took them multiple attempts to draw blood from my cat, leaving him with bandages on each foot, and I heard him screaming the entire time they tried to draw his blood from inside the clinic room. The vet was a very nice gentleman but I am dissatisfied by the rest of my experience here.

Amazing people working there. Never have been treated so nicely. They took care of us as much as our cat. I dont think my own doctor has this personal touch like they have here.

I can't say thank you enough for the support of the staff while having to make "the hard decision". They continued to check in on us and made a bad situation as best as it could be. Thank you for being there for us! They are amazing!!!

Courteous, Kind and Caring is the only way to describe my experience. Peaceful passing for our dog Chip. Thank you

This place and the staff are awesome. They are very caring and very knowledgeable. I had to put my cat down and they were all so compassionate. The place is spotlessly clean!

Megan Levy

We took our dog here who was extremely dehydrated and sick, and the staff went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable. They sat down with us to discuss our different options and assist us with making the decision on which would be the best one for her specific needs. They have also made two follow-up calls to check on her after we left. We were fortunate enough to not have to hospitalize our dog, but had we, the cost was surprisingly less than I would have expected. Overall, it was just a very positive experience in a very stressful and difficult time. I would, and have, recommended the Pet ER to anyone who ever needs urgent care for their pet!!

George Frazee

This place is all about collecting as much $ as possible when your pet is sick!

Tech removed my dogs stitches, wound opened up within few hours. Afraid we immediately took her back to Pet-Er. The tech was dismissive and would not do anything to correct his error. We were asked to pay another visit to now use staples, or to take her home and cage her for two more weeks and it "should" heal. Very disappointed we put our trust in these people. I don't feel they do their due diligence in complete care.

William Camacho

They were fast and helped my dog. I felt comfortable that my dog was in their hands.

One of the worst experiences in my life! Our beloved "child" had chronic diarrhea after major intestinal surgery in November 2017. Our local CARE Emergency is worthless and greed is their only motive also. PC Vet could NOT stop diarrhea. Dr Snyder saw Lily. She was very nice and did initial triosh on Lily. Next step was to leave her ovenight while Critical Care Director,Dr Kramer analyzed her. Received call the next day stating that Lily's Irritable Bowel Disease was not being controlled. Next step was a consult with Stage 2 of a 3 stage practice, Internal Medicine. Received a call the next day stating that Gall Bladder had to be removed and Dr Kramer had set up time and have surgeon call us prior to surgery. Next day not a word!!! Wife called to see what was going on. No one knew! Surgeon called and stated he knew nothing about any scheduled surgery and the notes left by last attending vet, Dr Kramer were terrible and he was never consulted! He stated that Gall Bladder did NOT have to be removed. Dr Kramer lies and the practice is disingenuous at best. Denies everything she told us! His attitude was rude and condescending! Wanted to know why we came to CARE-ER since we did not live in Columbia. Then profiled our financial history to see if we could pay for all the forthcoming work that may have to be done. Did not realize that we had to be rich and from Howard County to have our "child be seen". Dr. A' called and gave us a totally different story that the previous 3 Critical Care vets did. Dr Kramer then called to deny that she said anuything about surgery, having a meeting concerning Lily's care and that she even called the previous night for PERMISSION to operate on Lily the next day. We ended up paying over $3000+ for just an IV. Totally disgusted with the lack of care and concern from this facility! It is all about money. Pay to play! Look out! If you "child" does not have an "assembly line" illness, the "machine gun approach" to finding the cause is how they operate! Gotta hit something with the spray of analysis! Or maybe not! Senior citizens on a fixed income look out! Just shameful attitude and care. They did NOT do a thing to stop the diarrhea. Lily passed away a week later.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS ER! I had two horrible experiences with this so-called emergency clinic. Once I took my cat for an exam, and the doctor called me on the phone...on the phone...to tell me my cat had cancer. It was no big deal to the Dr. that I loved this cat so very much. When I went to pick him up, they made me wait over two hours to see him, and comfort him...he was in his carrier the entire time! Recently I took another cat for a bite wound. I sat in the waiting room...3 hours while the 4 receptionists were laughing it up behind the counter. The vet never saw my cat, and today because of their callousness, I had to put him to sleep. This is a place not for healing, but for the exact opposite.

Felicia Haggerty

I brought my dog to Pet ER in Columbia in the middle of the night and was taken well care of. The staff was great and the doctor was kind, caring, patient, and knowledgable. I called ahead that I was coming and they were ready for us - we spent about three hours there in total. One slight drawback for me was that the tech smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and it overwhelmed the exam room when she came in. But not enough of a drawback to dock them a star ... she was still doing her job. :)

Kelly Hiden

Every single staff member that we spoke to was super friendly. The receptionists and doctors were incredibly kind and made sure my pet and myself were comfortable for the duration of our visit. We will highly recommend this place to friends and family.

Taking your pet to an emergency clinic is never a wonderful experience but we left there having that experience. They were welcoming, friendly and truly caring about our pet. Emergency clinics in my past experience are usually very expensive and I felt this was right in line with my normal vet's fees. They listened to our concerns and didn't over treat but gave us exactly what we needed for our older dog. If needed we won't hesitate to go back.

Kelly Chauca

I can’t thank you enough for all your love and care towards my family and pet. The recepitionists were very welcoming and helpful and even afford us some beverages for our long wait for results. Nurse and doctor were very helpful and giving us accurate results for my dog illness. You guys saved my dogs life. She finally got her surgery done and is doing very well. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Sabrina Neill

The staff were very nice and professional. The facility and exam rooms were nice. I would definitely recommend this place for your pet needs.

Very clean, attentive and friendly place for your emergency pet needs. Expect to pay $$$ for the care that your pet will get but know they’re in good hands.

No neurologist on staff, had they had one, my cat may have lived.

Julie Elrod

Only reason we give it one star is because we can't leave zero. We have many negative things to say about this place, overcharging is just one... main concern is that the vets have no compassion whatsoever... I mean zero. The vet told us to put our dying, frightened dog down on the cold, metal table. I asked my daughter to put down her sweatshirt so our dog wouldn't slip all over the table. Vet rudely asked, "What...do you want a towel'" like she was perturbed she had to make the effort and then she reached into the cabinet that was right behind her. If that wasn't enough, she then began to aggressively manhandle... and I mean with absolutely no regard for the condition of our dog... our dying dachshund. There was no way I was going to let that woman touch my dog like that, spinning her around on the exam table, nothing about her touch was sensitive...for one more second so we walked out. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET, RUN THE OTHER WAY. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!

Sandra Dent

Since they have opened the facility, we have taken our dogs here a few times when our regular vet's offices are closed. Each time, for each dog, the care has been very good to exceptional. Great staff both in the front and in the back. Can not praise them enough. The practice of veterinary medicine is an "art" and a science. No two animals of the same species, or even breed with have the same trouble, even with similar symptoms. Like our own regular vet and her staff, the veterinarians and staff here are attentive, and will take the time to listen and to explain. This is also an ER, some patients are shuffled ahead of more stable ones to be seen. We were going to the affiliated facilities in Annapolis before, and our specialists all have their offices there, but Columbia is only 12 minutes away verses 30 minutes. In some emergencies, the difference does count. Shameless photos of our puppy at Pet+E.R. She's comfortable enough to go straight to sleep while waiting.

B Rene

I took my dog here on a referral because my primary vet was not available for a small emergency. Before I arrived, I called to make sure that they are available and to get clarification on exactly where they were (I was in a panic at the time and did not think to just Google the address). The gentleman that answered the phone was very nice and very prompt. I let him know what was going on (basically my dogs foot was bleeding profusely and I didn't know why) and he asked me about how far out I was and told me that he would be sure to have someone on standby as soon as I arrive. Sure enough they were right there waiting for us. A quick registration form, which I was able to complete in the triage room, and they were assessing my dog immediately. The veterinarian came in very shortly after and explained what was going on, and she showed me a price sheet to let me know approximately what I would be looking it on my bill. They have you initial each line item and sign off on the bottom. Overall, Pet ER was fast, professional, patient, and friendly! The facility is very modern and extremely clean. The staff will offer you coffee, tea, water (bottled). The waiting room and the treatment room is also very nice. I would definitely recommend looking at this location if you were ever in the need of an emergency facility for your animal. They also provide services in cardiology and a few other specializations. The sad part is that I think this hospital experience was a lot easier and smoother than any one that I have ever had! Since this incident happened, I recommend adding Pet ER to your contacts. I wish I took pictures, but I was in such a rush to get my baby seen.

I spent the better part of my morning at this facility today. They not only took care of my pet but they also looked after me. No pet owner ever wants to be in the emergency room. They were thorough and kept me informed throughout the process. I highly recommend this E.R. for pets and would not consider going any place else.

The entire staff was knowledgable, warm and welcoming! In fact, the part-time neurologist was not available and the on staff doctor diagnosed my dog's condition. We paid additionally for a neurologist consult to be sure but the diagnosis was verbatim.

Friendly staff, my 8 week old puppy was very comfortable with the staff that treated him.

Highly recommend. From front desk to techs to vets. Dr. Snyder was very comforting to me during difficult time. Dr. Kramer gave us a lot of time. They saved our baby boy. So happy they are here in Columbia.

Service was prompt, attending vet was professional, sympathetic, and took the time to explain everything fully. Gave me a full diagnosis and x-rays for my regular vet.

Just to START with they charged over $3k for them to "monitor" our dog for 12 hours only to refer him to one of their specialist doctors so they can make MORE money off of us, no treatment, just diagnosis and the kicker is they won't even authorize the refill on the meds they send you home with. They want you to go to yet ANOTHER vet to get the script for the refill. Totally unhelpful. I don't know about you but I don't have days and days to keep going back to the vet. PLUS after spending over $4k and many hours at their office, I would think the least they could do is authorize the refill of an RX they prescribed. This place just tries to get as much money out of pet owners as possible. If you can wait until a regular business day to see your regular vet, do. And if you can't, find another pet ER, ANY other pet ER unless you like getting taken advantage of. I've had smaller medical bills from seeing real doctors in a real ER not to mention an easier time getting scripts filled. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Clean facilities. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Felt secure with the level of home care advised after their treatment.

The doctors and staff are truly talented and compassionate about what they do. They responded appropriately and promptly when I brought my dog in who was verg ill. We were brought back to triage right away, my dog was taken back to the ICU, the doctor discussed with me my options, wishes, and goals of care. She was honest and direct with expectations, cost of care, and most importantly, goals of care. My dog was mostly healthy most of his life and this was my very first ER visit. My dog ended up being euthanized but I felt like the doctor (Dr Hutt) and staff supported my dog and I throughout our entire stay and experience. I highly recommend this place especially if your dog is truly ill. It was clear to me that they will do what is best for the dog and you/owner.

I took my fur baby, Dakota, in today because he messed up his read knee playing. The staff and facility in the Columbia branch were top notch. They took care of my baby quickly and withing 5 minutes of arriving, they were on their way to helping him out. I highly recommend them.

My dog was in respiratory failure and luckily Dr. Snyder was in the ER and could diagnose his problem immediately. He had laryngeal paralysis. The entire ER team acted immediately to save his life. Dr. Keats performed the tie-back surgery. He was great at explaining the illness and the surgical procedure to me. Now my13-yr old dog is like a puppy again. I am so grateful for the wonderful care that they gave him. I can't thank them enough!

5 out of 5 stars~ We brought our 11year old retriever mix to the Pet ER in Columbia on a Saturday morning. She seemed really sick but we thought antibiotics would have cured her. Ultimately, her illness was critical and we had to put her down. My husband and I were devastated. Their staff was outstanding, they acted like family. We received a card in the mail with personal handwritten notes from at least a dozen staff members and they also gave us (a week later) a clay plaque with Nikki’s paw print and her name engraved. I was also pleased that they saved her collar... which I thought was gone because I forgot to request it. They understand that our pets are family.

We've been referred here twice by our primary care vet. After triage and some paperwork they took care of the big guy. Polite professional staff. Easily accessible and visible from the highway. Ample parking, comfortable lounge. The vet techs are skilled with handling animals. Best front office staff ever.
