I had been taking my dog here for 3 years. I moved about an hour away and, after trying several local vets, I have decided to make the drive to continue using Opossum Pike Vet. All of their vets genuinely care about your furbabies. They do not try to get you to do unnecessary services or shots. Probably most importantly, they LISTEN to you. All of the vets will thoroughly explain and answer your questions. The office is very clean. The staff are all very friendly and their prices are very reasonable. I have always been able to get an appointment right away when necessary. And as a result, I now take my cat there, as well. I can't recommend them enough.

Great place with reasonable prices!!!! I’m grateful that the clinic was accommodating and seeing my cockatiel pet urgently. Same day appointment. Dr Yau is amazing and knowledgeable. I was so worried about my baby, i called around other vet places in town and their upfront cost was sooo ridiculously expensive. I have so a lot of pets so anything will help out a lot. I will take my dog here next time!

I've been using Opossum Pike vets since I moved to Frederick 18 years ago. They are the most caring, kindest people I know. They have been through thick and thin with me for the care of all my dogs. On 2 separate occasions they helped to save 1 of my dogs life. Their care and compassion goes above and beyond. The doctors and staff are outstanding. I highly recommend Opossum Pike vets. As long as I have dogs, they are my number 1 pick.

They saved my Corgie, Crikkit!!! Excellent care. I cannot say enough about Opossum Pike Vet. Clinic, Dr. Schaden and his staff. My Corgie had gotten into the trash and consumed several pork rib bones. She became very ill and we were not sure if she had a perforated intestine. She stayed under their care for a few days and with their help she was able to pass it without surgery or any internal damage. Whenever I call they are so polite, caring and able to get us right in when we need attention. I feel their prices are fair compared to several others in the area. I would rate them the BEST in Frederick, MD.

I've been a patron to this office for about 18 years now and even when I was living in NYC I would still drive down here with all 3 of my dogs. I wouldn't trust anyone else when it comes to the care of my fuzzy family. All the staff are so helpful and honestly CARE about my animals. They even know my dogs and call them out by name when they get here. They don't just do dogs and cats I had a pet rat and they took care of him too! If you're looking for a good honest caring vets office, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!! You won't get better care for your animals anywhere else!

My brother and I took our pit bull here for 7 months & I kept telling them he was sick! They did test blood work, xrays & exams.... they told us nothing was wrong. That he was just anemic. Now my baby is gone & I'm heart broken

EDIT: I was contacted shortly after my review with an express apology for the mix-up with the mistaken reminder mail. They said it was a problem that came up with some administration changes, I think, and they have fixed it. They have expressed their wish to be better with email/communications and I appreciate them reaching out to me. I know he was an old dog, but it still hurts to dwell on, so I didn't update my review until now. [/EDIT] The vets themselves are very good. Especially Dr. Mike, but they were all kind, patient with questions, and they took good care with my boy when he was in his last days. I think I've met all the vets there by now. However, whoever is responsible for the clinic's emails does a poor job. During the couple weeks when my dog was very sick, my emails were never replied to except the first one at all. After spending over a thousand dollars within the week on care there, a reply to a few email questions would have been appreciated, but I guess you can't charge for an email reply. I guess I'm a bit bitter about it. They also sent a condolence card for my dog after he passed, but a few weeks later we got a letter from them saying his rabies renewal should be soon. Please take pets off those kinds of mailing lists after you know they've passed. I've been a client for the clinic for some years for a couple pets, including rodents. The care and advice is good so I can't call it a bad choice for a pet. Call, don't email, if you'd like answers to any questions however.

Good location, plenty of parking, easy to get to from many parts of Frederick. Their NexGard flea and tick price is a little high but certainly not outrageous for a veterinarian's office. When I inquired about CBD for my dog, I was rather surprised/disappointed that no one (the Techs/office staff I asked, nor the Vet) had even heard of CBD, which is an effective natural treatment/alternative for dogs (and cats, and other animals, and people!) with arthritis/joint issues, pain, inflammation, anxiety, and a host of other issues.... Overall, though, I've had a positive with this Vet since I started bringing my pet here 6 months ago.

Our beloved dog had gone to this practice most of his life--and it may have cost him is life. He was seen by two different vets in the practice who each gave him medication for a cough. The drugs interacted and caused his lungs to fill with fluid. He actually drowned in his own secretions as my husband rushed him in to their office. I also rushed there, arriving minutes too late. When I asked the vet thru my tears what had happened he said "we think it was heart cancer". No kidding. I will never, ever forget him telling he that in my grief. "Mal practice" is a strong word, but you be the judge.

The staff is extremely knowledgeable and professional and are always super friendly (to both people and pets!). They see a wide variety of animals and are pretty flexible with their schedules to see your pets quickly.

Been a customer here for nearly 5 years but recently stopped going. They try to charge you for extra work that I did not request and wouldn’t see my dog because I did not consent to a full physical exam (easily $125 on top of a regular visit ($90)). Find another vet that will be more honest and up front abt their charges.
