We've been going to OSSVH since it was in the old shopping center with Dr. Deitchman. Tho we miss him, we've been quite pleased with the various vets we've dealt with throughout the years. Dr. Phillips has been very thorough and caring in dealing with Seborrhea in one of our dogs. Recently we saw Dr. Hoffman for another problem and she was equally thorough and spent a lot of time with us. The staff is always very friendly and efficient, and they all obviously love animals.

Four days ago, my granddog Stormy had eyelid surgery to remove a mass. She had her teeth cleaned and nails clipped while she was under anesthesia. There is no swelling and she does not appear to be in any discomfort. The Olney-Sandy Spring Veterinary Hospital offers the most current and advanced techniques in the areas of small animal medicine, surgery, dentistry, oncology, reproductive services, and integrative medicine. Over the past 32 years, I have used many hospitals in the DMV area. This veterinary hospital is by far the best. The staff and veterinarians are kind, professional, caring and attentive. They also offer boarding. I wish I had found them before my three dogs died. I would certainly have had them freeze their sperm. Like Stormy, Gustafsen, Freddie, and Phinnaeus were the best dogs ever. Thank you.

Dr. Gregory and staff are wonderful. Its not cheap but worth it. You don't think about your pet companion's end of life issues but you should. Dr. G was just wonderful throughout and patient with the many decisions we had to make. When the time came, she and a staff member came to my house and my beloved dog got to pass away in peace in my arms rather than in a vet hospital. She still provides wonderful care to my remaining dog and i highly recommend her.

The doctors have always called me back with test results and as a follow-up to see how Spikers was doing. It is a trip for me to go there but I would not trust another veterinary hospital with my pets needs.

Am I the only one who feels they overcharge and try to get you to spend more? I brought my dog in for an ear infection that I'm already familiar with because she gets it every time the seasons change due to allergies. It was my first time here and chose it because it is close by and had great ratings. The vet only gave me medicine for one week and told me if it doesn't take care of it, to come get more. Every other time my dog has had this she is given 2 weeks of medication. Then, they called me because they wanted to schedule a follow up appt to check to make sure the infection was gone. I asked if they would charge me for that and they said yes. I've never had a vet office ask me to come in for a follow up on her ears. Sure, they've called to see if it went away, which is all that's necessary in my book. Also they charged for nail clipping when EVERY other place I've been does it complimentary during your visit. Microchipping is very expensive there too. It's like they are taking advantage of people who dont know better. I won't be going here again.

Of you’re looking for veterinarians who take care of your animal as of it were their own, this is the place for veterinary care. Dr. Hoffman and all of her colleagues are top-notch professionals. They make easy situations easier and hard situations easy. They are very cost conscious and fairly priced. Upon the passing of our dog, Dr. Hoffman sent me and my family a sympathy card, which was sweet and came in handy as we were grieving. We are life-long customers.

Our dog was seen on Tuesday for wellness check up and red eye. They used a tono-pen to check her intraocular pressure and stained her eye. On Wednesday, when she woke up, her eye was severely red with a lot of drainage/purulence. As a physician, once I perform a procedure, there is a global period, meaning if something is related to the service performed, I will see the patient for that reason without charging. When I called the front desk, she stated that not only there is a charge to see her but also there is an extra fee for add on. Imagine, I just paid for those services performed with out her giving me a diagnosis and my dogs eye is infected and they want me to pay so she can write a topical ointment. I have been taking my dog to this place for the past 7 years since we rescued her. I am extremely upset by the way they treated us. I hope this acute infection will get resolved.

Prices a bit high by comparison, but overall the message I always get is that the vets are well trained, competent, hard working, and caring. Techs and support staff are as well, but their performance may be a little less consistent than the docs. Overall, highly recommended.

Olney-Sandy Spring is the best of 4 veterinary clinics I've tried in the Aspen Hill / Olney area. I made 3 visits so far. The veterinarians are knowledgeable, calm, caring. The staff is always caring and helpful. The facilities are very open and spacious which I think is very important when dealing with potentially ill or nervous animals. My criticisms of the other vets include being too nervous around dogs, disrespectful of pet anxieties, dismissive of pet owner questions and having very cramped facilities. I also visited both emergency animal hospitals in the area and love them both. The bottom line, Olney-Sandy Spring is a great veterinary clinic.

All the people associated with Olney-Sandy Spring Veterinary Hospital are attentive to my pet's needs on every visit. They are a special group at the hospital. This past summer I was unable to get either daughter to watch my cat. At the last minute before leaving on vacation for a week I took the cat in for a stay. I have never had to do it before in my 32 years as a cat owner. I was concerned, as was the cat by the look on his face. On my return he was better than ever, happy to see me and in good spirits. We had been put through the ringer with our new puppy, we had taken him to 3 different vets, long story short, we came here on a neighbor's recommendation and this is by far the absolute best vet we have been to. The level of care the staff give is amazing, while I can't speak about the other doctors (we have only been seeing Dr. Phillips) but I have only heard great things. Also Desiree at the front desk was immensely helpful in recommending emergency vets in the area in-case of an emergency when we were not even patients there, and she gave us tons of useful information over the phone. We've been with Olney-Sandy Spring Vet for over 10 years and alway have had a good experience. The staff and vets are great. They have a separate portion of the waiting area for cats, with a low wall so they can't see the dogs. We usually board the cats with them when we leave town. They have large cages so our two cats can share, and an area for play/exercise. When our work schedule got a bit crazy last year, we tried a practice closer to us. But we just didn't think we received the same quality of care, and went right back to Olney-Sandy Spring.

I can't say enough good things about the care, integrity, skill and compassion this veterinary practice gives. They have recently helped me with 3 succesful breedings, and I feel they are top-notch repro vets as well as wonderful vets in their regular practice. We left OSSVH several years ago because the prices were high and the care was rapidly slipping. Our Shiba Inu was having trouble climbing up and down stairs and the vet said it was due to his vision, only to have both ACLs blow within a few months of each other shortly after this remarkable diagnosis. Another vet screwed up the placement of a microchip, causing a lot of pain and fear of going to the vet in our then puppy. We switched vets and have been incredibly happy with the care all of our pets have received since.

I took my little dog to Olney-Sandy Spring for treatment of cancer, and was very impressed with the care she received. The vets are knowledgeable and competent, and explain all your options and the associated costs up front, and the staff is professional and caring. When it came time to spay our dog, Dr. Hoffmann and staff took our dog's special needs into account and created a plan to accommodate them. The day after the surgery the office called twice to make sure that our dog's recovery was going smoothly. This veterinary clinic is wonderful. The staff are dedicated beyond the the call of duty. One front desk lady makes sure she knows when my elderly mother is bringing our dog and is outside to help before Mom is out of the car. Our vet, if Mom is very sick, will come to our house to pick Eva up for an appointment. There's a fee, but the service came as a welcome, much needed surprise.

I did some research and found Dr. Cheryl Stiehl who practices at the Olney-Sandy Spring Veterinary Hospital and she adjusted him and it made a world of difference and his hitch was gone and he is better than ever! I told Dr. Stiehl that Crumpet last weekend got his first 1st and finished his ASFA Field Champion in at the Tri-State Sighthound Club and she was absolutely thrilled!
