Tried a new vet today because I was unhappy with the care for my prior vet... I was VERY pleased. Both the vet & the owner came in to discuss ultrasound results from the prior vet. My dachshund is very sick, but they really cared & took their time explaining everything and gave me an honest suggestion with what to do next. I definitely recommend this veterinary clinic! (Plus I felt a little special when I saw his name on the board too, it was a nice gesture)

We normally use a vet we have known for 45 years. North Laurel is 10 minutes from our house. we always use them for emergencies, and procedures that our vet can't accommodate. I absolutelty love this place and would never dream of going elsewhere! After 13 healthy and energetic years, my old buddy developed a gold-ball sized tumor overnight. It was diagnosed as a fast spreading cancer. Dr. Bob and staff were sympathetic and kind- everything you could ask for. We were able to remove the tumor once to buy us a little more time- but only with the help of Dr Bob. Because he was willing to work with us on the bill payments, we were able to spend one more month with Monty before he was laid to rest. It made all of the difference. I can never thank North Laurel enough for making it possible to say goodbye properly. These are good people, and I am a customer for life!

My husband and I LOVE NLAH!! Especially Dr. Bob!! We have been bringing our dog, Medic, to NLAH for about 3 years now, even though we live 25 minutes away and there are any number of vets between our house and NLAH. NLAH is a bit pricey but they won't "sell" you anything you don't need. They truly love animals and they take the time with you during an appointment. They aren't rushing to get done with you and on to the next patient. I would recommend NLAH to anyone looking for a vet.

A very caring and loving facility for your pets. Peyton had to have dental surgery and i was very concerned about it. I worried needlessly, as he was treated very well. They explained everything to me both about the surgery and the recovery. When i picked him up, the staff was so kind and thoughtful and caring for him. Terrible experience. Dr. Robert Cohn, the owner and Veterinarian, almost engaged in a physical altercation with me while my 7 year old was at my side. On 11 May 2019, I came into the North Laurel Animal Hospital to get my dog’s ear checked out. The vet technician processed my dog for check in and Dr. Bob Cohn came into the examination room and began examining my dog. My only purpose for the visit was to get a referral done for my dog’s ear. Dr. Cohn immediately started administering other tests on my dog to which I stated to him that I’m only there to get my dog’s ear looked at and not any other matter. He immediately stated to me that my dog needs the tests and he must do them. I replied that I don’t want the tests done (as I was unable to pay for additional care at the time). He immediately told me to get out of his office and never come back. He had such a visceral reaction that I was completely taken aback since Dr. Cohn appears to be in his 60s possibly 70s. This man was so infuriated by my request to not have additional tests completed that he was unable to communicate without yelling and accosting me. I told him that it’s overly disingenuous to administer tests, as I would incur the costs, without my permission; despite any of his concerns. After making this statement, Dr, Cohn ran toward me and was held back by his three vet assistants. He later told me that if I don’t get out he would knock me out. This is while my son was by my side. The experience is almost laughable since he looks like a caricature of an amiable professor; however, what was not funny was that he threatened to use violence on me in front of my kid. Assessing the situation, it’s my belief that Dr. Cohn’s M.O. is to be perceived as holding some moral high ground in animal care; thereby justifying unnecessary tests and procedures that will be added to your bill. I’m still in disbelief how this man is in business. He has complete disregard for pet owners and only seeks a greater bottom line for his business. By making clear to him that I did not want additional tests or procedures completed on my pet, I stood in the way of him and his additional dollars he tried to gain from me. As a result, he threatened me with physical violence.

Best vet experience I’ve had. My German shepherd mix is a rescue and had a bad first experience with another location which traumatized him wrt all aspects of the visit to the vet. The vets and staff at North Laurel welcomed him and made him feel comfortable, and, understanding his background, worked hard and with a great deal of patience, to get him to a place where he was no longer terrified of going to the doctor. The receptionists are warm and helpful, the techs are actual animal whisperers, and the docs are top class.

This place is overpriced. They do shots and certain exams more frequently so they can charge you more money. For example, generally a dog gets a fecal annually, however if you're boarding your dog, they do a fecal every 6 months. Also, boardella shots are done every 6 to 12 months, and they do them every 3 months. They charge you more for the annual vaccinations than other vets, so I started taking my dog to another vet who charges more than $100 less than NLAH.

I like North Laurel Animal Hospital and so does my doc. The staff and the doctor are very friendly and genuinely seem to care for your pets. It is a little on the expensive site but in my opinion money well spent.

We have brought a dog and our two cats to this Hospital. My experiences with Doctor Covert have been positive and she is very caring individual. The vet assistants and staff has been super friendly also. I know we all hurt when it comes to our pets being sick. But when I go in there, the level of quality is consistent as well as the caring and friendliness of the staff. No complaints.

I can't understand some of these reviews! Wouldn't put down your cat? He's a vet, he's supposed to care more about your animal than he cares about you. You have a doctor to care for you. I have been taking my lab to Dr. Bob for 6 plus years now. He is caring, understands financial issues and will work with you. His prices are higher than other places but, I think the level of service and care you receive is worth it. Dr. Covert is also really good and caring. The one thing this vet office will not do, is risk your pets health to make you happy. Sorry you had to wait 45 minutes with your cat with the sniffles, but did you ever stop to think maybe he was taking care of something more important at the time?

So this hospital only wants your money they really don't care about animals! Really come to find out a lot of places seem to be like this! I would never take a pet of mine when and if I get myself together and idk if I'll ever have another pet cuz of what I'm going through now! This is not the place to take your pet! Take it to somewhere where they care no matter what your situation is in life! People say they care about animals if u don't have money these places don't care!!

I have been taking my pets to Dr. Bob at NLAH for 23 years. He is compassionate and efficient. My "big ol' dog" is about to turn 14 and I wouldn't trust his care to anyone else. Cindy, the groomer, takes such good care of Rascal (the old dog) when I bring him in for grooming. She also takes care of all of Skye's (our younger dog) allergy issues when she grooms him. The front desk staff are always warm and greet me and my pets right away. I haven't met a staff member I wasn't impressed with. Such an awesome office. I should add that Rascal has had several surgeries while under Dr. Bob's care. Each one was a success. I highly recommend NLAH for your pets.

My first visit here was very pleasant. Staff is courteous, friendly and thorough to listen to each concern you have. They got me in quickly for an appointment and called to check availability for an earlier appointment when the weather was bad, which I find to be outstanding. However, the doctor has repeatedly provided me bad information and the charges have become quite extensive, almost a rip off. The quality of care is not accurate since the doctor I worked with has REPEATEDLY failed to provide the full picture in fees or procedures which prevents an owner in making the best decisions for their loved one. They fail to provide fees in advance for your approval and wait until you show up to surprise you with a bill that is higher than the Heavens. I was going to be charged $1600 for two teeth cleanings for my two cats. They needed to perform all kinds of procedures and blood work in advance when the cats had just been in for several wellness checks in which I had spent several hundreds of dollars. I find this to be quite ridiculous. They say it is for quality care and because they do things by the highest standards - so this gives them the right to rip you off. I also purchased an allergy test and injections for my dog who suffers tremendously. The doctor once again failed to do his research and explain that the injections would be every single day until he acclimates himself to the medication which was created just for him...not cheap. He initially advised me the shot would be once for 9 months. They refused to refund me even with proof in the notes that it was not disclosed or that they did not bother to explain the 200 injections that would be required. One injection is fine - but an owner who is not comfortable with doing them daily for 9 months is another thing. Be very careful to ask the right questions all the time and have them send you quotes before procedures, as I started doing, to know what they plan to charge you so you don't waste your time with them if you don't have to.

These people are great. I was referred by my neighbor and I can clearly see why she likes them. My dog Wonder, loves them to. She gets excited when we are pulling the parking lot. Everyone there is super friendly, from the receptionists to both vets. They send out postcards with reminders of when Wonder is due for a vaccination or checkup, specifically saying what is needed. That is helpful to a new pet owner. Wonder had two problems when I got her as a puppy. They were able to diagnose and treat both quickly. PS after posting I scrolled through some of the posts and saw two older very negative posts. I can say my experience has been totally different than either of them. They have been able to give me appts. on relatively short notice. I have never had to wait very long. Certainly less time than I wait at most Dr offices.

We love NLAH so much. We left our last vet to come here when our previous vet did a poor job diagnosing and caring for our extremely ill pup. She ended up dying weeks into their care because of the poor diagnosis from our other vet. NLAH ran tests and immediately knew what was wrong with our girl. They took care of Luna and treated her as if they had her since a pup despite picking up pieces of her crappy treatment. My puppy broke his leg so I rushed him to this animal hospital and when I came into the lobby clearly flustered, the receptionists told me the dr wouldn't see my dog because they were closing soon. It was 7:25pm and they didn't close until 8pm. I found this very rude and disappointing.

The prices are pretty reasonable and the place is always clean. The receptionists are always welcoming to whomever walks through the door. Especially April, who is there most of the times I've gone there. The doctors are very knowledgeable in regards to the animals. I am so pleased with Dr. Bob Cohn and his staff. Everyone is kind and courteous and no question about my 2 cats' health is unimportant. For scheduled appointments, we wait only a short time before being shown to an examination room. The cats are with loving care. Dr. Bob is enthusiastic about what he does and he explains clearly any health issues and treatment plans that my cats have. The staff are great with follow up reminders for future appointments, too.

First the bill. I had an MRI that was cheaper. Make sure you get a price estimate with shots before you walk in. Visit is $70, shots were $410 dollars. I thought maybe a couple of hundred, no almost $500 dollars bill. Appointment at 4:30 pm didn't get out till 6:00, I guess not that bad. I made the appointment at 1 pm got there they said someone cancelled. The only reason I'll be going back is because I have a free booster shot appointment. NEVER AGAIN.
