I have been going to Falls Road Veterinary Hospital for over twenty years. My pets have always received great care and their staff has been responsive and attentive.

My Goldendoodle, ASCI, has been taken care of there for the past 10 yrs. I walked in, without an appointment, as he has been in pain and laboring. NO other dogs or patients were waiting. No cars in the parking lot. I described his issues and asked to see the Doctor. An assistant at the desk come out and tells me that this will be considered as a "emergency visit" and the MINIMUM charge will be $150.00. I simply asked then following: "Are you seriously going to charge me a emergency visit after 10 years of treating ASCI "? The response was yes, that would be the "Emergency fee". I asked how many Doctors were in the back. She said there were 3. I asked for a copy of all of ASCI's paperwork. It took about 10 minutes to copy his records (aprox 40 pages). I took ASCI immediately to the New Dr. Boyd's facility on Rockville Pike. Dr. Boyd's is Beautiful, New with cutting edge technology and is filed with happy, caring people. I explained ASCI's issues, the Dr. came out almost immediately. The Dr. spent 40 minutes with ASCI and gave him a full, hands on Exam. He prescribed a pain killer and a new on the market muscle relaxer. I was in the exam room throughout. The Doc was so engaging, full of knowledge and handled ASCI as if he was his own. The charge for the "new patient, 40 min exam, 2 prescriptions for 30 days? $120.00. I STRONGLY recommend that you no longer patronize Falls Rd Veterinary Hospital and I also STRONGLY suggest that you visit Dr. Boyd's in Rockville Md.

I have been having my dog groomed here for many years with Penny, who retired recently. Cindy is the other groomer there and she is horrible. She has no patience. She called me to complain about the matting on my dog and she sounded angry on the phone. I picked up my dog to find her completely shaved. She resembled a rat with basically no hair left. I called her and she continued in her angry tone and complained that my dog was trying to bite her when she brushed her. When my dog came home, she was shivering and seemed spooked from the whole ordeal. Now she has to be hairless for the winter months. I do not recommend this place at all for grooming as the groomer seems to not like animals.

Front desk staff unenthusiastic, at best. About as enthusiastic as my dogs hemoccult, as a matter of fact One can expect a bill in excess of $200.00 simply walking through the door, and I felt as though my dog and myself were treated as if buying a second hand car, from an excellent used car salesman. Positively awful experience, and I imagine they charge what the want due to the wealth in the area. $1200.00, all in for a tooth extraction? Wow. Unfortunately, I have to give you one star, as there's nothing lower on the review page.

If you are going to make the client wait 24 hours for a medication refill, then have the common curtesy to call when it is ready.

I went here because it is close to home and they have dealt with rescue kittens before but I’m leaving because: 1. When my kitty was spayed, they failed to call me when she was discharged though they said they would call - when I called they acted like I shoulda known to come get her hours ago. 2. When I picked her up after she was spayed they handed me meds & forms but didn’t go over any of it or explain when to give the meds, what to look for, when I might need to call or any helpful information. 3. The other day I overheard another client say she had to go to another vet for her dog’s UTI because Falls Road could not give her an appointment. 4. Today the vet called in response to my email & said it was ok to start my kitty on meds for her lesions but when I called back I got vm & when I showed up there was no record of the call & the staff acted like I was crazy - they would not call the vet to confirm. They said I had to wait 2 days until that particular vet was back in the office!

We have 2 dogs who love the people at Falls Road Veterinary Hospital as much as we do. Our Lhasa was very ill with pneumonia and had smelly, infected ears when we adopted him. He was also traumatized when his previous human was murdered in front of him. We knew from experience with our other dog that the Lhasa would be in good hands. For a few days, owing to his condition, his condition deteriorated and we were told up front this might happen. But after two weeks under the care of Dr. Ainsworth we had a shy, but healthy, playful dog! today, 6 months later and under their watchful care of these fine professionals, our little guy is still a bit shy but he couldn't be any happier. He and his brother spend hours playing with each other and our daily walks are real adventures. On clear nights with a full moon we have howl-fests, much to the delight (really!) of the neighbors. We also board our dogs there when we travel and they get to stay with each other in the same enclosure. Their pictures are posted on Facebook romping in the exercise yard so we can see them even when we can't be with them. I'd give them double 5 stars if I could!
