REVIEWS OF Falls Road Animal Hospital IN Maryland

This is a great place and I’m glad it is here. You’ll see negative reviews here about wait time and price. Consider this- you are visiting an ER with specialized doctors and techs. The training is just as rigorous - if not more - as it is for humans but there are innumerable variations for species. They have a 24/7 staff and doctors on call, though hours for new admissions are limited. You cannot find many places that do same day service. That cost has to be passed on. You feel like it’s bad to ask for just under $100 to get seen? Have you been to a hospital recently? Insurance companies imbed payment/ plan processors to visit patients right after triage and double check/ verify co-pay and coverage details with mobile devices to swipe cards on. No different. From what I experienced, the costs were about the same as I paid a good decade plus ago. They are not elevated and far cheaper than they could be. I guarantee if the staff and owners were all about money they’d have gone into other fields.

Fantastic animal hospital! The entire staff was super friendly. They were very gentle with my German Shepherd who is very dog and people reactive. Kelsey at the front desk was really sweet and Dr. Fore was super nice and very knowledgeable. We had to come in as an emergency so we were expecting a crazy bill. $226 for UTI treatment! That includes the emergency fee, urinalysis (we brought a sample ourselves) and her prescriptions. Highly recommend!

My dog had surgery twice here. The staff is attentive, patient, and kind. Special shout out to Dorothy who sent the best updates while my dog was staying there. I trust the staff, the doctors, and most of all, the pricing there. I would highly recommend!

Thanks so much for the personal attention Sophie was given. I also appreciated the doctor coming out to talk to me. I think Sophie will be looking forward to her next appointment. I'm so happy to know she is healthy and doing well for a 10 year old feline.

I have been coming here since 2012 and have always had great experiences w Veterinarians and the rest of the staff. I also have a guinea pig that I have brought In more than once and she is always handled professionally and has always made full recovery.

I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS ANIMAL HOSPITAL EVER AGAIN, NOR WILL I EVER RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE TO TAKE THEIR ANIMALS THERE. Falls Road is hands down one of the most expensive animal hospitals in Baltimore, That would be fine if they had stellar vets and service, but they do not. If you want to be treated rudely, spoken to like your an idiot, have a vet or tech question your commitment or love for your pet when you cannot afford a service, aggressively pursue you with follow up calls, then this is your place. You want poor treatment this is the place for you. And God forbid you need to put your animal down for some reason. Plan on Falls Road instead advising expensive treatments and tests over the pragmatic and horrifically difficult decision of having to put ones animal companion down. Do not expect any support from Falls Road, no. Expect to be second guessed, condescended, forced to feel embarrassed and ashamed. Yes, you know your pet best, and each of us knows that when the time comes, that we have to make the tough decision of helping your animal companion depart this world, but wait Falls Road wants your money money first. Your pet has terrible cancer? How about a series of blood work and preliminary surgery first, oh just to see if your animal can undergo a more invasive and expensive surgery. WHAT!?! Dont' believe the hype. Falls Road is a horrible animal hospital more fixated on milking you out of your money than giving professional and compassionate care to you and your pet. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!

I can't say enough about the hospital, Dr. Zier and the staff. Everyone was so nice and I felt that Captain Lil Cat was in good hands. After extensive testing, he was sent home feeling much better. The cost was very reasonable. Thank you so much, Falls Road Animal Hospital!

MY Yorkie and cat are cared for at Falls Road Animal Hospital. My pets love their vet doctor (Dr. Silver). Not only does she provide excellent care, she tries to find economical ways to lower costs, but still provide adequate care. My pets are part of my family, but as a senior, you can only do so much financially....so take your pets to Falls Road Animal Hospital; you will be very satisfied!

Staff was extremely friendly and professional. Brought the dog in as an emergency treatment without an appointment and was seen without much delay. Came next next for the rebandaging and also was in and out.

Please do not bring your animal to this facility. To do so puts the life of your animal in further danger. Please understand that I cannot disclose some of the details of my experience until I have ruled out the possibility of legal action after my regular vet sees my animal. I can only put this short warning here with the promise of expanding it later. It should be noted that I am a disabled veteran with a very visible disorder that may be a key reason for the treatment I received at this facility, however I am more concerned about their treatment of my pet.

Phenomenal facility, staff, and spirit!! We're over an hour away, but since they make spay/neuter procedures as accommodating and fees as reasonable as possible for foster families and rescues, we've taken many of our foster animals there. Dr. Hayward, Chloe, and the rest of the staff were absolutely wonderful. There's no question how much they love and care for every single animal they come in contact with. Yes, it's a large facility with 12 vets and many staff, but you'll feel as if you're in a small town vet's office. That's how tightly knit and close they are with each other and with each patient.

Falls Road Animal Hospital takes care of my Kitten and my late Cat very well, but they also take care of me and make sure I am a happy client!

Devon Keatts

I was greeted and assisted immediately upon coming in for my cat's appointment. The technician and the vet were both very caring toward my pet and answered all my questions. I am very happy that we chose Falls Road Animal Hospital for our pets!

Let's be real everyone writing bad reviews about the wait.... The wait at ANY hospital is long... Human hospital emergency room and animal emergency room. With that said, after the typical wait I am thankful for the friendly staff working on Christmas to make sure my Jerry's health will be restored. Checking him on arrival to make sure it's okay for us to wait. They allowed me to ask all my questions and concerns and gave real feedback. No unnecessary treatment. Not force to spend hundreds of dollars. Offered a choice in his care. Many thanks to all the staff at falls Rd animal hospital!! Jerry is on the mend and eating normally now.

Worst experience ever. Not very knowledgeable and over priced.

Nadine Bellot

pretty poor experience...the second time around. Boarding my dog the wash is supposed to be included in the $37 per day pricing. I techinically had my golden there for 2 days but was charged for the 3rd because I didn't make it from a road trip by the 1 PM cut off time. Okay fair enough, but when I came to pick her up 30 minutes before closing, I felt her fur and dirt was left all over my hands. I was asked if she was signed up for the nail clipping and I said yes, and that hadn't been done. I then asked about the wash and that also had not been done. So what did y'all do??? I was asked if I wanted to wait while she got a "quick bath" and I would be sent home with towels for her to dry. I said please do something because I can't take her home dirty. They bathed her and called to tell me that she had some bleeding from the nail bed. I've seen bleeding before but never so much that she had to be taken over to the hospital to stop it because they had a stronger powder to stop bleeding...there was so much blood from just a nail clipping. From the bath...she's been scratching and gnawing at her fur for a week straight now...I would like my money back. I was not happy and thought I should be because it was an animal hospital where she was boarding. The second time I haven't been happy here...I'm not coming back again.

Everyone at Falls Road Animal Hospital does such an amazing job! When I brought my dog there in the middle of the night for an emergency visit everyone took great care of us! They are kind, caring, and very knowledgeable. Highly Recommended!

One of the best emergency animal hospitals in this area. Some of these reviews don't line up, so let me talk about how this works: You do NOT need to come up with the money before the vets take in your animal. They don't even charge until the very end of the visit. As for all the people saying that they are slow- this is a HOSPITAL. There are animals whose lives are on the line, and of course they're going to prioritize an animal who is bleeding out over your dog who has a broken paw. Just like a human hospital. If your animal is having breathing issues, they will IMMEDIATELY take them into an oxygen room and alert a vet so they will be seen asap. I've seen so many angry people coming in and yelling at the staff because they've been waiting for hours to be seen (again, just like what would happen in any other hospital) and the staff handle it very well. They are some of the sweetest people I have ever met. The vets are very sweet and communicate well. I have been there for exotic and non exotic, and they really do have the best. But I do have to say that if you have a bird, you are in the best possible hands. If your pet is in dire conditions, they will treat them immediately. If your pet has an ear infection and you come in without an appointment, then you could be stuck waiting for an hour or two. Just remember that before you review, that this is an emergency hospital.

I have been going to Falls Road Animal Hospital for many years. Dr. Haywood has taken care of my cats and dogs. She is wonderful. The Hospital is clean and neat. The staff is fantastic. You can call whenever you need help. When my pet had an operation they were very kind when I called. When my 22 year old cat had to be put to sleep cried my eyes out. They were so kind to me. They sent a card and called to see how I was doing. I would never go anywhere else. I love my pets and the care they get at Falls Road Animal Hospital. They are #1 in my book.

This place is all about the money and failed to make me feel that they actually care about your pet... strictly business .. if you love your pet, don't bring them here unless it's a late night emergency and you don't have a better option

Deborah Dupree

The entire staff is very courteous, friendly, caring and accommodating in every aspect of their responsibilities. The doctors are kind and gentle with the animals. They show compassion and explain every detail everything. I had to put my dog to sleep due to lymphoma and they made that experience as bearable as possible. I love this place.

I had an emergency with my dog and I had to rush to Falls Road Animal Hospital. The staff was very quick to help my dog, and was very knowledgeable and friendly. I was very happy with the service I received.

I take all of my pets (3 cats and 1 dog) to Falls Rd. Animal Hospital. I first came in 2 years ago due to an emergency with one of my cats. Because of their professionalism and great treatment of my pets, I continue to go back. They are always up front with options for the various treatments my pets have received, are always considerate of cost, and the necessity of certain treatments vs. how effective they might actually be in treating the symptoms at hand. One of my cats had to come in for a week long treatment for a potentially life threatening condition. While he was there, I received calls from the attending vet (Dr. Anthony) every day and when I came to visit him, was always impressed by how much the staff cared about him. They even when out of their way to close off a room for him as he started to recover and was taken off the IV so he wouldn't be stuck in the normal treatment crate all the time, but still needed to be monitored. I was very impressed by this experience. Additionally, I had the unfortunate experience of having to put down a foster dog at their facility. It was an incredibly difficult situation and experience, but the staff was so compassionate and understanding. They even sent me a hand signed sympathy card from all of the staff members after his passing. I recently had an appointment for one of my own pets and one of the staff members remembered my foster and the situation. It was so touching to know that they cared enough to remember me and my foster. They also get bonus points for getting me in quickly for scheduled visits or emergencies. I have always been amazed at their ability to get everything coordinated so well, even when the staff has a lot going on at the front desk and you can tell their back room staff are very busy. One point I would like to make about the environment in the waiting area - while I know Dr. Hammond does a lot of work around the world to help animals and has met a number of celebrities, I go to this office for the treatment of my pets and they receive treatment from the excellent staff there. I would love to see more pictures of the vets, techs, and front desk staff that I am entrusting my animals' care to. Recognition of their work is important to ensure they know they are appreciated for the work they do and the compassion they show. They should be recognized as much as Dr. Hammond.

Ms ChynaDoll

They treated my dog so well..he loves to go to the doctors now since we switched to Falls Road. The best staff EVER!!

Falls road is the closest 24 hour vet that sees rats, so when our little guy was barely breathing and we were panicking we decided to take him here. When we arrived the first thing i noticed was how the wall was plastered with pictures of the owner of the Animal Hospital with various celebrities. The next thing I noticed was how they probably hadn't updated the interior since 1970. I could immediately tell this guy probably had a poor moral compass (and vanity to spare) based on these two factors - but we really felt helpless at this point so we decided to give them a chance. We immediately handed our little guy over to them when we got there, and they took him back to check him out. After about an hour of waiting, a vet tech presented us with one option, which was to have him stay overnight with them (which included all sorts of treatments) to the tune of nearly $2k. At no point did they even mention the option of putting him down, and I know that's because they would have made no money doing that. We brought him home, and the next day he died in my hands as I tried to keep him warm and comfortable. We approached my sister in-law about the incident because she worked as a vet tech for years, and she was disgusted and appalled. This place runs an immoral practice that places more importance on profit than giving good care. Avoid them at all costs. Also, what vet-hospital owner turns the waiting room into a shrine for themselves? Guy is a joke

This facility was clean, very friendly service and knowledgeable staff. Although my fur baby was sick, the visit did not intensify her experience. I was appreciatively satisfied.

They were fast and helpful. They treat exotics here, and gave me useful advice for treating my hedgehog's malady.

This is a full service Pet Hospital. The Doctors and staff are wonderful and caring. Our vet, Dr. Hayward, came highly recommended by other vets I spoke to. She is a excellent surgeon and very compassionate to her patients and their owners. I think the place gets a bad rap because some people may be turned off by Dr Hammond's TV appearances, but he is a very caring individual and good doc. I am especially happy that they are a 24 hour full service place. There is vet on premise 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. Gives one extra comfort when your leaving your pet overnight.

M Lucienne

Though I loved the accuracy of the clinical diagnosis I received when I took my pet there, I was a bit under-whelmed by the office visits. Of the 4 visits I had, I was only able to actually speak with a vet 50% of the time. Technicians did the other two. Now I know that some people will be okay with this, I'm not. I feel that the least a patient should receive during an office visit, is a direct conversation with the vet, no matter how brief it is, if they are really busy. That's reassuring. Why else are they there? So, I took away 2 stars for the lack of vet interaction because I'm old school and like interpersonal interactions.

Typically, I've been quite pleased with this location. I've taken my animals there for boarding for decades, and more recently have been going for my pet's routine vet visits. Today's visit, however, has me quite furious. I initially scheduled an 8am appointment online using their web-system. I got a call back saying that the 8am time I was allowed to choose online was not, in fact, available for an appointment. So I worked with the receptionist to find an alternate time that would minimize interruption to my workday. I wanted a lunchtime appointment, but was told that wasn't an option. I settled for 11:30. I arrived 10 minutes early. At noon, I still hadn't been called back—though I had checked twice, reminding the receptionist that I scheduled this appointment to get back to work on time. I was finally called back and a technician began the visit. An hour after my scheduled appointment time (at 12:30 which, mind you, would have actually been an ideal time for my appointment in the first place, but I was told wasn't an option), the vet came in. We discussed the purpose of the visit and some additional things they'd check. All seemed to go well until it came time to pay and the bill was about $200 more than I anticipated. The various costs of each individual thing the vet had checked were never outlined to me beforehand. So there's a visit fee, a fee for bloodwork, a fee for checking her ears, a fee for clipping her claws, a fee for two medicines (which I'll buy, of course, but that was never even a question)...and various other service fees....for terrible service. I was just expected to pay without question. For my pet's health, of course, I will and I did pay. However, seeing as it took nearly 2 hours and over $400 for what should have been a 30 minute visit with most of those routine checks included in the general cost of the visit, and the fact that my cat was drenched in rubbing alcohol upon leaving—so much so that my car now reeks of it—means I will be taking my pet elsewhere for her routine visits.

My 15 year old Shih Tzu was having severe arthritis related issues in his right hind-leg on the night of 9/8. Initially, he went to sleep fine but, he woke up around 3am in immense pain and he was unable to put any amount of pressure on his affected leg. It was clear his prescribed pain meds were not working and our family decided to immediately leave for the vet. Knowing that Falls Road advertises “24 hour award winning care” we did not hesitate to bring him there. We set him down as gently as we could in the car and drove a half an hour through a torrential rainfall to get him there. When we arrived the lights were on however, the lock on the front door was bolted and no staff members were stationed at the front desk. There was simply a sign on the door that said to “call” the night staff with the adjacent phone to be let in. We did so, and the night-staff promptly told us that “they were in surgery.” We were then informed that the wait for ANY medical assistance would be ONE AND A HALF HOURS at 3:30am. Completely ridiculous, not only that but, after informing us of the wait time no one came to the front desk or spoke to us in person. They hung up the phone with no further consolation and left our aching dog to suffer in the rain. We ended up having to drive another 45 minutes to a different emergency vet (where we were let in and helped right away even while they said the doctor was performing a surgery). This “hospital” let my dog and our family suffer much more than we had to by turning us away during their “scheduled hours.” Falls Road Animal Hospital is filled with incompetent employees who falsely advertise emergency care who actually would rather do nothing than even attempt to do their jobs. Sadly we aren’t alone, there are too many horror stories coming out of this “hospital.”

I recently went to this facility for a regular scheduled vet appointment for my 9 yr old cat. I was very excited to go here because of all the other reviews I had read. I scheduled my appt. for weeks in advance on a Sat. afternoon at 2 p.m.. We arrive promptly at 1:50 p.m. so we could check-in & be ready to get called. The lobby was an absolute ZOO. Staff members were doing consultations in the lobby for 2 emergency cases. I have never seen a consultation happen in the lobby especially for an emergency. It should be done in a private room for the patients safety & privacy. It seemed that there were a couple emergencies going on - which I totally understand, but no staff connected with us about how late we would be called in. Around 2:30 p.m. a staff member looked at us from the counter & asked what we were waiting for b/c we had been sitting there for awhile. We told them we had an appointment for 30 minutes prior & they were like "Uhm ?? okay...." and walked away. I get that emergencies take precedent, but as a facility that handles both simultaneously - I would expect more organization & better communication with patients. At 2:50 we finally get called into the examination room. The vet tech seemed nice. I had to assist in holding my cat so the tech could do a few examinations (temp, teeth check, etc), which I thought was odd. The vet comes in about 10-20 minutes after the tech leaves. The vet was very nice, but missed SEVERAL KEY inspection points that I would expect for a yearly exam. They did NOT flea comb my cat, they did not inspect her skin or nails and they waved off me asking about her OBVIOUS over-grooming on her legs & more. After me asking a couple more times about if the cause was anxiety or anything - the vet finally suggested a Gabapentin prescription which would promptly knock her out & make her extremely loopy... Which I thought was WILD considering the vet didn't seem to take much interest or note in my cat's over-grooming so it seemed like complete over-kill. After writing up the script & adding it to our bill - she suggested Feliway which was a much more natural calming method for cats. Which I was quite upset about because I would've gone with that instead of tranq-ing my cat. When we finally were finished with our appointment, we had to wait over 20 minutes to get checked out at the counter. I was told the prescription would be given to us when we checked out. I was handed a massive packet & bill for what seemed like a rushed check up on my cat. I paid & left. Once I got home I was expecting to find the prescription paper within the huge packet - nope. I found out the clerk was supposed to hand me the actual medication at the counter, but did not even though I paid for it. Overall - the vet & the tech seemed very inexperienced with handling cats. They both did not pick her up normally or seem to have control over a normal slightly squirmy cat. The facility was in absolute chaos. The receptionists had no track of actual appointments in the chaos. I am absolutely extremely disappointed with my visit. I have been to several other vets in previous cities I have lived in and this one was honestly the worst one. They missed several key checkups on my cat and made me feel horrible when I got home. I did not feel good or secure about her checkup. I want to take her somewhere else for a legitimate full examination since she is 9 years old and now considered a senior cat, but I cannot since I paid so much for this visit. I also worked at my local Humane Society for several years and I understand how hectic things can get. But I have seen young adults and teens handle animals and communication better than this facility. I am also NOT one to write a review like this as I am very understanding, but our experience at this facility was absolutely ridiculous. I am extremely disappointed especially considered the 'awards' they smack on the main sign outside. I do NOT feel like my cat got a proper examination. I would never feel comfortable recommending anyone to trust this place with their beloved pets.

The hospital was very well run. The staff was knowledgeable and compassionate. They are the only place that I know that can treat birds. The other places that I contacted could not treat a bird. They only could clip wings.

We noticed our little senior dog's eye was a little shut on a Saturday evening and she was really off. By Sunday morning, her eye was shut and she was in pain walking in circles. We immediately called Falls Road Animal Hospital and took our dog in as an emergency. During the visit, we explained all of her symptoms in detail to the staff and doctor. The doctor examined her. Her diagnosis was dry eye and an ulcer in her right eye that was most likely the souse of her pain. We asked for blood work to be sure nothing else was going on. Blood work was taken and the results were what was expected for a dog of her age. We purchased very expensive eye medications to treat the dry eye and ulcer as well as some pain medication. After administering the medications for a few days, we noticed only a slight improvement in her behavior. We took her to our normal vet and he examined her eyes. The ulcer was showing improvement but it was determined that she had extreme eye pressure which was a result of the pain she has been in. This should have been tested during our emergency visit to Falls Road Animal Hospital. Due to their negligence, the high pressure caused our dog to go blind in her right eye very quickly. According to our vet and research, If this had been caught during our emergency visit, medication could have been purchased lowering the pressure preventing vision loss and pain. We paid close to $500 during our emergency vet visit at Falls Road Animal Hospital. Our dog's eye pressure was never tested and is a common practice for the symptoms she experienced. If this was not missed, our dog's vision loss and continued pain would have been avoided. We use to have such confidence in Falls Road Animal Hospital for the quality care they have given to our three dogs for over 18 years. Unfortunately several amazing doctors have left and the quality of care has significantly dropped with prices skyrocketing. The practice seems more about the money and less about the quality of care. We will NOT return! We are so thankful for our doctor who caught this preventing further damage but unfortunately she is blind in her eye. It also took several attempts for them to fax our dogs medical report to our doctor even though we filled out the proper documentation to do so. If you have an emergency consider Towson!

Had an amazing experience with these people. My cat fell from a four story building and I was not emotionally ready to handle much. I was so happy to have such a helpful experience and felt no anxiety during the whole process. Thumbs up and many thanks

Maybe this is a good place for some, but I am having nothing but terrible experiences here. As I write this, I am waiting for them to fill a prescription from 2 days ago. My dog is undergoing chemotherapy elsewhere and is horribly nauseous- he has not been able to keep any food down since his treatment. The specialist sent the prescription to help with this to Falls Road AH on Wednesday afternoon. I called multiple times yesterday, Thursday, on the status and was not told until the last call the there was no one in the pharmacy to fill it. I called again this morning, Friday, and they said they had the request and could not tell me when to expect it to be ready. I am so upset and sick over how bad my dog feels, and they have not been very compassionate. This whole experience is in addition to other problems I've had here which I won't get into now. I would not bring my pet here for anything other than their routine check-up and shots. I don't typically write bad reviews but want to save others from going through this experience when their pet is in pain.

In general, you probably should not go here. I took my dog here for an emergency (nausea/vomiting thought to be bloat/gastric dilatation without volvulus), and I had just moved to the area so didn't have a primary vet yet. I am a physician, so my perspective is medical in nature -- Medically, I think they were overall competent (though this was only one very common veterinary issue, so I can't speak to their general clinical skills over a broad range of diagnosis). My dog was monitored and taken care of and got better. However, THEY ARE VERY VERY VERY EXPENSIVE!! She was kept over night, got just a couple of x-rays and some gas medicine, anti-nausea medication, and pain medication and it was $1800! They will give you an estimate when you walk in - my final bill looked nothing like the original estimate. When I first received my final bill it was ~$2200. I asked why it was this much if she didn't even get the barium intervention/barium x-rays that they included in the high end of the estimate ($2100). The front desk person gave me a weird look, and then was like, "do you want me to check on this?" I said yes. She then went to the back, and came back out with $400 taken off the price because they had included too many x-rays (that they never did) and too much medication (that they never gave). I was made to feel ashamed that I was questioning the price in the first place, but they made a huge mistake on the billing. Advice in sum: 1) Don't go here 2) Don't go here 3) If you absolutely HAVE to go here because no other place is open and it is a life-threatening emergency, google other places to see if any other 24 hour vet is open that has even marginally better reviews. 4) If you end up going here, sorry that happened to you, REVIEW YOUR BILL VERY CAREFULLY, given my experience, I'm sure I'm not the only one (I don't know if it was intentional, but it is suspect...)

I took my cat to see Dr Anthony today and she and her tech Julie were really great to us. They treated my cat with compassion and me with kindness and respect...and they were on-time to boot. Next time we need to go to Falls Rd I will request Dr Anthony again. Really pleased--thanks y'all.

Having rabbits and guinea pigs found our family searching for a vet for exotic pets. I have been pleased and know I can trust FRAH for their care. Rare problems for other vets are 'been there, done that' for their docs. It's been 15 years and though routine and emergency situations FRAH is there 24/7.

ALLISON Yood

I'm in the middle of a really terrible experience with this animal hospital. I paid a lot money to get some tests done on my cat that isn't peeing normally. They asked me to bring her back a second time to take more urine the next day because they hadn't extracted enough. We brought her back which was stressful for her, but people make mistakes we figured. During this visit, the vet told us she would be out for two days. I assumed that our case would be passed on to another vet, but this wasn't the case. I've left messages, asking about my girl, but although they have said that they would, no one has gotten back to me. At this point they seem really neutral about the wellbeing of my cat. If she has a UTI, her infection could spread to other parts of her body over the several days that have passed since our initial visit. I am so concerned for my cat, and angry about the lack of service that we have received. I will update this as it progresses, but right now my advice is to choose another vet for your family.

Meredith Brown

If you don't have the patience for long waits, this is NOT the place for you. Other than the lack of speed, I really can't complain. I've liked everyone I've dealt with here over the years. Excellent care for my doggies!

Tim Dobry

Our first emergency and the entire staff here was great. We are glad there is a 24 hour facility like this. Our pup needed an x-ray and luckily just had a sprained hip.

I will never take my fur babies any where else.

I took my cat here to be declawed and neutered. I was told I would have be charged $400. After dropping him off, I was informed that I would have to come back and get him because he is too young and only one of his dropped. They eventually agreed to just do it. When I came to get him they told me he was very aggressive and told he had to be further sedated therefore I was charged extra, which I don’t understand since he’s need to be sedated either way for the procedure. My cat is very kind and friendly to anyone, even when I take him to a new environment he has never once been aggressive. Now that I look at him his right paw is very crooked and he constantly balances on the other paw.

"Doctor leaves at 8pm" wow thanks nice to know your "24hour" animal hospital is useless after 8pm

Dannene Drummond

I saw the commercial for their low cost neutering. My local vet wanted over $300 to neuter our cat. So I called and easily made an appointment at Falls Road Animal. It was an easy drop off and pick up and I am at least $250 richer because of it. Had no problems and the cat was fine. They didn't try to get me to buy anything extra and I even got a free month of VET insurance (though we never had to use it). If you are looking for low cost neutering, this is a great deal!

Karen Rolfes

I had never been to FRAH before. Our dog had been sick for about a month and visits to our local vet didn’t seem to solve the issues. Everyone from the front desk(Ellie I believe) to our tech Dylan and Dr. Kaeding were very compassionate and thorough and professional. Our dog was diagnosed with Pancreatitis within a fair amount of time in a busy hospital. Cancer of the spleen was also a great possibly. My family decided to euthanize our beloved Boh after 24 hours of treatment......instead of pursuing expensive, non-guarantee, alternatives. This was on July 4th, a holiday. We were treated with compassion and understanding that will always be greatly appreciated.

Frenchette Rosemond

We had an excellent experience at Falls Road Animal Hospital. The staff were friendly and made my first experience with them memorable. We are happy that we found them for our bichon.

Tonie Brown

Very pleased with the care of my animal and the treatment we received when using Falls Road Animal Hospital. The warm treatment of my dog was appreciated along with the genuine concern for his problem. And the cost was not one to break my pocket. Thanks

Jalina Bowers

Several years ago I brought my dog here- I called before bringing him and let them know he had gotten into some chewing gum. They informed me to bring him in immediately and proceeded to charge me over $600 to give him karo syrup to save his life. They literally gouged me just because Google was wasn’t available to tell me what I should do. They treated him but they shouldn’t take advantage of overwhelmed pet owners either.

James Lowe

This place is by far the worst vet I've ever been to. I brought my dog in for an annual check up after needing to change veterinarians because we moved. Since we live one block away, I thought I'd try Falls Road Animal Hospital. We had an appointment scheduled and waited over 45 minutes before giving up and leaving. This place looks like it hasn't been updated in 30 years and the staff was unfriendly and very unprofessional. Not a place I'd trust my pet with. No wonder it has such terrible reviews everywhere.

Rachel Schapiro

They have helped me in emergency situations and have been great. They also took great care of my rat when she continuously had dental problems. I just felt the care was inconsistent, very hit or miss. I also knew I had to set aside a couple of hours to he there, even when I had an appointment, because I would wait for a while to be seen.

Arianna Valle

I had to wait a little longer than I would have liked b/c an emergency (injured pup) was brought in. Not the hospitals fault, but should be noted that is a possibility with a hospital / vet combo. I bring my cat here - they are fairly priced, friendly, and clearly adore animals. I recommend them to everyone!

Richard Zielaskiewicz

Falls Road AH is a scary place. Cold and deceptive. I walked out with my very sick dog in the middle of our consultation.

Lauri Jenkins

My husband found an injured beagle in the middle of a median a few years ago in Baltimore. He was able to coax the dog to him and put him in his car and drove to Falls Road Animal Hospital. They sent him and the injured beagle away because we couldn't commit to an unspecified vet bill. We eventually found a different vet in Baltimore County who was more invested in the welfare of homeless, abandoned, and injured animals in our community, and they treated the dog and arranged for foster care. Cute commercials but it's clearly all about the money.

Nick Karsos

The kindness, compassion, and prompt service that was on display today was remarkable. I am highly appreciative of everything they did. From immediate action in the care of my dog to explaining the situation and helping resolve any future issues. It’s never fun having to go to any doctor. The staff here made it barable and comforting. If only I could give more stars.

Jackie Wolf

My daughter brought her pet rabbit here for a checkup and a couple of issues. She had a wonderful experience. Everyone she spoke to was friendly. The vet, Dr. Emily, was gentle with the rabbit and patient with my daughter, answering all her questions (this is our first rabbit). My daughter made an appointment and was in and out fairly quickly.

Donna Liz

I have a seven year old Yorkie. She gets her routine care here. She has excellent health and has never had any emergencies. I took her in for what turned out to be an ear infection and the staff was professional and friendly. I have also used the groomer and boarding.

Lisa Christensen

Falls road animal hospital has been and is the greatest place for me and my pets. They are always so kind and loving to all of the animals. And they truly make all efforts to keep everyone happy. The beat thing I ever did for my babies is find this hospital.

Emily Holland

While trying to schedule a visit for my 5 year old indoor only cat to get an evaluation for flea medication the staff was terribly rude. I had been a client of the Falls Road Animal Hospital for the last year because they offer longer hours and can accommodate a nurses busy schedule. However, they informed me that the earliest appointment would be in 3 weeks, but I was welcome to come in under emergency circumstances for an additional $90 fee. For fleas. Working in healthcare myself I do not consider fleas to be an emergency. I politely informed them I would seek out a different vet who could get me in sooner.

Candy Carr

Excellent service from the staff and the Veterinarian! This is my office of choice for my cats! Very satisfied with service!

Holly Lemonis

My cat was attacked by a dog and suffered severe injuries. Unfortunately, he stopped breathing on the way to the animal hospital. The staff offered me options while showing an extraordinary amount of compassion toward a nearly hysterical pet owner. Despite the loss of my pet, I could not miss what a phenomenal staff they have and their incredible performance in helping me through a most traumatic experience. Their swift response, honesty, and compassion were greatly appreciated, and strongly remembered. Their services in many other areas are no less commendable. They offer a wealth of information and services for new pet owners and lifelong pet lovers, alike. They provide excellent care and products for daily health and emergency services; as well as grooming facilities and spay/neuter. I highly recommend them and all the services they offer for pets of many kinds. I know I will be returning soon under much happier circumstances as my remaining cat grows closer to her delivery of a new litter soon. :) And a special thank you once again to the staff from the evening of 6/26/13. Thank you almost does not seem like enough.

Richard Bacchus

Be prepared to wait a LONG time. It is ALWAYS a 40 minute wait and 15 minutes to check out. The staff is nice. You certainly get the feeling Dr Hammond is just in it for the money now. Basically they are a competent veterinary mill that sucks at time management. The staff a doctors are good.

Cathy Dennis

All the staff was kind and took the time to explain our options for a surgery for our dog.

william fink

If at all possible, avoid this place. My pet had an pretty bad eye injury that needed immediate surgery. Took my dog here because it was an after hour emergency. The prices are high, but I was expecting that, do to it being an after hours emergency. What I was not expecting is the poor communication and horrible bedside manor from the tech and vets. I was told that there was a good chance they could save my dogs eye but if not she would need another surgery in two weeks to remove the eye, at the same cost as the initial surgery. When I asked about the follow-up appointment, the tech told me to just come in on same day of the week and the same vet will remove the stitches. The day came and that vet refused to see my dog because we did not have an appointment (again I was told no need to make one). After my wife refused to leave until our dog got seen another vet took are dog in the hall way in the back and removed the stitches and immediately said the eye needs to be removed. What they did not know is I was expecting that and have already scheduled a follow up with my vet. So the next day my dog is prepared for the surgery at my vet and I get a phone call that my vet will not remove the eye because the report from falls road is incorrect and the muscle behind my dogs eye are fine. There is no reason to remove the eye. I feel like this place uses the emotions of the pet owner to extract money from the owner's wallet. My vet said they would never have suggest to take the risk of initial surgery and would have suggested removing right away because there is a much higher risk of infection the with the procedure Fall's Road performed. But now that we did take the risk the muscle appear to functioning properly. So all in all, my impression is they suggested the initial procedure knowing that it does not have a good success rating and then followed-up by saying the additional procedure is needed (second Falls Road vet's words "the eye can pop out at anytime") with out proper examination. I wish there were more options for emergency situations because I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Tammie Lesane

The service was great all with the exception of when I applied for the Credit Care. The girl (short brown skin) came back to tell me "you were declined, I need to let the doctor know", very loud and rude I might add. Other than that the service was great.

Marisa Tate

My cat Eygpt was very sick. I brought her to falls road and they took very good care of her. Thank you so much Dr. Marisa Stone and your staff for all your hard work. Eygpt thanks you

Erika Lessner

Yesterday was the first time my Buddha boy met Dr. Zier. After years of searching for a doc that would be patient with him and genuinely care for him - I finally found her! I am over the moon to have met such a wonderful staff and Buddha seemed to have loved them too! Would highly reccommend Dr. Zier and Falls Road Animal Hospital. The 45 minute drive from home was worth every minute!

Sandra Baker

Falls Road is the best! Knowledgeable caring, and honest staff. Not necessarily the cheapest, but definitely the best quality. Vets are very clear about exactly what they're doing and why; I've never paid for a service that wasn't needed. Absolutely love this place, it's the only vet that I trust.

さいちょう

Be ready to pay over $500! Sadly they had to take my baby away here but.... The employees all seemed tired but used to the scenario. There was certain things that should have been described better because it wasnt very understandable from a non vet point of view. To be a good hospital, there should be payment plans just like humans get payment plans! Our animals are just as important as us and should be able to have a choice at more life the same as we do. I cant rate a hospital without more monetary options as good because it doesnt make animal care accessible to owners. I feel like this place was super over priced but it was nice to have night emergency service.. probably would only come back in emergency....even then i doubt it.

Jodee Cheyenne

I had a 2:15pm appointment, and finally gave up and left at 3:20pm. Drove 45 minutes to this vet because, the prices were reasonable. But, ended up being a waste of time. The waiting room was clean, staff seemed friendly. However, it doesn't seem as though they schedule accurate time slots. Side note: There were children in the waiting room. The facility had Law and Order: SVU playing on the television which is highly inappropriate for children to be watching.

Joanna Macht

I have been taking my pets to Falls Road for over 20 years. However, I will not be going back. The quality of service, professionalism and treatment has deteriorated. I won't go into the details here, but it is best if you go to the Towson ER. The Practice Manager and the Emergency Vet in particular are probably violating ethics for the profession, and have deplorable interpersonal skills.

Doris Washington

Worst place in the world to take your pet if you love them and want them well. They killed my rabbit. I took my baby to them because he wasn't breathing right. First off I had to come up with money and a lot of it before they would even look at him. Some of us don't have money or credit like that but they refuse to work with you or bill you. So after begging and borrowing to get my baby treated they looked at him for less then 5 minutes told me he had a cold. A $700.oo dollar cold and would be fine. He wasn't fine and past away!!! I know people will say you shouldn't have a pet if you can't afford it but that's not true. We love our pets as much as you and can care for them just as well except maybe finacial emergencies. For people who love animals these people offer no hope or help without money a real disgrace. Also 700.oo for a cold and sent away for my baby to die anyway is a sin. DON'T take any pet you love here EVER!!!!

Suzannah Mullen

The vets and vet techs were all very sweet. My kitty, Gus, was seen right away. The vets were very gentle with him even though he was scared. He had come in for digestive issues (I thought he may have eaten one of my hair ties and that he had a blockage in his intestines) but the vet said that he was most likely sensitive to the food we were giving him. I got medicine and special food for him right away and they gave him an IV of fluids just in case he was getting dehydrated. They really care about their animal patients and it's a relief to know that I can bring him back there any time of day or night if he had an emergency.

BEWARE OF THEIR INCOMPETENCE, to them it's all about the money for an emergency case. The vet at Falls Road Animal Hospital incompetently misdiagnosed my dog's illness during an emergency visit on a Sunday evening 2 years ago. Dr. Molesworth at Main Street Vet is and has been my dog's vet since 2006; unfortunately they do not have an ER. So, I was forced to take her to Falls Road Animal Hospital. I explained to the vet that as she was walking down the stairs she suddenly vomited; then a few minutes later I noticed she was having difficulty breathing. The vet then told me that "these types of dogs" tend to get tracheal collapse, but he wouldn't know without a bunch of "expensive tests". That he would need to keep her overnight and possibly in the morning she would be referred to an outside specialist. To do this, I would need to pay them $1,500. Of course I found a way to pay them immediately. As I started to drive home I felt something was not right so I went back and asked to see her one more time. I was allowed to go back to where they hold the dogs and found her in an oxygen case with no circulating air. English Bulldogs do not do well in heat and this is especially dangerous when they already have compromised breathing. I immediately took her out of the case and found her tongue turning blue. I pointed this out to the vet and he put an ice pack on her back and brought a fan to her case. I was torn on what to do as I felt if I took her home I had no way of providing oxygen to her, so reluctantly I left her. I came back early the next morning and took her out of Falls Road Animal Hospital against their advice. At this time her breathing was worse and she was in bad condition. I was terrified and drove directly to Dr. Molesworth. Even though I did not have an appointment Dr. Molesworth took her immediately. I told him the same as I had explained to the Falls Road Animal Hospital vet. Dr. Molesworth said it sounds like aspiration pneumonia, he did the appropriate tests which confirmed his immediate diagnosis and he saved her life. She was in Main Street Vet hospital for a week and received the proper professional care she needed. Oh, and by the way, the bill for saving her life and 1 week of care with Dr. Molesworth was only $600. Falls Road Animal Hospital takes advantage of clients in distress in fear of losing their precious companion and gouges them in their time of anguish. I feel if I did not go back that night my English Bully girl would not be here with me today. If you love your dog, STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

Harrison Fortney

Falls road animal hospital is by far the best animal hospital in the Baltimore Maryland area... I recently had to take my animal there because she was acting strange and the extremely Knowledged and experienced veterinarians diagnosed her in less than two days with a kidney problem, they then removed one of her kidneys and 5 days later she is back home doing amazing and looking just as happy as she was before. Falls road animal hospital saved my dogs life!

Karen Smith

First I like it for the convinced, it was my first time going there had a very sick cat, never been there before seen the place on tv and to my surprise, they would not check her out before I put down a deposit, I told them I would go to the bank while there check her out but I was not allowed to do that, so I scooped up my cat, drove to Roland Rd to the Bank of America withdrew a $1000 then take my cat back, they ran test kept her over night, still did not tell me what was really happening to my baby, run more tests, keep getting around from the doctors left messages my cat still not eating and getting frail. To make long story short, they made $4000+ off me and my cat is dead. The final hours of her life I rush her to a different ER with all the reporters (which they did not want to give me or talk to my regular vet about what was happening) they gave me, my baby die on the way to the hospital, a doctor took her examined her read the report and said she as cancer, why were they running all these tests and never mention she as cancer. I was angry, I felt like they are more about the money then the care and love for the animals. I had been to other hospital and no one demand money first except them, sadly the location tell the kind of money it surrounded by, I have 2 others pets and I would never go back there ever.

Lauren Percz

They have always handled my animals with excellent care but there are things that just bug me. My hedgehog had to get her eye removed and they were very helpful and talked to me every step of the way so I was in the loop. Dr. Herko did a great job and I'm so thankful for that. However, this cost me over $1000 which I have later come to learn should only have cost half as much. I was charged almost $200 for a 2-day stay which was really just 25 hours. I was told I could come pick her up in the morning once someone called and no one ever did. So I got charged for a whole day's stay for her being there one more hour. They are very expensive and not too willing to help you on that. The owners face is literally covering the walls of every room and that is off-putting and gross and creepy. I don't care how many celebrities he's met with...just help my pet. I don't want to feel that my money is going into his pocket to travel and meet these people. I also wonder that if they're doing so well, why they cant update their office passed 1985 and expand it. Every time I go there I have to wait at least an hour (and an hour to check out) because they're so busy so they definitely need the room. Otherwise, they're very nice people and are very helpful in every other way.

Angel Amor

Falls Road Animal Hospital is extremely unprofessional. It took over an hour to be seen. I brought my dog in with a paw that was bleeding. It wasn’t a little blood either. The blood was coming from what looked like to be his toenail. It had to be deeper than that. All we had were paper towels and it took over and hour for someone to give us a towel. Blood was all over my clothes and hands. Other dogs that came were able to go straight in the back. A woman came with her small dog and went straight in the back because she started crying. She went straight into the back because she cut her dogs toenails too short. So I guess I had to be dramatic. Is that it? Do tears help you get seen faster? I know that they worried about getting paid. The first thing they worried about was the money.

Shanice copeland

Worse place I've went to. The lady that was on the night shift kept insinuating because of my skin color I'm broke, and dont have credit to take care of my pet. You don't insult someone when my pockets are unknown to you. Never will I advise someone to go here nor will I go here again

CG 1031

Falls Road is an excellent full service animal hospital. The staff is knowledgable, caring, and attentive. Each time I visit, they are thorough in their medical assessments and keep me well informed about the health of my pets. The vets and techs are very proactive with preventative health pet care. I have been a client of Falls Road Animal Hospital off and on for over 12+ years for several cherished pets. Over the years, I have used their medical services, grooming services, kenneling, and doggie daycare -- all with great success. Falls Road provides quality care that I can consistently rely upon. Due to the excellent service they provide, it's truly no surprise that they have been awarded as Baltimore's Best Animal Hospital and are also nationally recognized for their veterinary care. I trust them with my pets. I highly recommend this animal hospital.

shelly fedash

I did have to wait a little while but there was a medical emergency that came in prior to me. The vet and the technician were really friendly and had great rapport with my dog (who is often very skittish with new people). The vet took time to explain the medication and was concern with pin pointing exactly what he needed. Overall it was a good experience and I'm happy we decided to try this establishment.

Ashley Bell

Dont not go here dont do it i went in on 10/15/18 for my cat she had fleas and she was acting funny so they kept her over night and and the got rid of the fleas and told me that i would be able to get her back the next day so here it is 10/16/18 i go get her they said she was perfectly fine to go home so with in a couple of hours my cat chole died in my arms....they dont do there jobs dont go there at all please save your time and your money and save ur animal life

Shawn Durning

Most of the time you will have to wait, whether you have an appointment or not. Last time I went it was a hour before I saw a vet and I had an appointment. Response is usually they had a lot of emergencies.

Kevin Fischer

They lost their way a long time ago. It is clear that they are about maximizing profits and minimizing care. Charges a $90 office fee when I just needed my ferret euthanized. That was on top of what they charge for euthanization. Did not see a doctor. No bloodwork nothing but you still get the charge. It was more expensive to euthanize my ferret than to treat her. They are also quick to take your animal but will not let you near them until you pay your tab. Next time i will try the pet ER in Columbia. They are the same distance for me.

Okay, Since this has happened more than once over an extended period of time. Have to give kudos to Mr. Malachi of Falls Road Animal Hospital. In the past I noticed his exceptional professional acumen and affinity to understand how to communicate information with succinctness. That is applauded. I hope Falls Road recognizes the members of their staff with this type of ability as it affords you the opportunity to manage the chaos you often have with so many calls and visits. These incidents where I called started where my confidence and trust was eroding in Falls Road. Call was going south until Malachi took the phone. I told my self then (at least last a year ago) I was going to write something... I didn't...well...it's clear. He's consistent. And appreciated. Our little one isn't better yet...we've spent $x,xxx so far in just 1 week but you know what? It makes a @#$&% of a difference when you have GOOD PEOPLE communicating with you. Good job Sir!

Jay Denburg

Last night we had a medical emergency regarding our dog. I rushed our dog to Fall Road Animal Hospital at 2am. Their website state they are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The sign says the same outside the building and on the door. The office was locked and dark. No sign on the door saying they are closed. I knocked on the door for 10 minutes while my wife tried to call. Someone came to the door to tell us they have not been open at night for 2 months and there are no doctors on call. AT LEAST POST A SIGN ON THE DOOR that you are closed. Their on hold telephone message is that they have a doctor there always. I tried calling to speak with the manager and gave up after waiting on hold for 20 minutes.

Falls Road Animal Hospital has been our family Vet and pooch-pampering choice for over 25 years. All of our pets have received top notch care and pampering at Falls Road Animal Hospital. If you are looking for a Vet that's committed to healing and providing a space for your pet to enjoy being a pet, give them a try, You won't be disappointed.

Marissa Lewis

I had an unfortunate and scary insident with my baby ferret yesterday, this was the only exotic hospital open at 6pm so we rushed up there. While yes I was there from 6:30pm to 9pm I did not care, I was greatful they took her back as soon as I showed up and put her on oxygen until the exotic vet arrived. I've never owned a ferret so I was terrified of her outcome but at 9pm the vet came and assured me her vitals were just fine, she was as fiesty as normal and to monitor her for the next few days since I couldn't afford X-rays. I can't thank the vet staff enough for being so kind to me during this time even though I was complete mess.

Ashlee Benge

Our pup had an emergency surgery here after complications due to a spay surgery performed at a different clinic. Due to the severity, the surgery resulted in a week long stay with Falls Road while our pup healed. Dr. Barker and Dr. Herko were amazing during the entire process. We really appreciated the updates and how transparent they were about what was going on with our pup. All of the vet techs we met were also great. We would absolutely recommend this clinic for any emergency.

Susie Lemon

I would NEVER take my baby boy back to this vet EVER!!! My first and worse experience ever! I was overcharged by 1K+ for my puppy. The front desk is poorly ran and they are rude and unprofessional the whole time they had my baby in the "observation" room they were so loud that I can hear them with the door closed across the hall talking amongst each other about my concerns. It was just weird the entire situation and visit!!! Please DO NOT take your pet babies there. They quote the bare minimal price of $90 for the actual exam, but by the time you leave you are paying over 1K dollars!!! They are a rip off, unprofessional, nasty, and mean, oh and the rooms made me feel like I was in a interrogating room!! Hahaha... I HATED that in the end I had to deal with a nasty cigarette smelling lady by the name of "Shannon" that has "16 years" in the field

Craig Fabian

The worst decision a pet owner has to make was one I recently made, when to end the life of a buddy, that has been loyal and awesome throughout the years. Our recent decision came on the heels of a cancer diagnosis. Dr Anthony took time from her schedule to explain everything, come back in and reexplain so we could be fully informed. Once having made that decision she guided us through and gave us her full attention, the staff and all that had to follow was taken care of prior to the procedure. Our grief while great at the loss of our beloved dog was made a little more easy by the kindness and compassion shown by everyone we came in contact with that day.

Clare Rita Hynes

My parents were in from New York with our family dog, she had gotten got hurt at the dog park in Baltimore. She was bleeding, needed stitches on her ear, and her dewclaw was hurt. We waited two and half hours to be seen, others who had walked in after us were seen before us. This was ridiculous, we left and took care of her on our own.

Pamala Dishmon

Falls Road Animal Hospital really took care of my pet bird (Dove).. The staff was very attentive and kept me updated on Charlie(my pet Dove) status. Sending my appreciation to all of the staff especially the doctor on duty. For the promptness of paying attention to the care of my bird; he has survived to see more years to come. Thank you all Pam D

Suhaydi Reyes

If I can give a zero I would! I took my exotic pet for an amputation with Dr. Anthony, rather than scheduling a follow up appointment to remove the stitches while being released we were told, the dr would call us. Every week my husband called but was told that he would have to wait for her to call us and schedule the appointment. My pet was 1 of 4 and was used to being with her brothers but because of her stitches had to be kept separate. Sugar gliders do not do well on their own and need to be with others, she passed away today. Thanks for nothing Dr. Anthony, your lack of professionalism and curtesy is astounding and I will be looking to see if there is anything that I can do to report you and your lack of actions. Her death could have been avoided.

Shannon Riser-Willis Security

Always there when you need them and they truly care about your furry family member!

Dan L.

I had a super experience at Falls Road Animal Hospital. My dog was great from the time I picked him up. The staff that I had the pleasure of dealing with were courteous and friendly. A smile goes a long way and that's what they wore at all times. I would recommend this Animal Hospital without hesitation!

George Nirappukandathil

The care of animals is pretty much standard but their prices are too high. Never buy prescription medications from here. I buy from PetPlus almost at 50% less and no problem in returning unopened medicines within 15 days but Fallsroad Animal hospital won’t take back once it leaves their premises. I had a prescription filled there by mistake. When I called them next day one staff member told me to bring it back and they will take back. I went there with the medicine. The staff at the counter told me they will not take back medicine once it left their premises. I had no use of the medicine. So I lost $88.96 the cost of medicine and also three hours of work and wages.

Margaret Swanson

I brought my Aussie in with ataxia and possible negative response to a new drug. Dr. Herko was caring and thorough. It turned out later to be an episode of idiopathic vestibular disease, but the excellent emergency care reassured me that she was not in danger.

Kinkela Harkins

Very knowledgeable vets that are willing to work with you! They helped out my little dachshund when I took her in as an emergency case and, with their help, she got better very quickly. I would definitely recommend going to this vet. The wait times are long for emergency cases because they have emergencies and scheduled appointments but it is worth it and they do get you in as quickly as they can.

Caitlyn Merwin

Better as an emergency vet. We used to take our cats here for all their needs, but we've found another place for non-emergency visits. They do not honor appointment times at all. And even after you've seen the vet - you will be back in the waiting room for another hour while your medication/records are prepared. Meanwhile, I have a terrified cat in a carrier in utter misery. There is an overall sense that the staff are overworked and not appreciated enough.

Lisa Seacat DeLuca

One of the most expensive vets in Baltimore. Spent over an hour here today. Dr saw my dog for 2 minutes. That said the doctors are very friendly. If you are in a hurry I recommend trying somewhere else.

Betsy Shulman

I'm a very satisfied, long-distance user... My mother's dog, age 12, ate a bone at Thanksgiving that he munched down happily, but two days later he was severely constipated. (Yes, I know, don't feed turkey bones to your dog!) My mother is unable to drive, and I live in NYC, so our dog walker took my mom's beagle-mix to his first visit to this veterinary practice. I called in advance to describe the dog's symptoms to the front desk, so when dog and walker arrived, they took them immediately, and called me to start the admitting and payment process. I asked the costs in advance, and that's exactly what they charged.... $90 for the exam, $200 for 2 X-rays to check for blockage, and about $30 for two oral medications. Processing the records took more time than expected, but not a big deal given it was a Sunday, and they took my mom's pup immediately. Very happy ending all around. I noticed that reviews are super positive or totally negative. I was very pleased, so that's my 2 cents.

Lana Hill

The care at Falls Road was exceptional! Dr. Kelly Zier and the staff on the day and evening that I had to put my belived 19 year old cat to sleep took care of both me and Kitty in the most thoughtful, and medically competent way. I truly appreciate them for the care they gave during this incredibly hard time.

Called Falls Road Animal Hospital last night about having my Blue Gold Macaw seen for fractured wing. They told me to bring her in to be seen tonight. Sat for hour and half and staff said it would be hours to have her seen. Never so discusted with a vet like this. Taking my parrot elsewhere. So cruddy!!!

Shelomythe Nelson

Had an absolute wonderful experience with our bearded dragon's first visit. The staff and vet made us feel very comfortable. We plan on boarding them there as well. Great place!

Brandie Brownson

Took my baby there to lay her to rest. The staff was so kind, and gave us all the time we wanted to say goodbye. They even let us hold her as she passed.

Horrible, Management!! I purchased this tooth brush kit, They were out of this product, at the store next door that they own and obviously need to pay more attention too. this kit had been opened and taped back together for resale. I did not see the kit till I arrived home (see pictures) I, immediately called and tried to get in touch with management. She was gone for the day. They told me. I just got my files back today from there.after reading what DEB manager wrote was RE: service issues, feels like we are purposefully being deceitful to him. SEE pictures and you decide, Scotch taped and the silver tab just feel off ,that seals the paste in the tube, There was no mention of this if her notes. Make sure you have a lot of cash and or credit on your card, because they swipe it first. This place is a rip off.I had to put up $2,200.00 before they would look at my Rocky, RIP, my son. The little girl came in the next day. With a clip board after being told he was to sick for treatment. And said you'll be happy that you'll be getting back $241.00 dollars,I wanted to smack her with the clip board. But after reviewing the padded bill. I was refunded $400.and change. That was the experience I had. I"m glad my friend was present at the time of this. Worst customer service ever. Heartless staff and vet. was Anthony .

Honestly I hadn't written this review until now because in the back of my head I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt... but after reading several reviews that were similar to my experience I am ready to share if it will prevent someone else from experiencing something unfortunate. I took my 6 year old cat here about 2 years ago ~ he hadn't been doing so well lost a lot of weight etc. Took him here and he was diagnosed with diabetes, not sure if any x-rays or bloodwork were taken etc. Huge bill, and we had to get him human diabetes medicine as well. 1-2 months later our cat is dead... and they tell us he actually didn't have diabetes... he had water in his lungs and died because of that... We lost our cat b/c they failed to find out what the actual problem was... I really think he could have been saved if someone who actually cared/knew helped us. Will never bring any of my pets back here. Almost laughable they are emailing me to leave a google review... well here it is : - )

If you have been away from Falls Road Animal Hospital for a few years, I urge you to give them another try. They have truly stepped up their game! My husband and I have lost two elderly cats in the last two years. We were blown away by the care they received at Falls Road. We were even more blown away by the extraordinary kindness and compassion we received when it was time to say goodbye to our animals. We have recently adopted a new kitten and never even thought of taking him anywhere else. Dr. Allen is, without question, the best around. He is hands on and loving with our animals and more than willing to answer any questions we have during our appointments. Additionally, he and all of the doctors are available by phone and respond incredibly quickly to messages left for them. The front desk staff is where I have seen the real difference in the last few years. I have done the leg work. I have shopped around. This staff is amazing. They know my animals by name, care about how they are doing and make me feel like family every time I walk in the door. Thank you FRAH for everything!!

I brought in a 7 month old ferret due to a bowel obstruction. It was an emergency vet situation, and the staff was respectful, courteous, and extremely good at putting my mind at ease. They were up front with all potential costs, and communicated throughout the entire process. These guys brought him back to full recovery without doing any unnecessary work. Overall it was a great experience!

Every time we've taken our dog here, we've waited almost 2 hours (and we have made appointments each time). The last time we went, my dog had fleas. The vet didn't catch it, even though she did a "flea comb" on her. She put her on 2 different types of medication for allergies and something for her skin...we spent about $300 with Falls Rd. Vet before taking her elsewhere and they caught it immediately. A few flea shampoo baths later and she was fine. We've since stopped going to Falls Rd. Animal Hospital.

Dr Herko is not a good doctor. Definitely very money oriented here. I saw Dr Herko there a few times, this last time was definitely the worst. Won’t go into details but do not let your pet be treated by him

I had to take one of my Golden Doodles in the middle of the night because she was acting a little unusual, don't remember the exact issue. It has been a couple of months, but she was fine. The vet on duty was super, and very caring. This is a wonderful and loving place, thank you to everyone at Falls Road animal Hospital. Sincerely Howard S Deares

I have used this facility for 15 years. They are always there when I need them and extremely dedicated! I feel safe taking my pets to Falls Road Animal Hospital.

My 13 yr old dachshund has been having bleeding with urination that lasts about a week and this occurs two times a year for a few years. He also developed a lump in his groin and a fat behind. I told his previous vet about this and they did nothing, but antibiotics, bloodwork, and urine tests every year when it happened. This last time he had clots and wasn't feeling well. I took him to Falls Rd and they did an examination which showed he had a perineal hernia. They got us an urgent ultrasound which revealed many more things. He went to surgery in a few days. I was updated about his care consistently. The day of the E.R. visit to the time of discharge. The surgeons called me prior to surgery to let me know what they found on exam, more hernias, and they also called me after the surgery for an extensive update. I trusted them with my baby's life and they did an awesome job. He is feeling so much better. He's a little warrior. I will continue my routine care with Falls Rd from this point on. All of the staff were friendly. I appreciate the docs and techs for taking care of him around the clock.

Falls Road takes beyond extraordinary care of my beloved Puccini cat. So comforting to know that in an emergency I can drive there 24 x 7 x 365 and find a full service hospital with big team spirit. Very appreciated !

Lauren Snyder

They've taken excellent care of my rats, and the staff is really nice. Every time I've been there, everyone is working very hard to accommodate every patient and family. The walk-in wait times can sometimes be long, but I can't complain. Being able to walk in and get care when needed has been vital, and the staff assesses the degree of emergency immediately. The downside is that I've sometimes had to be a walk-in because I couldn't get an appointment for over a week. So while I didn't have a true emergency, I couldn't wait that long for an appointment, and then had to pay the emergency fee. However, I am happy with the quality and availability of care, and will continue to go there.

Thea Lenna

I first went to Falls Road Animal Hospital as an ER patient when one of my ferrets was injured. I was impressed with the empathy of the office staff as well as the the professionalism of the medical staff. Besides the emergency fee ($86 up front for after hours visits), I did not feel I was overcharged, though I did wish their payment options were more diverse (cash, MasterCard, Visa only, all fees to be paid at time of visit). My second visit was when another ferret of mine passed away suddenly. The staff was very empathetic and caring, and did not charge us for an examination of the body or a lab sample they took to determine cause of death; my boyfriend was with her when she passed and they were kind enough to allow him to hold onto the remains until I was able to see her, explaining the only other option would be to freeze her and I would probably not want to view the body in that state. They also helped me make arrangements for the remains, which I was very grateful for. I recently went back for a yearly checkup and vaccines for my remaining two ferrets and I was not disappointed with the service I received. Both the vet techs and the veterinarians were extremely professional and very personable and knowledgeable. I also received a follow-up call a week later to check if all was okay, which I very much appreciated. Overall, I would recommend this vet without hesitation. The staff is caring and professional all around, and you can tell they truly care about the animals they treat. They also have dedicated exotic pet specialists, which is very important to me as a ferret caretaker; the exotic pet fees are lower than other places I've used too. This is a wonderful practice!!

We have been coming to Falls Road Animal hospital for years, and have always received great care and they are always accommodating. However, the reason for my low rating is because the wait times are unbearable. The fee for an appointment is relatively high, and you wait for a very long time, no matter what time of day. Last visit with my two cats, we had an appointment at 4:30 for our annual checkup and vaccines. We were called back by the tech pretty promptly; however, we waited for the vet FOREVER. And did not get out of there until after 6:30. These long waits have been pretty consistent the past few visits.

I had a pet rabbit, Papaya, less than a year old, who my vet, Dr. Anthony, convinced me I should have spayed as soon as possible. I wasn't sure about it since my bunny was still so young and spaying is such a huge surgery for a small animal, especially one with no male rabbits around, but Dr. Anthony convinced me it was for the best to do it asap because of the risk of ovarian cancer female rabbits have later in life, so I did it. I had my bunny spayed and I kept a close eye on her, looking for signs on how she was recovering. Everything seemed fine and then 2 days later, I woke up and she was seizing. I rushed her to the vet office, but it was too late and she died shortly after I brought her in. A vet tech or receptionist, I'm not sure which, was sent out to tell me the news and charge me the cremation fees. I never heard anything ever again from Dr. Anthony. No apology, no condolences, no explanation. Looking back now, after having done some research, I know I shouldn't have gotten Papaya fixed at that age, or even at all, but Dr. Anthony convinced me to, and I listened because I wanted to be a good pet owner, but she didn't even care when her patient died from complications from the surgery she performed. This place is horrible and I've warned every one of my pet owning friends and family in the area to never go here.

Phuong H. Hoang

Very nice and competent staff. Prices are comparable and often less than other vets I've tried. They have a vet who can also do guinea pigs. Sometimes wait can be long because they also take animals on emergency basis, which is a good thing. But on our last visit there was almost no wait. Would definitely recommend.

Casey Burnett

Staff was friendly and knowledgeable during our visits, however filing insurance claims for my pet was NOT an easy task with Falls Road Animal Hospital. They are extremely non-responsive and after many emails, follow up emails, phone calls, it took weeks to get a simple claim form filled out and submitted. I've been to 2 other animal hospitals and never had this issue.

Marie Black

They are very professional and caring when it comes to your pets i would recommend them to sny of my freinds and thank you so much for being so kind and gentle with Fred

Anna Ketko

Horrible service. Spent almost three hours with our dog there. They took him away and told us they put him on oxygen. Then they did Xray and doctor said she couldn't see anything and radiology will give us more details. No blood work was done. It was energency with two puppies so no one really did anything with our dog. Paid more than $450 and left without knowing what on going on with our dog. Two days later no radiology report, no phone calls from staff to find out how is our dog. The dog's condition got even worse so we have to take him to our vet who is overbooked but made some room to see us.

Amber Cofield

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE! THEY WILL DIE JUST WAITING TO BE SEEN! I brought my pet here today to be seen due to him throwing up all morning and shaking like crazy when I got there, It took the girl 15 mins just to check me in and I waited 2 and a half hours before I just gave up and went to another animal hospital! This is ridiculous! Don’t bring your pets here! incompetent people, slow, not caring, and claim It has to be a “serious emergency” well wth do you consider a “serious emergency” If some lady just comes in carrying her dog and walks straight back and the dog looks perfectly fine. This place is a joke and need to be reported to the better business bureau

Sarah Carver

Sarah Adams

I had a handful of satisfactory experiences here prior to the most recent one, which made me take my pets elsewhere. I have two young cats, both of which have never had chronic problems. When I adopted my second cat, she had an upper respiratory infection, as many foster/rescue kittens do, and was given antibiotics which seemed to help, but her symptoms slowly came back as she was finishing the medication. I took her back, figuring that she would be prescribed a different/stronger medication as I had discussed with the first vet who saw her and said to bring her back in for different antibiotics if she didn't improve. Unfortunately, we saw a different vet at the practice for this follow up, who suggested that the solution was to surgically extract all of her teeth. Read that again. I was given an estimate for this procedure at the end of the visit and encouraged to schedule it for the following week. Her symptoms cleared up within the next few days. I previously worked as a veterinary assistant for 5 years through college, and I could never fathom how a veterinarian would come to the conclusion that the appropriate treatment plan would be to extract all of her teeth, because her breath smelled bad, because of a respiratory infection. This happened about 2 years ago, and I still think about it to this day every time I hear something about Falls Road. I'm giving that doctor the benefit of the doubt, because I understand that things get misdiagnosed sometimes. Otherwise, I would absolutely state her name in this review. ALWAYS ask for a second opinion when something feels wrong.

Paige Butler

Friendly & knowledgeable. It was my pups first time at the vet for his vaccines and they were very informative and thorough. They knew exactly how to keep the puppy calm and complete checkup tasks quick!

Erin O'Donnell

This place used to be great back in the late 90s/early 2000s. I'm not sure what changed, but when it did the place went downhill fast and hard. I've never set foot in a more unorganized and dirty vet office. The employees are unfriendly, slow, and in the business of taking your money, not helping your animal. I've wanted to change vets for years, but life gets busy and our dog was hardly ever there so I just kept going for annual checkups. Today was the last straw and we will never be going back. My husband took our dog in for an appointment to refill her "ibuprofen" prescription and get her rabies booster (she has a sore paw, she’s part Bassett Hound). Mind you, she had just been for her annual checkup on 12/15/17 so this was supposed to be a quick shot and refill appointment. She was seen by a tech and given her rabies booster and then my husband was told he would need to make another appointment to get her prescription refilled, despite telling them it was part of the reason for his visit over the phone while making the appointment. On top of needing to make another appointment at a different date and time, my husband was also told he would need to pay for a full vet exam before refilling her prescription. She just had a full physical less than 6 months prior, has been going annually for her entire life, and is in perfect health! As testament to how scheming Fall Road Animal Hospital is, my husband just got off the phone with Beltway Animal Hospital (the first other local vet he tried calling) and they said, “if the dog has a prescription and is seen annually there would be no reason why they wouldn’t refill the prescription and need an additional doctor’s appointment.” I think you all can read between the lines and see how I have come to the conclusion that they don’t care about the pets, they care about the money. I will be going somewhere that respects my time, money, and my dog and I suggest others stay far, far away from this crooked place.

Dina Gharib

Soooo efficient, professional, and easy. Their prices are extremely fair and everyone in the office so kind. I've been to many vets and this is the only one that I choose to go to now! Love them

Luis Arroyo

I believe there are 2 lead vets here. One Female vet and One Male vet. THE MALE VET IS SUPER SUSPECT.. My dogs made it out of there alive but I will never return unless they get rid of that guy. You will put your dog at risk if you go here.

John Moser

This is pretty much the best vet in Maryland. Prices are relatively-low, yet the service is top-notch. The staff is great to work with, the doctors and veterinary technicians are knowledgeable, and service is generally-prompt—excepting that they are an emergency vet and *will* focus on people's injured and dying pets first, a policy with which one cannot find fault.

Ronda-lee Peterson

They misdiagnosed my 17 month old dog. Wanted to give her a operation that cost $1918.61 that she didn't even need. I took her for a second opinion turns out it was a bacterial infection. For $320 that I spent there I went to Erdman and received the emergency visit, xrays, blood work and medicine all for the less than what they charged me. In short I will never take any of my pets to Falls Road animal hospital.

N

I love this place. I have been taking my 2 dogs there for the past 5 years. They are great for emergency They saved my dogs life. :( He was close to dying at 3 am.

dave dyer

Wonderful, friendly staff. Top tier service, worth every penny.

Courtney Ashby

Last month, my dog Nile was hospitalized for a total of 2 weeks after a dog attacked him. He required multiple drains, reconstructive skin surgery and sutures. Dr. Herko was the lead doctor on his case. The staff and doctor took very good care of him and remained patient with me (a very concerned pet parent). Today, he is fully healed. Thank you Falls Road Animal Hospital.

Kyle Hoban

They charged us several thousand dollars when our cat was having trouble breathing, going over the upper estimate without telling us. They never actually gave us a diagnosis and told us they were keeping our cat until we paid them. When we took the cat to our regular vet, they were able to tell us within minutes that she had asthma, which could have been treated much more inexpensively at Falls Road if they had been able to make the same diagnosis...I highly recommend going somewhere else.

Erika Fountain

Falls Road Animal Hospital, and Dr. Barker in particular, are INCREDIBLE. My 12lb pup was attacked by a much larger and stronger dog and had multiple very deep puncture wounds as a result. Dr. Barker took her into emergency surgery and patched her up good as new. Our pup recovered quickly and today has no signs of having been attacked. They were so helpful with us, making sure we had all the information we needed at all times. Dr. Barker was so patient in answering all of our questions and regularly checked in on our pup by phone. After our experience with their emergency surgery we've since switched vets so that Falls Road Animal Hospital is now our regular vet - you can feel assured knowing your pet will be given the best care there.

Maradith

It was one of the worst days of my life, having to bring my sweet angel to the hospital and finding out that she has terminal liver failure. However, the staff here were the kindest and most supportive people I could have imagined going through this tough time. I am so grateful to them. They took us back immediately. Dr. Barker was so honest and understanding when explaining my options. Jenna, the technician was also extremely helpful and caring. It is clear these people truly love and care for animals.

Fab Inc

Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. My dog Cupcake is always calm in their care.

Nicole

I took my rat in when she developed a large mammory tumor. The doctor was honest with what to expect and the treatments available. It was a great experience despite the situation.

Sarah Baugher

Don't bother making appointments. This place notoriously exceeds wait time form 45 min to an hour and a half. The very least the staff could do is sincerely apologize, BUT they don't. They profit off of emergency appointments but make no ammends to offer a discount to those who make appointments and have to wait for extended periods of time. Not only that, you make appointments for certain services, and those aren't even documented!! Yet again, more needless waiting and mediocre (at best) customer service!

LaShonda Dorsey

Falls Road Animal Hospital staff were great. I took my 16 week Spaniel for an emergency. We didn't have an appointment and we were in an out. My Bailey loved the staff. Eveyone was friendly and knowledgeable.

gwensil

I have had to visit falls road animal hospital On three different occassions and every single time I swear I will never go there again. If I had listened to their recommendations every time I would have spent upwards of $10000, much of which was completely unnecessary. On one visit they were going to charge me $4000 for a visit that ended up costing me $800 at Pg county animal hospital. Additionally on my first visit they had not given antibiotics to my dog when they definitely should have, the second they “accidentally overcharged me” and the third just seemed high and although it was during the holidays they seemed very confused about whether they had administered medication to my dog. I know this place is usually used during emergencies but I really highly recommending driving a bit farther to somewhere else if anything else is open.

Bethany Fulton

All of the staff is incredibly kind. My dog Maggie loves going to doggie daycare there. They also have excellent and quick emergency vet care. We've been going there since September 2013, and plan on sticking with the facility.

Kristina Mackamul

I had to bring my dog into Fall Road Animal Hospital while on vacation and our experience was beyond excellent. We were treated like patients that had been going there for years! I would recommend anyone taking any their animals here. The staff is exceptional, friendly, and so very helpful! 5 stars in my book!

Stacey Haught

Dr Stefan and staff were awesome!

anita parham

My experience with Falls Road Animal Hospital was great for me and for Paxton! His doctor, Dr. Wendell is the best. She is so patient with him and he lets her do whatever she needs to do to him. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Scheduling an appointment is always easy and convenient. As long as they are around, I will never take Paxton to any other animal hospital. The fees for everything are very reasonable also. I recommend Falls Road Animal Hospital very highly!!!

Gary K

It's almost like a veterinarian isn't measured by how many people he has taken forced photographs with. Oh, you're dog needs a routine check-up? Never fear, the Falls Road Animal Hospital is sure that dog is on the verge of death. However, with as many "inconclusive" tests as you can order, these "vets" will be sure to still have no idea what is going on. I wouldn't take my animal here to be put down, as I'd prefer them to die outside of a literal dump.

Roxy Marie

Very nice and helpful staff at Falls Road Animal Hospital! Everyone was caring and compassionate when it came to our dog, Klaus. They are certainly my number one recommendation!

Rebecca Schuman

All of my pets have been treated and saved here. This was not our first choice for a vet when we first got pets but quickly became the only place we take our animals now. Dr barker is terrific with our chocolate lab puppy and super sweet when dealing with puppy parents who are just worried and have a million questions. Dr miller was professional and compassionate when it came time to let our dog move on. And all 3 of my cats love coming and seeing the staff. Whether it's routine or an emergency this is our go to vet now.

Svetlana Shargorodskaya

They severely injured my parrot's leg during an examination, then refused to take responsibility. We brought our Quaker parrot in for skin picking. He was walking, perching, and climbing with no problem, as always. Dr. Stefan picked him up out of his cage to examine his skin, and the moment she put him down, it was clear he could no longer climb, perch, or walk as before, his left leg was at a weird angle, and he was avoiding putting weight on it. Dr. Stefan denied that she had anything to do with his leg suddenly not working, and Dr. Zier, who came in to take a second look at the bird, backed her up on this. The office manager then gave the parrot a complimentary X-ray, but then they claimed the results showed he needed further testing for possible cancer. BS! It was absolutely heatrbreaking to see the little guy trying to hobble around and falling over on his face, and completely enraging to see the hospital deny any responsibility. It's been six months, he still can't walk without falling, the entire leg is still skewed at an angle, and one of the joints sticks out on the outside of his body in a nasty way. And it's all our fault for taking him to this awful vet.

Darren Bullford

Falls Road Animal Hospital is a great choice if you are a local resident and your furry friend is in need of assistance. I would have gave them Five stars but the wait for the vet to see our dog was a little bit long. Besides that the staff was very nice and friendly & the medicine had my dog back to 100% In a week!
