Had an emergency with my puppy 3 days ago. The receptionist was not to friendly at first but was ok later. The Vets and Techs are great. Had to take my other puppy yesterday (same virus) and the receptionist was great and the staff was great. They printed out an estimate of the care beforehand and allowed me to decide. Had to put down a deposit because my puppy stayed overnight. They returned $189 dollars back to my card that they didn't use.. Honest place.

I go to a pet loss support group after losing my dog. ALL of the horror stories are from Catonsville. A botched euthanasia, improper fluids given, medical conditions not monitored at all, another dog given back covered in blood and the staff didn't know where it was coming from ... someone I know who worked there briefly recently said that sick dogs are given no blankets or bedding and that dogs and cats who have died are thrown around in the freezer like they're garbage with no respect or thought to the animal or owner. I would NOT recommend this place.

It seems odd to leave a five-star review for a emergency vet that put my dog down, but when Maggie was having seizures, I knew it was her time, she was an old gal after all. I brought her in at 830p, she was taken care of by the staff, who were both kind and respectful. The vet on duty was thorough in her explanation of what was going on, and gave us our options about what do without pressuring us one way or the other. We were given the room to ourselves, and when we ultimately did have to let my dog go, we were allowed to be there with her the whole time. I felt comfort knowing that the people here, a vet staff I'd never used before, were there for us when we needed them. This has been an extremely difficult time, and the vet was beyond kind during it.

Had to call in here for my savannah cat Taylor having blood in his urine. They convinced me to come in even though it was almost midnight saying I shouldn't wait until the morning. It was a great decision to come here as the entire clinic is very professional and helpful. Dr Cullen came out and talked to me multiple times about Taylor and even had the techs clip his nails while he was there so I could avoid another trip. Price was very reasonable for an emergency trip and would come to this clinic full time if closer to me and possible but a great choice for an emergency if needed.

Luv this place. If your fur baby is sick..don't waste your time and money taking then to your " regular " vet. Just go straight to EVC. All the staff are nice, friendly, helpful, compassionate and caring about you and your fur baby. Dr. Tino is the best!

I can't say enough nice things about this place and the people. We unfortunately had to have our dog euthanized there last summer in the middle of the night after she had a stroke. They were so VERY kind and caring with us - our Daisy was 16.5 years old and it was like losing a person for us...and they totally understood what we were going through and treated us so sensitively and gently. My only minor feedback is that the place itself could use a little sprucing/freshening up, but the care is extremely kind and professional so that's not a big concern...they also seem to be good doctors. I was so grateful for their kindness that I bought small gifts for the three people who were working at 2am that morning. I would not ever hesitate to return here with another dog. They really care. Thank you again to everyone there.

My dog came in after I found blood in his stool.. I called and they said they were open and would be waiting for us. Got in around 5:30 and Blu was taken in by about 6:15 after a (definitely) more pressing situation came in right after me. The doctor came in about 15 minutes after the tech took his temperature. The doc handled him well, as did the two technicians that saw him and took him for his blood work. The doc came in 10 minutes later, talked me through the situation and gave us antibiotics. I came out paying just about $140--this covered initial look ($98) and then the blood work and medicine. We left at around 7:40 (roughly two hour visit). Overall a great experience. Thank you, EVC.

Our dog had a surgery and the staples had opened up. Our vet was closing for Christmas so I had no choice but Pet ER. My heart sank because of cost and impact on an older dog. I drove to Catonsville feeling pretty down. Every interaction I had here was good, I listened to the person at the front desk handling a really sad, tricky conversation in an extremely sensitive way while I waited to check in and thought about how hard a job they have. No one wants to be at Pet ER. The vet came out and explained cost to me, it was about a third what my previous Pet ER experiences had let me to expect. When I went back to pick my dog up a couple came in with a cat that had been hit by a car. Again, an awful situation was handled with practical sensitivity. And my dogs’ bandaging is very impressive and she seems well. I can’t afford to use a pet ER as my regular vet but if I could it would be this one. Thoroughly impressive and satisfying experience, couldn’t be more grateful.

$900, but for what? Our Poodle kept vomiting for a few days and we took her in. They did an X Ray and then recommended him to stay overnight. I'm guessing they gave anti nausea meds over night and then had no answers for us the next day other than bring him back if he throws up again repeatedly. By the next morning when the meds wore off, he was throwing up all day again. I'm honestly not sure what the $900 was for, nothing was even remotely resolved and I spent over 4 hours waiting in their office. Disappointing.

My son's elderly pug had some sort of event resulting in seizures. The treatment provided by the staff and vet at the clinic was kind and compassionate. Unfortunately, my son's furbaby was not destined to survive and the decision was made to allow the pug to escape his pain and misery

They saved my kitten's life. There are other emergency clinics closer to my home, but I chose this one based on reviews. We had just gotten him from the shelter a couple of days before, and he started having horrible congestion and was panting for breath, so we took him in. Initially they checked him out and sent him home with some medicine and told us to bring him back if he got worse. He got worse a few hours later, and they immediately got him into ICU. Their staff and doctors are so kind and caring, they kept and eye on him constantly, and called us several times with updates. Thanks to them, our little Triton is now home and on the road to recovery. The bill was also much less than the initial estimate they gave us, so that was a plus. I wouldn't hesitate to take any one of my pets to them for emergency treatment.

Dr. Luehman was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond explaining what she was testing and why. The staff was very efficient, passing records on to my vet and to the cardiologist we visited the next day. They gave detailed instructions for the meds and all were very empathetic and kind.

My cat was referred here for overnight care after she had two (!) surgeries within a few days of each other. My husband and I were a mess. At that point, we really didn't have a good grasp of what was going on with our kitty and we were quite worried. Also, the costs were mounting. However, EVC was amazing. 1.) The receptionists are the most warm and welcoming receptionists in Baltimore. Amanda (I think?) is the best, and I overall just had a good feeling about leaving my pet with them. They often had to deal with both me and my husband calling (sometimes at the same time) to check in on our pet. They were so patient with us and helpful. 2.) The vet-techs are absolute professionals. They kept us updated and took meticulous notes. They share these notes with the owners. Everything from when she went potty to notes about my pet liking head rubs that morning. It warmed my heart. Also, they double checked and triple checked that we had all the meds we needed and were very good with making sure we were comfortable administering them and with feeding her via feeding tube. They spent about an hour going through everything with us, which we deeply appreciated. 3.) Dr. Gruver is by far the best veterinarian I have ever met, and I have met quite a few. She is so professional, but also incredibly caring. She had compassion and empathy whenever I called to speak with her. Like I said, I was a mess, and was frustrated that I really didn't know what was happening with my cat (not EVC's fault, or anyone's really, but my main vet tends to speak in technical terms and my husband and I were lost). She was calm and answered all of my questions with so much patience. There was no jargon and if there was she explained what she was talking about. She also took meticulous notes and even recorded when we called and discussed in the notes the goal posts for our pet to meet progress-wise. 4.) They knew we were worried about mounting costs and worked with us on a strategy to get my pet feeling better and also not break the bank. We really appreciated this. Overall, an amazing experience and I literally tear up thinking about how amazing this place is.

This last week has been the hardest for my husband and I, as we were faced with the hardest decision I both of our lives that we have yet been faced with....The decision of letting our dog Zoey go... The pain you feel of making such a hard decision is one that leaves you so heartbroken, sick to your stomach,guilty and lost. Even though my husband and I have been together for 14+ years and had children, we did not have children together. 11 years ago we chose that finding Zoey was our child together. She y grew not only with us but our children and our family. She not only had a place on our heart, but both Jason and I entire families heart. Losing her, was a lost to our entire family. I was referred here by my regular vet when my elderly dog had severe symptoms on a Saturday that indicated a possible stroke. At first I was reluctant to go to an Emergency Animal Hospital due to a bad experience I had at Falls Road Animal hospital, but the staff at the Catonsville Emergency Veterinary Clinic were nothing but supportive during a difficult time. Everything from the medical care to the billing was clearly explained upfront with kindness and compassion. I rarely leave reviews, but I felt as if the staff here went above and beyond to make this difficult, sad day a lot easier for me and my poor old dog.

I took my scrappy in tonight because he was throwing up shaking and his back legs giving out! U could tell he was in pain was whimpering and even slobbering a Lil. They were so great with him! They took him in the back within 10 mins. They were so good with him. When the doctor came to tell us what was wrong and what we should or shouldn't do she explained other cases and actually had tears in her eyes u can't fake that. I will definitely take my baby back again if needed. My only complaint was with the x-ray they only did one side and him laying on his back. I thought they would have done both sides on his back and standing up since it's a back and nerve issue

Took my Lil Girl there 4 weeks ago and they were Excellent considering how upset & yelling ,screaming crying Cuz my Baby was sooo sick out of nowhere all the sudden!!!! She had to b put down almost immediately after a blood scan was done..she needed blood transfusion immediately and still would not survive!!!! She was at 7% on her red blood cells and literally stuffercating in front of us!!!! They were excellent with her treats her like a QUEEN!!! AND WAS SOOOO SOOO KIND AND UNDERSTANDING TO ME AND OUR FAMILY!!!! THANK U TO THE LADY VET Doctor for her kindness compassion and understanding to my MAJOR MELT DOWN... IT WASN'T PRETTY

My 10 week old Boston Terrier who came in around 2 AM for excessive coughing and we were very scared, X rays get done and immediately they want to do surgery, just to see if there’s anything going on with him, the vet on duty even said she’s not sure what she was seeing. Are you kidding me??? My dog came in for a scary cough that sounded like he was choking, made me feel like I was going to hell for wanting a second opinion and thank god I did, no surgery was necessary and he is on anti biotics, the vet had no idea what she was doing and wanted money out of us, will never go back there ever again over priced and they do not seem like they care that much

I am out of state and my daughter called me hysterical that her new dog had been hit by a car and didn't know where to go. As she was scooping her up I found this vet hospital online. They took my daughter right in. Gave her puppy a thorough exam (x-rays, ultrasound, etc). They were polite and courteous and didn't make her feel bad or stupid. And they did it all for a very reasonable price. We have had other experiences with very hospitals so we know good and bad. They are one of the good. And PS, the puppy, thankfully, was totally fine!

A few nights ago my dogs got in a fight over a bone and one required staples for a bite wound and my regular vet was already closed for the day. They saw us immediately, and were so kind and calm and patient. I really needed the calming influence because I was totally panicking over everything. The doctor talked to me for a while and was so nice while I rambled and worried about everything, she gave me some excellent suggestions for how to prevent and address disagreements between them in the future. The receptionist recommended a trainer and was also so sweet and understanding about how I was feeling. They were gentle and quick with my dog who needed the staples. I was also amazed at how inexpensive it was! I used to be a vet tech and was keeping a mental tally of what I thought the bill would be, and it ended up being less than even my low estimate. I'm so glad to know they are right up the road from me. Hopefully I won't have any more late night emergency vet visits in the future, but if I do, I'll definitely come back here.

Came in with our dog Loki who had gotten into the trash and are plastic. He was throwing up and dry heaving constantly so we brought him here. The care we received was incredible. The doctor was very kind and explained everything going on and the medicine, the nurse was slow and gentle since Loki was nervous, and front desk was friendly. We came in without an appointment and left after x rays, blood work, ivs and medicine. So fast and professional. Would recommend

To keep a long story short, I took my dog here after calling them over the phone and explaining that my dog had chewed and possibly swallowed part of a TV Remote. They said it was urgent that I brought him in. They took my dog in the back with a muzzle on his face and put him under sedatives and told us they couldn't get an x ray because he wouldn't stand still. The dog was literally passing out on the floor we had to drag him into our car AND he had a muzzle on and they still couldn't get an xray on this dog? Then they told us to just go home and see if he vomits or starts acting weird and if he does then take him "to another animal hospital" their exact words. So before we had paid them $98 for an exam, it was critical that we bring him in, and after we paid them it was suddenly safe to take our dog home and wait it out. And if all else fails they advised us to take him to another animal hospital. Huuuuuge joke.

My 2 year cat was going into convulsions after I gave her her flea drops that weren’t meant for cats she was shaking vigorously she told me right away before even tell me the diagnostics of my cat that it would be $750-$1200 I mean shown you tell me how my cat is first so when I told her I don’t have the money and please just keep her for a couple hoursShe said jested that I euthanize her I told her no nobody is putting down my cat and she pretty much was begging me to put down my cat because we couldn’t afford over $1000. I insisted that I wanted my cat bag at home she came home and started shaking again we found another place called main street veterinarian that was 1/3 of the price and somebody that actually cared about my kitty cat They saved her life and we get her back tomorrow Morning. I will never go to this place again. Read the comments below because the five star comments are not real it doesn’t make sense how a place like this could get five stars looking forward to seeing my cat alive and well from another place as this place wanted to kill her that’s not what Veterinarians are four they are for helping animals not trying to kill them because their owners don’t have enough money and that’s all I have to say about that

Both times I went there, they misdiagnosed my dogs and my dogs DIED. First time was because my mastiff was throwing up. I went in and said his flea collar was missing and I was scared he ate it. Paid an arm and a leg for X-rays and everything. Vet said “no buckle, I don’t see a collar”. I explained that there’s no metal on a flea collar but she said “no, there’s nothing there”. Sent us home and he died TWO DAYS LATER. I had to put him down on 12/24/2018 because she couldn’t do her job and tell us until another vet fit us in and said it was too late to save him. I’d still have him if the ER vet had done her job. He was only 3. Took my pit mix in in April and I said something was seriously wrong, she’s dying, I needed to put her down. They adamantly said it was a slipped disc in her spine even though X-rays showed nothing. They basically forced us to board her for four days, guilt tripped us when we said we didn’t want to prolong her suffering. After a $2000 bill that I don’t think we should be paying for since they did absolutely nothing, we brought her back the morning after they told us to take her home because she COULD NOT MOVE. Turns out she had cancer in her spine. These people suck. I can’t believe I’m paying off a $2000 charge that wouldn’t exist if they’d listened to my judgment. I knew she was dying and they chose to force us to board her with false hope. Frankly, the charge should be cancelled. They did nothing for either of my dogs. Cancer may not be preventable but I could have paid $120 to have her humanely euthanized and not dragged it out. The incident with my mastiff was 100% preventable if they’d known what they were doing.

Our 4yr old Yorkie was attacked by a Pitbull three weeks ago. It happened on a Saturday, after his regular Vet was closed. We were frantic! I called Emergency Veterinary Clinic and they were open, available and have taken very good care of our Prince. We didn't think he'd make it but he's on the road to recovery!

I've been here for many cats' passings (my mother's a cat lady), and each time, the staff have been gracious, kind and steadfast. There's nothing as terrifying as at midnight, worrying about the health of a creature you love, only to have to wait--luckily, we didn't have to wait more than what felt like mere minutes before scans were done and painkillers were given. I was especially surprised at how friendly and caring the doctor was, she had platitudes that I'm sure comforted my mother and helped us in our cat's passing. The nursing team here are also swift and kind about handling billing. We did not feel rushed, and their compassion was truly appreciated.

I let go of my 12yo golden here. Kind staff and prompt care. They were very sympathetic and gave my family enough space and time to mourn. They were very helpful when i was arranging private cremation. They even sent me a sympathy card home. I would recommend. I couldnt help but to notice some one star reviews about cost and wait time. This is ER that operates on 24hr basis. It has far higher operation cost than office hour based vet. So you have to understand uptick in the price. I see a person complaining about 2 hour wait. It is natual to triage and prioritize animals in more critical condition. I recommend you go check out ER or prompt care for people. You will have far more wait time than 2 hours if you walk in with little booboo on your leg or whatever. You need to relax and be thankful that there is an animal ER in the area.

Have taken my dogs here in emergency situations and never had an issues. Literally saved my dogs life, feel really lucky to have a 24/7 vet so close to home. I did have to take my dog in when her tongue was split open, it has to be stitched together, costed under $300 and i feel like that is really reasonable for a situation like that. But ive also had a $2000 bill from when she ate something that got stuck in her intestines, dogs are not cheap! But i feel like they try to keep your bill as low as they can.

I can not express how amazing this practice is. We rushed our yorkipoo in around 10:30pm on 7/28 due to him doing something to his lil leg that was causing him pain. We were there maybe 5 minutes when the tech came out and asked a few questions, then took Dude to the back to have him assessed. I was not even a quarter of the way through the paperwork when the lovely tech returned our boy and informed us of the prognosis. She said he was all done and free to go. She advised us to follow up with our vet the next morning. This morning Dude is the same little guy he was before his incident last night. I will be calling the vet after I finish this review! Thank you again!!

Oh my God, what a fantastic vet! They saved Pretzels life after she swallowwd too much water swimming. I was allowed to visit her in the back during her 2 day stay. They gave her extra attention and treats as well as sat on the floor w her while she gave kisses! The pricing was VERY fair!! Thank u Dr. Wang, Dr. Stemley-Agnello and the FABULOUS vet techs!!!

I know that no one wants to take a loved one (Human or Pet) to an emergency hospital room for any reason. I had to bring my kitten of 4 months in for what I was to kidney failure. The nurse and Doctor that saw Sammy were very understanding of the situation and the choice I had to make. I thank them for being so careing. They are very good at what they do and I hope the stay in catonsville for many years to come.

They exceeded every expectation I had while I was there and in follow ups. Would recommend to anyone! Remember to support them with donations when you can! These folks saved my Maremma Sheepdog dog Nicola! After ingesting several unmentionable items from the trash which quickly swelled and blocked her stomach and small intestine, Nicola became very ill. At EVC, X-rays were taken and fluid therapy was started to get her to pass the blockage, to no avail. At midnight they began her surgery. They even called about 1 a.m. to let me know the progress and again around 2 to let me know she was out of surgery and ok. After two days in the hospital she was weak but ready to go home. Three days later she was herself. I was very impressed with the care, the concern and communication from the doctors and techs. The price was just what you’d expect in a situation like this but they accept Care Credit which was a huge help. I’m so grateful for this place and highly recommend it.

The staff are caring and courteous, and genuinely care about both the animals and their families. Because it's an emergency clinic, they're often dealing with traumatic injuries, grief, and loss, and they always handle the situation with genuine compassion. Our family has lost two dogs over the years, and we've relied on this clinic both times for diagnosis, emergency treatment, and compassionate euthanasia. While I do wish that they offered a less clinical environment for their euthanasia services, you won't find a more honest, caring, or experienced staff anywhere in the area. I sincerely hope you never need their services. However, if you do, I highly recommend them.

I've had nothing but good experiences here. There was one doctor who didnt have great bedside manner and he left something to be desired last year when I brought my kitty in, but the rest of the staff and doctors were phenomenal. Both times! They treat everyones pets wonderfully and give them the best care. As with any walk in place, it can be a little slow (they do have a lot of animals to see), but Id say this is a faster one and also the one I trust with my furbaby.

Some staff memebers are nice, but they upset me overall when I brought my pet in for a cut that was infected. I brought her back and they wanted to charge me almost $500 for the same problem. Meaning they did not fix the issue in the first place and just wanted to see how much more money they can take from me. They also stated that I had extra instructions for care on my original paper work. They couldn't even find these instructions. I was not told all that was needed. I don't understand why they didn't fix the problem the first time instead of cutting corners. Very dissatisfied and will not go back again. Now I have to find a good vet to help my dog

Brought our dog in because he was vomiting and not eating for a couple days, they took an x ray and thought there might be a possible blockage. The vet suggested he spend the night and have more xrays in the morning for $900. We opted for subcutaneous fluids and took him home. They offered us no other diagnostics, and it just seemed like they were going to suggest exploratory surgery. I mean, why else wouldn't you run other cheaper tests to see if it could be something else instead of just sending him home? So we left with the impression they just wanted money and that's why they couldn't be bothered to see if it were infection, etc. Anyway... Monday morning we call his actual vets (Advanced Vet), day 4 without food. Advanced gets him in and notices his Urine is dark, they think it's either a blockage or possible organ failure. They do blood work to find he has a serious infection despite lack of fever. They also notice his liver test is off. Instead of trying to take more xrays and then gouging us with unnecessary surgery (I honestly believe 100% that's what would have ensued at the ER), or just sending him home, Advanced actually found the problem and proceeded to treat with antibiotics. If we ever need an ER vet again, we won't go back to Catonsville, our experience there was a disaster. I mean, if they only took a blood or urine sample, they would have caught the infection and our dog would have been better the next day but they were stuck on getting $900 and possibly thousands more just to tell us thats not the problem and that they need more tests.

These people actually care about animals. I needed serious advice about my pets health and was answered by a very nice assistant who listened with focus and care. She immediately went to talk to the doctor and then repeated the advise, carefully emphasizing the details. My first call was to the Howard County emergency vet which was closed, my second call was to the Dunloggin vet, the experience was so horrifying that it prompted my very first google review, then as the saying goes third times the charm, I called this clinic seeking their advice and they nailed it. Interestingly the Dunloggin vet seems to recommend this place instead of the Howard County emergency vet, as their google reviews similarly shows how they refuse to help pet owners who aren't their regulars and direct those people to the catonsville clinic instead.

i would love to put negative stars about this place, from my previous review, i took my dog in very early on a friday morning between 1 & 2, had xray done, vet wanted to do surgery on his stomach right away cause she "thinks" she sees something but isn't sure, vet only wanted money or to experiment on my dog not sure, but we got a second opinion cause the puppy was only 10 weeks old and he's already had surgery on his hernia before we even got him, if a puppy gets anesthesia twice in a year it can be deadly especially with breeds like Boston Terrier, he had kennel cough no surgery needed at all, I was made to feel like i was a terrible owner for not wanting surgery, if surgery is avoidable avoid surgery, this place was bored and wanted something to do, they do not care about your pets only about keeping the lights on and making a profit. sorry but this place is way too expensive and they must hire vets who are not trained in doing xrays or ultrasounds cause the vet admitted to me several times she was not train in reading those...

Absolutely horrible. My dog ended up here because of a dog sitting stay that went horribly wrong. He was attacked and his ear was mangled. He was taken to this hospital only to have them do a horrible job at treating him. Two days later and 1300+ dollars later I am at my regular vet who is is stating that the first vet that touched his ear did a horrific job. Thanks for causing my dog 2 days of unnecessary pain. I will put negative reviews everywhere I can so hopefully people avoid this emergency clinic altogether. Because of them my poor dog has spent the last 2 days suffering for absolutely nothing. Thanks a lot!!!

I had a very close call with one of my cats, and after looking all around I settled on this place. Not only did they take him promptly, since I called beforehand, but they made sure to be very thorough when telling me the diagnosis. While it was fairly expensive, the service I got there was worth it. He was not in the best condition, but they did all they could to make him well again. They even let me visit, and gave me very enthusiastic updates over the phone. I had to go back weeks later to make sure Captain Jack had what i suspected to be a URI. It was, but what really showed me they cared-- That night a dog passed away right as it came in, and the vet took the time to make sure the owners and their beloved pet were taken care of. It was heartbreaking, but it showed how much they really do care. They saved my baby boy, and I am grateful to them. I have attached a photo of him, many thanks to them. I would trust them with him anytime.

Wonderful, caring people. We have had our dog there for 2 different emergencies and they are so caring. The vet actually sat on the floor of the exam room with our sick and scared dog and did her whole exam from the floor. She explained everything to us in great detail and never seemed hurried when we had so many questions. The entire staff was so caring and kind to our Buddy.
