We just put our beloved dog to sleep on Sunday. After repeated attempts to talk with Dr. Shell, and even her staff telling us she would call us, we decided that no one was going to help us. Our dog had IBS and would not eat, was dehydrated and shaking constantly with pain. I would never recommend this Vet or "hospital" to anyone. I only gave it one star because it will not post if you don't.

Outstanding experience! Truly inviting and welcoming practice. My dogs had no hesitation about entering or interacting with any of the staff. The vet took over an hour to talk with me and fully explain all of the results and my options. When I entered I had a high level of anxiety because of the medical conditions we were there to handle... when I left I felt like I had a good hold of the next steps and I was extremely comfortable with the care within the practice.

Excellent vet! I adopted this pretty tabby mix, a previous stray and wanted to get him checked out. Very convenient location beside sproing sport urbana. They got me in same day and had a minimal wait time. The vet did a full checkup and was great with my kitty. He got lots of compliments and attention! She truly has a passion for animals and it really shows. Very clean environment and reasonable pricing. I will continue to go to Compassion for my animals.

I got a very different number than was I was told over the phone. The receptionist did not know the right prices and told me one thing and when I got there they tripled the price on me. Bait and switch. Please be careful with this business and it’s operated by nothing but inexperienced teenagers. Also there was a safety violation when I was there. I stood outside for 3 minutes during normal business hours when they were open and they had to unlock the front door for me. It was very cold, -5*F and I did not appreciate them not letting me in when they knew I had an appointment that I was 1 minute early to. I called an hour ahead to make that appointment so there was no excuse for having a door locked and keeping me and my dog in the cold, let alone the fire hazard that a locked door possess’. She had to get a key to unlock the FRONT DOOR. If you go here make sure to be mindful of your wallet and your safety. The staff was very rude to me when they found out that I was quoted a lower price, blaming me for trying to get a better deal saying "good luck finding anyone else" in a very sarcastic and rude tone of voice.

We feel so lucky to have found Dr. Shell and her wonderful, kind, and friendly staff. Dr. Shell is truly compassionate, she obviously loves dogs and takes as much time as necessary to discuss options with me. She is also sensitive to cost concerns, never making you feel guilty for asking about price. I often have to bring my toddler and baby to appointments, and everyone is so understanding of the mayhem that ensues. It took us three tries to find a great vet after moving to Frederick, but we're so glad we kept trying!

Highly recommending Dr Shell would be an understatement!!! my 16 year old dog suddenly was unable to stand up. i called Compassion Veterinary Center as they are close by and in hopes that something can be done and i won't have to put her down immediately. they were able to fit us in right away and dr Shell prescribed laser treatment as well as various medications to help ease hip pain as well as help with her liver, which was not functioning properly. she got few shots there too and almost immediately my dog was able to stand up and in fact get up on her favorite spot on the couch by herself. her appetite improved vastly too and she seems like the dog we had few months ago or even last year! Dr Shell was incredibly compassionate, listened to my heartache on the phone and when we arrived. her assistant was very careful handling my dog and so patient with her. Dr Shell seemed extremely knowledgeable and i know that our former vet would have advised putting her down immediately without even trying to ease some of the discomfort she was experiencing, in hopes to at least get few more months of time together versus the quick Goodbye i was so afraid of... When that moment came Dr Shell also offered to come to our home, which i thought was exactly the way it will go one day when we can't do anything for her anymore... We were extremely happy with the services and value. We have decided that we are staying with Dr Shell and not going back to our previous vet!

Love love love! We moved to MD from out of state and needed to find a new vet. I was looking for a small practice so that the vet gets to know our pet family. We have 4 dogs so it's extremely important for us to find a vet that offers great service at an affordable price. We found what we were looking for here! The team was super friendly, helpful and caring! Their premises are extremely clean. And the best part, she travels to your home and can treat there for a small fee.
