We were so impressed with Berlin Animal Hospital. Another vet wanted to charge us close to $1000.00 to have our little dog teeth clean.....and they could not give me a price during our visit. I had to wait for them to call me back. I called Berlin Animal Hospital and they told me right away during our visit with our dog what the cost would be and it was $850.00 less than the other vet. Dr. Palmer and staff were wonderful to us and to our little dog. We are very pleased with Berlin Animal Hospital!

I live out of State but my dad is has been bringing his two "runway models" as he calls them :) here for several yrs. My dog is on prescription medication food that can only be got thru a vet & several months ago when we were there they excepted the script (from our vet back home) w/out question & then she hurt her back really bad & they had us bring here in under an emergency visit call and didn't charge us for a new patient visit or emergency visit b/c my dad has been such a loyal faithful client they wanted to repay the favor. Plus the staff is ABSOLUTELY amazing, was in a complete panic & helped calm me down also very friendly.

Still waiting for someone to call me back and tell me why an initial procedure cost $150 and why when we had to bring our dog back due to faulty sutures that were put in and the wound split open that we were charged $265. No one can seem to figure out why!!! Don't waste your time or money here.

I had to put my 8 year old beagle down. It was incredibly heart breaking for me and a decision that I struggled with for days. I arrived at the hospital sobbing and carrying her in a basket. The staff stood behind the counter watching me struggle with the door, my dog, the basket, etc. and made no move to help. I was asked to take a seat and I clearly needed a tissue - they just kept staring at me and finally one of the other customers offered me one. I was directed into a room where we were treated as if this were a routine visit and of very little interest. No compassion, no tenderness - nothing. The whole thing was so sterile and impersonal and uncaring that I will never go back. I guess if you have a healthy dog and just need a shot or something routine, you're fine but for anything that requires caring or sensitivity, I would not recommend this hospital at all.

I have used this vet for 20 plus years. They are very interested in and concerned about your animals. Also, unlike most veterinary clinics in this area, their fees are very reasonable. This facility is very clean, and I've witnessed them cleaning and disinfecting the treatment rooms between pets. They also offer grooming services.

Did not have a good experience here when putting my elderly dog down. The vet tech and the associate vet, Dr. Day made this very hard process, worse than it already was. I wrote to Dr. Palmer about my experience and he did not respond back to me. Would not recommend this office at all. In response to yours: I understand that you did not know my dog. I called your office and asked about the process for a non client, I stopped in your office, twice, before I made the decision to bring her there. Not once did anyone request I bring her in for an exam before the procedure.

This is the worst veternarian I have ever experienced in my life. As a loving dog owner I trusted them when my dog had an ear infection, also a fever of 103.9 along with it and they gave him a steriod for swelling and a 2 dose cream that they had to reapply in 14 days and it did not work, I told them I needed an oral antibiotic or something else and they refused and said that they would give me the same ear cream again, which showed no improvement and they didn't care my dog was still running a fever and just laying around hurting and sad. So I switched immediately and took him to another veternarian and they checked the temperature and it was 104, 106 is fatal for dogs. I was beyond pissed. They are not even gentle or comforting to their animals. I have had multiple people telling me many horrible experiences with them and switching to a different vet immediately. This new vet in just the first visit has already showed more improvment on trying to help my dog, then ever with the doctors at Berlin Animal hospital, they are not caring for animals what so ever and would never suggest them to anyone. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS TO BERLIN ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!

If there were such a thing as zero stars that is what I would have chosen. I have been a client of Berlin Animal Hospital for nearly 20 years, at times bringing in up to 60 dogs a year when I ran a dog rescue. This morning I called to get an emergency appointment because my elderly dog had been vomiting through the night and was told that they were too busy to see me. They said that they could see him tomorrow at the earliest. When I asked to speak to a vet to get advice as to what to do in the meantime to help with the vomiting I was treated so rudely and told that I just needed to wait for an appointment tomorrow and that there was nothing they would do to help me. The receptionist did not even speak to the doctor to see if her advice was safe for my dog, and the manner in which she spoke to me was nothing short of disgusting. She had the attitude that I was bothering them by asking to speak to the vet and the rudeness with which she spoke is so unacceptable. Unfortunately I don’t think Dr. Palmer cares enough to talk to his staff about how they treat their clients. Use this vet at your own risk, I’ve never written a review before but felt the need to warn people that when you are in your time of need with a sick animal they will treat you horribly, irresponsibly, and they could not care less what happens to your dog or how you feel about it. They will not be there for you when you need them most. It has not always been this way, and I’m very sad to say that this is how it is now. It is truly reprehensible to treat such a long term client whose animal is in distress with such utter disrespect. It is a shame, but this place has reached a point where their lack of caring has become dangerous to their clients animals. DO NOT USE THIS VET.

I've been going to Berlin Animal Hospital for about 7 years with various different dogs. More recently, for the past three and a half years I've been seeing Dr. Palmer for my English Bulldog and he is great. Very professional and good judgment. The reason for the two star rating is due to the office staff. They are very unreliable and their communication is horrendous. I'm sad to switch to a new Veterinarian but I've had enough of this office. My "last straw" with this office occurred on 10/1. I called the office to find out how much melatonin I should be giving my 45lb dog for 1x a day. I called at 4:55pm (their office closes at 5, I was pleasantly surprised they answered the phone). Once I asked the question they told me that they would check for me and be right back. I was put on hold for a few moments before someone else comes on the phone and says that they will be right with me. About a minute after, the phone hangs up... Of course when this happened it was past 5pm (5:02 to be exact) and when I called back I got the recording and couldn't reach the office staff again. This was just one of many inconveniences I've had with this office and it isn't acceptable for me. I bring my Golden Retriever puppy to Banfield Pet Hospital and so far their office staff beats Berlin's by a long shot.

Terrible. I loved them until the Associate vet left the practice. The first bad experience was bringing my 15 year old chow in for an ear infection. Dr. Palmer was totally unprofessional about the situtation. I was worried about my dog and he was rude and disrespectful to me when I asked questions. My dogs seemed like he was in a lot of pain and Dr. Palmer didn't care and when I questioned him on it he threatened to kick me out of the office with my sedated dog. I was totally rational and never asked one question that wasn't logical. This past week was the end for me. It was 5PM and I came home to an emergency with my dog- he was bleeding from his ear and lost a ton of blood. I quickly loaded him in the car to go to the pets ER to find out they were closed til 6. I called Berlin who has been my vet and they refused to see me so I was riding around with my dog bleeding to death while I called around to see if another vet would see me. I called a few days later to let them know how upset I was about being refused to be seen when my dog was literally dying- the manager didn't care and ended up hanging up on me when confronted about the situation. I will never take another pet there. The staff is rude, Dr. Palmer is the rudest of all.

I have been taking my dogs to Berlin Animal Hospital for 40+ years. I first met Dr. Palmer when he took over care of my cocker spaniel Missy about 15-16 years ago. He saw her through many years of skin disease, tumours, and various ailments. When at last, at 15, she was in too much pain, he helped her out of it. He now cares for my beagle and my granddog Loki, who at 13, has an eye problem that only the eye of an experienced vet could diagnose correctly. (My daughter had Loki seen by someone else before). Dr. Palmer prescribed the correct treatment and Loki is doing much better. If anyone has read Dr. James Harriott's books, like "All Creatures Great and Small", I feel Dr. Palmer is our very own "Dr. Harriott". I could give no greater compliment. Like him, he cares not only for the animals, but for their owners as well.

The Doctors and Staff at Berlin Animal Hospital care about you and your pet. I take my two dogs for regular check-ups, and although they are nervous, the staff talks to my babies until they are more calm. I like that they take the extra time to pay attention to my pet's feelings before just sticking them with a needle.
