REVIEWS OF Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic IN Maryland

The front desk staff was extremely friendly and patient with my over excited malamute. They were able to explain the policies to me and get me back to an exam room in less than 5 minutes. The vet we saw was also very friendly and really took the time to look at my dog and examine her. I didn't feel rushed at all and felt very confident in the care being provided for my pet. I'm thankful to live near a reliable emergency clinic.

Great veterinary hospital! Wonderful knowing that they are a fully functional emergency hospital no matter what day or time it is. It is a bit pricey, but I assume that is because it is also an after hours emergency hospital. Not sure if pricing is different during "normal" business hours. I arrived around 8:30pm on a Monday and it cost $160 just to walk in the door and be seen. Dr. Nightingale was fantastic!! She was very friendly and kind to my kitty Katie and myself. She provided a lot of information, as well as asking me questions and answering all of mine. She made me feel at ease about my girl's situation. The techs are also very nice and caring. Only issue that I had was the fact that there were 4-5 front desk personnel and there were virtually no other patients at the time. We were put in a room to fill out some paperwork and then wait for a doctor to come in. We waited for at least 20 minutes, possibly more before seeing anyone. At the end of the visit, I was given some info at checkout and had some questions, but had to wait again for assistance. But overall, given the nature of my visit, this place is an excellent veterinary hospital!

The vets here have saved our little elderly Min Pin's life, treating pancreatitis. She made it thru the night and released after two days of care. New building is BEHIND the old building, with all the construction.

100% recommend this clinic to anyone! Our dog broke his mouth and we rushed him to our local vet and who then referred us to Anne Arundel to get a second opinion on it. Very honest and caring people here. Although it is pricey, it is all worth it to give your furry baby the special care they need.

While they were open and ultimately did good work, they were unbelievably callous about my situation. My dog had an anemic fit, caused by internal bleeding with a tumor on his spleen rupturing. Despite us telling them it was a periodic thing, they still made an offer to put him down on the spot. A month later and I still have a happy dog and no plans to revisit.

Ellen DeChant

The doctor was great but the wait was horrible. We went in about 10 p.m. and didn't get home til almost midnight. It was obvious that there was only one doctor available because we waited an hour just to be seen, then after she took our dog for x-rays, it took another 45 minutes. We were charged $500 for the visit which was outrageous considering the wait time.

Eric Hess

Exceptional service taking care of our little Pomeranian who had her bit by another dog. Late night we were able to find them and get her treated very quickly without costing an arm and a leg. The veterinarian was very warm and welcoming, as well as the rest of the staff. Our dog was well taken care of and so were we.

Staff was very friendly and informative. Very impressed

I had to take my cat to AAVEC and later that evening, I had to put my very sick cat down. He meant so much to me that I wanted him cremated. The next day I called Valley Pet Crematory to ask some questions and they told me my cat’s urn will be delivered at AAVEC on Friday, April 12th. I called AAVEC Friday in the afternoon asking if they have received my cat’s urn yet. The woman on the phone named April acts like I’m bothering her and looks real quick at the computer and says no we have not. April then tells me that the lady that deals with the Valley Pet Crematory deliveries is not in today, so you will have to wait until Monday, April 15th. She did not show any sympathy and was very rude on the phone. She didn't give me any additional information besides "She will call you". You would think that a person would take the extra step for a patient's loved one's ashes.... at least I would. Also, why is there only one person handling the cremation-related work? There should be a backup person. Once I dealt with that, I called Valley Pet Crematory to see if my cat’s urn was delivered today and they said yes. It was delivered at 8 in the morning. Once I heard that, April at AAVEC lied to me. I'm sure she knew that they received a delivery that morning. Then I called AAVEC back and I get a different person on the phone named Karen. She was more helpful than April was and looked to see if my cat’s urn arrived yet. She actually took the extra step and had me on hold, so that she could go away from the phone and look. She gets back on the phone and tells me “he is in the building”. Then I told her I will be coming by tonight to get him. She says nothing and just hangs up the phone on me; what a shame. I thought to myself that was really rude. After that I’m pretty feed up and I feel if these two receptionists can’t respect or show any sympathy to customers at AAVEC, especially when it’s involving a pet that has recently passed away and their ashes have been delivered, then they should not work there. Also, when you have to bring a sick pet to AAVEC, it can be very emotional for a pet owner. Someone being rude and not showing empathy for someone losing a loved one can make everything worse. To make things worse, when I arrived at AAVEC to get my cat's urn, April was at the front desk and had a rude/irritated tone. Another employee took care of me after I mentioned that I was there to get my cat's ashes. She then went to a binder that I’m assuming was for cremation and April immediately said something like "oh, that's not going to be in there. You will have to go in the back." What I experienced was not called for and makes me want to go somewhere else. It is a shame since the two doctors I had, Dr. Keil and Dr. McNair, were very compassionate and I highly recommend them.

My 11 year old lab started celebrating Christmas before the family. He opened and quickly consumed some cocoa rose hip tea that was sealed securely in a plastic container. The vet was cautious as he is an older dog. He was admitted over night and monitored closely. They saved his life. He ended up having cardiac arrhythmias and a seizure. We can’t thank the doctors and staff enough for all the care they gave Cooper. The kept us informed and made us aware of the cost. It’s reassuring to know we have such experienced and compassionate emergency vet available to us for our dog.

My dog had a bad reaction from her booster shots earlier in the day from another vet location. So this was a Saturday evening and this is the only 24 hour emergency room for animals in my area. I called to give them the alert we were on the way with my poor swollen dog. As soon as we arrived they vet tech took one look at her and immediately took her to a back area to begin treatments. These folks were kind, calming, & professional! The best! The doctor treated my baby with steroid & Benadryl injections while I signed some paperwork. After about an hour things were under control and the severe swelling was starting to improve. We were given instructions for home care and it was done, home we went. Happily! Thank you for the great care & professional care you give your 4 legged patients and their family! I hope to not need emergency care again however I know right where to go.

I called Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic on 17 JUNE 2019 at 9:02 P.M. I cannot believe the response/answer I received from the Clinic. I am away on military orders and I called this clinic to get information over the phone, since my dog is currently at daycare in another state. I told the woman who answered the phone about my situation, and how my dog had been bitten by horse-flies. I asked if she knew anything about dogs getting bitten by them before. This was her response, "Ma'am I do not have time to answer that question. I've been bitten by horse files before, and I was just extremely itchy." I was in complete shock. She had time to tell me about her reaction to horse-fly bites but not a quick statement about reactions to dogs. This place is suppose to want to save and care for animals, but saying that "you do not have time" is simply unacceptable. I highly recommend calling or going somewhere else. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!

Dr. Kozek saved two of my children.

Great people fair price

This place should get 10 stars. It was a lovely facility. The staff were courteous. helpfut, and accomadating. It was very busy, however we were given explainations for the wait. The vet showed great interest and listened attentively to all concerns. Instructions, suggestions, and options were presented to address the current situation. The vet handled the pet with care and talked to him.

Matthew Marcellino

My dog got stung by a bee late in the night. They gave her shots and prescribed Benadryl. It did take a few hours but there were two critical cases that came in while we were there. They updated us on times and were very nice.

Pat Shaulis

The staff here is amazing. We had to let or beloved dog go due to cancer was a very sad day. The DR. never made us feel bad or tried to get extra $ by extending her life for 6 months. We had her cremated and a few days later we receive a poem with her paw print, very nice way to remember her.

Reed Mulligan

Incredible ability, knowledge and care. As an ER Nurse and married to an ER doctor we have some clue of how things work, although we would never pretend to know veterinary medicine, but their ability and level of cre rivalled anything that would be expected of human emergency care.

Katie Gast

My little dog ruptured her eye early in the morning on Christmas Eve. It happened at about 5:10am. We rushed her, severely in pain, to Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic. She was admitted, her pain managed, with a clear treatment plan by 6:00am. She had surgery to have her eye removed and was home by 8:00am on Christmas day. She was so well cared for and expertly treated and we are forever grateful. She continues to do well. I doubt a human would have been managed as well in a hospital ER.

Carlos Robinson

My Experience here was great

Over the years, I have taken my pets here for many different emergencies. They're expensive, yes; but, cost means nothing when you love your pet. While not every visit has had a happy ending, I've never once felt like they didn't give all they could to help. If you feel like your pet is in immediate danger, this is the place to go --day and night. I am so very grateful for this clinic being readily available for anything that may come. While I pray my pets and yours never experience an emergency, thank goodness they are here and always open when it happens.

Beau Michaud

I am truly shocked at the lack of attention and knowledge shown by Dr. Cole. I arrived at the clinic today with a cat who had a nosebleed that would not stop bleeding. The front desk staff were, as they have been for years, wonderful, kind, attentive, professional, and an absolute gift. Then Dr. Cole came in. I can only assume that she is the "B" team. She proceeded to tell my wife and I how bad the situation was, and avoided answering any of my relatively simple questions. I asked her whether the color of the bloody discharge was indicative of anything. I asked her if the medications the cat was on could have contributed to the issue. I gave her a complete list of health, recent blood work, medications, etc... Dr. Cole took our cat out of the room to weigh her and take her temp. Dr. Cole brought the cat back. Did not clean up her face. Did not examine her in any way visible to me. Did not feel for lumps, bumps, or trauma. Did not answer any questions. Told us that she recommended that we take the cat to a the regular vet tomorrow. I have trusted this clinic with my pet emergencies, as my parents have, for decades. If Dr. Cole is any indication of the caliber of Vet that they are hiring these days, I am done with them. If Dr. Cole happens to come in and you are having an emergency, please, ask for another Vet or go to another clinic. I have NEVER seen a vet that cared so little, or seemed to know so little about animals, in my 40+ years of life... AND I have been a pet owner all my life. I will not go back there. I will recommend to people that they run as far away from Dr. Cole as possible with their family pets.

SONYA SLOAN

They were so loving and attentive to my dog and her injury. thanks

Soggy D.

Attentive and quick. The Vet explained everything she did and gave options. Be warned, emergency get medical help is expensive. This place offered an estimate range based on projected course of treatment. They would not start treatment without a deposit equal to the lowest estimated cost. Not complaining really, but we were not prepared for the cost. On the other hand, looking over the bill from my regular vet for a standard neutering, this was not off- the-charts expensive. Just a shock when a beloved pet is in trouble.

Sparkle Gunther

They were very caring and did a miracle saving my dog

Ed Myers

Spent $1300 and they could not find out what was wrong with our dog. He stayed overnight and when we picked him up the vet never came in to talk to us. She did talk to my girlfriend on the phone but not in person. Plus they never called us to see how Otis was doing. Feel ripped off and will never return. Only positive was the vet tech

Renee Wilson

Great facility. Kind people.

John Oliveri

My dog had broken his leg, and I was in a panic as to where to take him. They took good care of him,.he needed surgery. 2 days later we had him home recovering. Thanks John O

Shawn Barker

They thought our puppy weighed 3.6mg, smh. Then we waited for an hour while our 9 week old puppy struggled to breath through pneumonia potentially brought on by kennel cough which he came with from the "breeder" aka puppy mill (we think). We have spent nearly the entire time we've known him (2 days) in one vet clinic or another, mostly waiting... At the time of this review, we are still waiting.

Lisa Fair

My dog received excellent care through the ER service. The ER doctor was great as were the techs! I would not hesitate to return should I be in need of their services again.

Todd Smith

Very friendly and professional staff. The facility was top notch.

Anita Collins

Exceptional veterinary care! Each vet gave our Scottie the very best care under dire conditions. We are grateful for the staff’s unbelievable thoughtfulness and sensitivity during our difficult and sad 2 days with our “Mardi”. Care was top notch and expensive, but worth every penny. RIP sweet “Mardi”, you are so loved.

Danielle C

This facility was an absolute life saver when my dog was throwing up blood for hours in the middle of the night. The staff there was so wonderful in my vulnerable state. Not only did they take care of my pup, they were able to determine he has a cruciate tear as well. Something my own vet couldn't confirm AFTER they had me pay for xrays. I wish I could bring my dog here for his primary care!

Gina Hughes

I would like to thank Dr. Kozek for his kindness and compassion toward my dog, Coconut, and me yesterday, August 15, 2018. I brought Coconut to AAVEC for a second opinion regarding possible tumors. Dr. Kozek could not have been nicer or more compassionate when he came out to the waiting room to tell me the bad news. He also was nice enough to contact my vet's office and speak with them directly, in addition to his staff immediately faxing results over to my vet. Dr.Kozek certainly made a terrible situation for me as painless as possible. Thank you!

Jenifer Garcia

Thank you for taking great care of our dog. One thing I was most impressed with was you cared more about my dog being able to get the surgery he needed than making money on us. The doctor went through the itemized estimate sheet, took things off, and even recommended a surgery center we could afford! That speaks volumes and we were so thankful!

mike white

Great place they truly care about your fur babies

D Hunt

Desk and technicians are very caring, friendly, and professional. Doctors are very caring and trustworthy. I would definitely return and would recommend!

Anthony Langer

The professional and knowledgeable staff took great care of my little puppy. I came in very concerned and they were able to put me at ease without sugar-coating the situation. Now he’s doing great and I am so grateful for their expertise and capability.

Gale Schneck

I first visited them when my dog needed surgery along with the follow ups. Then again unfortunately when I had to put my dog down. During all times the doctors and staff were wonderful, kind and understanding of all my needs. They would be my regular veterinarian if I lived closer.

Sherri R

Great and caring personnel... very helpful in our time of sorrow... My baby girl (chihuahua) just passed away and we took her in to be cremated... One of the hardest things I've ever had to do but they were very patient and quick to help my husband and I in our time of need.

Pilar Mynaugh

The staff and vet were very professional-very experienced. Had answers to questions and were right on the money with my Buster symptoms. I thank u for being there for him and I. It was scary but they made sure with their knowledge that he was going to be ok. Thank you

Christy Teston

Could not be more grateful and happy for the emergency treatment and successful surgery our French Bulldog, Sully received. Exceptional doctors and staff.

Peggy G

Everyone was great until we got to Dr. Kennedy. She has no kind of bedside manner for someone whose dog is dying. She does not like if you ask questions. She will let you know they are a waste of her time by answering them in a disrespectful and condescending way. This made a painful situation worse for us and we will make sure she is not the Vet on duty should we need emergency pet care in the future. I recommend pet owners ask for anyone but Dr. Kennedy when you arrive. No one needs arrogance when their heart is breaking. UPDATE: I received a call from the clinic with a sincere apology for the way Dr. Kennedy acted. The fact that they reached out meant a lot to me and truly did help me come to terms with the situation.

Laurie Gee

I was surprised how the staff was able to immediately bond with my dog. I felt they really understood that he really is just a GOB (good ole boy) in need of reassurance and hugs as much as stitches.I really expected that since it is a clinic that he would be just a dog. Thank you so much

Troy Mishaw

Sunday morning my Doxie woke up and was parylized on her left hind leg. Called around and got rave reviews about your hospital. I was extremely pleased with the way we were handled. Thank you so much for all your help. Sue & Tilly Mishaw

Dawn Nelson

The visit was quite pricey and the wait was very long, but the doctor was very good, knowledgeable and helpful.

betty watts

WE had a great experience with your clinic. The front desk gave us a friendly welcome. We were seen quickly by the vet! xrayed, diagnosed, and treated. Given fluids!! Wonderful to have a facility near by that can handle an emergency when our vets was closed. absolutely would recommend!!!!

David Terry

Excellent and very caring treatment for both pet patients and owners.

Andrew Schmickle

It's heartbreaking to write this, because my visit ended with the wholly unexpected loss of my dog, but the facility and people were very kind and loving despite not knowing our little guy. They allowed us to make the decision without a lot of pressure for expensive treatments that would have only bough slivers of time more. Our doctor wept with us as we said goodbye. And they sent us a lovely note a week later with condolences.

Megan

Dog came in with bloat. Staff was fast and attentive. They were very efficient and kind.

Danny Mcfarlan

Very prompt with the care of our dog & was very pleased with cost of the medical bill!!!

Sheryl Barnes

Truly Emergency Room for Animals. These Vets and Vet techs are experts and get right to the point. Also, this location has a number of Veternarian Specialists ( Cardiology, Neurology, Eye) . Each of those has their own contact info.

Mattinmaryland

Dr Anne did a wonderful job. We were given the news that our dog needed to be put down due to an advanced illness. It was very unexpected and she delivered the news with compassion and professionalism.

GENADI OSOWIECKI

Very nice people, not to mention competent... My dog and I were visiting from out of state when he developed a problem, which I only noticed late on a Saturday evening during a long holiday weekend, leaving me very few options... I contacted the Emergency Clinic, and they told me I was welcome to stop by any time, and no problem was too trivial.... The vet had a look at Alfie, reassured me that it was not serious, suggested some remedies, and sent us on our way... All and all, a positive experience, and I would not hesitate coming back there again, or recommending to a fellow pet owner...

Michele Auker

I had an emergency with my cat and was told by my regular vet to take him to your facility. We learned that he was very sick and had to be put to sleep. The vet was very caring and sympathetic. We received a packet to take home which contained a poem that broke my heart. A few weeks later, I received another packet with a "In Memory of Rebel" poem that contained my cat's paw prints. That was so caring and thoughtful.. I would recommend this clinic to anyone. If I ever face a similar situation, I would surely make the trip to the clinic again.

Sharon Sansone

Awesome care and concern. Great staff. Had 3 dogs treated there on different occasions and they could not have been any better.

San Calhoun

Our Katie was as in her way to dog heaven...But God! She made a turn around and had type 1 diabetes, depression, went into ketosis, liver damage, kidney damage, arthritis and ecoli infection. We had no clue just that she would not eat and later could not walk. Now she is better and has a way to go, but has energy, playing, happy and grateful. Thanks Dr. Tim!

Julie Piolunek

Whether I’ve taken my dog there or like today, I called with a very important question, they’ve been wonderful to deal with ! They’re all professional, knowledgeable and very friendly. It’s a comfort to me that I know they are there when I need them.

Sharon O'Brien

I received excellent care when my male cat was very ill. I felt very taken care of from check in, to meeting with the Vet after full evaluation of my cat, to seeing my cat before he was taken into surgery, and visiting the next morning. I knew I was in great hands! I'm super impressed with the total professionalism of all the staff and the way my cat was treated. I would highly recommend this practice if your animal is ill and in need of care when your Vet's office is closed. The facility is new and very clean, which gives you piece of mind when you have to leave one of your furry friends over night.

Adam Walker

Was surprisingly fast, and under my expected costs. Everyone there was super friendly and supportive the entire time.

Kate Upfield

We've been here three times over the past couple of years. We had one good and two bad experiences. They were wonderful when we had to put down one of our cat's unexpectedly; however, when another one of our cat's and our dog was sick, it was very frustrating: being talked down to instead of talked to, making it seem like we were an inconvenience any time we'd call or visit to check-in on our pets, questioning the decisions we made about our pets, and I won't even get into their pricing structure and estimates. If you're in a situation where it's late at night or a weekend, your vet is unavailable, and you have no other option, then this is the best place to bring your pet to receive the care they need until you can transfer your pet to their vet so they can care for them directly. Just prepare yourself emotionally, mentally, and especially financially for the experience.

Marissa Edwards

The facility was super clean, friendly, cost conscious for me and communicated very well. I left my pup there overnight and they took very good care of him and gave me plenty of updates and I called various times as well for additional updates.

Chris Terry

My husband and I would just like to thank Dr. A and the techs for an outstanding experience with them. Our Lab needed major surgery on a herniated disc that had pretty much made him lame. Dr. A was able to fix our Lab, Deek back. He is able to walk again and now is back home with us. Everyone from the Emergency area to the Neurological staff went above and beyond the call of duty. We can’t begin to thank you enough and from the very bottom of our hearts. Thank you again and we HIGHLY recommend this Clinic for anyone needed emergency help or specialist care. They are the BEST!!!!!!

Becky Fredericks

Excellent care, compassionate staff, very reasonable fees. A safe port in the storm!! ❤

Angela Atkinson

Very clean. Front desk are pleasant people. Everyone is very friendly. The cardiologist doctor very caring.

Jessi K

We lost our dear pet that night, but the clinic and Dr. Eisenhower was so wonderful. She stayed past shift past midnight to euthanize our sweet Skitty because she knew we didn't want it to be anyone else who hadn't already been working with us. And she sent us a card. We are so grateful for her kindness and the clinic.

Regina Heising

Friendly, caring, professional. Took great care of our dog who is doing great now.

Brenda Harvey

Maida is doing great for an old dog. Now on Thyroid meds.

Sarah Sarah

I believe the medical treatment for my cat was good however I didnt care for the doctors demeanor. Everytime she came out to talk to me about my cat she would be looking all over the place while asking me questions like she wasn't interested in anything I was saying. Don't ask me questions if you aren't going to pay attention or at least pretend to listen.

Hilary Fong

AAVEC did an excellent job diagnosing and managing our dog's immune-mediated hemolytic anemia. It's a tough and often expensive condition, but the vets here informed us well and helped us to make the best decision moving forward. Their communication was great. Tom Kozek is a fantastic emergency vet and I can't thank him enough for going out of his way to make sure all of our questions were answered and that April was well taken care of. Dr. Somerville recommended a local animal hospital for us to follow up at, and her recommendation was greatly appreciated as we have had great care over there as well.

John and Elaina O'Toole

We recently brought our 9 year-old Weimaraner to AAVEC on a Sunday because she was acting very ill. We informed the vet that she had been diagnosed with kidney disease about a year ago. The vet performed a physical examination and diagnosed her to have an injury to her neck/back. She gave us pain meds and muscle relaxers and told us to contact our vet if she wasn’t showing improvement within 48 hours. She was even worse after 48 hours and I took her to our vet who immediately ran a blood test and determined her kidneys were failing. We are dismayed that the AAVEC vet did not perform a blood test given our dog’s history of kidney disease. We lost two precious days of treating her for her condition and she passed away on Wednesday. Also, no one bothered to follow up with a call to see how she was doing…a common courtesy performed by most vets.

Rebecca Caliendo

Got in and saw doctor quickly. Doctor could not identify the issue my dog was having. Very pleasant staff.

Susan Raine

A fantastic caring experience. Thank you

Jan Rolko

Thanks to you for making my dog's broken nail and nail removal a good experience. My dog is doing well now and it has healed up.

Amanda Chambers

Our dog and cat have both been seen at this hospital for major health issues and we have been very pleased with the medical care they've received. Our dog had to have emergency surgery and stay in the hospital for about four days. The vets were great and regularly kept in touch on how he was doing. I appreciate that they encouraged us to come see him each evening and the vets spent a good 10-15 min talking to us about how his day went when we were there. Emergency care is never cheap, but I feel they were worth every cent as my dog made a full recovery from what would have been a fatal situation without their intervention.

Lisa Kaufman

The best ever!

Annie Myers

We are so lucky to have this place so close by!! I have used it for there emergency services and have seen a vet neurologist here. It's truly a one stop shop and you and your pet will receive THE BEST care!

Rachel Strittmatter

Truly a wonderful group of veterinarians and staff. My 11 year old male feline was diagnosed with FLUTD seven years ago. When he was having trouble on a Sunday afternoon, I knew our regular vet wasn't open, so off to AAVEC we went. This was our first time there, ever, and we met Dr. Kennedy, who was so nice and reassuring during the whole process. When he reblocked 24 hours after release, she took care of him again, and went above and beyond to send me photos from his recovery cage! I also met with Dr. Kozek, who sat with me in the waiting room and discussed our plan of action, and Dr. Sommerville, who made sure he was in good condition to leave the facility. They are definitely expensive, but no more expensive than an emergency visit at a regular vet, and with twice the amount of staff, I feel like it's totally worth it. They explained everything, sent me home with a complete list of instructions for his recovery, and were extremely prompt when I called for updates. Sebastian is back to his loving/spunky self and I'm looking forward to any time we continue to have with him. Thank you all so much!

Theresa Byrd

My Sassy girl got attacked by a larger dog On 4/13. Thank you so much Anne Arunde vetanary hospital for saving her. We are so happy and grateful

Mike and Anna Marie Peloso

The facility is amazing. The staff was kind and courteous, very helpful over the phone. The Doctor that treated our dog was gentle, informative, caring and very compassionate. We are very pleased to know this facility is close to home! Thank you to all!

Brian Stiffler

I could not be happier with the service and personnel of Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic. I rushed my dog (Yellow Lab, 77lbs.) after she was bit in the neck/chest from another dog. I took her in along with my other dog and the staff immediately put us in a room. I had a doctor come in the room and take a quick look at my dog and informed me of what she had noticed before taking my dog back for a further look and examination. What i do appreciate from the staff was the honest approach to the bill. I figured it would be a decent bill (being an emergency, needed stitches, and being put under for operation purposes). The staff broke down on what the bill could be, both the high end and the low end. I was very surprised after everything was all said and done when I received the bill and it was maybe $10 more than the low end estimate. Given the situation, the medicine for my dog , and the procedures (two layers of stitches and a temporary drainage tube for the infection to drain out) not to mention a cone so my dog wouldn't scratch herself. I understand this is a lot to read for a review but this really is a great place to take your furry family member in an emergency. TL;DR: Great place, great staff & reasonable bill price for the work performed.

screaming Icepony

Legitimately labeled for emergency. Our vet was incredibly kind. She gave our old dog the most peaceful send-off possible.

Sabria Poncio

Very nice staff. No wait time. In and out with a proper diagnosis. I was very satisfied with my service and how my lily was treated!

Sharon Hoppe

Great care...great staff...very reassuring in emergency situation Thanks foe being there for Rocky

Jenna Flynn

Absolutely disgraceful!!! They made my dog wait for pain relief for over an hour. Even though i ask for my dog to have pain relief repeatedly. Although the vets techs are great. The practice is about making money rather than helping animals . If you can go anywhere else I urge you to, for the sake of your pet.

Casey Deane

This was the second place I took my puppy after he ate my six year olds underwear. The first place was not able to get him to vomit the underwear up and said to bring him to Annapolis for an endoscope. Thankfully, when we arrived in Annapolis they were able to try again and he successfully vomited the underwear up. Not only did they save his life but also saved me lots of money. If there is a next time (hopefully not), we will skip the vet and head straight here. The owners of Ace - white and brindle pitt bull pup

April Reign

Have ALWAYS had excellent experience with AAVEC for all three of my beloved pooches. Our beloved Lucy had to unexpectedly and devastatingly be euthanized due to neurological issues, their staff was so compassionate and caring. They are always outstanding.

I could not be happier with the service provided here. All of the staff was so friendly and helpful and the doctors were so attentive. They we're always available to help when I call for information and when I visited they always give me updates themselves. we brought our two-year-old Lavin who suffered a heat stroke and we did not think she was going to make it, but the doctors here were able to revive her and she is expected to make a full recovery. My only problem was financially which is the only reason I took away one star. My lab went through intensive care and unfortunately left us and Incredibly High bill. they gave us a low end estimate (a couple thousand) which was due on the day we brought her in for her emergency, and a higher end estimate which would be due at the time we take her home. our bill far surpassed the high end of our original estimate(another few thousand) and they still required it on the spot without the option of any type of payment plan. So unfortunately I'm in a major Financial hole because of this .

The staff here are phenomenal. Huge thank you to Dr. Tom Kozek as that man works tirelessly and clearly cares about the pets best interest without pushing unnecessary procedures. And Dr. Allison Keil listened intently and helped figure out a course of action that worked best for us as we weren’t exactly sure what was making our pup so sick. Prices were extremely reasonable. Would never hesitate to return. Our pup is on the mend and hopefully continues down this path.

On Christmas day this past year I found my dog of 13 years on the floor unable to get up with labored breathing . After attempting to get him up he collapsed. We took him to the only Emergency Vet opened and near us. Upon getting him inside with their help it was determined he likely had cancer and some bleeding internally because of near white gums. After being consulted further on options we decided to have him put down. It was likely he wouldn't make it through any procedures and would be very costly otherwise. The Doctor and staff were so sympathetic and gave us as much time as we needed before saying goodbye. Following his death we received a hand written card from the Vet expressing her sympathies for our loss. Just yesterday we received a poem with his paw print stamoed at the bottom. It was very unexpected but a great gesture. I highly recommend this facility as they really seem to care about the pets and owners alike.

Lynnese Evenson

They were super nice but I went for a very sad reason. After I lost my dog they sent me a real nice card and poem.

Joe Hinders

This place is great, I wont say much because it was one of the hardest days of my life, letting our beloved go, but they gave us the best advice and service and the staff was amazing. I so wish it wasn't such a sad ending but they made us feel so comfortable and well informed. Definitely not a factory like some places. We only use as an emergency vet, but that is exactly what it's there for.

I just returned from visiting the emergency room. My dog was brought in for bleeding at her stitching site. I was immediately put into a room and my dog was seen within 45 minutes. I was impressed with the facility as well as the way Dr. Einstien (I think that is correct.) treated my pet. Thank you so much for your kindness and patience. If you are in need of emergency services for your pet, I urge you to consider this location.

My cat Robbie was in very serious condition due to diabetes related issues when I brought him in. Within a week thanks to a very trained staff, Robbie was back home with me within a week. He is doing very well and I would like to thank everyone there for their professionalism, understanding, and caring they gave to him. I was very pleased as to how they were there for me to explain everything to me step by step. If I need to bring Robbie or my other 2 cats there I would do so.

They took excellent care of my puppy when she was suffering from a severe fever, foreign object in her stomach and intestinal parasites. They kept her overnight but once they reached the point where everything they were doing for her was stuff I could be doing at home they called me to come bring her home instead of using it as an opportunity to keep her longer and make more money. Though it is a business and money *is* one of their concerns, it's clear to me that the happiness, health and well-being of the patient animals is a higher priority than profit. Not only would I gladly take my four-legged family members to AAVEC again, I would also recommend them to anyone else that needs to get their pets immediate medical attention outside of their regular veterinarian's hours.

Stuart Jacobs

Came in for emergency care on Sunday afternoon. They were very courteous and got the problem taken care of quickly.

Thomas Gryn

We took our cat here for surgery; they did their best, but unfortunately he had a malignant cancer that came back a couple months after the procedure and we had to put him to sleep. I think they get a lot of the worst-case and terminal cases that a regular vet can't fix, and that some of the bad reviews are rooted in frustration that they didn't get the cure that the owner was hoping for. If you're in the situation that we were, facing a large surgery bill with a not-great long term prognosis, you may have to have the hard discussion about whether it is worth it or not. The specialists here will give you good advice, but the decision in the end is yours. If you decide that it is just too much money, or that the odds just are not good, please do not feel that you are a bad owner; in retrospect, I wish we had made that decision. I wish you well.

My dog ate 4 used tampons from the trash, and mortified though I was, the staff at the emergency vet got him right in and reassured me that it happens all the time. They got what they could out by using a medication to make him throw up, and told me signs to watch for at home. They also gave him a bolus of fluid in case he got dehydrated from throwing up. I can’t thank them enough, Mason is back to being his stubborn self, and no more tampons are going in the trash.

Debra Hankish

Arrived at 5:45 am and left at 6:15...never saw a vet. No other “patients” in the place. After waiting 15 mins in the exam room, I checked to see how long it would be to see a vet, was told the vet had been on a call with another clinic. Waited 10 mins more, and was told it’d be another 10-15 mins. I walked out. My dog was in pain and stressed. Figured it be better to have him wait at home for our regular vet to open instead of being stressed, waiting, in a vet office that’s technically open 24 hours vs emergency care.

Richard Ward

Really professional and organized.

Kenny Fisher

Very prompt and accurate service. Was surprised to see that pricing for an emergency visit was in line with my regular vet, but quite a bit faster.

Rob Barth

This is not my regular vet, but is the only 24 hour vet near me. I've visited twice and while they were both emergency visits, one where I had to put my dog down. Who was a 10 year old lab mix with a tumor on her spleen. If you are close by or need a vet the staff is AMAZING! They went of there way to allow us to spend the last moments with our beloved dog and we're just really great.

Heather Bowen

Very caring and comforting during a difficult time. Received a beautiful poem and paw print of my fur baby that passed on.

Stu Cameron

Short wait and Competent Vets. Prices are higher to reflect 24 hour availability and high quality treatment.

Gulayat Hajiyeva

I do not know how to thank them, exceptional service nice people.

DO NOT take your pet here for an emergency! They will die before even getting seen. Took my cat in for a bad allergic reaction. His face was double the size while trouble breathing out of his nose. They put me in a room at 9:30pm and at 11:55pm no one had even come to check on him. no doctor, no assistants...no one. Upon walking out and telling the front desk how upset I was, she looked at me like I was crazy. This place does NOT take pet care seriously. By the way...Glen Burnie Banfield has never left me waiting more than 10 minutes for a regular check up. Anne Arundel Vet ER is a joke!!!!

Michele Saville

Very caring and understanding of dog's (and owners') needs.

John W Wooldridge V

They have been more than supportive and supremely helpful when our pooch was sick!!! Five stars all the way, truly compassionate staff!!

Donna D

Wonderful caring docs and employees. This place saves countless lives. Will always recommend AAVEC highly to someone who has a pet emergency.

Kelly Ballwanz

Amazing doctors and staff! The made an awful experience as good as it could be, and they saved my dog! You won't find a better more caring emergency vet.

Tracy Rose

They are so amazing they let you sit in a room for as long as you want put my cat to sleep and just made me feel so

Kara Vause

I was recommended I take my cat in for an emergency visit, so I made my first trip there last month. The staff and Vet took such great care of us and helped us through a very tough time. I would recommend Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic to family and friends.

Bebe Hall

They did a great job treating Sugar. The waiting time after she was admitted was ridiculous. Sugar is well now. Thanks again. P

Brittany Reynolds

The people here are very professional and caring towards the pets they help. The doctors are knowledgeable and are great at balancing care for the animal with saving money on performing expensive tests that might not be necessary. There's a comfortable waiting room with vending machines and coffee, so even though there's sometimes a long wait, you can be comfortable and help your pet to be comfortable while you wait.

LeeAnn New

Excellent Emergency Clinic. The Front Desk Staff was very friendly and nice, took us back right away, wait was not too long, explained everything they were doing, answered any questions we had and were very caring for our 11 year old Retriever/Chow Mix. Explained what they were needing to do, and what could wait for another time. I am very pleased with our visit and would recommend this facility to anyone in the area needing emergency vet care. Pricing is very fair and reasonable.

Noi B

I had to bring my baby jazz here when she scratched open a lump in her chest that would not stop bleeding. The doctors were kind and seemed to really care about the well being of my baby. they operated on her the same day, kept her over night and were very diligent in answering all my questions and ensuring that I knew how to take care of Jazz once she was home.

Brenda Seidel

They were wonderful. The best

Rachel Barber

My dog Ginger needed TPLO surgery. They took great care of her and were very thorough in their expectations and discharge instructions. Thank you!

T H

Excellent care for your pet 24/7

Kimberly Hahn

We were concerned about our dog and needed emergency care. Due to the volume of patients we feel we did not.get the care we needed. Checked in twice in the morning and left messages and didn't get a call back for 4 hours. The reason was they were to busy even though there automatic system says call anytime to check on your pet. They hydrated her with an IV but after discharging her and visiting our normal vet we uncovered that she needed antibiotics right away for an infection, which should have been caught at this Center as it was the test results from the emergency care that threw up the red flagged to our vet to bring her in right away for a bacteria infection!

colleen kelley

The staff is professional and helpful. Registration was fast and the wait time minimal. If you have to end up in an E.R. w your animal companion this is the place to go.

Eddie Null

More than just an emergency Vet.

Amy Pelletier

On July 4th my puppy had an allergic reaction, but I wasn't 100% sure. I thought she may have even swallowed a toy, I was so worried and of course our vet was closed for the holiday. I drove 20 minutes to get there and when I arrived, they asked why I was there and didn't waste a second. They took her back immediately. They did their best time wise, since they were so busy. Everyone was very nice and they took good care of Luna. Thank you!

Michael Johnson

Very swift and attentive care for our dog, after he decided to snack on a tray of rolls rising on Thanksgiving Day. It was not a good day, but I could not be happier with the service and professionalism.

Jean Hase

Best place to go with a seriously ill pet!

Jeffrey Credit

Took my cat there for major surgery, they explained the process of what would happen. They did an amazing job, love these guys, took fabulous care of my cat, love these guys...

Frank Klein

Absolutely caring, professional and understanding veterinarians and staff who helped us immensely - on New Year's Day - with our pet's medical situation. This was second time in 5 years we've used AAVEC; very satisfied both times! Would recommend AAVEC to any pet owner.

anbeav reddit

Great care and service! My cat had a surgical complication at another vet and required overnight monitoring. When I arrived, I was greeted immediately and put in a room and my cat was whisked away for an immediate exam. The vet came out soon after to explain everything to me and let me know what would be happening overnight. I was encouraged to call if needed to check in. The next day they were very conservative in discharging to make sure that my cat was truly stable before taking her home. It was a very stressful situation for me but the staff and doctors at AAVEC really helped me through it. I can’t say enough positive words and am glad to know they are right in the area if I ever need emergency care for my animals.

After our puppy broke his leg on a Saturday night we rushed over to Anne Arundel Emergency vet. We were quickly taken to a room where we sat for hours after they took him for X-rays saying they would be right back. After the vet returned we were told to drop him off the next day for a consultation for 3-5 thousand dollars of surgery. With some medical background, I asked to see the X-ray, and it seemed unlikely surgery would be needed. After getting 3 more opinions it was unanimous that surgery was not needed or even safe based on the location of the fracture near the growth plate. After a phone call with our regular vet he told us the splint would need to be replaced weekly. A week after our visit the emergency vet our regular vet removed the splint to find a large wound around his elbow from the splint being put on poorly (too tight and the wrong kind of splint). Now after the $700+ initial visit at the emergency vet, we have to buy antibiotics to treat this new wound caused by the splint $50. Obviously frustrated I called the AA emergency vet who informed me they would have someone reach out to me that day to try to fix this problem. It’s been close to a week now with no one reaching out to us. I never post reviews but I think everyone needs to be on their toes to ensure they are not taken advantage of financially or with the level of care. When something happens to your pet it is easy to freak out and agree to anything to help them and I am thankful we took a step back and got another opinion or else who knows what could have happened?

lutinlady

Incredibly capable and caring. They were a bright spot in a really terrible moment.

Buddy Wolf

Good staff they were open during memorial day. Make sure you turn before the sign its past the building being built.

Bill D

Unbelievable staff and facilities. Had never been there before and we were extremely impressed.

Tim Burns

Very polite and professional staff. They went above and beyond for our cat. Thank you! You all are the best!

Richard Cullins

We brought our 13 year old lab in for suspected blout . He was restless all night and gagging. We had a very positive experience. The vet assistants were caring and efficient. Dr. Tanya Sommervile was wonderful. Very compassioate, competent, and informative. X-rays were negative. We were very relieved. We feel very fortunate to have this facility nearby.

Crystal Kearney

Our 11 year old cat grew sick suddenly and we had to end her suffering. The Dr was very kind caring and compassionate.

Jennifer Cardinal

I had to bring my dog in on a Sunday afternoon because she had ingested glue somehow and thank God for AAVEC even though it was a tad pricey ( I assume because of the day and time of the visit and due to the fact it is a 24/7 fully equipped and functional animal hospital) was worth it they didnt judge us at all they were very knowledgeable and very helpful my dog had to have emergency surgery otherwise she wouldn't be here with me today and AAVEC saved her life I'll be forever grateful she recovered beautiful and as a bonus they offered the option of spaying her as well since she would already be under anesthesia and we ended up getting it done as well (which also save future $ anesthesia is the most costly part of surgery apparently) also the hospital itself was immaculately maintained and clean and fully staffed with great and friendly vets and vet techs

Nicole Donegan

They were amazing and compassionate.

Lori Abercrombie

Excellent treatment at AAVEC! It was a bit of a wait but they were new in their building! I really appreciated our vet.

Andie Leon

Best of the best service. They really care about the animals they treat and the doctors here are the most capable and compassionate I've ever encountered.

Louise W

Wonderful care during a very difficult time. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and willing to get you the help you need even when they don't have the answer. The veterinarians are honest and professional. I have had a lot of poor experiences with vet offices but I feel like here they truly care about my cat.

Tegan Harris

Really need to change the expected wait times. Took way too long.

Jordan Schoonmaker

Waited for over an hour without being seen. If your pet needs urgent care, this is not your spot.

Nicky M

Friendly staff. Honest and genuinely cared about my pup. Checked her out quickly and determined that she was okay, without putting her through unnecessary procedures or tests.

Best place to take your pets

Cindy Navarro

Absolutely amazing. As soon as I walked in they took my dog back. Within 15 minutes the veterinarian had examined him, started him on pain medicine and updated me. When the decision was made to put him to sleep, they were incredibly kind and very sensitive to our emotions. It was devastating but their quick and heartfelt reactions helped us let go.

Ralph Liguori

The doctor was very compassionate and allowed us to spend all the time we needed with our dog after we decided to have her euthanized. It was a tough time and the doctor spent a lot of time explaining her ailment. We were very happy with the treatment we received.

My husband and I saw a wild bunny hopping in the middle of the road dragging its legs and fly surrounding her. After capturing her, our heart was broken to find this little bun to appear to have been run over by a car with shattered back legs and no fur on her back part. We tried going to the nearest pet hospital but it was closed already at 7/8pm. After some googling, we found that this place which is 30 mins from us is the only one open. We called and explained the situation and they said they can only put down the bunny to sleep. When we got there we filled out a one page paperwork that gives our info and the animal's info and where she was found. It was free to put down an animal as a "Good Samaritan" thing, which was generous of them. We asked if we can be with the bunny when it was put down and they kindly accepted our request even though they do not normally do it. It was heart breaking but the vets and the front desk lady was very kind.

Kelly Mosmiller

I took my cat to AA Vet about a week ago for an emergency late at night and the doctor and staff took care of us right away. My cat was very sick and I had to make a very difficult decision that night but the dr was with me through it all. The staff were very sympathetic and helpful as well. My family has gone to AA Vet for our pet emergencies and specialty care for decades and they are great. I highly recommend them.
