What an amazing team! Our mini schnauzer, Abbey, had been struggling with allergies for years and a friend recommended Dr. Chapman here at Watkins Park Animal Hospital. Her diagnosis and reccomendations were spot on. We then began bringing a tabby, Tepper, whose health also improved tremendously after his treatments. Recently, Dr. Chapman, Dr. Maturo, Cindy, Dee, Kim and Caprice have all gone beyond expectations to help us with Abbey and my gratitude is boundless. Thank you all so very much!

I recently took my new dog to my regular veterinarian of 20 years for a regular check up. Had the worst experience ever. That day I decided to look for a new veterinarian and was referred Dr. Maturo. When I got there the staff was so amazing and so welcoming to me and my dog. My dog is a little fidgety and nervous about vet visits. Dr. Maturo greeted me and immediately got down on the floor with my dog and made him feel so safe and comfortable. She took us on time and never made us feel rushed. I have now found a new veterinarian for all 3 of my fur babies. It was obvious Dr. Maturo genuinely cares about your pet.

We are extremely happy with every aspect of this practice. We first came to the Animal Medical Center of Watkins Park when we needed to find a veterinarian who did acupuncture. Dr. Chapman, a holistic vet, is fantastic. Her insights have been very helpful over the years. After our cat had had a few appts with Dr. Chapman, we realized "hey, this place is always calm." The veterinary hospital we were taking our cats to for typical care almost always had a chaotic waiting room. Not so here—it is usually calm. We switched all of our cats over to the Animal Medical Center of Watkins Park and are very glad we did. Everyone is wonderful: front desk staff, veterinary technicians/nurses, Dr. Maturo, Dr. Chapman, and the other vets. In particular, our cats have benefited greatly from Dr. Maturo's care, expertise, and accessibility over the years. There’s absolutely no other place I’d trust with my pets other than Animal Medical Center of Watkins Park. I’ve been bringing my cats and dogs to Dr. Chapman and Dr. Maturo for at least fourteen years now. I live about 45 minutes away from the practice and although I have numerous vets in my neighborhood, including one literally right across the street from my house, I still refuse to go anywhere else. When I had to put my once-in-a lifetime dog to sleep last October, the compassion shown to me was like nothing I’d experienced with any other practice (and I was a vet tech for 8 years). Having them guide me through the painful decision so that I knew I was making the right one for my pet and then dealing with it in such a respectful, compassionate way meant the world to me. I own my own natural pet food business and I send all of my customers to Animal Medical Center of Watkins Park. I know the staff will treat my customers with respect and I know the vets will guide them to make the right decisions with holistic options for their pets. They’ll answer their questions and educate them with a less is more approach. I also truly value their opinion concerning nutrition which can’t be said for many veterinary practices these days unfortunately. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this practice and am so grateful for the many years of amazing service and care they’ve given my pets. Dr. Hogue and Dee have a way about them that calms my anxious baby, Kami. The hands on, caring approach makes the seemingly stressful situation bearable for Kami. The whys are truly explained. The cost of care and medicines tend to be less expensive than other places. Believe me I have checked. Best vet in the TRI-STATE area hands down. I am heavily involved in animal rescue with Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and sometimes have 15 dogs in my house. My two Loka(7) and Bullet(4) have received EXCELLENT care since I joined back in 2015. Never have a problem scheduling an appointment or emergencies. Always spends extra time to answer questions. Recommended Trupanion insurance which I carry for both and is worth its wait in gold.

Dr. Maturo and her staff are angels. My dog was attacked the day of a snow storm, EVERYONE was closed including my regular vet. I called everywhere and finally called her office. They answered, Caprice did, and I was in tears explaining what happened and I begged to bring him in to have surgery. Dr. Maturo had a full day, but still allowed me to bring him in. Not only did she save me money but she, and her staff, were so sweet and kind in what was a horrible moment. They patched up my baby and I can't thank them enough. We HIGHLY recommend the Animal Medical Center at Watkins Park. Since we first got our newborn miniature schnauzer more than two (2) years, we have been taking him to Dr. Maturo. She was recommended to us by our neighbor. The Center was conveniently located, very organized, and clean. Dr. Maturo is an extremely professional, highly competent and experienced veterinarian. She takes time to listen to all of our concerns regarding our dog’s growth and development, as well as his little idiosyncrasies (including his snoring!) that make him special. Dr. Maturo consistently motivates her team to perform at the highest level and consistent with best practices. I have been going to the Animal Center of Watkins Park since 1999, that's 20 years!! I love Dr. Maturo and her team of professionals. Everyone from the other vets, the front desk staff to the vet technicians are courteous and knowledgeable They treat you like family. I took my miniature schnauzer there for 13 years until he passed from old age in Dr. Maturo's arms. I've been taking my very aggressive 115 pound German Shepard there since 2012. Dr. Maturo and her staff know my pup well at this point and are more than able to deal with him, firmly yet gently. Though some other vets probably would have stopped seeing him long ago, she deals with him and gives him the best of care. We just left today where she took out stitches from a recent surgery. He may not have been a happy camper, but I was. We were in and out within the hour. Now that's service!! I recommend this practice without hesitation!!!

At AMCWP my dog is not a number, she is a patient. Not only does Dr. Maturo get to know your pet intimately, but so do the staff. It is not a factory, like so many other practices that I've used in the past. When we come in for an appointment, everyone knows my dog like she is family. AMCWP is not only caring but always follows up personally after procedures to check on status. What is very special about AMCWP is that they offer both traditional and naturopathic medicine options, and are open to using either or both when appropriate. Having AMCWP as my dog's care provider is like having a good, old country vet with all the added benefits of modern technology, practices and medicines. I wouldn't consider using anyone else.

Great personal service and attention. I have been taking my dogs here for years and have always received the most professional and compassionate care and service. There are different vets on staff and I am not sure if there is bigger turnover or if it just depends on what day you have an appointment determines who you and your pet will see. The cost of care is a little higher but the quality of service and products offered are high quality as well. You get what you pay for. Sometimes the checkout process is a little slow, buts that is the only real issue/concern. You and your pet(s) will be in good hands here.

Why I chose Dr. Maturo: I searched and read ALL the reviews online for vets in the Maryland area, Dr. Maturo’s reviews just stood out. She consistently received great past and current reviews from Angie’s list, yelp, consumers checkbook, and google. Her background of 30 years+ practicing veterinary medicine, established clinic since 1992, her practice includes several specialized treatments such as dental surgery, geriatric care, she is a subject matter expert in her field, and she is a member of several professional recognized veterinary associations. Overall the online reviews had a consistent theme where she is a doctor that cares greatly about her patients, she is keenly focused on ensuring appropriate diagnosis while considering each patient individually. AMCWP prices are reasonable for appointments and diagnosis, however some of the prescriptions they are not as competitive as some on line pharmacies. Even though the Animal Medical Center of Watkins Park (AMCWP) is not close to me, it is worth my 40+ minute drive. After meeting Dr. Maturo, I can see the theme of the reviews. She is an amazing expert, completely communicated to me all the options to help diagnose my cat, risks and long-term care, she is very positive, optimistic, but realistic. She has gone above and beyond to help and support me in caring for my elderly cat. And yes, I would absolutely recommend her for any pet care and especially older pets with difficult conditions to diagnose. AMCWP staff: Caprice is one of Dr. Maturo’s technician and she is fantastic! She microchipped our puppy so easily, she’s a real pro and a delight to be around. Dee is another technician that has assisted us in our visits and we just love her, she is great with pets, clearly cares about them. Cindy was super helpful in giving me information over the phone when I had my cat in for an ultrasound, I was not familiar with the process, procedure and cost. Cindy took the time to answer all my questions and explained the process. I didn’t feel rushed, and felt like I could ask more questions if I had any. Why I was searching for a new vet: My regular vet recently moved and until the clinic hired a new one I had to research and find another vet to help diagnose my 14 year old cat that has been losing weight. I initially used the Waldorf emergency care clinic, they are also awesome as well, but they primarily only treat emergencies.

There are others closer to me but I prefer to take the extra driving time knowing my pets will have the best care. We've owned several dogs over the years, all rescue from a variety of locations, and they've all been to Dr. Maturo's practice. We would not even consider going anywhere else - we tried many years ago before we met Dr. Sue and none of the vets matched the great experience we've consistently had. When it came time for the final arrangements for one of our older dogs, he (and us) was treated with the utmost compassion and dignity. We received a plaque with his paw prints, his dates, and a small inscription. That was a first for us in over 35 years of owning a variety of breeds. AMC of Watkins Park has been my preferred veterinary practice for many years already. My critters generally see Sara Fox Chapman, but I have been very impressed with every doctor we've seen. Besides being knowledgable and current, their interpersonal skills--with both us peeples and our pets--are exceptional. Recently, we were suddenly faced with having to send off one of our cats to heaven (yup--I'm fully convinced theologically, having spent months in study), and I think it may have been the "happiest" release for our cat, whose final memory was eating treats--his favorite thing to do, bar none. It wasn't particularly happy for us, but we all know how that goes . . . I fully expect to see him again, though. ;-) I can't recommend this practice highly enough. Go there!
