AMAZING. My babies have always come here. They care so much. So kind. ALL staff is amazing. My dogs are terrified of people but they go...somewhat willingly...with the staff. This happens no where else.

I love this place. I have been bringing my dog here since he was a pup, he's going on 4 yrs now. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. There are payment plans if you need them but normally I pay no more than $400 for my dog every 6 months for meds and visit.

Today I arrived to pick up my pet after surgery. The front desk receptionist brought me to a room to wait for a technician to bring my pet to me. After waiting for over half an hour, I stepped out the room to see what was going on. I see two techs lounging about, leisurely talking. I interrupt them and explain to them I've been waiting over half an hour for someone to bring my pet to me. "Oh, is it a cat?" one of the techs asked. I reply yes and he says he'll be right back with him. He comes back and hands my cat to me. "What about my carrier I brought him in?" I ask. "Oh, you had a carrier?" He leaves and comes back later with the carrier. As I'm leaving I return to the front desk to check out. The receptionist asks "May I help you?" As I begin to tell her that I need to check out, she cuts me off and says "Oh I'm busy. But she can help you" and she pushes me off to another receptionist. Why even bother to offer your assistance if you're "too busy" to actually assist me? I'm extremely disappointed by the incompetence displayed by the staff here. If they're not competent enough to relay a message that I'm in the room waiting, I question their ability to actually care for my pet effectively. The doctors here are great, at least the few that I've met. However, the rest of the staff is so incompetent and careless that I will not return. I bring all my pets here and easily spent over a couple thousand dollars in the last year at this office. All of my pets are even enrolled in the clinic's "care club" health plan. But, I will not be returning. I will find another clinic to bring my pets to, as my time is valuable and I won't waste it dealing with the incompetence of this staff.

Early 2106 two of our 14 year old dogs were at a point that for quality of life we made the decision to let them go peacefully. The staff was absolutely supportive at a time we were grieving. Unfortunately our 7 year old dog was diagnosed with kidney problems late 2017 so we went back because how the awesome staff took care of us earlier and again we could not have asked for more. The veterinarian texted us late at night with test results, advice and updates when our baby had to stay. Yes their prices are a little more expensive than some (not as expensive as others) but we got more than most veterinarians have given in the past. My daughter has since adopted a dog who had an advanced case of heartworms and again the staff proved that they cared with texts and pictures of our new baby when she was in their care.

I brought my golden retriever in bleeding at the nose and BEFORFE THEY WOULD EVEN SEE HIM THEY MADE ME GIVE THEM A $1000 DEPOSIT which I never got back. Then they called and said that he had cancer and there was no treatment -oh but they did give me an alternative - I COULD EITHER EUTAHIZE HIM OR BRING HIM HOME WITH THE POSSIBLITY OF Him BLEEDING TO DEATH!!!!NICE CARING PEOPLE, HUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\Since I was in the hospital and completely histerical I have them the permission to euthanise him. I still don't know which method they used, if anyone was there comforting him. WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE CHARGE A BLEEDING FROM THE NOSE DOG A $1000 BEFORE THEY EVEN LOOK AT HIM ????????????????????????????????????

I want to thank Dr. Marcelo Gentinetta for always being there for my pets and all of our Kismet Pet Adoptions rescues. Dr. G is so medically intelligent, always attending veterinarian seminars, doing research and just knows a lot about animal medicine. Thanks for giving Atticus a longer life and thank you for saving so many furry lives!!!

Wow. Can't say enough good things about Dr. Ross Goldman. Performed a surgery on our cat. Honest feedback and options prior to surgery, great updates just before and during surgery, and checked on our cat during recuperation (offerring access via his own cell phone). We do miss Dr. Pelle (now retired) but Dr. Goldman is a wonderful replacement. So happy to have found this doctor in New Orleans! Congratulations CAH on a fantastic addition to your staff!

Very nice and good with animals. They just don't seem to have enough equipment. They do a test, then send it out to someone else to be read or complete the test. Makes my bill rather expensive!!!

Prior to my wonderful experience with VCA Causeway Animal Hospital, I unfortunately experienced some very negative experiences with veterinarians in New Orleans. However, the absolute fabulous experience, care, treatment, and compassion I received from VCA Causeway through Dr. Gentinetta and Mary Anne and the other staff members made it all worthwhile! I was new to New Orleans and had not yet brought my pets to any vets within the NOLA area. However, my 8 month old puppying started vomitting profusely and after taking her to one vet who wouldn't listen to me (when I said my pup was internally bleeding), I finally called VCA Causeway (don't know why I didn't do it sooner!). Mary Anne answered the phone and listed to me and was extremely sweet; she immediately asked me to hold and put me on the phone with Dr. Gentinetta. For those of you who don't know, he is an angel--there are not many vets who will actually get on the phone with you before you pay them some $. I was already on my way to VCA Causeway but just being able to talk to Dr. G and tell him what was going on made me feel better as he agreed with me--my baby pup was bleeding internally and needed surgery right away! I brought her in and within a few hours (and several updates from Dr. G) she had her surgery. Turns out my baby needed a pyloric valve repair since she had torn it and was indeed internally bleeding! (Which means she had suffered and the other vets who had not listened to me almost killed her!). Dr. G monitored her and continued to keep me updated on her status as I was away from her for two days while she recuperated in the hospital. My baby is now doing fine and I have decided to go to veterinarian school--since Dr. G has greatly inspired me and I now see that I have the gut insticts to know what is going on with animals. If you go here, I'm sure everyone will treat you wonderfully. Ask to speak to Mary Anne when you call and ask for Dr. Gentinetta if you can; I assure you they WILL give you first class treatment and understand that you pet is like your kid.

Edit: Originally left a 2nd star because some of the staff and doctors there were really nice to my new cat. Redacting that because they find it appropriate to harass people for leaving negative reviews. We got a pound kitty, who came with a lovely case of Giardia and a respiratory system infection. Their attempt to treat the respiratory system infection failed and when i was too sick to personally go to a vet visit and sent my partner, they refused to do a stool sample despite my listing multiple systems of intestinal parasites that I was concerned about. Only after my poor cat was having the worst poops I have ever seen, and refusing to use the litter box (hooray ruined belongings!) would they see us again. I was told on the phone “if the test comes back negative, you will have to pay, since you are out of the two week care period.” Apparently this meant I was going to be charged not only for the test, but for the exam AND the new medication for his respiratory infection since their stupid overpriced nebulizing treatments didn’t help him. Apparently this meant it was totally appropriate to hand me a $200 bill for some medicated snacks, antihistamines, and a stool test. They chalked the confusion up to a lack of notes, and only charged me for the test. Which they said I would only have to pay for if it came back negative. I can understand how those things might be confused but it felt so coercive. Surprise, cat is sick exactly like I told them in the first place! The staff were still confused and rude when we asked for our reimbursement for the positive test that had been promised on the phone AGAIN earlier that day. They eventually gave us medicine and reimbursed us, he is still sick 4 days later though. To make matters worse, our original healthy kitten is obviously sick now too, since Giardia is highly contagious. When I brought up this concern with the vet at time of our new cats diagnosis I was told they “were not comfortable giving medication to a pet we haven’t seen, but if she shows symptoms we would be happy to exam and treat her for free.” Surprise again, there are no notes to reflect this and the doctor I spoke to is out of the office for a while. Why would doctors and staff promise financial matters to clients without making notes in the file? I was really appreciative to the VCA for providing adjustment care for shelter pets, but after seeing their prices and knowing a little bit more about how their “charity work” actually goes down (I also had friends working animal rescues during Harvey as well) it seems like a lot of the compassion and care is abandoned in lieu of prioritising profits and protocol. Especially coming from the local overcrowded shelters, animals should be tested for internal parasites upon exit AS A DEFAULT. VCA staff made us feel dumb for requesting these tests within their time limit of 2 weeks and due to that refusal made it nearly impossible to treat conditions that obviously came from the shelter and have now infected our home. This clinic needs to keep better notes and re-examine it’s pricing on meds. I was not thrilled to be pressured to join their “care plan” and extremely aggravated to be handed a bill and treated like a crazy person for being upset about it! Although I didn’t have to pay for the pricey nebulizing treatments they were useless and I spent atleast 90 minutes there every time despite being told it should take less than 30 min. The price gouging and inconsistency of staff is not helping VCA care for pets or communicate with their concerned parents. Some of the staff are so lovely, it’s a real shame. Maybe they just wanted us to stop seeking care for our pets since they weren’t making money off of us and I told them we wouldn’t be coming to them after this transition period? Who knows. Folks should be able to get care for pets without bias, I have a more affordable and nearby vet I prefer, but that shouldn’t make my poor sick kitten any less of a priority for VCA (gets tax write offs for this sort of work.)

Last night I discovered while walking my dog that she somehow chewed or tore one of her nails completely off exposing her quick. While she wasn't messing with it, I was worried about possible infection. She is a rescue and her last trip to a new vet was really rough and a bad experience for her. She is also very vocal and anxious on leash/at the vet. Since I have owned her we have worked on her accepting nail trims, but its been a slow process and I was worried that whatever had to happen at the Vet would ruin the progress we made. All of her nails were over grown and needed trimming BADLY. I called VCA in the morning and even though I had never been seen there, they were able to schedule me in that morning. When I arrived, I paused outside waiting for other dogs to leave the reception area (because she gets very loud and vocal) and the receptionist came right outside to me with intake paperwork so that I could go right into the room when it was available. The assistant and technician took the time to listen to my concerns and learn about my dog. I asked if they accepted Care Credit (they do) and if they could provide me an estimate before any big charge items to make sure I could afford any treatments. They said it wouldn't e a problem at all and made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Morris came in and had a great repore with my dog immediately and we both sat on the floor discussing her nail. She let me hold her foot so she could get a good look at it and so my dog was more comfortable. She suggested having her nails trimmed under sedation, so that she didn't have the negative association, get her nails very short and managable, get a better look and clean the broken nail. I was able to leave her there and go to work and felt very comfortable. I was very happy with my visit here and would definitely reccomend VCA and Dr. Morris to everyone.

I recently adopted 2 kittens, the first time I have ever had a pet. About a week ago, I woke up and my girl kitten(Nora)wasn't really moving and her eyes were red enough to make me consider an exorcism. I rushed her and her brother(who was fine, but just in case)both to VCA Causeway scared to death that something was terribly wrong. They immediately brought me and the kittens into an examination room where the techs and veterinarian were extremely calm and sympathetic to my situation. I'm sure they deal with first time pet owners being frantic quite a bit, so it was just another day to them. Regardless, they took care of Nora and she is back to her normal playful, mischievous self, as soon as the same night. I only had the kittens for 2 weeks when this happened, so I was prepping myself for the worst case scenario. Thankfully the techs and vet eased my mind and I honestly couldn't be more grateful. I would and will absolutely recommend this animal hospital to anybody, because the first impression they gave off couldn't have been better.

This clinic is very expensive even with the care club package. My Black Lab got into some chocolate the other day. I had gone to work. My wife dropped her off to be seen. They gave her activated charcoal. They charged me $175 for the activated charcoal. That's just for the charcoal as I am on the care club plan so the visit was covered. That price seemed high to me, so I did a little research online. The most expensive pet grade activated charcoal I could find online was $25. I don't mind them making a little profit on their meds, but that is excessive. Beyond that, for 2 1/2 years I have been trying to get them to straighten mine and my wife's account out. I want notices and emails on my dog and she wants notices and emails on the cat. Should be no great technological hurdle to make that happen. They can't seem to get it straight. Lastly, if you look at the negative reviews, even when the customer leaves their name, the clinic is telling the customer to e-mail them. That seems a bit backwards to me. You take time to provide the feedback they ask for, then they ask you to e-mail them about it. The doctors seem to be good vets, but it takes more than that achieve total customer satisfaction. Tough job to provide quality care and quality service at a fair price. One out of three won't keep me coming back.

Unmotivated employees. Waited nearly 3 hours because someone did not check their online appointments. Will never go back here. Prices are not reasonable.

I recommend this to anyone with fur babies. They love taking care of animals and treat the animals And parents very special. My animals are terrified of going here, but that's just them. However the staff helps me to feel comfortable which in turn allows me to comfort my babies. They are so patient and kind as well as accommodating. I wknt bring my little ones anywhere else!!!

VCA has been our vet for one of our cats and our dog for several years and the service is always great. All of the staff are very kind, friendly, and understanding. They also try to be as friendly as possible to your wallet - providing quotes for services before proceeding and avoiding exp naive procedures if they can. We've used them for surgery - the care and aftercare was great - and for boarding for trips and will provide you updates. They really are dedicated to taking great care of animals!

I have been taking my pets to VCA Causeway Animal Hospital for over 20 years. They have been the very best for routine and specialty care (cancer) for both my cat and dogs. Although I know that they are awesome and wonderful in everything that they do, I was blown away with their generosity today. You see... I decided to foster a young dog, flood victim, from Livingston Parish, La., and I took her to VCA for her medical needs. They gave her a medical evaluation, administered a heart worm prevention injection, ran blood and stool tests and cultures, and then sent me home with tape worm medication, some food and supplies. ALL FOR FREE! I was so grateful that I almost burst into tears. These doctors, students, and their entire staff are kindhearted every day of the week, but these days they are performing at a higher conscious level!!! Thank you, VCA! You are the very best!

They got me to sign up for the insurance but it really does seem worth it. And everyone was very nice and knowledgeable

We just moved to Metairie and this was our first visit and the staff was wonderful but Dr. LaHoste and Jocelyn truly exceeded our expectations. She spent a lot of time with us, explaining everything and answering all our questions and went the extra mile to make sure our dog was happy and well taken care of. We will definitely be returning and will recommend her to everyone!

Super caring staff. Very clean building. Easy to get an appointment. The veterinarians are extremely knowledgeable and their treatment methods have been effective in caring for my 3 cats.

Amazing service. They tell you want you need and dont charge you for things you don't! Reasonably priced for a vet's office. They even have monthly care plans! Both Vets that I've seen were professional and explained/clarified everything that was going on. They did not talk down to you because you didnt know something. Very loving and caring place!

In the past, I was unable to find a vet that took the time out to care for my pups like VCA. Most places would muzzle my scared boys and call it a day, but Dr. Lagattuta and the staff here charm my boys with treats and do everything possible to make them feel comfortable. I am so grateful we have finally found a vet we can count on!

Rebecca Rooney

VCA actually REALLY cares!

The best thing I ever did was to take my 8 week old puppy to VCA Causeway Animal Hospital. The Doctors and tech staff are wonderful. You can see how they love animals. My puppy and I were impressed by the care and attention to Lola, my French Bulldog. The entire experience was positive and comforting. Highly recommended.

Katie Morris

Doctor LaHoste is such a fantastic vet. She is so patient and really listens to what you have to say! (Which I haven't always found with other vets.) She's very kind and does a thorough job of explaining what's happening and why. Definitely the reason we go to VCA!

Nicholas Gagnard

Very nice staff, knowledgeable Vets and excellent grooming services.

I've been bringing my two cats, Huck & Kinkwink, here for ten years. I've always been impressed with the care & compassion displayed by all the staff. We've weathered some serious illnesses, and yeah, it can get expensive, but the course of treatment was thoroughly explained, and I was able to make educated (and sometimes, less pricey) decisions as a result. I'm particularly impressed that the doctors follow up with calls, and are very willing to answer questions & soothe concerns. I'm a brutally hard grader, and would easily recommend this business to anyone who wants the furriest member of their family to get the best care possible!

R R Rawls

The doctor's really care! My "child" was ill for about 2 weeks (2 separate issues). Her doctor checked in on her everyday until she was back on her paws! I'll never go anywhere else.

My husband and I have been taking our two dogs Brees and Brady to VCA Causeway since we adopted them two years ago. They have very friendly staff and great vets! On the two occasions our normal vet was not available (vacation, surgery), the other vets we saw were just as knowledgable and provided great care. Our vet will always call us after visits to check on our dogs and make sure things are going well. Animal care, just like human care, can be expensive, but any cost premium (if there even is one) at VCA is completely offset by their love and care for B&B. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.

1. They gave me a bill for the first visit. 2. Vet assistance stated " I should've said I had a coupon" even though website displays this information and I had to fill out new client forms. 3. Then tried to charge me for one pup even though coupon states up to 2 pets per household. 4. Did not give puppies 6 week shots I came for....instead insistently pushing the company's month pet contract. 5. Doctor perfered to give shots once I come back in 2 more weeks... No reason given 6. Give my puppies a "good bill" of health, but I took them to another Vet clinic that following Monday 815 a.m. they had worms. They will say this is "fake news", but I will never bring my animals here or recommend.

Nicholas Robey

My girlfriend and I were so impressed by the staff at the VCA Causeway location, that I decided to write a review right away! We adopted a kitten from Jefferson SPCA in New Orleans, and she needed her first check up as well as to be treated for a minor upper respiratory problem. From the moment we walked in, these people treated us so kindly and professionally that it seemed like a breeze getting in and out of there. The nurse/technician Tara, as well as Dr. Gentinetta were so gentle and caring with us and our baby Roux. We will be using this location as our permanent vet, and would recommend their services highly to any caring per owner! A+++

Amazing staff and doctors. They're accommodating, helpful, and knowledgeable in all breeds of cats/dogs you throw at them. My dog always enjoys her 'spa' day to get groomed!
