Took my dogs for groomimg. The day after i noticed one of them had a teary eye that looked bad. I called to see if something happened there . They would charged me to bring him in and take a look at them. Im not blaming them since i dont know for sure but clearly something happened since he was fine before, but i was expexting at least a no charge check up on him.

We originally found Southshore through a dog we were fostering. The rescue used them and he had a lot of problems and was generally a pain in the butt (loveable though!). After seeing what great care they took of him, we started taking both of our elderly dogs there. As they got older and their health issues increased Dr Chris was incredible. He always listens really well, takes the time to look at everything thats going on, explains all your options, thinks outside the box on treatment plans and is basically the most competant and compassionate vets we've ever had. And we've had a lot of vets through the years of moving from state to state. On the few occasions we've needed to see a different vet from the clinic because Dr Chris was unavailable we've had good experiences also. We've also used them for boarding once or twice and their groomer and were always happy. Their prices are really reasonable. The techs and office staff are always really nice. Even after both our dogs passed away in the past couple years they sent the kindest, most personal condolence cards signed by everyone in the clinic. Dr Chris if you see this thank you so much for everything you did for Hedy and Gigi :) We appreciate it so very very much.

Nice people, but they don't get too detailed about how your pet did while in their care, or what exactly what done to your pet. I had to ask them questions and they didn't even seem too sure of their own answers. My pup is fine, just would like to know what time he got his pain medicine, how long the procedure was, how long he's been awake, and a list of instructions of how to care for my pup post-op. They didn't even provide my pup with a cone, I had to go to pet-smart after my pup was trying to lick his insertion site.

Where to start!! Had my first appointment with this vet at 3:45pm and had to sit in a room with my anxious dog crying for over an hour!!! Unacceptable!!! Then the vet does not even come to see my dog. A new recently graduated vet sees my dog!!! I will NEVER return and I will pass my experience with this vet around to several rescue groups I belong to. Your CUSTOMERS TIME is just as important as yours DR!!!!!!

As far as I'm concerned this is by far the best veterinary clinic in the city. Dr. Chris is the most caring kind and awesome vet that I have ever met. He has gone above and beyond on multiple occasions and has even seen my pets after hours. His prices are reasonable and he genuinely cares about the animals. Dr. Mark is also great areas is the staff. I can't say enough about this wonderful clinic.

I love Southshore. I recently switched from a bigger local vet that has several locations because the service went down and the prices kept going up. I was given Dr. Chris's name along with an amazing recommendation and I am so grateful. He discusses every detail of my dogs' care with me, down to dosage of prescriptions, which specific prescription to give, what is practical for our lifestyle, side effects...I can go on. He is thorough and open minded and their prices are WAY LOWER than the place I had been going to for almost ten years. Lower prices and tremendously better service. I highly recommend this place.

I brought my cat here in January of this year because they participate in the spay & neuter program through the SPCA, offering low cost spay and neuters. I thought all went wonderfully, and I liked the vibe of the office over going to the SPCA. All was well until early September, when my cat who went through a surgery to be spayed, was now in heat. I made an appointment with my regular vet. She performed an ultrasound showing signs of an entire ovary left behind. Instead of bringing my pet back to the first place that was unable to perform a simple surgery, since this would be more complicated and require exploratory abdominal surgery to get out all of the uterine/ovarian tissue, I chose to have my other vet take care of this. We both agreed that Southshore Animal Hospital, after seeing the pathology of providing proof of the tissue, would make this right and cover the surgery. This was not the case. I would not recommend Southshore Animal Hospital, as they are unable to perform even a simple spay surgery to completion. I worry as to how many have been performed on feral cats that were done incorrectly.

Dr Chris is very personable and thorough. Our sweet Maggie was injured and he immediately saw her the same day. When she had new symptoms a day later he squeezed her in on a busy day and tended to her. He takes his time, is honest and caring. He is a great addition to the Lakeview area.

The vets have been very nice. They've help with numerous foster cats and dogs. The downside is the front end staff. They tend to be rude and not friendly. One former client spent a lot of money on 3 elderly pets that all died in the span of 3 months. Her cat was ill and she ran short on money but paid 100 per week to cover the kitty bill for antibiotics. She was told when returned to pay on the kitty account and ask for follow up visit that she must pay it all or kitty couldn't receive follow up visit. The staff blocked her from questioning the vet. This wasn't the first time I had heard them deal with people negatively. They constantly refer to their financial manager and instruct the clients to call her on Tuesday. I have received good treatment for multiple pets there but no so for everyone. They should never assume people are bad for not paying right away. Especially deal with people with such emotional roller coasters such loss of 3 pets. And certainly not embarrassing them in the lobby. Time for sensitivity training.

I can't say enough nice things about Southshore Animal Hospital. Dr. Chris has such a great work ethic and a willingness to consider every possible option for your pet. He's very methodical and logical, as well as personable. He took my dog in as an emergency on a Sunday morning and was pleasant about it. He is competent and reliable and he will do whatever it takes to get your pet back up to health again. His staff is very professional and friendly as well. His billing is clear and uncomplicated. His clinic is fresh and new. You can tell everyone there has a high standard of professionalism and they take pride in their work. He really did save my dog's life and we are very grateful!
