These docs have been our vet for roughly the last ten years, and we've always had a good experience. My dog passed away unexpectedly while I was out of town, and they were unbelievable with my very emotional wife. The entire staff was so thoughtful and caring that it still brings tears to my eyes three weeks later. It was gut-wrenching for me not to be here to help her through it. Thank you all for standing in for me and treating her with such compassion when she really needed it. We have no animals at present, but I will be back if and when we gain a new family member. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I don't really feel like a five-star review really does them justice.

I adopted a kitten and a dog from Petsavers and was refered to Southern Hills animal hospital. Blessings from above. They work with Petsavers in the initial mandatory shots for our kitten and our puppy. When my husband and I got the bill, we looked at each other in pleasant surprise. More than reasonable . The other 2 vets we went to in the Shreveport area were so expensive. Thank you Southern Hills animal hospital, for me being able to afford health care for all 3 of our pets. My dog immediately loved the Doctor . I trust my dogs behavior when she snuggled up to the Doctor. Just love coming here. This new relationship with Southern Hills has been a little over a year and will bring my animals in next week for their 1 year old shots.

NO, NO, NO!!! Do not take your pet to this clinic. I made that mistake of using this vet. My vet retired. Unless you enjoying spending lots of time sitting and waiting for a doc and putting your pet through double procedures so you can pad the doctor's pockets, stay away. I'm so sorry I took my dog to this clinic. If you want more info contact me. Just don't make the mistake of taking your pet to this place.

Well I went by last Firday afternoon after work and I got there at 5:33pm..they close at 5:30 they were right there inside the door and I ask could she please open the door as I need to get some Comfortis pills for my 2 doxies who are being eaten alive with fleas. They totalyy ignored me! So I called today to make sure they carry them and the lady ask me if I am a client and I said no I just moved to this area but needed the pills for my dogs. She said oh you will have to come in for at least 1 office vivit befoe we can sale them to you. I said WHAT?!?! They aren't a prescription medicationa and she said very snottly well they have such side effect! MONEY CENTERED!! I wouldn't take my babies to anyone that sorry!!!!

I moved to this clinic because of Dr. Baas. She is the BEST and you can tell that she genuinely cares for your pet. The person who came to take Cumpet back for his weight, etc. introduced herself to him and let him get comfortable first. I was really impressed by that. He is somewhat nervous and the way she acted with my dog was kind and thoughtful...made me a happy mommy!

When my husband adopted a dachshund, I started taking her to a different vet. When that vet retired, a friend in the grooming business recommended Southern Hills to me. I took my Mollie there, and on her first visit Dr. Steve diagnosed a fungal ear infection that the previous vet had been telling me was dirt for almost 2 years. That earned my loyalty. He and his staff have continued to provide exceptional care over the last several years. I have since moved away from the Arklatex, and now live near Sherman TX. I still drive back to Shreveport when my dog needs a vet, because I haven't found a vet here that prescribes the same preventative medications for fleas and heartworm. They all still use the same old medications that the original vet prescribed, and those meds are nowhere near as effective as what we've been getting from Dr Steve and company all along. I drive three and a half hours (one way) every six months because the quality of care can't be beat, and when my dog is sick or injured they work me in ASAP and keep my commute in mind when recommending follow-up care. I couldn't ask for better people to help me keep my little dog healthy. The staff is exceptional, and the quality of care can't be beat. They're really good at knowing when to treat something aggressively, and when to remain calm and use minimal medications combined with maximum rest for minor injuries. They stay up-to-date on the latest advances in animal healthcare, and they know when those are necessary and when the older, tried-and-true is the right option. I will continue to make the seven hours round trip to insure my Mollie continues to receive the best possible care. Thank you to everyone at Southern hills for taking such good care of my little one!

I've been a customer for almost 20 years now and during that time I've been to 3 other vets looking for someone who treats our animals just as well but is closer to where we live. If there's better care in Shreveport I can't find it, I can't actually find any other vet that comes close. There prices are as reasonable as you can find here and they are very careful to review charges with you before they provide services. Only negative for me is where there offices are in relation to where I live but I've found it's well worth the drive.

Re: review Mrs. Ratcliff - Comfortis (spinosad) is in fact a prescription medication. In Louisiana, the act of prescribing a medication requires a valid client-patient relationship and to sell a prescription medication without a prescription is obviously not legal. Why would a person write a review on a business they have never actually been to, based on incorrect information, then accuse that business (especially an animal hospital with a 30 year history of compassionate care and extensive community work) of being money hungry for obeying the law? We devote our lives to caring for animals, and we try everything we can to help out people in need. To be accused by someone I have never met saddens me. However it reaffirms why I love animals so much; they trust those that help them and we value that trust tremendously. While I am sorry anyone had a bad phone experience I am saddened that a person would attack a caring, compassionate business without justifiable reason. I do hope Mrs. Ratcliff's dachshunds have received an appropriate flea preventative. If I knew how to contact her personally I would love to show her how much we do care about her pets. No hard feelings on my end. Fulll Disclosure: I am a second generation owner of Southern Hills Animal Hospital and have devoted my life to the care and well being of animals in many capacities. We at Southern Hills Animal Hospital have made great personal and financial sacrifice so that we can take care of animals regardless of the owners financial situation. We are saddened by this reviews and wonder why unsubstantiated or incorrect reviews can be placed for all to read as if they were fact.

these people are great, been off work for 2 months from c4, c5, and c6 fusion surgery. could not really afford to bring my dog in to get checked out, she had been whining for 2 months. they are fixin her up right now, and workin with me on the bill. all i can say is yall are a blessing. thank you very much will always bring my pets here for now on!

Dr. Baas is amazing, and everyone is super friendly. The doctor was very informative and they offer great prices for shots for the Shreveport Bossier area. I live near Benton and drive all the way to see them just because they are just so detail oriented and caring about the care of my pets.

Overcharged! Gave me a bag of items, didn't explain cost just added to my bill. NOT once, twice. ($50 for a bag of glucosamine snacks, twice!) Ladies at the desk are rude and not discreet with your business. The doctor seemed as if he just knew what was going on but when I talked over the phone, just made up stuff like he remembered. Id have to keep correcting him. Sad, it was such an emotional time for me to get taken advantage of by people I trusted.

I took our 6 week old puppy Pugsly Ann in today, we are new to the area so was a little nervous about using a vet we have never heard of, I read all of the reviews on every vet near me and saw this animal clinic seemed to have the very best reviews, and so have it they are only a mile down from my home!! As soon as we got there we were greeted by the very friendly staff at the front, filled out the necessary paperwork and was called back almost instantly!! The vet tech was so very sweet and just adored my little Pugsly!! Dr. Everson was so kind and gentle, explained everything in detail that I needed to do with my new little pup!! When checking out, the receptionist was also so very kind, she wanted to hold and love on my little Pugsly as if she were her own!! Actually she AND the vet tech did this!! If I could rate this a 10 I certainly would!! Thank you all for easing my mind and making me feel confident about choosing YOU as my NEW pet providers/physicians!!! This clinic and Dr. Brad are simply amazing. We were traveling through Shreveport when one of my dogs was seriously hurt. They took us in without an appointment and saved our dog's life. Brad was patient, kind and caring and I am deeply grateful for his efforts. And if that wasn't enough, the bill was only a quarter of what I expected.
